2013 FORD EDGE WITH PUSH BUTTON START MODELS EXHIBITS A SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE, DISPLAYED WHILE THE SHIFTER IS IN PARK POSITION AND VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND PARKED. THERE HAS BEEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED ON THIS 14 DECEMBER 2017, BUT REPAIR OF SHIFTER KIT -PARK DETECT SWITCH, 2011-2014 EDGE IS NOT COVERED AS A RECALL ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS RESULTS IN DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK, POSING A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS HAPPENING RANDOMLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON CONTINUOUS ILLUMINATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN DEAD BATTERY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS TO THE FLOORBOARD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WANTED A SECOND OPINION AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KEN GARFF ST. GEORGE FORD (145 HILTON DR, ST. GEORGE, UT 84770) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RELATED THE FAILURE TO AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 112,000.
I HAVE A HISSING NOISE WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE AND A SOFTER FEELING WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR WHEN I'M IDLING. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN THE PLANT THAT HAD A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO FIX THIS ISSUE, BUT MY DATE IS 6 MONTHS OFF OF THEIR WINDOW AND THEY WON'T COVER IT.
ON GOING ISSUE WITH BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE, JUST HAD THE 2ND BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED FOR A HARD BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO DIAPHRAM FAILURE IN THE BOOSTER, IT WAS REPLACED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ON DAY OF 3/2/2018 MILAGE ON VEHICLE WAS 42785 (THIS BOOSTER WAS REPLACED UNDER AN EXTENDED PART WARRANTY DEFECT) 3RD NEW BOOSTER INSTALLED 3/21/2021 MILAGE ON VEHICLE WAS74757 FORD CUSTOMERS SERVICE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO PROBLEM
SPONGY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO FAULTY ABS BRAKE MANIFOLD VALVE, (AS DIAGNOSIS FROM REPAIR SHOP) WHILE BRAKING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN STARTED THE PROBLEM OF SPONGY, DIMINISHED BRAKING CAPACITY, APPLYING BRAKES WOULD RESULT IN A SOFT FADING PEDAL PROBLEM OCCURED WHILE CAR IN MOTION MAKING LEFT HAND TURN FROM HIGHWAY TO ROAD NORMAL BRAKING CONDITION
I have been having issues with the backup camera on this model. I replaced the camera and still having issues. A warning message is displayed and says contact dealer. I've recently noticed a recall on newer model fords and wonder why there wasn't a recall on the later models since there is the same issue with the newer models.
FAILURE OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS ALLOWS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, REQUIRING A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE AND MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY WIFE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS OCCASIONAL BEGINNING ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AGO BUT I WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. THIS PAST WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 17, 2021, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, IT FAILED COMPLETELY. IN 2014 FORD ISSUED CSP 13N02 TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM ON 2010-2013 FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THIS WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT IT SHOULD BE. MY WIFE NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM FORD OR THE SELLING DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2021, AT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP. WHEN WE DROPPED IT OFF I INFORMED THEM OF THE PROBLEM, AS WELL AS CSP 13N02. SINCE HER VEHICLE HAD JUST OVER THE 150,000 MILE LIMIT FOR THE CSP THEY REFUSED TO PERFORM THE WORK UNDER THE TERMS OF THAT CSP. THAT CSP HAS A PARTS COST OF $200 AND ALLOWS 2 HOURS LABOR. THEY HAVE QUOTED HER $700+. THE CAR HAS BEEN LEFT THERE FOR REPAIR SINCE WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL INITIATED FOR THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH, another vehicle intersected his lane. The contact depressed the brake pedal but it failed to respond. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Hybrid Control Unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts not being available. Additionally, the contact stated that he was informed at State Inspection that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure reoccurred. The low-fluid brake and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a second local dealer, Priority Honda Hampton (4115 W Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23666), where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced for a second time. The part was replaced, however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
CAR WAS SERVICED IN MASSACHUSETTS PRIOR TO DRIVING TO FLORIDA. DEALER RECOMMENDED NEW BRAKES AND AIR CABIN FILTER. NO MENTION OF OTHER ISSUES DURING 99 POINT INSPECTION (REPORT NOT PROVIDED). REACHED FLORIDA AND CAME OFF HIGHWAY AND WAS CUT OFF AND SLAMMED ON BRAKES. HEARD A LARGE BOOM AND TRIED TO DRIVE FORWARD AND WOULD NOT DRIVE. REACHED PARKING LOT AND CAR WOULD REVERSE BUT WHEN MOVING FORWARD WOULD SKIP. HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAD EXPLODED. MOST LIKELY HAD LEAK THAT WAS NOT DISCOVERED DURING CAR SERVICING. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE AWD FORD EDGE. SURPRISED THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL.
EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE DOOR OPEN SIGNAL IS ON AND WILL STAY ON AND I CANNOT LOCK THE CAR. IT WAS HAPPENING PERIODICALLY, NOW IT IS CONSISTENT. AFTER REVIEWING THE NHTSA WEBSITE, I NOTICED THAT 19N09 WAS ISSUED AND I NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTICE TO BRING THE CAR IN.
1/19/2021 HAD ACCIDENT ON I85 HIGHWAY CHARLOTTE NC. WHEN I BRAKE AT 50 MILES FOR TRYING AVOID ACCIDENT CAR DIDN'T STOP AS SOON AS. BUT I HIT MY HEAD FIRST BEFORE THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED.. MY FOREHEAD IS BLACK AND BLUE STILL AFTER A WEEK OF THE ACCIDENT
LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING, SAYING LEFT PASSENGER DOOR IS NOT CLOSED. SHORTLY AFTER THAT STARTED THE WIPERS STARTED COMING ON BY THEMSELVES ONCE THE CAR IS STARTED. WE DO NOT HAVE AUTOMATIC WIPERS. WHILE LOOKING ONLINE TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING, DISCOVERED MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THIS YEAR, MAKE & MODEL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY!
My backup camera continues to not work sometimes it shows upside down or black screen and says I need to contact the dealership. When I contact the place that I got it from it says it's not covered under their warranty in the contact Ford. When I contact Ford they said there was some rear backup camera thing going on and that the recall had not been issued yet?
ISSUE WITH BRAKES AT ONLY 66,000 MILES, HAVINGTO PUMP THE BRAKES, CAR STILL ROLLING WHEN PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR, HISSING SOUND WHEN STOPPED. HAPPENED OVER A FEW WEEKS TIME. THIS IS SO SUSPECT . I CANT DRIVE MY CAR. MY BRAKES DONT WORK. I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE AND THE TECHICIAN TOLD ME THAT ITS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN. The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving over a speed bump and depressing on the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to slow down as needed. The brake pedal went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact desperately depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed down. The contact was able to stop on the side of the road. The contact shut off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 96,000.
BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HAD BRAKES REPAIRED. ATTACHED INVOICES FOR OVER $2000. BRAKES STILL OVERHEATING, SMELLS LIKE THE CAR WILL CATCH FIRE, ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON, TOO HOT TO EVEN SWITCH IN GEAR, CAR NOT DRIVABLE NOW. NOW I'M TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD PARTS ABC CONTROL 2C219 AND ABC HYDRAULIC 2C215. I'M ALSO TOLD THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND IS NOT AVAILABLE.
HAD TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 48,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH. I HAD TO CALL THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THEM COME PARK BEHIND THE CAR BECAUSE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALMOST HIT ME WHILE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A SINGLE SPLIT SECOND THEN WENT OFF. RIGHT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT AND ENGINE SHUT OFF AS A WAY TO PROTECT THE MOTOR. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY SEVERAL PEOPLE. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT IDLED FINE. AS SOON AS I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THIS COULD HAVE GOTTEN ME AND MY GF SERIOUSLY INJURED. REAR CROSS TRAFFIC WARNING SIGNALS GO OFF WHEN NOTHING IS AROUND. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND IS SUPER ANNOYING.
12/18/2020, I DROVE 2013 FORD EDGE TO A RESTAURANT IN TOWN. NO PROBLEMS. 12/19/2020, LEFT HOUSE, DROVE ONE MILE, TURNED ONTO PUBLIC ROAD, HIT BRAKES AND THEY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. NO BRAKING AT ALL. BRAKE FLUID VERY LOW. HAD BEEN FINE THE WEEK BEFORE. MANAGED TO GET CAR BACK HOME. HAD TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID RECALLS FOR THAT WENT OUT IN SEPTEMBER BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE ONE.
When applying the brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge the brake pedal sinks to the floor (soft fading pedal). This always occurred following a quick hard stop, such as is required to avoid an animal or other unforeseen road hazard. Deliberately pushing the brake pedal with another quick, hard application (i.e. slamming the brakes) would then alleviate the soft pedal issue temporarily, only to have the entire scenario repeat itself. There are no warning lamps, messages or indications that there is a problem. The service department at Sunrise Ford in Fort Pierce, FL confirmed the problem and replaced the brake booster in accordance with Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 (occurred on 3/5/21 at 81, 896 miles). Replacing the brake booster did not fix the problem. In fact, the soft fading brake pedal sinking to the floor is now continuous, and happens upon every brake application. This most definitely is a safety issue that endangers the vehicle occupants and all others on the road in the vicinity to include pedestrians. It puts everyone at risk because a soft fading brake pedal that goes to the floor delays the braking action of the vehicle, hence a longer stopping distance and possible collision. I have an appointment with the Sunrise Ford Dealership and I have stopped driving this vehicle until the manufacturer/dealership can provide a solution. A manufacturer safety recall is absolutely necessary.
FORD EDGE 2013 EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS YOU WILL FIND THE BRAKE REACH TO THE FLOOR SUDDENLY. I VISITED THE AGENCY SOME TIMES THEY SAYING MASTER CILINDER AND SOME TIMES HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND BOTH ARE VERY EXPENSIVE BECAUSE MOST OF THIS CARS MODEL ALWAYS CHANGE IT. YOU HAVE TO PUT IN YOUR MIND EVERY TIME YOU WILL USE THE BRAKES THAT YOU WILL NOT FID THE BRAKES PEDAL.
POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILED. COST TO FIX WAS $2,800.00. I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES. AFTER DIAGNOSING IT MYSELF I ASKED THEM TO CHECK POWER TRANSFER UNIT WHICH WAS MAKING A METALLIC SOUND. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS AND CERTAINLY COSTLY CONDITION WITH THIS CAR.
THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILED WHICH COST $2,800.00 TO FIX. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL CAR. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE BOTH VERY COSTLY AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. AFTER BRINGING UP THE METALLIC NOISE A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I FINALLY ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE PTU UNIT WHICH IT WAS CONFIRMED TO BE.
CAMERA BACKUP DOES NOT WORK, THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH, SO IT IS OPEN AND FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
Left rear door ajar light remains on even when door is fully closed. Interior lights remain on while driving. Vehicle is garaged when not in use.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,794.
I LIVE ON A RURAL HIGHWAY, UPON APPROACHING MY HOUSE, TRAVELING AROUND 55 MPH, WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES, THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, ALMOST DIDN'T STOP AND ALMOST TOOK MY MAILBOX OUT, FORTUNATELY I WAS HOME. THE NEXT DAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL NOW GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE BRAKING POWER. I WORK FOR AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY AND HAVE DETERMINED THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE HCU. 2 OTHER VEHICLES CAME TO OUR SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND HAVE BEEN INFORMED THERE ARE RECALLS/CAMPAIGNS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKES. FORD MOTOR CO. SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS COMMON PROBLEM!

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKES AND INFORMED THEM OF A SB REGARDING THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH ARCHIE COCHRANE MOTORS INC. (2133 KING AVE W, BILLINGS, MT 59102;(406) 656-1100) WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE HOSE. THE DEALER STATED THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. THE DEALER INFORMED THEM THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY A MONTH DUE TO BACKORDER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE AND OPENED A CASE REGARDING THE MATTER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
MY CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL FOR YEARS, BUT NO ONE COULD FIND A LEAK IN OUR OIL SYSTEM. WE WERE JUST TOLD WE HAVE A CRACKED TRANSFER CASE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP.
PASSANGER DOOR ADJAR LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH LIGHT ON. A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IN HIGH CRIME AREAS. HAVE RECALL FOR DRIVERS DOOR BUT NOT PASSANGER DOOR.
IGNITION SWITCH IS STAYING TURNED ON AFTER LETTING GO OF THE KEY WHEN STARTING THE CAR.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failed rear-view camera system. The contact was informed that the rear-view camera system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The contact owns another Ford vehicle that experienced a similar failure, and the vehicle was included in the recall. The contact was informed by the independent mechanic to wait for a recall notification for the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
FOR NO REASON THE GLASS SUN ROOF ON OUR 2013 FORD EDGE EXPLODED TO DAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HI WAY NOTHING HIT THE GLASS THE SOUND MAD ME LOSE CONTROL FOR I FEW SECONDS I CALLED FORD DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL THEY SAID NO THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY I SEE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH SUN ROOFS FROM 2008 TO NOW WITH FORD EDGE AND OTHER AUTO

MY REAR/BACKUP CAMERA IS INOPERATIVE AND DOESN'T ENGAGE PROPERLY. ALSO, MY "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" COMES ON ( AND GOES OFF) PERIODICALLY; CODE "402" APPEARS {EMISSIONS} ISSUE!??
VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY SHAKY AND HARD TO HANDLE. ALSO SOMETIMES THE ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE WHILE BREAKING NORMAL LEE
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A DAY TRIP I HAD MADE. MY BRAKES NEVER GAVE ME NO PROBLEMS. INTO I WAS A HOUR AWAY FROM HOME AND IT HAD STARTED RAINING A LITTLE SO I HIT THE BRAKES JUST A LITTLE BIT AND NOTICE THAT MY BRAKES WAS GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I LITERALLY HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND BE VERY CAREFUL UNTIL I GOT HOME. THEN NOTICED THERE WAS NOT A DROP OF BRAKE FLUID. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY THE MECHANIC AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEFECTIVE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000.*CK*JB

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP WITH AN ABNORMAL SOUND BEING HEARD. AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MALLOY FORD OF WINCHESTER (1911 VALLEY AVE, WINCHESTER, VA 22601, (888) 710-7061) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED A MANUFACTURER EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR 13N02 (CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COVERAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.

THE BRAKE PEDAL ACTS AS IF THERE IS AIR IN THE LINE OR THE NEED TO BE BLED. THE BRAKE PADS ARE FAIRLY NEW CHANGED THIS YEAR. THE NEXT STOP STARTS THE SAME THEN THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. THE IDLE ID EFFECTED BY THIS AND THE ENGINE NEARLY STALLS.
THE ABS WENT OUT. BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, A BRAKE LINE GAVE OUT AND WAS LEAKING' THAT NEEDED TO BE FULLY REPLACED' POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED' THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 4-5 MONTHS. THE WRENCH IDIOT LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS LOSE OF POWER. IT HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEN GOES AWAY AND THEN THE CAR IS FINE.
BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE IN MOTION AND PEDAL IS LIKE A SPONGE AND WILL NOT ENGAGE. BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED UNDER FORDS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM IN NOV 2019 NOW OCT 2020 SAME PROBLEM. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE CAN NOT STOP WITH IN 10 FEET.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to apply the brake, the brake pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was slowing down but not as designed. The contact pumped the brake pedal and turned the steering wheel to avoid crashing into another vehicle was stopping. The contact stated that while idling at a traffic light, the vehicle shut-off. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be shifted into park while stopped at a traffic light to prevent the vehicle from inadvertently turning off. The contact stated that the check engine, brake failure, and low oil warning lights were illuminated. The door latches also failed to lock the vehicle whenever the vehicle was started. The doors would suddenly lock or fail to lock as the contact continued to drive. The contact stated that she was unable to manually lock the doors occasionally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the door latch and the brake booster needed to be replaced. The brake booster, master cylinder, vacuum hose, two unknown sensors, and brake fluid were all replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the mileage was past the limit for the extended warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2013 FORD EDGE THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR, AND MADE A HISSING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THIS 2013 FORD EDGE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM LAST YEAR WHEN MY WIFE ALMOST HIT A WALL AND WE HAD A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER INSTALLED MARCH 23, 2019. I WAS TOLD BY FORD IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THAT THEY ISSUED BASED ON MY VIN BACK IN MARCH OF 2019. NOW IN OCTOBER 2020 THE SAME ISSUE HAS RETURNED AND I NEED ANOTHER POWER BRAKE BOOSTER INSTALLED. FORD SAYS THAT IT IS NOT A DESIGN ISSUE, BUT THE CAR HAS 58,000 MILES AND IS NOW HAVING A THIRD POWER BRAKE BOOSTER SINCE NEW. MY WIFE DOES NOT TRUST THE BRAKING SYSTEM BASED ON THIS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS DIRECTLY TRANSFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE MECHANIC THEN SPOKE WITH FOWLER FORD (3400 S SHERIDAN RD, TULSA, OK 74145) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST TO RECEIVE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE REMAINED WITH THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
OVER A YEAR AGO MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD BE CLOSED AND MY EDGE WOULD SAID DOOR AJAR LEAVING THE LIGHTS ON AND ME UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS. AFTER DROPPING A BUNCH OF MONEY THE LATCH WAS REPLACED AND HAS A WARRANTY ON IT. MY PASSENGER DOOR IS NOW DOING THIS AND IF MY DRIVER DOOR HAS A WARRANTY MEANING WHATEVER COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS HAPPENING AND COVERING IT, I WANT MY PASSENGER DOOR COVERED WITHOUT ME BEING OUT ANY MONEY! IT IS HARD TIMES RIGHT NOW AND ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!
MY 2013 FORD EDGE HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH SENSOR. THE SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND THE VEHICLE COMPUTER IS CONSTANTLY THINKING THAT MY DOOR IS AJAR. IT ILLUMINATES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAUSING DISTRACTIONS AND SAFETY ISSUES FOR ME TRYING TO DRIVE AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WORK 3RD SHIFT AND DO A LOT OF NIGHTTIME DRIVING. IT HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO IT SETTING MY ALARM OFF INTERMITTENTLY BECAUSE IT ALL OF THE SUDDEN THINKS MY DOOR IS OPEN WHEN I HAVE IT PARKED. I HAVE READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BY FORD YEARS AGO AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. FORD SENT A LETTER OUT STATING THAT THEY WOULD DO A ONE-TIME COURTESY FIX FOR PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER, THEY LISTED REQUIREMENTS FOR MILEAGE AND AGE OF VEHICLE THAT YOU HAD TO MEET TO HAVE THEM FIX IT. SO EVEN THOUGH I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 35,000 MILES, THEY TOLD ME THAT I DIDN'T QUALIFY. FORD IS NOT GOING TO STEP UP ON THEIR OWN AND BE RESPONSIBLE ABOUT THIS, THEY NEED IT TO BE FORCED ON THEM TO DO SO.
