The day after I bought this vehicle it had to go directly back because of the catalytic converter. I was told they replaced it but did not show me the proof nor did they give me a valid warranty card. There is something wrong with the electrical system everything flickers and it just sounds really bad. The driver side passenger side window broke because it's made of plastic. The front both passenger and driver side door handles broke off. I had to Jerry rig it. And the reason I think this would be dangerous is if we were to need to get out of the car we would not be able to in case of an emergency. I've looked under the items that were recalled on this vehicle. But I get a notification that says I'm not allowed to have it fixed. Unless it's out of pocket. I purchased this car in August 2015 or 2016. The dates on the calendar below are inaccurate because the catalytic converter was done the very next day and the driver side indoor handle has been broken off for quite a while. But recently in the last week or so the other one snapped off.
This 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T 4x4 electrically stalled and died at 65mph on the [XXX] . This is the 3rd time it has stalled out electrically. The vehicle was inspected and told bad TIMP. Our heater core has gone out twice now, preventing us from properly being able to defrost our windows /windshield in winter and remove moisture during cooler days. It creates a substantial risk by reducing, or in some cases, completely removing visibility
The contact owned a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V121000 (POWER TRAIN, AIR BAGS, STRUCTURE). The contact stated that while stopped, the sound of an explosion was heard, and the side air bags deployed. The contact believed the vehicle had been struck by another vehicle. The contact suffered injuries to the neck and had issues with his hearing. The contact stated that medical attention was not required. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the underbody shield was striking the drive shaft while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer advised the contact that a field inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The field inspector inspected the vehicle and the contact was awaiting the results. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Ever since I bought this vehicle, I have been having issues with it registering the key, which keeps causing an automatic security alert system to shut down my vehicle the moment I start it. I've already replaced the battery to my car. I've already had locksmiths examined the issue and nobody can seem to find the problem. The issue with the car is definitely a security issue. The car shuts down automatically and goes into theft mode which prevents me from driving my vehicle. That could be a result to a software malfunction or something but it doesn't register the keys which originally sets off the security warning. Whenever the car does register the key it drives and operates just fine. It's the computer that prevents me from driving it or whatever automatic system that is related to theft mode.
Took car in for windshield wiper safety recall on 3/24/23. BEFORE the recall the wipers worked perfectly. After the dealer serviced the wipers they sometimes would not go off and then seemed to be stalling a lot but I did not have many occasions where I needed to use the wipers as I work from home and have a second car in the household. Today I was driving in a severe thunderstorm when they stopped working completely. In fact, they are now stuck in the upright position and will not move. This is EXTREMELY dangerous and exactly what the recall was meant to avoid! It makes me wonder if the mechanics actually did anything to my car at all.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the underbody shield was striking the drive shaft while driving. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number 13V121000 (Power Train, Air Bags, Structure) however, the fix failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 201,500.
I had my vehicle a week before it start misfiring it’s been months I had it worked on numerous times and still has not been fixed. When I try to crank it I have to keep my foot on the gas and if I let go it will cut back off I had so many parts replaced and the issue remain the same
My car didn’t want to start after seeing a check engine light saying cylinder 2 misfire then 4 had fuel pump replaced still had check engine light and was misfiring afterwards a week or two the truck stalled while driving off freeway in middle of traffic breakers did not work, car frozen almost wrecked. I had it towed back to garage and they replace fuel pump again but car won’t stay on it will turn on then shut off by itself not showing any codes mechanics can’t find issue over 2 weeks at garage already!!
Windshield wipers stopped working while in the “on” position on the windshield. I replaced the wiper motor but the wipers still do not work. Yes, this issue was inspected by several reputable mechanics and service centers. This issue causes safety issues as I live in a region who experiences most of almost all precipitation including rain, hail, snow and etc. I am unable to drive under these conditions because I am unable to use my wipers. There were no warning signs or messages before the wipers failed. I was informed by the Dodge/Chrysler dealership that this is a common issue with this truck and year.
Throttle body light came on car died. Thought it was throttle body replaced it didn’t start. It has crank but no start. Have had 11 people look at it now have replaced spark plugs, coils, battery terminals, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, fuel pump but the car still will not start. I was told the tipm could cause this issue I need to know what else I can do. I have no vehicle now can’t work due to this and I am struggling to get by. No codes show up, no blinking red light for the key, checked the fuses, checked fuel pressure. Been down a month now.
The TIPM is starting to fail. The power locks do not work, the car has problems starting has a very slow start, the horn will randomly go off and sometimes it does not want to start at all. Every article I’ve read, and every dealership I’ve talked with has said to replace the entire TIPM module. There are many other cases like this and it all comes down to the module. So with this said I am asking for either reassurance that it is that. Or receive help to be able to fix it.
While filling gas Leaks out filler Nozzle
Brake light have stopped working randomly. Were working fine one day then next day I have no brake lights, I've had several people see if they could find the problem with no success. Could possibly be faulty wiring to the brake lights? Put just normal tail lights work with only those lights when breaking. I've also seen several same make and model vehicles with the same issue in the same town that I live
Wipers have stopped working after the recall was repaired
The vehicle windshield wiper system comes on while driving constantly. It is very distracting and definitely causes an obstruction in your visibility. It is very annoying as well. It acts as if the wiper system does not want to go in the park position on the wiper motor.
I was driving down the rd and all of the sudden my truck jumps into 2nd gear and looses all power to speed up and it seems like I'm in neutral my relay box is messing up everything electrical now it shuts off at stop signs and If it keeps doing all this I'll have to replace transmission. I've already replace tipm 2 times
Four total incidents of the vehicle engine shutting off while driving the car. Most recent today 12-17-21 was placed in extremely dangerous situation and was almost rear ended 5 times by other vehicles traveling at speeds greater than 55 mph. 1st instance occurred back in 2007 traveling West bound on I635 in Dallas (speed of 65mph) engine shut off, loss of power steering coasted to side of road. 2nd incident Fall 2007 - from complete stop to turn left and cross divided highway, the engine shut down right in the middle of the intersection and was nearly broadsided by oncoming car traveling at 45 mph. 3rd incident happened while driving in my neighborhood, engine shut down and loss of power to steering. Daimler Chrysler issued a recall to reprogram the TPIM module back in 2008 to address the problem. Nothing since then until today. I am the original Owner of this car and it has been well maintained and is still covered under the manufacturers warranty for as long as I own the vehicle. What has prompted me to report this problem is the fact that I could have been seriously injured. There was no warning whatsoever and the place where this took place had a blind spot as the car lost power during the climb and coasted at 2 mph down slope on a bend on the bridge. Cars traveling towards me had no visibility to my vehicle which was for all practical purposes at a stand still. I notified the Dodge Chrysler dealership of what took place and will also contact MOPAR to raise this serious problem. If a vehicle doesn't start is one thing, but to have a car loose power out of nowhere without warning has almost cost me serious harm on multiple occasions. Daimler Chrysler should do something before loss of life takes place.
I noticed a few months ago my dash lights and radio lights at night when I turn my headlights on would flicker on and off several times then stop and do it again repeated process. I never got it looked at so just the other day I was driving and my windshield wipers, my emergency flashers and my driverside window and the back passenger window was all going crazy my widows was rolling up and down my flashers was going off and my wipers wouldn't turn off so I immediately pull over fearing of causing an accident with someone due to not being able to focus on driving once I pulled over my horn started blowing like crazy it was weird so I cut the vehicle off and everything kept doing what it was doing so I popped the hood and killed the battery. I waited maybe 10 minutes and hooked the battery back up and seconds later my horn only started going crazy again so I had no option out of the safety of me and other vehicles on the road to just have it towed back to my house I have been researching it and I've come to find out that there's several others with dodge nitros that have had the same issue as me. The tipm module (fuse box) was bad. I have yet to be able to drive my vehicle as it would be very unsafe and I've not yet got it towed to the dealership to look at it for reasons of what I've seen other complaints had to say about there experience at the dealership.. there needs to be a recall on the electrical malfunction as it is a huge!!! Safety concern for everybody. Please do something about this.
1. Engine light on reads gas cap . We replaced gas cap numbers times and engine light doesn’t go away. 2. Wipers not working . Water cleaning spray for windows not working front or back windows. 3. I have replaced my windows panel numerous times. The window panels keep braking and my windows stay down. Extremely annoying.
The check engine light turn on for a day or two then it turns off . Three or two Months later it does the same thing .
The horn blows randomly, even when its parked. The car was taken to a dealer (Scranton Dodge) where they replaced the "clock spring"and acknowledged that the problem was not solved, however,they charged $674, and stated they for an additional $1000 would try the TIPM module. They removed the fuse to insure the horn would not blow. Having no horn is a safety violation in PA, as such, the vehicle will not pass the state safety inspection. They would continue to work on the problem but did not know what was causing the problem. In searching the internet I found MANY others with the same unsolved problem. I also contacted Jennifer at 11:47 AM on August 10 at Chryslers complaint department (1800 247-9753) and she stated Chrysler would not accept any responsibility for the problem.
ENGINE STARTED SMOKING WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN PARKING LOT AREA FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. ENGINE WAS OFF. SHE GOT OUT OF VEHICLE GRABBING HER DOG FROM THE BACK. SHE RAN INSIDE THE BUILDING TO GET ME (MOTHER) LESS THAN 2 MIN THE SMOKE GRADUALLY GOT HEAVIER AND DARKER THEN FIRE WAS DRIPPING OUT FROM UNDER ENGINE. I TRIED TO POP THE HOOD THINKING IT COULD GET AIR TO MAYBE HELP THE FIRE BUT IT WOULDNT POP UP. I TOOK FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO ENGINE ALONG WITH SOMEONE ELSE. SHORTLY AFTER THE POLICE AND FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVED. THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS SURROUNDING BUT THEY MOVED BEFORE ANY DAMAGE OCCURED. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING THAT SHE WAS PARKED AT, SOFFIT AND CRACKED WINDOW FROM THE HEAT. THERE WAS ABOUT 20 PEOPLE THAT WITNESSED THE ENTIRE THING. NO PROBLEMS WITH CAR PRIOR TO. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR SUNSHINE 75 DEGREE'S.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V396000 (Air bags, Steering) The contact stated the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact then took the vehicle back to the dealer weeks later where they partially serviced the recall but did not have all of the parts to complete the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Significant amount of fuel spills from tank, down the side of vehicle and onto the ground during refueling. Unavoidable unless stopped at least a gallon prior to filling tank. This requires guessing the amount of fuel the tank can hold based off miles driven and/or fuel gauge readings. With practice I have been able to minimize the fuel spillage on my part but it still happens. I am in violation of state laws regarding refueling and pollution each time there is an incident. Further more, I have had a major safety issue resulting from loaning the vehicle to another driver. Post fill up resulting in said spillage; it was reported to me that a cigarette was tossed from a vehicle immediately after pulling from the pump, hitting the rear quarter panel covered in gasoline. Fortunately it just missed the fresh spill.
The EGR valve has to replaced yearly. I have replaced every year since I’ve had it. It causes the check engine to come on and inhibits me from getting the nitro inspected and causes damage to my engine. I have had to replace it 3 times.
I WAS SITTING WAITING ADD A RED LIGHT GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN MY CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD NOW I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAIDIT WAS THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE ON MY 2007 DODGE NITRO AND I SEE WHERE THERE'S BEEN A RECALL UNDER TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAYBACK IN 2007 AND NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP GETTINGMY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPAIR AND IT'S DOING ALL THE THINGS THAT OTHER CARS HAVE EXPERIENCE SUCH AS ENGINE STALLINGMY HORN GOES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHENEVER IT WANTS THERE'S A FAN IT COMES ON AND TURNS ALL MY DASH LIGHTS ON AND RUNS MY BATTERY DOWNNOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP BEING HAVING A TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPAIR AND IWANT TO KNOW WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A RECALL THAT THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT
WHEN GETTING FUEL, THE VAPORS IN THE TANK WILL NOT ALLOW THE TANK TO FILL UP WITHOUT HAVING TO HAVE THE GAS NOZZLE UPSIDE DOWN. WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, THE NOZZLE DOES NOT STOP AND GAS SPEWS FROM THE TANK. AFTER DRIVING AWAY ONCE THE TANK IS FULL THE CAR STARTS TO BUCK AND SHAKE
WHEN PUTTING FUEL INTO THE TANK AT A GAS STATION PUMP, THE FUEL DOESN'T STOP WHEN THE TANK IS FULL AND SPILLS OUT ALL OVER THE CAR. DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW I AM PUTTING FUEL INTO THE TANK. DODGE, YOU HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SINCE 2008. WHY HAVE YOU NOT ISSUED A RECALL?
My engine stalled. But only when the transmission was at park. It happened twice in 5 years and when it was raining. Also my engine struggles a bit to turn on in the morning but only in the summer time. If it’s winter car starts up with ease. But I do notice when my engine is fully warm and I shut off my car to go to a store, when I go back and turn on my car it will just crank. I have to shut it off and then turn it back on.This happens quite often. And this only happens in the winter in a fully warmed engine. Not the summer. This been happening about three years now. I’ve got it inspected but nothing is found wrong.
LAST NOVEMBER, YOU NOTIFIED ME OF A RECALL ON MY 2007 DODGE NITRO FOR THE DRIVER AIR BAG EMBLEM. I CALLED BILL LUKE DODGE IN PHOENIX FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL DECEMBER, AND THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN CONTACTED . . . AND NOW YOU SENT ME A 2ND NOTICE. I CALLED BILL LUKE DODGE AGAIN AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS ON BACK ORDER NOW UNTIL JUNE. INSTEAD OF YOU SENDING ME PAST-DUE NOTICES, WHY DON'T YOU CALL THE DEALER TO GET THE PART AND PERFORM THE SERVICE. NOVEMBER TO JUNE WILL BE SEVEN MONTHS. THAT IS A LONG TIME FOR A SAFETY DELAY! AND I AM CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN YOU AND THE DEALER.
VEHICLE HAS122000 MILES. I AM SECOND OWNER,AND HAVE HAD IT FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS. ABOUT 18 MTHS AGO VEHICLE BEGAN LOCKING/UNLOCKING ITSELF. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, IT STARTED SHUTTING DOWN ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING, RANDOMLY. 3 WEEKS AGO, ALL WARNING LIGHTS IN DASH AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN VEHICLE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION, LIKE IT WAS POSSESSED. LOCAL GARAGE DIAGNOSIS WAS MALFUNCTIONING TIPM. REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AT $800 COST FOR REMANUFACTURED TIPM, AND PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.
I RECENTLY HAD A RANDOM DEPLOYMENT OF MY SIDE AIRBAGS. I WAS NOT IN A COLLISION AND HAD JUST DROVE OVER A POTHOLE IN THE ROAD. ALTHOUGH NO SERIOUS INJURIES, MY FAMILY AND I HAVE NECK SORENESS AND ARE SHAKEN. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED SPONTANEOUSLY ON A FREEWAY OR BUSY ROAD, I AM NOT SURE I WOULD BE ABLE TO SAY 'NO SERIOUS INJURIES'.

ON 09/08/2020 BOUGHT A 2007 DODGE NITRO WAS A DAILY COMMUTE NOTICED IT WAS JERKING OR MISFIRING. I ORDERED SPARK PLUGS AND COILS. ON 09/14/2020 GOING TO WORK IT WAS JERKING MORE THAN USUAL WHEN I WAS ALMOST TO WORK.. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. MADE IT TO WORK COULD SMELL SOMETHING ELECTRICALLY NOT RIGHT A FAINT BURNING SMELL AFTER I GOT OUT AND HAD PARKED IT. I WAS ON THIRD SHIFT IT WAS DARK I KNEW I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIND IT TILL THE NEXT DAY. HOUR LATER MY DODGE NITRO BURNED TO THE GROUND. TOTALED THE TRUCK NEXT TO IT TOO. HAD I HAD IT HOME CHANGING SPARK PLUGS AND COILS IT COULD HAVE BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN WITH MY FAMILY IN IT. CHRYSLER HAS A PROBLEM WITH TIPM'S STALLING NITROS AND CATCHING FIRE. I NEVER KNEW WHAT I WAS UP AGAINST TILL IT WAS TOO LATE.
My airbag light doesn’t go off after the recall fix that was recently sent out. I took my car in for the recall fix and the airbag light is still on. Is my car even safe to drive now ?
AIR BAG ON KEY INGREDIENTS LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD KEEP COME ON AND I GOT A LETTER SAID MY TRUCK ON RECALLED
MY VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL WHEN DRIVING. I HAD CONTACTED DEALER A FEW YEARS AGO ABOUT THIS AND THEY STATED THE RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL WAS FIXED BEFORE I PURCHASED VEHICLE BUT I AM STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE. SOME TIMES IT WILL STALL WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS VERY SCARY .
GOT A RECALL FOR AIRBAG EMBLEM AND HOLDER DRIVER SIDE.CAN TURN INTO SHRAPNEL DUE TO DEFECT. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND THE SAID FCA WILL NOT EVEN BEGIN TO REPAIR ISSUE UNTIL AFTER DEC. 01 2020, 5 MONTHS FROM NOW!SOUNDS SUPER DANGEROUS. PLEASE HELP!!!GET THEM TO FIX SOONER.
WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, THE VEHICLE SHOOTS GASOLINE BACK OUT AT ME, ABOUT A HALF GALLON ITS GETS ON THE CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND, THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,672.
SPEWS FUEL WHEN FUELING .USED 1/4TH OF A TANK AND WAS AT STOP LIGHT AND GAS CAP BLEW OFF AND GAS SPEWED OUTSIDE AND SMELLED LIKE RAW FUEL INSIDE FOR 2 DAYS.

I GOT OUT THE GYM AND GOT INTO THE CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED I WAS IN A PARKING LOT.
I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN, JUST PULLED FORWARD FROM A STOP LIGHT. MY WIPERS STARTED RUNNING, MY ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED FLASHING. THAT INCLUDED, CHECK ENGINE, OIL PRESSURE, LOW VOLTAGE, ABS, EPS, LOST ALL SPEEDOMETER READING, RPM READING, FUEL LEVEL, ENGINE TEMPERATURE. ON THE ODOMETER SCREEN IT DISPLAYED NO BUS. NOW IT DOES IT WHILE RUNNING, MOVING, STATIONARY, AND NOT RUNNING WITH THE KEY TURNED IN THE ON POSITION.
REPLACED MY BRAKES AND ROTORS AND HAD THEM BLED. EVER SINCE, THE BRAKE GOES DOWN CLOSE TO THE FLOOR TO TAKE EFFECT. ALSO MAKES A POPPING NOISE IN THE MIDDLE LOWER CONSOLE WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. SAFETY ISSUE FOR SURE. ON THE SUSPENSION, EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP OR UNEVEN SURFACE IT MAKES A LOT OF NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE.

EVERY TIME I PUMPED GAS INTO MY TRUCK, I GET A FUEL SHOWER FROM THE FUEL SHOOTING BACK OUT. IT HAS A DANGEROUS PROJECTILE AND IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. PUTTING GAS IN MY 2007 DODGE NITRO HAS BECOME A FEAR TO ME. NOR WAS I EVER INFORMED OF ANY RECALL. MOST RECENTLY, IT HAPPED 11/29/2019 WHEN I WENT TO FILL UP AGAIN.
