MY WIFE AND I WERE ABOUT AN HOUR FROM HOME WHEN THE BRAKES ON OUR 2009 DODGE JOURNEY STARTED SQUEALING VERY, VERY LOUD. I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, GOT UNDER THE CAR TO CHECK. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING SPECIFIC AND LET THE CAR SIT IDLE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. AS SOON AS I STARTED TO DRIVE AGAIN, AT LESS THAN 5MPH, THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING AGAIN, JUST AS LOUD. I DROVE TO A NEARBY FIRESTONE FACILITY, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AND THE PUT IT ON THE RACK TO CHECK THE BRAKES. THE JOURNEY HAD 29,400 MILES ON IT.......AND THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY, TOTALLY WORN OUT!! THEY BROUGHT THE BRAKES AND ROTOR FOR ME TO SEE AND THE ROTORS WERE BADLY GROOVED. THEY SAID THEY THOUGHT THE BRAKES WERE TOO SMALL FOR THE SIZE, WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND I TEND TO AGREE, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO AN ACT OF SUICIDE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE JOURNEY AND I AGREE. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!! AND FROM WHAT I READ, DODGE IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I AM NOW 08T $300, AND COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A BAD ACCIDENT FROM FAILURE OF THE BRAKES. *TR
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WITH 20 MILES ON IT, WITHIN THE FIRST 25,000 MILES 2 OF THE TIRES BEGAN LOSING AIR AND HAD TO BE REPLACE, KUMHO TIRES STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS. AT 45,000 MILES THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE ACTUALLY POPPED, LUCKILY AT THE TIME WE WERE STOPPED IN A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. AGAIN, KUMHO SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. AT 47000 MILES THE BRAKES FELL COMPLETELY OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ON TO THE ROAD, AGAIN LUCKILY WE WERE DOING APPROX. 3 MILES AN HOUR AND NO ONE WAS HURT, WHEN I CALLED THE DODGE DEALER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM THE SERVICE TECH SAID 'WELL IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED NEW BRAKES TO ME' SO I CALLED DODGE, AGAIN THEY SAID I WAS OUT OF MY 3 YR/36000 MILE WARRANTY AND THEY WERE 'SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO' I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP THAT SAID THE RIGHT FRONT CALIPER LOCKED AND DIDN'T RELEASE CAUSING TOTAL DESTRUCTION OF NOT ONLY MY BRAKES, BUT MY ROTORS. IS 'SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE' WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE SAID HAD MY CHILDREN BEEN KILLED IN THEIR SAD, VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE? *TR
HEARD REAR BRAKES SQUEALING AND TOOK JOURNEY TO MECHANIC. MECHANICS SAID THE BRAKES WERE MORE WORN ON THE INNER PADS THAN THE OUTER PADS. MECHANIC SAID BRAKE PADS ARE SUPPOSE TO WEAR EVENLY AND THIS WAS A BRAKE FAILURE PROBLEM. HE ALSO STATED THE CALIPERS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT WAS ALSO UNHEARD OF WITH A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 40000 MILES ON IT. HE RECOMMENDED TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM FIX SINCE THIS WAS A BRAKE FAILURE PROBLEM AND NOT JUST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WORE DOWN PREMATURELY. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS ON FOUR OCCASIONS IN AN ATTEMPT AT DUPLICATING THE FAILURE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NEW, IN 2009. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 18,329 MILES -- IT'S BASICALLY STILL BRAND NEW -- ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY!!!!. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE JUST HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR (4) BRAKE PADS, AND HAD ALL FOUR(4) ROTORS RESURFACED. THIS COST OVER $500 -- AND THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS! IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS FULLY AWARE OF. STILL, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED, AND NO WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE OWNERS (THAT THERE'S A POTENTIAL OF AN UNDER-DESIGNED BRAKING SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES. APPARENTLY (MY UNDERSTANDING -- YOU PROBABLY KNOW BETTER), DODGE KNOWS THAT THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE TOO SMALL (?). IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD OTHER CARS IN MY LIFE, AND HAVE NEVER HAD BOTH FRONT & REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS COMPLETELY WEAR-OUT IN LESS THAN 20K MILES. EVEN IF THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED PADS THAT WERE TOO SOFT, OR TO THIN, THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING GIVEN TO THE CONSUMER -- IF FOR NO OTHER REASON THAT THE CONSUMER NOT INSTALL THE SAME PADS AS A REPAIR. MOREOVER, AFTER-MARKET DEALERS, LIKE MIDAS, SHOULD BE ALERTED -- BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REPLACEMENT PADS. IT IS RIDICULOUS TO THINK THAT A COMPANY THE SIZE OF DODGE WOULD PUT AT RISK, THE SAFETY OF THE VERY CONSUMERS THAT KEEP THEIR COMPANY SOLVENT -- IF THEY'RE WILLING TO SACRIFICE OUR LIVES (AND THE LIVES OF OUR FAMILIES) SIMPLY TO "SAVE FACE," THEN WHO WILL BE LEFT TO PURCHASE THEIR FUTURE PRODUCTS? FROM REPORTS I'VE READ, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LITERALLY SPENT THOUSANDS ATTEMPTING TO FIX THEIR JOURNEYS. WHILE I HAVEN'T SPENT AS MUCH AS OTHERS, I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO SPEND THIS TYPE OF MONEY ON A VEHICLE THAT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
AROUND 14,000 MILES THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD SINK. DEALER FOUND BAD MASTER CYLINDER. DURING FURTHER INSPECTION OF BRAKE SYSTEM THEY ALSO FOUND FRONT BRAKE PADS WORN. AT 24,000 THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS ARE NO GOOD. YOU CAN FEEL CAR SHIMMY WHEN SLOWING DOWN ON FREEWAY. PRE-MATURE FAILURE ON PADS AND ROTORS. CAR IS MOSTLY FREEWAY MILES WITH NO HARD BRAKING. *TR
MY WIFE TRIED TO TAKE THE CAP OFF ONE OF HER TIRES TO PUT AIR IN HER TIRE. AS SHE WAS TRYING TO TWIST THE CAP OFF, IT BLEW OFF OF THE TIRE AND HIT HER IN THE FACE. I TOOK THE TIRE TO A SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE WHEEL SENSOR THAT THE TIP CORRODED OFF. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR ON THAT TIRE AND THEN WENT TO CHECK THE PRESSURE ON THE OTHER TIRES. WHEN THEY TRIED TO TAKE THE CAP OFF OF ANOTHER TIRE, THE END OF THAT TIRE SENSOR ALSO SNAPPED OFF. MY WIFE'S VEHICLE IS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, THEY SAID THAT THE SENSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY WHEN IT BREAKS OFF AT THE TIP LIKE THAT. *TR
ON MARCH 4,2011 MY WIFE ,KIDS, AND MYSELF WENT OUT TO DINNER AND WHEN WE GOT BACK TO OUR 2009 DODGE JOURNEY IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND INCONVENIENCE A FAMILY MEMBER BECAUSE MY FAMILY NEEDED A RIDE HOME. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO SEVERAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHY THIS VEHICLE STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO. WE TRAVEL A LOT AND HAVE TO RENT A VEHICLE TO DO SO. IT IS NOW 2014 AND CHRYSLER STILL DOESN'T HAVE A SOLUTION FOR MY TROUBLED CAR. WE ARE TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND CAN'T TRUST IT. WITH THIS BEING AN ISSUE YOU WOULD THINK CHRYSLER WOULD RECALL AND DO RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR

SHE SCHEDULED HER APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH OF 2011 AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE PART WAS ON A UNIVERSAL BACK ORDER AND WAS UNSURE WHEN IT WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. UPDATED 06/17/11 *BF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON MAY 17, 2011 AFTER THE CONSUMER CONTACTED CORPORATE. UPDATED 06/30/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE IN REGARDS TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V658000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING). THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WAS ONLY DISTRIBUTING ONE PART EVERY SO OFTEN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,500.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V658000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER IN MARCH 2011 BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WERE NOT READILY AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS HAVE NOT YET BECOME AVAILABLE AFTER A PERIOD OF SEVEN MONTHS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.
WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR TURN A CORNER, MY IGNITION WILL TURN OFF AND THEN I HAVE NO POWER STEERING, NO LIGHTS NO BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY RESOLUTION FROM CHRYSLER. *TR

HAD HARD TIME BRING CAR TO A STOP WENT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT.THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SO BAD THAT I COULD NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL IT WAS FIXED ,IT WAS NOT FIXED UNTIL MONDAY FEB,28,2011 THEY CHARGED ME 50.00 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. THEN ON MARCH 19,2012 HAD TO GO BACK TO SAME DODGE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES & ROTORS THE CAR ONLY HAD 31000 MILE ON IT. THEY CHARGE ME 100.00 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY THE BRAKES AND ROTORS GAVE OUT ,BUT WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME 100.00 FOR THE REPAIRS. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE BRAKES & ROTORS SHOULD WEAR OUT THIS FAST THEY NEED TO RECALL ALL JOURNEY'S WITH THIS SAFETY PROBLEMS AND PUT THE PROPER SIZE BRAKES ON . *JS
A WEEK AGO MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT LIT. FOUND THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE WAS VERY LOW. ADDED AIR AND THE SENSOR LIGHT WENT OFF. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SENSOR LIGHT CAME BACK ON. CHECKED THE OTHER THREE TIRES FIRST AND ALL WERE OK. WENT TO CHECK THE PASSENGER REAR AND THE CAP WAS SEIZED. TRIED GIVING IT A GOOD TWIST AND THE STEM BROKE OFF. DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER THE COSTLY PART UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT THE STEM ITSELF WAS BROKEN OFF. I'VE HEARD OF MANY PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO THIS AND THEY WERE COVERED. I THINK MY DEALERSHIP, DANBURY DODGE OF CONNECTICUT, JUST SUCKS! I'LL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WAS TROUBLE WHEN THE SALES MANAGER SHOOK HANDS ON A DEAL AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO COME BACK AND RAISE THE PRICE DUE TO AN "ADDITION" ERROR. WHILE WASHING THE TIRES AND RIMS ON MY DODGE JOURNEY I HIT A VALVE STEM BREAKING IT OFF. I HAVE WASHED MANY WHEELS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T HIT ME OR MY HAND. I THINK I WILL TAKE IT TO THE CAR WASH THE NEXT TIME. *TR
AFTER 27,000 MILES MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NEEDS A SET OF NEW BRAKES FOR THE FRONT TIRES. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL SUV'S TO FAR SURPASS THIS MILEAGE WITH NO NEW BRAKES NEEDED. AFTER TAKING MY JOURNEY TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, I WAS TOLD THAT 15 MINUTES BEFORE HE HAD AN IDENTICAL 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CAME HOME, I RESEARCHED DODGE JOURNEY BRAKE PROBLEMS ONLINE AND WAS SHOCKED AT WHAT A PROBLEM THIS WAS FOR JOURNEY OWNERS. I THINK A RECALL SHOULD BE DEMANDED. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO BUY AMERICAN..... AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET. *TR
INEFFECTIVE BRAKES ON THE JOURNEY. THEY WEAR VERY QUICKLY, SHAKE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WHEN STOPPING. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 38,000 MILES, NOW HAS 65,000 AND I HAVE PUT BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLE 3 TIMES. *TR
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES 3 TIMES AND AM GOING TO NEED TO REPLACE THEM AGAIN. I ONLY HAVE 26,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I KNOW THE "SWEEP" AREA IS INSUFFICIENT FOR THE WEIGHT OF MY VEHICLE FROM WHAT RESEARCH I HAVE DONE. I AM WORRIED THAT THE BRAKES MIGHT FAIL WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR OR ON THE FREEWAY. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY OWNERS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM AMONG DODGE JOURNEY OWNERS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. IN ADDITION, THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS REIMBURSED FOR FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,500.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2011 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00 CALL WAS PLACED AT 3:58 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS BOUNCING AND VIBRATING EVERYTHING IN THE CAR. I PULLED OVER AND I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOW. IT SMELLED LIKE MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE AUTOMOTIVE DEPARTMENT WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THE SITUATION AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD SEE MY VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. I PULLED THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY SAID THAT MY BACK BRAKES ON ONE SIDE HAD BECOME VERY HOT AND THE OTHER BRAKE WAS WARM. THEY STATED THAT MY CALIPER BROKE AND THEY WERE LOOKING INTO IT, BUT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE HOME BECAUSE THE BRAKES LOCKED DOWN AND THE CAR FAILED. A MAN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE DEPARTMENT STATED, 'YOU ARE VERY LUCKY THAT YOU PULLED OVER AND BROUGHT IT IN. THIS TYPE OF THING IS VERY DANGEROUS.' THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AND THEY ARE UNSURE WHY IT DID AND THEY HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT FAILED. WHEN I WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP, THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE FRONT LEFT CALIPER THAT BROKE AND THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO FAIL AND MY BRAKES LOCKED DOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE AND WHEN IT BECAME AVAILABLE, THEY WOULD PERFORM THE REPAIRS. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED SINCE THE PART WAS STILL UNAVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL AND SURROUNDING DEALERS. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
PASSENGER REAR TIRE KEPT LOSING AIR. THE GOODYEAR SERVICE GARAGE BROKE THE TIRE DOWN AND CLEANED UP SEAL AREA AND I NOTICED IT STILL LEAKED AIR A WEEK LATER. THE SENSOR CAME BACK ON.. I PUT AIR IN TIRE AND IT LASTED ANOTHER WEEK TOOK IT BACK TO SERVICE GARAGE. THEY DISCOVERED THE STEM WITH THE SENSOR HAD A CRACK IN IT. IF IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY IT WOULD COST $40-$60 TO REPLACE. THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY FOR A VALVE STEM. THIS SENSOR IS A WASTE OF MONEY. LOOK AT YOUR TIRES SAVE MONEY. WHILE THE SERVICE CENTER FIXED THAT THEY SAW MY FRONT BRAKE PADS WORN DOWN TO ALMOST NOTHING AND THE ROTORS ALMOST COMPLETELY SHOT. HAVING ONLY 16,500 MILES ON MY JOURNEY I FEEL A SENSOR WOULD HAVE HELPED FOR THIS $360 REPAIR JOB. I GET A NEW BUT BARLEY LEGAL ROTOR YOU SELL FOR NEW. CAN;T EVEN TURN THEM DOWN ANY MORE. HAVING TO REPLACE THEM WITH ONLY 16,500 MILES IT A BUNCH OF --AP!! WHERE'S MY WARRANTY ON THIS. JUST SEND ME MY $360 AND WE'LL CALL IT EVEN. THE SAY DRIVING A SAFE AUTOMOBILE IS TOP PRIORITY. THE MECHANIC'S OPTINION IS THAT THE ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE OR INSUFFICIENT, AND THAT THE UNEVEN WEAR COULD BE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE CALIPERS. *TR

WE PURCHASED A USED 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WITH 41,000 MILES ON IT. THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON, WHICH THE DEALER ASSURED US WAS DUE TO COLD WINTER AIR. 10 DAYS LATER A TIRE WENT FLAT SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. I CHANGED THE TIRE TO THE DONUT SPARE, TOOK IT TO A TIRE STORE, AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE TPMS DEVICE HAD BROKEN, WHICH HAD ALLOWED THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. THEY CHECKED THE OTHER TIRES AND 3 OF THE 4 TIRES HAD BROKEN TPMS DEVICES. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THEY SAW SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH LOTS OF DODGE VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY IN WINTER. THE TIRE STORE DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS THEY NEEDED TO FIX IT RIGHT THEN, SO A REGULAR VALVE STEM WAS PLACED IN THOSE THREE TIRES AS A TEMPORARY FIX. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE TPMS DEVICES IN THE OTHER TWO TIRES WERE SO BROKEN THAT ANY SUDDEN DISTURBANCE, SUCH AS A POTHOLE, COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM TO LOSE PRESSURE VERY QUICKLY, AND THAT THIS WAS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

CALLED CHRYSLER TONIGHT 12/27/2010 AT 7:05 PM AND THEY NO REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE DODGE JOURNEYS AND BRAKE/ROTOR PROBLEMS. THEY ADVISED US TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM SEND IT IN TO CORPORATE. UPON CHECKING THE INTERNET I FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DODGE JOURNEY OWNERS OF PREMATURE WEAR ON BRAKES. CONTACTED DODGE CORPORATE OFFICE; SPOKE WITH SERVICE REP AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. SHE AGREED FRONT BRAKES SHOULD NOT BE WEARING OUT THIS EARLY; SHE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR (WHICH I HAD ALREADY DONE). SHE CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY HAD WORKED OUT THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR IN AND REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PARTS AND UPGRADE TO HEAVIER DUTY PARTS. KICKER IS THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING; I POINTED OUT THAT THE FACTORY PARTS ORIGINALLY ISSUED ON THE CAR WERE OBVIOUSLY NOT HEAVY DUTY FOR A 3800 POUND CAR AND THAT THE BRAKES WERE A DESIGN DEFECT. SHE STATED THAT IT WAS CONSIDERED TO BE NORMAL WEAR AND THAT DODGE WOULD NOT REPLACE PARTS; DEALERSHIP STATED THE SAME. ASKED IF IT WOULD TAKE SOMEONE DYING IN A CRASH FROM BRAKE FAILURE TO GET DODGE TO RECALL VEHICLES AND NO ANSWER WAS GIVEN. TOOK CAR IN TO LOCAL BRAKE SHOP AND MECHANIC SAID FRONT BRAKES WERE TOTALLY GONE AND WERE CUTTING INTO THE ROTOR. THIS IS A HAZARD ISSUE. GOT LETTER FROM DODGE TO FIX BRAKES AFTER 100 DEDUCTIBLE, THEY REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS, 2 DAYS(TWO DAYS LATER) BRAKES FAILED AND RAN THROUGH HWY INTERCHANGE AND ALMOST GOT SIDE SWIPED BY A BIG RIG. PUCKER FACTOR +20, TAKEN BACK TO DODGE AND SPENT ALL DAY THERE AND THEY STATED THEY TURNED ROTORS AGAIN ON THE BACK ROTORS BUT WHEN I WENT AROUND TO THE SERVICE BAYS, THE FRONT ROTORS AND BACK ROTORS WERE OFF AND THEY WERE REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS AGAIN.
