SUDDENLY THE GAUGES ALL WENT TO ZERO, INCLUDING THE GAS. THE HEADLIGHTS CAME ON. THE WIPERS ALL CAME O. THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING. ALL OF THE BLINKERS MAKE NOISE. THIS OCCURS IF THE CAR IS STOPPED OR IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING HEARD FROM THE ENGINE AS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I PURCHASED A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NEW IN 2008. FOR THE MOST PART DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL MAY OF 2012. BEGINNING IN MAY 2012, THE CAR WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT START. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR ALL I HEAR IS A "CLICK." MY HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC AND HAS CHECKED ALL CONNECTIONS, AS WELL AS REPLACED THE RELAYS. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 12 TIMES IN APPROX. 2 MONTHS. IT IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH NO SOLUTION AVAILABLE. *TR

SINCE I BROUGHT MY JOURNEY I HAD TO GET MY BRAKES REPLACED SEVERAL TIME & ROTORS REPLACE, TRANSMISSION SEALANT LEAK AND RECENTLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND WITHIN MINUTES MY TIRE WAS ALMOST FLAT. I WAS ABLE TO JUST MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION AND WENT TO FILL UP MY TIRE AND MY VALVE STEM WENT ALL THE WAY IN AND MY TIRE WENT TOTALLY FLAT AND LOST ALL PRESSURE. MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AND ENDED UP SPENDING $300 TO GET MY FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE VALVE STEMS REPLACED. THE SERVICE GUY AGREED THAT IT WAS UNSAFE AND I COULD OF EASILY SPUN OUT IF I LOST ALL TIRE PRESSURE RIGHT AWAY. I HAVE 2 KIDS AND I FEEL UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ON TOP OF THESE ISSUES MY STEERING WHEEL CONTINUE TO SHAKE BUT I HAD IT IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT A NUMBER OF TIMES AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS OK. ONE OF THE INSTANCES THEY SAID THE SHAKING WAS BECAUSE OF MY ROUTERS AND RESURFACED THEM TWICE. PLEASE HELP ME. ENGINE FAILS TO START. WHEN I TURN ON THE KEY NOTHING HAPPENS. AFTER SEVERAL TURN OF THE KEYS FINALLY THERE IS IGNITION. LAST NIGHT AS MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME THE CAR DIES OUT AND SHE LOST HYDRALICS, SO THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK AND SHE IS LUCKY THAT SHE DID NOT CRASH AND KILL HERSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN FOR CALLIPER AND BRAKE REPLACEMENT FOR BOTH THE FRONT 22,000 MILES AND REAR 28,000. THE IGNITION STARTING PROBLEM 3 TIMES. *JS
MAY 13TH, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, LIGHTS COME ON, RADIO, BUT NOTHING FROM ENGINE. HAD AAA JUMP TRUCK AND INSTALLED NEW BATTERY AT SEARS. MAY 14TH VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN! LIGHTS COME ON, RADIO, BUT ENGINE WILL NOT START. TOOK TO REPAIR PLACE, THEY REPLACE SPARK PLUGS, CLEANED THROTTLE. MAY 22ND BACK TO REPAIR SHOP, VEHICLE WILL NOT START, SAME EXACT ISSUES. REPLACED FUEL PUMP. THEY CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO WARRANTY AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH TRUCK. MAY 29TH VEHICLE HAVING SAME ISSUES, DAILY IT TAKES 15 TO 30 MINUTES FOR IT TO START. TAKE BACK TO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AGAIN. STILL DAILY THE TRUCK STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO. SAME ISSUE WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE KEY, LIGHTS AND RADIO WORK, POWER IS THERE, BUT ENGINE WILL NOT START. NOW DRIVER WINDOW WILL NOT WORK. INFORMED THAT WE NEED BRAKES AND ROTORS FOR FRONT OF TRUCK IN MAY AND NO WARNING LIGHT, JUST SEVERE SHAKING WHEN YOU ARE BRAKING. I DILIGENTLY RESEARCHED BRAKE PROBLEMS ON 2009 JOURNEY AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE. PAID $50.00 DEDUCTIBLE FOR FRONT BRAKES. 5/12/12 BROUGHT VEHICLE IN FOR STANDARD OLF CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION (MILEAGE 27,154) AGAIN, SAN DIEGO RANCH DEALERSHIP ADVISED REAR BRAKES PAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS TURNING THE ROTORS - QUOTE GIVEN OF $305.00. DID MY DILIGENT RESEARCH AND WILL CONTACT CHRYSLER FOR RESOLUTION. CORPORATE IS AWARE OF THE FAULTY DESIGN IN THIS MODEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WOULD SIT AN HOUR AFTER THE RECHARGE AND NOT STARTED, THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE BATTERY WAS ONLY SIX MONTHS OLD. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER WOULD NEED REPLACING, BUT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO WIRING HARNESS MELTING, RADIATOR CRACKED BECAUSE BRACKET FOR AC IS CONNECTED TOO TIGHT WHEN CAR IS MANUFACTURED, BATTERY DIED PREMATURELY BECAUSE OF FAILED WIRES, ROTORS WARPED CAUSING CAR TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING. ALL THESE PROBLEMS AND OTHERS FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES. HAVE SPENT OVER $2000 TO DATE IN REPAIRS THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE. BASED ON ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND TALKING TO MECHANICS WHO HAVE WORKED ON THIS CAR NO ONE CAN BELIEVE THAT THE CORRECT ELECTRICAL RECALL HAS TAKEN PLACE. THERE HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL RECALLS ON VEHICLE, BUT NOT FOR MOST COMMON FAILURE. NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHY BRAKE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHY THE RADIATORS KEEP FAILING WITHOUT A RECALL. WILL IT TAKE A SERIOUS CRASH? SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER IS AT RISK. I WAS DRIVING AND THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO A PARKING LOT AND PROCEEDED TO ADD AIR TO THE TIRE USING AN AIR PUMP. AFTER FILLING THE TIRE WITH AIR AND ATTEMPTING TO DISLODGE THE AIR PUMP HOSE. THE END OF THE TIRE STEM BROKE OFF INSIDE OF THE TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE CAUSING THE TIRE TO DEFLATE COMPLETELY. I NOTICED THAT THE TIRE STEM LOOKED CORRODED, AND I IMMEDIATELY GOOGLED THE PROBLEM WITH THIS TIRE STEM AND LEARNED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WHERE THE TIRE STEMS ON THE VEHICLE CORRODE (WHICH MINE DID EXACTLY) AND THEN BREAK OFF WHILE MOST ARE DRIVING. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM THE VEHICLE ANTIFREEZE RESERVOIR'S CRACK CAUSING THE ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT ON A CONSTANT BASIS. THIS TOO IS A ITEM WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED LONG AGO. VEHICLE WILL NOT START OR CRANK. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WORK WHEN DOOR IS OPEN, CLOSE THE DOOR NOTHING WORKS. BATTERY HAS PLENTY OF JUICE DOESN'T NEED JUMPED. DASH READS "BADKEY" FOR A MILLI SECOND WHEN YOU INSERT KEY FOB. WAIT AN HOUR OR SO AND THE CAR WILL START UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO REPLACE WIN MODULE AS A "STARTING POINT" SINCE THEIR COMPUTERS CAN'T GET CODE FROM THE CAR. *JS

THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,232 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,497.

WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN 2011. WE HAD AN INSPECTION DONE OF THE BRAKES BY THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT FROM AND WERE INFORMED THE BRAKES WERE IN GOOD SHAPE. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND THEY HAVE TOLD US THE BRAKES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE ALSO. THE LAST VISIT THEY TOLD US THE FRONT BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY GONE. THIS AFTER JUST 4000 MILES. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ALSO FAILING. THE VEHICLE AT TIMES JUST WON'T START OR OTHER TIMES WILL SHUT DONE. WE FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND FEEL WE HAVE A LEMON WITH NO COURSE OF ACTION AND STILL 5YEARS OF PAYMENTS.
I LIKE SO MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. AT TIMES THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WANT TO START. I HAVE HAD IT TOWED 2 TIMES TO THE DEALER AND OF COURSE ONCE THEY GET THE VEHICLE THERE IT STARTS. THEY THEN TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM WHICH SEEMS SO FUNNY TO ME CAUSE EVERY WHERE I READ IT IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY NOT STARTING. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST CHRYSLER PRODUCT I WILL EVER OWN. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DO YOU NEED BEFORE THEY ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING? *JS

THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DEALER SAID FRONT BRAKES NEEDED REPLACED DUE TO WEAR ON 3-15-12. I HAD THE WORK DONE. THEREAFTER A LOUD CHATTER NOISE COMES WHEN BRAKES ARE LIGHTLY APPLIED, SUCH AS SLOWING FOR A RED LIGHT, APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY GARAGE, ETC. THE LONGER THE DISTANCE DRIVEN, THE LOUDER THE NOISE GETS. TODAY (4-3-13) I HAVE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE 6TH TIME FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED. I MUST DRIVE FROM FLORIDA TO OHIO ON MAY 4TH, 2013, AND AM QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF BRAKE FAILURE ON SUCH A LONG DISTANCE. I AM A 68 YEAR WIDOW ON A FIXED INCOME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
MY VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STARTS. I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITIONS ALL THE LIGHTS AND RADIO AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS COME ON CAR WILL JUST NOT START. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ALL TEST CAME BACK FINE AND DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERYDAY AND I HAVE TO WAIT HOURS FOR THE CAR TO GET RESTARTED OR WAIT OVER NIGHT FOR THE CAR TO START AGAIN. THIS CAR IS COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE AND I HAVE GOTTEN STRANDED WITH KIDS SEVERAL TIMES FOR HOURS. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO BAD THAT I AM AFRAID OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO DRIVE IT AND I ONLY DARE TO DRIVE IT BACK AND FORTH TO WORK WHICH IS LESS THAN 7 MILES AND SPEED LIMITS DO NOT EXCEED 35 MPH. I HAVE HAD BRAKES REPLACED TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2011 AND NOW IT NEEDS THEM AGAIN. I HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. COST WAS OVER $1300.00. WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS LEMON? ALSO, WHEN IT RAINS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR FILLS WITH WATER.
UPON TAKING AN EXIT RAMP FROM THE FREEWAY I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND PLACED IT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND I IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER, THEN I NOTICED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WAS FLASHING TOO. AFTER SLUGGISHLY LURCHING MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I READ THAT THE MANUAL SAID TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND CYCLE THE IGNITION. UPON DOING THIS THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THEN, IT DID IT AGAIN THE NEXT DAY UNDER VERY SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND APPLIED THE BRAKE AND BOTH LIGHTS CAME ON WITH A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND SOME LUGGING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IF A SEMI HAD BEEN BEHIND US, THERE IS NO WAY HE COULD HAVE STOPPED SOON ENOUGH TO AVOID A COLLISION. I FIND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ETC ON THE INTERNET, BUT NOBODY TAKING ACTION. ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALER BUT UNTIL NOW WE STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, FOR EXAMPLE, GAS METER GOES ON AND OFF, MPH METER AND TACHOMETER GOES DOWN AND UP WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING ON THE ROAD. A COUPLE OF TIMES WE WERE UNABLE TO TURN ON THE CAR AFTER A LOT OF TRIES. CAR DEALER CHANGED BATTERY OF THE CAR BY JUNE/2012. WHEN THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I FEEL SO INSECURE CAUSE I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD CHILD AND I AFRAID SOMETHING BAD HAPPEN TO MY CHILD AND ME. ON THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE RIGHT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY WENT FLAT. VALVE ROTTED, THAT TIRE WAS FIXABLE. WE QUESTIONED THE COLD WEATHER. WE FIGURED IT WAS A FLUKE. ON JULY 15, 2012 REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY WENT FLAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH - WARM WEATHER - BROUGHT IT TO A TIRE COMPANY AND THEY STATED THE VALVE ROTTED ON THIS TIRE AS WELL AND THAT THE TIRE WAS UNREPAIRABLE. BOTH TIMES OUR 3 AND 6 YEAR OLD CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR WITH US- THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I KNOW ANOTHER PERSON THAT RECENTLY OWNED A DODGE JOURNEY AND HAD A BLOW OUT - THEY ENDED UP ACROSS THE ROAD AND DOWN THE BANK. LUCKILY NO INJURIES. I DON'T THINK THIS IS A COINCIDENCE. THIS COULD RESULT IN BODILY INJURY. THE VALVES ON THESE CARS NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. TODAY I AM SPENDING $1325 TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES AND RIMS SO THAT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN DO NOT END UP IN A FATALITY. *TR

TIRE VALVE STEMS - TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON AS WEATHER GOT COLDER, WHEN I TRIED TO REMOVE THE VALVE CAPS THE STEMS BROKE OFF AND THE TIRES DEFLATED. THE STEM WAS CORRODED INTO THE PLASTIC CAP AND WHEN TWISTED, STEM BROKE OFF. THANK GOD THAT THEY DIDN'T BREAK OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AS WOULD OF CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER ON THIS VEHICLE AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *KB

MY DRIVE TRAIN STARTED LEAKING AND WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT IT NO LONGER WAS COVERED BECAUSE 5 YEARS START WHEN YOU TAKE POSSESSION OF THE CAR SO WE WHERE A COUPLE MONTHS PAST SO WE HAD TO PAY 450.00 TO HAVE THE SEALS REPLACED. WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE REQUIRED 75,000 MILE CHECK AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WE HAVE 81,000 MILES ALL HWY MILES ON OUR JOURNEY AND IT IS DUE FOR TIRES THIS WILL BE OUR 4TH SET. ALL THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE MIRRORS AND FRONT BUMPER. I HAVE LEATHER SEATS AND THE DRIVER SEAT IS SPLITTING.
