I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY FORD EDGE BRAKING SYSTEM SPECIFICALLY INVOLVING THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN I STARTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AND HEARD A 'HISSING' NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME 'MUSHY' AND ALMOST TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE BUT THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS INCREASED AND HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO RESPOND. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A TSB (13N02) REGARDING THE BOOSTER. IT DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM I HAD INVOLVING THAT MODEL YEAR AND PLACE OF MANUFACTURE OF MY VEHICLE (OAKVILLE, ONTARIO). I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE I HAD WAS NOT COVERED BY THE BULLETIN BECAUSE MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN QUESTION. I CHALLENGED FORD AND EVEN CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT WAS TOLD EVEN THOUGH MY CONCERN WAS IDENTICAL, IT WAS NOT COVERED. I VOICED HOW CONCERNED I WAS DUE TO THE EXACTITUDE OF THE PROBLEM AND MY SAFE USE OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS REPEATEDLY DENIED. I AM NOW ASKING NHTSA TO HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE ALTOGETHER AND HAVE FORD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR
WAS DRIVING MY FORD EDGE 30 MPH, COMING UP TO STOP LIGHT, WHEN BRAKE PEDAL JUST GOES TO FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE AT LIGHT. TOOK MY A BLOCK TO COME TO A STOP. CALLED DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT CAR FROM AND TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT I WASN'T ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM.
SMELLING FUMES INSIDE THE CAR WHEN DRIVING AND IT LINGERS THE VEHICLES IS PARKED, EVEN SMELL FUMES INSIDE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY. SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST FUMES. IT OCCURS WHETHER I'M ON THE STREET OR HIGHWAY.
ON (4) FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLES BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED WHILE DRIVING. *TR
MY AC IS BLOWING HOT AIR ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND SHIFT TO PARK LIGHT AND WARNING SYSTEM ARE CONTINUOUSLY ON DRAINING THE CAR BATTERY OVER AND OVER. I'VE TAKEN IT TO FORD FOR REPAIRS 3 TIMES AND RELAXED DEAD BATTERIES AND IT'S STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT. I HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR FOR 5 MINUTES TO GET THE LIGHT TO GO OFF AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO GO OFF. I HAVE TO TOGGLE THE SHIFT GEAR FOR A WHILE TO GET THE SHIFT TO PARK WANTING TO GO OFF AND THE ELECTRICAL DASHBOARD TO TURN OFF OR BATTERY WILL DIE AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITH THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GABRIEL JORDAN FORD LOCATED AT (2400 US-59, LIVINGSTON, TX 77351), WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,800.*DT*JB
IT STARTED WITH A BURNT OIL SMELL THAT COULD BE SMELT INSIDE THE VEHICLE ONCE IN A WHILE. THEN LITTLE BY LITTLE GRINDING NOISES STARTED TO BE HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AFTER SLOWING DOWN FROM A HIGHER SPEED. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN STEERING AND A RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. ONCE IN A WHILE AND THEN STARTED BAGGING WHEN I WOULD GO TO ACCELERATE. THE NOISE IS MADE FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WERE INTERMITTENT SOMETIMES THEY WOULD DO IT AND SOMETIMES THEY WOULD NOT AND MANY TIMES THEY GOT VERY LOUD. YOU COULD HEAR THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND MORE SO WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BIGGER FORWARD WHEN GIVING A LITTLE GAS. WAS JUST MAY ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME BEFORE IT WAS NO LONGER DRIVE-ABLE. THIS IS ONLY A 6 1/2YR. OLD VEHICLE WITH 76,000 MILES. APPEARS TO BE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH TRANSFER CASE, REAR DIFFERENTIAL, AND TRANSMISSION.
DRIVER DOOR SAYS AJAR AFTER CLOSING DOOR DRAINING BATTERY ALARM GOES OFF IN MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AS BATTERY DRAINS AND EVENTUALLY DIES.
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS INT HE LAST WEEK. MOST RECENTLY I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 50MPH WHEN THE ENGINE ENTERED A DEFAULT LOW POWER STATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION BY SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR CONSISTENTLY PRESENTS SYMPTOMS OF ROUGH IDLE, ROUGH ENGINE RUNNING AT NORMAL SPEEDS, AND A HIGHLY DECREASED FUEL ECONOMY. AFTER PULLING THE ODBII CODES AND SOME RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CAR'S THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE ODBII CODE IS P2111.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE CONTACT CONTACTED FORD SERVICE 2816 N PINE AVE, OCALA, FL 34475 AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE BRAKES HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN WITH MY 2013 FORD EDGE (79000 MILES), THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH AND THE VEHICLE ENTERED THE INTERSECTION. IT DID STOP AFTER APPLYING MUCH PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY NOW. I AM AFRAID IT WILL NOT STOP AT ALL AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING YESTERDAY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SHE WAS ALMOST IN A ACCIDENT!!! IT WAS LIKE THE VEHICLE DIED. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 44,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST BOUGHT IT WITH 41,000 ON IT. MY WIFE WAS VERY SCARED AND SO WAS I, AS I WAS AT WORK AND IT TOOK ME AN HOUR TO GET TO HER. I DROVE IT TODAY AND IT DID THE SAME THING TO ME, LOSS POWER AS I WAS DRIVING. APPARENTLY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS. I NEED THIS FIXED AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND YOU GUYS ARE AWARE OF IT. SOMETHING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND LINKAGE! I NEED AND WANT THIS FIXED. MY WIFE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WHILE SHE IS ON THE ROAD. I AM VERY ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED IN FORD!!!!
VEHICLE HAD BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL 13 NO2 DONE PREVIOUSLY. AND BRAKE BOOSTER HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. CAR DOES NOT START PROPERLY FORD WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH ILLUMINATES DOME LIGHTS AND GIVES ME 'DOOR AJAR' MESSAGE WHEN DOOR IS IN FACT CLOSED. THIS PROHIBITS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THE DRIVER SIDE, HOWEVER MINE IS PASSENGER AND FORD WILL NOT REPLACE IT. THIS OCCURS DAILY.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD EDGE AWD SEL MODEL, THIS PAST FEB. 7, 2020 AS TRAVELING ON A 3 HOUR TRIP TO NORTHERN NEW YORK,FOR THE MOST PART THEIR WERE NO ISSUES UNTIL I APPROACHED MY DESTINATION WHICH HAD HEAVY SNOW THE DAY BEFORE.I NEEDED TO DECLINE ON A STEEP ROAD THAT HAD SNOW, SLUSHY SPOTS, AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SHIFTED INTO LOW GEAR THE ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN AND AFTER THAT THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY.AND PEDAL APPROACHED THE FLOOR.AFTER BEING A FORMER FORD DEALER FOR 40 YRS. WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE TRIP BACK BUT WITH CAUTION.I HAVE PRACTICED MECHANICS FOR 25 YRS OF THAT 40.NOW RETIRED AND TO IT TO A LOCAL TECHNICIAN, HAD BRAKES CHECKED,WERE IN GOOD SHAPE BUT ON THE CHECK OF THE ABS SYSTEM IT INDICATED A POSSIBLE STUCK VALVE IN THE HCU UNIT WHICH IS COSTLY.TAKING IT TO FELLOW FORD DEALER WHOM I'VE KNOWN FOR 45 YRS. TO VARIFY. I KNOW HOW THE FORD SYSTEM WORKS AND IT TAKES PRESSURE FROM PUBLIC TO COLLECT DATA AND AT SOME POINT ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS MATTER.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN EMITTING A SMELL INTERMITTENTLY, WHICH WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE GEAR OIL FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A GRINDING SOUND WHILE STEERING AND STOPPING UNTIL THE TRANSFER CASE BLEW UP AND DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED, WAS TOLD THAT THIS TRANSFER CASE WAS AN "ISSUE" IN THESE CARS. AFTER REPAIR, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE NOISES AGAIN, GEAR OIL SMELLS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN, AND SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TRANSFER CASE AGAIN BLEW UP, FILLING THE PASSENGER CABIN WITH SMOKE AND DISABLING THE VEHICLE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY LESS THAN 100 MILES AFTER PREVIOUS REPAIR. TRANSFER CASE REPLACED AGAIN, WAS DRIVEN BY THE MECHANIC FOR 26 MILES, AND AGAIN BLEW UP LEAVING THE VEHICLE DISABLED. THE TRUE FAILURE APPEARS THAT THE CAR IS FAILING TO SWITCH FROM AWD TO FWD WHEN IT GETS UP TO HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING REPEATED FAILURES TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AND DISABLING THE CAR PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY AT RISK EACH TIME. FORD IS AWARE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE PARTS DEPARTMENT HAS DOZENS OF TRANSFER CASES AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS AVAILABLE TO CONTINUE REPLACING AND THEY KNOW THAT THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS AT RISK. MY TRANSFER CASES FAILURES HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET (1ST TIME) TURNING LEFT, MAJOR HIGHWAY @ 70MPH GOING STRAIGHT DOWN A HILL AND COASTING (2ND TIME), CITY STREET GOING STRAIGHT (3RD TIME). THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED WITH ON MULTIPLE AWD VEHICLES THAT FORD HAS MADE WITH THIS SYSTEM.
BROKEN SHIFTER CABLE. WHILE PARKING MY 2013 FORD EDGE IN MY GARAGE (HOUSE SITS ON A VERY BIG HILL), MY VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING AWAY FROM ME. ATTEMPTING TO GET BACK IN WASN'T POSSIBLE. MY VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN A VERY STEEP DRIVE WAY AND COULD HAVE KILLED ANYONE IN ITS WAY! AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND THAT FORD RECALLED 504,000 ESCAPE AND FUSION VEHICLES. I DID NOT FIND WHERE FORD EDGE WAS MENTIONED. THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE TO THE PEOPLE WHO OWN FORD EDGE! MY LIFE COULD HAVE BEEN DESTROYED FOREVER IF SOMEONE WAS KILLED OR SEVERELY HURT! AFTER TALKING TO THE MECHANIC WHO FIXED MY VEHICLE, HE TOLD ME THIS INCIDENT WASN'T MY FAULT, THAT THE SHIFT CABLE WAS BROKE AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING ON ITS OWN RIGHT AT HIS SHOP. IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO PUT THE CAR IN THE PARK POSITION. MY VEHICLE DOOR AND FENDER WERE DESTROYED UPON LEAVING MY GARAGE BECAUSE I OPENED THE DOOR TO TRY AND GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO JUMP OUT OF THE WAY OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND MY HOUSE.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS MY BRAKES HAVE GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE. BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED, BRAKES ADJUSTED AND EVEN FLOORING THE BRAKES SOMETIMES DOES NOT WORK. CAR HAS HESITATED AND SHUT OFF AT INTERSECTIONS. RAIN HAS CAUSED SOME HYDROPLANING. CAR CONTINUES ROLLING WITH BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN. I STOPPED THE CAR AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL SLOWLY AND RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME! HELP! NO DAMAGE TO EITHER EXTERIOR, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN NEXT.
WHILE BRAKING, THE BRAKES DIDN'T NOT PERFORM AS EXPECTED. THEY WERE WORKING FINE, THEN IT FELT LIKE I COULDN'T STOP IN TIME. I HAD TO PUSH THE PEDDLE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO STOP. IT CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD, AND ALMOST COULDN'T STOP IN TIME. THERE WAS A HISSING NOISE FROM THE PETAL AFTERWARDS. THE CONDITION EXISTED UNTIL I STOPPED, PARKED THE CAR, AND WAITED SEVERAL HOURS. THEN THE NEXT TIME I DROVE IT, NO ISSUES. I CHECKED THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND DETERMINED. - NO VISIBLE LEAKS - BRAKE PADS HAVE PLENTY OF LIFE - BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR STILL FULL
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON INDICATING THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR IS OPENED EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. AS A RESULT YOU CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON INSIDE THE CAR. I CALLED FORD AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK OR IN DRIVE AND WHILE IN MOTION AT LOW OR HIGHER SPEEDS.
MY BRAKES BECOME SPONGY & GO TO THE FLOOR. IT OCCURRED SPORADICALLY BUT NOW IS CONSTANT EITHER WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR AT A STOP. IF SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME I COULD NOT STOP IN A SAFE DISTANCE. BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL FLAW. MATLOCK TIRES IN ATHENS, TN REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND REPLACED ALL THE BRAKE PADS. THEY CALLED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP CONCERNING RECALLS OR HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR OVER A YEAR WITH A DEFECTIVE DOOR SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR CAUSING THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT TO DISPLAY AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT TIGHT. THE WARNING LIGHT WILL STAY ON THE ENTIRE TIME THE CAR IS RUNNING, WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING. RECENTLY I RECEIVED THE ATTACHED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM LETTER 19N09. AS YOU CAN SEE IT CLEARLY STATES THAT FORD'S OFFER TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE IS FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR ONLY. I CHATTED WITH A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON JANUARY 29, 2020 AND WAS TOLD THAT AT THIS TIME THEIR OFFER DOES NOT EXTENDED TO OTHER DOORS. I WAS ALSO TOLD TO CONTACT THE NHTSA AND FILE A COMPLAINT. IN RECENT MONTHS I HAVE CHECKED ON SEVERAL FORD OWNER WEBSITES AND HAVE FOUND THAT DEFECTIVE DOOR SWITCH PROBLEM IS HAPPENING ON ANY DOORS OF THE AFFECTED FORD OWNERS' VEHICLES. TO ME THIS MAKES FORD'S OFFER POINTLESS TO THE MAJORITY OF THE VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE DOOR SWITCHES! ON BEHALF OF MYSELF AND ALL OTHER FORD OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE TO SEE FORD EXTEND THIS FREE REPAIR TO ANY VEHICLE DOORS WITH THE DEFECTIVE SWITCHES! PLEASE HELP US!!
I REPORTED ABOUT 3 -4 YEARS AGO ABOUT DOOR AJAR PROBLEM. MY CAR WAS IN WARRANTY THEN. RECEIVED LETTER TO-DAY JAN 2020 ABOUT FIXING PROBLEM NOW MY CAR ACCORDING TO THEM IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOW THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS DEFECT. THERE SHOULD BE NO TIME FRAME ON THIS ISSUE. IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT THEY JUST WANT CONSUMER TO PAY ONCE AGAIN FOR THERE DEFECT NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.I WILL NOT RECOMMEND A FORD TO ANY ONE AS THEY DO NOT STAND BY THERE PRODUCTS
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO 5TH OR 6TH GEAR CAUSING EXCESSIVE RPMS, NOISE, AND SHAKING TO THE FRAME AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH. THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS AND CAUSE SEVERE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IF NOT REPAIRED.
THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT HAD THE CODES OF P2196 AND P2198 A H02S HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR IS MALFUNTIONING. WHEN THE REP PULLED UP THE CODES HE INFORMED ME THEY HAD THOUSANDS OF MY SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD WARRANTY AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED. THIS IS HORRIBLE FOR FORD TO KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT ON THEIR VEHICLE AND NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING IT. SO I WOULD LIKE TO LAUNCH THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN. THE AIP HAS GONE OUT IN MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES THAT THE FORD WARRANTY HAS SAID DID NOT APPLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON.
IN SEPTEMBER 2014, FORD HAS ISSUED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" NOTICE REGARDING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON BRAKE FUNCTION COMPONENT. NOTICE ID :13N02. THE ISSUE WAS POSSIBILITY OF BREAK BOOSTER PREMATURE FAILURE LEADING TO UNPREDICTABLE BRAKING PERFORMANCE. THERE ARE 2 SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH THIS NOTICE: 1. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS I STARTED RESEARCHING ONLINE AND HAVE LEARNED ABOUT FORD'S NOTICE OF EXTENDED WARRANTY ON BRAKE BOOSTER PART FAILURE - 13N02. I HAD EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN THIS BULLETIN. UPON VISITING DEALERSHIP, THEY REFUSED TO SERVICE MY CAR UNDER THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY AS MY CAR WAS JUST OUTSIDE THE PRODUCTION DATES COVERED BY 13N02. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS ISSUE IMPACTED A MUCH LARGER NUMBER OF FORD EDGE 2013 OWNERS, WHOSE SAFETY CONCERNS ARE PLAINLY IGNORED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAME AS IS MY CASE. BOTH DEALERSHIP AND THE FORD HOTLINE REFUSED TO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO SPECIFICALLY WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE SINCE THERE WAS NO DTC CODES DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,155.
Door switch problem -even when all doors are shut ,control panel is telling you a door is ajared -interior light stays on --can not lock car with remote --because it thinks door is open . if I try to lock my doors when I try to drive doors will not lock-safety issue right there. now I was informed by ford in January 2020 for the first time about this customer satisfaction problem as they called it . At this time the problem did not happen that often and the covid virus problem had keep us at home . when we were able to go out safely I brought car to my dealership and showed the paper work and the service dept said it is not covered anymore and I would have to pay $500.00 approximately. I called Ford from there and they would not give the ok on fixing it, where they would be able to do while I was there for regular maintenance. I advised them that I was only informed by that one letter in 2020. I have been having them do my service since I bought car in 2013 and nothing was ever mentioned about this problem . and now problem with door is continuous and I feel it should be taken care of by Ford. RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR AN ONGOING DOOR LOCK ISSUE WHERE FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. DURING THE MOST RECENT SERVICE ON 7 JAN 2020, THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO INDICATED AND DOCUMENTED THAT THE PTU (POWER TRANSFER UNIT) IS LEAKING FROM A VENT AND THAT INDICATES IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT APPROX $1,800.00. THE VEHICLE AS NOTED IN THEIR RECORDS AND MY ODOMETER, HAD ONLY 39,100 MILES AT THIS TIME. PER RESEARCH ON THE WEB IT APPEARS THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND DISCONTINUED USING THAT PARTICULAR PTU. WHEN QUESTIONED, THE FORD ADVISOR AT HOLMAN FORD INDICATED HE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY SUCH ISSUES NOR THAT A DIFFERENT DRIVE PART WAS NOW BEING USED BY FORD. FORD IS NOT OFFERING ANY FORM OF COMPENSATION OR CREDIT OR ANY RECOMPENSE AT THIS TIME.

A few years ago, I brought my Edge into a dealership in Shawnee Mission, KS (Shawnee Mission Ford) for the rearview camera malfunctioning. What occurs is, once I put the car in reverse, the camera will, sometimes come on, once I begin backing out, the camera will shut off and a message will appear. On some occasions, the camera will operate, but 9 times out of 10 it will always go black with a pop up message. I want my vehicle to be included in the recall if the backup camera is the issue please.

RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY ENTITLED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 19N09 WHEREIN THEY ADVISE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH ON THE 2013 FORD EDGE SPECIFYING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING AND ADVISING THEY WILL REPLACE THE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT IS MY POSITION THEY USED THE SAME TYPE SETUP ON ALL DOORS ON THE 2013 FORD EDGE, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND WANT TO LIMIT THEIR EXPOSURE BY LIMITING THE PROGRAM TO THE DRIVERS DOOR. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE OR CONCERN PROMPTING THIS PROGRAM OR FORD WOULD NOT HAVE INITIATED THE PROGRAM AND IT WOULD APPLY TO ALL DOORS ON THE VEHICLE AS EVIDENCED BY MY PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DOOR. I DID CONTACT THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS ADVISED THE PROGRAM WAS LIMITED TO THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THE LETTER. THIS DOOR AJAR WARNING HAS COME UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED FOR THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE OVERHEAD LIGHT STAYS FOR 10 MINS OR SO WHEN ANY DOOR IS OPENED AND THEN CLOSED. THE DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL BEEP WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE UNTIL YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THE ALARM AND THE LIGHT WILL STAY ON. THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHT. AT NIGHT IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO SEE TO BACK OUT YOUR VEHICLE. *TR
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, AT NIGHT THE DOORS UNLOCK THEMSELVES, AND INTERIOR LIGHT IS ON CAUSING BATTERY DRAINAGE.
I CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE DOME LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF WHILE THE DOOR AJAR ALARM IS ON. MY DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE WHILE THIS SHOWS THE DOOR IS AJAR. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. ALL OF A SUDDEN I GO TO PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE TO BACK UP MY DRIVEWAY AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. IT HAPPEN THREE TIMES SO FAR AND TWO OF THOSE TIMES WAS WHILE WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC TRAVELLING AT 60-70 MPH. THIS WAS NOT SAFE AT ALL. WHEN IT SHUTS OFF THERE IS A BIG THUD SOUND AND THE TRACTION CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND A RED BRAKE MALFUNCTION LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER THE SECOND TIME THERE IS NOW A RATTLE. I HAVE THE CAR AT HOME NOW BUT IT HAS A HESITATION IN IT WHEN IT IS FIRST STARTED THIS ALL HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 4 DAYS.

FRONT DRIVER DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTION. DOESN'T LATCH PROPERLY AND CAUSES DOOR AJAR SENSOR TO STAY ON PERPETUALLY. DUE TO NOT LATCHING PROPERLY, IT POSES A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER. FORD HAS HAD A HISTORY OF SUCH ISSUES AND HAS RECALLED SOME OF THEM BUT NOT ON MY MAKE AND MODEL.
BRAKE BOOSTER MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING
I WENT TO WORK THIS MORNING AND PARKED CAR I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS AND 8 HOURS LATER WHEN I GOT OFF OF WORK THE GAS GAUGE SAID THAT I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. WHEN I GOT HOME AND PARKED CAR I SMELLED A LOT OF FUMES AND GAS.
DOOR IS AJAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED AGAIN. THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY IS AN ISSUE. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED AT 24K MILES AND NOW OUT OF WARRANTY IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THERE NEED TO BE A RECALL ON THESE DOOR SWITCHES. ONE HAS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE WARNING TO GO AWAY.
SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WE WERE GOING 70 MILES/ HOUR ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT EXPLODED OUT OF NOWHERE. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER THREW OUR ARMS OVER OUR HEAD BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE OUR CAR HAD BEEN SHOT AT. THE CAR SWERVED INTO OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC. MOST OF THE GLASS STAYED BUT WE HAD LARGE CHUNKS FALL INTO THE CAR CABIN. THERE WAS ALSO LOTS OF FINE PIECES OF GLASS FALLING INTO THE CAR. WE HAD A 1 YEAR OLD IN HER CARSEAT THAT HAD GLASS FALLING ON HER HEAD. WE DIDN'T DARE DRIVE ANYMORE, TRYING TO AVOID THE GLASS CAVING IN, AND PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT.

YESTERDAY, I DROVE MY VEHICLE TO A RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH, IT WAS FINE. WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE RESTAURANT AND COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN I APPLY MY BRAKES AND MY BRAKE PEDAL IS SPONGY AND GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING MY VEHICLE. AT THE NEXT STOP SIGN, I STARTED SLOWING DOWN EVEN SOONER AND AGAIN THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES CLEAR TO THE FLOOR. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT MY CAR OFF AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. HE HAD ME RESTART THE VEHICLE AND BACK UP AND GO FORWARD SLOWLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN FELT LIKE IT HAD PRESSURE AND WAS STOPPING ME. I CAREFULLY DRIVE HOME, LEAVING A LOT OF SPACE BETWEEN ME AND VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. THIS MORNING THE BRAKES ARE AGAIN SPONGY BUT THEY ARE STOPPING ME WHEN MY PEDAL IS NEARLY FULLY DEPRESSED. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM LAST NIGHT AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2013 FORD EDGE BRAKE BOOSTER BUT WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING THEY INFORM ME THAT MY 2013 FORD EDGE IS NOT INCLUDED. THERE A THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE BRAKES ON THESE VEHICLES AND FORD IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES OR MAKING THE PROBLEM RIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO FIX IT. A VEHICLES BRAKES SHOULD NOT JUST FAIL WHILE PARKED FOR 45 MINUTES DURING LUNCH.
