WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED, SIDE DOOR CEASES TO FUNCTION AND WILL NEITHER UNLOCK OR OPEN. HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH PASSENGERS DOORS AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE CAR THROUGH THE PASSENGER SPACE AT ANY TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN AND THE RPMS INCREASED TO 7,000. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO WILDE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM SOUTH STREET (262-544-5400, LOCATED AT 1710 WI-164, WAUKESHA, WI 53186) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN UPDATED THE COMPUTER AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.
MY 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN BLOWS ONLY HOT AIR ON PASSENGER SIDE. I TRIED TO TURN AC ON AND FOUND DRIVER SIDE IS BLOWING COLD AIR BUT PASSENGER SIDE IS STILL BLOWING HOT AIR. SHOULD THIS BE A RECALL?
BOTH REAR SLIDING DOOR LOCKS HAVE BECOME JAMMED/STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. DOOR ARE STUCK CLOSED WITH NO WAY TO OPEN THEM FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VAN. NEITHER THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON OR MANUAL SLIDING OPTIONS ARE OPERATIONAL. NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. AS I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE VAN WITH MY REMOTE KEY BUTTON, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR LOCK WAS JAMMED AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN. THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR LOCK HAS JAMMED NOW TOO AND CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED OR OPENED. VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING OR RUNNING WHEN PROBLEMS WERE DISCOVERED.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. ONE DAY IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. THIS CAR WAS NOT EVEN 1 YEAR OLD WHEN THIS HAPPENED ONLY 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAVE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG DODGE CARAVAN BUT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. MOST PEOPLE THAT PURCHASE A MINIVAN HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN AND HAVING A DOOR THAT DOESN'T OPEN POSES A SERIOUS RISK IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE READ MANY POST WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL FILE A COMPLAINT AS WELL.
WHEN THE CAR WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING BACK DOOR STOPPED OPENING. IT APPEARED TO BE STUCK BETWEEN LOCK AND UNLOCK. IT IS UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED WITH ANY AMOUNT OF FORCE, WHICH RENDERED IT UNOPENABLE FROM BOTH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH WOULD PREVENT EMERGENCY SERVICES FROM GETTING TO THE PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR ROLLOVER. IT RENDERS A MAIN EXIT USELESS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAULTS TO LOCKED POSITION. CANNOT MANUALLY OVERRIDE LOCK WITH THE ANY ACTION. THE LEAVES PASSENGERS IN THE REAR TRAPPED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THIS IS THE CASE IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION, IN THE CITY, ON A HIGHWAY, TURNING, AND ANY OTHER SITUATION. IT IS ALWAYS LOCKED. THE CAR HAS 50,000 MILES.
THE ACTUATOR IN BOTH SLIDING DOORS HAS BROKEN. OUR MECHANIC SUGGESTED WE REQUEST A RECALL FOR THIS PART AS THE MINIVAN IS STILL FAIRLY NEW AND THE PART IS EXPENSIVE. ONE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL AND THE OTHER WOULD NOT LOCK. OUR MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR THAT WAS STUCK CLOSED TO OPEN AGAIN BUT NOW IT NO LONGER LOCKS EITHER. IN DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE MINIVANS.
MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT CAR GOES INTO 5 RPM WHEN ONLY GOING 30-40 MPH BACK SEATS DON'T UNLOCK TO FOLD AWAY BACK SLIDING DOORS DON'T LOCK EVEN AFTER ALARM IS ACTIVATED AND HAVE HAD A BRAKE IN
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR REMAINS LOCKED SHUT. UNABLE TO OPEN
THE CAR HAS NOISE.
MY REAR SLIDING DOOR'S ACTUATOR HAS GONE OUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS WAS NOTICED WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO LET MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR, SO IT WAS TURNED OFF. THE DOOR IS STUCK IN "LOCK" AND WILL NOT OPEN. IT WILL NOT OPEN MANUALLY, OR WITH ANY OF THE AUTOMATIC BUTTONS. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT TO MY 3 UNDERAGE CHILDREN, AND APPARENTLY HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I AM GOING TO REQUEST IN THIS DESCRIPTION THAT A RECALL FINALLY BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BECAUSE THEY ARE T-BONED ON ONE SIDE AND TRAPPED IN THE CAR.
WHILE STATIONARY, THE LEFT SLIDING FAILED TO OPEN. I TRIED BOTH MANUALLY AND WITH THE KEY FOB. THAT WAS REPAIRED IN JANUARY, 2019. JUNE 14, 2019, THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. AGAIN, THE SLIDING DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED BY ANY MEANS. BOTH ISSUES HAPPENED ON MY DRIVEWAY.
MY 2016 DODGE CARAVAN WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. IN THE MORNING, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULDN'T UNLOCK NEITHER MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB.
YESTERDAY, I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD AT 25MPH ON LEVEL CITY STREET WITH THE VEHICLE IN "DRIVE." SUDDENLY THE ENGINE ROARED AND REVVED UP BUT THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE - IT WAS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION HAD SOMEHOW SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, LET THE ENGINE SETTLE BACK, AND CAUTIOUSLY APPLIED POWER. THE CAR BEHAVED NORMALLY. HOWEVER, AFTER PARKING AND RUNNING SOME ERRANDS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON MY RETURN TRIP HOME. I HAVE NOT USED THE CAR SINCE.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED CAUSING THE DOOR LOCKS TO GET STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. THE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT MOVE TO THE UNLOCK POSITION AND THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THIS HAPPENS ON THE STREET WHILE DRIVING AND PASSENGERS HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM ANOTHER DOOR. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IF I HAD AN ACCIDENT NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO ESCAPE FROM THAT DOOR. LOOKING ONLINE IT APPEARS THIS IS COMMON WITH THIS MODEL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KELLY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE LOCATED AT 78 ZENTS BOULEVARD, BROOKVILLE, PA 15825, (814)- 352-4129, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HYDRAULIC PUMP AND TORQUE CONVERTER CAUSED A LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V462000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.*LN*DT THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. *TR*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP AND TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN). A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED DUE TO A FAULTY ACTUATOR. THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THOSE RIDING IN THE BACK OF THE VAN, IF THE OTHER SLIDER IS DAMAGED, THE PASSENGERS COULD BECOME TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I HAVE ENCOUNTER THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBABLY IN MODEL YEARS 2014-2017. THE POWER LOCKS WORK FINE, THEN SUDDENLY THE ONE SLIDER WILL NOT OPERATE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE ISSUE A RECALL FOR SAFETY ISSUES. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, WITH NO RESPONSE.
BEEN FOR REPAIR TWICE IN 3 MONTHS FIRST TIME SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE WOULD NOT UNLOCK .SECOND TIME SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE WON'T LOCK . I FEEL THESE ARE SAFETY ISSUES
I BOUGHT A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH 77,438 MILES. THE VEHICLE RAN GREAT TILL THE END OF NOVEMBER 2018. AT WHICH TIME WE STARTED HAVING MAJOR ISSUES. 1ST THE VEHICLE WILL SELF ACCELERATE WITH TO EXCESSIVE SPEEDS OVER 80 MPH WITH NO ASSISTANCE. YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE BREAK TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL. 2ND YOU CAN TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, CLOSE THE DOOR AND THE CAR CONTINUE TO RUN. 3RD WHEN STARTING THE VAN THE TRANSMISSION GOES INTO LIMP MODE NOT ALLOWING YOU TO SHIFT THE CAR TO REVERSE OR DRIVE. TO RELEASE THE YOU HAVE TO HIT THE SAFETY OVERRIDE SWITCH PLACE THE VAN IN GEAR AND THEN YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE SPEED OF 30 MPH. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VAN TO THE SHOP THAT DRIVE TIME WARRANTY COMPANY DIRECTED US TO WHICH WAS PEP BOYS. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DO THE WORK THE VEHICLE NEEDED BUT STILL CHARGES US $50. DRIVE TIME SAID WE WOULD BE REIMBURSE FOR BUT NEVER HAPPENED. THEN DRIVE TIME DIRECTED US TO TAKE THE CAR TO MEINEKE THE DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WE PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE $100. DROVE THE VAN HOME 1 WEEK LATER IT WAS BACK AT MEINEKE TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN. MEINEKE ADVISED THAT THE PART THAT WAS UNDER WARRANTY CAUSE SEVER DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE VAN. DRIVE TIME AUTHORIZED THE WORK. WE WENT TO PICK UP THE VAN AS IT WAS COMPLETED MEINEKE ADVISED US IT WOULD BE $2700 FOR THE REPAIRS AS DRIVE TIME WAS NOT PAYING FOR IT. WE CONTACTED DRIVE TIME ON THIS THEY ADVISED US TO PICK THE VAN UP AND NOT TO PAY MEINEKE ANYTHING. SO WE WENT ROUND AND ROUND WITH DRIVE TIME AND MEINEKE FINALLY GETTING OUR VAN BACK. NOW 10 DAYS LATER IT IS DOING THE SAME THING. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND A WIFE THAT IS IN THIS VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE AND IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

TAKATA RECALL - OUR PROBLEM IS THAT THE SLIDING SIDE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. ONE PLAYED OUT ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND THE OTHER PLAYED OUT A WEEK AGO. I'VE TOOK IT TO BE CHECKED OUT AT AUTO ZONE AND NONE OF THE FUZZES WERE BLOWN OUT. BY IT BEING CONSIDERED A NEW VEHICLE THE SIDE DOORS SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS!
I HAD SOMEONE RUN A REDLIGHT & HIT MY RIGHT SIDE QUARTER PANEL BEHIND THE TIRE JUST BEFORE THE DOOR. MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT LENSE WAS CRACKED IN THE PROCESS. THE BODY SHOP TOLD ME IT'S DEFECTIVE PRIOR TO YOUR ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT'S NOT EVEN SEALED. I WAS TOLD TO CHECK IF THERE'S A RECALL. WETHER IT IS OR NOT IT'S STILL THE FAULT OF CHRYSLER'S & I HAVE MOISTURE INSIDE IT NOW. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU WILL FIX FOR ME? CAN'T REMEMBER ACTUALL MILEAGE BUT FIFTY NINE THOUSAND SOMETHING. THE ENGINE WON'T SHUT DOWN AFTER BEING DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED, AND PUT INTO PARK, THEN TURN THE KEY OFF, THE VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING. IT'LL RUN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THEN CUT OFF. I'VE TRIED TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN AND TURN IT ON AND THEN OFF, VAN STILL RUNS. I'VE UNHOOKED THE BATTERY TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESET ITSELF. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS
THE VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD I HAVE OWNED FOR 7 MONTHS. I START THE CAR IT WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR. I SHUT THE CAR OFF THE MOTOR KEEPS RUNNING. THEN IT WILL GO IN GEAR AND MOVE BY ITSELF.
THE RIGHT REAR SLIDING DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE ANYTIME THE UNLOCK BUTTON INSIDE THE VEHICLE OR WHEN THE KEY FOB IS PUSHED TO UNLOCK.
Fold sliding doors have alternated either being locked and unable to be opened or unlocked and will not lock. This does not matter if the car is moving or not. I'm concerned when they both decide not to open and the safety hazard it's will pose if we get in an accident and can't get out of the vehicle. Also we are unable to secure the vehicle when we go anywhere leaving us vulnerable to thieves. Seems to be a very common problem in these vehicles for many many people.
The contact owned a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle crashed into an animal and the airbags failed to deploy. Van rolled after about 100 feet it stopped. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where it was undetermined why the airbags failed to deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The VIN was not provided.
MY DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL OF THESE VANS WHEN I LOOKED UP A CORRECTION TO IT. IT SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WONT OPEN MANUALLY OR WITH THE FOB. MY 11 MONTH OLD WAS IN THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO CLIMB THROUGH THE CAR TO GET TO HIM.

THE CONTACT WOULD TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
THE TRANSMISSION IS ALL MESSED UP. WHEN YOU GET IN AND START UP THE VAN AND PUT IT IN GEAR IT ACTS LIKE YOU ARE FEATHERING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND IT WILL SLOWLY START TO TAKE OFF. WHEN SIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS IT WILL SOMETIMES SLIP, THE RPMS WILL REV UP AND DOWN THEN JUMP INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS IT WILL JERK WHEN WE ARE STOPPING, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS CALL A BUMP STOP BY THE TECHS.ALSO IF WE HAVE 3 OR 4 PEOPLE IN THE VAN AND WE TRY AND BACK UP IT JERKS VIOLENTLY, IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE ON A BUCKING BRONCO. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, AUDOBON CHRYSLER IN HENDERSON KY. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THEIR ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VAN. IT'S FUNNY THAT I CAN GO ON LINE AND FIND ALL KINDS OF RECALLS ABOUT THE POWER TRAIN AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS, BUT THE DEALER CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY RECALLS??? I CAN'T RECALL THE EXACT DATE WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VAN, I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK IT UP,IT WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND WE ARE STILL FIGHTING WITH THE DEALER AS OF 10/24/2019 BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING AND GETTING WORSE??

DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN IN ANY WAY. IT CANNOT BE UNLOCKED WITH KEYFOB, ELECTRICAL UNLOCK BUTTON, OR MANUALLY PUSHING THE LOCK. THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED BY PULLING ON THE HANDLE (INSIDE OR OUTSIDE), PUSHING ON THE DOOR OPEN BUTTON NEXT TO INTERIOR HANDLE, OR PUSHING THE DOOR OPEN BUTTON ON CEILING CONTROL PANEL. DOOR IS ENTIRELY UNUSABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT OR INTERACTION TAKING PLACE. THE DOOR WORKED THE EVENING BEFORE, THEN DID NOT WORK IN THE MORNING.
WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK ON 09.30.18 AND PARKED WE NOTICED OIL LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VAN. WHEN WE TOOK THE VAN TO OUR MECHANIC, BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 36,000 MILES, 36,208 MILES TO BE EXACT, HE DISCOVERED A CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. HE LET US KNOW THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM HE HAD REPAIRED ON SEVERAL OTHER VANS JUST LIKE OURS. WHEN HE CALLED A DEALERSHIP TO GET A REPLACEMENT PART HE WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS BACK-ORDERED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS OUT OF STOCK. THEY HAD ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MULTIPLE OIL FILTER HOUSINGS AND COULDN'T KEEP THE PART IN STOCK. OUR MECHANIC CALLED ALL OVER WASHINGTON STATE AND GOT THE SAME ANSWER FROM EVERY DEALERSHIP. HE FINALLY WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A REPLACEMENT PART. MY VAN WENT INTO THE SHOP ON 10.01.18 AND IS STILL THERE. THE PART WON'T BE DELIVERED UNTIL 10.09.18 SO I WILL HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR OVER A WEEK. PLEASE START A CAMPAIGN/RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. OUR MECHANIC ALSO SAID THAT UNFORTUNATELY THE REPLACEMENT PART IS EXACTLY THE SAME PART AS WHAT IS ALREADY ON THE VEHICLE, A PLASTIC PLASTIC HOUSING, AND THAT WHEN HE REPLACES IT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT IT WILL CRACK AGAIN. WE NEED A REPLACEMENT FOR THIS PART THAT WILL NOT CRACK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS IS A DIFFICULT PART TO REPLACE AS IT REQUIRE REMOVING THE MANIFOLD TO GET TO IT, CONSEQUENTLY IT WILL COST ME OVER $600.00 TO GET IT FIXED!!
WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR LOCKED AND WOULD NOT OPEN. THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY OR MANUALLY. IF THERE HAD BEEN AN ACCIDENT THE PASSENGERS COULD POTENTIALLY BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. THE VAN WAS NOT MOVING WHEN THE DOOR FAILED. IT COST $1250 TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE MECHANISMS.
THE PASSENGER REAR SLIDING DOOR, MAKES A VERY LOUD BUZZING NOISE ANYTIME I LOCK OR UNLOCK IT. IT ALSO DOES NOT ACTUALLY LOCK, YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IT'S LOCKED AND IT WILL SET OFF THE ALARM.
I PUT THE VAN IN PARK. GOT OUT TO WALK AROUND AND GET A CAR SEAT & THE VAN STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE (BACK UP CAMERA WAS NOT ON) SO I KNOW I PUT IT IN PARK. THE VAN HIT ANOTHER CAR BESIDE ME AND IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IT IN TIME IT WOULD'VE HIT MY APARTMENT COMPLEX BECAUSE IT WAS MOVING FAST ENOUGH TO GO OVER THE CURB BY ITSELF! I WATCH MULTIPLE KIDS ON A DAILY BASIS INCLUDING MY OWN AND THIS IS NOT SAFE! THIS SITUATION COULD'VE ENDED WAY WORSE!
AZ - 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN R/T, APPROX 63,500 MI. 2 WEEKS AGO I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T START. I ASSUMED IT WAS THE BATTERY BECAUSE ITS A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. I GAVE IT A JUMP AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. I SET THE TIME AS IT HAD RESET TO 12:00AM BUT RADIO STATIONS WERE STILL PROGRAMMED. I WENT ON A 3HR DRIVE BACK HOME WITH NO ISSUES AND FIGURED THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED BY THE TIME I GOT HOME. BEFORE I WENT INSIDE FOR THE NIGHT, I ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE UP AND IT STARTED WITH NO ISSUES. THE NEXT MORNING I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START ON THE FIRST OR SECOND ATTEMPT. I NOTICED THE DISPLAY ON THE DASH WOULD ALTERNATE FROM "RUN" TO "OFF" EACH TIME I WOULD TRY TO START IT. THE THIRD TRY THE VEHICLE STARTED FOR A GOOD 3-5 SECONDS THEN DIED. THE NEXT ATTEMPT THE VEHICLE STARTED. I HAD THE SAME ISSUES AFTER WORK AND EACH TIME I WOULD THINK IT WAS THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD TRY TO TURN OVER AND DASH WOULD ALTERNATE START TO OFF AND THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO WOULD RESET TO 12:00 AM. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 WEEKS NOW, I REACHED THE POINT OF REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR. I ALSO HAD THE NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY TESTED, BOTH TESTED GOOD. WHAT KEPT LEADING ME TO A BAD ALTERNATOR/BATTERY WAS THE FACT THAT THE CLOCK WOULD RESET AND THE FIRST FEW ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT WORK. MY THINKING STARTED TO CHANGE AS THE DAYS PASSED. I THOUGHT THAT HAD IT BEEN A BATTERY OR CHARGING ISSUE THE BATTERY WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD BY NOW. TODAY I WENT THROUGH THE SAME ROUTINE, TRIED TWICE TO START, THEN IT WOULD START THEN STALL, OF COURSE THE LAST TRY IT WOULD STAY ON. SAME THING IN THE EVENING, AFTER WORK, BUT THIS TIME WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AT 45MPH. NO WARNINGS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, I PULLED OVER, VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP. A SEARCH OF THE SYMPTOMS LEAD ME TO TIPM ISSUES EARLIER MODELS WERE HAVING.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED SHUT. EITHER FAULT ACTUATOR OR LOCKING MECHANISM. WILL NOT OPEN MANUALLY NOR WITH KEY FOB. PRESENTS DANGER ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE WITH KIDS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. MANY CONSUMERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES PER GOOGLE SEARCH OF SAME PROBLEM. APPEARS TO HAPPEN FREQUENTLY WHEN VEHICLES ARE JUST PAST MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT AND COULDN'T OPEN TO GET CHILD OUT. HAD TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE BACK. I WILL BE FORCED TO HAVE DEALERSHIP FIX/REPLACE AS CAR IS TOO NEW FOR SECONDARY MARKET PART REPLACEMENT OR MECHANICS, AT A COST OF OVER $1100.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE CLOSED AND LOCKED POSITION. WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY OR BY POWER UNLOCK SWITCH. NO CAUSE OR SYMPTOMS OBSERVED BEFORE THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO MISTREATMENT OF THE DOOR. WE ALWAYS USE THE AUTOMATIC POWER CLOSURE AND LATCHING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. PASSENGERS CAN BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VAN IN AN ACCIDENT.

THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST POPPED FORWARD AFTER THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE STEEL PIN IN PLACE FAILED. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG. THERE WASN'T ANY ROUGH ROAD, BUMPS ETC. AFTER I STOPPED TO INSPECT IT, I NOTICED THE BROKEN PLASTIC FRAME.
VEHICLE HAS SLIGHTLY OVER 17000 MILES AND FRONT TIRES ARE BALD. WE HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR ALL SCHEDULED SERVICES AND TIRE ROTATIONS. LAST ROTATION OF TIRES 3/18 WITH NO COMMENT OR CAUTION FROM TECHNICIANS. DURING DISCUSSION WITH SERVICE MANAGER SHE HAD ALL SORTS OF EXCUSES FOR WHY THIS COULD OCCUR. I ASKED ABOUT THE TIRE WARRANTY AND SHE HAD NO INFO TO SHARE. ADDITIONALLY, CONVENIENTLY SHE COULD NOT FIND ANY RECORD OF OUR VEHICLE BEING TO THEM FOR SERVICE SINCE PURCHASE. I DO HAVE PROOF.
