TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE GAS OVERFLOWS OUT ONTO THE CAR AND THE FLOOR. I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A VALVE THAT SHOULD STOP THE GAS FROM SPILLING OUT OF THE TANK IN CASE OF A ROLLOVER AND THAT IS THE PART THAT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I HAVE STOPPED TRYING TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY DODGE NITRO FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM THE TANK IN UPWARDS TO HALF A GALLON. IT SEEMS TO NOT MATTER WHETHER I SET THE PUMP ON LOW, HIGH OR FILL UP MANUALLY, FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM THE NOZZLE OF THE TANK, AFTER PUMP HAS SHUT OFF)...ONCE SOAKING MY PANTS IN GAS. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM, IT'S A PERSONAL DANGER, AND A DANGER TO OTHERS. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED, AND HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING, HOWEVER, BASED ON HOW MANY TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME I CAN MOST LIKELY ASSUME IT WAS. WHEN DOING RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. SEEMS AS THOUGH JEEPS AND DODGES ARE HAVING THESE ISSUES. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ENFORCED ON THIS. *TR
2008 DODGE NOTRE FUEL TANK OVERFLOW PROBLEM. PUMP WOULD CLICK AND FUELING WOULD STOP AS NORMAL, BUT GAS WOULD SHOOT OUT THE SIDE OF THE GAS PUMP JUST PAST THE HANDLE AT THE RUBBER GASKET BEFORE THE NOZZLE. THIS WAS A CONSISTENT THING. CARS AHEAD OF ME AT THE PUMP WOULD HAVE NO ISSUES AND IT DIDN'T MATTER WHICH PUMP I WENT TO THE RESULT WAS THE SAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED BACK UP THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS TANK WILL SPEW GASOLINE OUT WHEN THE TANK REACHES CAPACITY. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU ARE MANUALLY HOLDING THE PUMP OR HAVE IT SET WITH THE LITTLE LOCK FEATURE TO AUTOMATICALLY FILL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE NITRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL WOULD SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,700. AT LEASE THREE TIMES AT THREE LOCATIONS MY GAS TANK WOULD OVERFLOW WHEN FILLING UP. I'VE HAD TO NOTIFY ATTENDANT AT GAS STATION TO SPRAY OVER FLOW AREA WITH FLAME RETARDANT CHEMICALS. GAS GETS TOO HIGH IN THE FILL TUBE AND IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF MAKING A GOOD AMOUNT OF GAS SPILL OVER.
WHEN I FILL MY GAS TANK, THE GAS WILL SHOOT OUT AS THE TANK GETS FULL. THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF, BUT THE FUEL CONTINUES TO SHOOT OUT THE TUBE AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ANYONE STANDING THERE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO HAVE. I DO NOT LIKE BEING DOUSED WITH FUEL OR HAVING FUEL SPRAYING ONTO THE GROUND AND SURROUNDINGS. THE JEEP LIBERTY HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND IT WAS RECALLED BUT FOR SOME REASON, THE DODGE NITRO HAS NOT BEEN, WHICH HAS THE SAME TANK. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP TANK WITH GAS, IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. GAS COMES RUSHING OUT. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OF MY 2007 DODGE NITRO, WHEN REACHING FULL AND THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF SEVERAL CUPS OF FUEL COME BACK OUT THE FILLER LOCATION AND SPRAY OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR, GROUND, PUMP, AND ANYBODY STANDING NEARBY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT SEVERAL GAS PUMPS AND STATIONS. UPON DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARS THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VENT IN THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, WHICH COULD LEAD TO BOTH A FIRE AT THE GAS STATION, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF EXPLOSION IF INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. *TR
MY TRUCK HAS A TENDENCY TO STALL WHEN AT IDLE SPEED. HAPPENS ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. I FIRST TOOK IT TO ALLEN SAMUEL'S DODGE ON 610 FREEWAY IN HOUSTON, TX. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, SUGGESTED THROTTLE BODY SERVICE WHICH WAS PERFORM. DIDN'T CORRECT THE ISSUE. TOOK IT TO GILMAN CHRYSLER ON 59 SW FREEWAY IN HOUSTON, THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS HAVE HAD FUEL INJECTOR SERVICE, SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT AND FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE, ALL AT THE ABOVE DEALERSHIPS. VEHICLE NOW HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES. PROBLEM STILL EXIST ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. I AM AFRAID THAT IT MAY STALL IN TRAFFIC WHILE AT TRAFFIC LIGHT OR FREEWAY TRAFFIC JAM WHICH COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE 2007 DODGE NITROS WERE RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I SHOWED THE DEALERS THE RECALL FORM SAFECAR BUT THEIR COMMENT WAS THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALL AND SINCE THEY WERE NOT GETTING ANY CODES MY PROBLEM WAS DIFFERENT. I DISAGREE, IT HAS TO BE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AS WITH THE DODGE NITRO 2007. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2008 AND AM THE ONLY OWNER. *TR
SPLASH BACK OF GASOLINE WHEN FILLING UP FUEL TANK. INCIDENT OCCURS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SHOOTS BACK OUT OF THE FILLING NOZZLE ALL OVER THE PAINTED SURFACE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON TO THE SURFACE OF THE AREA IN WHICH PARKED. THIS IS AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF OR AFTER I RELEASE THE LEVER ON THE PUMP WHEN FINISHED FUELING. IN ADDITION TO AGGRAVATION, ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE, PAINT DAMAGE, THERE ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES THAT COULD OCCUR IF SOME SORT OF AN IGNITION SOURCE OCCURRED AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. CONTROLLING THE FLOW/SPEED OF GASOLINE FROM THE GAS PUMP THROUGH THE NOZZLE INTO THE TANK FILLER TUBE DOES NOT LESSEN THE PROBLEM. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK ON MY 2008 DODGE NITRO FOR THE LAST FOUR MONTHS, GAS OVERFLOWS FROM THE TANK UNLESS I MANUALLY STOP THE PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THAT IT WAS EITHER A PROBLEM WITH THE FILTER ON THE GAS LINE OR SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE LINE ITSELF. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS GAS RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND ALSO IS ON THE GROUND AT THE GAS STATION. *TR
DRIVING A 2008 DODGE NITRO. WENT OF THE ROAD INTO A RAVINE. WENT THROUGH A BARBWIRE FENCE, OVER BOULDERS, SIDESWIPPED A TREE, AND HIT A BIG OAK TREE HEAD ON. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSE DOCUMENTED WHIPLASH. I WAS WEARING A SEATBELT. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2008 DODGE NITRO SLT ON 9/22/07. LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER, THE NITRO BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ON 3/8/08, THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH WAS REPLACED BY A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON 11/18/09, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIP AS ONE WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED HAD CLOSED. AT THIS VISIT, THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AS IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE THE SOURCE OF ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS THAT HAD BEEN OCCURRING WITH THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS - HORN HONKING ON ITS OWN, WINDOW WIPERS (FRONT AND BACK) WORKING ON THEIR OWN (WITH SPRAY), DOOR LOCKS GOING UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELVES AND ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, PLUS THE A/C HEATER UNIT STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR HAD BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS REPAIR AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE IN THE CONDITION IT WAS IN AT THE TIME. ON 9/2/10, THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SECOND DEALERSHIP THAT HAD WORKED ON IT PRIOR FOR THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORKING BY THEMSELVES (WITH SPRAY), TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING LOW TIRE PRESSURE WHEN PRESSURE WAS NORMAL, BOTH TURN SIGNALS FLASHING AT THE SAME TIME WHILE CAR WAS EITHER AT A STANDSTILL OR IN MOTION, FOR NO REASON. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT, BECAUSE NO CODES SHOWED AND THE VEHICLE PASSED ALL THEIR TESTS, NOT DUPLICATING THE PROBLEMS I HAD TOLD THEM ABOUT, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I NEEDED A WARNING LIGHT TO APPEAR ON MY SUV OR SOMETHING THAT WOULD HELP INDICATE TO THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NOW THE NITRO IS IN THE SAME SHOP YET AGAIN AS, ON 2/9/11, AS I HAD JUST STARTED UP THE VEHICLE, THE HORN BEGAN RANDOMLY CHIRPING, THE DASH LIGHTS ALL WERE FAINTLY BLINKING AND THE WIPERS WORKED BY THEMSELVES AGAIN. I DROVE OUT OF MY PARKING DECK AND ONTO A STREET WHEN THE ENTIRE DASH LIT UP, THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED AND BEGAN ROLLING DOWNHILL BACKWARDS. NEITHER THE GAS NOR THE BRAKES WOULD WORK. HORN STAYED BLARING. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 DODGE NITRO--EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK IT BACK SPLASHES OUT AT ME --I PUT PAPER TOWELS UP TO STOP IT FROM GETTING ON CAP AND THEN ON MY SKIN TO NO AVAIL --THEN I PUT THE SOAKED TOWEL INTO THE TRASH AT STATION --THATS NOT GOOD--THAT COULD BE IGNITED BY SOMEONE WHO EMPTIES AN ASHTRAY OR THROWS A CIGARETTE INTO THE TRASH --I MAKE A MESS AT EVERY STATION I GO TO --ALWAYS A PUDDLE --THE CAR IS WHITE AND I TRY TO WAX IT EVERTIME BUT ITS OHIO AND I CANT WAX IT WHEN ITS 10 OUTSIDE--THE PAINT IS DISCOLORING NOW AND LOOKS YELLOW--YOU PEOPLE NEED TO DO SOMETHING NOW THIS ISNT JUST AN INCONVIENCE ITS EPA AND SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO MENTION MY HEALTH FROM CONTACT WITH GAS EACH TIME I FILL PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
GAS COMES SPILLING OUT WHEN FILLING GAS TANK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN OR SLUSHY SNOW A ELECTRICAL COMPONENT ON THE TRANSFER CASE THAT SWITCHES THE VEHICLE FROM TWO WHEEL DRIVE TO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SHORTS OUT AND RENDERS THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE USELESS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MY VEHICLE 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. *TR
EVERY TIME FUEL TANK IS FILLED AND THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF, A FAIR AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SHOOTS BACKWARDS OUT OF THE GAS TANK. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY, AND THIS HAS HAPPENED EACH TIME THE TANK HAS BEEN FILLED.
EVERYTIME I GO TO FILL UP MY GASOLINE TANK OF THE 2008 DODGE NITRO I JUST PURCHASED IN DEC 2010 IT OVERFLOWS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY CAR. THIS IS VERY UPSETTING AND I SEE THIS AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IN ADDITION TO THAT THE FINISH OF THE NITRO IS BEING RUINED EVERYTIME I FILL UP. NOW I HAVE TO PUT IN 40 $'S OF GAS IN EACH TIME TO AVOID OVERFLOWING THE TANK. THIS IS OBNOXIOUS. WHO IN THE WORLD WANTS TO STOP AT THE GAS STATION MORE FREQUENTLY BECAUSE OF A GASOLINE TANK MALFUNCTION? WHICH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE BUYING THE THING! *TR
GAS OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING TANK ON MY 2008 DODGE NITRO. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A VALVE IN THE GAS TANK THAT IS THERE TO PREVENT AN EXPLOSION IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER. THE VALVE IS DEFECTIVE AND THUS, THE GAS SPILLS OUT. *TR
WHEN FILLING MY 2008 DODGE NITRO AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY, GASOLINE SUDDENLY SPEWS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AND MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY 2008 DODGE NITRO WITH GAS, IT SPRAYS/OVERFLOWS FUEL. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 8 MONTHS NOW, AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY TIME I FILL UP SINCE THE BEGINNING. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION AND HAS HAPPENED IN MULTIPLE STATES. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ME, TO THE PEOPLE AROUND ME, AND TO THE ENVIRONMENT. THIS IS A SEVERE FIRE RISK, NOT TO MENTION THE VAPORS I, AND THE PEOPLE AROUND ME, INHALE EACH TIME I NEED GAS. THE CONTINUED GAS SPILLAGE HAS FADED THE PLASTIC FENDER FLARE. THIS HAPPENS IF IT IS FILLING AUTOMATICALLY OR IF I AM HOLDING THE HANDLE. THE HANDLE CLICKS OFF, AND AFTER ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS, THERE IS A RUSH OF GAS BACK UP TOWARD ME. I HAVE BEEN COVERED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, AND THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 CUPS OF GAS SPILLED ONTO MY VEHICLE AND THEN ONTO THE GROUND EVERY TIME I FILL UP. THIS IS AN EXTREME HAZARD WHICH HAS BEEN CAUSED BY FAULTY MANUFACTURING AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY THE MANUFACTURER EITHER VOLUNTARILY OR VIA A RECALL. *LN
WHEN I FUEL THE VEHICLE UP FUEL BURSTS OUT, AND DOESN'T SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. I'VE TRIED NUMEROUS DIFFERENT STATIONS AND EVEN DIFFERENT PUMPS BUT THIS STILL HAPPENS. GAS POURS OUT OF THE CAR AND DOWN THE SIDES AND EVEN ONTO ME..A PAIN AND WASTE OF MONEY. THERE ARE SEVERAL SITUATIONS AND CLAIMS THAT I HAVE SEEN LIKE THIS THAT NEED TO BE RECALLED AND ADDRESSED. I HAVE HEARD (FROM A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS A MECHANIC)THAT THIS IS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A VALVE IN THE GAS TANK THAT TO PREVENT AN EXPLOSION IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT THE VALVE IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND NOW NOTHING IT STOPPING IT FROM EXPLODING FROM A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURE DEFECT (RECALL) PLEASE FIX THIS AND ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ASAP! *TR
AUTOMATIC 2 WHEEL DRIVE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD WHEN APPLIED. TOOK TO DODGE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS OR REPAIR. WAS TOLD NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. RECALL ON 4 WHEEL DRIVE ONLY. HAD NEW BRAKES- ROTORS- CALIBERS AND PADS INSTALLED EMERGENCY BRAKE STILL NOT WORKING.THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
IT FIRST STARTING WAS PUMPING GAS INTO MY VEHICLE WHEN THE PUMP CLICKED OFF INDICATING MY PUMP WAS FULL, AND THEN SPEWED GASOLINE ALL OVER MY HANDS, SHOES, DOWN THE SIDE OF MY SUV, AND INTO A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND!!! I WAS GROSSED OUT AND EMBARRASSED (THINKING I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG SOMEHOW). WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A ONE TIME FLUKE TURNED INTO A REGULAR OCCURRENCE. NOW, EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK- REGARDLESS OF GAS STATION, FUEL TYPE, CITY, AND FLOW RATE OF GAS -- THE TANK SQUIRTS BACK AT ME. THIS IS HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. CALIFORNIA JUST DID A RECALL OF SEVERAL AUTOMATIC GAS PUMP NOZZLES THAT WOULD SPEW OUT AFTER CLICKING "OFF". IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS GAS PUMP IN WHAT IS A KNOWN, DOCUMENTED, DANGEROUS, AND HAZARD. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WITH MY CONCERN WHEREIN THEY REFERRED ME TO CHRYSLER. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE I RECEIVED. THE CASE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT NOT ONLY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS INCIDENT BEFORE, THAT WITHOUT A RECALL ISSUED BY THE NHTSA I WOULD BE REQUIRED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A DIAGNOSIS WITH LITTLE GUARANTEE OF ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION POSSIBLE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS PAST WARRANTY. SHE SHOWED NO CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SUPPOSEDLY "NEW ISSUE". THIS GAS TANK ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
AT THE TIME OF FUELING, THE NOZZLE CLICKED OFF ABOUT A 1/2 CUP OF GAS CAME OUT OF THE TANK ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. *TR
I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2008 DODGE NITRO IN NOV 2010 (STILL COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY). I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR SYSTEMS WENT HAYWIRE, THE DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHER FLUID ENGAGED, THE HEADLIGHTS CUTTING OUT AND THE HORN BLARING UNCONTROLLABLY. TURNING THE CAR OFF DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED AFTER 3-4 MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY TO WORK (THIS TIME THE RADIO TURNED TO FULL VOLUME WITH NO ASSIST), THE HEAT CUT OUT AND THE WINDSHIELD/LIGHTS/HORN WENT NUTS. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND WAS ASSURED THEY'D FIND THE PROBLEM. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS, PULLED CODES, BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO TOLD ME IT WAS "ABSOLUTELY FINE" TO DRIVE. I CONTINUED TO DEAL WITH THE 'FREAK OUTS' THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, UNTIL ANOTHER ONE HAPPENED WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP (UNTIL WE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY). I BROUGHT IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO PULLED CODES AND SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT I HAD TO BRING IT TO DODGE. ON THE WAY TO WORK AT APPROX 70 MPH, I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR (IT WAS AS IF I WERE SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES-ALTHOUGH THEY WERE NEVER ENGAGED) I AM LUCKY THE PERSON BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND ME AND NOT REAR-END ME. DODGE DETERMINED THAT THE COMPUTER TOLD MY TRANSMISSION TO GO INTO 'FAIL MODE' THRUSTING ME INTO 2ND GEAR. I PAID FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY TOLD ME A TUNE-UP AND A CLEANING OF THE BATTERY COILS WOULD CLEAR THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WORKED NORMAL FOR A WHILE, BUT THEN HAD TWO MORE INCIDENTS, ANOTHER FAIL MODE ON THE HIGHWAY (WHICH ALSO INCLUDED LIGHTS/WIPERS/HORN). I AM PREGNANT AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR. DODGE CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE 'FREAK OUTS' SO THEY CANNOT DENY IT, BUT THEY CHOOSE NOT TO HELP AND TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE ME TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR
EACH TIME I FILL UP MY 08' DODGE NITRO SXT IT SPEWS GAS BACK OUT ONTO ME AND MY TRUCK SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN NOVEMBER OF 2010 FROM CARMAX. I DO NOT TOP IT OFF, IT'S SIMPLY FROM THE FIRST FILL UP USING THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF. CARMAX SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM AND THEY'RE LOOKING FOR IT...I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, JUST FIX IT! THEY REPLACED THE EVAPORATOR CANISTER AND THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NOW THEY'RE LOOKING INTO REPLACING THE GAS TANK DUE MY RESEARCH SINCE THEY COULD NOT FIND ON THEIR OWN, EVEN AFTER CONSULTING THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP ASKING IF THEY'VE COME ACROSS THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE VALVE OF THE GAS TANK THAT IS THERE TO PREVENT AN EXPLOSION IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. THEREFORE, THE DEFECT IN THE VALVE IS CAUSING THE GAS TO SPEW OUT ON PEOPLE, THEIR VEHICLES AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY'RE NOT DOING A RECALL. WHY ISN'T THIS ISSUE BEING BROUGHT TO THE NATION'S ATTENTION, THIS IS A HUGE HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND THE ENVIRONMENT??!!?? *TR
WITH EVERY FUEL FILL UP I ATTEMPT, UPON COMPLETION WHEN THE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF AND STOPS PUMPING THE VEHICLE 'SPITS UP' FUEL SPEWING IT ON THE CAR AND GROUND. I HAVE FOUND NO WAY TO AVOID THIS, EVEN PUMPING SLOWER OR ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE NOZZLE OUT AT THE END QUICKLY OR LEAVING IT IN TO BLOCK SPEWAGE. IT IS HAZARDOUS, MESSY, AND NOT TO MENTION ANNOYING. I DON'T KNOW WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AS I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE DODGE VEHICLES AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING EVERYWHERE TO EVERYONE. *TR

PUMP WOULD CLICK AND FUELING WOULD STOP AS NORMAL, BUT GAS WOULD SHOOT OUT THE SIDE OF THE GAS PUMP JUST PAST THE HANDLE AT THE RUBBER GASKET BEFORE THE NOZZLE. THIS WAS A CONSISTENT THING. CARS AHEAD OF ME AT THE PUMP WOULD HAVE NO ISSUES AND IT DIDN'T MATTER WHICH PUMP I WENT TO OR WHAT STATION, THE RESULT WAS THE SAME.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT REMOVED ANY ADDITIONAL KEYS AND ONLY LEFT THE FOB AND THE KEY ON A KEY RING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON A STREET WHERE I HAD NO STOP SIGNS OR STOP LIGHTS AND AT THE CROSS STREET, I WAS HIT (T-BONE) BY SOMEONE . 3 WEEKS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED TO GO ALL BY THEMSELVES, GAUGES WENT TO 0, A/C STOPPED WORKING, HORN WOULD BEEP, WINDOWS AND LOCKS DID NOT WORK. THIS WOULD LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES AS YOU WOULD DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS WENT ON FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE I COULD BRING IT IN. ALSO EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD FILL THE GAS TANK IT WOULD OVER FLOW. OBVIOUSLY THE SENSOR TO KNOW WHEN THE TANK IS FULL DOESNT ENGAGE PROPERLY. THE ELESTRICAL ISSUE WAS FIXED AND WAS SAID IT WAS A CENSOR GONE BAD. THIS IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. I CAN NOT GET ANYONE TO SAY THERE IS AN ISSUE, I AM AFRAID THAT A FIRE MAY START OR I COULD BE IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILD AND POSSIBLY OTHER PASSENGERS.

HE CALLS ME AT 1030 AND TELLS ME IT IS GOING TO BE $1100 TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK AND FILLER NOZZLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM NOT HAVING THIS WORK DONE BECAUSE THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. DODGE NITRO 2008 BACK BRAKING SYSTEM - LITTLE TO NO NOTICE BACK BRAKES HAVE GRINDED DOWN TO THE ROTOR ON MY NITRO - THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR 2010 2009 2007 ON BRAKING ISSUES BUT NON ON 2008 I HAVE HAD MY NITRO TWO YEARS DON'T DRIVE IT MUCH HAVE 25646 MILES TOTAL IT APPEAR THAT THE BRAKES ARE BRAKING EVEN WHEN NOT IN USE TO CAUSE THEM TO WEAR OUT SO UNEVEN. THIS IS IN REGARDS TO A 2008 DODGE NITRO RT. WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, SEVERAL OUNCES OF FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT IF THE GAS TANK INLET AND ON TO THE GROUND. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE SPOUT CLICKS TO END THE FUEL FLOW WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. I LEAVE THE IGNITION IN THE ON POSITION SO THAT I CAN MONITOR THE FUEL AS IT BECOMES FULL. THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. I DO THIS SO I CAN STOP THE FUEL FLOW BEFORE IT SPRAYS OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES AT DIFFERENT STATIONS AND IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY/FIRE HAZARD.
