MY 14 DODGE DURANGO BEGAN TO MAKE A CLICKING NOISE WHEN RUNNING. 10/17/17- IT WAS FOUND THAT THE EXHAUST CAM LIFTERS AND ROCKER ARMS ON RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE WERE WORN. IT WAS WARRANTIED AND REPLACED. IT WAS REPLACED AGAIN IN THE SUMMER OF 18. I WAS TOLD THE LEFT SIDE WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED REPLACED AS WELL, BUT THEY COULDN'T UNTIL IT PRESENTED A PROBLEM. IN NOVEMBER OF 18 THE SAME NOISE HAPPENED AGAIN. IT WAS PUT IN THE SHOP DEC. 26TH. IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM(RIGHT) AND THE LEFT. THE DEALER WILL FIX THE RIGHT SIDE(FOR THE THIRD TIME) BECAUSE IT IS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE LEFT. MY CAR JUST WENT OVER 100,000. THE DEALER EXPRESSED THAT HE WAS SURPRISED IT WAS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS SO COMMON. AT THIS POINT, THE WEAR HAPPENS EVERY SIX MONTHS. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AS THE VERY LEAST, OR RECALLED. IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM THREE TIMES IN A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR.
TAKATA RECALL. VEHICLE DO NOT START, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.I TOOK IT TO O'REILLY'S AUTO PARTS AND CONNECTED THE MACHINE AND GIVE ME THE FOLLOWING ERRORS: P2122, U1110, U11BC, U0100, U0101, AND U1120 REFERENCE TO THE COMMUNICATION TO TCM, AND PCM WITH THE VEHICLE. I ALSO TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR A SOFTWARE RECALL WITH THE PCM.
THE 2014 DURANGO BACKUP LAMP ASSEMBLY COLLECTS WATER AND SHORTS OUT THE LIGHTS THAT ARE LOCATED INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY. CURRENTLY MINE IS FLICKERING AND FLASHING AND CAUSING A DISTRACTION TO OTHER DRIVERS. THE MANUFACTURER SAYS IT IS ONLY COVERED UNDER A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THE COST RANGES ANYWHERE FROM $800-$1000 WITHOUT INSTALLATION. THE SEAL AROUND THE LIGHT IS DEFECTIVE AND ALLOWS WATER IN ENTER THE ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO BURN OUT. IN SOME CASES LIKE MINE THE LIGHT WILL FLICKER AND FLASH TO CAUSE DISTRACTIONS TO OTHER DRIVERS. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR IN MOTION. PLEASE HELP US.
WATER HAS ENTERED AND POOLED THE REAR "RACE TRACK" LED LIGHTS RESULTING IN SOME OF THE LIGHTS NOT WORKING. THIS DEFECT RESULTS IN LOSE OF VISIBILITY TO FOLLOWING MOTORISTS AND POTENTIAL FOR FIRE. DEALER STATES CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT COVERED, ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS $1,200!!! I READ THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FILED ABOUT THIS.
I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, LEFT THE VEHICLE RUNNING, AND WENT INTO THE HOUSE. I WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE LESS THAN 10 MINUTES WHEN A NEIGHBOR KNOCKED ON THE DOOR STATING A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO HER HOUSE. WE IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF TO PREVENT ANY OTHER DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE. WE CONTACTED THE POLICE DEPT FOR A REPORT. ONCE THE REPORT WAS COMPLETED BY POLICE, A TOW TRUCK WAS CONTACTED TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON TO ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION, THE OFFICERS FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE PARKED STATUS. WE BELIEVE THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO THE NEIGHBORING HOUSE EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS IN PARK. DODGE HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN REQUESTED TO VALIDATE THE MECHANICAL INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE. *DT*JB *DT*JB
THE REAR LIFTGATE "RACE TRACK" LIGHT ASSEMBLY BADLY COLLECTS WATER. I'M NOT TALKING CONDENSATION EITHER. AFTER A DAY OF STEADY RAIN IT ALMOST FILLS BOTH SIDES OF THE LIGHT. AFTER ONE CAR WASH IT HAS ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER IN IT. IT HAPPENS ANY DAY, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN EVER IT'S RAINING. I HAVE TO REMOVE THE TWO BOTTOM MOUNTING SCREWS TO DRAIN THE WATER OUT. MOST OF THE LEDS HAVE GONE OUT AND I SWEAR I HAVE SEEN SMOKE COMING FROM THE LIGHT ONCE OR TWICE. NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT IS OVER $1,000 AND I HAVE THE EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH I HAVE FOUND DOES NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A VERY WIDESPREAD ISSUE ALL OVER THE WEB. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME FOR SOME REASON SOME PEOPLES WARRANTY COVERS IT AND MOST ARE REJECTED. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN SINCE WATER AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS USUALLY DONT GET ALONG. I'M WONDERING HOW MANY VEHICALS MUST CATCH FIRE FIRST BEFORE A COMPLAINT RECALL IS ISSUED? OR DO A FEW PEOPLE HAVE TO BE KILLED FIRST? I PERSONALLY KNOW FOUR PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND ALL WHO FOLLOW BEHIND US. PLEASE READ A BIT ON ANY OF THE DURANGO FORUMS, MOPAR FORUMS, OR EVEN ON YOUR OWN DATABASE OF COMPLAINTS. I KNOW THERE ARE HUNDREDS ON THERE BECAUSE I READ THE FORUMS AND AM PUTTING IN A COMPLAINT. THE TWO PICTURES I'M ATTACHING ARE FROM ONE CAR WASH, JUST TEN MINTUES OF PERIODICALLY HAVING WATER RUN DOWN THE BACK OF THE CAR FILLED THAT MUCH. ITS UNACCEPTABLE AND YOU KNOW IT IS.....SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
WATER IN 'RACETRACK' GATE LIGHT. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME. FIRST WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS REPLACEMENT IS OVER $1,000.00. LOTS OF CONSUMERS ARE SAYING THEY HAVE THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. WE CONSUMERS NEED HELP ON THIS. 2 LIGHTS IN 5 YEARS AND NOW IT'S $1K???? COME GET REAL!!!!
THERE IS WATER GETTING INTO THE PASSENGER RACETRACK TAIL LIGHT AND BACK UP LIGHT ON MY DURANGO. THE LED'S ARE STARTING TO GO OUT.
WATER POOLING INSIDE OF TAILGATE LIGHTS CAUSES LEDS TO BURN OUT. WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE
VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT, INCLUDING GOING UP A HILL WITHOUT DRIVER PRESSING ACCELERATOR. ENGINE REDLINED WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. VEHICLE PUT INTO NEUTRAL, BUT ENGINE REVVING WOULD NOT DECREASE, AND THEN DRIVER PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK WHICH CONTINUED TO REV AT HIGH RPMS, BUT VEHICLE WOULD THEN NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON AFTER 45 TO 60 SECONDS, BUT VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV ENGINE AT HIGH RPMS AND SHOWED THAT VEHICLE WAS IN 8TH GEAR. APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER, VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON. TRIED TO TURN VEHICLE ON AND IT WOULD TURN ITSELF OFF WITHOUT TRYING TO START.
REAR TAILLIGHTS (REFERRED TO AS RACETRACK LIGHTS) HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE FOR LEAKING AND BURNING OUT. THE REPLACEMENT LIGHTING IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, FILLING WITH RAIN WATER, AND BURNING OUT THE LED LIGHTS
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, I NOTICED THE "RACETRACK" STYLE LED TAIL LIGHTS, SPECIFICALLY THE LARGE SECTION ACROSS THE TRUNK, ON MY DODGE DURANGO WERE NO LONGER WORKING. I DID AN ONLINE SEARCH AND MULTIPLE INCIDENTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE POPPED UP. IT APPEARS A FAULTY SEAL AROUND THE TAIL LIGHT ALLOWS FOR WATER TO ENTER THE INSIDE OF THE LIGHT CAUSING IT TO BURN OUT. THE ONLY FIX FOR THIS IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LED UNIT AT A COST OF OVER $1000 WHICH THE VEHICLE OWNER MUST PAY FOR. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LED LIGHT DOES NOT FIX THE LEAKING ISSUE ALLOWING FOR THE LIGHT TO BURN OUT AGAIN.
WATER HAS ENTERED THE RACETRACK LIGHTING COMPONENT AND HAS CAUSED TWO SECTIONS TO BURN OUT. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY COMPROMISE OF THE SYSTEM AS FAR AS A CRACKS, BREAKS, OR DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER LEAKED INTO THE REAR RACETRACK LAMP ASSEMBLY, WHICH CAUSED SEVERAL LED LIGHTS TO MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WATER LEAKING INTO RACETRACK TAILIGHTS ON REAR OF DURANGO. THEY SHORTED OUT NOW NOT WORKING 1K TO REPLACE!!!!
THE TAIL RUNNING LIGHT IS OUT, AFTER LOOKING AT THE AFFECTED AREA, THIS IS DUE TO WATER BEING INSIDE THE LIGHTING AREA. WE HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS IN OTHER DURANGO'S. DODGE WANTS TO CHARGE US TO REPLACE THIS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT AND WE ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR SUCH A REPAIR. WATER INSIDE A RUNNING LIGHT IS CLEARLY NOT THE CONSUMERS FAULT.
RACE TRACK LIGHTING AND TAILGATE HAS CONDENSATION BUILDING UP AND WATER STANDING IN IT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THIS ONE IS NOT.
I HAVE WATER COLLECTION IN THE BOTTOM OF THE RACETRACK TAIL LIGHTS.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY 2018 AND HAVE SINCE NOTICED WATER IN THE REAR RACETRACK LIGHT THAT DODGE REFUSES TO FIX. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS LIGHT CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO MALFUNCTION AND A REPAIR BILL OF $1200.00.
REAR TAIL GATE TAIL LIGHTS FILL WITH WATER WHEN EXPOSED TO RAIN OR CARWASH. LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONTAINS NO SEAL AND NO WAY TO DRAIN WATER OR VENT VAPOR. COLLECTED WATER COULD CAUSE A SHORT DISABLING RUNNING LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, LICENSE PLATE LIGHT OR FIRE. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT TO DODGE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. ISSUE COULD AFFECT SAFETY AND/OR CITATION FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT.
I AM EXPERIENCING A THUMPING NOISE IN THE REAR END OF MY VEHICLE WHEN MOVING ON ANY SURFACE WITH THE SLIGHTEST IMPERFECTION. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT THEY FOUND THAT THE REAR SHOCKS ARE CAUSING THE ABNORMAL NOISE. IN MY OWN RESEARCH ON THESE (RATHER EXPENSIVE) SHOCKS I HAVE FOUND THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE FAILING IN UNDER 100K MILES WHICH MY VEHICLE IS UNDER AND I HAVE ALSO FOUND IN A COUPLE FORUMS THAT THEY HAVE A KNOWN DEFECT. HOWEVER CHRYSLER CLAIMS THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALL ON THEM. SEVERAL INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS HAVE ALSO MADE THE COMMENT THAT I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS SORT OF ISSUE WITH THESE SHOCKS AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER THEM. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP THAT I SPOKE WITH AT CHRYSLER ADVISED ME TO MAKE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. CHRYSLER CALL REFERENCE NUMBER: 57340981. THESE PARTICULAR SHOCKS HAVE BEEN QUOTED TO ME BY THE FACTORY SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT $477.00 EACH AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE 5 YEAR 100K MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.
HEAT IS BLOWING HOT ON DRIVERS SIDE AND COLD ON PASSENGER SIDE.
AS I WAS DRIVING TO MY SON'S FOOTBALL GAME, MY HEADREST DEPLOYED AND VIOLENTLY HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I HADN'T HIT ANYTHING OR A POTHOLE. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR MOMENTARILY, BUT THANKFULLY WAS NOT AROUND OTHER VEHICLES AND WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. IT SOUNDED LIKE MY AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED, BUT AFTER LOOKING AROUND TO FIND WHAT HAPPENED, I NOTICED MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST WAS OUT AND SO I FELT BEHIND MY HEAD AND SURE ENOUGH IT HAD DEPLOYED AS WELL. I ENDED UP GOING TO THE ER BECAUSE OF A HEAD INJURY AS I WAS DISORIENTED AND DIZZY AND HAD LIGHT SENSITIVITY. I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH WHIPLASH AND HAVE HAD HEADACHES EVERYDAY SINCE THE ACCIDENT. I AM ALSO SEEING A CHIROPRACTOR BECAUSE MY BACK IS ALL MESSED UP AS WELL.*DT*JB
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE (STREET, DRY, DAY, SPEED APPROX. 30-40) ABS FAULT LIGHTS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED WOULD NOT RESTART OR DISENGAGE PARK. AFTER WAITING 5 HOURS VEHICLE STARTED WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON DRIVE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF, ABS LIGHTS THEN ILLUMINATED AND ON PARKING VEHICLE AT DEALER IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE TRANSMISSION. DEALER INCORPORATED RECALLS U65 UPDATE PCM AND U06 AUTOPARK FUNCTIONALITY. ABS MODULE PLACED ON ORDER AND DEALER RETURNED VEHICLE AS FIT FOR USE 10 OCTOBER 2018. AFTER DRIVING APPROX. 10 MILES WITH ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND PARKING FOR 6 HOURS VEHICLE RESTARTED AND BEHAVED NORMALLY FOR .5 MILE DOWN ENTRANCE RAMP TO LIMITED ACCESS HIGHWAY. ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, BRAKE RED LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE SLIPPED FROM GEAR AND WOULD NOT REENGAGE. TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM PARK AND ALL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART ENGINE UNSUCCESSFUL. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER.
THE TAILIGHT IS NOT WATER TIGHT AND WATER LEAKS IN AND POOLS ON THE BOTTOM. THIS WATER SHORTS OUT THE TAILIGHT AND CAUSES IT TO NOT LIGHT UP AT ALL. THIS SHORT CIRCUITING CAN ALSO CAUSE MULTIPLE OTHER ISSUES FOR THINGS UNRELATED TO THE TAILIGHT, CAUSING OTHER SYSTEMS TO SHORT.
WATER HAS ENTERED THE "RACETRACK" LIGHTING ASSEMBLY ON THE REAR LIFTGATE CAUSNG PARTS OF IT TO NOT FUNCTION.
LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, MY TAILLIGHT HAS FILLED WITH WATER AND STOPPED WORKING. I WAS NOTIFIED BY A FELLOW DRIVER. I HAD NO IDEA AND COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS ISSUE ISN'T A RECALL. IT IS A DANGER AND WILL CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH EVENTUALLY.
REAR RACETRACK TAIL LIGHT FILLS WITH WATER. LOOKS LIKE DODGE OVERTIGHTENED THE BOLTS CAUSING THE PLASTIC TO CRACK WHICH LEADS TO THE MAIN TAIL LIGHT TO FILL WITH WATER AND SHORT OUT. THIS CAUSES THE TAIL LIGHTS TO NOT FUNCTION MAKING IT A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. OF COURSE HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND DODGE WON'T DO A THING ABOUT IT, IT ACCORDING TO THEM IS A ME PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS RACETRACK DESIGN TAIL LIGHT SYSTEM IS A TERRIBLE DESIGN AND A DANGEROUS ONE.
WATER IS IN THE LIFT GATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS CAUSED THE LED LIGHT TO QUIT WORKING ON THE LOWER LEFT. WITH THE LIGHTS NOT WORKING PER PA STATE INSPECTION THIS FAILS THE SAFETY INSPECTION. I TOOK NOTICE OF WATER ON THE INSIDE OF THE LENS AND THEN A FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHTS QUIT WORKING. I STARTED O REMOVE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLE AND WHEN I PULLED OUT THE BOLTS, WATER JUST FLOWED OUT OF THE LIGHT. ONCE LOOKING INTO WHY I FOUND MUCH OF THE SEAMS COMING APART ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER THE FIXTURE. TO BUY A NEW LIGHT FIXTURE IT WILL COST $1150 FROM A DODGE DEALER PLUS 1.5 HOURS LABOR TO INSTALL AT $90 PER HOUR. THIS IS 1/20 OF THE PRICE OF WHAT I JUST PAID TO BUY THIS USED.
THERE IS WATER POOLING IN MY RACE TRACK LIGHTING AND I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND A $1000 TO REPAIR
HEADLIGHTS ARE UNSAFE. DRIVING ON LOW SETTING BEAMS FALL JUST IN FRONT OF BUMPER. ON HIGH BEAMS AIMED AT HIGH TREES.
WATER COLLECTING INSIDE RACETRACK LED TAILLIGHT CAUSING TAILLIGHT TO NOT BE OPERABLE. I DO NOTICE WATER POOLING INSIDE THE LIGHT FIXTURE EVERY TIME IT RAINS. I HAVE TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH AND THE WATER WILL SLOWLY START TO DROP OUT.
THE RACETRACK TAILGATE LIGHT LEAKS AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER GETS INSIDE AFTER ANYTIME ITS LEFT IN THE RAIN, OR AFTER A CAR WASH. THIS WILL BUILD UP AND CAUSE A SHORT. THIS ALSO FREEZES IN THE WINTER AND WILL EVENTUALLY CRACK THE ENTIRE EXPENSIVE TAILGATE LIGHT. THIS RACETRACK LIGHT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS OF MY 2014 DURANGO ARE FILLING WITH WATER BECAUSE OF BAD SEALS AND THE LED STRIP INSIDE IS SHORTING OUT. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE 2 YEARS AGO AND MY DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THEY REPLACED IT THEN BECAUSE I NOTICED THE ISSUE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY OFFERED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON THEIR DIME SHOULD IT WORSEN. (IT DID WITHIN A MONTH) THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED DOES NOT COVER THIS. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN 2 WEEKS AGO. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING HEAVY RAINS THE LAST 2 WEEKS AND I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT BEGAN FILLING WITH WATER AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WASN'T MOVING, IT WAS SIMPLY PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OR IN THE LOT OUTSIDE OF WHERE I WORK. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL WORSEN AND CAUSE EITHER SAFETY INCIDENTS BECAUSE THE LIGHTS CAN'T BE SEEN AT NIGHT, OR WILL CAUSE ME TO BE CITED BY THE POLICE FOR LIGHTS BEING OUT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY DEALERSHIP THAT THE REPAIR WILL BE BETWEEN $1000 AND $1400 DOLLARS BECAUSE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE DONE TOGETHER BECAUSE IT IS MANUFACTURED THAT WAY. I UNFORTUNATELY CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THE LIGHT AT THIS TIME BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. I DID A CURSORY GOOGLE SEARCH TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND FOUND FORUMS, VIDEOS, AND PICTURES OF PEOPLE WITH BOTH DODGE DURANGO'S AND LATE MODEL DODGE CHARGER'S HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF THE REAR OF MY CARR FROM 2 WEEKS AGO AND MY ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP INVOICE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO. I ALSO PROVIDED THE URL TO ONE OF THE VERY FIRST LINKS THAT SHOWED UP IN GOOGLE BY SEARCHING 2014 DURANGO DEAD TAIL LIGHTS AS WELL AS AN ATTACHED PICTURE FROM A GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH USING THE SAME SEARCH. LICENSE LAMP AND A PORTION OF THE RACE TRACK BRAKE ARE OUT DUE TO WATER LEAKAGE. NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO TAILLAMP. LICENSE LAMP SOCKET IS MELTED
2014 DURANGO ACT WATER IN RACETRACK LIGHTING ON HATCH. PARKED IN A PARKING LOT . WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE HATCH THE LIGHT FLICKERED AND WENT OUT. BOTH TAIL LIGHT STILL WORK.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED DESPITE ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE HAVING BEEN CONDUCTED AS RECOMMENDED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS P0520 ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT. SEEMINGLY THIS IS A FAULTY SENSOR/SWITCH WHICH HAS OCCURRED IN 12% OF DURANGO VEHICLES OF THE MANUFACTURER YEAR OF 2014.
THE BACKUP LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS THIS VEHICLE FILLS WITH WATER DURING RAIN OR CAR WASHES, SPEED IS IRELEVANT. THE WATER SHORTS OUT THE LED LIGHTS, CAUSING THEM TO FAIL. THE ASSEMBLY IS SUPPOSED TO BE WATER TIGHT, THEREFOR THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE WATER IT COLLECTS TO DRAIN. THEREFORE, THE METAL COMPONENTS OF THIS ASSEMBLY ARE ALSO BEGINNING TO RUST DUE TO THE PERSISTENT PRESENCE OF WATER. REPLACING THIS FAILED ASSEMBLY COSTS $1,300. THIS COMPONENT SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE WATER TIGHT ON WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLES, SUCH AS MINE. THIS FAILURE FEELS LIKE A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE ORIGINAL PART. DODGE SHOULD REPLACE THESE FAILED ASSEMBLIES AT A MUCH MORE REASONABLE PRICE, OR FREE OF CHARGE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE COMPONENT IS DESIGNED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, AND CERTAINLY ISN'T FOR ME AND MANY OTHERS.
THE CENTER PART OF MY REAR TAIL LIGHT KEEPS LETTING WATER GET INTO IT CAUSING THE LIGHT TO SHORT OUT AND HAS CAUSED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS AN ISSUE CAUSED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN CONDITIONS THAT ALLOW WATER TO ENTER BECAUSE OF A DEFAULT PART I.E. SNOW, CAR WAS, RAIN
I HAVE FALLEN VICTIM TO THE INFAMOUS CONDENSATION/WATER IN MY REAR TAILLIGHTS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW. AND NOW MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS AT JEOPARDY. WHY MUST THE CONSUMER PAY FOR YOUR DESIGN FLAW. I'M A MOPAR FAN. BUT I'M HIGHLY THINKING OTHERWISE.
TRACK LIGHTING ON THE REAR DOOR IS NOT SEALED AND WATER GETS INTO THE LIGHT HOUSING AND THE REAR CAMERA AS WELL AS THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. SOME OF THE LIGHTS IN THE TRACK ARE OUT AND I HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. WATER IS JUST SITTING ON THE LIGHTS SO THEY BURN OUT. I'M AFRAID THIS MIGHT START A ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE REAR DOOR OR MY REAR LIGHTS WILL JUST STOP WORKING.
UPON WASHING MY CAR, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEADREAST ACTIVATED WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT AND THE CAR WASNT IN MOTION. THERE ALSO WASN'T ANY REAR IMPACT. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND IF ITS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
THE TAIL LIGHT ON THE HATCH BACK DOOR FILLS UP WITH WATER AND THE LED BURNED OUT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS OR CAR WASHES.
LED TAILGATE LIGHT HAS LEAK IN GASKET ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER AND SHORTING OUT THE LIGHT.
ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION I PROCEEDED TO BACK INTO MY DESIGNATED PARKING SPOT, MY VEHICLE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I PUT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT MOVE, I PUT IT INTO TO PARK, THEN BACK TO REVERSE AND IT STILL WOULD NOT GO BACK OR FORWARD. I TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE SHIFTING IT BACK INTO GEAR, STILL NONE OF THESE THINGS PREVAILED. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINS OF THE ABOVE ACTIONS, I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE THE CAR INTO POSITION. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO MOVE IT SINCE.
THE ACTIVE RESTRAINT HEADREST ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT DEPLOYED WHILE SITTING OVER NIGHT IN THE DRIVEWAY. VEHICLE HAS 104,000 MILES AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY REAR END IMPACTS. IT APPEARS THAT THE PART THAT HOLDS THE PIN HAS BROKEN ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY AND THE PIN IS STILL IN THE LATCH IT'S SELF. THERE IN NOT ANY CURRENT RECALL ON THIS BUT IF IT HAPPENS WHILE SOMEONE IS SETTING IN THE SEAT IT COULD CAUSE A HEAD OR NECK INJURY OR IF IT IS THE DRIVER CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
THE TAIL LIGHT HAS RETAINED WATER DUE TO PRODUCT DEFECT CAUSING THE TAIL LIGHT TO BURN OUT WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
IN JULY WE APPROACHED OUR PARKED DURANGO. MY WIFE NOTICED THE TAIL LIGHT WAS NOT AS BRIGHT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAD REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, SO WE COULD SEE THE LIGHTS. LOOKING CLOSER, WE SAW THAT IT HELD WATER. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND "GOOGLED" THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD BUY A NEW TAIL LIGHT FOR $1,200. I BELIEVE DODGE INTENDED OWNERS TO NEVER (EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF A COLLISION, OR IN OTHER RARE INSTANCES) NEED TO REPLACE SUCH A PRICEY PART, FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. HENCE THE LED. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER REMEDY. THIS FAILURE, ON AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY ELEMENT ON THE DURANGO, HAS BEEN NOTED BY MANY FOLKS ON THE WEB. I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO, WHICH SHOWED REMOVING A FEW LIFT GATE BOLTS WOULD ALLOW THE WATER TO ESCAPE, HELPING TO LIMIT THE LOSS OF MORE OF THE LEDS INSIDE THE HOUSING. THAT WORKED, BUT IS NOT A SOLUTION TO THE DIMINISHED LIGHTING. WE NOW HAVE A SMALL SHOWER POTENTIAL WHEN STANDING UNDER OUR LIFT GATE. LIFTING THE TAILGATE REMOVES WATER, WHICH CONTINUES TO COLLECT DURING EVERY RAIN, AND EACH TIME WE WASH THE VEHICLE. LEAVING THE BOLTS IN A TRAY, INSIDE THE CABIN, SERVES TO REMIND ME OF THIS DILEMMA, AND MAY ALLOW INSECTS TO INFILTRATE THE AREA. THE WATER DAMAGE WILL ONLY INCREASE F THERE IS NO FUNCTIONING SEAL, SO AT LEAST, THIS PROVIDES AN OUTLET (BUT ONLY WHEN I LIFT THE GATE). FROM MY GOOGLE SEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO BEEN NOTED ON DODGE CHARGERS, AND OTHER PRODUCTS EQUIPPED WITH THIS SAME PART, AND THE FAILURE APPEARS TO STEM FROM SOME MICRO FRACTURES AT THE TOP OF THE FIXTURE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE MANUFACTURE OF THE LIGHT IS FLAWED, POOR MATERIALS WERE USED, OR ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES HAVE AN OVER-TORQUED NUT IN THAT AREA. I SURE WOULD LIKE SOME RELIEF FROM THIS UNSAFE, AND VERY EXPENSIVE, SITUATION.
WHILE STOPPED WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK AFTER JUST COMING OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AT A TRUCK STOP, THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST POPPED. NO DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED TO THE VEHICLE, NO LARGE BUMPS OR CURBS WERE HIT. LUCKILY WE WERE STOPPED AND NO INJURY OCCURRED. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS A HUGE EXPENSE TO FIX AT A DEALERSHIP (OVER $700 JUST FOR THE PART PLUS SHOP HOURS MAKING IT ABOUT A $1000 EXPENSE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY!) THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN - 1. IF WE ARE NOW IN A COLLISION PRIOR TO REPAIR WILL OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOY AS THIS IS PART OF THE WHOLE SYSTEM (AND THE ONE IS ALREADY SPRUNG SO COULD DAMAGE OCCUR BECAUSE OF THAT) 2. IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING AND IT WERE TO DEPLOY AND HIT SOMEONE IT THE BACK OF THE HEAD IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO OCCUPANTS AND TO OCCUPANTS OF OTHER VEHICLES! THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS ASSEMBLY ON THE TAIL GATE FILLS UP WITH WATER CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO BURN OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE LIGHTS FAIL TO OPERATE AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD WITH LIGHTS SUBMERGED IN WATER. THE SEALANT USED AROUND ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED SO BADLY THAT WATER GATHERS IN THE TAILGATE AND POURS OUT AS TAILGATE IS LIFTED WHICH WILL CAUSE PREMATURE RUST AND FAILURE OF TAILGATE
