RECALL 19V-813 IS FOR SAFETY AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED SINCE THE ENGINE BEGAN STOPPING IN 2013 NOR SINCE THE FIRST RECALL OR SINCE THE SECOND RECALL IN NOVEMBER 2019. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE HAD THE CAR STOP WHILE DRIVING AND NOT RESTART. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT START IN THE GARAGE. I HIT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WITH A HAMMER AND IT WILL WORK FOR A LITTLE WHILE. DODGE DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO FIX THIS MYSELF. CAN I HAVE A NEW CAR? (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED. THE DEALER KOLOSSO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2701 W COLLEGE AVE, APPLETON, WI 54914 (920) 843-5920) STATED THAT THEY WOULD FIX AND COVER THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER UP TO 10 TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HOWEVER THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE DEALER EVENTUALLY STATED THEY WOULD NO LONGER COVER THE VEHICLE REPAIRS AND ASKED IF THE CONTACT WOULD TRADE THE VEHICLE IN AND PURCHASE A NEW ONE. MOST RECENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE BEING DRIVEN AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE HAD A RECALL FIXED ON THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING.DIDN'T DO THAT BEFORE THE WORK
CAR COMPLETE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT WARNING. SMOKE WAS COMING OUT. ALTERNATOR IS NOT WORKING AND DRAIN BATTERY LIFE
AS I TURNED RIGHT, THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN STALLED. THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, BUT ALL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CONTINUED TO WORK. I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO DEMONSTRATE THAT IT WOULD NOT MOVE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THEN I DID THE SAME WITH THE BREAK TO DEMONSTRATE THAT IT WOULDN'T RESPOND. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE AND MY OLDEST SON RECORDED UNTIL WE REACHED THE INTENDED STOPPING POINT. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 94,624. THE VEHICLE HAD A TRIGGER BOX / FLIGHT RECORDER, BUT IT QUIT FUNCTIONING THE PREVIOUS WEEK WHEN THE CAR ALSO STOPPED LAST WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER AND PCM BOX FAILED. AN UNKNOWN WIRE RELATED TO THE PCM BOX BURNED AND THE STARTER AND PCM BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,377.
MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. WITHIN MINUTES ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD CAME ON, MY AIR STARTING BLOWING HOT AND THEN IT STARTED TO STALL. LUCKILY I WAS ON A SMALL ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF ONTO THE GRASS. THE CAR WAS DEAD AND SMOKE WAS POURING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR. WITHIN IN 2 MINUTES OF INSTALLING BOTH, MY CAR DID THE SAME EXACT THING. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD ALREADY REPLACED IT AND THINK IT COULD BE MORE SEVERE. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WITH LABOR I'M LOOKING AT $1200. THAT'S NOT INCLUDING IF THAT DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THEY SAIS IT COULD HAVE FRIED MY (PCM) POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH COULD COST ME AT LEAST $1000 MORE PLUS LABOR. HOW IS IT THEY AREN'T RECALLING THE 2012 DURANGO WITH 180 AMP ALTERNATOR BUT ALL THE OTHERS? THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR GOING ON 3 TIMES NOW. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY SON IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. I'VE SEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS SAYING THIS CAUSED ACCIDENTS SINCE THE CAR JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING.
OUR DODGE DURANGO STALLED AS I WAS TURNING LEFT. WHEN I WENT TO PUSH THE TRIGGER BOX, IT DID NOT WORK AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAITED, BUT THE TRIGGER BOX NO LONGER WORKS. THIS IS OF COURSE STRANGE BECAUSE ONCE AGAIN, NOTHING CAN BE RECORDED. THE KEY FOB BATTERY IS BRAND NEW AND THE PUSH BUTTON WAS IN USE. I HAVE A VIDEO FOR DOCUMENTATION. THE MILEAGE IS 94,017. WE HAVE RECORDED VIA TRIGGER BOX DAILY JERKS WITH THE DURANGO AND NOW THE MAJOR ISSUE WE NEEDED DOCUMENTATION OF CAN'T BE CAPTURED BECAUSE THE DEVICE NO LONGER OPERATES.
MY DURANGO DIED WHILE DRIVING. I HAD JUST HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY THE ALTERNATOR. I DID NOT MAKE IT HOME 2 MILES AWAY. IT WAS TOWED TO A FIRESTONE WHO REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY TO DISCOVER THE PCM WAS RUINED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A 2012 DODGE DURANGO BUT IT WAS FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR AND NOT FOR HTE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR. THEY SAID THE RECALL NUMBER WAS P60 AND EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO MY DURANGO MATCHES THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL. MY DURANGO WAS LATER TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND PCM.
UPON ARRIVING HOME, A STRONG ODOR OF ELECTRICAL BURNING WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE ELECTRICAL LIGHT CAME ON AND SMOKE WAS VISIBLE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF. SIMILAR TO RECALL P60; HOWEVER OUR CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE OF A DIFFERENT ALTERNATOR AND SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ENGINE TYPE.
I CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT TO TURN RIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO RECORD IT BECAUSE THERE WERE CARS COMING DOWN THE EXIT BEHIND ME. I IMMEDIATELY KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THE MILEAGE IS AT 93,322. THE FLIGHT RECORDER THE DEALERSHIP PLACED ON THE VEHICLE DIDN'T WORK SO THERE WAS NOTHING TO CAPTURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL. AS A RESULT, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT START WHEN YOU PRESS THE KEYLESS IGNITION SWITCH. THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT IN A PARKING LOT, THIS MORNING IN MY GARAGE, AND TWICE TODAY IN PARKING LOTS. IT ALSO HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN A ROW. I HAVE HAD TO PRESS THE SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AND REMOVE THE KEY FOB FROM MY PURSE. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE PREVIOUSLY. THE BATTERY IN THE FOB IS FINE, AS THE REMOTE START, REMOTE LIFT GATE AND REMOTE LOCK/UNLOCK ALL WORK. LAST NIGHT THE VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO UNLOCK THE DOOR USING THE KEYLESS METHOD AND I HAD TO PRESS THE REMOTE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB. ALSO THE EASY EXIT SEAT DOES NOT MOVE WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS FUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR AWHILE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS SET TO MOVE. I FEEL THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITHIN THE KEYLESS IGNITION MODULE.
MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO HAD A BREAK BOOSTER FALILURE DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING BREAKS NOT TO WORK PROPERLY THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2011 THRU 2014 BUT THE DEALER SAYS MY VIN ISNT IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD POSSIBLY ASSIST WITH THE COST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,044.
2012 DURANGO HAS CONTINUED TO PERIODICALLY STALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE IS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RESTART AFTER PUTTING IN PARK. PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUOUSLY TO FIND AND FIX PROBLEM. PROPER SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE HAVE BEEN PREFORMED FOR THE DURATION OF THE OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT NO CODES FOR THE STALLING ARE PRESENTING AND ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROCEED WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THERE ARE CONCERNS FOR SAFETY OF FAMILY AND SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH NOT KNOWING WHEN ANOTHER STALL WILL OCCUR. SO FAR, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON A CITY STREET DECELERATING INTO A STOP AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN THE STALLING OCCURS. MOST RECENTLY, VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN TO YIELD FOR A TRAFFIC CIRCLE WHEN THE STALLING OCCURRED MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO FULLY BRAKE AND MANAGE THE STEERING WHEEL. SOME OF THE SERVICES COMPLETED TO HOPEFULLY RECTIFY THE STALLING WERE; FUEL PUMP RELAY REPLACED, EVAPORATE SYSTEM INTEGRITY MONITOR REPLACED, BOTH FUEL PUMPS REPLACED, TRANSMISSION SERVICE PERFORMED. STALLING IS STILL OCCURRING PERIODICALLY WITH NO RESOLUTION AT THIS TIME. FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED WAS IN THE BEGINNING OF 2017 (NOT SURE OF SPECIFIC DATE). IT STALLED A FEW TIMES BEFORE WE BROUGHT IT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

REPEATED ELECTRICAL FAILURES AT START UP. SEPT 8 2014- ELECTRICAL FAILURE AT START UP: ENGINE LIGHT ON, STABILIZATION LIGHT ON, TURN SIGNAL NON-OPERATIONAL, UNABLE TO ACCESS THE MILAGE/TEMPERATURE MENU/COMPUTER, WINDSHIELD WIPER ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. RESULT: ONE WEEK IN THE SHOP AND THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. - DEC 23- LEFT TAIL LIGHT BURNT OUT AND WAS REPLACED -JAN 15 2015- SECOND ELECTRICAL FAILURE AT START UP: ENGINE LIGHT ON, STABILIZATION LIGHT ON, TURN SIGNAL NON-OPERATIONAL, UNABLE TO ACCESS THE MILAGE/TEMPERATURE MENU/COMPUTER, WINDSHIELD WIPER ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. RESULT: ONE WEEK IN THE SHOP AND THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. APRIL 1 2015- THIRD ELECTRICAL FAILURE AT START UP: ENGINE LIGHT ON, STABILIZATION LIGHT ON, TURN SIGNAL NON-OPERATIONAL, UNABLE TO ACCESS THE MILAGE/TEMPERATURE MENU/COMPUTER, WINDSHIELD WIPER ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND CLAIMED THERE WAS "NOTHING WRONG" WITH THE CAR. THEN I CALLED CORPORATE AND WAS SENT OVER TO THE RESOLUTION TEAM. THEY ARRANGED FOR ME TO DROP OFF THE CAR FOR TESTING ON APRIL 14. I PICKED UP THE CAR ON MAY 15- THEY CLAIM THERE WERE NO FIXES WERE MADE AND THAT THEY "COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM". FEB 3 2017- FOURTH ELECTRICAL FAILURE AT START UP: ENGINE LIGHT ON, STABILIZATION LIGHT ON, TURN SIGNAL NON-OPERATIONAL, UNABLE TO ACCESS THE MILAGE/TEMPERATURE MENU/COMPUTER, WINDSHIELD WIPER ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS SHORT TO HAPPEN REPEATEDLY.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING (VERY INTERMITTENTLY). DOES NOT LOG ANY ENGINE CODES AND MAINLY HAPPENS ON DECELERATION. BUT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY AND ALSO AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN. WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BUT ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS KEEP WORKING RADIO, LIGHTS, ETC... I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER CARE OPENED A CASE, WHICH THEY ASSISTED IN SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER. THE CASE WAS CLOSED BY CHRYSLER SINCE THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT AND IT NOW HAS 76,000 AND HAS STALLED ON US SEVERAL TIMES I WOULD SAY (12) OVER THE 26,000 MILES WE HAVE POUT ON IT. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS COMPLAINT/PROBLEM WITH THE 2011/2012 DURANGO IT IS WIDELY KNOWN AND A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE TO BE IGNORING, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS.
MY DODGE DURANDO 2012 HAVE TO MANY PROBLEMS MY CAR STOP WITHN IS RUNNING SEVERAL TIMES A TAKE TO DEALER THE CHANGE THE FUEL PUMP AND THE NEX DAY HAVE ENEGINE LIGTH TAKE BACK TO DEALER NOW THE SAID IS CATALYST , AND ARENT BUT MY CAR 2012 I BELIEVE IS NOT TO OLD TO HAVE TO MANY PROBLEMS I BELIEVE IT'S ALL FACTORY DEFAULT.
AROUND 7:20 AM I HAD JUST EXITED A RAMP TO GO BENEATH THE UNDERPASS TO TURN LEFT. THE MILEAGE CHANGE WAS 60 MPH TO 35 MPH. BEFORE THE CAR COULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP APPLIED BY BRAKES, IT STALLED. THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND US WHO HAD TO GO AROUND. MY CHILDREN WERE WITH ME AND ONE RECORDED TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND THAT THE BRAKE AND THE GAS WOULD NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE CAR. THIS IS THE THIRD DAY IN A ROW THAT VEHICLE HAS STALLED SINCE WE RECEIVED IN BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION. AS I TURNED THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED. I HAD TO VEER TO THE RIGHT AS MUCH AS I COULD. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, IT SHOOK. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME. DUE TO IT BEING NIGHT AND WHERE I WAS POSITIONED, I COULDN'T RECORD THE ISSUE, BUT I DID DOCUMENT THE MILEAGE.
I WAS IN LINE TO TURN LEFT UNDER THE UNDERPASS. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AS I TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD. I HAD TO TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SIGNAL OTHER TO GO AROUND ON THE RIGHT BECAUSE NO ONE COULD PASS ME ON THE LEFT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THERE WAS NO DASHBOARD LIGHT TO INDICATE THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. MY SON WAS ABLE TO RECORD AND SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND NOT MOVING. I CONTACTED THE AREA MANAGER TO ASK IF THIS KNOWN, UNSAFE VEHICLE COULD BE BOUGHT BACK AT THE HIGHEST NADA VALUE. HIS RESPONSE WAS, 'I'M NOT OFFERING A REPURCHASE.' HE SHARED THAT HE WOULD GET ANOTHER TECHNICIAN PERSONALLY INVOLVED. WE JUST RECEIVED THE CAR FROM THE SHOP ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2017 AFTER THE ENTIRE TIPM WAS REPLACED AND IT STOPPED AGAIN! *TR
AS I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A COMMUNITY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON. I THEN PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AGAIN AND IT WAS STIFF. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I PLACED MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I PRESSED THE ENGINE BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE CAME ON. I TURNED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS OFF, PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND CONTINUED MY DESTINATION. I HAVE A VIDEO, BUT IT EXCEEDS THE UPLOAD SIZE FOR THIS SITE.

MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WENT TO PUT ON HER SEAT BELT (2ND ROW PASSENGERS SIDE) I WAS IN PARK CAR TURNED OFF. THE SEAT BELT FELL FROM THE WALL IN WHICH IT WAS CONNECTED. ALL DAMAGE SEEN WAS LOCATED WITHIN THE WALL. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATING OF ALL OTHER SEAT BELTS I FOUND THE 3RD ROW PASSENGERS SIDE WAS ALSO DAMAGED. I CAN COUNT ON 1 HAND HOW MANY TIMES SOMEONE HAS SAT IN THE 3RD ROW. I TOOK MY CAR DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS DUE TO "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" SINCE I NO LONGER HAVE A SERVICE WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE BELTS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY (REF #30773827 AND EMAIL CASE# 3424728) AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE BELTS BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSED BY AN "OUTSIDE INFLUENCE AND NOT MANUFACTURE DEFECT." I HAD JUST EXITED AN UPHILL RAMP AFTER COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY FROM ABOUT 65 MPH TO 35 MPH. AFTER ENTERING THE RAMP I HAD TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO WAS PART OF THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 15V115000. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015. THE REPAIR TEMPORARILY FIXED THE ISSUE. OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MANY ISSUES WITH STARTING AND/OR STAYING ON AND HAS BEEN TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHEN IT WOULD NO LONGER START. THERE WAS A LOOSE WIRE FOUND FOR THE EXTERNAL REPLACEMENT PART INSTALLED AS THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE THEN RAN NORMALLY FOR A WEEK BEFORE IT STARTED TO SHOW ISSUES WITH STARTING AND STAYING ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM QUICKLY ESCALATED WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT ALMOST DAILY UPON BEING STARTED AND SOMETIMES THE ISSUE COULD ONLY BE RESOLVED BY THE EXTERNAL FUEL KIT RELAY MODULE BEING TAPPED. TODAY, 11/02/16 THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, LUCKILY IT WAS IN A SCHOOL ZONE WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC SO ANY POSSIBLY ACCIDENTS WERE AVOIDED. AN HOUR LATER THE VEHICLE STARTED ACTING AS IF LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WHILE TURNING AND THE GAS PEDAL HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO STABILIZE THE VEHICLE. THE LOCAL DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THIS ISSUE HAS PERSISTED AND WE WERE ADVISED THAT THEY HAD FULFILLED THEIR DUTIES UNDER THE RECALL AND WE COULD BRING THE CAR IN WHEN THERE WAS AN OPENING BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT THEY COULD DO UNLESS THE ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS THERE. *TR

MY ALTERNATOR SUDDENLY FAILED CAUSING ALL SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE TO FAIL. MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON RADIO POWERED OFF HEAT CAME ON AND IT SMELLED LIKE SMOKE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON WHEN I WAS AT A LIGHT THEN I TURNED AT LIGHT AND HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF SINCE I SMELLED SMOKE. THERE IS A P60 RECALL ON THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR WHICH ISN'T THE ALTERNATOR IN MY CAR BUT SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AS MY CAR WAS RECALLED. THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THAT RECALL HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE SAME AMP ALTERNATOR THAT IS IN MY CAR AS WELL.

IN DECEMBER 2011 I PURCHASED A NEW 2012 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL FROM NORTHTOWN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (NDCJR), IN TONAWANDA, NY. I AM HAVING AN ISSUES WITH PERIODIC STALLING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. IN APRIL 2016 WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT RIGHT VIA A THRUWAY RAMP THE DURANGO STALLED AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO NDCJR ON 4/30/2016 AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE 'UNABLE TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE'. IN JULY 2016, MY HUSBAND EXPERIENCED THE STALLING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. MY MOST TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE CAME IN AUGUST OF 2016 WHEN I WAS ON A MAIN ROAD IN BUSY EVENING TRAFFIC, SLOWING DOWN TO MERGE INTO THE LEFT TURNING LANE, AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKING AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING ME TO REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I CONTACTED NCDJR TO INFORM THEM THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING AGAIN AND THAT I NEEDED MY VEHICLE SERVICED. NORTHTOWN HAD MY VEHICLE FROM 8/6/2016-8/30/2016 AND I WAS AGAIN TOLD, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE 'THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM'. ON THE EVENING OF THURSDAY, 9/29/2016 I WAS GETTING OFF AT AN EXPRESSWAY RAMP AND WAS SITTING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, AND WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR MADE NO MOTION, I WAS AGAIN STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. PER THEIR INSTRUCTION, I CONTACTED NCDJR AND TOLD THEM I WAS BRINGING THE VEHICLE RIGHT OVER. THEY AGAIN COULD NOT "DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" HOWEVER THEY DECIDED TO PUT A TRACKING DEVICE ON THE CAR SO THAT WHEN IT STALLS AGAIN IT CAN BE RECORDED. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP 6 DAYS LATER ON WEDNESDAY, 10/5/2016. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT AND HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALL OF THE PROPER CHANNELS, HOWEVER, I AM BEING ASKED TO CONTINUE TO PUT MY FAMILY, MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK BY DRIVING A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO HAVE ON THE ROAD IN THIS CONDITION. *TR

OCCASIONALLY THE CAR CONTINUES TO TURN OVER BUT NEVER ACTUALLY STARTS. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE DEALER 7-8 TIMES AND THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THESE PROBLEMS. NO ERROR CODES RECORDED. NEVER ABLE TO BE REPRODUCED WHEN AT THE DEALER. CONTACTED ANOTHER DODGE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THESE ISSUES EITHER. TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND HE IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED THIS AS A POTENTIAL TIPM ISSUE. THE FUEL RELAY RECALL WAS IMPLEMENTED IN SUMMER OF 2015 WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUE. HOWEVER, ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO INTERMITTENTLY OCCUR - WITH THE STALLING (AND NEAR ACCIDENTS) JUST OCCURRING FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS PAST WEEK. SPOKE WITH DODGE YESTERDAY EXPLAINING THE SITUATION AND BOTH DEALERS DIDN'T WANT TO SELL ME A NEW TIPM BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SURE IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AND REITERATED THAT THE FUEL RELAY RECALL WOULD FIX THESE ISSUES. WHEN I STATED THAT I AM STILL HAVING THE ISSUES THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN ANSWER BUT WERE WILLING TO TAKE MY CAR IN ON TRADE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 93000 MILES BUT THIS STARTED SHORTLY AFTER WE PURCHASED THE DURANGO; WITH WELL UNDER 40000 MILES. WE WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THIS STARTED BUT NO FAULT WAS EVER FOUND WHEN AT THE DEALER.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 2016, THE ALTERNATOR ON THIS VEHICLE FAILED WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS: HIGH HEAT, BURNING SMELL, AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE HAS A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR. THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS OF THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR FAILING IN VERY SIMILAR WAYS AS THE 160 AMP. THE RECALL MUST BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL ALTERNATORS FOR THE DOGDGE DURANGO. A FAILURE AT LESS THAN 60,000 MILES, AND A FAILURE IN A MANNER THAT PRESENTS A RISK OF FIRE IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED QUICKLY.
ALTERNATOR FAILED IN MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 4 YEARS 3 MONTHS, 48,904 MILES AND DO MOSTLY CITY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I BEGAN TO SMELL A BURNT SCENT. IN ADDITION, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED IN AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND BURNED THE SERPENTINE BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,500.

MY VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING THIS ISSUE IN 2015. MY VEHICLE HAS A LONG CRANK AND SOMETIMES DOES NOT TURN OVER. IT WILL ALSO TURN OVER, THEN SPUTTER OUT AFTER RUNNING FOR 20-30 SECONDS. IN 2015, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING ON/NOT TURNING OVER. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED DEALER AND THE TIPM MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY HAD THE ISSUE TURNING OVER, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. IN 2016, MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON, AND THE GEARS WOULD NOT CHANGE TO FACILITATE A TOW. UPON OPENING THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE, IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND FUSES (OF WHICH I HAVE VIDEO). I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS CALLED BY A SERVICE ADVISOR THE NEXT DAY. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WIN MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHICH I PAID FOR. IN ADDITION, MY BATTERY HAD DIED, AND I PAID TO REPLACE THAT. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP I HAD VIDEO OF THE ALTERNATOR AND FUSES MALFUNCTIONING AND THEY STATED THEY DID NOT NEED THE VIDEO AS THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS POINTED TO AN ISSUE WITH THE WIN MODULE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING OVER. I REQUESTED A TOW AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SUGGESTED I USE THE ACTUAL KEY INSTEAD OF THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION, WHICH I HAVE BEEN DOING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN IN OCTOBER, AS THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO HAVE THE LONG CRANK ISSUE AND WOULD INTERMITTENTLY NOT START. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ALTERNATOR, BUT A REPLACEMENT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY ALTERNATOR, BUT INFORMED ME THAT IT STILL WOULD NOT BE THE IMPROVED/RECALL PART. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK IN THREE (3) MORE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND EVERY TIME, I AM TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPDATE.
