THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL MODULE HAS TO BE - STRANGE THINGS KEEP HAPPENING, DOOR LOCKS ARE ACTIVATING BY THEMSELVES CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO STAY ON AND RUNNING DOWN BATTERY AND OTHER TIMES ITS DOOR LOCKS WON'T WORK AT ALL WITH OR WITHOUT USING KEY FOB, RADIO IS WORKING SPORADICALLY AND MAKING STRANGE LOUD NOISES, THERE'S EVEN A WHISTLE SOUND COMING FORM THE FUSE BOX AT TIMES, THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL. I'VE READ WHERE A LOT OF NITRO'S ARE DOING THIS AND IT SEEMS TO BE SOME TYPE OF CONTROL MODULE. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE I HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND CAN'T GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
DODGE NITRO 2007 STARTED HONKING RANDOMLY AND SOMETIMES AT NIGHT CAR OFF OR DRIVING. IT GOT TO POINT WHERE PEOPLE CAME UP TO ME TO TELL ME IF I HAD A PROBLEM I WENT TO MECHANIC CALLED DEALER WAS TOLD PART IS IN BACK ORDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, AN 18-WHEELER TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FLIP. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SHOULDER SEPARATION AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A MINOR CONCUSSION THAT BOTH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
SINCE MARCH 2014. THE HORN HAS GONE OFF BY ITSELF (3), THE TRUCK HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 30 MPH (1), TRUCK HAS FAILED TO START (1). *TR
I WAS GETTING OUT OF MY 2007 DODGE NITRO AND THE HANDLE JUST BROKE. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A TON OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL YET?!? *TR
DURING ACCELERATION, PEDAL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED, WHICH DIDN'T ALLOW VEHICLE TO MAINTAIN OR INCREASE SPEED. VEHICLE DECELERATED ON INTERSTATE, POSING AN IMMEDIATE HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. SINCE, IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE. ONCE IT WOULDN'T ALLOW VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 35, AND THE SECOND TIME IT WOULDN'T GO HIGHER THAN 10 (ALSO IN A 55 MPH AREA). SECOND, THOUGH THE RECALL HAS BEEN ON MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY, THE PARKING BREAK ON THE 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4 R/T IS FAULTY, AND THOUGH THE LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING IT IS IN USE, THE PARKING BREAK DOES NOT ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN TRUE FROM INITIAL PURCHASE. THIS POSES A RISK WHEN PARKING ON ANY GRADE THAT WILL NEED THE USE OF A PARKING BRAKE. THIS ALSO CAUSES ISSUES IN SOME AREAS IN REGARDS TO INSPECTION, AND WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION WITHOUT REPAIR. FINALLY, WHEN USING THE TURN SIGNAL, THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION SIGNAL WILL TRIP, CAUSING THE SIGNAL NOT TO TURN OFF BUT JUST TO KEEP SWITCHING DIRECTIONS AND MUST THEN BE TOGGLED ON AND OFF TO GET IT TO STOP. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 3 WEEKS AGO. *TR
THE PLASTIC INSIDE DOOR HANDLES CONTINUE TO BREAK. IT IS NOT WEAR AND TEAR AS IT HAS HAPPENED ON DOORS THAT NEVER GET USED. THE HANDLE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PASSENGERS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THROUGH THEIR DOOR. THE DRIVER HANDLE HAS ALSO BROKE MAKING IT UNSAFE. IF THERE WERE EVER A NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FOR AN EMERGENCY AND THE WINDOW COULD NOT BE ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WOULD BE UNABLE TO EXIT. THE WINDOWS HAVE TO BE ROLLED DOWN AND THE PERSON HAS TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE ONLY. THE PART GETS REPLACED AND FIXED AND BREAKS AGAIN. THE HANDLES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC THAT WEAR OUT WITH HEAT VERY EASILY. I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE THESE HANDLES WITH A MORE STURDY MATERIAL. IT IS A VERY UNSAFE PIECE THAT CONTINUES TO BREAK.
I BOUGHT A 2007 DODGE NITRO. I NOTICED AFTER I BOUGHT IT THERE WAS HESITATION WHEN IT GOT TO ABOUT 40 MPH. I ALSO EXPERIENCED WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT THAT THE RPM WOULD DROP WAY DOWN AND THE CAR WOULD ALMOST STALL THEN RPM WOULD COME RIGHT BACK UP. MY HEAT QUIT WORKING ALONG WITH THE DOOR LOCKS AND THE WASHER FLUID WOULD NOT SPRAY OUT. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND ONE WAS BLOWN SO I CHANGED IT, THAT ONE BLEW AS WELL AND ALL POWER TO THE CAR WAS LOST. COME TO FIND OUT THE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAY THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE TIME OF VEHICLE. I AM LUCKY MY CAR DIDN'T CATCH FIRE AS A RESULT OF THIS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THERE WERE ACTUALLY WIRES MELTING UNDER THE FUSE BOX. THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL ON THIS. I HAVE OWNED A DODGE RAM BEFORE AND LOVED IT THAT'S WHY I WENT WITH DODGE AGAIN BUT NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS IN THE 4 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED A 2007 DODGE NITRO WITH 57334 KMS. ON MY FIRST REFUELING I WAS ALMOST SOAKED IN GASOLINE BECAUSE OF WHAT I DETERMINED LATER AS A FACTORY FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE GAS TANK. THE HOSE CLICKS OFF AS THE TANK IS FULL BUT THEN THE GASOLINE GUSHES OUT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE & GROUND. THE AMOUNT IS CONSIDERABLE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS FIRE ISSUE. ON MY 2ND REFUELING WAS THE SAME THING & EACH ADDITIONAL FILL. HASN'T THERE BEEN ANY RECALLS OR FORCIBLE FIX TO GET THE MANUFACTURE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE? *TR
THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. AND THE LAST TIME WAS BACK IN NOVEMBER 2014. WHILE I AM DRIVING MY VEHICLE STALLS, MY BRAKES LOCK UP AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOOSES POWER WITH THE REST OF MY CAR EXCEPT MY RADIO. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY BECAUSE I AM PUTTING MY LIFE AND OTHERS IN DANGER. AND CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SHOW UP ON DIAGNOSTIC. BUT WHEN YOU PULL UP RECALLS AND DEFECTS. THE PROBLEM IS RIGHT THERE. WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS. I HAVE TO TURN OFF MY KEYS AND RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO WORK AGAIN. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN 3 TIMES ALREADY THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL ON DODGE THEY ARE HORRIBLE I AM SICK OF HAVING TO BUY DOOR HANDLES!!! *TR
DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK AT WILL - CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO COME ON DURING THE NIGHT WHICH HAS KILLED MY BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES... SO I HAD TO TAKE THE BATTERY OUT OF THE KEY FOB WHICH MEANS THE SECURITY SYSTEM CAN'T BE SET.. THE RADIO IS BUZZING AND SCREECHING AT WILL - WORKS SOMETIMES AND THEN IT WON'T BUT RESTARTING THE VEHICLE USUALLY FIXES THIS... THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL AND EVEN STAYS ON MOST OF THE DRIVING TIME... THE GAS CAP WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL - HAVE REPLACED THE GAS CAP TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR AND IT CONTINUES TO GIVE THIS WARNING... - I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE MANY NITRO OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM... DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET HURT IN ORDER FOR DODGE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHANGING THE TIPM IN THEIR VEHICLES???? *TR
FIRST THE DRIVERS WINDOW FELL A LITTLE THEN THE DRIVERS DOOR MASTER POWER SWITCH STARTED SMOKING AND SMOLDERED SO MUCH THAT I HAD TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE DODGE AND ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE SWITCH. THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED AND WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE. RESTARTED VEHICLE TO GO TO DEALERSHIP AND THE SWITCH CAUGHT FIRE. AGAIN TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND PULLED THE SWITCH, IT WAS MELTED AND FELL APART. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE WIRES WERE BADLY MELTED FROM THE HEAT. TOOK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. *TR
DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK ANY TIME AS WELL AS THE REAR HATCH. THE CAR STALLS AT TIMES FOR NO REASON ON STREET
MY ELEVEN YEAR OLD SON PUT THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOWN. WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF PUTTING THE WINDOW DOWN, THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH AND DOOR PANEL BEGAN TO SMOKE. THERE WERE LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE DOOR. THE DOOR PANEL BECAME EXTREMELY HOT CAUSING HIM TO UNDO HIS SEATBELT AND JUMP ACROSS THE SEAT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE NITRO OFF KILLING POWER TO THE SWITCH. THE SWITCH CONTINUED TO BURN AND SMOKE FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES AFTER I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND GOT MY FAMILY TO SAFETY. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE NITRO WOULDN'T CRANK. SO I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE GPS, WELL I PAID TO GET THAT FIXED AND IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING.. SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP WHOM TOLD ME IT WAS THE BATTERY.. OK I GOT THAT FIXED AND WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, THE HORN CONTINUOUSLY GOES OFF, SO DOES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE DOORS BEGAN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. SO I TOOK IT TO ONE FINAL SHOP AND THAT'S WHEN THEY TOLD ME ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. I ASKED COULD THIS BE FIXED AND WAS TOLD ITS BEEN ON BACK ORDER. SO NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH MY VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONING.. *TR
I HAD A FUSE BLOW IN 2014 SO I HAD MY MECHANIC REPLACE IT. EVER SINCE IT HAS BEEN REPLACE MY CAR NO LONGER LOCKS USING MY KEYLESS ENTRY. MY WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID NEVER SHUTS OFF SO I HAVE TO LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED. MY HATCH ONLY LOCKS WHEN I MANUALLY LOCK IT WHICH INVOLVES REMOVING THE COVER ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. AND NOW OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS WHEN MY CAR IS PARKED IT WILL UNLOCK AND THE HEADLIGHTS COME ON FOR NO REASON. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN 2012.
MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THAT THE CAR UNLOCKS BY ITSELF, TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS AND DRAINING THE BATTERY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES RECENTLY AND IS VERY FRUSTRATING. *TR

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V291000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
AT FULL TANK THE PUMP SHUTOFF FAILS EVERY TIME AND FUEL SPILLS FROM FILLER WHEN PUMPING AT ANY PUMP AT ANY RATE CAUSING FUEL TO RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. I HAVE SEEN MORE COMPLAINTS OF THIS THAN MOST OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND COMMON MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE DEALT WITH BY A RECALL. *TR

OBVIOUSLY AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH MOST NITRO'S HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD ALL BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE GAS TANK DOESN'T STOP THE PUMP WHEN IT'S FULL RESULTING IN GAS OVERFLOWING EVERYWHERE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE AIR CONDITIONING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY CAUSING THE CONTACT TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PARKING BRAKE FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LOCK OUT FEATURED HAD TO BE BYPASSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE DRUMS AND THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V121000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. UPDATED 08/19/14*LJ UPDATED 8/29/2017*CN
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SNAPPED / BROKE CLEAN OFF WHEN I TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE ONE AFTERNOON ON MAY 14, 2014. VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 70K MILES AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS A PLASTIC HANDLE UNTIL IT BROKE. APPEARS TO BE CHEAP PLASTIC. DOOR HANDLE WAS NOT EXPOSED TO ABUSE. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS OPERATED WITH APPROPRIATE EXITING FORCE UPON EVERY EXIT AND 99% OF THE TIME I'M THE ONLY ONE USING THAT DOOR HANDLE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS IT APPEARS I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THANKS IN ADVANCE. *TR
I AM ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. IT IS GARAGED , WELL MAINTAINED, AND SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP. THERE IS NO HISTORY OF ABUSE, OR AUTO ACCIDENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE INTERIOR DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE SNAPPED OFF IN MY HANDS YESTERDAY, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE PARKED VEHICLE. THIS IS A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY CONCERN. ONLY EXIT IS THROUGH AN ELECTRIC WINDOW, DUE TO LARGE CONSOLE BETWEEN SEATS. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE, AND DUE TO MILEAGE (79K) AND AGE (2007), THEY OFFER NO ASSISTANCE IN FIXING, SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY AT DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS IN VARIOUS FORUMS OF THIS SAME ISSUE, TO WARRANT CONTACTING YOU. THIS IS NOT COSMETIC, BUT OF VITAL CONCERN TO DRIVER SAFETY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS A NEW TRANSMISSIO NOW.FUEL BACKFIRES OUT THE TANK EVERYTIME I GO TO FILL UP THE TANK.THEN,MY INSURANCE GAVE ME A RECALL LIST TO HAVE IT TAKEN IN.TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS OF TIMES AND SAME PROBLEM OCCURS AND THEY SAY IN THEY'RE DATABASE ITS NOT SHOWING ANYTHING ON MY VIN NUMBER.AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF ALLDAY.CAR BEATS AND AIRBAG LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF AND IS VERY ANNOYING.A/C COMPRESSOR IS NOW OUT AND WORKING ON GETTING IT REPLACED BUT OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING IS GOING PERFECT.
WHILE DRIVING NO MATTER WHAT THE SPEED THE CAR KICKS BACK. IT COULD BE WHEN IT'S MOVING TO THE NEXT GEAR OR JUST ON A GEAR IT KICKS BACK HARD. TOOK THE CAR TO MECHANIC NO ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION EVERY ONE IS STUMPED AS TO WHAT IT IS. NOTHING COMES UP ON DIAGNOSTIC. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT STARTED WITH THE ABOVE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CAR TURNS OFF ON IT'S OWN. IT COULD BE WHILE YOU ARE IDLE OR BACKING UP, PARKING OR EVEN IN THE PROCESS OF STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT BECAUSE THE BREAKS LOCKED UP AFTER THE CAR JUST STALLED WHILE I WAS STOPPING THE VEHICLE. AGAIN NO ONE KNOWS WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. VERY DANGEROUS. I'VE AVOIDED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I LIVE IN A PLACE THAT HAS LOTS OF HILLS SO IF THIS CAR TURNS OFF WHILE BREAKING/SLOWING DOWN GOING DOWNHILL I CAN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. BREAKS LOCK UP BECAUSE CAR IS TURNED OFF SO I HAVE NO WAY TO STOP CAR BUT EMERGENCY BREAK AND HOPE THAT IT WORKS QUICK ENOUGH. *TR
DOOR LOCKS HAVE RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING. THE KEY FOB AND INTERIOR BUTTONS WILL UNLOCK ALL DOORS AND TRUNK BUT RANDOMLY WILL NOT LOCK. WHEN USING THE KEY FOB, THE HORN BEEPS AND HEADLIGHTS FLASH BUT THE DOORS DO NOT ACTUALLY LOCK. AT TIMES THE DOORS STILL DO NOT LOCK EVEN AFTER DRIVING AT 15MPH, WHEN THEY NORMALLY WOULD LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CHARGED ME $100 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH SHOWED SOME TYPE OF TRIPPED SENSOR (I THINK RELATED TO THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM OR TRANSMISSION RELATED) AND AN ERROR RELATED TO THE TIPM. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TIPM AND SAID IF THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PAY $700 TO REPLACE THE TIPM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKS SEEMED TO BE FIXED, BUT ONLY LASTED ABOUT 30 DAYS. ALTHOUGH I CAN MANUALLY LOCK THE DOOR, I HAVE NO WAY OF LOCKING THE TRUNK AREA AND THE BACK DOORS ARE HARD TO MANUALLY LOCK UNLESS YOU PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN. I THINK HAVING AN UNLOCKED VEHICLE IS UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WORK 12 HOUR SHIFTS THAT START WHEN IT'S DARK IN THE AM AND END WHEN IT'S DARK IN THE PM. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES A COUPLE TIMES WHERE IT FEELS LIKE I'M HYDROPLANING, SORT OF LIKE THERE IS A DELAY IN THE BRAKES GRABBING, BUT THE ROAD WAS COMPLETELY DRY AT THE TIME. THIS ALSO SEEMED TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY 2 OR 3 TIMES, THEN STOPPED. NOT SURE IF SOMETHING DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST CORRECTED THIS. *TR
I HAD SLOWED DOWN TO LOOK FOR AN ADDRESS ON A DEAD END STREET WHICH ABUTTED UP TO A CHAIN LINK FENCE AND AN EMBANKMENT JUST OFF OF I-5 IN LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON. MY 83 YEAR OLD MOTHER WAS RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY NITRO RAPIDLY ACCELERATING TO APPROXIMATELY 70-80 MPH. I CRASHED THROUGH A CHAIN LINK FENCE AND STRUCK A TREE. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE TREE I WOULD HAVE ENDED UP ON I-5 AND POSSIBLY COLLIDED WITH NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HOWEVER I BELIEVE THIS WAS DUE TO PRIMARILY STRIKING THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE CAR. MY MOTHER SUSTAINED BRUISING DUE TO THE SEAT BACK TIGHTENING UP AND GENERALIZED SOFT TISSUE INJURY. I SUSTAINED NECK, BACK, LEFT SHOULDER AND LEG SORENESS. MY CAR HAD 51,000 MILES ON IT. USAA TOTALED MY CAR. I LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. IN ADDITION TO THIS, I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE. *TR

PULLED ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE AND IT SNAPPED OFF. HAVE TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW AND OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. NOT A VERY SAFE OPTION. I HAVE READ MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM, PERHAPS A RECALL SHOULD BE PUT OUT. IT IS A PRICEY FIX AT THE DEALER. MY CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND I TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE NEVER WORKED LIKE IT SHOULD, EVEN WHEN NEW, THE ELECTRIC WINDOW SWITCHES AND POWER DOOR LOCKS WORK WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT, AND THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES BREAK FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN POOR WORKMANSHIP AND POOR CHOICE OF MATERIALS (PLASTIC) RENDERING THEM USELESS. THESE ARE ALL KNOWN PROBLEMS FOR YEARS WITH DODGE NITROS . THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THEM FOR THESE REASONS, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DANGEROUS. IT'S LIKE THE MONEY PIT. DODGE WANTS $150.00 PER DOOR JUST TO REPAIR THE HANDLE ASSEMBLIES. ARE THEY KIDDING ME? WHO MAKES A DOOR HANDLE OUT OF CHEAP PLASTIC? WE TAKE CARE OF THIS VEHICLE LIKE ITS A NEW CAR, AND NEVER ABUSE IT. IT HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST DOOR HANDLE BROKE WITH 30,000 MILES. WHEN FILLING TANK WITH GAS, FUEL WILL SPEW BACK OUT SPLASHING ALL OVER PERSON, GROUND AND SURROUNDINGS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN FUELING IS COMPLETE AND YOU ARE REMOVING THE NOZZLE AFTER THE NOZZLE IS SHUT OFF.. THE BACK SPLASHIS SO VIOLENT, GAS WILL SPLASH INTO YOUR EYES. *TR

A CONSTANT AND LOUD TICKING SOUND IS COMING FROM THE 4.0 V6 ENGINE, THE ENGINE STALLS AND THERE IS LOSS OF POWER USUALLY WHEN TURNING A CORNER. THE ENGINE ALSO MISFIRES AT TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING. ESP CAN NOT BE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WHEN I NEED TO PULL THE BOAT OFF A SLIP, IT ACTIVATES WHEN WHEELS SPIN OR BEGINS TO SLIDE APPLYING THE REAR BRAKES AGGRESSIVELY. ALSO WHEN I AM IN 4X4 AND SPINNING IN THE MUD IT ALSO DOES THE SAME RESULTING IN ALMOST GETTING STUCK OR GETTING STUCK, WHICH MAKES ME USE 4X4 MORE OFTEN THEN NOT. I HAVE CONTACTED DEALERS AND DODGE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT THEY SAY ITS INTEGRATED INTO THE ABS SYSTEM AND CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE GONE THROUGH SEVERAL REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. NOW I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO OPEN THE DOOR, ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE POWER WINDOW MOTOR BURNS OUT FROM CONTINUAL USE, AT WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE MOTOR IN PASS. DOOR AND SWITCHES IN DRIVERS DOOR AT MY OWN EXPENSE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. *TR

TURNED ON THE A/C TODAY AND THE WORST BURNING SMELL CAME THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. MADE MY NIECES SICK. PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD AND HEARD METAL GRINDING SOUND AND SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME IN 6 MONTHS I'M REPLACING IT. *TR

THIS VEHICLE AS BOUGHT USED AT A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN ARLINGTON, TX WITH ABOUT 33,800 MILES ON IT. WHEN REFUELING THIS VEHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE GAS PUMP DID NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL, RESULTING IN GAS OVERFLOWING ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SPILLING ON THE GROUND. THIS SAME KIND OF MALFUNCTION CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVERY TIME IT IS REFUELED UNLESS THE PERSON REFUELING IT MANUALLY STOPS THE PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS COMPLETELY FULL. SOMETIMES THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AS GAS BEGINS TO OVERFLOW, AND OTHER TIMES THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF AT ALL. THIS CONDITION IS VERY HAZARDOUS, HARMFUL TO THE VEHICLE'S PAINT, AND WASTEFUL. *TR
