ALL 4 TIRES REPLACED 11/15/2012. ORDERED BRAND NEW KUMHO TIRES, HAD THEM MOUNTED, BALANCED AND SECURED WITH RH WARRANTY. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THEY WERE MORE NOISY THAN THE TIRES THAT WERE ON JOURNEY BEFORE REPLACEMENT 11/15/2012. SLIGHT SHIMMY AND HUMMING NOISE. NOVEMBER 2012 - TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO SERVICE CENTER THAT MOUNTED TIRES. EXPLAINED ISSUE(S), OWNER TOLD SERVICE CENTER POSSIBLE BAD TIRE(S), REQUESTED TIRE INSPECTION. NO RESULTS FOUND. SERVICE CENTER ASKED OWNER TO DRIVE ON TIRES FOR 2/3 DAYS TO SEE IF SHIMMY IS COMING FROM FRONT OR REAR END. OWNER COMPLETED REQUESTED ACTION BY SERVICE CENTER, REPORTED SHIMMY COMING FROM REAR END AND REQUESTED ADDITIONAL INSPECTION OF TIRES. SERVICE CENTER "SAYS" THEY INSPECTED AGAIN AND FOUND NOTHING. DECEMBER -2012 OWNER RETURNED TO SERVICE CENTER FOR THIRD TIME TO REQUEST ROTATE & BALANCED. SERVICE CENTER ONCE AGAIN "SAYS" THEY ROTATED, BALANCED AND CHECKED TIRES AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. SHIMMY AND HUMMING NOISE NOW COMPLETELY LOCATED IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. 04/21/2013 FRONT RIGHT BRAKE CALIPER AND PAD NEEDS REPLACED. CALIPER DRAGGING AND SMOKING. WHEN FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS REMOVED TO REPLACE CALIPER TIRE WAS WOBBLY AND WOULD NOT STAND ON ITS OWN OR ROLL ON FLOOR "NORMALLY". NO OTHER TIRES WERE INSPECTED 4/21/2013. OWNER PLANS TO RETURN TO SERVICE CENTER WHERE TIRES WERE PURCHASED/MOUNTED TO REQUEST ANOTHER INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHICH SOUNDED AS THOUGH THE TIRE RIM SCRAPING ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HE NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE COMPLETELY DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR IN COMBINATION WITH THE VALVE STEM WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH IT. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE, BUT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR INJURIES. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD BROKEN. THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT STATED THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,400.
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2009. ASSUMED THAT THE UNLIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY APPLIED TO THIS VEHICLE. NOTICED A FOUL, PUNGENT ODOR 2-3 DAYS PRIOR TO FOLLOWING INCIDENT. ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, I MADE A SLOW LEFT HAND TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD METALLIC SOUND FROM UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I EXITED THE VEHICLE, LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND FOUND THICK, DARK FLUID POURING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS A SMALL FIRE. FIRE SELF EXTINGUISHED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE SLOWLY HOME (APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE) AND PARK IT. 2 DAYS LATER, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED A FAILED TRANSFER CASE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED FROM MY DRIVEWAY, I FOUND A PIECE OF METAL APPROXIMATELY THE SIZE OF A SILVER DOLLAR WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN. DODGE IS NOW DENYING RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS INSTANCE EVERY THOUGH THERE APPEARS TO BE (AND MY MECHANIC VERIFIED) A PARTS/MANUFACTURING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,200.

THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND GAVE THE CONTACT SEVERAL POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THE WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,116.
HAVE FACTORY ALUMINUM WHEELS. THE MANDATED "SAFETY" TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS FACTORY INSTALLED HAVE A STEEL SHAFT THROUGH THE RIMS. ROAD SALT REACTS WITH THE METAL PROPERTIES CAUSE ROTTING. IN MY CASE IT BROKE OFF WHEN THE MECHANIC TRIED TO TOP OFF AIR. JUST AS EASY WOULD BE A BUMP CAUSING ONE OR MORE TO BREAK ON THE ROAD. I COMPLAINED DIRECTLY TO DODGE, AFTER THINKING IT OVER FOR THREE WEEKS, THEY CALLED AND REPORTED THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF REPAIRING THEIR FAULTY MATERIAL PROBLEM. THIS ATTITUDE TOWARDS A POTENTIALLY ACCIDENT CAUSING PROBLEM IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS ORDERED, BUT NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TRIED TO START CAR JUST CLICKS WON'T TURN OVER. LIGHTS, RADIO EVERYTHING TURNS ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. SOMETIMES IF YOU WAIT IT WILL START, SOMETIMES IF YOU MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER AROUND IT WILL START. SOMETIMES MY BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON THEN TURNS OFF AFTER STARTING AGAIN. SAME FOR MY OTHER INDICATOR LIGHTS. ALSO MY BACK SEAT DOORS WILL LOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE AND YOU CANT GET THEM TO UNLOCK WITH THE BUTTONS OR THE KEY FOB. ONLY BY CLIMBING IN THE BACKSEAT TO UNLOCK THEM. STARTING PROBLEMS SEEM WORSE AFTER CAR SITS FOR LONGER PERIOD OR DURING COLDER WEATHER. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS KHH16 TIRES, TIRE SIZE 225/55/19. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE CONTINUOUSLY. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. THE DEFECTIVE TIRES EXHIBITED SEVERE TREAD SEPARATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,800. I HAVE A 2009 JOURNEY SXT, AND THE TRANSFER CASE BLEW AT 12,000 MILES DUE TO BAD OIL AT FACTORY, I THOUGHT "ODD BUT OKAY". AT THAT TIME I WAS INFORMED I NEEDED BRAKES AND ROTORS. AGAIN I THOUGHT ODD AND QUESTIONED WHY I NEEDED BOTH, IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE ROTORS ARE SO THIN THAT THEY HAVE TO BE REPLACED WHEN REPLACING BRAKES. UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT FOR BRAKES ABOUT 2 MONTHS KATERINA GOT THE RECALL AFTER THEY PUT THE SAME [XXX] BRAKES AND ROTORS ON THERE THAT WAS RECALLED SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I HAD TO GET THEM DONE AGAIN AT 35/40K TO WHICH I HAD MY DAD DO THEM AND PICKED OUT THE BRAKE SHOES MYSELF. SO I DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE ANOTHER 20K AND AGAIN I NEED NEW TIRES AND BRAKES AND AN ALIGNMENT. SO 2000 LATER CUS HAVING "SIZE 225/55/R19" THERE IS ONLY ONE MANUFACTURE AND TIRES ARE 250 EACH. NOW I AM USED TO HAVING NEW TIRES AND YOU ROTATE THEM EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE AND THAT'S IT UNTILYOU GET UP THERE IN MILEAGE AGAIN. NOT SO - 3 WEEKS LATER I WAS BACK IN THERE BECAUSE I KEPT LOOSING TIRE PRESSURE WELL ON TIRE HAD A NAIL IN IT - WHICH THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THEY JUST SAID THE TIRES LOOK GREAT THEY CHECKED THEM FOR LEAKS AND FOUND NONE. ONE WEEK LATER I WAS BACK IN THERE AS TIRES ARE LOOSING AIR ONCE AGAIN. TO WHICH THEY TELL ME THEY WILL REVEAL THEM JUST THIS ONCE FREE OF CHARGE AND I NEED A NEW TIRE AS THE PATCH (THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT) ON SIDEWALL BLEW OUT. OKAY NOW I AM THINKING GOOD SHOULD BE ALL SET BUT THEN THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD A CRACKED VALVE STEM AND FOR THEM TO FIX IT WILL BE ANOTHER 200. NOW WHEN I PAY 250 PER TIRE I EXPECT THAT THE VALVE STEM WOULD BE REPLACED AND A NEW ONE PUT ON. AGAIN NOPE!!!,!,!!! SO VERY OTHER DAY WE HAVE TO PUT AIR IN MY TIRES. EXCEPT ONE DAY THE VALVE STEM COVER CAME RIGHT OFF AND NOW MY CAR SITS. WHEN BUYING VEHICLE I WAS TOLD FULL SIR SPARE NOPE AGAIN JUST A DONUT SO IF ANYONE KNOWS WHY A VALVE STEM WOULD NOT BE REPLACED WHEN TIRES ARE I WOULD SURE APPRECIATE SOME ANSWERS.... THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO THEN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE CLUTCH, SEAL TRANSMISSION SEAL AND THE DIFFERENTIAL WERE FRACTURED. ALL COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,888 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,100.
OWNER OF A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY SXT AWD WITH KUMHO SOLUS KH16 TIRE 225/55R19 SIZE STOCK TIRES. AFTER EXPERIENCING COMPLETE RIGHT FRONT TIRE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A PAVED TWO-LANE HIGHWAY, OWNER INSTALLED THE TEMPORARY SPARE TIRE. THE VEHICLE'S AWD LIGHT IMMEDIATELY ILLUMINATED. OWNER CEASED OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND OBTAINED THE SERVICES OF A TOW COMPANY. APPARENTLY, THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN WITH THE SPARE TIRE SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS THE AWD! LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE SERVICED RIGHT AWAY WHEN THE AWD! LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THERE IS NO CAVEAT STATEMENT REGARDING DRIVING TO A CLOSE LOCATION FOR LIMITED MILEAGE. MOREOVER, THE MANUAL STATES THE PTO UNIT (AKA AWD! UNIT) WILL BE DAMAGED IF THE CAR IS DRIVEN WITH THE AWD! LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DRIVING WITH THE SUPPLIED TEMPORARY SPARE CAUSED THE AWD! LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE CAR IS DRIVEN WITH THE TEMPORARY SPARE INSTALLED AND THE AWD! LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND DAMAGE TO THE PTO OCCURS, IS THIS DAMAGE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? IF THE SPARE IS TOO SMALL, AS IS THE CASE VIA VISUAL INSPECTION, WHY IS THAT SPARE TIRE SUPPLIED WITH THE VEHICLE? SHOULDN'T AN ACCEPTABLE SPARE BE MADE AVAILABLE, OR A CAVEAT STATEMENT REGARDING DRIVING ON THE TEMPORARY SPARE FOR LIMITED MILEAGE BE SUPPLIED, SO THE DRIVER/OWNER IS NOT STRANDED? I WENT TO START MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY AND IT WOULD ONLY CLICK WHEN I TURN THE KEY. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND ALL ACCESSORIES WORK BUT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I'VE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND ASKED THE DEALER HAVE THEY HAD ANY ISSUES LIKE THIS AND HEY SAID NO. I WENT TO START IT TODAY AND IT JUST CLICKS,SO I WAIT A COUPLE HOURS LIKE ALWAYS AND IT STARTS BUT NOT NOW. IT CONTINUES TO CLICK AND WON'T START BUT AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINT DON'T WONT TO TOW IT TO HE DEALER AND PAY 600 FOR A TEMPORARY FIX. *TR
PURCHASED 9-6-12 CAR STARTING CUTTING OFF 9-8-12. I CAN'T STEER AIR CONDITIONER IS OFF, DASHBOARD HAS NO LIGHTS. TAKEN BACK TO CAR LOT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CODES COME UP, YET THIS CONTINUOUS TO HAPPEN, IT HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES ALREADY. I AM FEARING FOR MY AND MY FAMILIES LIFE, I CAN'T CONTINUE GOING THROUGH THIS FOR 5 YEARS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT IN THE REAR TWICE. TOOK BACK TO DEALER THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. CALLED DODGE TO REPORT PROBLEM AND INQUIRE ANY RECALL. I WAS TOLD DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN#. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DIE WITHOUT NOTICE WHILE DRIVING. OCCURRENCE SOMETIMES CAN BE DAYS APART OR MONTHS APART. CONTINUES TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS 6/10/14 AND 7/22/14. ONCE AGAIN CONTACTED DODGE. I WAS TOLD THERE IS POTENTIAL RECALL FOR IGNITION ON DODGE JOURNEY MANUFACTURED AT SAME TIME AS MINE, BUT THEY HAVE NOT EXPANDED RECALL YET. TOOK BACK TO DEALER 7/24/14-7/26/14 UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE(NO TIME). SUGGESTED I BRING BACK. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER 8/11/14-8/14/14. STILL UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS ME IF HAPPENS MORE OFTEN TO BRING BACK. EVERY OCCURRENCE IS POTENTIAL HAZARD. *TR

A WEEK LATER, ALSO IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE LEFT FRONT LOCKED UP AND STARTED TO SMOKE. I WANTED TO BRING THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE PROPER AUTHORITY, WITH THE HOPE THAT THIS COULD BE INVESTIGATED IN DETAIL TO PREVENT A POTENTIAL FATALITY OR A NUMBER OF THEM.TODAY A REGULAR CUSTOMER OF MINE, ARRIVED AT MY FACILITY WITH A FLAT TIRE, AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION; I NOTICED THE VALVE STEM WAS MISSING ( ON THE 2009 JOURNEY AND MANY NEW VEHICLES THIS IS A " TPMS" - TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR) THE CUSTOMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 30 MPH AND NOTICED THE LIGHT COME UP ON THE DASH AND WITHIN SECONDS HER TIRE WAS FLAT, NOTHING WAS HIT, NO JOLT, NO WARNING, JUST POOF, THE TIRE WENT FLAT. LUCKILY SHE WAS DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED ON A RURAL ROADWAY AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND EXIT TO SAFETY WITH HER CHILDREN. ONCE I DISMOUNTED THE TIRE, I FOUND THE TPMS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE LEAVING JUST A HOLE IN THE RIM, HENCE THE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE. THE THREADS ON THE TPMS WERE COVERED WITH OXIDATION AND NO RETAINING NUT WAS FOUND,THE STEM WAS NOT BROKEN, ALTERED OR VANDALIZED, IT JUST CAME UNATTACHED. THE THREADS WERE OXIDIZED SO BADLY THAT ANOTHER RETAINER COULD NOT BE THREADED ON, SO I REPLACED THE TPMS WITH A NEW ONE. AFTER INSTALLING THAT TIRE, I WENT TO TEST THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE OTHER FRONT TIRE, AS I GENTLY PLACED THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE TPMS VALVE STEM TO CHECK THE PRESSURE, POOF THAT TPMS WENT RIGHT THRU THE RIM; THE RETAINING NUT SHATTERED AND BROKE INTO PIECES, QUICKLY CAUSING A MASSIVE AND RAPID LOSS OF PRESSURE.IT IS MY OPINION THAT, HAD THE VEHICLE BEEN TRAVELING FASTER, A VEHICLE OWNER WOULD BE LEFT IN A VERY BAD SITUATION, PERHAPS CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL AND A POTENTIAL FATALITY. VALVE STEM SENSORS ON THE TWO REAR TIRES ARE CORRODED AND CRACKED. DRIVING DOWN ROAD METAL ON VALVE STEM FELL OFF CAUSING RAPID AIR LOSS IN TIRE. OTHER TIRE WITH CORRODED VALVE STEM BROKE AT CAR WASH. I BROUGHT CAR USED FEB 2012 WITH AROUND 78500. SHORTLY AFTER I GOT THE CAR I STARTED NOTICING THE VIBRATION WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES.
