12-26 2014 I OPENED UP A CASE NUMBER [XXX] NO ONE ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME. 03-05-2015 I OPENED UP ANOTHER CASE NUMBER [XXX] 06-20-2014 I RECEIVED A IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE WHICH STATES.... THE PROBLEM IS... UPON STATING YOUR VEHICLE THE FREQUENCY OPERATED BUTTON IGNITION KEY (FOBIK), MAY NOT FULLY SEAT IN THE "ON" POSITION. IF NOT FULLY SEATED, UNDER OPERATING CONDITIONS (FOR EXAMPLE BUMPY ROADS) THE FOBIK COULD INADVERTENTLY MOVE TO THE "ACCESSORY" MODE. THIS COULD CAUSE UNINTENDED ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS TO SHUT OFF. THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS AND INCREASE THE RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY DURING A CRASH. WHAT WE MUST DO TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY... ONCE YOU RECEIVE YOUR FOLLOW UP MAIL IN THE SIMPLY CONTACT CHRYSLER WHICH I DID. UNTIL THIS REPAIR IS COMPLETED THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN. HOWEVER, AS A PRECAUTION ALL DRIVERS ARE ADVISED TO REMOVE ALL ALL OBJECTS FROM THE FOBIK (SUCH AS KEY CHAINS, ADDITIONAL KEYS). AND ENSURE THAT THE FOBIK IS SECURELY AND CORRECTLY ALIGNED IN THE "ON" POSITION AND NOT ALIGNED BETWEEN THE "ON" AND "ACCESSORY" POSITION BEFORE THE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY CAR FIXED. I AM VERY UPSET IT HAS TOOK OVER A YEAR TO RESOLVE. I BOUGHT MY BRAN NEW CAR OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT FOR ME TO KEEP ME AND MY FAMILY SAFE ON THE ROADWAYS. THE CAR STOPPED AS I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO WAIT FOR A TOW. ALSO, TWICE NOW THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STARTED, HAD TO BE TOWED ONCE THE OTHER TIME IT WAS AT HOME. IF I WAIT SEVERAL HOURS THE CAR WILL START AGAIN. WHEN I CALL THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES AND THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE DOING IT WHEN IT IS THERE FOR THEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. HAS AN INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. CAR WILL GO WEEKS, EVEN MONTHS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THEN IT WILL FAIL TO OPERATE THE STARTER MOTOR. IF IT SITS FOR A FEW MINUTES OF HOURS, THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY START. TAKEN TO LOCAL AUTO REPAIR CENTER. TESTED BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WITH NO APPARENT REASON FOR THE PROBLEM. ON SEVERAL OCCASION MY CAR WOULD NOT START - I WOULD SIT SOMETIMES FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE MY CAR WOULD START. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES (NO FINDINGS). JUST ONE DAY, MY CAR WOULD NOT START - CALLED ROADSIDE SERVICE - WOULD NOT START - CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED ($138.00) & HAD TO HAVE A WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE INSTALLED $830.59 - DODGE/CHRYSLER NEED TO STOP PLAYING GAMES - JUST RECEIVED A RECALL FOR "WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE DETENTS" - BUT DODGE CLAIMED THAT THE WORK THAT I JUST HAD DONE IS NOT THE SAME - IT'S STILL WIRELESS, IT'S STILL A KEY ISSUE, IT'S STILL A MODULE, IT'S STILL REGARDING THE IGNITION, MY MECHANIC SAID IT'S THE SAME - WHO DO YOU BELIEVE - NOT DODGE/CHRYSLER - THEY NEED TO MAN UP AND ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY AT ALL COST! *TR

I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE WHERE MY CAR ACTS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO START AND AFTER WAITING A WHILE IT STARTS UP. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED TWICE THINKING ITS THE BATTERY OR THAT I AM BUYING BAD BATTERIES. MY CAR ACTS IF NOTHING IS WRONG I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TURN IT TO ON EVERYTHING BRIGHTLY COMES ON BUT MY CAR WILL NOT START IT DOESN'T CLICK IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING WELL AFTER HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR A WHILE NOW IT WONT START AT ALL EVEN WHEN ADDING A NEW BATTERY... IN APRIL OF 2015, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING SENSORS AND GAUGES SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE WOODS. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO STREET, THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN APPROXIMATELY A MONTH THIS CAR HAS STALLED. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE DATE OF THE FIRST INCIDENT, SO I DID NOT ENTER IT. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED USED ON MARCH 3, 2014. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DO BELIEVE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2010 MODEL REGARDING THIS ISSUE, BUT DO NOT KNOW IF THIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. MY 5 YEAR OLD SON WAS WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED TODAY AND THANK GOODNESS I WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE COLLISION. *TR

MY SON USES THE CAR AT COLLEGE AND HAS HAD THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, NEGATING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I CHECKED THE DODGE WEBSITE AND THEY SAID PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE, BUT I RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION. *TR
CAR WAS PARKED, TURNED OFF, KEYS OUT,NOTHING NEAR THE CAR, AND THANKFULLY NO ONE IN CAR - AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *TR
WHILE SITTING PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE WITH NO OTHER CARS OR PEOPLE AROUND; THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN THE CAR, THE IGNITION WAS OFF, AND THE KEYS WERE IN MY HAND. CAR HAS BEEN AT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SINCE THAT DAY. SAID IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS. MAKING ME WONDER IF THEY HAVE DISCOVERED A LARGER ISSUE (JEEP LIBERTY). *TR

FOR A WHILE NOW, RANDOMLY MY JOURNEY WILL GET STUCK IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AFTER TAKING OFF. I WILL HAVE TO STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO RESET ITSELF. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, BUT I'VE HAVE A COMPLETE NEW SET OF BRAKES PUT ON IT, ROTORS AND NEW CALIPERS IN THE FRONT. THE BRAKES ALSO MAKE A KNOCKING SOUND. I ALSO GOT A COMPLETE SET OF TIRES AND THEY SEEM TO BE WEARING QUICKER THAN NORMAL. I HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS LOOK AT THE BREAKS FOR A DIAGNOSES AND ALL OF THEM SAY THAT THE RIGHT PARTS ON IT AND THEY DON'T SEE AND REASON FOR THE NOISES. *TR

THE IGNITION READS BAD KEY AND WON'T START. THE TIRE STEMS CORRODE AND BREAK OFF. THE CALIPERS ARE DEFECTIVE WHICH CAUSE THE BREAKS, TIRES AND ROTORS TO WEAR. THIS VEHICLE HAS TOO MANY DEFECTS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO.

MY DASH LIGHTS WILL FADE AND THEN COME BACK TO THE BRIGHTNESS I HAVE IT SET AT JUST RANDOMLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, DRIVING OR SITTING STILL. SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 116,000 MILES ON IT. THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN NOT STARTING AND LEAVING US STRANDED FOR MINUTES TO HOURS AT A TIME. I HAVE SIX CHILDREN THAT REGULARLY RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE WITH ME, AND IT HAS LEFT US STRANDED AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK (OFTEN MUCH MORE) SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. IT HAS A BRAND NEW KEY FOB (BOUGHT AND PROGRAMMED BY A DODGE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE). IT HAS HAD TWO STARTERS REPLACED (ONE BEFORE AND ONE JUST AFTER WE BOUGHT IT, ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED A BAD STARTER). I HAVE BEEN IN A DODGE DEALERSHIP GETTING MY OIL CHANGED, WHEN IT WOULDN'T START FOR THEM, AND THEY WOULDN'T PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER TO ISOLATE THE ISSUE, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME. WHEN WE ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR, ALL WE WILL GET IS A CLICK. ALL OF THE LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC WORK JUST FINE, BUT IT WILL NOT START. SOMETIMES IT TAKES TWO OR THREE ATTEMPTS TO START. SOMETIMES IT IS WELL OVER AN HOUR. WE ARE AWARE THAT OUR VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL FOR A WIN DETENT RING, HOWEVER, ALL OF THE DEALERSHIPS WE'VE SPOKEN WITH SAY THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND CAN'T GIVE US AN ESTIMATED TIME ON WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING TO ME, GIVEN THAT THE ISSUE COULD CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN. I HAD THE FRONT 2 REPLACED IN APRIL OF 2012 (39000) AND THE REARS REPLACED IN SEPT. OF 2012(40000) NOW THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAS DONE THE SAME THING AT 55000 MILES. I PURCHASED THIS 2009 JOURNEY IN 11/2013 WITH 51000 MILES. IT RANDOMLY WILL NOT START. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A SIMPLE PROBLEM; NOW I AM FINDING OUT THAT IS A PROBLEM WELL KNOWN TO CHRYSLER AND HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED IN THE 2009 VEHICLES. CALLED DODGE CORPORATE OFFICE AND SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE NAMED [XXX]. SHE HELP US GET THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FIX THE PCM FLASH THROTTLE BODY, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP STATED WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. DODGE HAS A RECALL ON FOR THIS PCM PROBLEM ON THE 2010 AND SOME 2009 JOURNEY MODELS. MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED ACCORDING TO DODGE, BUT NOT VIN NUMBERS ARE STATED ON THE RECALL NOTES. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPEN AROUND A WEEK AN HALF AFTER THE FIRST ONE AND AFTER THE DEALERSHIP SAY IT WAS FIXED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH THE KID ON BOARD AND WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE STALLED (TURNED OFF) AND HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO AVOID HIT OTHER CARS. CALLED [XXX] AT CORPORATE AND TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP NOW IS SAYING THE PROBLEM IS THE WIN MODULE, WHICH AGAIN IS ON THE RECALL FOR THE 2010 JOURNEY, BUT NOT ON THE 2009. ASKED DEALERSHIP MANAGER ([XXX]) IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. HE STATED HE IS NOT SURE, BUT THAT IS THE NEXT DIAGNOSTIC STEP TO TAKE. I ALSO ASKED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX HE STATED $700 AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT, BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
