TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL DOOR LOCKS FAILED ON ALL DOORS, INCLUDING THE HATCHBACK DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. UPDATED 01/15/15*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED A BLOWN FUSE WAS REPLACED IN THE TIPM ONLY TO HAVE IT IMMEDIATELY FAIL AGAIN. THE DRIVERS FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BURNS TO HER HAND, ARM, AND LEGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE GWINNETT COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT NUMBER IS 10-058161. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
SPLASH BACK OF GAS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. RUNS DOWN SIDE OF VEHICLE AND ONTO GROUND SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN DODGE SHOULD ADDRESS. CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER [XXX] AND SENT ME TO DEALER TO HAVE MY 2007 NITRO CHECKED. DEALER FOUND GAS TANK CHECK VALVE STUCK CLOSED AND SEAL TORN. TO FIX PROBLEM FUEL TANK AND VALVE NEED TO BE REPLACED;$975. CALLED COMPANY BACK AND SINCE MY MILEAGE WAS 43,000 TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE A CO-PAY OF $450.NEEDLESS TO SAY I WASN'T HAPPY TO BE PAYING FOR A SAFETY ISSUE DODGE CLEARLY KNOWS ABOUT AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES.AFTER TELLING THIS TO MY DODGE CASE WORKER CHELSIE CS1123 SHE TOLD ME THEY WEREN'T CHANGING THEIR POLICY AND GAVE ME 30 DAYS. I HAD VEHICLE FIXED AND PAID CO-PAY. DODGE KNOWS THEY HAVE YOU OVER A BARREL AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TL-THE DRIVER OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. SHE COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE CALLED A TOWING COMPANY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A GARAGE. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACE A FUSED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THEIR HOME. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED IT WAS STILL AT THEIR HOME AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. VWB

2007 DODGE NITRO. EVERY TIME WE REFUEL THE NITRO GASOLINE OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE FILL LINE, LEAVING GAS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE DODGE NITRO AND ON THE GROUND. WE USED OTHER GAS STATIONS PUMP NOZZLES AND STILL THE SAME,GAS EVERYWHERE. IT DON'T MATTER HOW FAST OR HOW SLOW YOU FUEL IT STILL OVERFLOWS. *TR

COME OUTSIDE KEYS IN HAND AND MY TRUCK IS RUNNING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON ALL DISPLAYS ARE LIT UP AND NO THERE IS NOT AN AUTO START ON MY VEHICLE THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNTIL RECENTLY THAT THE TIPM MODULE IS THE PROBLEM UNTIL RECENTLY BECAUSE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF THE CODES DO NOT APPEAR AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE IT CAN TURN OFF MY LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING LOCK ME IN MY CAR MESS WITH MY HORN WIPERS STEERING CAUSE THIS IS THE BRAIN TO MY TRUCK BUT DUE TO ME BEING OUT OF WARRANTY NOW I AM EXSPRCTED TO PAY FOR OUT OF POCKET EVEN THOUGH IT STARTED UNDER WARRANTY. *TT
EVERYTIME THAT I FILL UP I HAVE TO WATCH FUEL GAUGE IS BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP DOES NOT POP WHEN IT IS FULL UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS. THIS CAUSES GAS TO GET ON THE GROUND AND ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. ON 2/22/10 I TOOK MY DODGE NITRO SLT IN FOR THE WINDSHIELD WASHER RECALL TO THE DEALERSHIP. EVERY SINCE THE WIPER WASHER (T.I.P.M) WAS REPLACED I'VE HAD THE MIL LIGHT COME ON THREE TIMES, STALLING AND THE PANIC ALARM GOING OFF WHEN I USE THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN THE NITRO ON THE ROAD TO RESET THE MIL LIGHT, INTERMITTENTLY THE PANIC ALARM STILL GOES OUT, THEY'RE REPLACED THE T.I.P.M ON 5/19/10; SUGGESTING THAT I GOT A BAD ONE A DAY LATER THE PANIC ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY IT STOPPED WAS TO DRIVE IT. *TR

ON MAY 12, 2010, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ITS PERIODIC OIL CHANGE. WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, I FOUND SMOKE ARISING FROM THE ENGINE, EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS SWITCHED OFF. SINCE THEN I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO INQUIRE ABOUT MY VEHICLE AND WHEN I COULD HAVE IT BACK. THEIR ANSWER HAS ALWAYS BEEN, 'WE NEED MORE TIME.' THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE WIRING. THE BRANCH MANAGER NEVER TAKES THE TELEPHONE. BUT, AFTER ALL THESE LOCAL REPAIR WORK, HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT A SIMILAR INCIDENT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE REASON WHY MY VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE JUST AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AND WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL OFF. IF THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. INCIDENTALLY, THE DEALER PROVIDED ME THE TEMPORARY USAGE OF A 2008 MODEL JEEP, IN WHICH I DISCOVERED TO MY HORROR THAT THE HAND-BRAKES WERE NOT EVEN FUNCTIONING. DURING THE LAST MAJOR SNOW STORM I NOTICED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A BRAKE FAILURE AFTER TALKING TO A COWORKER HE SAID THAT SOMETIMES A LOT OF SNOW CAN MESS WITH THE BRAKES. HIS EXPLANATION SEEMED LOGICAL. ON 4/17/10 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND STARTED COASTING TOWARDS TRAFFIC THAT JUST STARTED MOVING. MY APPROACH SPEED WAS A LITTLE FASTER BUT BY NO MEANS NOTHING THAT COULDN'T BE STOPPED. WHEN I WENT TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BREAKS DIDN'T WORK. I FELT LIKE I WAS STANDING ON THEM. I TRIED TO MAKE A CORRECTION MANEUVER TO NOT INJURE ANYONE BUT I COULDN'T WITHOUT GOING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.AND REARENDED SOMEONE. WHO IN INTURN REARENDED SOMEONE (4 CARS TOTAL BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS MOVING). ALL OF THE BRAKE RECALLS WERE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AT MY 36,000 MILE SERVICE. THIS WAS THE SAME FEELING I HAD DURING THE SNOW INCIDENT BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL YESTERDAY. I AM GLAD THAT EVERYONE IS ALRIGHT BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. *TR
I BOUGHT A DODGE NITRO 6 MONTHS AGO SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE WENT TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE NITROS TRANSMISSION WILL NOT PULL BUT JUST A FEW FEET, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. A LOCKSMITH WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE THE DOOR LOCKS DUE TO A PLASTIC COVER OVER THE CYLINDER. THE PLASTIC COVERING THAT COULD NOT BE REMOVED WAS A MANUFACTURERS DESIGN. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR CONNECTION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT BEFORE THE CYLINDER LOCK COULD BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS DISPLEASED TO KNOW THE LENGTHY PROCESS AND TIME FRAME INVOLVED WITH THE SERVICE REPAIR; HOWEVER, THERE WAS A KEY FOR THE IGNITION AND A REMOTE FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE VEHICLE DOORS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000.
INSIDE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE BROKE. HAD TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN TO EXIT VEHICLE. DISCOVERED THE PART WAS 100% PLASTIC. WOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN IN AN EMERGENCY EVACUATION. I REPAIRED BY ADDING A METAL CLASP TO THE PLASTIC. *TR

WHEN FILLING THE SUV WITH GAS. WHEN THE GAS AUTO-SHUTOFF CLICKS, GAS COMES ERUPTING OUT OF THE GAS TANK FILLER NECK. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE NITRO HAS BEEN HAVING STALLING ISSUES THE LAST TWO WEEKS. WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, IT HESITATES AND ALMOST CUTS OFF. THERE IS NO PATTERN AS TO WHEN IT HAPPENS; IT IS INCONSISTENT. YESTERDAY, AFTER I PICKED UP CARPOOL AT MY SON'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, I MADE A RIGHT TURN, AND THE CAR COMPLETELY CUT OFF WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP (I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES) AND RESTART THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD OR INTO AN INTERSECTION AS THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT WITH 2 SECOND GRADERS IN THE BACK SEAT. IT WILL BE HEADING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE OF THE FOUR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WERE FRACTURED AND IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, SHE WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB INTO THE BACK SEAT TO EXIT. THE FAILURE BEGAN ONE YEAR AGO WITH THE DRIVER SIDE FIRST AND THEN THE PASSENGER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE HER WITH ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOR THREE TIME AND NOW IT CAME UP WITH THE SAME THING AGAIN. ITS BEEN JUST TWO MONTHS FROM THE LAST TIME. THIS TIME WOULD BE THE FOURTH RIDE TO THE DEALER. I AM WASTING MY TIME!! THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF AT 25,000 MILES AND THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTROLS FOR THE WINDOWS AND LOCKS OPERATES AT ABOUT 25% FUNCTIONALITY.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V438000, VISIBILITY, WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN A RAIN STORM THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER WHEN HER WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING $155.63 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN PERFORMED IN FEBRUARY 2010. SHE STATED THAT THE DEALER PRESENTED HER WITH A RECALL LETTER THAT SHE DID NOT RECEIVE IN THE MAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

WHILE UNLOADING GROCERIES FROM THE REAR CARGO AREA OF MY 2007 DODGE NITRO, THE REAR TAIL-GATE (AKA "LIFTGATE") , FAILED TO STAY IN THE UP/OPEN POSITION AND CAME DOWN AT SUCH A RAPID SPEED THAT THE HEAVY LIFTGATE COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL INJURIES TO ANY SMALL CHILD OR ADULT IN THE AREA OF THE LIFTGATE VIA TRAUMA SUSTAINED TO THE HEAD, NECK, BACK, OR EXTREMITIES. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE ON LEVEL CONCRETE, WITH NO WIND/WEATHER INVOLVED WHEN THIS MALFUNCTION WITH THE LIFTGATE LIFTERS (2) OCCURRED. THE LIFTGATE LIFTERS (2) HAVE NOT HELD UP THE REAR LIFTGATE SINCE THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT OF BOTH LIFTERS. I HAVE A 2007 DODGE NITRO SLT 4 X 4 AND EVERYTIME I FILL IT WITH GAS, THE GAS PUMP CLICKS AND THEN GAS COMES SHOOTING OUT AND RUNS ALL DOWN MY CAR. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN MID JANUARY 2010 AND IT HAS HAPPENED EVERYTIME I FILL MY TANK.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL CHECK VALVE WITHIN THE FUEL TANK WAS NOT CLOSING WHEN THE TANK BECAME FULL. THIS CAUSED THE FUEL TO SPILL BACK OUT BECAUSE WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL WHEN IT WAS NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE HIS VEHICLE HAD TOO MANY MILES ON IT. THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
SPLASH BACK OF GASOLINE WHEN FILLING UP FUEL TANK. INCIDENT OCCURS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SHOOTS BACK OUT OF THE FILLING NOZZLE ALL OVER THE PAINTED SURFACE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON TO THE SURFACE OF THE AREA IN WHICH PARKED. IN ADDITION TO AGGRAVATION, ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE, PAINT DAMAGE, THERE ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES THAT COULD OCCUR IF SOME SORT OF AN IGNITION SOURCE OCCURRED AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. CONTROLLING THE FLOW/SPEED OF GASOLINE FROM THE GAS PUMP THROUGH THE NOZZLE INTO THE TANK FILLER TUBE DOES NOT LESSEN THE PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING INTO SOME DODGE NITRO FORUMS I REALIZED THAT THIS IS A VEHICLE PROBLEM RELATED TO A FUEL TANK ROLL OVER VALVE STUCK OPEN WHICH COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WHEN FUELING THE CAR, THE AUTO SHUTOFF DOES NOT WORK AND FUEL SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK. THIS IS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A VALVE IN THE GAS TANK THAT IS THERE TO PREVENT AN EXPLOSION IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. THE VALVE IS DEFECTIVE, AND THUS THE GAS SPILLS OUT, AND THE CAR COULD POSSIBLY EXPLODE IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND ALL THEY WOULD DO IS CLEAN OUT THE FILTER. THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TT
