TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR, EXTENDING THE BRAKING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER FORD SQUARE OF MT. VERNON LOCATED AT 1501 BROADWAY ST, MT VERNON, IL 62864 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
2013 FORD EDGE SPORT CURRENTLY AT AROUND 48K MILES. (TODAY DATE: SEPT 10, 2020). WHILE BRAKING I NOTICED A HISSING/AIR LEAK SOUND,AND THE BRAKE GETS HARDER TO PRESS AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL I SEARCHED THE INTERNET. I READ ON SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL. I ALSO SAW THAT THERE IS A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" PROGRAM 13NO2 WHICH PROVIDES AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON THE EDGE/MKX 2010-2013. I CONTACTED FORD VIA TWITTER AND APPARENTLY MY CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY. HOW THE DOES IT NOT QUALIFY!? THIS IS CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR/MODEL AND IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD!!! ITS MY FIRST AND PROBABLY LAST FORD ILL PURCHASE. HOW CAN A COMPANY BE SO DISMISSIVE OF THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR FAMILY VEHICLE. GREED, THAT'S WHY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR AT THE VERY MINIMUM THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" PROGRAM NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO ALL EDGE/MKX VEHICLES! RECENTLY THE PROBLEM HAS NOW STARTED TO CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO STALL OUT WHEN IDLE AT STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS (ANOTHER SYMPTOM OF A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER). THIS IS VERY UNSAFE! OBVIOUSLY I'M GOING TO GET THIS REPAIRED BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SINCE FORD GOT CHEAP WITH THEIR SUPPLIER OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART.
2013 FORD EDGE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON STREET. VEHICLE SETS A CODE AND NOT CORRECTED. NOW DETERMINED THROTTLE BODY MODULE NEED REPLACEMENT. ALSO HAVE A 2015 FORD EDGE THAT EXHIBITED SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS DETERMINED THE PURGE VALVE WAS BAD. A KNOW NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAD THIS SIMILAR PROBLEMS. ANY FUTURE ACTIVITY BEING TALKED ABOUT
BRAKES WENT OUT ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH BEACH TRAFFIC FULL OF PEDESTRIANS AND PEOPLE STOPPING QUICKLY FOR A PARKING SPACE. HAD TO GO TO THE FLOOR WITH THEM TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS IS A KNOWN (EXCEPT TO ME... I NEVER GOT A LETTER) PROBLEM INVOLVING THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND ALSO POSSIBLY THE HEAD CONTROL UNIT. I'VE PAID $3,000 IN REPAIRS FOR BRAKES ON A CAR WITH 136,000 MILES ON IT.
CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING 65MPH IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY NO WARNING , I AM VERY FRIGHTEN TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES PRIOR TO THE FIRST ONE, MECHANIC HAS NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING . THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A SERIOUS MATTER
MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE FINANCED A 2013 FORD EDGE LAST YEAR 2019. THE SAME YEAR THE BREAK PEDAL GOES STRAIT TO THE FLOOR. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 2020 AND IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BREAK BOOSTER JUST LAST WEEK AND THE PROBLEM STILL REMAIN THE SAME. SOMETIMES THE BREAK LIGHT MESSAGE WILL COME ON IN DAH BOARD AND SOMETIMES NOT. I CALLED CORPORATE IN MI, AND GOT THE RUN AROUND AROUND ABOUT MY VEHICLE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS SITUATION AND THEY WANT US TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BREAK BOOSTER. THEY CLAIM I CANT TAKE MY SUV TO CLOSEST FORD COMPANY TO GET IT INSPECTED FOR FREE. WE SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAID KEEP YOUR RECEIPT. I DID MY RESEARCH AND THE KELLY BLUE BOOK STATES REVIEWS OF THE SAME ISSUES, THAT I AM HAVING. I HAVE CHILDREN AND IS AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT JUST FOR MYSELF AND THE FAMILY BUT FOR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. FORD NEED TO RECALL THIS ISSUE AND THEY DON'T WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK. I AM STILL PAYING ON THE CAR CURRENTLY WITH ANOTHER YEAR OF FINANCING TO PAY OFF THE CAR. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL GET INTO A ACCIDENT AND HURT MYSELF, FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS PROBLEM ANYMORE. PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVED.
HORN DOESNT WORK. CONSTANT DOOR AJAR ON DRIVERS DOOR. PASSENGERSEAT WONT GO BACK.
DRIVING HEARD A CLUNK SOUND AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. GOING 50 MPH ON STRAIGHT ROADWAY. THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE CONTINUED IN LIMP MODE. PULLED OVER AND PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY PUT ON MACHINE TO CHECK CODES AND FOUND NOTHING AND THERE WAS ERROR NO CODE STORED. BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING TO FIX VEHICLE THEY NEED IT TO REPLICATE ERROR. THE WRENCH LIGHT IS OUT, BUT NOW WORRIED TO DRIVE BECAUSE NOTHING WAS RESOLVED.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE LOW ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED SHE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE WHILE SHIFTING GEARS IN REVERSE AND DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLONIAL FORD OF PLYMOUTH LOCATED AT 11 PILGRIM HILL RD, PLYMOUTH, MA 02360, (508) 746-3400, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BRAKE BOOSTER TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
TL* THE CONTACT'S AUNT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS FORD LINCOLN OF ANNAPOLIS LOCATED AT 2540 RIVA RD, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401, (410) 224-2100 HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,995.
DRIVING UP HILL THIS VEHICLE LOSS POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC I LET THE ROLL BACKWARD INTO A DRIVEWAY SHUT THE SWITCH OFF WAITED ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. I RESTARTED PUT IN GEAR AND IT DROVE AS THOUGH IT HAD NO PROBLEM
Purchased 2013 Ford Edge AWD Limited used 12/17 with 68,XXX miles. [XXX] began experiencing brake issues. When trying to stop brake pedal went to floor not slowing/stopping vehicle. Vigorously pumping brake stopped vehicle. Took vehicle to neighborhood shop, was informed of recall 13N02. Contacted Ford National Service center (800) 727-7000, confirmed my car covered by recall. Recall work was performed at Bellevue Ford, 411 116th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004, United States, on September 28, 2020. Recently, [XXX] problems reoccured, this time brake failed and vehicle would not stop at busy Seattle intersection fortunately I wasn’t stuck/struck by other vehicles. Subsequently I again called Ford National Service center and was informed that recall/replacement parts are only warranted for 24 months. My car is currently in shop (for 3 days so far) . It seems that the brake booster that is the recall issue affects the entire braking system and pieces of the diaphragm within replaced brake booster are carried to the master cylinder, thru the brake lines and also affect the antilock computer components. Additionally, the Ford manufactured ‘replacement parts’ are often themselves defective. BRAKES ARE ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY SYSTEM IN A PASSENGER VEHICLE! Obviously Ford has manufactured and is aware/responsible for this un-safe condition. They chose to ignore this situation. It seems Ford only manufactured 129,000 2013 Ford Edges. There are thousands of brake issue complaints listed the internet and many hundreds of Safety issues reported here at NHTSA. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE HAD BRAKE FAILURE TO BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUES. FORD STATES NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL BUT HAVING EXACT ISSUE OF RECALL. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN BRAKES FAILED, TURNING INTO A DAYCARE CENTER.
As I was driving in a 25 mph zone and after I just came to a stop the car would not move then started lurching and I was able to make it into a parking lot , had to have car towed and then was told by mechanic p t u had failed . That cost me 2200.00 And now 17,000 miles later the transmission goes out and it’s going to be 3900.00 . The car is currently at Liberty Ford in Brunswick, Ohio 330-225-9141 Rich the general manager told me to call him but has yet to return my phone call .
STARTED NOTICING SMALL DRIPS OF DARK BLACK LIQUID ON DRIVEWAY WHERE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE DRIP WAS FROM THE PTU/POWER TAKEOFF UNIT. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LUBRICANT CANNOT BE CHANGED NOR DOES THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMEND ANY MAINTENANCE ON THE UNIT. FAILURE OF THE PTU IS DANGEROUS AND WILL RESULT IN VEHICLE DISABLEMENT. THEREFORE THE ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT WITH A NEW ONE THAT FORD HAS ADDED A DRAIN PLUG FOR LUBRICANT CHANGES AT SCHEDULED INTERVALS. THIS REPAIR WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $2000 PLUS LOSS OF THE USE OF VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER HOSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER LANCE CUNNINGHAM FORD LOCATED AT 4101 CLINTON HWY, KNOXVILLE, TN 37912, (866) 591-3943 AND TED RUSSELL FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 8551 KINGSTON PIKE, KNOXVILLE, TN 37919, (865) 693-7611 AND WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATES THE FAILURE WITH MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: ASI-44141, HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, MY BRAKES STOPPED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND MADE A HISSING NOISE WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON IT. FORD HAS ISSUED EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE (13N02) FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT DENIES IT FOR MY CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME MAKE/MODEL/YEAR THAT HAS HAD THE ISSUE. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND ARE DENIED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WELL. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM BUT WONT FIX IT. THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
DURING A TWO HOUR ROAD TRIP, EXITED THE HIGHWAY (65 MPH) AND WENT TO APPLY BRAKES WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, ONLY TO HAVE THE PEDAL GO NEARLY TO THE FLOOR WITH SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF BRAKING. OVER AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN AND GET IT UNDER CONTROL. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. PULLED OFF ROAD, RESTED A FEW MINUTES WITH CAR RUNNING. CAUTIOUSLY RETURNED TO THE ROAD AND BRAKES BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY AGAIN. HAD PREVIOUSLY HAPPENED TO WIFE (FIVE MONTHS EARLIER) WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 30 MPH AND BROUGHT TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID BRAKES CHECKED OUT FINE. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM JUST WAITING FOR A TRAGEDY TO OCCUR.
1. LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE ENGINE TO SEIZE UP. CHECKED OIL LEVEL WHICH WAS GOOD AND CHANGED OIL. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON CITY STREETS IT CONTINUES TO SEIZE THE ENGINE UP AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO BECOME STATIONARY. IT TAKES A FEW TRIES BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER WHEN I TRY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. 2. THE BRAKE ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN DAILY THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL AND NOT ALLOW ME TO USE THEM WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. IT SEEMS TO DO ALRIGHT ON THE FREEWAY OR WHEN I AM AT A CONSTANT SPEED. THEY MAKE A WHOOSHING SOUND AND MAKE THE BRAKES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AND SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO USE THE BRAKES AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND I AM WAITING FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THE LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS. IT WILL COME ON AND GO OFF QUITE OFTEN BUT IT IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES SO THE MECHANIC SHOPS CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THE BRAKE ISSUE IS FAIRLY RECENT WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON OCTOBER 27TH 2020 AT 8 AM FOR THE BRAKE AND ENGINE ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN CAR LOST POWER AND LIMPED ALONG. YELLOW/ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER TURNED ENGINE OFF THEN RESTARTED, WORKED FINE. MANUAL SAID POWER TRAIN LOSS OF POWER. THREE TIMES IT'S HAPPENED AND FORD CAN'T FIND CODE TO DETERMINE PROBLEM. NO CONFIDENCE IN CAR. IF HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS THERE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR ACCIDENT
OUR EDGE PASSED 100K MILES WITHOUT ANY REAL ISSUES. SOON AFTER 100K, WE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS (<10PH). STEPPING ON THE BRAKE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP THE CAR AND WE REALLY HAD TO PUSH IT DOWN HARD TO GET TO A JERKY STOP. OVER THE COURSE OF 2-3 DAYS, WE STARTED NOTICING IT WHEN DECELERATING FROM HIGHER SPEEDS. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE BREAK BOOSTER AND WAS VERY COMMON FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. I CAN'T SPEAK FOR ANY MORE ABOUT ISSUE, BUT SEE THAT IT IS COMMON AMONG THE COMPLAINTS HERE.
TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR KEEPS FAILING. IT WILL EITHER GET STUCK AND STAY ON COLD OR GET STUCK ON HOT AND WON'T SWITCH OVER. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THIS EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS NOW. I SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACING A PART LIKE THIS EVERY TIME THE SEASONS CHANGE.
ON THREE OCCASIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR MAKING IIT UNSAFE TO TRY TO STOP. ON JULY 29, 2020, THIS HAPPENED AND THE BRAKES HAD TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT GO BACK TO NORMAL. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP.
MY BRAKES AREN'T WORKING PROPERLY. VERY DANGEROUS. I'M TOLD IT'S A BRAKE BOOSTER, SOME 2013 FORD EDGE HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT MINE! THE BRAKES FEEL VERY SQUISHY AND WILL NOT STOP CAR QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY GOING DOWNHILL. I'M VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER 150,000 MILES AND 10 YEARS. OTHER 2013 EDGES ARE BEING COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND CSP 13 N02, BUT NOT MINE.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT ON CITY STREET AFTER GOING APPROX 35 MPH AND WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES, MY FOOT WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT THE BRAKES WORKING. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES IN QUICK SUCCESSION. THEN ON 3RD ATTEMPT, THE BRAKES WORKED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES IN PAST 6 MONTHS.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,542.*DT*JB
AT LESS THAN 69,000 MILES, MY 2013 FORD EDGE DEVELOPED A WHINE IN THE POWER TRAIN, NOTED BY MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. I OWN ONE VEHICLE AND I LIVE 13 MILES FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN COATESVILLE WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2013. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME VEHICLE MAKE FOR MULTIPLE YEARS. I CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE ON MULTIPLE DAYS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AVAILABLE FOR MY VIN NUMBER. THERE IS A NOTICEABLE PATTERN HERE, ONE THAT CAN BE TRACED TO THE USE OF FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTERS. SOMEONE COULD DIE AS A RESULT. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS CONTINUING PROBLEM.

Power brakes will randomly fail, without any warning. Safety of driver and passengers, as well as other motorists are in danger with this problem. I'm always sure to lock my doors while driving because of the concern of an assailant entering while at a stop light. However, I'm unable to protect myself because my doors won't lock while the car is in drive. This is massive safety concern for my family and me.
