2 INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN WITH NORMAL USE. BEEN TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IS TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL FOR APPROX. $350.00. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WHILE IDLING, SHE NOTICED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE STEERING SHAFT, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE LIGHT WAS ON PERMANENTLY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I OWN A 2007 DODGE NITRO WITH 47,000 MILES THAT RECENTLY EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK, GAS WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE IS BEING HELD OR IF YOU SET IT TO FILL AUTOMATICALLY. AS SOON AS THE GAS STOPS PUMPING, YOU CAN HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A BURPING SOUND THEN ABOUT A CUP FULL OR MORE OF GAS COMES SPRAYING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. HAVE HEARD OF OTHER NITRO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM HAVING THE GAS TANK REPLACED BECAUSE OF A STUCK ROLL OVER VALVE. MY VEHICLE HAS YET TO BE REPAIRED. *TR
FIRST REPAIR: VEHICLE WOULD JERK (AS IF IT WAS SHIFTING TOO HARD) WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD AND WOULD STOP (RPM GAUGE DROPS TO 0, LOSE POWER STEERING, WOULD HAVE TO COAST TO SHOULDER AND RE-START VEHICLE). FUEL INJECTOR WAS REPLACED. SECOND REPAIR: VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WITHOUT SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, ONCE IT STARTED IT WOULD STOP DRIVING (RPM GAUGE DROPS TO 0, LOSE POWER STEERING, WOULD HAVE TO COAST TO SHOULDER AND RE-START VEHICLE). RELAY WAS REPLACED. THIRD REPAIR (ABOUT TO GO BACK TO SHOP TOMORROW)- CAR STARTED NORMALLY AND THEN STOPPED WHILE DRIVING (RPM GAUGE DROPS TO 0, LOSE POWER STEERING, WOULD HAVE TO COAST TO SHOULDER AND RE-START VEHICLE). THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN 2 WEEKS THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICING FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THE MANUFACTURER'S DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, AS I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL STOP UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE RENTED A CAR UNTIL I CAN HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED AGAIN, BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4. WHEN HE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT HE ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES WHILE HE WAS DRIVING AS WELL AS ANOTHER DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN NOVEMBER 2010. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND REFERENCED RECALL 07V291000, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
UPON FUELING UP MY GAS TANK, THE NOZZLE WILL CLICK OFF AND THEN ABOUT A HALF GALLON OF GAS COMES RUSHING OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GASOLINE WOULD SPILL OUT OF THE FUEL TANK WHEN THE CONTACT WAS REFUELING. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
GAS COMES SHOOTING OUT OF FUEL FILLER NECK WHEN FILLING UP AT NUMEROUS GAS STATIONS. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE NITRO SPITS GAS BACK AT YOU ONCE IT HAS FINISHED FILLING. I PLACE THE NOZZLE FULLY INTO THE TANK AND CLICK THE AUTOMATIC FILLER IN PLACE (AS I HAVE DONE WHEN FILLING ANY OTHER CAR IN MY LIFE) AND ONCE THE NOZZLE CLICKS INDICATING IT IS FULL 1-2 CUPS OF GAS "BURPS" BACK UP SPRAYING EVERYWHERE ON ME, THE GROUND, THE CAR MAKING A GIANT MESS AND HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT MORE THAN A COUPLE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND I HAVE FOUND OUT RECENTLY THAT THE NITRO IS PRONE TO THIS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND DODGE NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DISPENSING FUEL TO THE FULL CAPACITY LEVEL, THE FUEL WOULD SPEW OUT ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
LAST FRIDAY EVENING I LEFT DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS HEADED NORTH TO THE SUBARBS AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR APPX 1 HR WITH TEMPERATURES AROUND 35 DEGREES THAT EVENING. I PARKED MY 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4 IN THE RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, LOCKED IT WITH THE REMOTE DOORLOCK, AND WENT INSIDE. APPX. 1 HR AND 35 MINUTES LATER I WENT BACK OUTSIDE TO BRING IN SEVERAL ITEMS FROM MY TRUCK AND SUDDENLY SEE THE SHOCKING SITUATION UNFOLDING BEFORE MY EYES. IN TOTAL DISBELIEF, I REALIZE THAT THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF MY TRUCK IS VIOLENTLY BURNING. THE DAY BEFORE IT CAUGHT ON FIRE, STRANGE THINGS BEGAN TO HAPPEN WITH THE DASH CONTROLS. WARNING LIGHTS STARTED TO COME ON AND THEN GO OFF, IT GOT STUCK IN 4WD AND WOULD NOT GO BACK TO 2WD AND OVERNITE WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE IT TURNED ON THE BRAKE LIGHTS BY ITSELF AND THEY STAYED ON ALL NITE UNTIL DRAINING THE BATTERY. ALL OF THESE STRANGE OCCURRENCES ARE ONE THING BUT FOR THE TRUCK TO BE JUST PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND SPONTANEOUSLY CATCH ITSELF ON FIRE IS TRULY SHOCKING. IF IT HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE THAT EVENING IT WOULD HAVE BURNED THE HOUSE DOWN AS WELL. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND ALL OF IT'S CONTENTS. AFTER THE FIRE TRUCKS PUT OUT THE FIRE, THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR EXPLAINED TO ME HOW THEY DETERMINE THE FIRES ORIGIN AND THE REPORT STATES THAT THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND DASHBOARD AREA AS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE AND/OR MALFUNCTIONING VEHICLE WIRING. I REPORTED THE FIRE TO DODGE AND THEY ASKED THAT THE VEHICLE NOT BE MOVED AND SOMEONE WOULD RESPOND IN 2 DAYS. IT'S A WEEK SINCE THE FIRE NOW AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME AT ALL. I CALLED DODGE AGAIN AND THEY SAID THIS TIME SOMEONE WOULD RESPOND IN 2 - 5 DAYS. IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD ATTORNEY WILL BE NEXT WEEKS OBJECTIVE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT PULLED THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR AND IT BROKE OFF. WHEN THE CONTACT REMOVED THE HANDLE SHE NOTICED THAT IT WAS MOLDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT ORDERED THE PART ONLINE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,700.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS ALSO MOST FULL GASOLINE SPILLED BACK OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PREVIOUSLY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED SHE HAD TO GO BACK HOME AND CHANGE CLOTHES. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED TO ANOTHER DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAD BEEN ON GOING FOR FOUR TO SIX WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER WAS REPLACED THE FUEL TANK. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,900. UPDATED 03/21/11
2007 DODGE NITRO, 3.7L ENGINE, 4WD - EVERYTIME I FILL THE TANK WITH GAS, BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER. I'VE READ ABOUT THE JEEP LIBERTY AND OTHER DODGE NITRO'S DOING THE SAME THING. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, FILLING SLOWLY, ETC. ALL WITH THE SAME RESULT. AT $4.00 PER GALLON, I CAN'T AFFORD TO WASTE A DROP OF GAS. NOT TO MENTION THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF SPILLING GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND. WE NEED TO GET THE GOV'T INVOLVED AND DO A RECALL TO FIX THE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE. IF THE US DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION DOESN'T DO ANYTHING - LETS GET THE ENVIRONMENTALISM INVOLVED. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE RIGHT NOW (FUEL SPILLING ALL OVER THE GROUND COULD CAUSE A FIRE), BUT IF THE CAR IS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER, GAS WILL SPILL ALL OVER THE PLACE. EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILS TO STOP MY 2007 DODGE NITRO WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT ALSO CAN NOT HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED AT A 25DEGREE INCLINE WITH THE E-BRAKE HANDLE RAISED FULLY. APPARENTLY THERE'S A RECALL (H28) ON THIS, BUT NOTES FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY, WHAT THE HELL DOES THE TRANSMISSION TYPE HAVE TO DO WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WORKING? I HAVE NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT TOUCH IT EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, AT LEAST ONE QUART OF GASOLINE WOULD SPEW BACK OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK AND WOULD OCCUR WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
2007 DODGE NITRO 4 X 4 - WHEN FILLING WITH FUEL A PROBLEM IN THE GAS TANK AND OR FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY MAKES SIGNIFICANT QUANTITIES OF FUEL SPILL, AND IN SOME CASES UNDER FORCE, SPRAY OUT OF THE VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY 1-2 MEASURING CUPS IS THE GENERAL AMOUNT. FUEL SPILLS ON VEHICLE, GAS FILLER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY, THE GROUND, AND OFTEN ON THE PERSON FILING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS ON EVERY FILL UP WITH FUEL. I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN 2 OTHER NITRO VEHICLES AND ONE JEEP LIBERTY SUV HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WHILE AT A GAS STATION. GAS STATION ATTENDANTS ACTUALLY COMMENTED THIS HAPPENS ON THESE VEHICLES, "ALL THE TIME". THE DODGE CORPORATION WEBSITE PAGES SPECIFIC TO NITRO OWNERS HAVE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS LISTED ON THIS ISSUE. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER - WAS TOLD THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. THEY CHARGED FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THEY QUOTED 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT TO HAVE WORK DONE AT A LOCAL INDEPENDENT SHOP. THEY REFUSED TO GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT CONTINUE. COMPLAINT #21091094 FILED WITH CHRYSLER CORP. RESEARCH FROM OTHER OWNERS STATES A VALVE OR VENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK IS THE ISSUE. PROBLEM PERSISTS WITH VEHICLE AS OF THE DATE OF THIS FILING. ANECDOTAL ACCOUNTS THAT A DEFECTIVE "ROLLOVER SHUT OFF VALVE" AT THE TOP OF THE TANK IS THE REAL PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY THIS IS EVEN A PART ON THE TANK ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION ISSUE ON MANY THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES - PLEASE HELP OWNERS OF THE MULTIPLE MODELS AND LINES OF VEHICLES WHICH ARE AFFECTED BY CHRYSLERS REFUSAL TO ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE OR VOLUNTARILY FIX THESE CARS! AFTER HAVING A VIBRATION IN THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF MY DODGE NITRO; I THEN CARRIED IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED AN INDUCTION SERVICE. I BEING TOTALLY DISPLEASED WITH THE RECOMMENDATION; I DECIDED TO SEEK SOME ASSISTANCE AT A LOCAL GARAGE AND AN INVESTIGATION WAS DONE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF THE MECHANIC DOING A FEW TEST AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE; IT WAS SAID THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A CHATTERING FEELING COMING FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN {AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION}. THE MECHANIC ALSO DID A GOOGLE SEARCH TO FIND THAT A LOT OF OTHER VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM!!! IT WAS ALSO RECORDED THAT THERE'S SOME ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONICS AND A FEW OTHER PARTS; YET DODGE IS SITTING BACK MAKING MONEY OFF THE CONSUMERS FOR THESE KNOWN DEFECTS IN THEIR VEHICLES. WHY??? ALSO IS IT JUST THE MANNER OF BUSINESS NOW TO BUILD VEHICLE TO BREAKDOWN ON AN ANNUAL BASIS??? SEE NBC NIGHTLINE NEWS INVESTIGATION ON DODGE DEALERSHIPS!!! PLEASE RESEARCH!!! EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK OF MY 2007 DODGE NITRO R/T, THE GAS BACK FLOWS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK OPENING ONCE THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKS AS THE TANK BECOMES FULL. THIS BACK FLOW POURS GAS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK, ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, ONTO THE GROUND AND, MOST TIMES, ON ME. I HAVE NOT APPROACHED DODGE ABOUT FIXING THIS ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT NOTICED THE GASOLINE SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING WHILE SHE ADDED FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL WOULD OVER FLOW AND NOT INDICATE WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED AND THE COST WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE BUT IF THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,990.
EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO FILL THE GAS TANK, THE PUMP DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL. GASOLINE OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE CAR'S FILL TUBE, DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. I AM NOT FORCING GAS INTO THE TANK. I AM ONLY ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK AS I HAVE DONE FOR MANY YEARS ON MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES. *TR
WHEN REFUELING, AFTER THE PUMP NOZZLE SHUTS OFF, THERE IS A BACK SPLASH OF GASOLINE FROM THE TANK FILLER TUBE. SUSPECT THE FUEL TANK ROLL OVER VALVE IS STUCK OPEN. THIS CREATES A FIRE HAZARD UPON REFUELING AND WOULD ALLOW FUEL LEAKAGE UPON ROLL OVER, THE EXACT EVENT THE VALVE IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT. THIS HAS BEEN CONSISTENT SINCE NOVEMBER 2010.
FAILURE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS ON DODGE NITRO. THE VALVE STEMS ON MY NITRO ARE FATIGUED AND ARE BREAKING APART. I HAVE HAD TWO REPLACED AND FEAR ONE OF THE ORIGINAL STEMS REMAINING WILL POSSIBLY BLOW WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED CAUSING A CRASH. *TR
I OWN A 2007 DODGE NITRO 3.7 V6. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR OVER THE LAST MONTH WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK IT WILL CLICK OFF AT THE NOZZLE BUT THEN I GET GAS SPEWING BACK OUT! SCARY AND A SAFETY HAZARD. I AM TOLD THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROLLOVER VALVE. THE VALVE IS DEFECTIVE, AND THUS THE GAS SPILLS OUT, AND THE CAR COULD POSSIBLY EXPLODE IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. AFTER FUELING UP THE VEHICLE, THE GAS TANK "BURPS" OUT ABOUT A GALLON AND A HALF OF GAS ALL OVER THE PERSON PUMPING GAS, THE TRUCK AND THE GROUND AROUND THE VEHICLE.
GAS FILLER PIPES SPIT OUT GAS WHEN FUELING RESULTING IN SPILLAGE ON VEHICLE, GROUND AND PERSON PUMPING GAS. *TR
I WAS TAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 5MPH. AT THE COMPLETION OF THE TURN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD TWISTED AND FALLEN OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE CASING ALONG THE TOP OF THE NITRO CRACKED, AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR HEADLINER AND WINDSHIELD. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE OR PARK INDICATING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL. UPON INSPECTION BY TWO SEPARATE BODY SHOPS (ONE BEING A DEALERSHIP) IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE SHAFT THAT RESULTED IN THE INCIDENT. AT THIS TIME THE WARRANTY IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE DRIVE SHAFT. *TR
WITH NORMAL USAGE BY TWO RESPONSIBLE ADULTS, AND NO CHILDREN, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE MADE OF PLASTIC, BROKE AS MY HUSBAND WAS TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE HAD REASONABLE SERVICE OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THERE ARE HOW EVER WAY TO MANY PLASTIC PARTS THAT HAVE BROKEN THROUGH NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. IF THE POWER SHOULD GO OUT ON THE VEHICLE WHERE THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO DOWN WE WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE, AND HEAVEN FORBID A FIRE SHOULD BREAK OUT. IT IS A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER YOUR RECALL PROGRAM AN REFITTED WITH HANDLES THAT WILL NOT BREAK WITH NORMAL USAGE. THE ISSUE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I OWN A 2007 DODGE NITRO 3.7 V6. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR OVER THE LAST YEAR WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK IT WILL CLICK OFF AT THE NOZZLE BUT THEN I GET GAS SPEWING BACK OUT! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT INDICATED THE FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER FILED REPORT 20696273, AND ADVISED HER TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALERS DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I AM HAVING MULTIPLE ISSUES. THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME I GET GAS, THE AIR CONDITIONER ONLY COOLS WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES PRODUCES HEAT INSTEAD, THE LOCKS DO NOT WORK 4 OUT OF 7 DAYS A WEEK, THE TPM SIGNAL COMES ON EVERY FEW DAYS EVEN THOUGH THE TIRES ARE FINE, AND THE WINDOWS DO NOT WORK ON OCCASION. ALTHOUGH THIS APPEARS TO ME THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL AND GAS TANK ISSUE, THERE ARE NOT ANY RECALLS ISSUED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I WILL NEED TO BRING IT BY WHEN THINGS ARE NOT WORKING IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DO ANY TYPE OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. I CONSIDER BOTH ELECTRICAL AND GAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE TO ADDRESS THIS CONCERN. I PURCHASED A '07 DODGE NITRO BACK IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR. RECENTLY IT BEGAN DOING A "SHUT OFF" WHILE GOING ABOUT 80 MPH, DID THAT TWICE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. THE NEXT DAY IT STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, EACH TIME IT HAS STARTED RIGHT BACK UP ON ITS OWN NO PROBLEM. LAST NIGHT I WENT TO GO PICK UP MY SON FROM CLASS GO TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND GOT NO RESPONSE, TRUCK WAS DEAD AS DEAD CAN GET. HAD MY HUSBAND JUMP IT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS MORNING IT WENT DEAD AGAIN WHILE I WAS WAITING IN A DRIVE-THRU LINE, HAD PEOPLE YELLING AT ME RATHER THEN ASKING IF I NEEDED HELP, FINALLY FLAGGED SOMEONE DOWN AND GOT A JUMP, AGAIN STARTED RIGHT UP NO PROBLEM. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR TIPM ON VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE JANUARY 23, 2007. MINE WAS BUILT IN NOVEMBER OF '06 BUT WHEN I CHECKED THE DODGE SITE AND ENTERED MY VIN AS IT INSTRUCTED IT ONLY PULLED UP THE WIPER RELAY RECALL. I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY ISSUE AND HOW I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON CERTAIN VEHICLES FOR THE TIPM CAUSING IT TO STALL OUT, THEY TOLD ME THERE NEVER WAS SUCH A RECALL AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT EVER HAPPENING. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT( IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY) AND PRINTED OUT THE RECALL TO SHOW THEM WHEN I GET THERE, UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T GET IN UNTIL THURSDAY WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO DRIVE SCARED OUT OF MY WITS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 25 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINED THE CONTACT FROM STRIKING THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WAS SPUN AROUND FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT AND ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT THEN RELEASED FROM THE LATCH, SENDING THE CONTACT INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WAS AWARE OF COMMON SEAT BELT FAILURE IN THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AS THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
WITH NORMAL USE THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE SNAPPED IN TWO. IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE DRIVERS DOOR, WITH THE KEY STILL IN THE IGNITION YOU MUST HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON, ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW, OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, ROLL THE WINDOW BACK UP AND THEN TURN OFF THE CAR. MY DOOR HANDLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD BUT I HAVE MORE THAN THE ALLOTTED MILES DUE TO MY LONG COMMUTE TO WORK. I WAS TOLD IT COST 75.00 FOR THE PART AND TWO HOURS OF LABOR AT $115.00 FOR A ESTIMATED TOTAL OF $300.00 TO REPLACE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. I FEEL THE PART IS POORLY MADE FOR ITS USE AND SHOULD HAVE NEVER SNAPPED OFF. I ALSO FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER CANNOT MAKE A QUICK ESCAPE OUT OF THE CAR WHEN THIS PART UNEXPECTEDLY SNAPS. I WAS ALSO SURPRISED WHEN CONTACTING THE DODGE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK, WHICH ALSO TELLS ME THEY MUST HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL TO KEEP THAT PARTICULAR PART IN STOCK. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS FRACTURED IN HALF AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE USING THE DOOR HANDLES. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO REACH OUTSIDE THE WINDOW TO OPEN THE DOOR USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. INTERMITTENTLY, THE WINDOWS WOULD ALSO FAIL AND WOULD NOT OPEN THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE SOMEONE OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE OR SHE WOULD CLIMB TO THE REAR SEAT IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HANDLES COULD BE REPLACED BUT AT HER EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.

THE BREAK IS IN THE SAME PLACE ON BOTH AND RESULTED IN THE PASSENGER AND THEN THE DRIVER UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE EXCEPT THRU THE BACK SEAT DOORS OR BY OPENING THE FRONT DOORS BY LOWERING THE WINDOW AND REACHING OUT TO THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. THIS IS A VERY BAD SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME FOR THE REASON THAT OUR 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER COULD NOT GET OUT OF OUR VEHICLE AS A NEW DRIVER. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH AT A COST OF OVER $100. THE PARTS PERSON THAT I WORKED WITH TO ORDER THE PART SAID THE PAST TIME HE HAS ORDERED THESE FOR OTHERS AND KEEPS THEM IN STOCK. I HAVE HAD MY LUGGAGE RACK/RAIL BAR REPLACED OVER TEN TIMES BY DODGE. THEY NOW SAY WARRANTY IS UP. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT WITH THE PART SEEING THE RACK I HAVE NEVER USED COMES LOOSE AND BREAKS FROM WIND SPEED. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED TO THE OWNERS AND THE DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO GUARANTEE THEIR WORK AND PARTS. *TR
