I TOOK MY 2007 DODGE NITRO TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST CONDUCTED AND IT WAS NOTED THAT THE CAUSE OF MY AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPERATE BECAUSE OF SOMETHING RELATED TO THETIMP MODULE.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE OVERHEATS, BUT NOT WHILE STATIONARY, MULTIPLE DASH/ENGINE/LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF. AIR CONDITIONER STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR, HAD SERVICED- BATTERY GOOD-REPORTED BAD ALTERNATOR -- REPLACED $289. FAN LOCKED UP BREAKING BELT--REPLACED $30. THEN MOD #2 TESTED BAD-- REPLACED $450. THIS ALL STARTED APPROX. 2 WEEKS AGO MID JULY 2016, AND 2007 DODGE NITRO CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT, AND AIR CONDITIONER CONTINUES TO BLOW HOT AIR. A/C COOLANT TESTED FINE, BUT NOT MAKING COLD AIR INTO CABIN OF SUV. MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING.
WIPERS WILL NOT SPRAY FLUID.
WHEN PARKED, THE 3 PASSENGER DOORS AND HATCH WILL LOCK BUT NOT UNLOCK. THE ONLY DOOR THAT WORKS PROPERLY (MOST OF THE TIME) IS THE DRIVERS DOOR. CAN'T USE THE KEY ALONE TO UNLOCK DOORS BECAUSE THERE IS NO KEYHOLE EXCEPT THE DRIVERS DOOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE IN PARK, THE REAR AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLES FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,750.
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR DOOR LOCKS ALONG WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. WE TOOK IT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP AND PAID $150 TO GET IT DIAGNOSED. WE WERE TOLD THE TIPM MODULE IS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. THE COST WOULD BE $965.90, WHEN DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY DODGE NITRO OWNERS HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE IF NOT WORSE THAN WHAT WE ARE HAVING. THIS IS THE MAIN COMMAND CENTER FOR ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS THAT WHEN NOT PROPERLY WORKING IS AN EXTREME DANGER TO THE PASSENGERS. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP US. SO YOU MAKE A PART IN A CAR THAT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO ITS PASSENGERS AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME? WITH THIS MODULE BEING OUT YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF RIDING A BIKE TO WORK THAN DRIVING IN THIS VEHICLE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS AND REAR HATCH WOULD NOT UNLOCK UNLESS THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,100.
MY CAR LOST ALL POWER. IT WOULD NOT START OR ROLL UP THE WINDOWS BUT AT TIMES IT WOULD BLOW THE HORN AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD TURN ON BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. THIS WAS AFTER I DROVE IT HOME AND TURNED IT OFF. ALSO THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CHARGED ME $1200 TO REPLACE MY TIPM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIPERS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY, THE HORN SOUNDED INDEPENDENTLY, AND HEADLIGHTS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN REMAINED ON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE RADIO ALSO TURNED ON INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE TIPM AND THE POWER CONTROL MODULES WERE REPLACED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE TURN SIGNALS WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR RECALL REGARDING THE WIPER MOTOR AND WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
ELECTRONIC WINDOW SWITCH KEEPS GOING OUT, AND THE TIPM LIGHT KEEPS COMIING ON. WHEN I DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THE TIPM LIGHT STAYS ON DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS, I THOUHGT IT MEANT MY TIRES, SO I PURCHASED NEW TIRES, STILL COMES ON AND NOW MY WINDOW WANT ROLL UP BECAUSE OF THIS MODULE

LOWER TRACK BAR REAR IS A BOX TUBE WITH WELDED EYELET AT EACH END . THEY RUST AND BREAK AND CAN FALL DOWN TO ROAD SURFACE WHICH COULD CASE ACCIDENTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE APPROPRIATELY. THE POWER LOCKS HAD TO BE MANUALLY ACTIVATED BECAUSE THEY WERE NO LONGER AUTOMATIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICITY STILL FLOWED TO THE MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE IT WILL JUST SHUT OFF. NO LIGHTS ON DASH OR WARNING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU HAVE NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. AFTER GETTING IT STOPPED AND RESTARTING IT WILL DRIVE FINE. OTHER TIMES THE REMOTE WILL NOT WORK THE LOCKS, IT WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEM SELVES AFTER YOU OPEN THE DOOR AND TRY TO START VEHICLE . YOU CAN PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WILL NOT START LIGHTS ON DASH WILL GO OFF AND ON AND AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT WILL START. THERE ARE TIMES YOU CAN NOT PUT IN IN PARK YOU CAN SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART IT PRESS BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTHING WORKS TO PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN IT WILL JUST GO IN PARK LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. ALL OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN UP ON OCCASIONS WITH NO WARNING. IT ALL WILL WORK FINE FOR WEEKS OR MONTHS AND THEN IT WILL ACT UP AGAIN. THE HEATER DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR ON ONE SIDE, EVERY YEAR YOU CAN FLUSH OUT HEATER HOSE AND RADIATOR AND IT WILL BLOW HOT AIR FOR A MONTH OR SO AND THEN IT WILL GO BACK TO ONLY BLOWING WARM AIR OUT ON ONE SIDE. NO CODES ARE EVER THROWN WHEN THE THINGS HAPPEN. THERE IS NEVER A WARNING AND WHEN YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP OR A MECHANIC THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.
TAKATA RECALL- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT MY HOME WHEN I USE MY KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS IT TURN THE LIGHTS ON IN MY DASH AND SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, BUT THE DOORS IS STILL LOCK. THEN ONCE I GET INSIDE MY ENGINE LIGHTS STAYS ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILED TO RELEASE AFTER IT WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
BREAKS HAVE GONE OUT TWICE NOW AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS BECAUSE OF ME RUNNING WITH MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. NOT TRUE AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL BREAKING SYSTEM. CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK WHILE ON HWY TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY SAID IT WORKS. I HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH WINDOW MOTORS AND WIPERS ALONG WITH CRUISE CONTROL

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE'S MASTER SWITCH WOULD NOT OPERATE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,378.

BUYING A USED 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4 R/T HAD IT A YEAR AND A HALF WITH 84,000 MILS ON IT STARTED IT UP ONE MORNING TO GO GET AN OIL CHANGE STOPPING AT MAIL BOX FIRST ABOUT 20 FEET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE TURNED OFF TRUCK GOT MAIL RETURNED TO TRUCK WOULD NOT START TOW IT TO DEALER SAID MY ENGINE WAS BAD NEED TO BE REPLACED SO IT COST ME $7,900 TO REPLACE , THE TIRES HAVE ALL WAYS NEVER KEEPS IT AIR
TRUCK HESITATING TO START ON & OFF - CONSULTED WITH CHRYSLER JEEP MECHANIC WHO I SHOWED HIM A VIDEO OF WHAT I CAPTURED WHEN MY TRUCK WOULDN'T START RIGHT AWAY, ADVISED ME THAT IT DIDN'T SOUND OR LOOK LIKE THE IGNITION, THAT IT POSSIBLY WAS THE "EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY AND HARNESS". TRUCK WAS LEFT AT DEALER FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO ALLOW THEM TIME TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE WHAT MAY HAVE BEEN GOING ON. BECAUSE OF THE QUOTED PRICE [$435], I SUGGESTED TO HER THAT I WOULD HAVE MY PERSONAL MECHANIC REPAIR IT AND WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE THE ACTUAL HARNESS KIT WHICH ONLY COST $32.92. PART COULD NOT BE PURCHASED BECAUSE IT WAS FLAGGED AS AN "RECALL". NATASHA CHECKED W/MIKE TO CONFIRM THIS INFO, DROP OFF DATE WAS SET - ASKED HER - THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE, CORRECT, SINCE THIS IS AN RECALL PART? SHE SAID NO, THERE WOULDN'T, THAT'S CORRECT. SERVICE TECH KENNEY HANDED ME A INVOICE FOR $415 STATING THERE WAS A CHARGE - WHICH I TOTALLY DISAGREED. ONCE NATASHA ARRIVED, WE DISCUSSED THIS MATTER IN TOTAL DISAGREEMENT SINCE I WAS UNDER THE UNDERSTANDING THIS WAS A "RECALL" PART AND WASN'T EXPECTING TO PAY AS PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED. LATER THAT DAY BEFORE RETURNING TO PICK MY TRUCK UP, I CONTACTED THE DODGE HEADQUARTERS & SPOKE WITH CAITLIN. SHE STATED BECAUSE MY TRUCK DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECALLS ON IT, THIS PART DID NOT QUALIFY & IF IT DID, I WOULD'VE BEEN CONTACTED. I TOLD HER I TOTALLY DISAGREED SINCE I ONLY FOUND OUT DURING OUR DISCUSSION THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY TRUCK FOR THE GAS TANK - AND I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACT BY MAIL OR PHONE FOR THAT ISSUE. CHRYSLER DEALER SERVICES DODGE & JEEP VEHICLES & THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I CAN GET THIS PART WHICH HAS BEEN CONSIDERED A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE RECALL PART AND BECAUSE I DON'T OWN A CHRYSLER, MY TRUCK DOESN'T QUALIFY, BUT I'M FORCED TO PAY FOR A RECALLED PART?
MY TRUCK HONKS RANDOMLY BEEN DEALING WIH IT FOR 1-2 YEARS.. IT HONKS WHEN ITS OFF OR WHEN IM DRIVING ITS VERY SCARY AS A FEMALE HAVING TO DRIVE IT LIKE THIS. I HAD TIPM REPLACED AND STILL HAVING ISSUED I REMOVED THE FUSE FOR HORN BUT AFTE A YEAR MY BATTERY STARTED TO DIE AND I HEAR A SOUND COMING FROM FUSE BOX(TIPM) NOT SURE WHATS THE PROBLEM BUT I HAVE READ MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES... RECALL FOR SAFETY,.
BATTERY DIES OVERNIGHT WHEN CAR IS IDLE. IT STARTS WITH A JUMP START AND IS FINE DURING THE DAY. I FOUND THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS ARE COMING ON AT NIGHT DRAINING THE BATTERY. I ALSO HEAR TICKING & WEIRD NOISES FROM THE FUEL BOX UNDER THE HOOD. A/C DOES NOT WORK, HORN DOES NOT WORK & I AM WASHER FLUID DOES NOT COME OUT WHEN TRYING TO CLEAN WINDOWS! HAZARD LIGHTS FLASH & THE ALARM GOES OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. TOOK IT TO A DEALER WHO SAID HE RECEIVED ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT CODES WHEN RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS & THAT THE DEALER NEEDS TO FLASH THE PCM.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
NO MORE THAN 200 FT FROM MY DRIVEWAY MY 2007 DODGE NITRO HORN JUST WENT OFF BY ITSELF FOR 15-20 MINUTES UNABLE TO GO IN GEAR OR TURN OFF TRUCK AFTER REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLES IT STILL RAN ON ITS OWN WITH NO BATTERY CABLES CONNECTED OR KEY IN IGNITION. NOT WILL NOT CRANK AT ALL OR TURN ON BUT ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, AND WINDOWS WORK. HAPPENED CHRISMAS DAY AND NOW WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR ME AND MY WIFE AS IT GETS COLDER EVERYDAY. I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP FAST, I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING ONLINE AND MANY CAUSES THAT SEEM TO BE PREVALENT ARE THE SKREEM OR SENTRY KEY REMOTE ENTRY MODULE OR WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE ON MY MODEL OF VEHICLE AND YEAR OF 2007 CAN THIS BE FIXED.WHAT A GREAT WAY TO SPEND CHRISTMAS STRANDED IN A PARING LOT, IF YOU CAN ASSIST WITH HELP I WOULD BE APPRECIEATED MORE THAN YOU KNOW.
I STOPPED AND PULLED OVER TO MOVE MY SEAT ANDTRUCK SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, WIPERS, HORN AND LIGHTS GOING HAYWIRE FOR 15-20 MINUTES REMOVED THE BATTERY CABLES TRUCK KEPT RUNNING AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION STILL KEPT RUNNING, I PROCEDED TO DRIVE TO A GAS STATION FOR HELP BY A MECHANIC AND STOPPED IN A VACANT LOT AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED MAKING NOISE. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TRIED TO START IT AND NOTHING NO CRANK OVER OR START, SO I HAVE BEEN STRANDED SINCE CHRISTMAS DAY ON THE ROAD AND NOW WITH NO VEHICLE.
ELECTRICAL INVOLVING THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN AND THE SYSTEM GOING HAYWIRE AND OFFLINE PUTTING YOU AT RISK, ALARM, HORN, WIPERS, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND ENGINE RUNNING BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND WILL NOT CRANK OVER AS PART OF THE TIPM MAKING IT UNABLE TO START. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007 DODGE NITRO PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE THAT MANY ARE UNAWARE OF, LIKE ME IF YOU ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, NOT SAFE AT ALL COULD LEAVE YOU STRANDED AS I WAS LEFT STRANDED CHRISTMAS DAY AND NOW WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. I REALLY HOPE THEY CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AT THE DEALER
THE CAR WITH LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS BY ITSELF AND FLASH LIGHTS ON AND OFF, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE INOPERABLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS DURING DRIVING AND WHEN PARKING. WE WERE ALREADY TOLD THE CONTROLMODULE NEEDS REPLACING BUT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A 4X4 IT IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID FOR THE FRONT WINDOW DO NOT WORK. THESE ARE ON THE SAME FUSE M38 IN THE TIPM. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND IT IS MY OPINION THAT IT IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT AN IMMEDIATE THREAT, WHEN IT SNOWS AND THE SALT BUILDS UP ON THE WINDSHIELD AND YOU CAN'T SEE, IT IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR YOU AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU AS A PEDESTRIAN AND IN A CAR. EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK THE PUMP AT THE GAS STATION SHUTS OFF BUT I HAVE FUEL THAT BURPS BACK OUT. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THESE CARS IS THAT THERE IS A FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE GAS TANK TO PREVENT FIRES/EXPLOSIONS IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT THAT IS DEFECTIVE. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS CAUSES ME CONCERN FOR MY AND OTHERS SAFTEY. I WOULD LIKE CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET AS THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS.

SOMETIMES IT ONLY MAKES THE CLICKING LOUDER, ALONG WITH RANDOM OTHER EVENTS LISTED ABOVE. SOMETIMES THE ONLY THING THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM IS A THUMP WITH A SMALL RUBBER MALLET TO THE BLACK BOX JUST TO THE REAR OF THE MAIN 12 VOLT BATTERY. THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE LIKELY TO HAPPEN IN COLDER WEATHER, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO HAPPENING DURING COLD WEATHER. SOMETIMES, JUST UNLOCKING THE CAR DOORS WITH THE DODGE KEY FOB WILL CAUSE SOME ISSUES TO HAPPEN. SOMETIMES THE ISSUES ARE FOLLOWED UP WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, BUT WHEN CODES ARE PULLED THEY ARE INVALID CODES (CODES CHECKED AT DEALER).

I THEN NOTICED THAT I COULD SLOWLY STOP WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN. AFTER PARKING AND DOING MY SHOPPING I RETURNED TO THE CAR IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE WAS BACK TO NORMAL. AFTER SHOPPING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES I GET IN THE CAR AND GET READY TO LEAVE AND BEHOLD! THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS BACK TO NORMAL. DURING THE TIME THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING POORLY I WAS NOTICING THE SYMPTOMS OF THE BRAKE. WHEN I FIRST STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WILL GO DOWN ALMOST ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH A LITTLE EFFORT THEN AT THAT POINT THE BRAKES WILL WORK GOOD.
