Driving down the highway when steering locked up on a curve. Managed to get the car to the side of the road, but would only drive around 25 mph after that. Upon having a shop look at it they stated that the transmission pump went out. They said they can put transmission fluid in and it will drive fine for a bit, but because the pump is not working it will not work long term. An indicator light did come on a couple days prior.
Driver side sliding door locking mechanism will not unlock and hence the door cannot be opened from inside or outside the vehicle. Has not been diagnosed by dealer or any others. All other doors work as expected. This is true safety concern. In the event of an emergency, a person sitting adjacent to this sliding door would not be able to escape. Should absolutely be a recall. A true safety concern. There are may people complaining of the same problem on the internet. Should not wait until someone dies to address this issue.
Passenger side sliding doors want open
With no warning, the driver’s side sliding rear door locked and will not open either manually or remotely. Concern for safety of passengers exiting the van in an emergency
The passenger sliding door actuator is faulty and the door often gets stuck or is unable to lock/unlock.
Actuator failed and car makes a loud buzzing sound when locking or unlocking the door. Back driver-side door won't open.
The drivers side siding door lock has failed making the door unable to be unlocked automatically or manually. This has left the door inoperable. This is a serious safety risk which leaves a person in the back seat unable to exit the vehicle through that door in the event of an emergency. The vehicle has not yet been inspected for this issue. There was no warning indicators of the failed door lock.
On June 3, 2022, the rear sliding door on the passenger side of my van wouldn't open. It can't be opened via the fob, the button above the driver's center console, nor by hand. It will not unlock. From inside the cabin, I can't unlock the door either. At present, this hasn't put anyone's safety at risk, but if I had had passengers in the back, and we'd been in an accident or some other situation that required us to quickly exit the vehicle, exit would have been impeded. I have an appointment with the service section of the local Dodge dealer. I'm finding online that Chrysler has extended the warranty on door lock actuator on the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan to 15 years/150,000 miles. I'm within that window, but whatever the problem, I want it documented. There were no warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms of the problem before it occurred. I had no odd sounds from the door motor/lock mechanism nor any warning messages/lamps. The door just wouldn't open when I went to open it this morning.
I hit a deer; air bag light came on but the air bags did not deploy.
Passenger rear door would not lock and I have been unable to secure my car from theft. I put gorilla tape on the handle to discourage anyone from opening it. Then it started buzzing. My mechanic has "fixed" it twice, and he has it locking for now, but it buzzes EVERY TIME the door locks or unlocks. I am unable to keep spending money on fixing it and now understand that it is a known problem with this vehicle. It needs to be recalled and dealer needs to pay to fix it.
There is a creaking noise in the front end of the Dodge Caravan. Upon inspection at a service station, it was identified as a bushing that was partially missing on the front subframe crossmember attachment to the chassis. When attempting to purchase a replacement bushing from Chrysler it was discovered that the bushing was no longer made for this vehicle. Instead Chrysler now makes an entire new subframe crossmember with fasteners, that will need to be purchased and installed. It seems like this the bushing part was defective and therefore Chrysler made an adjustment which is now going to cost a lot more money to repair. This should be a recall and not an expense to the consumer.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while his fiancé was driving 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was then driven to the independent mechanic but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Passenger side rear siding door will no longer open manually, using the button on fob or using the open door button at the top near the overhead console. This poses a safety issue not allowing passengers to exit the vehicle as the door will not even open manually. Appears to be in lock position and will not move.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the front driver's side headrest deployed inadvertently. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
A few months ago, the passenger seat headrest safety system deployed with no warning while the vehicle was parked/off. No warning systems were triggered on the vehicle. I can see that inside the headrest, the light plastic frame which retains the metal pin has cracked, probably just from the pressure of the springs over time. As a result the metal pin broke free from the plastic frame. The actual release triggers have not released. I haven't had anyone look at it, but many reports online say dealers are charging $600 to fix it. The springs are very powerful—I'm glad no one was in the seat when it happened.
Loud buzzing noise when locking and unlocking door. Have been told its the actuator
Loud whining sound from the front engine area when accelerating. Vehicle started to sputter. I pulled over and when trying to reposition the vehicle, it did not want to move in the drive or reverse gears.
The driver side rear door failed to unlock and open and is available for inspection. This happened about two weeks ago 04/12/2022. When this started, my grandson was unable to get out that door, but fortunately, the other door opened fine. If there was an accident, and the other door got damaged, passengers would be unable to exit without climbing to the front of the van or out the backdoor. I noticed if I manually assisted the unlock process, it would open. Currently it's working but when the door locks either manually or with the automatic locks, it makes a loud buzzing sound. That is very concerning and sounds like it's about to fail. The passenger side door failed last September 2021 to lock and could not be locked manually. We were able to get the repair done under our extended warrantee. The serious problem with the door not locking was you could open the door while the car was moving.
The passenger side sliding door had a loud buzzing sound when unlocked and now will not unlock or open
The left side passenger door stopped working and is stuck in the lock position. It will not unlock even manually. At first I assumed this was just something with my van but after checking online I now see this is a massive problem that has affected many people. This issue is a huge safety problem as someone will not be able to exit the van in an emergency. People have said they have complained to both Dodge and the NHTSB for years and no recall has been issued. How is that possible when the problem is so widespread? Do people have to actually die before a recall is finally ordered? Please do what you can to get this problem solved before something bad happens. I’m already prepared to pay to get this fixed but it seems to me Dodge needs to be forced to do something about it.
The passenger side sliding door fails to lock leaving people and property at risk. It is available for inspection. The dealership service department indicated it is the latch system. It had been buzzing on lock prior to failing altogether, this is similar to other issues listed online so I believe the actuator may be involved as well. This appears to be a common problem related to a design flaw.
The sliding rear passenger doors have faulty lock actuators. Looked on my forums and tons of people are having the same issues. I had one door actuator replaced a couple years ago. Now my other door actuator is acting up. Dodge will charge $600-$1000 to replace.
Passenger side sliding door, erratic actuator which eventually fails and door will not open.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact's husband managed to pull off to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was then referred to NHTSA for additional assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was repaired.
Torque converter just went out causing car to lose propulsion and damaging the transmission.left vehicle inoperable.
Have had issues with the 6th cylinder since we bought it. Same issues as 2015 and down. 6th cylinder piston is crumbled. 800 motors back ordered with one company and dozens back ordered with others.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed it with transmission pump failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
The passenger side door lock actuator has failed to work with any button from either the remote or the car controls. I am still able to lock it manually, but it is a major safety issue and a costly repair. The driver side lock works fine, but passenger was intermittently working, yet has failed recently.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle started jerking and making an abnormal noise while accelerating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and attempted to reverse however, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed fluid and the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
Transmission failure, low pressure/ fluid pump failure. The car will lurch and speed forward when the gear engages increasing accident risk. The problem was discovered on 2016 Dodge caravan models but not specifically to my VIN. It appears the problem extends to more cars produced that year than was originally discovered. The car has only been inspected by a local mechanic, not a dealer. No prior warnings signs were present. I feel that my local Dodge dealer should inspect and repair the defect as per the previously declared Recall for other Dodge Caravans from 2016. My vehicle should not be exempt.
The passenger side sliding door no longer locks manually or by remote. I was broken into because of this at a hotel I was staying.
Both driver and passenger side sliding doors are stuck in a locked close position. This is VERY scary I am a family I have 4 kids that could be trapped if there is ever an accident. I have searched online and have seen so many cases of people dealing g with the same stuck sliding door issue. This is a major security life threatening problem
dodge grand caravan 2016 right push door lock gets stuck . Don't lock. Left push door don't unlock.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and was informed the vehicle was using an excessive amount of engine oil. Additionally, the vehicle was leaking transmission fluid. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000.
Actuator of passenger side sliding back door was built wrong and makes a loud buzzing noise every time doors are unlocked.
When driving, the vehicle will suddenly turn completely off, losing power steering and power brakes. The panel indicator lights then all come on. It has happened twice in the past two months. The car will start normally after shifting to park.
Left side door will not open. Electric door. I have a handicap grandchild and small grandchildren that I will not be able to get to fast enough in case of a fire. And if other door goes out, how will I be able to get them out. ITS A FIRE HAZZARD.
The driver's side sliding door won't open, and the passenger side sliding door sometimes will open a little and then reclose. Dodge extended the warranty in January, but the mileage on our van puts us outside of the warranty. However, when our door stopped opening, our van would have been in the warranty. I consider this a safety issue. We have taken the van to the local dealer, and the issue with the sliding door is what the extended warranty was intended. Since we are outside of the warranty, Dodge/Chrysler will not cover the expense of repairing the door.
My passenger sliding door will not unlock. I have tried to move the lock but it will not move. I have tried using the keys it will not unlock. I know this is a problem for other 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan owners too. I only have 61,000 miles on my van. It is a safety issue that I would expect the manufacturer to resolve. I hope you will require the manufacturer to fix this problem. As others mentioned this is not just happening on one side of the car but eventually happens on both sides.
compression problem in the cylinder on an engine with only 60,000 miles. The vehicle is just out of the 5 year warranty so it is a costly fix for a relatively new engine.
The driver's side sliding door will not open, manually or electronically. This apparently is a VERY common issue for Dodge and is a very big safety concern. We have brought it to make mechanics and all have stated that is is extremely expensive to fix and almost impossible to find the needed parts. I have children in the car, and this is a very big safety concern. We also cannot get rid of the car, sell it or trade it due to this issue. The amount of people with the similar issue on the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is alarming and this should be taken care of asap.
Power locks actuators in sliding doors are failing, produce loud buzzing noise. Failure of locks could present risk of trapped passengers.
My car died while idling at a stop light 3 times in a row. My engine literally shut off in the middle of the street with 5 kids in the car. Upon further investigation I see there is a major transmission issue with this vehicle and I am currently awaiting confirmation of that diagnosis from our mechanic. Unfortunately, even though this is a 2016 it does not fall under the recall. I'm not sure why since I personally know THREE other people who have had the exact same issue at 95k-100k miles with their 2015/2016 vans. I'm very disappointed and intend to take this further with Dodge itself but the recall needs to be extended to ALL 2015 and 2016 Dodge grand caravans. I will not allow my children or anyone else's to be put at risk because of their clear negligence.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while his wife was operating the vehicle, the transmission suddenly failed and the vehicle suddenly stalled and would not accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
A month, or so ago our passenger slide sliding door started making a loud buzzing sound when we unlocked the doors. That is annoying, but to me is not a safety issue, so wasn't too concerned about it. What is going on with our driver side sliding door now I do believe is a safety issue and needs to be part of a recall. The driver side sliding door was refusing to unlock, or open sometimes but now it is all the time. We are unable to manually unlock it to use the door. It is stuck in the lock position and totally unusable now as we are unable to manually unlock it by hand and unable to unlock it using the door locks, or the the remote. The lights flash when i click the button on the remote to open that door, but it doesn't respond and unlock it. What is gonna happen when the other door decides to do the same thing and no one can get out of the van in the case of an emergency. This needs to be a recall and be fixed for all the families that drive and love your vans. We've never had an issue like this with our previous years of Dodge vans. I got the warranty thing in the mail for this to be fixed with 150,000 miles, or less. At the time I got the letter ours was only doing the buzzing sound on the one door, but it already had 160,000 miles on it, so it was past the warranty time to get fixed. The right (passenger side) sliding door is locked closed and will not open from the inside or outside. Rear-seat passengers are being forced to exit through the windows, rear hatch, front doors, or the other sliding door. This is not only an unnecessary inconvenience but also potentially very dangerous if there's an accident when occupants need to exit the vehicle quickly. I will take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptom prior to the failure. The problem first appeared two days ago, the van has less that 100,000 miles.
Sliding passenger door actuator makes a loud buzzing noise when unlocking, and also will fail to unlock. In the event of an emergency, passengers will be unable to unlock the door and exit from the vehicle. No warning lamps have activated, notifying of a problem. There are no recalls on file.
Sliding door buzzes when locking from front driver and passenger side automatic locks. Not sure if it closes as we have child safety locked so not able to open from inside.
The actuator on the sliding door of the minivan is stuck in the unlocked position. This means that the door cannot lock under any circumstances. When driving the door remains unlocked and there is no way to lock it. The other sliding door was previous stuck in the locked position and I had it replaced by a mechanic.
The steering and wheel alignment of the vehicle is habitually misaligned and pulling drastically to the right. The vehicle has been serviced and aligned multiple times, and the auto mechanic shop says that the alignment can no longer be set properly. They charged me extra for some additional part to help correct this and allow the vehicle to be aligned, however that did not help. Although the steering wheel appears in alignment, the front wheels continue to pull sharply to the right, causing a safety issue because the vehicle is constantly trying to move to the right.
