CAR HAS OVERHEATED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE REPLACED HOSES AND COOLANT RESERVE TANK TWICE TEMP GOT SO HOT THAT IT MELTED HOLES IN IT, BRAKES ON FRONT HASH BEEN REPLACED 6 TIMES SINCE 2014 ALSO REPLACED ROTORS TWICE REPLACE BRAKES ON REAR TWICE. *DT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE EXACT FAILURE BUT REPLACED THE STARTER, BATTERY AND ALL OF THE FUSES. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,005.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2014, 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE WENT TO START MY CAR, IT WOULDN'T START. WHEN I TURNED IT OVER IT SAID "BAD KEY". THIS HAS DONE THIS OFF AND ON FOR THE LAST YEAR. AS OF 3/26/15 MY CAR WAS TOTALLY LOCKED DOWN. I KNEW OF THE RECALL AND HAVE ASKED LITHIA OF EUGENE OREGON 97401 IN REGARDS TO IT, AND THEY HAVE SAID THERE IS NO PARTS IN FOR THE RECALL. I SPOKE WITH PARTS, TODAY AND THEY STATED THEY HAD KEYS IN. SO THEN SENT ME TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATES THIS DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL OR MY WARRANTY. THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE IGNITION, WHICH WILL GIVE ME 2 NEW KEYS FOR THE SUM OF 702.00 OUT OF MY POCKET EXPENSE. IF THEY ARE HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THESE IGNITIONS FOR THIS YEAR, I WOULD ASSUME IT WOULD FALL UNDER THE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH THIS SITUATION "BAD KEY" AND MY VEHICLE NOT STARTING NUMEROUS TIMES, EACH TIME THAT I MADE REFERENCE TO IT WITH LITHIA DODGE OF EUGENE, OREGON. THEY JUST SAID THEY WILL SEND ME INFORMATION WHEN THE PART COMES IN. THE COMPANY NEVER HAD A WRITTEN REPORT OF THE COMPLAINT ON THERE PART FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, EVEN THOUGH I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED IN THE WAY SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS HANDLED THIS SITUATION NON PROFESSIONAL AND MAKING IT NOW MY PROBLEM TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH. I HAVE NO OTHER CAR SO I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED AT THIS POINT, AND RENT A CAR UNTIL THEY CAN ORDER THE NEW IGNITION IN, AND REPAIR IT. WHICH THEY STATED CAN TAKE UP TO A WEEK. MY VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED TO SWITCH TO OFF ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SOMETHING THAT IS BEING WORKED ON. THEN I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST OF VEHICLES. THEN I RECEIVE PAPERWORK STATING IT WAS ON THE RECALL LIST. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THE PART/PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL ARE ON BACK ORDER. THERE ARE OVER 300 ON BACKORDER. THIS IS PRETTY RIDICULOUS. SO EVERYDAY AS I DRIVE I CONSTANTLY HAVE THE FEAR THAT MY CAR WILL SWITCH TO OFF IN ANY GIVEN MOMENT. ....UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF UPDATED 1/4/2016*JS

THE CONTACT ALSO WAS NOT ABLE TO USE THE KEY FOB AND MANUALLY PRESS THE LOCK AND UNLOCK FUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE KEY TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT WAS TO CALL AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. CAR REFUSES TO START, INSERT FOB CAR JUST CLICKS BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER, SOMETIMES DOORS WON'T OPEN. REPLACED BATTERY IN WINTER, 2 STARTERS THIS SUMMER (WITHIN ONE WEEK), NEW BATTERIES IN FOB, GREEN WIRE TO STARTER CLEANED, TOOK OUT FOB AND LOCKED DOORS AND UNLOCKED DOORS (ONE SITE SUGGESTED THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE TO DO WITH ANTI THEFT DEVICE), TRIED TAPPING/WIGGLING THE GEAR SHIFT (AS SUGGESTED ON ANOTHER SITE), HAVE TRIED ALL DEALERSHIP AND INTERNET SUGGESTIONS). I ASK IF IT WAS A DEFECTED FOB AND WAS TOLD "NO". HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN EXTREME HEAT FOR 30 MINUTES AND LONGER, STRANDED IN VERY COLD WEATHER (THANK GOD MY DAUGHTER WAS AT THE SAME STORE I WAS AT, IN HER HONDA). DEALERSHIP STATED IT WOULD COST A LOT TO TRY TO FIND ISSUE, THIS IS NOT A CONSUMER ISSUE BUT CHRYSLER ISSUE. CHRYSLER IS AWARE SO IT SHOULD NOT BE MY DOLLAR THAT FINDS THEIR DEFECT. (ONE SITE SUGGESTED THE POWER INTEGRATED DISTRIBUTION MODULE RL692302-AE - $1K TO CORRECT.). SURPRISED THERE ISN'T ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTED FROM OTHER OWNERS. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR, DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL JUST STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, DON'T KNOW IF I WILL GET STRANDED FOR HOURS. TOOK IN FOR L25 RECALL AND DEALERSHIP STATED THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE. FINE STILL WANTED THE RECALL CORRECTED. SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE ELECTRICAL, MIGHT CAUSE A FIRE. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH 2009 DODGE JOURNEY SXT OVERHEATING. BEEN TO DODGE DEALER 4 TIMES. THE FIRST 2 TIMES, THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. 3RD TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A PINHOLE IN THE WATER PUMP. SO TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. IT HAS NOW OVERHEATED FOR A 4TH TIME AFTER SPENDING $1000 AND BEEN STRANDED TWICE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN IN ANOTHER STATE. *JS
BOTH FRONT WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP FROM LEFT MASTER SWITCH HOWEVER RT WINDOW WILL OPERATE FROM RT SWITCH. DIAG FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE DRIVE DOOR HARNESS AND MODULE MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
POWER STEERING PUMP MAKING WHINING NOISE. SERVICE SHOP REPLACED CRACKED HOSE, ADV MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO EXTREME COLD WEATHER, OCCURRED IN JAN 2014(MN) -25 -30 BELOW TEMPS AT THAT TIME. SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS IN MARCH, DIFFERENT HOSE, AGAIN MAY/MAY NOT HAVE BEEN RESULT OF COLD, ADV WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FLUID ROUTING SYSTEM. 1 LARGE PART WITH HOSE/PIPING. WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY CUT THE SPLIT PART AND RE-ATTACH THE HOSE. CAR HAS RAN FINE, NO ISSUES, UNTIL NOV DEC 2014 COLD WEATHER APPEARS TO AFFECT PUMP/HOSES. *TR
POWER STEERING HOSES RUPTURING FROM COLD WEATHER. SECOND HOSE IN LESS THAN 1 MONTH TO BLOW OUT WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND WARMING UP. MANY PEOPLE ONLINE WITH SAME COMPLAINT, WHEN IT GETS COLD THE JOURNEY STARTS BLOWING THE POWER STEERING HOSES. SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE START, BUT THE PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN FIXED AND NEWER MODELS ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC FEELS THIS IS DUE TO THE MATERIAL BEING USED IS NOT THE APPROPRIATE MATERIAL, IT IS TOO HARD AND BRITTLE. ONCE THE HOSE BLOWS OUT YOU LOSE THE POWER STEERING WHICH IS DANGEROUS AND IT STARTS TO GET SMOKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AS THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS SMOKING IN THE ENGINE. *TR

WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AT THE END OF 2013. WE HAD TWO OCCURRENCES FAIRLY SPACED APART WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ITSELF OFF AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION TO OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY. WE ALSO HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED ABOUT THAT TIME. NOW HERE WE ARE SEPTEMBER OF 2014. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, AND THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME AN EVERY DAY OCCURRENCE. THE CAR WILL NOT START WITHOUT A JUMP, IT WILL NOT HOLD ITS CHARGE EITHER. WE HAVE HAD OUR STARTER AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED, WHICH ARE BOTH FINE. NOW AFTER JUMPING THE CAR, WE START HEADING TO OUR DESTINATION. THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. IT REACHES ABOUT 25MPH AND THEN THE RPMS CONTINUE TO CLIMB INTO THE 4S, 5S, 6S, AND 7S IF I TRY TO GO ANY FASTER, IT JUST WILL NOT SHIFT. NOW AFTER PATIENTLY DRIVING TO OUR DESTINATION AT 25MPH, THE CAR DOES NOT SHUT OFF AFTER TURNING THE KEY OFF. WE MUST OPEN OUR HOOD AND PULL A FUSE TO STOP OUR ENGINE. HE CALLED THE LOCAL DODGE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY TOLD HIM IT IS A KNOWN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH JOURNEYS AND DURANGOS THAT THEY SEE ALL THE TIME. HE HAD TO ORDER A COMPLETE NEW INTEGRATED POWER MODULE OR FUSE AND CIRCUIT BOARD FOR $860 PART ONLY. WHEN HE ORDERED THE PART OUT OF CHICAGO THEY ONLY HAD 1 IN STOCK AS THE GUY STATED THEY CAN'T KEEP THESE IN DUE TO SO MANY ISSUES. CAR IS RUNNING NOW BUT IT IS AT THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE ONLY THEY CAN RESET THE COMPUTER SO EVERYTHING WORKS AS NORMAL. SO, ANOTHER $100+ FOR THAT AS WELL. BEFORE BUYING THIS CAR IN 2013 WE TOOK IT ON A TEST DRIVE. WE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. UPON INSPECTION THE BRAKES HAD LITERALLY CRUMBLED APART AND THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE AT NO COST TO US AND THAT WE SHOULDN'T LET THAT DISCOURAGE US FROM THIS PURCHASE. IN ADDITION, WE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SHIFT ABNORMALLY FAST AND HARD. AGAIN LIKE WITH THE BRAKES WE EXPRESSED OUR CONCERN BEFORE WE PURCHASED. THE SALESPERSON THEN RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT WAS HOW THOSE CARS ARE AND THAT THEY WOULD RESET THE TRANSMISSION FOR US. THEY DID THIS AT THE SAME TIME THEY REPLACED ALL BRAKE PARTS. PROGRESSIVELY OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION WORSENED. IT STALLED IN REVERSE SEVERAL TIMES. IT ALSO SHIFTED FROM 1ST TO 2ND IN LESS THAN 3 SECONDS AND INCREASINGLY HARD AS WELL AND ONCE IT HITS THIRD IT LOSES POWER. I MERGED ONTO THE INTERSTATE THE OTHER DAY AND THE RPMS WERE ABOVE 6 BEFORE IT FINALLY DECIDED TO SHIFT. AT THIS POINT THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT AND WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED. I KNEW IT NEEDED THAT BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT, THEY JUST WAITED UNTIL IT BECAME AN ISSUE. NOW WE WERE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS ACTUALLY MISSING TEETH. I PULLED OVER INTO THE FIRST EMPTY LOT I FOUND AND CHECKED THE TIRES, GOT DOWN AND CHECKED UNDER THE CAR FOR ANYTHING HANGING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DRAGGING ON THE GROUND, FOUND NOTHING THAT LOOKED OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I THOUGHT THEN THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SNOW OR ICE AROUND THE TIRES SINCE IT HAD SNOWED THE NIGHT BEFORE. I PROCEEDED TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY THREE MINUTES AND THE NOISE GOT LOUDER. I DROVE TO MY MECHANIC WHICH WAS ANOTHER 5 MINUTES AWAY. HE WAS AMAZED THAT THE POWER TRAIN SEEMED TO EXPLODE FROM THE INSIDE OUT. IN ALL HIS YEARS OF FIXING CARS, HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. WE'VE READ MANY RECALL NOTICES FOR THE POWER TRAIN YET NO ONE IS WILLING TO HELP WITH THIS RECALL. SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED, THEY SAY THAT THE RECALL IS NOT TRANSFERABLE. THIS IS TOTAL BULL SINCE IT IS APPROX $2400. IF THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE PART, THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON WHY WE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. SOMETHING MUST BE ABLE TO BE DONE. IN SEPTEMBER 2013 WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THERE WAS A PRONOUNCED SHIMMY FROM THE FRONT END AND VERY VISIBLE SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I THEN HAD THE TIRES REBALANCED AND THE FRONT END CHECKED FOR ANY POSSIBLE PROBLEM. AGAIN, AFTER REBALANCING THE WHEELS (ALL 4), THAT DID NOT CURE THE PROBLEM.
