TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V675000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). AFTER THE REPAIR, THERE WAS A LOSS OF VEHICLE STABILITY AND NO TRACTION WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE CONTACT FELT AS IF THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION, WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A WALL AND FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, AND LOWER BACK PAINS. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS SUSPENDED UPSIDE DOWN, RESTRAINED IN THE SEAT BELT, AND HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE VEHICLE BY A RESPONDER. THE REAR PASSENGERS SUSTAINED BRUISING AND WHIPLASH FROM THE IMPACT. ONE OF THE TWO REAR PASSENGERS WAS MEDEVACKED DUE TO THE INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AFTER THE CRASH. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS LATER DEPLOYED WITH A LOW LEVEL OF DEFLATION AND A SMOKE RESIDUE FILLED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY PROVIDED NO INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *CN

OWNED THIS 'VEHICLE' FOR ALMOST A YEAR (13,500 MILES - HAD SOME MILES FROM DEALER). BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO MASTER CYLINDER AND RELATED ISSUES. ADDITIONAL FIVE RECALLS ON TOP OF THAT - ONE RELATED BUT NOT INCLUDED IN THE ACTUAL RECALL BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD AN ACCIDENT... YET....WAS BEING UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE SEAT BELT - ON A NORMAL DAY - EVERY DAY. I AM NOW ON MY 2ND SENIOR SUPERVISOR AT CHEVROLET TELLING THEM TO COME PICK THE THING UP. NATURALLY CHEVY'S STANCE IS TO KEEP REPAIRING THE VEHICLE - NOT CALL IT WHAT IT IS, A BAD PRODUCT AND TAKE IT BACK. SO, MULTIPLE TRIPS TO DIFFERENT CHEVY REPAIR SHOPS, ALL SETUP BY CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE OF COURSE, AND QUITE FRANKLY I PREFER THE LOANER VEHICLES BECAUSE AT LEAST YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAND ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING FORWARD...OR BACKWARD ON A HILL...OR KEEP TWO CAR LENGTHS BEHIND BECAUSE EMERGENCY BRAKING IS NOT AN OPTION. TRADE IN VALUE IS LESS THAN HALF WHAT I PAID, AND I'M AFRAID THE NEXT OWNER MIGHT BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. MY GRANDMOTHER AND MY SON WON'T RIDE IN IT...REST OF THE FAMILY DOESN'T WANT TO EVEN TRY AFTER HEARING THE STORIES. SO, DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE VEHICLES. CHEVY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, AND ADMIT WHEN THEY MANUFACTURE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. ALL VEHICLES HAVE RECALLS. I'VE OWNED 5 CHEVY'S. NEVER AGAIN. ACTUALLY CONSIDERING LETTING THEM REPO THE VEHICLE JUST TO GET RID OF IT. BUYER BEWARE.
THE SEATBELT ON DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT LOCK IN PLACE AND WILL NOT GO IN AND OUT.BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND MADE A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH, AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED WITH MY DODGE JOURNEY, HITTING A GUARD RAIL AND MAKING THE CAR CRASH AND HAVE A ROLLOVER. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING INJURIES TO THE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE.
MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 45 WITH RIGHT AWAY AND HIS AT 10. I WAS ON STRAIGHT AWAY AND HE WAS AT A STOP SIGN TURNING IN THE DIRECTION I WAS COMING....UPDATED 02/22/17 *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ODOR WAS DETECTED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
WE PURCHASED A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY ON 8/04/2016 UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CERTIFIED. WE EVENTUALLY GOT THE DEALER TO AGREE FOR US TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO BE CERTIFIED AND ADDRESS ALL THE OTHER CONCERNS. WE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP IN NY, HEADING HOME TO PA AND THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY WIFE, OUR ONLY DAUGHTER, TWO YOUNGEST SONS, AND MYSELF. WE WERE STRANDED, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURE DID NOTHING INCLUDING THE WARRANTY COMPANY. ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE HAD FACTORY, WE JUST PURCHASE THE VEHICLE INCLUDING "REQUIRED WARRANTY" FOR $2000, WE WERE DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE FROM DODGE AND THE DEALERSHIP. WE HAVE BEEN IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE DEALER VIA DIFFERENT MEDIATION AND TO THIS DAY, WE ARE STILL ON OUR OWN WITH OUT A VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPERS ONLY WORK ON HIGH, MUST CAREFULLY, PURPOSEFULLY TIME TURNING THEM OFF OR THEY GET STUCK ANYWHERE BETWEEN THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. ARE NOT CONSISTENT WITH TURNING ON. PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER, PLEASE RECALL THIS
HELFMAN DODGE KATY FREEWAY HOUSTON 713-533-6100 SAY PARTS FOR SAFETY RECALL "ON BACK ORDER,,,MAY TAKE A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS" BEFORE THEY HAVE THE PARTS. ABS NOTICE R61/NHTSA 15V-675. SO WE ARE LEFT WITH A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH DEALER UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO REPAIR.
MY TIRES ARE LEAKING AIR AND COMPLETELY BALLED, MY CAR HAS 27,000. I THINK SINCE WE'VE DONE ALL THE PROPER MAINTENANCE THEY SHOULD HAVE LASTED A LOT LONGER.

I HAD A AUTO ACCIDENT I FEEL WAS CAUSED BY THIS BRAKE RECALL. MY BRAKES HAVE FAILED AGAIN. LUCKLY NO ONE ELSE WAS AT STOP SIGN. I CALLED IMMEDIATELY WHEN I HOT THE NOTICE AND THEY CAN NOT FIX MY BRAKES UNTIL AUG 31 I WAS ON A CITY STREET EACH TIME
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL TO UPDATE THE COMPUTER. AFTER HAVING THE RECALL FIXED IN MAY 2016, I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MISSING, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. THIS WAS ON 6/2/16. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING REALLY ROUGH, AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING TO STALL. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT , THE ENGINE LIGHT QUIT FLASHING & APPEARED SOLID. IT STOPPED MISSING, BUT THERE WAS A DEFINITE LACK OF POWER AND ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER ON 6/3/16. AGAIN UNABLE TO RECREATE INCIDENT, SO THEY RERAN THE COMPUTER UPDATE FROM THE RECALL, CLEARED CODES & TURNED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF. ON 7/2/16, I WAS ONCE AGAIN SITTING COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT GETTING READY TO TURN LEFT. WHILE IDLING AT STOP LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AGAIN & THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT FOR A SHOPPING CENTER. AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT THE VEHICLE STALLED HALF IN THE PARKING SPOT. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AND PULL THE REST OF THE WAY IN THE SPOT. AFTER BEING IN THE STORE ABOUT AN HOUR, WE CAME BACK OUT, THE VEHICLE STARTED, BUT AGAIN HAD A DEFINITE LACK OF POWER. AFTER DRIVING IT LESS THAN A MILE, IT STALLED OUT AGAIN WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP. WE WERE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE BACK AND GET IT BACK HOME, STILL WITH A DEFINITELY LACK OF POWER, AND PARK IT FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. AFTER THE HOLIDAY, ON 7/5/16, I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE AGAIN THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, HAVE CLEARED CODES, TURNED OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT & ADVISED ME TO COME PICK IT UP. I CHATTED WITH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY CLAIM TO BE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE OR ANY RESOLUTION. TRANSCRIPT ATTACHED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BATTERY SAVER LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE RADIO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY DOOR MIGHT HAVE BEEN LEFT OPEN, WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DIE. THE TECHNICIAN CHARGED UP THE BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,400.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST IN MY 2014 JOURNEY DEPLOYED WITHOUT CAUSE. IT SLAMMED MY WIFE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMOOTH HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH.
WHEN SHIFING THE VEHICKLE TO PARK IT DOES NOT LOCK INTO THE PARK POSITION, IT GOES INTO THE REVERSE POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES, TWO RECENTLY. THE SHIFT LEVER DOES NOT GO TO THE LEFT LOCKING IT IN THE PARK POSITION.

THE DEALER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. KEY FOB DOESNT ALWAYS UNLOCK/LOCK/START WITH PUSH START, USUALLY ITS DELAYED OR VEHICLE WILL SAY VEHICLE IS RUNNING BUT THE IGNITION WONT KICK ON START WITH PUSH START. WILL BE DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL AND WITH AN OPEN OF THE DOOR THE VEHICLE SIGNALS THAT THE KEY HAS LEFT THE CAR. I HAVE REPLACED THE KEY FOB AND BATTERIES AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. BIGGEST CONCERN IS NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WHEN NEEDED OR BEING LOCKED OUT. ALSO, THE TOUCH SCREEN AND RADIO DIALS DON'T ALWAYS WORK ON STEERING WHEEL.

WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO FREEWAY LAST NIGHT, REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. VEHICLE HAS OEM KUMHO SOLUS KH16 225/65R17 TIRES WITH JUST UNDER 36K MILES. THE SIDE WALL SHOWS A PERFECT SEPARATION (SEE ATTACHED IMAGE). ISSUE APPEARS TO BE SAME AS REASON FOR RECALL OF ANOTHER KUMHO SOLUS TIRE MODEL. I HAVE INCLUDED A PHOTO OF THE TIRE THAT BLEW OUT. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO SIDE OF ENTRANCE RAMP AND REPLACE TIRE WITH COMPACT SPARE. THERE ARE AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF SAFETY COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA REGARDING THIS TIRE...OVER 1/2 ARE FOR THE DODGE JOURNEY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN IT STARTED RAINING. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED CUTS AND BRUISES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS LATER DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL FOR THE ANTILOCK BRAKES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
WHILE IN DRIVE FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OR AUTO-SHIFT OPTION, WHETHER IN MOTION OR NOT, THE GEARSHIFT DOES NOT LOCK MOVING THE SHIFT KNOB FROM DRIVE TO ANY GEAR ABOVE NEUTRAL. MOST GEARSHAFTS IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES LOCK AT NEUTRAL AND THE BRAKE MUST DEPRESS BEFORE GOING INTO REVERSE OR PARK. THIS VEHICLE HAS NO SUCH PREVENTATIVE METHOD AGAINST PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE DRIVETRAIN/TRANSMISSION/ENGINE.

AFTER I WAS INITIALLY NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, I CALLED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD AT THIS TIME THAT THE PARTS REQUIRED WERE NOT IN STOCK AND TO CHECK BACK IN A FEW DAYS. UPON CALLING A SECOND TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. AFTER A MONTH OF WAITING AND NO NOTIFICATION, I CALLED FOR A THIRD TIME AND WAS TOLD PARTS WERE STILL NOT IN STOCK AND THAT I WOULD NOW BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. ED VOYLES FAILED TO OFFER A TIMELINE FOR RESOLUTION NOR SIMPLY TELL ME MY PLACE ON THE WAIT LIST, STATING THAT IT WAS NOT NUMBERED.

WITH A RECALL LIKE THIS THAT AFFECTS THE BREAKING SYSTEM AND CAN CAUSE A CRASH AND THE DRIVER NOT AWARE IT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS NERVOUS BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN, SO I IMMEDIATELY WENT HOME.
