BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY HARD WHEN PUSHING BRAKES AND WOULD NOT SLOW VEHICLE FOR FIRST COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN ONLY WHEN PUSHING THE PEDAL AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THIS WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A HISSING SOUND. FORD DEALER SAID THE ISSUE WAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER AND A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED BUT WAS STOPPED WITH VEHICLES MANUFACTURED 3 WEEKS BEFORE MINE. THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT I EXPERIENCED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE RECALL AND REPORTED AS THE ISSUE CAME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND CAUSED AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
FUEL TANK AND OR LINE IS LEAKING BUT NOT ON RECALL LIST.
BRAKE BOOSTER. WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY VEHICLE BECAME EXTREMELY HARD DURING THE MIDDLE OF MY DRIVE. I WAS IN A YIELD TO MERGE SITUATION WHERE I COULD NOT STOP MY VEHICLE IN THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME. LUCKILY I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE PART ON MY VEHICLE NEEDING REPLACED IS THE SAME PART UNDER RECALL FOR THE SAME MANUFACTURER BUT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. I AM UPSET THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS PREVIOUSLY DETECTED BUT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL AND I HAD NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAMILY FORD-LINCOLN (909 PIKE ST, MARIETTA, OH 45750) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CALL THE FORD MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. CAR WILL NOT MOVE BEFORE IT WARMS UP IS THIS A PROBLEM. I PUT IT IN GEAR AND NOTHING HAPPENS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED PLATTSBURGH FORD, INC. AT (518) 561-5030 (LOCATED AT 320 CORNELIA ST, PLATTSBURGH, NY 12901) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
AIRBAG RECALL - I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MAY 2018 STATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS BEEN RECALLED. IN JUNE I SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. AFTER LEAVING MY CAR FOR A DAY AT THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET. TODAY, AUGUST 15TH, 2018 I AM STILL UNABLE TO GET THE AIRBAG REPLACED AS THE FORD DEALER DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS. I WAS INFORMED THEY MAY HAVE THEM BY SEPTEMBER 2018. HOW SERIOUS IS THIS FAILURE? SHOULD I NOT ALLOW ANYBODY IN MY PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THIS IS CORRECTED? WHOSE FAULT WILL IT BE IF MY CAR IS STRUCK AND SOMEBODY DIES DUE TO AIRBAG FAILURE?
A FEW WEEKS AGO MY 2010 FORD EDGE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN AND WAS TOLD I HAVE A BAD DRIVESHAFT. MY MECHANIC CALLED FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE OVER 160 DRIVESHAFT PARTS ON BACK ORDER AND WON'T HAVE ANY AVAILABLE FOR OVER A MONTH. IF THERE IS SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVESHAFTS ON 2010 WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON. MAYBE THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.

(101 GEORGE WALLACE DR., GADSDEN, AL 35903, 256-543-9400), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE THE RELATED TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,000.

"TAKATA RECALL" IT'S BEEN 2 YRS SINCE FIRST RECEIVING A NOTICE OF RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT STILL NO RESOLUTION. WHEN I CALL THE DEALER THEY SAY NO PARTS. GONNA BE TOO BAD IF A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY GETS HURTS FROM THIS MATTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (COLONIAL FORD, 120 FEDERAL RD #126, DANBURY, CT 06811, (203) 748-3503) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,400.
WHEN THE AC IS RUNNING, THE CAR WILL STALL OUT. IT HAS HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGH WAY AND SURBURBAN STREETS. WHEN IDLE AND IGNITION IS TURNED OFF THEN ON AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. AFTER APPROX. 35-55 MINUTES THE CAR WILL THEN START. FINALLY, IT IS HAPPENING AFTER LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. I WAS PARKED IN A LOT FOR SEVERAL HOURS, WHEN I WENT TO START IT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHERE IT DID START AGAIN 1.5 HOURS LATER. I FEAR FOR MY CHILDREN'S LIVES.

'TAKATA RECALL' I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND UNSAFE WITH MY FORD EDGE , FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS IT HAS BEEN SHUTTING OFF WHEN THE CAR COMES TO A STOP OR IN IDLE. THERE IS NO CODES OR ANY WARNING SIGNS THAT COMES UP . THE CAR JUST LOSSES POWER AND SHITS OFF ON ITS OWN. I AM TIRED OF FIXING AND SPENDING MONEY BEHIND MY FORD EDGE I KNOW IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT WAS RECENTLY REPLACED LAST YEAR JULY UNDER WARRANTY ALSO I REPLACED ALL TENSIONS AND THE WATER PUMP ALSO SPARK PLUGS . I TOOK IT TO MY MAIN MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT'S THE PROBLEM HE TOLD ME TO GO TO FORD AND I WENT TO FORD AND THEY TOOK 2 DAYS TO TELL ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THE PROBLEM . TODAY I WAS ON MY WAY HOME ON THE HIGHWAY I COME TO SLOW DOWN GETTING OFF ON MY EXIT AND THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL GETS TIGHT AND I CAN'T MOVE OR TURN IT . THERE WAS CARS NEXT TO ME AND BEHIND ME AND IN FRONT I COULD OF GOT HURT OR PUT OTHERS IN DANGER . THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR FORD TO HAVE VECHILES OUT ON THE ROAD LIKE THIS WITH NOT SOURCE OF HOW TO FIX IT OR ANY WARNING LIGHT.
I I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD EDGE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I TOTALED IT BUT THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I THEN BOUGHT A 2010 FORD EDGE IN 2016 AND I BOUGHT IT NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE RECALLS. I HE BEEN IN A REANTAL ALL SUMMER AND THEY FORD DEALERSHIP IN LADOGA SAID THE PARTS ARE IN FOR THE RECALL. I'M NOT IT'S NOT IN THE SYSTEM ANYWHERE AND NOW I HAD TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY HUBS ARE MESSED UP AND MY CAR DIED FROM PARKING IT IN THE SUN. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. BRAKES MAKING IRREGULAR NOISE. PRIVATE MECHANIC ( USED TO WORK FOR FORD) CHECKED THEM AND REPORTS THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD. FORD HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM DOCUMENT 13N02 STATING THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON CERTAIN EDGES PRIOR TO 2015. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD WITH NO LUCK. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE TRACKING THIS ISSUE AS IT SEEMS MORE VEHICLES ARE INVOLVED THAN THEY WANT TO ADMIT.
'TAKATA RECALL'. WAS SENT A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2018 STATING THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER. I RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER STATING THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED SOON TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS IN SEPTEMBER. THIS IS NEARLY NOVEMBER AND I HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM FORD REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. 4 MONTHS SEEMS LIKE A VERY LONG TIME TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT IS THIS SERIOUS.
BRAKE BOOSTER HAD A VACUUM LEAK. MY CAR WAS OUTSIDE THE EXISTING VIN LIST FOR RECALLS AND/OR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM". VACUUM LEAK AND STIFF PEDAL WAS MOST EVIDENT AT LOW SPEEDS (NEAR IDLE AND AT HIGH VACUUM CONDITIONS) FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE MY BOOSTER. I REPLACED IT MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THE OEM BOOSTER HAD RUSTED, WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER SEAL (SQUARE CROSS-SECTION O-RING) MET, CAUSING THE LEAK AND POOR BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. MASTER CYLINDER WAS IN GOOD CONDITION, WITH NO APPARENT LEAK - INSIDE OF BOOSTER WAS DRY AND CLEAN. REPLACING BOTH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER HAS CURED THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN PARKED - IF MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, MAINTAINING FORCE, WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, THE VACUUM IMMEDIATELY BLED OFF OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER, CAUSING THE PEDAL TO RISE AND STIFFEN. INSPECTION OF THE BOOSTER PRIOR TO REPLACEMENT DID NOT GIVE ANY EVIDENCE OF AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM (THAT IS, NO HISSING OR LEAKING SOUNDS WERE PRESENT) THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE APPARENT OVER TIME (OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS) AND GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I FELT THAT I DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT BRAKING POWER TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT LOWER SPEEDS - THUS, MY DECISION TO REPLACE THE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER. IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, THE LEAK MUST HAVE BEEN GETTING WORSE, BECAUSE THE PEDAL WAS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO PUSH DOWN, WITH PEDAL EFFORT INCREASING AS THE VEHICLE SPEED DROPPED (LIKE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN) I AM STRONG ENOUGH TO PUSH HARD - BUT A SMALL OR FRAIL PERSON ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME.
DRIVER SEAT ROCKS BACK WHEN ACCELERATING.
MY EDGE HAS ABOUT 137,000 MILES ON IT AND THE WATER PUMP FAILED WHEN WE WERE ALMOST 200 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. I RECEIVED NO WARNING LIGHTS FOR LOW COOLANT, OR OVERHEATING ENGINE, JUST NOTICED IT ON THE TEMP GUAGE. NORMALLY A WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT IS NOT A BIG DEAL AND CAN BE DONE PRETTY QUICKLY IN A FEW HOURS AND FOR UNDER $500 FOR PARTS AND LABOR, BUT BECAUSE OF THIS PARTICULAR DESIGN IN THESE FORDS THE ENGINE HAS TO BE BASICALLY TAKEN APART AND IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 13 HOURS OF LABOR TO COMPLETE THE JOB. THE PARTS FOR THIS JOB ARE LESS THAN $200 BUT BECAUSE OF THE LABOR AND THE EXTENSIVENESS THIS REPAIR IT IS GOING TO COST ME BETWEEN $1200 - $1800 TO COMPLETE AND THAT IS NOT EVEN AT THE DEALER. NOT ONLY DO I NEED TO HAVE THE WATER PUMP REPLACED BUT BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE IT DUMPS COOLANT INTO THE OIL AND OIL INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM WHICH MEANS I WILL NEED TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND THE COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSHED AS WELL. ALL OF THESE THINGS START TO ADD UP. I HAVE EVEN READ WHERE THIS FAILURE CAN CAUSE SO MUCH DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE THE ENTIRE THING NEEDS REPLACED. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW BUT HAS DECIDED NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND OTHERS USING THE SAME ENGINE. I DON'T HAVE ANY DOCUMENTATION TO UPLOAD YET AS MY CAR IS STILL AT THE SHOP AND I AM NOT EXPECTING TO GET IT BACK FOR A WEEK. I AM JUST PRAYING THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

THE DEALER (RICHMOND FORD WEST, 10751 W BROAD ST, GLEN ALLEN, VA 23060, (804) 273-9700) STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL BOOSTER FAILED, BUT WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE PARTS WERE STILL COVERED UNDER A TEN YEAR/150,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,685.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN UNLESS RELEASED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS VEHICLE IS A TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL, I HAVE RENTAL FROM FORD, AND I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED WHEN THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT BECOMES AVAILABLE. I BELIEVE IT TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. NO ONE IS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THE LOCAL CONWAY FORD OF CONWAY, SC DEALERSHIP DISCONNECTED MY PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG AND HAS RENDERED PASSENGER SAFETY DUE TO THEM DISCONNECTING THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG. I STILL DON'T HAVE A REPLACED PASSENGER AIRBAG SINCE JUNE 2016.

BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE
FORD EDGE IS HAVING A MULTI YEAR PROBLEM WITH THE AWD PTU (POWER TRANSFER UNIT)...FORD SAYS THAT THE FLUID IN THE PTU IS A LIFETIME FLUID, MEANING IT DOESN'T EVER HAVE TO BE CHANGED...IT DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A DRAIN PLUG...BUT IT IS INSTALLED VERY CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, WHICH OVERHEATS THE FLUID EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN...EVENTUALLY THE FLUID TURNS TO A SOLID GREASE LIKE GUNK THAT WEARS DOWN THE GEARS AND BEARINGS AND MECHANICS SAY CAN EVEN LOCK UP THE DRIVE SYSTEM, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. INSTEAD OF A $75 LUBE JOB TO REPLACE THE GEAR FLUID, REPLACING THE PTU COSTS ANYWHERE FROM $1500 TO SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS. MY FORD EDGE PTU JUST WENT BAD AND I'M NOW FINDING OUT THAT THOUSANDS OF EDGE OWNERS ARE BEING FACED WITH THIS DILEMMA ALSO...I STARTED TO HEAR THE GEARS GRINDING WHEN GOING INTO A TURN AND EVENTUALLY THERE WAS A CONSTANT GRINDING NOISE EVEN WHILE GOING FORWARD
