TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION THAT OCCURRED UNDER THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ELEVATED WITH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. IN ADDITION, SMOKE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND FLAMES APPEARED UNDERNEATH. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO RELEASE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE LEFT ARM, BACK, AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE REAR PASSENGERS ALSO SUSTAINED BRUISES AND NECK INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V121000 (AIR BAGS, POWER TRAIN, STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I OWN A 2007 DODGE NITRO. I RECALL WAS SENT OUT FOR THESE VEHICLES BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED. MY CAR IS DISPLAYING STALLED ENGINE DEFECTS. THE TIPM IS FAULTY. MANY CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME COMPLAINTS AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THE PART FOR THE VEHICLE IS ON BACK ORDER. THANKS.

WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON AND OFF AS NOT BEEN IN WRECK COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND JUST SEATING AT A STOP DOES NOT STAY ON FOR MORE THAN A MIN ARE SO THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY KIDS FOR IT MAY NOT WORK IF WE ARE IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT MAY JUST GO OFF AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND TAKEN CARE OF BY DODGE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED
I HAVE A 2007 DODGE NITRO WITH MILAGE AT 48,545. I HAVE HAD A FEW INCIDENTS WHERE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AND WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE MY CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON ME OUT OF NO WHERE ALSO MY STEARING WHEELS LOCKS UP ON ME, THANKFULLY THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE I HAVE BEEN ON FREEWAY OR ON STREET DRIVING AT REGULAR DRIVING SPEEDS OTHERWISE YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN HEARING FROM MY ATTORNEY. ALSO WE DONT GET MUCH RAIN IN CALIFORNIA, HOWEVER DURING THE RAINY SEASON I DONT KNOW FROM WHERE BUT THERE IS WATER GETTING INTO MY CAR ON D, LEAVING PUDDLES OF WATER IN MY CAR. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT MY ALARM GOES OFF AT ALL TIMES OF THE DAY BY ITSELF. ALSO I DO REGULAR OIL CHANGES AS NEEDED ON MY CAR,IN BETWEEN OIL CHNAGES I NOTICE MY OIL GOES DOWN SUBSTANTUALLY BOUT 3 TO 4 QUARTS, AND THERE IS NO LEAK IN MY CAR. THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THE VEHCILE I PURCHAED IS A LEMON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ON OR ABOUT 6:51 AM. 7/20 /2015 I STARTED TO GO TO WORK, AND REALIZE IT JUST FINISH RAINING. WIND HAD STARTED TO MOVE THE TREE'S NEAR ME. AND DROP QUIET A BIT OF WATER ON MY WIND SHIELD. SO I RESPONDED BY TURNING THE WIPER'S ON AND TO KNOW EFFECT AT ALL THEY DID NOT WORK. SINCE THEN THE WEATHER HAS NOT BEEN FAVORABLE. IT IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I CAN USE THAT IS SERVICEABLE. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE, PRESSURE USED TO OPEN DOOR NOT MUCH, ONLY WHAT IS NEEDED TO TRIP THE LATCH AND OPEN. HAD TO LOWER WINDOW AND USE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE TO GET OUT, REMOVED PANEL FROM FRONT AND BACK DOORS, MOVED THE REAR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO THE FRONT FOR A QUICK TEMPORARY FIX, WAITING FOR THAT TO BREAK ALSO. THE COMPLAINT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ADDRESSED OR FIXED BY DODGE... BUT YOU CAN BUY A $40+ HANDLE FROM THEM, THE SAME KIND THAT HAS THE CHANCE TO BREAK AGAIN. STEERING LOCKED UP ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND THEN SHUT IT OFF AND THEN RESTART IT IN ORDER TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO WORK AGAIN

FILLED MY GAS TANK UP TODAY AND THE GAS KEPT COMING OUT ONCE IT WAS FULL. IT HAD SPILLED ALL OVER ME, MY CAR, AND THE GROUND.

APPROX. THE WEEK OF JUNE 9,2015, THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON, ANTI SKID LIGHT ETC. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO LOCAL AUTO SHOP,THEY ORDERED THE COMPUTER MODULE AND THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO SYNC. THEY TOOK TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO PROGRAM. WHEN I PICKED UP, LIGHTS ON DASH STILL ALL ON. AUTO SHOP SPOKE WITH DODGE AND PERSON WHO PROGRAMMED SAID THEY PROGRAMMED THE MODULE, BUT SOMETHING ELSE WAS CAUSING DASH TO LIGHT UP. AUTO SHOP TELLS ME, I HAVE TO BUY A 2ND MODULE. AFTER A WEEKS TIME OF NOT HAVING A VEHICLE AND DODGE TRYING TO ADDRESS, THEY REALIZE THE 1ST MODULE WAS FAULTY SO THEY ORDERED A NEW ONE. VEHICLE THEN DROVE FINE AFTER INSTALLATION, BUT AS OF FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2015. AS I WAS CROSSING A MAJOR LIGHT INTERSECTION, 3/4 WAY ACROSS THE NITRO DIES OUT ON ME AND THE DASH LIGHT ANTI SKID COMES ON, I COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND I WAS FORTUNATE THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE PAYING ATTENTION OTHERWISE I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED! I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTART THE CAR AND IT TURNS ON FINE, NO LIGHTS ON DASH. I CONTINUE TO HEAD HOME AND UPON THE TURN INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD ( A SLOW TURN), THE NITRO DIES ON ME AGAIN AND THE SAME ANTI SKID LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. ROAD IS DRY WEATHER IS CLEAR. I PULL OFF TO SHOULDER ON ROAD AND REPEAT THE PUT INTO PARK AND START ENGINE. I GET HOME AND CALLED DODGE AND EXPLAINED SITUATION. THEY SEE IN VEHICLE RECORD THAT THEY DID REPLACE THE COMPUTER MODULE. DODGE IS TAKING IN MY NITRO TO SERVICE ON TUES. JULY 28,2015. THERE HAS GOT TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THESE COMPUTER MODULES AND FOR ME IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR DRIVING FINE AND THEN YOUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN BECAUSE OF THIS MODULE.

DURING THE SUMMER OR WINTER TIME THE REMOTE CONTROL DON'T WORK. ALSO THE FRONT PLANEL SHOW ME SOME BLINKER LIGHTS WHEN I USE THE DIRECTIONAL LIGHT. THE REMOTE CONTROL ISSUES IN VERY UNSAFETY BECAUSE THIS CAR HAVE JUST A DOOR WITH THE KEY ACCESS. IF YOU HAVE SOME EMERGENCY INSIDE OR FIRE, YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOORS. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN THIS ISSUE WILL BE A POTENTIAL FATALITY BECAUSE THE OTHERS DOOR ARE LOCKED TO ACCESS FROM OUTSIDE. PLEASE PUT ATTENTION IN ISSUE BECAUSE I READ MORE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN OTHER WEBSITES IN THE SAME WAY. FOR THIS REASON I STARTED THIS PETITION.
ORIGINAL DRIVER SIDE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH MELTED AND STOPPED FUNCTIONING. OEM CHRYSLER REPLACEMENT PURCHASED AND INSTALLED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. TWO WEEKS LATER THE REPLACEMENT SWITCH CAUGHT FIRE. DAMAGE WAS ONLY TO THE SWITCH AND WIRING HARNESS. NO RECALL OR SERVICE ALERT?

FOR OVER THE LAST YEAR MY CAR HAS BEEN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON ITS OWN . MY HORN HAD BEEN SOUNDING OFF EVEN WHILE IM DRIVING WITHOUT ME UTILIZING THE HORN AND EVEN WHEN IM AT HOME WITHOUT THE ALARM ON. I ALSO HAVE HAD REPAET ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHT AND TAILLIGHTS BECAUSE THE WIRES KEEP BURNING OUT .
I KEEP HAVING ISSUES WITH THE WIRING ON TAIL LIGHTS, I CONSTANTLY REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS WHICH WORK, THE WIRING IS BAD IN THIS VEHICLE. I ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL WHEN IT RAINS, IT DRAINS MY BATTERY AFTER EVERY HEAVY RAIN, IT MAKES A NOISE LIKE IT'S BOOTING UP OR SOMETHING. I LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT REALLY CONSIDERING TRADING IN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO REQUIRE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MORE PRESSURE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES THAN THEY HAD EARLIER IN THE DAY. SINCE THIS PROBLEM BEGAN IT HAS STEADILY INCREASED REQUIRING ME TO PUSH MY BRAKES ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE BRAKES WILL ENGAGE. IN A FEW CASES MY BRAKES HAVE FAILED TO ENGAGE AT ALL REQUIRING ME TO SWERVE OUT OF TRAFFIC LANES IN ORDER TO AVOID CAUSING A WRECK. I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TWICE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE BRAKES ENGAGING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WENT TO RUN ERRANDS STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE DROP OFF A PACKAGE AT THE BOXES IN THE LOT. DIDN'T PULL CLOSE ENOUGH SO I OPENED THE DOOR TO REACH DROP BOX. WENT NEXT TO BUY GROCERIES AND WHEN TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR THE HANDLE NO LONGER WORKED.. SO I HAD TO TURN MY CAR BACK ON, ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN, OPEN THE DOOR, ROLL MY WINDOW BACK UP...YOU GET THE REST. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE CHILDREN AND LORD KNOWS SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS AND I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY CAR BECAUSE MY HANDLE BREAKS!!! IF I'M HEAVEN FORBID HIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND OR THERE'S A FIRE. I CAN'T GET OUT. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. DODGE HAS HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THE NITRO SINCE IT WAS MADE. HENCE THE REASON DODGE STOPPED PRODUCTION ON THE NITRO. ALL WHY IS A LARGER SIZED BODY SUB PUT ON A JEEP LIBERTY FRAME? HAD I KNOWN THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED THE NITRO. *TR
MY CAR WILL NOT LOCK. ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE "LOCK-UNLOCK KEY" STOPPED WORKING AND NO ONE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. SINCE THEN I'VE HAD TO MANUALLY USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER DOOR AND THEN MANUALLY USE THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON FOR THE REST OF THE DOORS. LAST MONTH (MARCH 2015), THE LOCKS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. AFTER 2 DAYS THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES STARTING WORKING, BUT THE LOCK BUTTON IS COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK EVERY DOOR TO KEEP MY CAR SOMEWHAT SECURE, HOWEVER MY TRUNK IS NOW STUCK UNLOCKED WITH NO WAY TO LOCK IT. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO 3 MECHANICS AND NONE OF THEM CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT SEEMS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR

ON FEBRUARY 26, 2015. WHILE DRIVING ON THE 605 NORTH IN THE #2 LANE. I NOTICED MY CAR TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT STRAIGHT TO HOT. I SLOWED DOWN AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND PROCEEDED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BY SAFELY PASSING INTO THE NEXT LANES WHILE OTHER CARS WERE TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEED LIMITS. ONCE ON SHOULDER SHUT OFF CAR AND KEPT HAZARDS ON. AND SAT IN MY CAR APPROX 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. I NOTICED IT DID NOT IMMEDIATELY GO TO HOT, STILL DRIVING IN THE SHOULDER WITH HAZARDS ON FOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT A SLOW SPEED PROCEEDED TO NEAREST OFF RAMP AND EXITED. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT A LOWER RATE THAN THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE STARTED TO GO TO HOT AGAIN I REACHED THE CAR REPAIR SHOP I HAD BEEN TO BEFORE WHICH WAS 2 MILES FROM THE OFF RAMP. I PULLED INTO THE CAR REPAIR SHOP AROUND 5:00 PM. I STATED TO THE RECEPTIONIST THAT MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING. THE NEXT DAY AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PREVIOUSLY ON 3/14/2014 ANOTHER WATER PUMP FAILED AND WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER GLENN THOMAS DODGE. IN REVIEWING THE CAR'S RECORDS WITH DODGE CORPORATION DURING WARRANTY THERE WAS ANOTHER WATER PUMP WHICH FAILED AND WAS REPLACED IN 2011 BY GLENN THOMAS DODGE. THIS HAS MADE THREE (3) TIMES THAT THE WATER PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED IN MY DODGE NITRO 4X4 2007.
DROVE VEHICLE THROUGH A PARKING AREA FOR ABOUT TWO BLOCKS AT ABOUT 15 MPH WHEN ALL LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, WINDSHIELD WASHERS, RADIO, ALARM, AND AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TURNED ON OR ENGAGED. I PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, REMOVED THE KEYS, BUT ALL OF THE LIGHTS, SYSTEMS, ALARM, ETC., CONTINUED TO OPERATE. SMOKE BEGAN RISING FROM THE HOOD, AND I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR LOCKS KEPT ENGAGING AND LOCKING ME IN THE CAR EVERY TIME I TRIED TO PULL ON THE MANUAL DOOR LOCK BUTTON. I WAS ABLE TO REACH OUT THE WINDOW TO MANIPULATE THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LOCK ENOUGH TIMES THAT THE DOOR POPPED OPEN. AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE, FLAMES BEGAN TO SHOOT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WITHIN FOUR MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS ENTIRELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED QUICKLY (LESS THAN 5 MINUTES), BUT THE FIRE SPREAD QUICKLY - LIKELY BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL FIRE MELTED THE FUEL LINE AND GASOLINE FED THE FIRE (ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE FIREFIGHTERS). THE CAR AND THE CONTENTS ARE A TOTAL LOSS. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE WEATHER WAS NICE ENOUGH THAT I CHOSE TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOW OPEN, OR I WOULD HAVE HAD TO KICK OUT THE WINDOW TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. VERY TRAUMATIC. *TR
