THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS ALONG WITH AUDIBLE ALARM FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT THEN IT WENT OFF.
DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN NJ ON 7/21/16 , ALL THE CAR WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON RANDOMLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT ON ON THEIR OWN, RADIO SHUT OFF, ALL POWER WAS LOST AND CAR SHUT DOWN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH LIMITED OR NO BRAKING OR STEERING POWER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON ANY LONGER. I TRIED TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (LEFT SHOULDER WAS THE CLOSEST) WITH BIG TRUCKS AND FAST MOVING CARS GOING BY. HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHICH TOOK 2 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY DEEMED A FAILURE OF THE MAIN BOARD WHICH CAUSED THE ALTERNATOR TO FAIL WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO SEIZE AND FAIL AS WELL. THE COSTS OF REPAIR I HAD TO PAY TO FIX THE ISSUE ON MY 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 92K MILES ON IT WAS APPROX $1,500. THE SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS WERE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE P60 RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYLSER BUT WHEN I INQUIRED WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT GETTING MY VEHICLE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND REIMBURSED FOR THE COSTS OF REPAIR, THEY CLAIMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY CAR BC IT IS 180 AMP VS 160 AMP (?) BUT IT IS VERY OBVIOUS AND CLEAR TO ME THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE P60 RECALL. NOT TO MENTION IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT I ENCOUNTERED WITH MY CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO NAVIGATE IT WELL. CHRYSLER IS BASICALLY REFUSING TO EXTEND THE RECALL TO MY VIN # AND NOT REIMBURSING MY REPAIR COSTS.
WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH AN WERE APPROACHING A MAJOR HIGHWAY INTERSECTION. THE AIR IN THE CAR BEGAN TO GET WARM AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. WE WERE BLESSED TO BE NEAR A SHOULDER WHERE WE COULD PULL OVER. I TURNED ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND WE PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. WE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A MOMENT AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. THE ENGINE SHOOK WHEN THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL STOPPING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND A WHINING SOUND WAS HEARD. IN ADDITION, WHILE PARKED, AN ODOR OF BURNT WIRES WAS NOTICED IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED 5 MORE TIMES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MCCUBBIN MOTORS LOCATED AT 301 E. CLIFTY DR, MADISON, IN 47250, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ADVISED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE RELAY. THE RELAY WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE REMEDY PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. *BF *JB
THE ENGINE REGULARLY WILL NOT START WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON. IT STALLS OVER AND OVER. SOMETIMES LEAVING US STRANDED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AT LEAST 2016 AND I HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS REPAIRED. THE MATTER HAS NEVER RESOLVED! NOW I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE INITIAL RECALL REPLACEMENT PART WAS FAULTY AND DODGE CURRENTLY DOES NOT HAVE A FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND TAKEN TO DADELAND DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 16501 S DIXIE HWY, MIAMI, FL 33157, (305) 278-9994, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SUN ROOF. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED FLAMES IN THE SAME LOCATION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE SCENE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TAKING KIDS TO SCHOOL WHEN BRAKE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON AND VEHICLE BRAKES WERE LIKE PUSHING A BRICK. HAD SOMEONE PICK UP THE KIDS AND TOOK TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP I USE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAD WENT OUT AND WHEN THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR A PART WAS TOLD IT WAS ON BACK ORDER NATIONALLY WITH NO ESTIMATE OF THE TIME TO TAKE TO GET THE PART IN STOCK. BEST GUESS WAS 3-6 MONTHS. NO MENTION THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE PART (P41). ITEM REPAIRED WITH A USED OEM PART FROM A LOW-MILEAGE DURANGO SINCE NO OTHER PART WAS AVAILABLE TO USE. I STILL HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION FROM REPAIR SHOP THAT IT WAS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED. ON INTERSTATE AGAIN TODAY WITH KIDS IN VEHICLE AND SUDDENLY HAD NO ABILITY TO GO ABOVE 20 MPH AND PULLED OVER TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TAKING IT IN FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY (R09) RECALL THIS MORNING ANYWAY. FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPAIRED. DEALERSHIP SAYS THE WHEELS LOCKED UP ON THEM AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER AT A COST OF $800 SINCE IT COULD BE RELATED TO PREVIOUS POWER BRAKE BOOSTER REPAIR DUE TO A USED PART REPLACEMENT. I ASKED IF THE PART WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT WAS DONE BY ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP AND A USED PART THAT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER THE PART AND IT WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET NOR COULD I RECOVER THE COST FROM THE PREVIOUS FIX EVEN THOUGHT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. ASKED FOR CORPORATE CONTACT AND WAS GIVEN (800)992-1997. SPOKE WITH REPRESENTATIVE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CALLED BACK. LATE AFTERNOON I CALLED AGAIN SINCE I WAS STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL BACK. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE COST WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET AND THAT THE RECALL WOULD NOT COVER PART OR REIMBURSEMENT SINCE A NON-CHRYSLER MECHANIC PERFORMED THE WORK AND A USED PART WAS USED.
THE ALTERNATOR IN MY DURANGO FAILED SUDDENLY. WE LUCKILY HAD JUST ARRIVED AT MY DAUGHTER'S DAY CAR WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN AND WE NOTICED SMOKE. WHEN WE GOT OUT TO CHECK UNDER THE HOOD, THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING! I HAD TO HAVE THE DURANGO TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP AS THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE DURANGO AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT START THE CAR USING A JUMPER BOX, OR BY JUMPING IT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR HAD COMPLETELY DRAINED THE BATTERY. WE WERE TOLD A FEW DAYS LATER THAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE AN ALTERNATOR AS IT WAS BACK ORDERED, AND IT COULD BE UP TO 6 WEEKS OR MORE BEFORE THEY COULD GET ONE. WHEN WE INQUIRED AS TO WHY, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR MANY CHRYSLER AND DODGE VEHICLES AND THAT EVEN THOUGH OUR DURANGO FALLS IN THE SPECIFIC YEARS, IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. WHEN THEY FINALLY CALLED TO LET US KNOW THE DURANGO WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP, WE DROVE MAYBE A HALF MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. WE RETURNED IT IMMEDIATELY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, THEY INFORMED US THAT BECAUSE OF THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE, THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW, THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING US THAT THE ECM IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BECAUSE OF THE ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT IT. THEY CONTACTED DODGE TO INFORM THEM OF THE FAULTY ALTERNATOR THAT CAUSED THE ECM FAILURE AND DODGE TOLD THEM, TOO BAD.
DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING CAR SHUT OFF, CHARGED BATTERY, ALTERNATOR STARTED SMOKING, REPLACED ALTERNATOR, REPLACED BATTERY, BATTERY IS STILL DRAINING.
ALTERNATOR FAILURE AS COMMON WITH THE P60 RECALL. THE ALTERNATOR IN MY DURANGO FAILED SUDDENLY AND WE LOST ALL POWER. WE WERE LUCKY IN THAT WE WERE ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AT LOW SPEED AND ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE SAFELY. THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING. MY DURANGO IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL SO I FELT IT IMPORTANT TO REPORT THIS IS STILL HAPPENING WITH OTHER ALTERNATORS WITH THE V6. I DID CALL INTO CHRYSLER AND THEY CONFIRMED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY P60.
MY DURANGO STARTED MAKING NOISE IN THE BACK END, AND SEEMED UNSTABLE AT TIMES HANDLING, AND EVEN WORSE WHEN TOWING. THE NOISE WAS MOST PRONOUNCED GOING SLOW OVER BUMPY ROADS, LIKE A CLUNKING NOISE. UPON RESEARCHING I DISCOVERED THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE KNOWN FOR HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR SELF-LEVELING SHOCKS. THESE SHOCKS ARE NOT A CHEAP FIX, BUT KNOWING I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME PROBLEMATIC SHOCKS, I REPLACED THEM. THE DURANGO WAS SILENT FOR A COUPLE DAYS, THEN A NOISE AGAIN APPEARED IN THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE. ISSUES WITH THE REAR SHOCKS ARE DESCRIBED IN CHRYSLER TSB 17-005-13 AS WELL AS TSB 17-002-14, BUT SINCE MINE IS A 2012 DURANGO AND NOT CALLED OUT FOR THE TSB 17-002-14. THE SHOCKS THAT WERE INSTALLED ARE THE NEW SERIES AH SHOCKS (FROM AA THAT WAS ON THE VEHICLE) THE AH SERIES PURCHASED CAME WITH MOUNTS PREINSTALLED. THE VEHICLE HAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF NOISE IN THE BACK END, AND CLUNKING GOING ON THAT IS DEFINITELY SHOCK RELATED, IT MAY BE A DIFFERENT NOISE THEN BEFORE, BUT NOW IT IS EVEN WORSE WITH THE NEW SHOCKS. SINCE REPLACING THE SHOCKS IT IS DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN WHEN THE NOISES/CLUNKING WILL HAPPEN ' IT USE TO HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY WHEN GOING SLOW OVER A BUMPY ROAD, NO THAT IS NOT THE CASE ' SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN GOING SLOW, SOMETIMES FASTER, SOMETIMES JUST AROUND A CORNER, THERE SEEMS TO BE NOTHING COMMON ABOUT WHEN THE SHOCKS ARE GOING TO START MAKING NOISE JUST THAT THEY WILL, AND THEY WILL MAKE NOISE OFTEN. IT JUST SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG, AND NOT SAFE IN THE REAR SUSPENSION.
MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO PURCHASED BRAND NEW HAS BEEN HAVING MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES SINCE THE MOTOR WAS POWER WASHED AT COVERT DODGE DEALERSHIP IN NORTH AUSTIN. THEY HAD AN INEXPERIENCED CAR WASHER CLEAN UP THE OIL THAT WAS ON THE MOTOR FROM A HOSE CHANGE. HE USED A VERY HIGH PRESSURE, PRESSURE WASHER AND IT SHORTED THE ELECTRONICS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR AT 3 DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERS TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ON 9/22/2016 THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE GOING 75 ON THE HIGHWAY. I SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF ELECTRICAL BURNING AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD CAME ON, THE BLIND SPOT ALERT SYSTEM WAS STATING IT WAS INOPERABLE, THE AC STOPPED WORKING, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT AND BUZZER STATED TO GO OFF EVEN THOUGH MY BELT WAS FASTENED AND THEN THE DURANGO JUST SHUT OFF, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOLL ROAD HIGHWAY STRANDING ME IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THE HAZARD LIGHTS DID NOT EVEN WORK. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO TRY TO RESTART IT BUT IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD, NOTHING WORKED AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK! I COULD NOT PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE HIGHWAY, SEVERAL CARS DID NOT REALIZE I WAS STOPPED AND LOCKED UP THEIR BRAKES NEARLY MISSING ME. I WAS SO AFRAID SOMEONE WAS GOING TO RUN RIGHT INTO THE BACK OF ME AND THE CAR. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED THE MOPAR WARRANTY ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND 1 HOURS LATER I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE 102 DEGREE HIGHWAY. AS A RESULT OF ALL OF THESE ISSUES, WHICH SEEM TO HAVE STARTED WHEN COVERT DODGE POWER WASHED THE ENGINE BAY, I AM NO LONGER CONFIDENT THE VEHICLE CAN BE TRUSTED AND BE RELIABLE NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY FACTOR. AS YOU CAN TELL FROM THE VEHICLE HISTORY, I FEEL I HAVE BEEN PATIENT AND COOPERATIVE IN ALLOWING CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIPS TO FIND A RESOLUTION. UPDATED 08/07/2017*JS
THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHETHER I AM DRIVING STRAIGHT OR MAKING A TURN, THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF NUMEROUS TIMES. DODGE CLAIMED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUGS AND SENSOR SO I HAD THAT FIXED. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR SHUT OFF. THEY HAVE YET TO FIX THE STALLING ISSUE EVEN AFTER RECEIVING DIAGNOSTIC CODES. IT HAS SHUT OFF ON MAIN STREETS, SIDE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2016 AND THE PROBLEM AND I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM EVER SINCE. *TR
MY 180 AMP ALTERNATOR STOPPED WORKING WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET. THE CURRENT P60 RECALL ONLY COVERS THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR, BUT IT SHOULD COVER BOTH PIECES OF EQUIPMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS SITTING, WAITING TO GET A NEW 180 AMP ALTERNATOR INSTALLED. I WAS QUOTED $900 PARTS AND LABOR FOR THE REPAIR.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS COVERED FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. *TT
BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER FAILED RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED BRAKING. THE RECALL FOR THE BOOSTER WAS DONE TWO YEARS AGO.

THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO HAS FAULTY WIRING THAT IS CAUSING MY AIR BAGS TO NOT WORK. I PURCHASED THIS USED VEHICLE AROUND THE TURN OF THE YEAR. IT CAME ON THE FERRY JANUARY 15, 2016. BY MONDAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. C&F RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON JANUARY 20, AND FOUND CODE PO456. WITHIN SEVERAL DAYS, I NOTICED WATER INTRUSION. THE FLOORBOARDS WERE WET AND BECOMING DRENCHED IN THE FRONT ' AND IN THE MIDDLE SEATS. EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP OR TURNED, I COULD HEAR WATER ROLLING THROUGH THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO RC FEBRUARY 15. WHEN THE WATER PROBLEM WAS LOOKED AT, I WAS INFORMED IT IS NOT A NORMAL LEAK, BUT WHAT IS CALLED A "PHANTOM" LEAK. TO FIX THIS, THEY WOULD HAVE TO GUT THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THEY WENT TO RESTART, IT WOULD NOT START WITH THE PUSH BUTTON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIDTOWN AUTO WHERE THEY FOUND THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT 3/4 FULL OF WATER. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PUSH BUTTON PROBLEM AFTER 2 HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC. THEY STATED THE WATER INTRUSION COULD BE A DANGER TO MY LIFE WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER THEY HAD IT FOR 3 WEEKS. ON 3/9/16, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. AS OF TODAY, 3/25/16, THE SENSOR FOR "CHECK GAS CAP" COMES ON. THIS CAR WILL BE RETURNING IN THE MORNING TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ANCHORAGE VIA THE FERRY, BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE ARE MAJOR ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE WATER IN THE CAR IS CLEAN WITH NO DIRT. IN THE MORNING, THERE ARE PUDDLES THAT DISTRIBUTE THEMSELVES FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK OF THE CAR DURING REGULAR DRIVING. THE ENTIRE FLOOR FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK IS SATURATED WITH A LOT OF WATER. RC ENTERPRISE SAID THERE IS NO WINDOW LEAK, NO DOOR LEAK, NO ROOF LEAK. THIS MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE FRAME. THIS CAR COLLECTS WATER WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING IN PARK. DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND IN THE FLOOR AND THEN FILLING WITH WATER, THIS IS NOT A SAFE CAR.

THIS IS AVERY UNSAFE SITUATION IF I WOULD BE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THE ALTERNATOR FAIL IT WOULD DISABLE THE ENGINE MAKING IT HARD TO STEER THE CAR AND APPLY THE BRAKES THE POWER STEERING PUMP IN THIS CAR IS ELECTRIC NO ELECTRIC POWER NO STEERING ASSIST , NO ENGINE RUNNING NO BREAK ASSIST AND THE CHANCE THE BATTERY FAIL BECAUSE OF SHORT OR BURN ALTERNATOR CAN CAUSE THE BATTERY TO OVERHEAT THE BATTERY IS INSIDE THE CAR UNDER PASSENGER SEAT. MY ISSUES BEGAN LAST NOVEMBER WITH THE LIFT GATE. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD, THE LIFT GATE DECIDED TO OPEN. ALARMED, I STOPPED QUICKLY AND CLOSED THE LIFT GATE. THE CAR WOULD SHUT DOWN AFTER USING THE REMOTE START AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND RE-TIGHTENED THE GAS CAP. THE LIGHT DID NOT SHUT OFF, SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT VERY EASY AND MONITOR THE VEHICLE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF. A WEEK LATER AND IT IS BACK ON AGAIN. NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON AS EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE FINE. MY WIFE DROVE MY SON TO BASKETBALL PRACTICE AND SAID SHE WITNESSED THE HEATER TURN ON ALL BY ITSELF (AFTER HAVING BEEN SHUT COMPLETELY OFF). THERE'S THIS WEIRD LOOKING ALUMINUM TUBE ABOUT 7 FEET LONG THAT TWISTS AND TURNS UNDER THE VEHICLE THAT CARRIES THE FREON THAT SUPPLIES THE COLD AIR CONDITIONING IN MY TRUCK. SO EXACTLY WHERE THE TUBE GOES NEXT TO THE MUFFLER IT GOT CORRODED AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. ALMOST $1K IN PARTS AND LABOR AND TRUCK ONLY HAD ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAD ONLY USED THE AIR CONDITIONING SELDOMLY DURING 3 SUMMERS. THE NEW ALUMINUM TUBE THAT WAS BOUGHT HAD A THICKER PART RIGHT BY THE MUFFLER, MEANING ENGINEERS KNEW THE ORIGINAL PART WAS TOO THIN IN MY OPINION.

I HAD THIS RECALL ADDRESSED IN 11/2014...SO WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?! TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MY INCIDENT I HAD TAKEN MY 2012 DURANGO IN FOR DIFFICULTY STARTING, TIRE SENSOR REPLACEMENT, AND TO HAVE SOFTWARE UPDATES COMPLETED. COULD THIS HAVE TRIGGERED THE SHORT? THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.....UPDATED 02/10/16 *BF
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I PLACED THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITH NO DIFFICULTY. DAYS LATER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT START. THE ENGINE TURNED NORMALLY BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE FUEL IS NOT REACHING THE ENGINE. IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE A FLOODED ENGINE. I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE AN KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTERGRATED POWER MODULE) SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE.
