MY TRUCK SHUTS OFF IN MOTION. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE WHEN COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY. NO RECALL YET FOR THE BODY MODULE, BUT WAS TOLD THAT IS WHAT IT COULD BE. AM I GONNA HALF TO GET REAR ENDED BEFORE THIS IS FIXED!
HEADLITES ARE SHORTING OUT..PASSENGER HAS A SHORT SOMEWHERE IN GROUND..DRIVERS CORRODED..CLEANED IT..BUT CODE SAYING THERE'S A PROBLEM..NOW REMOTE START..STARTS AND SHUTS OFF CAR AFTER 2 IT 3 SECONDS.ITS ALL STATIONARY..I HAVE NO HI OR LO BEAMS ON PASSENGER SIDE AND REMOTE I
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS TO INDICATE THAT ANYTHING HAS GONE WRONG. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS I AM FORCED TO FIND A SAFE WAY TO GET ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH HIGHWAY AND SIDE ROADS. I AM UNAWARE THAT THE CAR HAS LOST POWER UNTIL I REALIZE THAT MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DON'T WORK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TEMPE DODGE (8005 S AUTOPLEX LOOP, TEMPE, AZ 85284, PHONE NUMBER: (480) 598-2329) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING) AND 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JANUARY OF 2018 AND DID NOT RECOMMEND AN INTERIM REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ALTERNATOR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. SOME PEDESTRIANS NOTICED SMALL FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THE PEDESTRIANS EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES WITH WATER. THE CONTACT OBTAINED ASSISTANCE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE PUSHED TO HER HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO THE NORTHTOWN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DEALER (2020 NIAGARA FALLS BLVD, TONAWANDA, NY 14150; 716-692-7000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE THEN SHOWED A CODE INDICATING "MISFIRE CYLINDER 4" WHILE AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER STATING THAT THE FAILURE (INCLUDING THE FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE HOOD) RECURRED. THE DEALER EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 32565723; HOWEVER, THE MATTER HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,188. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING MY DURANGO IN THE CITY GOING 30 MILES PER HOUR ON 10/05/17 AND MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING. I THANKFULLY PULLED OVER AT A AUTO PARTS STORE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HELP ME GET MY BATTERY DISCONNECTED SO THAT THEY FIRE IN THE ALTERNATOR WOULD STOP. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY ORIGINALLY TOLD ME THAT MY ALTERNATOR WAS NOT RECALLED. I FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND ENTERED MY VIN NUMBER AND IT CAME UP WITH THE T36 RECALL WHICH IS THE ALTERNATOR. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME. I FILED A COMPLAINT ON 10/6/17 WITH DODGE AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AND NO ONE WILL COMMUNICATE WITH ME ON HOW THEY ARE GOING TO FIX MY CAR OR LET ME KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT MY VEHICLE FOR A WEEK NOW AND DODGE DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE IT IS TYPICAL TO HAVE CAR PROBLEMS. I UNDERSTAND CAR PROBLEMS, BUT JUST TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD AND HAVE THE ALTERNATOR CATCH FIRE IT NOT TYPICAL CAR PROBLEMS.
CRANKED THE CAR ONE MORNING AND WHEN STARTED DRIVING ,THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND WAS LOOSING POWER. THE CAR WAS STALLING AFTER 20 MINUTES DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME WITH A MISFIRE CYLINDER #5. FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC REVEAL BROKEN CAM SHAFT. THE CAR HAS ONLY 66773 MILES. THE REPAIR WAS DONE IT WAS LONG AND EXPENSIVE ABOUT $4500.
JUNE 2017, RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, REPLACED THE BULB, HARD THEY HARNESS AND WIRES CHANGED AND IT STILL SHORTS OUT. HEADLIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF WHILE IT IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. OCTOBER 1, 2017, I STARTED THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AS NORMAL BUT THEN A FEW SECONDS LATER IT SHUT OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH, TRUCK WAS NOW IN ACC MODE. I SUSPECT AND ISSUE WITH THE TIPM.
EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY INSTALLED AS PART OF RECALL R09 HAS FAILED 2 YEARS AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO START NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE FINALLY COMPLETELY NON STARTING ON 9.30.17 WHILE AT MY HOME.
DURING SUMMER 2017, 5.7L HEMI STARTED TO MAKE A NOTICEABLE CLICKING NOISE AT 70,000 MILES ALTHOUGH IT HAD BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. IN SEPT 2017 AT 72,000 THE ENGINE FAILED WITH A GRINDED CAMSHAFT DUE TO A ROLLER/LIFTER FAILURE. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED OUT OF WARRANTY BY SPECIALTY HEMI ENGIEN SHOP PRO ENGINES LLC IN ELON, NC. TODAY, I AM REALIZING THAT THIS WAS NOT A RANDOM OCCURRENCE. I HAVE FOUND MANY TESTIMONIES ONLINE AND IN PERSON OF 5.7L HEMI OWNERS HAVING EXPERIENCED SIMILAR DRAMATIC AND COSTLY FAILURES OF THEIR ENGINE CAMSHAFT DUE ROLLER / LIFTER FAILURE AS EXPLAINED CLEARLY FOR EXAMPLE IN THESE VIDEOS: HERE (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=INPUZ3PCHA0), HERE (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=LG5QX9QOJGO) OR HERE (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=_2CX11TUTIC) LUCKILY THIS ENGINE FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE INJURY AS IT FAILED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, BUT I CONCUR THAT IT COULD HAVE IF THE FAILURE AT HAPPENED AT THE WRONG MOMENT AND I THINK THAT DODGE IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS TRYING TO HIDE IT I CONCUR THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILURE IS AN ENGINEERING ISSUE THAT DODGE SHOULD CORRECT AND FIX UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AS REPLACING THE ENGINE WAS VERY EXPANSIVE AND IS TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS FOR A LESS THAN 6 YEARS OLD AND 72,000 MILES PERFECTLY MAINTAINED TRUCK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. AFTER THE CONTACT OPENED THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRING FROM THE MIRROR CAUSED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ORANGE PARK DODGE (7233 BLANDING BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32244). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING) DAYS BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THE TRANSMISSION COOLER WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING SEVERELY. LUCKILY NOTICED BEFORE OVERHEATING AND DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUMTER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP & RAM (2662 BROAD STREET, SUMTER, SC, 29150) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LINE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE PARTS HAVING TO BE ORDERED. THE LOCAL DEALER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE AREA OF THE LEAKAGE REMAINED CLEAN OF OIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
MY DODGE DURANGO STOPPED WORKING ONE WEEK AGO. AT THAT TIME I LOOKED ONLINE TO FIND THE ALTERNATOR RECALL BUT THAT THEY WOULD BE NOTIFYING PEOPLE AT A LATER DATE. FOR A WEEK THEY HAD MY CAR AND REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR KNOWING DODGE HAD BAD ALTERNATORS AND MADE ME PURCHASE A BATTERY. MY CAR AGAIN DIED THE SAME DAY AFTER MY PARTNER LEFT THE LOT. AFTER IT WAS AGAIN TOWED FOR THE SECOND TIME THEY FOUND THAT MY CAR WAS NOW UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY TOLD THEM THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR. THE WEBSITE STATES THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH A BROKEN CAR WITH MY CAR VALUE DROPPING SIGNIFICANTLY. DODGE NEEDS TO REFUND ME THE MONEY I HAVE ALREADY SPENT PLUS MILEAGE AND GAS COMMUNITING TO AND FROM VIERA TO TITUSVILLE FLORIDA DRIVING MY PARTNER TO WORK AND PICKING MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL AND GOING BACK AND FORTH AND EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A RENTAL CAR AND LEFT IN THE DARK AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY CAR. IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT I PAID OUT ALMOST 1,000 TO GO OUT TO MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND IT DID NOT WORK. AT THAT TIME THE MAN WALKED INSIDE AND CAME BACK OUT WITH A PIECE FOR THE FUEL RELAY RECALL. I AGAIN WANT TO KNOW WHY THIS DODGE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO CHARGE ME AND PLAY ME FOR A FOOL. DODGE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED. HOW DOES SOMEONE NOW CHECK FOR RECALLS BEFORE OPERATING ON A VEHICLE?
MY POWER STEERING STARTED TO GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WE WERE SURE IF IT WAS A GLITCH SINCE THE CAR CAN SOMETIMES BE GLITCHY,LIKE THE RADIO FUNCTIONS NOT WORKING OR THE CAR CUTS OFF BUT IS SOMEHOW STILL RUNNING. ANYWAY, ON 18 AUG, I NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT IF YOU DON'T PRESS THE BREAK PADDLE. AGAIN, IT DIDN'T START OUT THAT WAY, BUT PROCEEDED THE MOVE I DROVE. BY 26 AUG, IT WAS GOING OUT JUST ABOUT FROM THE TIME I STARTED THE CAR UNTIL I STOPPED FOR THE DAY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON28 AUG AND HAD THE PUMP REPLACED. I GOT MY CAR BACK ON 29 AUG. SO FAR, NO ISSUES. THE INCIDENTS TOOK PLACE MAINLY WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, PARKING. I NOTICED THAT IT A LITTLE WHEN I WAS DRIVING THAT THE WHEEL WOULD STIFFEN BUT IT WAS NOT TOO BAD SINCE I COULD JUST PRESS THE GAS PADDLE AND IT WOULD LOOSEN.
I WAS DRIVING THE DURANGO AND THE AIR WENT OFF, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, OTHER WARNINGS SENSORS AND BELLS WENT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK HOME AND REPLACE BATTERY. INSTALLED THE NEW BATTERY AND DROVE AROUND BLOCK. THE ALTERNATOR STARTED SMOKING BAD AND YOU COULD SMELL THE BURNING WIRES. TOWED IT TO THE SHOP, THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY AGAIN AND ALTERNATOR AND STILL HAVE ISSUES. THEY HAVE ELECTRICAL BEING CHECKED OUT. SAY IT MAY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE COMPUTER. WE ARE OVER $1200 SO FAR AND CLIMBING.

THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WITHOUT WARNING MY ALTERNATOR HAS FAILED ON MY DURANGO, I WENT TO START IT UP FOR WORK AND I GOT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I LOOKED UP RECALLS, BECAUSE IT FRIED MY BATTERY AS WELL, AND I SEE A RECALL ON SOME MODELS WITH THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR, BUT NOT MINE BECAUSE IT IS 180 AMP. THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED, BECAUSE I HAVE HAD AN ALTERNATOR GO OUT BEFORE ON OTHER VEHICLES, BUT THERE ARE WARNING SIGNS, AND THERE WERE NONE WHICH WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A FAULTY DEVICE OR HOOK UP. TH8S IS COSTING ME ALMOST $1000, WHICH AS A MILITARY SPOUSE WITH 2 CHILDREN AND A DEPLOYED HUSBAND WE DO NOT HAVE FOR SOME ERRONEOUS PART.
BRAKE BOOSTER HAS A LEAK IN IT SOMEWHERE. WHEN THE VEHICLE FIRST STARTS UP, THERE IS NO BRAKING ASSIST, ONCE THE CAR RUNS FOR A FEW MINUTES THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. IF THE CAR SITS FOR A WHILE, IT HAPPENS AGAIN ON STARTUP. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL IN A NUMBER OF 2012 DURANGOS FOR A FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER AND THINK MAYBE IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER THIS ONE AS WELL.
COMPUTER FAILURE: BAD ALTERNATOR (FOR WHICH THERE IS A RECALL) MALFUNCTIONED, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, AND AT THE SAME TIME, DAMAGED THE COMPUTER, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS (SEAT BELT, OIL, ALTERNATOR, ETC.) WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF. I WAS TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED INTO A SPACE, BUT THE ENGINE DIED AND I COASTED TO A STOP. CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER THAT.
LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, WAS DRIVING WHEN BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WITH AN ELECTRICAL SMELL. CONTINUED DRIVING TO A MIDAS WHEN ALL LIGHTS AND BELLS WERE GOING OFF. EVENTUALLY TRIED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND STEERING WAS GONE AND I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO COAST INTO MIDAS. THEY DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED ALTERNATOR. MY MECHANIC TOWED THE CAR TO HIS SHOP AND REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY BUT THAT WAS NOT THE SOLUTION. IT ENDED UP BEING THE PCM. EXPENSIVE FIX THAT MAY PUSH ME TOWARDS PURCHASING A DIFFERENT VEHICLE INSTEAD.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GOODYEAR SHOP IN HIGHLAND TEXAS FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

HE HAS HAD AN EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING AND COSTLY FEW DAYS TRYING TO REPAIR. SEEMED JUST LIKE THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED REPLACING BUT THEN HE SAID BATTERY WAS DEAD. REPLACED WITH NEW BATTERY AND THAT WAS KILLED. HE CHARGED BATTERIES SEPARATELY AND THEY WERE FINE, SOON AS THEY WERE PUT INTO CAR THEY WERE QUICKLY DRAINED. HE SUSPECTED COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS SHOT. CALLED IN SPECIALIST TO CONFIRM. MEANWHILE I SEE THERE IS AN UPCOMING RECALL T36 FOR THIS EXACT SUDDEN ALTERNATOR FAILURE ISSUE (WHICH MINE SHOULD FALL UNDER) BUT NOTICES NOT GOING OUT UNTIL 8/24/17. ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!! I'VE READ THE RECENT COMPLAINTS AND SOME PEOPLE WERE DRIVING WHEN THEIR WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AND CAR SHUT DOWN. POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH ECM AND/OR CAC". THE MECHANIC ALSO POINTED OUT TO ME SAFETY RECALL P60/NHTSA WHICH WAS FOR A 2012 DODGE DURANGO (SAME MODEL YEAR AS MINE). WHEN I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALER ABOUT THIS RECALL, HE INSTRUCTED ME THAT IT WAS ONLY FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR. MINE CONTAINED THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR & WAS BUILT ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE RECALLED VEHICLES. HOWEVER, BOTH THE 160 AMP & THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR SEEM TO SUFFER FROM THE SAME PROBLEMS. WITH ONLY A SHORT CHECK OF THE INTERNET, I WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY OVER 100 CASES OF 180 AMP DODGE DURANGO SUDDENLY LOSING POWER WHILE BEING DRIVEN & CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL FAILURE; SOME TRAVELING AS FAST AS 40-50 MPH. LUCKY FOR ME, I WAS ONLY GOING 10-15 MPH WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS. AS VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED IN DRIVE WAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AS DRIVER WALKED PAST VEHICLE ON THE WAY IN HOUSE HE SMELLED SOMETHING SO POPPED HOOD AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM WHAT APPEARS TO BE ALTERNATOR AND NOTICED BURN MARKS. POWER SEEMED TO BE GONE AS REMOTE WOULD NOT WORK TO LOCK DOORS. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CAME AND WHEN HE CONNECTED A LITTLE BATTERY PACK TYPE THING TO BATTERY TO TRY AND CHARGE THERE WERE SPARKS. WHEN HE ATTACHED JUMPER CABLES, THEY GOT FRIED TO THE POINT THE HANDLE WAS SEPARATED FROM THE CABLE AND JUST SHORT OF CATCHING FIRE BUT THE OTHER CAR WAS TURNED OFF TO AVOID THE FIRE. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO SHOP. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET CAR TO EVEN JUMP OR START USING BATTERY PACK AND WHEN THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY ALL TOGETHER WHATEVER THE ISSUE IS FRIED THAT BATTERY. AGAIN WAS ABLE TO SMELL SOMETHING. WAS ADVISED IT APPEARS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE WIRING. ON 5/10 CAR WAS TAKEN TO DODGE DEALER FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WAS TOLD FUEL PUMP WAS ISSUE SINCE RELAY HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED AS PART OF RECALL BUT WHEN THEY TOOK RELAY OFF THEY FOUND BURN MARKS ON IT AS WELL AND REPLACED IT.
WHILE DRIVING, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED CAUSING A NEAR CRASH WITH MYSELF, MY DAUGHTER, AND TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS IN THE VEHICLE. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT HAVE NEVER HEARD OF AN FAILED ALTERNATOR ACTUALLY SHUTTING DOWN A CAR WHILE DRIVING! WITH A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE IS, IN FACT, A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, ON THIS YEAR VEHICLE, AND YET SOMEHOW MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL?? IT'S A $1700 REPAIR. . BESIDES THE EXPENSE, IT'S A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. MY ALTERNATOR FAILED, EXACTLY AS WARNED IN THE RECALL -- THE REPAIR SHOULD NOT BE AT MY EXPENSE. THIS IS NOT OK!
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO 4TH GEAR. I WAS GOING ABOUT 10 MPH BECAUSE I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. AFTER I STOPPED I PROCEEDED TO TAKE OFF AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED. ONCE IT STARTED TO MOVE I NOTICED THE VEHICLE JERKED A LITTLE AND MOVED REALLY SLOW BUT THE RPM WAS REALLY HIGH. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO A DODGE SHOP NEAR MY HOUSE. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND TOLD ME THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE SHIFT SOLENOID PACK IN THE TRANSMISSION. I AGREED TO THE REPAIR AND PAID $639.65 FOR THE REPAIR TO BE DONE. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIR DONE WITHIN A YEAR.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A LOT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE PUSH START DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK AND STALLS OUT. THE CAR HAS ALSO LOST POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING LUCKILY IT KICK BACK ON BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENED. IT ALSO TENDS TO SHIFT GEARS VERY HARD AT TIMES.
