MY POWER SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED AND SHATTERED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD. NOTHING STRUCK THE SUNROOF, THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND, THE ROAD WAS CLEAR AS WAS THE WEATHER.
VEHICLE CONSUMES EXCESSIVE OIL IN BETWEEN REGULAR OIL SERVICE WINDOWS. VEHICLE ALSO SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE IN MOTION WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. THIS SHUTDOWN ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 6 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. OBVIOUSLY A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I NEED TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP IN TRAFFIC TO SHIFT IT BACK INTO PARK TO TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FIAT 500X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE WITH AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A MALFUNCTION OF THE COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HELFMAN MASERATI OF HOUSTON (7720 KATY FWY # B, HOUSTON, TX 77024, (713) 533-6100) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY MAY BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000.
MY CAR DIDN'T START AND THEN FINALLY DID. WHILE DRIVING IT STALLED,ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT CONTROL ENOUGH TO PARK AT WORK . WITH NO WARNING SIGNS I PROCEEDED TO CHANGE BATTERY AFTER WORK AND IT STILL WOULDN'T START THEN AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START WITH NEW BATTERY THE CAR WITH LOCK SYMBOL CAME OUT. STILL AT THIS POINT NO WARNING WAS GIVING AS I WAS DRIVING THIS CAR PERFECTLY FINE UNTIL THIS. ALL THIS WAS ON MAIN STREETS. I HAVE SMALL KIDS AND THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT THAT I WOULD EVER WANT WITH OR WITHOUT THEM BECAUSE OF A TECHNICAL ISSUE OF A CAR.
THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING CONSTANT ISSUES AND THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN WITH FIAT CARS.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, WITH "DRIVE MODE NOT AVAILABLE" WARNING. CAR SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON WHILE IN MOTION. RESTART, LIGHT GOES OFF. SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED BY CHANGE IN WEATHER.
THE CAR RANDOMLY JUMPS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I MUST TRY TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, AS THE DASH IS TELLING ME TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR. ONCE I'VE STOPPED I HAVE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT TO PARK, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT.
THE DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE LIGHT SERVICE YOUR ENGINE; HAS COME ON SINCE I'VE HAD MY 2016 FIAT 500X.
ENGINE OVERHEATED AFTER MINIMAL DRIVING IN MANHATTAN DESPITE SUFFICIENT COOLANT LEVELS. SAFETY FEATURES ARE DEFECTIVE (REAR AND SIDE WARNING INDICATORS) WORK INTERMITTENTLY.
I OWN A 2016 FIAT 500X, UNSURE OF THE MODEL BECAUSE I WAS TOLD I WAS PURCHASING A TREKKING BUT PAPERWORK STATES LOUNGE 2. THE VIN NUMBER HAS BROUGHT UP THE DIFFERENT TWO MODELS DEPENDING ON WHAT VIN SEARCH YOU USE. ONE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, ARE THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS. AT THE CURRENT TIME, IT HAS A BLINKER, REAR TAILLIGHT AND A BRAKE LIGHT OUT. AND WHEN ONE LIGHT GOES OUT, USUALLY 2-3 OTHER LIGHTS FOLLOW. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME IT'S GOING IN FOR REPAIRS FOR THAT ELECTRICAL ISSUE. IT IS ALSO CONSUMING TOO MUCH OIL. YESTERDAY AFTER I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED, SEVERAL LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, PARK BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT, TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT AND THE ESC LIGHT. WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE MODE, A LIGHT WARNING ME THE DRIVE MODE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH. ONCE I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO NEUTRAL. THE BACKUP CAMERA HAS STAYED ON BEFORE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO 2 DOOR HANDLES HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE DRIVERS SIDE KNOB THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE, SEEMS TO BE STICKING LIKE THE ONE BEFORE IT THAT COMPLETELY BROKE OFF.
THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND THE DEALERSHIP IS FULLY AWARE. SINCE THE BEGINNING, THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SAY DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, EVEN WHILE IN OPERATION. IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT SHIFTING AND ALWAYS HAS. THE TRANSMISSION MESSES UP IF I SWITCH INTO SPORT FROM AUTO ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT ALWAYS HAS. THE STEERING WHEEL FELL APART ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND I HAD TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAS STARTED FALLING APART AGAIN. THE DASHBOARD STARTED COMING APART AND THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED. THE TRUNK LOCKS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT, AND ALWAYS HAS. I WILL CLOSE IT AND IT WILL IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK. THIS PREVENTS ME FROM LOCKING THE CAR AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'LL FLY OPEN IF I TRY TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO LOCK. THIS CAN LITERALLY TAKE HOURS! 2 WEEKS AGO, MY CAR ACTUALLY STARTED BY ITSELF AT 10:30 PM. I HEARD A CAR ALARM AND ASSUMED IT WAS A NEIGHBOR'S CAR. IT WAS MINE. MY KEYS WERE DOWNSTAIRS IN MY PURSE. I WAS UPSTAIRS BINGING LAW AND ORDER SVU. I COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO SHUT OFF. IT WAS RAINING AND DARK AND I LIVE ALONE AND I DON'T KNOW MY NEIGHBORS. LUCKILY SOMEONE CAME TO HELP ME ANYWAY. THE ALARM AND RADIO WE'RE BOTH BLARING NONSTOP. THE FUSE FOR THE FUEL HAD TO BE PULLED, TO SHUT IT OFF. THIS HAPPENED FOR TWO DAYS IN A ROW. NOW IT WON'T START. THE BATTERY IS FINE, THE RADIO AND LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS COME ON. EVERY POSSIBLE MECHANICAL FAILURE CODE IS SHOWING UP, ABS SYSTEM, KEYLESS ENTRY, POWER STEERING, REMOTE START, AIRBAGS, CHECK ENGINE ETC ARE ALL SHOWING AS DEFECTIVE. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. POMOCO JEEP CHRYSLER IN NN, VA, KNOWS IT'S A PIECE OF CRAP. INSTEAD OF LABELING AT WHAT IT IS, THEY EXPECT ME TO BRING IT IN CONSTANTLY AND CONSTANTLY BE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. IF I DIDN'T NEED A CAR, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED ONE. I WOULD LIKE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, INDEPENDENT OF CHRYSLER AND IT'S DEALERSHIPS, TO FULLY EXAMINE AND DIAGNOSE THE ISSUES WITH MY CAR.
RECEIVED (2) RECALL NOTICES SO FAR ON MY 2016 500X EASY AWD, 1) FOR POWERTRAIN - CAR SHIFTS TO NEUTRAL UNEXPECTEDLY (WHICH MINE WAS DOING AT THE TIME) AND 2ND FOR ENGINE COOLING FAN MODULE (V54 - SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS AND DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE) THIS I WAS NOT HAVING AN ISSUE WITH AT THAT TIME. BOTH TIMES, THE DEALER SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF RECALL. 1ST RESOLVED DUE TO HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, SO HAVE TO ADD A QRT OF OIL EVERY 2 WKS. UPDATED RECALL WAS SENT OUT ON OCT 2019 FOR ENGINE COOLING FAN, WHICH MY MAKE AND MODEL IS NOW INCLUDED. I NEVER RECVD THIS NOTICE BECAUSE DEALER REMOVED ME FROM THE DEALERCONNECT CLAIM GLOBAL RECALL SYSTEMS (GRS) AND VEHICLE INFORMATION SYSTEM (VIP) WHEN I CALLED 1ST TIME AS NOT APPLICABLE. MY CARS SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AUG 10, 2020 AND DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE ALERT, THROWING CODE P0481, INTENSE HEAT WAS COMING FROM ENGINE THOUGH TEMP GAUGE AT NORMAL LEVELS. I JUST HAPPENED TO FIND THE RECALL ONLINE WHILE TRYING TO FIND WHAT CODE MEANT. CALLED THE FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILE (FCA) RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER THIS TIME INSTEAD OF DEALER AND THEY LOOKED UP MY VIN AND FOUND IT IS ONE THAT IS AFFECTED AND SCHEDULED THE APPT FOR ME WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE DEALER INSTRUCTION ON THE RECALL SPECIFICALLY SHOWS WHICH FAN MODULES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED (BU /FB MODULES ONLY) & WHAT TO LOOK FOR YET THE DEALER NEVER BOTHERED THE FIRST TIME, JUST DENIED ME OVER THE PHONE. WHO KNOWS WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE IT'S CAUSED AFTER ALL THIS TIME AND ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS POP THE HOOD AND CHECK IF FAN MODULE HAS A PLASTIC HEAT SHIELD OR A METAL HEAT SHIELD WITH METAL TOP HAT IN CENTER OF MOTOR INSTEAD OF A PLASTIC CIRCLE IN CENTER OF MOTOR. THIS WOULD HAVE PREVENTED WHERE I AM NOW, UNABLE TO WORK (I AM A RIDESHARE DRIVER), LOSING MONEY AFTER AN ALREADY COSTLY PANDEMIC. NHTSA SITE DOESN'T SHOW THIS RECALL YET WITH VIN IN SYSTEM?
THE SEAT BELT ARE NOT FESTERING GOT IN MY CAR TO GET READY TO LEAVE AND THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT FESTERING I KEEP TRYING TO FESTERING AND FINALLY DID THEN I LEFT AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT POPPED A LOOSE...SO I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TRIED TO FESTERING IT A AGAIN IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE IT LATCH AGAIN I HAD TO KEEP REPEATING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER
LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ON HERE MY CAR HAS MULTIPLE ISSUES. CAR SHIFTS HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. FUEL CAR PROPULSION SEEMS OFF, DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE, DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS DON'T WORK, TOUCH SCREEN ON DISPLAY QUIT WORKING, CAR DOESN'T ALERT ME OF LOW OIL LEVEL, IT HAS SHUT OFF BUT I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S A SAFETY FEATURE WHEN YOUR OIL IS TO LOW SO YOU DONT BLOW YOUR CAR UP, CAR USES WAAAYYY TO MUCH OIL, GAS MILEAGE ISN'T THAT GREAT, BRAKES WERE REPLACED EVER SINCE A LOT OF TIMES MY CAR WILL SCREECH WHEN I GO TO APPLY THE BRAKES, OH AND BATTERY IS BAD LITERALLY JUST REPLACED IT HAD CORROSION AND ACID LEAKING OUT. I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS CAR BUT IT'S BEEN KIND OF A DISAPPOINTMENT. I AM THE SECOND OWNER, I BOUGHT IT IN 2018 WITH ABOUT 45K MILES AND IT JUST HIT 100K A CAR FOUR YEARS OLD SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS IT'S REALLY UNACCEPTABLE. ITS JUST MY EVERY DAY DRIVER I MAINTENANCE IT REGULARLY AND THE MILES ARE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. ALL OF THIS JUST WITHIN 2 YEARS AND 50K MILES PRETTY UNBELIEVABLE. I AM TAKING IT TO A FIAT DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX SOME OF THESE ISSUES
EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2016 FIAT 500X EASY AWD IN 2017, I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH MY HATCH LATCHING MECHANISM. I'LL BE DRIVING ALONG AND IT WILL OPEN ON IT'S OWN, WHICH IS DISCONCERTING ESP WHEN I HAVE STOWED SOMETHING AND THIS HAPPENS ON A FWY, MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR THOSE DRIVING BEHIND ME! DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, THOUGH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CONTINUE TO BE LOGGED ABOUT IT. THEN EARLIER THIS YEAR, I WENT TO OPEN THE HATCH AND THE RUBBER PUSH-BUTTON FELL OUT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK IN THERE BUT THAT ONLY TOOK A PASSENGER SLAMMING THE HATCH SHUT FOR ALL OF THE PARTS TO FALL OUT IN TO THE STREET. NOW IT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE NOR THE INSIDE. CALLED DEALER WHO REFUSED TO GIVE ME A BALL-PARK PRICE BUT DID SAY WHEN I DO BRING IT IN, I'LL BE CHARGED A $165 DIAGNOSTIC FEE WHETHER I HAVE IT WORKED ON OR NOT AND THAT FEE DOESN'T EVEN GO TOWARDS THE ACTUAL REPAIR/REPLACEMENT/LABOR COSTS. SERIOUSLY? I HAVE TO PAY THEM $165 JUST TO DIAGNOSE WHAT WE BOTH ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT NEEDS, BUT WOULD TAKE THEM ALL OF 5 MIN TO CONFIRM & THEN TAKES 5 DAYS FOR THE PART TO COME WHICH I'LL BE KEPT IN THE DARK FOR THAT COST UNTIL HE HANDS ME THE BILL? SINCE WHEN DO SERVICE TECHS GET PAID THE FULL HOUR FOR 5 MIN OF LOOKING - NOT DOING ANYTHING AND THEN NOT EVEN APPLY IT TOWARDS THE ACTUAL DOING?! IS THIS LEGAL?! THEY SHOULD NAME THE FEE MORE APPROPRIATELY THEN, THE JUST BECAUSE WE CAN FEE. I'VE BETTER TITLES FOR THIS PRICE GOUGING, BUT WILL REFRAIN SO THAT THIS COMPLAINT MIGHT DRIVE A RECALL FOR THIS FAULTY HATCH LATCH MECHANISIM.
WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVE THRU THE COOLING FAN WENT OUT AND WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $400. JUST A FEW MONTHS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR ITS SEEMS AS IF ITS NOT CHANGING GEARS PUSHING THE GAS TO ACCELERATE ITS WILL LET OFF A RUSHING SOUND WITH NO MOVEMENTS THEN IT WILL JERK AND ACCELERATE FASTER IT MAINLY DOES THIS WHEN TAKING OFF AND TURNING ONTO ANOTHER ROAD WHERE THEIR IS BUSY TRAFFIC THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A ACCIDENT WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES IF THE ACCELERATION ISN'T AT ITS SPEED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, THE SHIFTER LOCKED, THE BRAKE LOCKED. THERE WAS NO SAFE WAY TO BRING THE VEHICLE OFF THE HIGHWAY. I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO THE GRASS. THERE WAS A SIERRA 1500 THAT WAS BEHIND ME THAT WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO AVOID HITTING ME. THE FIAT DASHBOARD HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS ON, SUCH AS CHECK ENGINE, OIL LOW, OR ANY OTHER INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE DEALERSHIP'S RESPONSE WAS IT NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. THERE WAS NO ADDRESSING THE FACT THAT MY CAR WAS BURNING THROUGH OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE AND THAT THE CAR ITSELF TURNING OFF AND LOCKING UP WHILE IN OPERATION IS "NOT A DEFECT" OR "A SAFETY HAZARD". I SPOKE WITH THE FIAT DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS THE FACTORY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED 1/1/2020. 127 DAYS LATER, MY CAR HAS THIS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS DEFECT. FCA CLAIMS THAT NO BUY BACK OPTION AVAILABLE DUE TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THEY OFFER TO HAVE SERVICE ATTEMPT TO FIX THE CAR BUT THE ISSUE IS WITH THE ENGINE, NOT JUST CHANGING THE OIL. THERE IS NO OTHER ENGINE THAT CAN BE PLACED IN THIS CAR TO COMPLETELY FIX MY VEHICLE. IF ANOTHER TIGERSHARK ENGINE IS PLACED IN MY CAR, THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS DEFECTIVE UNTIL THE CAR SHUTS OFF AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT OR INJURY. FCA'S RESOLUTION IS TO CONTINUOUSLY BANDAID THE SITUATION. THEY ARE NOT OFFERING TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I ALSO HAVE AN EFG WARRANTY THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THAT IS USELESS IN REMEDYING THIS SITUATION ALSO. THE DEALERSHIP POINTS THE FINGER AT FCA TO FIX THIS WHILE FCA POINTS THE FINGER AT THE DEALERSHIP TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION. MY CAR WITH THE TIGER SHARK ENGINE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
MY CAR WAS STATIONARY. SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS CLEANING THE INTERIOR OUT. LISTENING TO MY RADIO. THEN ALL THE SUDDEN A BUNCH OF WARNING LIGHTS START GOING OFF. PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THEM. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST DYING SO I TRIED TO START IT. THE ALARM STARTS BLARING. EVENTUALLY THE CAR SHUT IT SELF OFF. AND NOW IT WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. IT'S JUST EXTREMELY SCARY THINKING I COULD OF BEEN DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD BETWEEN ONE AND TWO. AND OCCASIONALLY THE RADIO TURNS IT'S SELF ON AND OFF. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR USED WITH 43,000 MILES. IT'S INSANE AND INCREDIBLY UNSAFE WITH THESE ISSUES. AND NOW IT'S DEAD IN MY DRIVEWAY. I GET PARKING LIGHTS OUT AND DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHT OUT INDICATOR. ROUGH IDLE ON COLD STARTS SOMETIMES. *TR
ASIDE FROM THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS THIS CAR HAS HAS (WHICH IT HAS HAD MANY) THE MOST RECENT ISSUE WAS THAT THE 'SERVICE ENGINE' AND THE 'DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE' LIGHTS CAME ON. I'M TOLD IT COULD BE A THERMOSTAT ISSUE. THIS ALERT HAPPENED WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND HAD CONTINUED SINCE DRIVING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND IT SEEMS MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. THE CAR SEEMS TOO NEW AND CURRENT TO BE HAVING THESE KINDS OF ISSUES, SUCH AS POSSIBLY THE THERMOSTAT. I WANTED TO REPORT THIS TO YOU DUE TO FINDING NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE. ALSO I HAVE ALSO HAD THIS CAR STOP ACCELERATING AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A NEUTRAL SETTING. THIS SCARED ME TO DEATH AS IF I WERE TO BE ON THE FREEWAY, THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DIRE. THEY RESET THE COMPUTER FOR THAT ISSUE, IT HAS NOT RECURRED BUT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND MY FEAR WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, I'M WORRIED SOMETHING SIMILAR COULD HAPPEN. I HONESTLY WISH THIS CAR WAS IN WARRANTY SO I COULD LEMON LAW IT, BECAUSE IT'S A TOTAL LEMON OTHERWISE.

THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO JERK OR SHAKE WHEN IT SHIFTS SOMETIMES, LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO STALL OR LURCH FORWARD. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE WITH THEM. SOMETIMES WHEN IM DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY IF I STEP ON THE GAS THE CAR JERKS BACK BEFORE GOING FOWARD. ITS EXTREMELY SCARY AS IF SOMEONE IS HITTING YOU FOM BEHIND.
WHILE DRIVING MY FIAT 500X, IT JERKS WHEN IT'S SHIFTING GEARS OR ACCELERATING. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS A BULLETIN CONCERNING THE TRANSMISSION I BELIEVE. BUT WHATEVER UPDATE WAS DONE, IT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I'VE LOOKED FOR INFO REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE OTHER DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID THAT MY COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW. I WENT A GRABBED COOLANT AND FILLED IT UP TO THE MAX LINE. FOR TWO DAYS IN A ROW NOW, I HAVE BEEN HAVING LIGHTS RANDOMLY POP UP ON MY DASH. SUCH AS DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, SERVICE ENGINE, 4WD UNAVAILABLE. IT HAS ALSO RANDOMLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITH MY SON IN THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. WHICH THERE OBVIOUSLY IS. I SEARCHED AND NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR 2016 FIAT 500X, AND THE DEALERSHIPS ALL SAY THE SAME THING. INCIDENTS HAVE ALLHAPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. ON NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS TO INTERSTATE. AT SPEED MILEAGE OF ANYWHERE FROM 15-70MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FIAT 500X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE CHANGED GEARS INDEPENDENTLY. THE DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFF D'AMBROSIO ALFA ROMEO FIAT OF THE MAIN LINE, LOCATED AT 487 LANCASTER AVE, MALVERN, PA 19355, AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMETHING STICKY MIGHT HAVE SPILLED IN THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO BE DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE ASSESSMENT. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CARMAN CHRYSLER-JEEP-DODGE DEALER, LOCATED AT 196 S DUPONT HWY, NEW CASTLE, DE 19720, AND IT WAS STATED THAT SOMETHING STICKY MIGHT HAVE SPILLED AND ENTERED THE DRIVE MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
DURING A NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, MY FIAT 500X'S ENGINE TURNED OFF / STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS IN THE CITY AND GETTING READY TO TURN, SO I WAS AT A SLOW SPEED - AROUND 8 MPH. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND IT SEEMED TO BE FINE AFTER THAT. BUT THIS WAS VERY ALARMING AND IF I HAD BEEN GOING A HIGHER SPEED, IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS.

I'VE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH OTHER CARS THAT I OWN AND IT FEELS LIKE THAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE WITH THEM. THEY FAIL TO SEE A PROBLEM AND SAY THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE 110,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS SET TO EXPIRE IN 10,000 MILES. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE BUT APPARENTLY MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BASED ON THE PROBLEMS THAT I'M HAVING, I FEEL THE PROBLEMS I'M EXPERIENCING COULD BE RELATED TO THE RECALL. I RELY ON MY CAR FOR WORK BUT AM INCREASINGLY NERVOUS ABOUT CONTINUING TO DRIVE IT.
TRANSMISSION KICKS FROM FIRST TO SECOND AT TAKE OFF AFTER STOPS. USUALLY TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE TWICE, THE KICK DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME ANYMORE, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. IT'S A CONCERN SINCE I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED TWICE.
CAR WILL RANDOMLY TURN ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES (I CURRENTLY HAVE JUST OVER 70K MILES ON THE CAR). THERE ARE ALSO ELECTRICAL ISSUES (SEIZURE WARNING SHOULD COME WITH THIS CAR- THE TOUCH SCREEN RADIO WILL TURN ITSELF OFF AND ON CONTINUOUSLY WHILE DRIVING). AS WITH MOST OTHER COMPLAINTS, MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF AS WELL.
MY FIAT KEEPS GIVING TRANSMISSION ERRORS. I TOOK THE CAR TO CONCORD, CA FIAT FOR DIAGNOSTICS 10/2019 AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPORT AN ISSUE. THEY 'RESET THE COMPUTER' AND SENT US OFF. NOW IN 02/2020 I'M STILL GETTING ERROR MESSAGES AND THE CAR LOCKED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD REFUSING TO TURN OFF, SHIFT GEARS, OR MOVE AT ALL. FOR 15 MINUTES.
THE AUTOMATIC FEATURE THAT UNLOCKS AND LOCKS THE DRIVE DOOR STOPPED WORKING. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE DOOR.
THE TRUNK LATCH BROKE AND I COULDN'T GET IN THE CAR. THE MECHANISM PIECES CAME OFF.
I HAVE REPORTED MY ISSUES OF MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WEATHER IT BE 25MPH OR ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE LOOKED AT BY DEALERSHIPS AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. MY LAST INCIDENT LMAO THIS CAUSED ME TO FLIP MY CAN AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH. MY CAR TURNS OFF COMPLETELY, SO THEN I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK ONE I'M ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND RESTART. SOMETIMES THIS CAUSE ALL MY LIGHT TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. MY ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO VIBRATE OUT OF THE FRONT OF MY CAR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE I'VE BEEN REPORTING TO MY DEALER AND THE MECHANICS FOR ALMOST 2YRS NOW. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ( FIAT SERVICE ) TO GET HELP TO FIGURE THIS ISSUE OUT PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD I MAY HAVE TO BE IN A WRECK FOR ANYTHING TO BE DONE. IT IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUES TO LEAVE ME STRANDED . TODAY IT HAD TO BE TOWED IN AGAIN. I AM GOING TO BE STRANDED AND IN DANGER. I WAS IN VAN NUYS , CALIFORNIA IN DECEMBER WHEN THEY REPLACED A BATTERY, THEN FEBRUARY 7 , 2020 IT WAS IN MESA AZ WHEN IT HAD TO BE TOWED IN AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED IN FEBRUARY OF 2021 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING. THE CONTACT STATED SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FIAT OF MONTGOMERYVILLE AS SHE HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT AN ENGINE MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED HER OF TSB: 09-002-17 (ENGINE VIBRATION FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SEAT). THE TSB STATED THAT THE ENGINE MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS UPSET THAT THERE WAS A TSB AND NOT A RECALL WHICH MEANT SHE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE CUSTOMER CONSUMER LINE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED HER THAT SHE COULD NOT FILE A COMPLAINT AND PROVIDED THE NUMBER TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.*DT

THIS MESSAGE HAS ALSO APPEARED EVEN WHEN THE CAR HAS STARTED. ALSO, LOST ALL CONNECTION ON DASHBOARD- NO FUNCTIONALITY WHATSOEVER- TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED NO CODE WAS THROWN- BUT IF ELECTRICAL A CODE WOULD NOT BE THROWN. WAS ADVISED TO WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND THEN CALL TO BRING IN. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I HAD DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT 8 MILES TURNED OFF AND CAME BACK AFTER GOING SHOPPING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. NO INDICATION OF AN ISSUE BEFORE OR AFTER. I PREVIOUSLY HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY ENTIRE RADIO/CENTER CONSOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH REQUIRED A REPLACEMENT AS THIS DEALERSHIP STATED NO UPDATES AVAILABLE.

OF COURSE, CAR DOES NOT RESPOND TO STARTING AND NO POWER BUTTONS RESPOND. NO ELECTRONIC BRAKE THE BATTERY IS GOOD. COOLANT IS NOT TOO HOT BECAUSE CAR HAS NOT BEEN STARTED/DRIVEN FOR 5 DAYS, SINCE JULY 15, 2019. TOTAL MILEAGE IS 10,005 MILES TO DATE! WILL HAVE TO TOW TO FIAT. AT TIMES I WAS AFRAID IT WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING ON BACK ROADS AND WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR TURNS.ON HIGHWAY AND MAIN ROADS I STARTED SMELLING HEAT FROM FROM ENGINE AND COULD FEEL THE ENGINE STRUGGLING TO FUNCTION. HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALERSHIP TWICE. AND PCM/TCM SHIFT WAS REPROGRAMMED (BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE). I TOOK IT AGAIN AND THEY INSIST NOTHING CAN BE DONE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TRIED EXPLAINING IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY BUT I FEAR FOR MY LIFE BECAUSE IT HAS DONE IT WHILE TURNING AND HAVING TRAFFIC AGAINST ME. STILL NOTHING WAS DONE. IT STARTED SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND AT THE MOMENT I THOUGHT I RELEASED THE PEDAL BY MISTAKE BUT IT KEPT HAPPENING I REALIZED I HAD NO WAY OF CAUSING THE FAILURE. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE (ALMOST) 3 YEARS I HAD THE VEHICLE SO I DON'T REMEMBER A SPECIFIC DATE. LAST TIME IT HAPPEN WAS LAST WEEK (05/20/2019-05/24/2019) BUT I DON'T REMEMBER WHICH DAY.
