BACK BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT CONTINUOUSLY. I HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. LIGHTS ARE STILL GOING OUT BUT NOW MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS OVER. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BEFORE THEY COULD FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE IT IS A DOCUMENTED PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST YEAR I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2007 AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. MY REAR WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING, HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED WHICH I FOUND ODD BECAUSE I HARDLY USED THE BACK WINDOWS. DRIVER'S SIDE HANDLE HAS SNAPPED IN HALF. THIS MAKES FOR A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CANNOT GET OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW AND THEN UNLOCKING MYSELF THEN ROLL UP THE WINDOW BEFORE TURNING OFF MY CAR. ALSO, THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL HAS SNAPPED OFF AS WELL FOR CONTROLLING THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. I'M CONCERNED I WILL BE TRAPPED IN MY VEHICLE IF I CONTINUE TO LOSE POWER FUNCTIONS TO THE CAR. HEATING UNIT WORKS SPORADICALLY. TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC HE FIXED IT. IT WORKED TEMPORARILY AND THEN STOPPED. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND ONCE AGAIN WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST; WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE IF THIS WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS NOT. *TR
STOPPED FOR GAS, AFTER FILLING UP VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. NO LIGHTS, NO SOUND OF ANY KIND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN.THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DODGE DEALER WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE STARTER BUT I'M SURE IT WAS THE TOTAL POWER INTERFACE MODULE.
MY 07 DODGE NITRO RT HAS ALWAYS HAD AN ISSUE WHILE FILLING UP, IT DOESN'T STOP LIKE OTHER VEHICLES AND JUST OVER FLOWS SPLASHING GAS ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND FLOOR. MY FIX FOR THIS WAS JUST TO NOT FULLY FILL THE TANK. THE OTHER ISSUE I'VE HAD FOR THE BETTER PART OF A YEAR IS THAT I'VE HAD A "GAS CAP" ERROR LIGHT THAT AFTER REPLACING SAID GAS CAP AND A TRIP TO PEPBOYS TURNED OUT IT WAS A SMALL EVAP LEAK CAUSED BY A FAULTY GAS TANK/INNARDS COMMON IN OLDER NITROS, IN MY EXPERIENCE THIS ALSO CAUSES A HARD START. I THINK THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING ISSUE IN THE GAS TANK AND WOULD LIKE SOME GUIDENCE ON A RESOLVE. THANK YOU
2-3 TIMES A WEEK MY CAR'S ELECTRICAL JUST SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. A/C EVERYTHING. IT STARTED WITH JUST THE TPM GAUGE GOING OFF SAYING IT WAS A FLAT BUT HAS NOW ESCALATED TO ALL THE ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN APRIL 2008 EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN 2007 MODEL , I HAVE TAKEN IT ABOUT 3 TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP, NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD WITNESSES IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED. I AM WORRIED THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT IS A DISTRACTION AND ALSO I FEEL THIS COULD LEAD TO THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTING OFF. PLEASE HELP *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS CONTINUOUSLY. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS, THE ENTIRE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. SHE HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT THEY ARE NOT ASSISTING AND WILL NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES, BUT THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE RECALL NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,500.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOP WORKING TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY REPROGRAMMED A COMPUTER BUT ALSO SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T GET THEM TO STOP I DON'T THINK ITS FIXED. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE NITRO HAS HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE DOOR LOCKS ARE OFTEN INOPERABLE, THE WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN WHEN DRIVING, THE RADIO IS OFTEN ON WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, AND THE BACK GATE PERIODICALLY WILL NOT OPEN. LASTLY, WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS UP TO 55 MPH THE ENGINE CUTS OFF CREATING A STALL WHILE IN ADDITION ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (HAZARDS, LOCKS, ETC.) DO NOT FUNCTION AT ALL. *TR
EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD, ON HILLS DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF PARKING. VEHICLE ROLLS. DEALER CANNOT FIX IT, CHECKED 4 OTHER MODELS, THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4. WHEN THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE FUEL TANK, GASOLINE WOULD SPEW BACK OUT OF THE TANK. SHE ALSO SMELLED POTENT GASOLINE FUMES INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD MONITOR THE ISSUE. AS TIME PROGRESSED, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURES. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. HE HAS SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND VIDEO THAT DEMONSTRATES THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 44,000.
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START HAD TO BE TOWED IN AND IT TOOK 2 DAYS TO GET THE PART. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A CHATTERING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND BOTH WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. BOTH DEALERS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AS WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,149.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN BECOME HESITANT, STALL AND RESTART INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND BOTH ADVISED HER THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL OF THE DOOR HANDLES. ALL OF THE DOOR HANDLES EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE WERE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE WINDOWS WOULD ONLY OPERATE PARTIALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN AND CLOSE THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WITH THE HEATER SETTINGS ON THE HIGH AND LOW SELECTIONS, THE AIR THAT CAME FROM THE FLOOR VENTS PRODUCED A LOT OF COLD AIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS WARM AIR COMING FROM THE VENTS ABOVE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS WITH THE DEALER FOR THREE DAYS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURE. THE SECOND TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT 100% REPAIRED, AND THE FOAM PLACED UNDER THE CONSOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE CUT DOWN ON SOME OF THE COLD AIR COMING FROM THE VENTS. A CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOTIFIED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 2, 2008, BUT IT WAS RESCHEDULED FOR APRIL 3, 2008. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,852 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. UPDATED 04/29/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE HEATING SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. UPDATED
I OWN A 2007 DODGE NITRO. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM CORTEZ, CO IN SEPTEMBER 2007. WITHIN A WEEK OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, I NOTICED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WAS PARKED ON A SMALL INCLINE, PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES UNTIL WE WERE READY TO GO AGAIN. I HAVE TO DO THIS IN OTHER SITUATIONS OR JUST SHUT THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND IT WAS RECENT, PERHAPS WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. AGAIN, THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE FAILING. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BECAUSE OF THIS BECAUSE AS BEFORE THEY WOULD SAY I HAVE TO BRING IT IN AND GET REPAIRS AT MY COST. THEIR EXPLANATION THE FIRST TIME A WEEK AFTER I GOT THIS VEHICLE WAS, " NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR." THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 50 MILES ON IT. *TR
- VEHICLE DELAY WHEN PULLING OUT OR BACKING UP, THEN WITH OUT NOTICE SURGE. - DRIVING UP LARGE HILL, COMING UP ON TRACTOR AND TRAILER AHEAD, DOING 45 MPH, LEFT OFF GAS SLIGHTLY TO ADJUST SPEED WENT TO RESUME SPEED THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, NO POWER, LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON DASH AND ENGINE HAD NOT CUT OUT. TWO TO THREE SECONDS LATER, ENGINE/VEHICLE REGAINED POWER. -PULLING OUT OF DRIVE WAY, ON A INCLINE AND ACCELERATING, THEN LEFT OFF GAS TO LEVEL SPEED BEFORE A BEND. VEHICLE THROTTLE DID NOT RESPOND AND CONTINUED AT SPEED. APPLIED BRAKES, " BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND". DROVE VEHICLE INTO SOMEONE'S YARD, AND SHUT ENGINE DOWN. - DRIVING A CONGESTED STREET IN A TOWN, NO MORE THAN 25 MPH, BETWEEN STOP SIGNS. VEHICLE CONTINUED AT SPEED WHEN LEFT OFF GAS, BRAKES DID WORK. LEFT AMPLE ROOM TO STOP, BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE. *TR
DODGE NITRO R/T PACKAGE (SPORT SUSPENSION AND 20 INCH TIRE/RIM). POOR HIGHWAY HANDLING ON BUMPS AT BRIDGE AND ROAD JOINT IF SPEEDS ARE GREATER THAN 60MPH; YOU WILL NOTICE LOSS OF GRIP AND MAY RESULT IN ROLL-OVER OR CRASH. HANDLING IS WORST WHEN ITS SLIPPERY OR WET CONDITIONS. I SLOW DOWN ON ALL BRIDGES IN GEORGIA AND OHIO. I NOTICE THIS ISSUE WHEN DRIVE IN 2008-2009 PUTTING 7500 MI PER YEAR. *TR
EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD AUTOMOBILE. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE I NOTICED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ROLLING. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED TEMPORARILY BUT THE BRAKE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. I AGAIN COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE ORDERED THE PARTS. THREE MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE LAST COMPLAINT AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. SINCE I HAVE A STANDARD TRANSMISSION, AND OFTEN HAVE TO PARK ON SLOPES, THE BRAKE IS AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY FEATURE. ON MANY OCCASIONS I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE CAR AND PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH TO START THE CAR AND HAD THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGIN TO ROLL, EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE LEVER WAS FULLY ENGAGED. *TR
DECEMBER 12, 2007: I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND I DID NOT HAVE ANY HEADLIGHTS, ANY TURN SIGNALS, BACK WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS RUNNING AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF, NO HEATED SEAT, ETC. ETC. I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL DAYLIGHT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE EVER SINCE. IT HAS ONLY 4,000 MILES. THEY STATE IT THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. IT HAS BEEN 17 DAYS NOW AND STILL NO PARTS TO FIX MY VEHICLE. FROM READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON ELECTRICAL IN RELATION TO THIS VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM W/THE LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A POOR SYSTEM WHEN THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T GET PARTS FOR A NEW VEHICLE. *TR
HALF DOZEN TIMES THE RADIO IN MY 2007 DODGE NITRO HAS BEEN ON WELL AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN OFF...AFTER YOU OPEN THE DOOR IT STOPS...12/4/07 I WAS DRIVING AT 55MPH AND HAD THE RADIO ON, IT SHUTS OFF AND THE DASH LIGHTS ALL COME ON AND I HAVE TO POWER TO THE VEHICLE...SECONDS....EVERYTHING COMES IMMEDIATELY BACK ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BCP OF SMYRNA IN SMYRNA DE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. YOU CAN TELL THAT THEY WERE NOT BELIEVING ME. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO CHECK IT AND ALSO REPAIR THE RECALL FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THEY WERE TRYING TO RECREATE THE EVENTS! WHAT? THEY SAID NOTHING WAS HAPPENING TO THE VEHICLE AND NO CODES SHOWED UP. THEY TOLD ME THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS DO NOT RESTART THE NITRO ( I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T RESTART IT, IT CAME BACK UNDER POWER WITHOUT ME) SO THEY SAID WHEN IT DOES OCCUR AGAIN PULL OVER AND CALL THEM....WELL IF I AM DOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND GET RE ENDED I GIVE THEM A CALL FROM THE HOSPITAL. SINCE THEN I LOOKED UP ON THE INTERNET THAT THE NITRO HAS HAD A RECALL ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM...THE CAR DEALER SAID THAT ONLY ONE RECALL HAS TAKEN PLACE FOR THE 07 NITRO. HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY MODEL IS AFFECTED WITH THE RECALL...IT SEEMS VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT I HAD A SIMILAR MISHAP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE VEHICLE HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WAS SOLD WITH A NON-FUNCTIONING PARKING BRAKE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE DEFECT WHILE DRIVING OFF THE DEALER LOT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNSURE OF WHEN THE REPLACEMENT WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 537 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 267. 2007 DODGE NITRO WITH SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND HAS STALLED DUE TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THEY WANT A FULL REFUND FOR THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST VOLTAGE. THE INSTRUMENTS DROPPED DOWN UNREASONABLY ONCE THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED DYING OUT. THE GEAR SHIFT HAD TO BE WIGGLED TO GET IT TO MOVE, THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE WHILE GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER AN INTERNAL SHORT HAD OCCURRED WITH THE 12 VOLT BATTERY. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE STEERING WOULD DRIFT, THERE WAS ABNORMAL TRACTION AND THE DOORS WOULD LOCK UP. THE ABS WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT WHILE DRIVING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIPS WERE USING 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SOFTWARE TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEMS WITH HIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT SEND THE SPECIFIC SOFTWARE TO UPDATE HIS VEHICLE.*JB THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO A SETTLEMENT RATHER THAN CONTINUING THE ARBITRATION PROCESS. UPDATED 05/20/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH UPHILL, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NORMAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. A WEEK BEFORE THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V493000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTI-LOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,470. UPDATED 03/10/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND 10 MINUTES LATER, THE COSUMER WAS TOLD A COMPUTER SOFTWARE PROGRAM WAS DOWNLOADED AND THE VEHICLE WAS READY. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCIDENT WAS A RESULT OF THE RECALL.

APPROXIMATELY THREE OR FOUR SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON ITS OWN. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V291000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,900.
WE PURCHASED A 2007 DODGE NITRO SLT 4X4 FROM BERGER FAMILY DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY OF 2007. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. IN SPRING 2007 MY WIFE NOTICED WHEN GOING UP A STEEP HILL AT A SLOW SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH), COASTING TO THE TOP OF THE HILL TO A STOP SIGN, WHEN SHE APPLIES HER BRAKE PEDAL, THERE IS NO BRAKING. NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG, AND DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SOMETIMES CAN HAPPEN ONCE OR TWICE PER WEEK, OR MAY HAPPEN ONCE IN 2-3 WEEKS. ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS LATER WIFE NOTICED WHEN BACKING DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY WHICH IS STEEP, THE SAME ISSUE WITH BRAKING. WE MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. STILL UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, OR FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IN SEPTEMBER 2007, A LOCAL NEWSPAPER ADVISED OF THIS PROBLEM. WE CONTACTED THE NHTSA AND CHRYSLER, AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT A RECALL OF REPROGRAMMING SOME BRAKING MODULE WILL BE OUT BY THE END OF THE MONTH. IT IS OCTOBER 23, NO RECALL YET. I LOOKED ON YOUR WEBSITE AND CHRYSLER HAS THIS LABELED AS A "G40" RECALL, TO START IN OCTOBER. TODAY I TELEPHONED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY NO NOTHING ABOUT THIS RECALL, IN FACT THEY LOOKED IN THEIR CHRYSLER COMPUTER SYSTEM, AND IT IS NOT EVEN LISTED. I FEEL THIS IS UNCALLED FOR AS MY WIFE IS PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE FILED WITH NHTSA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE FIRST IN JUNE 2007 WAS SUBMITTED AFTER AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY ENGINE STALLING ISSUES. THE DODGE DEALER HONORED THE RECALL AND I WAS RETURNED THE REPAIRED VEHICLE WITH THE ASSURANCE THE STALLING ISSUE WAS REMEDIED. ON AUGUST 17, 2007 AT 5:10 PM I WAS TRAVELING AT FULL SPEED ON THE FREEWAY AND I LOST ALL POWER (SAME AS THE PREVIOUS 5 TIMES). I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, AND TURNED THE IGNITION, IT STARTED AND I CONTINUED ON MY WAY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. DIDN'T CHRYSLER SAY THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED WITH THE RECALL? I BOUGHT THE 2007 DODGE NITRO IN NOVEMBER 2006. I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. BRAKES MADE A HORRIBLE SQUEAKING NOISE, PASSENGER WINDOW ROLLED DOWN, BUT NOT UP INTERMITTENTLY, VERY CHEAP INTERIOR, THESE WERE ALL SMALL PROBLEMS . BUT, 8 TIMES NOW HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 AND 70 MPH AND THE VEHICLE HAD SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE COASTED SOME WHERE BETWEEN 10 AND 30 SECONDS AND THEN CAME BACK ON. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT OFF, INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK TO DEALER, THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL JUST THAT DAY SO THEY APPARENTLY PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIRS AND GAVE THE CAR BACK. A FEW DAYS LATER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THEY WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE THE CAR BACK TO US BECAUSE THEY CONSIDERED IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED PROBABLY THREE TIMES. THE BEGINNING OF JULY WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEY MIRACULOUSLY THAT MORNING RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I GUESS THE FIRST ONE DIDN'T WORK SO THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT AND 5 DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. MY HUSBAND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER ,AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE KNEW OF US BY FIRST NAME AT THIS POINT. SAW HIM DRIVING IN AND RAN TO THE VEHICLE TELLING MY HUSBAND THAT THERE WAS NOW A RECALL ON THE LAST RECALL!!! I HAVE TWO CHILDREN, THE YOUNGEST BEING 16 MONTHS. AND THE OLDEST TWELVE. I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ALONE LET ALONE WITH MY CHILDREN. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD MY HUSBAND TODAY THAT WE SHOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER TO BEGIN THE BUY BACK PROCEDURE. I DID CONTACT THEM ,AND THEY COULD TAKE ALL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE AND START THE REVIEW PROCESS. I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYONE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS TO CONTACT CHRYSLER AND MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE. DON'T LET YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN LIVES BECOME ENDANGERED.
