Headlight housings leak on both sides of car causing extreme condensation buildup causing poor visibility and causing headlight bulbs to burn out at unpredictable times. Loss of a headlight causing serious vision problems at night. I've had to change headlight bulbs often, problem started in early 2020 and I believe Chrysler/ Dodge should have a recall for their defective headlight housings on this vehicle. The estimated cost to replace their defective housings is well over $1,000.
AT JUST 13K MILES ALL 4 ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY WARPED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO ROTORS ARE "MAINTENANCE" EVEN THO ROTORS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST 70,000 MILES! I WAS TOLD TO 'NOT USE" MY BRAKES WHILE DOING 75 AROUND TURNS...THAT IS CHRYSLER'S SOLUTION?CAR SHUDDERS ARE 75 MPH IF YOU TOUCH THE BRAKES. *TR
THE BACKUP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING AND THE CABIN LIGHTS WITHIN THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF, NOT EVEN WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS WOULD GET BRIGHTER EVERY TIME I HIT THE BREAK MAKING IT DANGEROUS DRIVING IN THE DARK AND ELIMINATED THE USE OF THE BACKUP CAMERA FOR SAFETY.
Back up camera stopped working just after manufacturer warranty expired. When car is in reverse the screen in the rear view indicates the camera isn't working

2018 DODGE JOURNEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED UPON RETURNING HOME, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND WALL FRAME. THERE WAS ALSO DAMAGE TO A RIDING LAWN MOWER. *JS
BACKUP CAMERA IS EXTREMELY FUZZY AND I CAN HARDLY SEE OUT OF IT!!
SUV WAS MAKING A LOUD WHINING SOUND TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD. HAD IT CHANGED BY DEALERSHIP, I FEEL THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS SOON WHEN THE SUV IS LESS THAN 2 YRS OLD. NOW THE PASSENGERS SIDE STRUT IS GONE BAD.
WHILE DRIVING FROM SAN DIEGO TO DALLAS WITH CRUISE ENGAGED IT SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND BECAME ERATIC SPEEDING UP AND SLOWING DOWN. ENGINE RPM FLUCTUATED AT SAME TIME. BRAKING DID NOT FULLY DISENGAGE THE SYSTEM. WHEN BRAKED TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT AND HAD TO TURN SYSTEM OFF TO HALT ITS OPERATION. WORKS FINE AT TIMES THEN UNEXPECTEDLY DOES IT AGAIN. MAY BE CONNECTED TO OPERATION IN ELEVATION CHANGES.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OUT OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT DROVE TO FRANKLIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1124 MURFREESBORO RD, FRANKLIN, TN 37064, (615) 266-0145) WHERE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I WAS DRIVING MID DAY, 35 MPH ON MAJOR CITY STREET AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AS I WAS IN RIGHT HAND LANE I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE CAR TO THE CURB EVEN THOUGH THE POWER STEERING HAD SHUT DOWN. WITH THE CAR STOPPED I COULD SEE THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON AND THE IT WAS STILL IN "DRIVE". AFTER MY NERVES CALMED I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE ON. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR THAT I HAD DRIVEN FOR 1,700 MILES DURING THE PAST 10 DAYS WITH OUT A PROBLEM. HOWEVER AN HOUR BEFORE I HAD BEEN ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN A DRIVING RAINSTORM. HAD IT SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING THERE I AM SURE THE ACCIDENT WOULD OF SHUT THAT INTERSTATE FOR HOURS.
The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at night, the contact noticed that the headlights were significantly dim. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact had been driving with the high-beam headlights at night. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 35-45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal to merge into another lane, the vehicle failed to respond. The traction control warning light and an unknown warming light were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving 35-45 MPH, which required the contact to pull to the side of the road on each occasion. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle responded as needed on some occasions and the contact was able to drive safely; however, on other occasions, the failure recurred upon resuming driving. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, and to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera was inoperable while reversing. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact's husband replaced the rearview camera fuse, per the Owner's Manual instructions; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failures to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V723000 (Exterior Lighting), 18V524000(Electrical System), and 18V398000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
I WAS IN A WRECK ON OCT 2 2019 WHERE THE FOUNT END OF MY CAR WAS RIPPED OFF AND AND SEVERELY DAMAGED MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED CAUSING ME TO HIT MY DOOR AND WINDOW AS WELL AS SLAMMING ME INTO MY DASH CAUSING INJURIES THIS WRECK HAPPENED AS I WAS CROSSING A INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 15MPH WHEN ANOTHER CAR HIT ME GOING VERY FAST WITH EXTREME FORCE
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS STRUGGLING FOR POWER. I EXITED. AT THE STOPLIGHT MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND PUTTERING. `WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS TO GO THE CAR PUTTERED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO, BUT THEN DID. SO I DROVE TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP ON THE NEXT EXIT. MY CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF IN THE ENTRANCE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC REPORTED THAT A FUEL INJECTOR HAD EXPLODED AND WAS SPEWING RAW GAS. MY CAR IS NOW IN THE SHOP AWAITING PARTS. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT IT EASILY SLIPS INT REVERSE WHILE DRIVING. SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS!
WHEN TO USE SECOND ROW CENTER SEATBELT FOR CHILD RESTRAINT ON CAR SEAT. NOTICED THE MECHANICAL LOCK FROM EXTENSION OF THE BELT DID NOT LOCK AND IF WERE TO GET IN WRECK WOULD NOT FUNCTION AS THE SAFETY DEVICE SHOULD. DID A QUESTIONING OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLE OWNERS AND ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.THIS IS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING STILL. SECOND PROBLEM IS MOTOR MOUNTS WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED ON ANY INCLINE SURFACE EVEN SLIGHT INCLINE OF JERKING VIOLENTLY FROM PARK TO ANY GEAR AND BACK TO PARK. MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS ALSO QUESTIONED HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES AND NEGATIVE FIXES OR RESOLUTIONS FROM DEALERSHIPS REPAIR PERSONNEL. THIS IS FROM PARK TO MOTION AND VICE VERSA.

THE STICK SHIFT THAT CONTROLS THE VEHICLE FOR PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL, REVERSE AND MANUAL MODES IS IN THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE, VERY MUCH IN THE WAY OF NORMAL DRIVING ROUTINES. 3 TIMES NOW, SINCE APRIL, THE SHIFTER HAS ACCIDENTALLY BEEN TOUCHED OR BUMPED BY THE DRIVER. TWICE THIS HAPPENED AND MY CAR WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. ONCE MY CAR WAS PLACED INTO REVERSE WHILE DRIVING! THE PLACEMENT OF THE SHIFTER AND THE EASE AT WHICH IT SHIFTS IS POTENTIALLY A FATAL HAZARD.
I WAS AT THE STOP SIGN AT THE TOP OF MY HILL. I ACCELERATED AND MY PURSE FELL FORWARD AND KNOCKED MY SHIFTER INTO REVERSE AT 5 MPH. I WAS ON A PUBLIC ROAD. ANOTHER TIME, MY DAUGHTER REACHED FOR THE PLUG TO PLUG IN HER CHARGER AND ACCIDENTALLY KNOCK THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE. WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT.

THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH MORE LEAKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.

ON JUNE 3, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD AND MY VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING FROM THE AC VENT NEAR THE GLOVE BOX. I GOT ME AND MY SON AND FOUR YEAR OLD PASSENGER OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AIR BAGS STARTED BLOWING OUT AND VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE AND BURNED COMPLETELY. NO ONE WILL TELL ME WHY IT BURNED.

WHEN SECOND ROW SEATS ARE FOLDED IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION AND SLID FORWARD. THEY DO NOT LOCK IN PLACE. THE SEAT SLAMS FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED BEFORE CAUSING A SEVERE INJURY.

FROM DAY 1: CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY; DOESN'T GO AS IT SHOULD WHEN ONE PULLS INTO TRAFFIC. VERY SCARY! THE 'EXTRA GEARS' ONLY MAKE THE MOTOR SOUND LIKE IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE, & DOESN'T MAKE CAR MOVE ANY FASTER/EASIER. I AM AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH A PERFECT DRIVING RECORD; IT'S NOT THE DRIVER! SECOND ISSUE: THE HOOD KEEPS POPPING UP, AND I FEAR IT WILL EVENTUALLY FLY ALL THE WAY UP. THE CAR KEPT LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND NO ENGINE LIGHTS WERE POPPING UP TO SHOW THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST 2 TIMES WERE IN REVERSE. THE POWER CUT OFF AND I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL OR BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND GO. THE THIRD TIME I WAS GOING FORWARD ON A HIGHWAY. I SLOWED TO TURN ON AND THE POWER CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL OR BRAKES. LUCKILY I WAS NOT AROUND OTHER VEHICLES AND THE CAR SLOWED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN GRASS. THIS OCCURRED WITH A YOUNG CHILD IN THE CAR AND IT SCARED BOTH OF US. I WAS ABLE TO THEN START THE CAR AGAIN AND GET IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT DAY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR MACHINES. THEY DROVE THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE LAST DAY WHEN THEY TOOK IT FOR ONE MORE DRIVE THE CAR DIED ON THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP AGAIN AND IT SHOWED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. WHEN THEY CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION THEY TOLD THEM TO LOOK AT THE ENGINE. THAT IS WHEN THEY FOUND METAL SHARDS AND OTHER THINGS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. THE CORPORATION HAD KNOWN THAT SOME OF THESE ENGINES WERE FAULTY BUT HAD NOT NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP OR THE CONSUMERS THAT THEY COULD BE DRIVING A CAR WITH A FAULTY ENGINE. THIS WAS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND ESPECIALLY CONCERNING SINCE WE HAD BEEN DRIVING OUR YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH US. I BELIEVE THE CONSUMERS SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY COULD HAVE FAULTY ENGINES AND NOT KNOW BECAUSE THE SERVICE MACHINES DO NOT DETECT THE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER IS NOT GIVING OUT THE INFORMATION.
WHEN DRIVING OVER 50 MPH THE RPM STARTS ESCALATING AND GOES BACK TO NORMAL. RPM REPEATS AFTER ONE TO TWO MINUTES. AFTER PUTTING A FULL TANK OF GAS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND METER READ GAS TANK EMPTY. VEHICLE STAYED WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR 8 DAYS FIRST TIME. FUEL PUMP AND WIRES WAS FULLY REPLACED. VEHICLE IS BACK WITH DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND TIME. THIS TIME THE GAS METER READS LESS THAN 3/4 TANK AS A FULL TANK OF GAS IS PUT INTO THE VEHICLE. RPM STARTS DOING THE SAME THING WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS 50 MPH. WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP FUEL PUMP AND WIRES ARE THE REASON FOR MY VEHICLE BEING IN THE SHOP AGAIN. VEHICLE IS BACK TWICE IN THE SHOP LESS THAN 2 MONTHS. STILL WITHOUT A PROPER WORKING VEHICLE
WHEN I WENT TO DEALERSHIP I KNEW I WANT A TRUCK WITH 3RD ROW, I TEST DROVE THE JOURNEY I PICKED OUT OF WHAT WAS OFFERED WHEN I TEST DROVE THE FIRST TRUCK, IT REFUSED TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SO WE WENT BACK AND DROVE THE ONE I PURCHASED. WELL I GOT IT HOME AND DROVE FOR A FEW DAYS AND NOTICED WHEN I WOULD TAKE IT OUT OF PARK IT WOULD ,AKE A LOUD THUMP NOISE ONLY SOMETIMES LIKE I AM SITTING ON A HILL. I TOOK IT BACK THEY HEARD THE NOISE SAID THEY COULD FIX IT BUT SERVICE SAID THAT WAS NORMAL, WHICH I STRONGLY DISAGREED BUT MY DEAL WAS FUNDED AND NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. SO ANOTHER MONTH OR SO LATER I NOTICE MY GAS TO EMPTY WAS JUMPING DRASTICALLY I FIGURED BAD GAS SO I DROVE IT OUT AND TRIED AGAIN AND AGAIN. FINALLY HAD IT BECAUSE GOING FROM 60 TO 30 IN 2 MILES IS MAJOR THAT SAME WEEK I USED MY CRUISE CONTROL FOR MAYBE THE 3RD TIME SINCE I HAD THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT KEEP A STEADY SPEED I WENT UP 5 MPH FASTER THAN I SET IT AND THEN DROPPED IT DID THIS UNTIL I CANCELLED THE CRUISE. I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER THEY HAVE HAD IT A WEEK AND NO WORD FROM THEM YET. MEANWHILE I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SEE THE SAME ISSUES I AM HAVING LEAD TO MORE ISSUES LIKE THE BRAKES NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND I TRAVEL 100 MILES BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT IS A VERY UNEASY FEELING. THE OTHER ISSUES LIKE THE RADIO FREEZING INBETWEEN CHANGING FROM BLUE-TOOTH TO RADIO SO I HAVE TO DRIVE THAT ENTIRE HOUR TRIP TO WORK WITHOUT ANY MUSIC UNLESS I STOP AND RESTART THE CAR. MY CAR STARTED OFF WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THEN SOON AFTER, AS I SLOWED DOWN AND TURNED, MY ENGINE SHUT OFF, I LOST ALL POWER STEERING, AND THE BATTERY REMAINED ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE MANY TIMES AND IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. (DOESN'T MATTER IF I JUST STARTED THE CAR, I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES, WARM WEATHER / COLD WEATHER, IT JUST HAPPENS WHEN IT HAPPENS.) MORE RECENTLY, THE TCS (TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM) WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY. (I HAVE FOOTAGE OF THE ROAD BEING 100% CLEAR WHILE THIS IS ON IN MY CAR.) IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF ONCE IT TURNS ON. IT MAKES IT SO I CAN'T SPEED UP HARDLY AT ALL WHICH OF COURSE HASN'T HAD THE BEST OUTCOMES ON THE HIGHWAY. AND ALONG WITH THAT, IF I'M DRIVING AND TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE SPUTTERS QUICKLY FOR A MOMENT AND JERKS THE CAR DOWN AS IF THE BRAKES LOCK FOR A MOMENT. LASTLY, THE CAR RECENTLY MADE CLICKING NOISES AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE GAS FILLING UP. (IT SAYS IT'S FULL WHEN IT'S CLEARLY NOT) I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN BEFORE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD TO CANCEL A RECENT APPOINTMENT DUE TO THE FLOODING IN IOWA BUT I'M AFRAID THERE IS SOMETHING FAR WORSE THAT THEY WONT BE ABLE TO FIX, LIKE LAST TIME. I HAVE A 2018 DODGE JOURNEY I HAD THE DRIVER SEST RECLINED ALL THE WAY BACK TO VACUUM. I LIFT THE HANDLE TO PUT SEAT UP AND IT FLEW FORWARD HARD. AFTER TURNING ON VEHICLE NOTICED AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. TOOK TO DODGE THEY SAID ITS THE DRIVER HEADREST THE WIRES WERE PULLED OUT AND ACTIVATED AIRBAG LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GROUND WIRE FROM THE BATTERY TO THE VEHICLE WAS NOT CONNECTED APPROPRIATELY. A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
