HEAT BLOWS OUT OF DRIVER SIDE VENTS BUT BLOWS COLD OUT OF PASSENGER SIDE VENTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULTIPLE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND DEALERS. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND FOUND OTHER VEHICLE'S EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GANLEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (310 BROADWAY AVE, BEDFORD, OH 44146, (440) 232-2121) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO CLEARLY DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE CONTACT'S FILE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2015. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WINDOW SWITCH FOR FRONT WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS AND MIRROR CONTROLS DOES NOT WORK, ONLY BACK WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN, GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JOURNEYS
CAR CUTS OFF WHILE IN MOTION. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD. DEALERSHIPS SAY IT WAS "RELEASED TOO EARLY AND IT HAS A LOT OF BUGS IN THE SYSTEM" I HAVE HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED!!! WAS ALMOST IN A WRECK THIS TIME AT MY DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL. ALSO, CAR WILL NOT START SOMETIMES UNLESS I PUT IT IN GEAR AND "TRICK" IT. I HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER NUMEROUS TIMES THINKING THAT WAS IT....HAS CUT OFF WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, RESIDENTIAL STREET, PARKING LOTS, IN MOTION AND STATIONARY...HAPPENS OFTEN.
THE HEATER CORE IN MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. IT HAS BEEN BEEN REPLACED IN 2014, FLUSHED IN 2015, FLUSHED IN 2016 AND NOW NEEDS REPLACE AGAIN. THIS IS 1300.00 TO REPLACE THE CORE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY DODGE AT NO COST TO ME. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PUT OUT THAT KIND OF MONEY EVERY YEAR. THIS NEEDS LOOKED INTO. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD SOME HEAT BUT NOW HAS NONE. I ALWAYS SEEMS TO BREAKDOWN WHEN IT IS COMING INTO THE COLD SEASON. IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR DODGE'S DESIGN FLAW. ALSO, THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE ANOTHER ONGOING ISSUE, THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES AT MY COST. THIS IS ANOTHER ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. ALL OF THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED ON MY CAR ARE ON MY CARFAX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ESC, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIMMY. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, WHICH CLEARED THE WARNING INDICATORS MOMENTARILY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ATLANTIC DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (2330 US-1, ST AUGUSTINE, FL 32086, (904) 797-4383) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE LATERAL ACCELERATION DYNAMIC SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,736.
BATTERY HAS DIED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN MONTHS OF REPLACING.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE HORN BLOWS LIKE YOU ARE HOLDING THE HORRN DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES N TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALSO HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. WE THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS STEALING IT. AT LEAST 4 TIMES IT WENT OFF. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN OCT. 2017 THEY TOOK OUT THE HORN FUSES. BECAUSE IT BLOWED ALL NIGHT AND IT KILLED THE BATTERY. THEY CALLED IT THE GHOST HORN. SO I'M DRIVING AROUND NOW IN THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT A HORN.
2009 DODGE JOURNEY FAILS TO START AT TIMES. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN MORE FREQUENT. I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 YEARS AND HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR 3. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED ALONG WITH MANY OTHER COSTLY REPAIRS. THE FAILURE TO START HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON MANY OCCASIONS AND THE SUGGESTION TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL FIRST WOULD BE HELPFUL IF I COULD DEPRESS THE BRAKE, BUT I CAN'T...IT'S AS THOUGH THEY'RE LOCKED. AS A SINGLE MOM, THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING AS I AM ALWAYS ON THE GO BETWEEN WORK, SCHOOL AND OTHER OBLIGATIONS.
RECIEVED A PETTER IN MAIL ABOUT A RECALL FOR MY CAR. THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT THAT COULD EITHER MAKE THE AIRBAG DEPLOY RANDOMLY WOTHOUT WARNING OR PREVENT IT FROM OPENING AT ALL IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT CALLED DEALERSHIP IN REFERENCE TO RECALL, WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART NESSESARY AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE THE PART AND TO CALL BACK NEXT WEEK CALLED BACK NEXT WEEK AND WAS TOLD TO LEAVE A MESSSAGE THAT WOULD BE RETURNED, IT NEVER WAS. WENT IN PERSON AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ME CALLING AND THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART.

I BROUGHT BACK TO AAMCO ON SEPT 16, THEY CALLED DODGE BECAUSE THIS WOULD BE NUMBER 4 TRANSFER CASE. THEY TOLD THEM I HAD TO BRING TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP, WHICH I DID. AAMCO PUT IN 3 TRANSFER CASES.HARR DODGE IN WORCESTER, MA DIAGNOSED ON SEPT 20, 2017 AND THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT WHAT IT NEEDS. WITH NO PART AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES. AAMCO PUT IN 3 TRANSFER CASES. HARR DODGE IN WORCESTER, MA DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE ON SEPT 20, 2017 AND THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT WHAT IT NEEDS. WITH NO PART AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES. THEY NEED TO RECALL THIS CAR NOW, NOT YEARS FROM NOW . THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IT IS PART OF THE DRIVESHAFT CONNECTION. THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS SINCE 2013 ABOUT THESE TRANSFER CASES LEAKING, CRACKED , SEALS LEAKING DRIVESHAFT PROBLEMS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS TAKING SO LONG FOR SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I WANT CHRSYSLER DODGE TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE AND PURCHASE MY VEHICLE BACK. ALSO BRAKES IN THIS VEHICLE WEAR AT 5, 000 MILES AND EVERY 5,000 MILES WHICH AGAIN IS A PROBLEM. HUNDRED OF COMPLAINTS SINCE 2012 AND THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED EITHER BY THIS SAFETY COMMISSION.
THE CAR POWER WILL FLUCTUATE WITH THE RPM GOING UP AND DOWN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. NEW TRHOTTLE BODY WITH TPS SENSOR, INTAKE AIR SENSOR AND GAS PEDAL SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE ENGINE PROBLEM LIGHT IS ON ALSO THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 83000 MILES. ACTIVE CODES ARE P0642, P2138, P0335 & P0113. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE DUE TO SPEED FLUCTUATION.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A FAILURE OCCURRED BETWEEN THE KEY FOB AND THE IGNITION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,441.
FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS WHEN IT GETS HOT OUTSIDE, USUAL OVER 90 DEGREES MY CAR WILL NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 10 MINUTES OR A FEW HOURS. IT WILL CLICK BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY MAY BE GOING BAD THOUGH IT HELD A CHARGE. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED THAT SAME DAY WHICH WAS 5 DAYS AGO FOR $225.00. TODAY THE CAR DID THE SAME THING, IT WOULD CLICK BUT NOT TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 15 MINUTES WHILE I WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL. A BYSTANDER SAID SHE THINKS IT WAS THE BATTERY BASED ON THE SOUND WHICH I KNOW IT COULD NOT BE AS THE BATTERY WAS JUST REPLACED. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS 94 DEGREES. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IN DIFFERENT FORUMS FROM CONSUMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL. ONE COMMENTER STATED THAT IF YOU PRESS THE BRAKE THEN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL THE CAR SHOULD START AND IT WOULD INDICATE THAT THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH WAS THE ISSUE. I FOLLOWED THE SUGGESTION AND THE CAR STARTED. AS I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH SEVERAL DIFFERENT ONLINE FORUMS I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL HOWEVER I DO NOT SEE A RECALL ISSUED.
IT STALLS WHILE IN GEAR AND MOVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WORSE WHEN TEMPS ARE COLDER OUTSIDE. CURRENTLY 99000 MILES.
THE HATCH DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEY FOB OR FROM THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. IT WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WHEN I TRIED TO UNLOCK. I ALSO TRIED SEVERAL HOURS LATER AFTER IT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS, AND NOTHING WILL UNLOCK THE DOOR.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE AIR BAG, CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL, ESP, AND SECURITY INDICATORS ILLUMINATED OFF AND ON. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MONKEN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM NISSAN (LOCATED AT 1739 W MCCORD ST, CENTRAILIA, IL 62801 (618) 545-5100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KING CITY CHRYSLER CENTER (LOCATED AT BROADWAY ST, MT VERNON, IL 62864 (618) 242-6600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER MECHANIC SUGGESTED TO HAVE THE PCM REBUILT TO SAVE MONEY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SOMETIMES DOORS CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED WITH THE REMOTE NEITHER WITH THE LOCK-UNLOCK BUTTON. THE PROBLEM IS MORE OFTEN WITH THE PASSENGERS AND REAR (5TH) DOOR. THE DRIVER'S DOOR DOES NOT FAIL. PASSENGERS CAN NOT OPEN THE DOORS TO ENTER OR LEAVE THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
I HAD TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WHICH I FILED A COMPLAINT ALREADY AND SINCE THAT THE ESP , ALL WHEEL DRIVE, SKIDDING AND ANOTHER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF AND MY BRAKES ONLY WORK HALF THE TIME AND NOW MY DRIVER WINDOW WONT GO UP OR DOWN OR MIRROR WORK AND TODAY MY CAR WONT START. MY HUSBAND CHECKED FUSES THEY ARE GOOD BUT HAVE NO POWER TO OVER HALF OF THEM. I CALLED TATE DODGE THEY WANT ANOTHER 1102.00 JUST FOR ME TO BUT THE TIPM PART AND DO THE WORK MYSELF. I CANT BREAK A FUSE BOX AND DO NOT FEEL THIS IS FAIR AND UNLESS I REPLACE THEN MY CAR DONT WORK NOW.
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK ONE MORNING. I HAD TO CALL SOMEONE TO JUMP THE VEHICLE OFF. VEHICLE CRANKED AND RAN WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO DAYS. THIRD MORNING, IT HAD TO BE JUMPED AGAIN. HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED. MECHANIC SAID THE BATTERY WAS NOT A HEAVY ENOUGH BATTERY. SO, I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY. APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS LATER, SAME SCENARIO. HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME THE CAR, DODGE, AND EVEN CHECKED ONLINE. DEALER AND DODGE CLAIM THAT NO COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE HAVE BEEN MADE. HOWEVER, MY ONLINE SEARCH TURNED UP SEVERAL OWNERS THAT HAVE/ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SOMEWHERE OR THE BATTERY WOULDN'T BE DRAINING OVERNIGHT, EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS USED LONG ENOUGH FOR THE BATTERY TO STAY CHARGED BY THE VEHICLE'S CHARGING SYSTEM. SOMETIMES THE BATTERY DRAINS AFTER SITTING ONLY A COUPLE OF HOURS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. DURING AN OIL CHANGE AT GLENBROOK HYUNDAI (4801 COLDWATER, RD, FT. WAYNE, IN, 260-484-9531) THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE TWO RECALLS: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V047000 (AIR BAGS) AND 14V37300 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE RECALLS WERE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG ISSUE. THE CONTACT DID NOT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST FEE; THEREFORE, THE TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY (STRAIGHT) MY CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND STARTED SMOKING. WE PULLED OVER RIGHT WAY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND WAITED TWO HOURS FOR THE CAR TO BE PICKED UP. WHEN WE GOT IT TO THE SHOP BY A TOW TRUCK THE SHOP STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE BLEW UP. WE WERE IN OREGON AT THE TIME.
CAR HAS HAD TO HAVE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES FOR EXCESS WEAR AND PROBLEMS WITH CALIPER, ENGINE RUNS ROUGH AND HESITATES TO ACCELERATE AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MILES PER HR, CHECKENGINE COMES ON AND FLASHES AND THE GOES SOLID, CODES SHOW UP AS PO202 WITH DEFINITION OF CYLINDER 2 INJECTOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT UNIT HAD A FAULT LODGED OR WAS DISCONNECTED FOR PREDETERMINED TIME. THIS CAR IS COSTING ME AN ARM AND LEG
I HAVE THE STARTING ISSUE LIKE OTHERS. THE ENGINE DOES NOT START. SOMETIMES IT STARTS BY ITSELF AFTER A WHILE, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PUT THE GEAR IN N/D AND BACK TO P AND TRY. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELVES! I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE IT AND MAKE IT AS A RECALL!

FIRST IT WAS A BACKING PLATE...NO BIG DEAL...THEN IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE...THEN MY SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING AND A FEW LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD. I WAS THANKFUL THAT THEY TRIED FIXING IT OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. THEN THEY SAID WE WILL GIVE YOU 6,000 FOR IT....WHEN I PAID A LITTLE OVER 10,000 FOR IT...NO WAY! THEN SEPTEMBER CAME AROUND FOR INSPECTION AND I TOLD THEM IT SOUNDS LOUD COULD YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE EXHAUST. WELL THEY PASSED THE INSPECTION....I TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER AND SAID IT STILL SOUNDS LOUD...WELL YOU NEED A WHOLE NEW EXHAUST! WHY DID YOU PASS IT KNOWING IT NEEDED THIS? I WAS TOLD WELL AT LEAST YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT. HERE I AM A YEAR LATER FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION AND IT WON'T PASS NOW BECAUSE OF THE EXHAUST...I ASKED ABOUT THE SPEEDOMETER AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS WE WILL LET THAT SLIDE BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE YOU BOUGHT IT. SO IS IT OK FOR THEM TO BE DOING THIS TO ME? I HEAR A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR AFTER IT'S BEEN SHUT OF, SOMETIMES HOURS LATER. NEWEST ISSUE IS THAT INDICATOR LIGHTS ALL COME ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND CAR JERKS VIOLENTLY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. IF YOU CONNECT A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL AND CLEAR THE CODES BEFORE YOU START IT, THE CAR RUNS SMOOTHLY. I AM SHOCKED AND FRUSTRATED TO SEE THAT THERE ARE SO FEW RECALLS WHEN I AM READING THAT THE SAME PROBLEMS ARE CONSISTENTLY OCCURRING.
