AIRBAG LIGHT, THEN LOSS OF POWER. HARD TO CRANK AND WILL LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AT THE TUTTLE CLICK TOFTIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER FOR TAKING A LONG TIME TO CRANK. AFTER UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FREQUENTLY AND, IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFTER HAD TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT, VEERED OFF THE ROAD, AND CRASHED INTO A BRIDGE WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE SHIELD OVER THE WHEEL WELL DETACHED, AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, SPOILER, AND RIM WERE DAMAGED DUE TO THE CRASH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE TUTTLE CLICK TOFTIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIRS BEING AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND AUTHORIZED THE DEALER TO PROVIDE A SECOND REPAIR; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT VERIFIED IF THE REPAIR WOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME AS OF YET. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
THE ISSUE BEGAN AS I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR A RECALL ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I INFORMED THAT I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONING. SINCE THEN THE CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC THAT DARCARS IS INFORMING THERE IS NOT ISSUE BUT NO REPLACEMENT OR SUGGESTIONS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED. I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PUSH START AROUND 8/1. WHEN TRYING TO START THE TRUCK IT WILL NOT TURN OVER AND EVENTUALLY WILL STALL OUT COMPLETELY. SO I ATTEMPTED TO REMOTE START WHICH WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. SOON IT BEGAN TO CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN STARTING THE CAR WITH THE KEY. UNTIL 9/22, ON THAT MORNING MY SON STATED HE HEARD A HISSING SOUND FROM THE REAR DRIVER TIRE. I ALSO HEARD THIS SOUND AT APPROXIMATELY 2:15 PM. WHICH PROMPTED ME TO CALL DARCARS SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE A VANITY LIGHT RECALL WAS JUST MAILED TO US. SO I TRIED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. BEFORE I LEFT WORK AT 5:30 I ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND COULD NOT WITHOUT THE KEY BEING INSERTED TO THE DOOR. THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK. I STARTED REALIZING I WAS HAVING THE SAME NIGHTMARE AS OTHERS TIPM. THE CAR IS NOW BEING WORKED ON BUT THEY ARE CALLING THE ISSUE EVERYTHING BUT WHAT IT IS SO THAT I PURCHASE A FULL PUMP RELAY, THROTTLE BOX, AND BATTERY. COSTING ME 1400 PLUS 140 FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC PLEASE ATTACH TO P54 RECALL MULTIPLE STALLS AND NON FUNCTIONING VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TIPM IS DEFECTIVE. THE CAR WILL CRANK AND NOT START. THE CAR SAYS THAT IS RUNNING AND IS NOT. IT HAS SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED THROUGH NHTSA. WHEN I CALLED FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL. THEY EXPLAINED THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THIS SHORTAGE AND RECALL PROBLEM, THE COMPANY WAS UNIVERSITY DODGE IN DAVIE, FLORIDA. I AM ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A 2000 MILE TRIP WITH MY 2 GRANDCHILDREN. WHEN I EXPLAINED THIS TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, MANNY, HE SAID DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT . WE ARE IN FLORIDA AND THIS REALLY DOESN'T CONCERN US.YOU WILL BE FINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO DEPRESS WHEN APPROACHING A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON OVER FIVE OCCASIONS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS UPON PULLING OUT IN TO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE EITHER STOPPED ACCELERATING OR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON A FEW OCCASIONS ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON PULLING OUT TO PASS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM THAT HAS CAUSED MY FAMILY TO NEARLY GET T-BONED AFTER PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. OTHER OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE SIMILAR SYMPTOMS WHICH EVENTUALLY GET TRACED BACK TO A FAULTY CYLINDER HEAD. REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THE VEHICLES IS SENT IN FOR SERVICE NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWS A TROUBLE CODE. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE MIDDLE OF 2012 BUT HAS REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT BOTH THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTING STARTED TO FLASH ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED SINCE THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REMEDY FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IMMEDIATELY BEGINS TO JERK WHILE ON THE FREEWAY/SURFACE STREETS. IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ONCE DUE TO THE DRASTIC REDUCTION IN POWER AND SPEED. SERVICE PEOPLE FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND WERE NO HELP. IT HAS REPEATED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, WE WERE ON A ROAD TRIP 2200 MILES AWAY FROM HOME...LIMITED OPTIONS. EACH TIME WE HAD TO STOP AND REST BY TURNING OFF ENGINE, WAITING/OR RESTARTING IN NEUTRAL. TRULY A DANGER/SAFETY ISSUE AND MAJOR INCONVENIENCE.
TIPM FAILED. TOOK OVER A WEEK TO ORDER PART. CAR IS UNSAFE DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INCIDENT YET - MY ISSUE IS: THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER BUT THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT DODGE IS NOT SENDING THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM.APPARENTLY THE BRAKES COULD POSSIBLY FREEZE AND FAIL. I CALLED THE DEALER 7/1/2014 AND WAS "PUT ON THE LIST" FOR THE PART TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED TODAY, 8/1/2014, AND WAS TOLD I WAS ON THE LIST BUT THERE WAS ALMOST 50 OTHERS IN FRONT OF ME AND THAT DODGE WAS ONLY SENDING 2 OR 3 PARTS A MONTH AND HAD RESTRICTED THE PART SO IT COULDN'T BE ORDERED. AT THIS RATE, IT WILL BE THE END OF THE YEAR BEFORE MY CAR IS FIXED. ALTHOUGH IT IS AUG. NOW, IT WILL GET COLD SOON AND I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT I CHAUFFEUR AROUND. I WOULD HATE FOR ONE OF THEM TO BE INJURED BECAUSE THE BRAKES FAIL AND WOULD ALSO HATE TO FILE A LAWSUIT OVER A KNOWN ISSUE THAT DODGE SEEMS TO BE DRAGGING THEIR FEET OVER. INITIALLY IN EARLY JULY, 2014 MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO DEVELOPED A COMPUTER FAILURE CAUSING THE BATTERY TO EVENTUALLY DRAIN, LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND ABILITY TO MAINTAIN OR ACCELERATE. REPAIR WAS MADE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER, MANFREDI DODGE, STATEN ISLAND N.Y , AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE BATTERY REPAIRED AND THE COMPUTER REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG FAILURE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY WOULD NOT START. ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALER AND THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR WAS REPORTED FAULTY AND THE VEHICLE TIPM SENSOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR. CONFERRAL WITH THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE TIPM SENSOR BE REPLACED RATHER THAN REPAIRED TO ASSURE LONGEVITY OF THE REPAIR AND OVERALL SATISFACTION. VEHICLE IS A LEMON! *TR
WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE USING THE PUSHBUTTON, THE VEHICLE WILL START TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT NEVER START. ON SOME OCCASIONS WHEN VEHICLE IS TRYING TO TURN OVER, THE VEHICLE WILL START SHAKING VIOLENTLY LIKE THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO COME OFF. I HAVE CAUGHT THE WHOLE SCENARIO ON VIDEO. IT WAS EVERY NOW AND THEN IN THE BEGINNING, BUT HAPPENING MORE AND MORE AS IT GOES ON. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SOON. *TR

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, ADDITIONAL PRESSURE WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT TO STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN COLD WEATHER BUT NOW HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN SUMMER. THE BRAKES FAILED TO COMPLETELY SLOW THE VEHICLE AND A CRASH OCCURRED AT SLOW SPEED. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 DODGE DURANGE RT. WHEN PARKED AT A GAS STATION, TRIED TO TURN ENGINE ON WITH PUSH START SWITCH AND ENGINE DOES NOT START. WHEN PUSHING START SWITCH AGAIN IT MAKES THE SOUND LIKE THE ENGINE IS TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT DOES NOTHING. IN ORDER TO GET THE ENGINE TO STOP FROM MAKING THE TURN OVER NOISE I HAVE TO MOVE FROM PARK TO IN GEAR. THEN I RECEIVE THE "IGNITION OR ACCESSORY ON" MESSAGE. IN ORDER TO GET THE MESSAGE CLEAR I HAVE TO TURN OFF VEHICLE WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE. THIS PUTS THE ENGINE INTO THE OFF MODE AND I HAVE TO START THE PROCESS TO GET THE CAR TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND I HAVE VIDEO TO SHOW THE DEFECT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND READ THIS ISSUE WITH MANY PEOPLE SAYING IT IS THE TIPM DEFECT. ALSO, WHEN USING MY RIGHT BLINKER INSTEAD OF THE FRONT BLINKER WORKING MY FOG LIGHTS FLASH. FOR THE VEHICLE TO NOT START OR STALL IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AND LIABILITY. *TR
AFTER BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE. UPON PLACING MY FOOT ON ACCELERATOR I NOTED THAT VEHICLE BARELY MOVED. LOOKED TO SEE IF VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. DISPLAY READ 4. ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE WITHOUT SUCCESS. HAD TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN ENGINE OFF AND THE RESTART. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. VEHICLE AT DEALER NOW. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED 1 DAY AFTER I NOTED VEHICLE WAS NOT SHIFTING INTO GEAR WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. WOULD HAVE TO WAIT, AFTER MOVING GEARSHIFT, BEFORE TRANSMISSION WOULD ACTUALLY SHIFT TO DRIVE OR REVERSE. AT ONE POINT I PLACED FOOT ON ACCELERATOR WHEN TRANSMISSION HAD NOT SHIFTED AND VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS. *TR
PUSH START BUTTON, CAR GURGLES, SPITS AND SPUTTERS. TOLD TO TRY TO DRIVE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY NEED A CODE. PUT CAR INTO GEAR INSTANTLY DIED. NOW AT DEALERSHIP, COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ONE MONTH AGO, HAS HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS BEFORE IT DIED ON THEM. ORDERING A NEW TIPM AFTER WE FOUND ONLINE THE SAME ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE CHRYSLER/DODGE VEHICLES! *TR

RECEIVED RECALL P14 / NHTSA 14V-154. TOOK VEHICLE IN AND WAS ADVISED NEEDED TO ORDER PART. PART HAS NOT ARRIVED AND DEALER DOES NOT HAVE AN EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE. THEY ONLY CAN ADVISE TO CONTINUE TO CALL. AND CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO SEND ME THE NOTICE (3RD NOTICE) TELLING ME THAT I SHOULD GO TO TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH OR HIGHER, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, ALL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DISENGAGED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT CALLED PREMIER CHRYSLER (LOCATED AT 7301 ARTESIA BLVD, PUENA PARK, CA 90621, 714-528-5337), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND OPENED A CASE, WHICH HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-75, HAD THE VEHICLE ON ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE SLAMMED THE BRAKES AND THEN ACCELERATED BACK UP TO 75MPH. NO VEHICLES IN FRONT, NOT DEBRIS, NO REASON WHY IT DID IT. VEHICLE HAS HAD CONSTANT ISSUES WITH THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM ALERTING TO BRAKE WHEN NOTHING IS IN FRONT, TURNING ITSELF OFF AND ON BY ITSELF, AND THE CONSOLE GIVING THE MESSAGE THAT THE BACK SENSORS ARE BLOCKED WHEN NO DEBRIS IS PRESENT OR EVEN WHEN DRIVING. MULTIPLE OTHER "COMPUTER" ISSUES THAT THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT, FROM LIGHTS TURNING ON/OFF, TO THE WIPERS NOT ACTIVATING WHEN THEY NEED TO AND THE OPPOSITE. DVD PLAYER ACTING FUNNY. IT HAS BEEN ENDLESS

OUR 2012 DODGE DURANGO R/T WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AS A REPLACEMENT FOR LEMON LAW BUY BACK OF OUR 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE DURANGO IS PLAGUED WITH DESIGN FLAWS. THE MOST OBVIOUS IS THE TIPM TOTAL INTEGRATED MODULE. THE FAILURE OF THIS MODULE RESULTING IN OUR VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE. THE VEHICLE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START AT TIMES, OTHER TIMES WHEN IT STARTS IT DIES IN THE STREET. WHILE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT AND ANOTHER DEALER DENIED THE REPAIRS. THE ONLY LOANER I WAS PLACED IN WAS A BRAND NEW DURANGO WITH THE PLASTIC STILL COVERING THE SEATS, FLOOR ETC. THE BRAND NEW LOANER ALSO CONTAINED A FAULTY TIPM. WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE LOANER A DAY BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE BRIGHT LIGHTING EVERYONE, ALARM WAS GOING OFF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, RADIO WAS CRACKLING, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS FLASHING. OUR DURANGO CONTAINS ALL OF THESE ISSUES; LEFT AND RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES ARE DEAD, BOTH FRONT STRUTS ARE BLOWN LEAKING, SPRAYING FLUID UNDER THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FRAME AND BRAKE(S), LINE(S), TRANSMISSIONS IS LEAKING, HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. OUR DURANGO IS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, PLUS A PLATINUM EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHILE OUR VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE THE TIPM IS NATIONAL BACKORDERED PART. PLEASE.... MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO HAS LOST STEERING POWER 4 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW. THE FIRST 3 TIMES THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY BY LARRY H MILLER DODGE, 4220 E 22ND STREET, TUCSON, AZ. 85711, (520) 745-1000. IN THESE CASES, THE DEALER CLAIMED A HOSE HAD COME OFF AND THEY CONNECTED IT BACK ON. DOCUMENTATION ON THESE REPAIRS AVAILABLE IS UPON REQUEST. THE ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO CHRYSLER-DODGE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT. AND WAS ASSIGNED CASE NO. 24966049. MY VEHICLE LOST STEERING POWER FOR THE FOURTH TIME ON DECEMBER 21, 2015. IT LEFT A HUGE PUDDLE OF FLUID ON THE PAVEMENT AND THE POWER STEERING CONTAINER IS EMPTY. EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, WE HAVE BECOME AFRAID OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS NOW PERMANENTLY PARKED WITH NO POWER STEERING. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE HOSE THAT KEEPS COMING OFF. PUTTING IT BACK ON IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF REPAIR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ON AUGUST 20, YET THE LIGHT WASN'T ON AT THE TIME AND WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM UNLESS THE LIGHT WAS ON. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON CONSISTENTLY OVER THE PAST MONTH, TOOK IT INTO THE SAME DODGE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY SAID "CONFIRMED AIR BAG LIGHT ON FOR B1C29 LEFT SIDE SEAT THORAX SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN. PERFORMED WIRE REPAIRS TO LEFT AIR BAG WIRE JUMPER HARNESS BETWEEN R5 AND R7." WE WERE BILLED $299.50 FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE IS A 2012 MODEL AND WE FEEL THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE BEING 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
HEARD FROM A FRIEND WITH A 2011 DURANGO THAT THEY HAD LOW POWER STEERING FLUID WHEN THEY HAD THEIR MAINTENANCE CHECK UP. I HAD BEEN HEARING A MILD GRINDING NOISE WHEN I WOULD MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL AT TIMES SO I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED. SURE ENOUGH, THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL WAS AT A VERY LOW LEVEL. THEY HAD TO PUT SOME IN AND THEN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO COME BACK AND LOOK FOR A LEAK. CAME BACK, FOUND NO LEAK AND BLAMED IT ON THE MANUFACTURER FOR HAVING AN AIR BUBBLE OR SOMETHING. TWICE IN EARLY FEBRUARY, 2014, THE ENGINE (V-6) STOPPED RUNNING AND THE CEL POPPED UP. THE FIRST TIME I WAS CRUISING AT 50 MPH AND THE CEL CAME ON AND THE RPM WENT TO ZERO, BUT AS I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE ENGINE RESTARTED BY ITSELF AT ABOUT 40 MPH, SO IT WAS OFF FOR LESS THAN 10-15 SECONDS. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. AFTER MOVING ABOUT 6 FEET THE ENGINE DIED AND THE TACH WENT TO ZERO AND THE CEL CAME ON. I TURNED EVERYTHING OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND CONTINUED WITH MY ERRANDS. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE ENGINE WAS AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND THE FUEL TANK HAD AT LEAST 10 GALLONS. THE DEALER CHECKED THE CAR BUT FOUND NO CODES TO IDENTIFY THIS PROBLEM. *TR

DRIVING IN FREEZING WEATHER AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. I WENT TO BRAKE, & BRAKES FELT HARD, PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS COMPLETELY, & COMING TO S STOP WAS DIFFICULT & TOOK MORE TIME THAN USUAL. TOOK CAR TO AUTO SHOP NEARBY & THEY DIAGNOSED WITH FAILED BRAKE BOOSTER. HAD CAR TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALER AS IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE DUE TO THE LOSS OF BRAKE POWER, IN WHICH IT REMAINED THERE FOR 3 WEEKS DUE TO BOOSTER PART "BEING ON BACK ORDER". SINCE THIS BOOSTER WAS ON BACK ORDER, I ASKED CHRYSLER IF THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DURANGOS & WAS TOLD NO. THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS OVER THE WARRANTY IN MILEAGE (APPROX 40,000), THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED, HOWEVER, THEY GAVE ME DISCOUNT. I'VE READ THE REPORTS & LETTERS ISSUED RELATING TO THIS RECALL IN WHICH THEY STATED THERE IS "NO LOSS IN BRAKING" HOWEVER, THIS WAS UNTRUE IN MY CASE. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN TROUBLE WITH BRAKING, AS THERE WAS A DEFINITE DECREASE IN BRAKING BY APPROXIMATELY 50%. I CALLED CHRYSLER REGARDING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS RECALL, & CHRYSLER WILL NOT ISSUE A REFUND ON WHAT I PAID TO HAVE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AT THIS TIME, STATING TO ME THAT "THIS RECALL DOESN'T AFFECT MY VEHICLE", WHEN IN FACT, THIS RECALL SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED SOONER THAN NOW TO KEEP ME SAFE. I WAS GIVEN BACK MY CAR AND I DROVE HOME, BRAKES WORKED. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED; I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY HEADING DOWN THE STREET. APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE AND AGAIN HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, THEY INSPECTED AGAIN AND SAID MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTED, ALONG WITH THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER. THEY ADVISED ME THE PARTS WERE NOT BEING MANUFACTURED AT THIS TIME. I CONTACTED DODGE CORPORATION TO INQUIRE ON THIS MATTER, CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY BE A RECALL OR THAT THERE IS MAJOR ISSUE WITH DODGE DURANGO BRAKING SYSTEMS AND WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT THE PART WAS BEING MADE BUT DID NOT KNOW WHEN IT WOULD SHIP. SHE ALSO DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER INFORMATION TO PROVIDE AS TO OTHER BRAKE ISSUES WITH DODGE DURANGO AND OR RECALL.
