'TAKATA RECALL' WHEN DRIVING THIS 2010 DODGE JOURNEY I HONESTLY DO NOT FEEL SAFE NOR I THINK IT'S SAFE FOR MY KIDS . HAVING THE CAR JUST DIE OUT OF NO WHERE, AND THEN SOME MORNINGS IT WON'T START UP FOR NO REASON , IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING. WHEN YOUR A SINGLE MOM AND YOU WORK DAY AND AND NIGHT , TO BUY A NEW CAR , YOU WOULD THINK IT WOULD BENEFIT THE FAMILY. SADLY IT JUST BRINGS MORE PROBLEMS THAT I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX.
1. WHILE PARKED UNLOCKED AT FRIEND'S HOME, CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED DOORS. KEYS WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE. REQUIRED SPARE SET BE BROUGHT TO OPEN THE DOORS. 2. WHILE PARKED AT HOME, HORN STARTED RANDOMLY SOUNDING AT 1:30 AM. BEEPING WAS RANDOM PATTERN OF SHORT AND LONG BEEPS LASTING FROM A FEW SECONDS TO A MINUTE AND INCIDENTS WERE SEPARATED ANYWHERE FROM 5 TO 30 MINUTES. NO LIGHTS FLASHED AS THEY WOULD FOR SECURITY SYSTEM. CHECKED VEHICLE FOR SIGNS IT HAD BEEN DISTURBED, BUT SAW NO INDICATION. AFTER AN HOUR, MADE DECISION TO REMOVE FUSES FOR HORN. WHILE DOING SO, THE HORN SOUNDED. KEYS WERE INSIDE THE HOUSE AT THAT TIME AND NO ONE WAS NEAR THEM, SO NOT RESULT OF ANYONE TOUCHING THEM. THEN, APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER, HORN STARTED SOUNDING AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH FUSES WERE PULLED. TRIED TO REMOTE START CAR TO MAKE IT STOP, BUT WOULDN'T OPERATE. THEN TRIED TO MANUALLY START CAR, BUT WOULD NOT OPERATE. GAVE UP, APOLOGIZED TO THE NEIGHBORS (AFTER 3 AM BY NOW) AND WENT BACK TO BED. CAR DID NOT BEEP ANYMORE THAT NIGHT. THE NEXT MORNING, HAD TO RESET COMPUTER TO GET CAR TO START. 3. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THAT DAY, CAR RANDOMLY STARTED BEEPING. NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE HORN AT THAT TIME. CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS IS DISTRACTING TO ME AND OTHER DRIVERS. ALSO, HAVING IT SOUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IS NOT GOOD FOR ME OR THE NEIGHBORS. SAW THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A SOMEWHAT COMMON PROBLEM THAT DEFIES SIMPLE REPAIRS AND IS RELATED TO TIPM. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CONTACTED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE METAL VALVE STEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,716. UPDATED *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VALVE NUT CAME OFF AND THE VALVE STEM AND SENSOR WERE SUCKED INSIDE THE TIRE, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. UPDATED 09/08/15*JB

THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THEM A THREE YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE LEAKS, BUT TOLD THE CONTACT THEY WOULD DO NO MORE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AFTER THAT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT CAUGHT FIRE, BUT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE MANIFOLD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SUSPENSION FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE LAST JUNE TO GET THE IGNITION RECALL COMPLETED ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERS KEEP SAYING I'M ON THE LIST AND THEY ARE WAITING ON PARTS. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE WITH NO SUCCESS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, IF I HIT A BUMP MY KEY WILL GO INTO THE AUX POSITION AND I LOSE ALL USE OF BLINKERS, WINDOWS ETC....

I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR TWO AND HALF YEARS AND ITS BEEN NONE STOP ISSUES STARTED WITH CAR ONLY WANTING TO START WHEN IT FELT LIKE IT AND IMY TURN SIGNALS AND HEAD LIGHT FLASHING WHEN THEY WANTED THEN MY INTERERIOR LIGHTS ALSO ALL WHEN CAR WAS OFF AND LOCKED THEN THE DOORS AND WINDOWS STARTING ROLLING UP AND DOWN ON THEIR OWN AND THE DOORS UNLOCKING AND LOCKING BACK ON THEIR OWN AND NOW LAST BUT NOT LEAST MY HORN WONT STOP HONKING ITS A PHYSICAL DRAIN IT INTERFERS WITH WORK , SLEEP IT WAKES UP THE NEIGHBOR HOOD ALL HOUR OF THE NITE WILL BE AT WORK AND HAVE TO EXCUSE MYSELF TO GO OUTSIDE AND PRAY I CAN GET IT TO STOP! CAUSING ME BATTERY DAMAGE MORE THEN AT 285 DOLLARS A POP FOR BATTERY AND INSTALLATION NO EXPECTS WHEN THEY PAY OVER THIRTY THOUSAND FOR A CAR IT IS GONNA BE POSSESSED! I FIRST BOUGHT THE DODGE JOURNEY IN MARCH 2015 USED FROM A DEALERSHIP. 2 MONTHS LATER I START SEEING PROBLEMS: -WHEN I LOCK THE VEHICLE, OCCASIONALLY AFTER SITTING FOR A LONG TIME I WILL COME OUT AND THE WINDOWS WILL ALL BE DOWN AND THE VEHICLE UNLOCKED -I HAVE HAD MANY OCCASIONS WHERE I TRY TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT JUST CLICKS. I HAVE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL (SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES FOR SEVERAL MINUTES) TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. I DO NOT WANT TO GET STRANDED WITH THIS VEHICLE!! -PASSENGER WINDOW WILL SOMETIMES NOT ROLL DOWN USING THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BUTTON BUT OPERATES NORMALLY USING DRIVER SIDE CONTROLS THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I FEAR THAT WE WILL END UP IN A CRASH RELATED TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP ON APPROX 5-23-2015 TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THIS WOULD BE 1.5 MONTHS FOR REPAIR. I HAVE NOT BE NOTIFIED AS OF TODAY (ALMOST 2 MONTHS) TO INFORM THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I DRIVE 100 MILES / DAY AND AM AFRAID THIS ISSUE COULD EXPOSE ITSELF AND LEAD TO AN INCIDENT. AS OF 5/22/2015 VEHICLE HAS 37727 MILES. CHRYSLER ISSUED IN 3/2011 AN EXTENDED WARRANTY CITING PREMATURE BRAKE AND ROTOR WEAR. CARS FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED ON 8/7/2013 - 27581 DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN FRONT AXLE DURING BRAKING. ON 10/24/2013 - 28170 REAR ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED DUE TO SEVER VIBRATION IN REAR AXLE. ON 5/22/2015 - 37727 FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND FRONT ROTORS WERE RESURFACED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN FRONT AXLE DURING BRAKING.
