MY CAR TELLS ME MY DOOR IS AT AJAR BUT IT'S NOT
DURING A RECENT SNOW FALL. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN I WENT TO STOP THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED DUE THE THE SNOWY ROAD CONDITIONS. FROM THEM ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS GONE TO THE FLOOR WITH OUT RETURNING BACK TO NORMAL. I DID HAVE THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AND FOUND OUT THE PADS AND ROTORS ARE FINE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANY ISSUES AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE COMPUTER LOOKED AT. BECAUSE THE REPAIR SHOP DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO FORD SOFTWARE.
WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET, THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. BRAKE PRESSURE WAS LOST AND ONLY BY DEPRESSING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR COULD A SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKING POWER BE APPLIED. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AND NO NOISES, HISSING, ECT WERE HEARD. THE ISSUE OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN THE SAME LOCATION IN THE SPAN OF A MONTH. AFTER TWO INCIDENTS, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SUSPECTED THE BRAKE BOOSTER MAY BE FAILING. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT CONFIRM AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT WE ELECTED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AS FUNCTIONAL BRAKES ARE ESSENTIAL AND A BOOSTER RECALL HAS OCCURRED FOR THIS VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH THIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF THE REPAIR, THE EXACT ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN IN THE SAME SPOT, SO THE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT CLEARLY DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH NEWLY REPLACED PADS AND ROTORS AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE BRAKES STARTED WORKING NORMALLY AND CONTINUED WORKING NORMALLY AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER SHORTLY TO ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
DOOR AJAR PROBLEM
VEHICLE EXHIBITS ILLUMINATED DOME LIGHTS AND DOOR AJAR MESSAGES WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED AND FULLY LATCHED. RIGHT REAR DOOR. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND DOME LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE STAYED ON WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND A HIGH-PITCHED WHISTLING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING. DURING THE FAILURE, THE LOW PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER (13N02). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE RANDOMLY STALLS DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M TURNING GOING SLOW OR STRAIGHT AND GOING FAST. THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL SHOW UP. I USUALLY STOP, SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTART IT. IT'S PRETTY FRIGHTENING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE THE THROTTLE BOTTLE. GOT THAT CLEANED UP WHICH WAS TO DIRTY AND STILL STALLING.
BRAKE CYLINDER BOOSTER SYSTEM FAILURE. VEHICHLE VIN NOT INCLUDED IN PREVIOUS RECALLS. CAR WOULD NOT BRAKE; HISSING SOUNDS; HAD TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH BRAKE TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE OR SAFE IN A CITY WITH THE TRAFFIC WE HAVE IN HOUSTON. INDEPENDENT DEALER ESTIMATE TO FIX EXCEEDS $1200. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR CONTINUED BRAKE ISSUES.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER DEVELOPED AN INTERNAL BYPASS LEAK, AT TIMES THE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR WHILE ATTEMPTOING TO STOP, OTHER TIMES THE PEDAL WOULD FADE WHILE SITTING STOPPED WITH FOOT ON PEDAL. BARKE VACUUM BOOSTER DIAPHRAM DEVELOPED A LEAK CAUSING A HARD PEDAL AND VACUUM LEAK WHEN THE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. VACUUM LEAK CAUSED SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES MADE A WHISTLING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED EDWARDS AUTO SALES CO (3440 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, WEST UNION, SC 29696, (877) 365-4221) AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE TO THE PARTS DEPARTMENT WHO AGREED THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 24642713. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000.
DRIVER'S SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH WITH VEHICLE MOTION. SEAT IS POWER WITH MEMORY. DEALER STATES THAT ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO RECALL OR TSB. QUOTED $1600 FOR REPLACEMENT. SEAT HAS NOW BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD UNDER BRAKING CONDITIONS, AND AFT UNDER ACCELERATION. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION THAT COULD BE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO AN ACCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF THE SEAT TRACK, THE GUIDE RAILS HAVE BEGAN SEPERATING AND HAVE BECOME LOOSE.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the rearview camera displayed a blank screen and was glitching. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rearview camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 108,000.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE CAUSING DECREASED STOPPING POWER. FORD RELEASED A BULLETIN 13N02 COVERING THIS VEHICLE UP UNTIL MARCH OF 2013. VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY OF 2013 AT SAME PLANT. CALLING THEM, THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER. MY VEHICLE HAS 128K MILES ON IT AND THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BULLETIN FOR 10 YEARS 150000 MILES DUE TO THE HIGH RATE OF FAILURES AND SAFETY ISSUES. DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER CARE ARE UNWILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED LONGER THAN THEIR CUT OFF DATES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60MPH . DURING TRAFFIC, AS THE BRAKES BOOSTER FAILED DURING NORMAL STOPPING IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC, MY WIFE HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER AS SHE PUMPED HER BRAKES TO TRY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY HER EXPERIENCE ALLOWED HER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE LOCAL SERVICE STATION, FOUND THAT THE BOOSTER HAD FAILED, BUT WAS A FEW MONTHS OUT FROM FORDS SUPPLEMENT DATE. I'M ASKING THAT THE NHTSA REVIEW THE PROBLEM AND WILL BE SAVING PARTS AND SERVICE REPAIRS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION IF NEEDED.
I DROVE FOR OVER 8 HOURS WITH THE SEAT WARMER ON HIGH AND I LITERALLY BURNED MY BOTTOM. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GO TO AN URGENT CARE A FEW DAYS LATER WHERE THEY PRESCRIBED ANTIBIOTICS AND A PRESCRIBED OINTMENT. IT HAD A BUG BLISTER WHICH BROKE AND NOW OPEN WOUND. IT IS DEFINITELY A BURN AND NOW TREATING FOR WOUND CARE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 EDGE (148,000 MILES), WHEN GOING TO APPLY THE BREAK IT SUDDENLY DID NOT WANT TO BREAK CAUSING ME TRY TO VEER FROM TRAFFIC TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. NEVER HAD A WARNING OR ISSUE BEFORE THIS.THE PEDAL WILL THEN GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. EDGE HAS AN FSA ITEM FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE BREAK BOOSTER. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BAD. THE MECHANICS I SPOKE TO STATE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER GO HAND IN HAND SO TO SPEAK YET FORD STATES THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT ONLY THE BRAKE BOOSTER. UPON LOOKING UP CUSTOMER ISSUES FOR THIS I SAW THE 2011-2013 F150S HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AND BOTH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE BEING REPLACED BY FORD AT NO CHARGE. WHY NOT THE EDGE? IT IS CLEARLY HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND MY BRAKES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS BAD, YET THE ABS LIGHT HAS NOT TURNED ON AND I AM NOT SURE THIS IS ACCURATE AS PRIOR TO TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER.
WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 2 IN WENATCHEE, WA AT 5PM ON OCTOBER 2, 2019 MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME. THERE WERE NO OVERPASSES OR CARS NEAR ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE WEATHER WAS PARTLY CLOUDY AND AROUND 72 DEGREES. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CONFIRMED A FUEL LEAK AND FUEL EVAP FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V002000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, THE IMAGE DISPLAYED ON THE BACK OVER PREVENTION SCREEN WAS UPSIDE DOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CONTACTED A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
The rear view camera displays either a blank, distorted, or upside down image. This issue is identical to the recall notice 25V572, for a 2016 Ford Edge, which we also own. My son received his drivers license three months ago. While he realizes he must turn and look, the back up camera is an invaluable tool to prevent backing accidents. We have shown a dealer previously and were quoted a price that is too expensive for us to repair. The camera system was looked at by a service advisor. Ironically, the advisor remarked that this is a common issue with 2013 Edges. There is a caution triangle that periodically appears that reads back up camera is disabled, or something to that effect.
VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR, BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND IMMEDIATELY THE BRAKES WERE EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH ON. LUCKILY I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, BUT MY BRAKES FAILED, AND I HAD TO HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO MAKE THE CAR STOP. I HAD A 1 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR, AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO, I HAD NOTICED EARLIER THAT WHEN I WAS IN DRIVE, BUT SITTING AT A LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD SHAKE. A MINUTE LATER, THE CAR DIED.
THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION (ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS), USUALLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR TURNING. I LOST STEERING CONTROL AS WELL. THE ERROR "LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE" APPEARED ON PANEL. AFTER PUTTING CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR, IT USUALLY WOULD RESTART RIGHT AWAY. ON ONE OCCASION, IT TOOK 2 ATTEMPTS TO START IT. FORTUNATELY, THERE WEREN'T ANY CARS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME OR IT WOULD'VE LIKELY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. A MECHANIC CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, REPLACED A PLUG, AND REPLACED A MISFIRING CYLINDER. THE ISSUE HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN IN THE 2 DAYS SINCE THEN.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON WHICH MAKES THEE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, WHEN THIS WARNING HAPPENS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. TONIGHT, IT WAS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN THIS WARNING HAPPENED AFTER DARK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON WHILE DRIVING HOME WHICH IS A 20 MINUTE COMMUTE. IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING OUTSIDE THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRY TRYING TO DODGE DEER BECOMES 100% HARDER WITH INTERIOR LIGHTS ON.
WHEN GOING TO BREAK, BREAK PEDAL GOES HALF WAY DOWN AND THEN STOPS, ALL WHILE CAR IS STILL MOVING. BECOMES HARD TO PUSH. WHILE APPLYING BREAK, THERE IS A HISSING NOISE. CAR STALLS WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. AT TIME IS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH MY CAR WITH MY 8 YEAR OLD IN IT. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. UPON TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC, THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH A FAILING BREAK BOOSTER. DEALER STATED MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 13N02 EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS A 2013 AND WAS PRODUCED IN OAKVILLE CANADA. I HAVE SEEN THOUSAND OF CLAIMS/COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT OBVIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND THE 13N02 NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED OUT TO MORE MODELS OF THE FORD EDGE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BACK IN APRIL SO THAT ME AND MY SON ARE SAFER WHILE OUT ON THE ROAD, UNFORTUNATELY NOW I AM STUCK WITH AN UNSAFE CARE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER THE 13N02 EXTENDED WARRANTY.
BRAKES STARTED TO MAKE HISSING NOISE. BROUGHT TO MECHANIC TO FIND A FAILED BRAKE BOOSTER. CONTACTED FORD BECAUSE IT IS PART OF EXTENDED WARRANTY. WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT IF THE BRAKES BECOMES HARD I WAS TO 'MASH ON THE BRAKES AND MY CAR WOULD STOP'. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION WHEN NEEDED AND THE VEHICLE TOOK SOME TIME TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ONCE OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT MEET THE GUIDELINES TO QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I APPLIED THEM AFTER EXITING INTERSTATE AND PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. IT WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER AND HCU WERE ALL REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD MULTIPLE TIMES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED LATER THAT DAY. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT LOW; HOWEVER, SHE DECIDED TO ADD MORE BRAKE FLUID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,296.
BRAKES MAKE A NOISE LIKE AIR IS COMING OUT WHEN I'M PUSHING ON THEM. HAD THEM CHECKED OUT BY A GARAGE AND THEY SAID THE PAD AND ROTORS LOOK GOOD. HOWEVER, STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IMMEDIATE STOPS WHEN GOING DOWN MY INCLINED DRIVEWAY. BRAKES FEEL SPONGY AND NOT TOUCHY. ALSO, RECENTLY, SITTING IN A DRIVE THROUGH LINE AND AFTER IDLING STATIONARY FOR A FEW MINUTES WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR TURNED OFF. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. IT'S A 2013 FORD EDGE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR 40 MILES IT COMPLETELY DIED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT CAME BACK NOTHING. THE CAR WAS GIVING BACK TO ME AND IT HAD THE WARNING FLASHING ON THE DASH WITH THE WRENCH . I TOOK SEVERAL PICTURES. DRIVING WEST ON I-40 DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I PAID FOR THIS REPAIR AND SEE THIS EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. SEVERAL MONTH LATER THE BRAKES FELT LIKE I WAS PUSHING ON A BRICK. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP,. THE FORD COMPANY HAS A RECAL ON THE BRAKE BOASTER AND I WAS TOLD TO PAY 900.00 AND MAYBE SOME TIME THEY WILL INCLUDE MY 2013 FORD EDGE. SEPT 16 2019 , THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR WILL RANDOMLY SET THE CARS ALARM OFF SAYING THE DOOR IS OPENED WHEN IN FACT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY ONCE, NEEDING A NEW REPLACEMENT. I REPLACED THE DOOR SWITCH BECAUSE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS BAD ($400) AND IT STILL RANDOMLY GOES OFF. THIS ISSUE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED.
THIS CAR IS HORRIBLE. MULTIPLE SAFETY ISSUES! FIRST, MY AXLE NEEDS TO BE REDONE. CLICKING AND POPPING WITH ALL TURNS. SECONDLY, THE ELECTRONICS ARE HAYWIRE, WITH THE AC BLOWING HOT ON ONE SIDE AND COLD ON THE OTHER AND NOT STARTING WITH BRAND NEW BATTERIES. THIRD, THE BRAKE SYSTEM... HAD THE BOOSTER GO OUT. FORD REPLACED AND UPON THE DRIVE BACK, IT FAILED EVEN WORSE LOCKING MY ENGINE, SMOKE FROMTHE BRAKES BEING LOCKED UP. I HAD TO TOW BACK ON MY EXPENSE AND RENT A CAR FOR DAYS. THE REPLACED THE BOOSTER, BUT I STILL HAVE EVEN WORSENING BRAKE ISSUES. FORD TOLD ME I NEED A NEW ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER. IT ONLY DID THIS AFTER THE 2 FAILED BOOSTERS... NOW IF I HIT A BUMP OR GRAVEL WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKES, MY BRAKES GO OUT! I MEAN THEY FAIL! LUCKILY I HAVEN'T HIT ANYONE YET. IT'S OFF AND ON BUT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING. THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THERE'S THE CONSTANT SOUND OF HISSING AND AIR. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH IS HORRIBLE AND TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEAVE WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEXT UNEXPECTED BLOW OUT ON THE BRAKES. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GOOGLE THIS MODEL AND THERE ARE TONS AND TONS OF REPORTS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS AND FIX TO AVOID INJURIES, DEATH AND LAWSUITS. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY CAR UNTIL OTHER THAN THE INITIAL BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE, UNTIL MY CAR WAS LEFT WITH SMOKE ALL UNDER MY CAR FROM THE SECOND BRAKE BOOSTER. I GOT ONE THING FIXED ONLY TO HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS AFTER. HOW IS THAT FAIR? OBVIOUSLY FORD DIDN'T FIX CORRECTLY AND/OR GAVE ME BAD EQUIPMENT WHICH BURNED MY SYSTEM UP. NOW I NEED TO PAY FOR MY ABS TO BE FIXED? SHAME ON FORD! VERY DANGEROUS. WILL NEVER BUY FORD AGAIN. AT LEAST THE FOREIGN CARS STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS. BUYERS BEWARE THE EDGE IS TAINTED.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING ALARM ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED CAR HAS APPROX. 38,000 MILES AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. FORD DEALER WANTS $743 DOLLARS TO FIX!. SHOULD BE A RECALL.
WHILE TURNING INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, MY BRAKES SUDDENLY HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR. THE ISSUE CONTINUED FOR AN HOUR OF DRIVING, AND MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE HAVING TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. ONCE WE DETERMINED THE CAR NEEDED REPAIR, WE DROVE (CAREFULLY) TO A REPAIR CENTER AND THE TECH WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. ON THE DRIVE OVER TO THE SHOP, THE BRAKE FUNCTION GRADUALLY RETURNED TO NORMAL.
THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. DRIVING AT 45MPH CAR SUDDENLY SLOWS TO 2 MPH. SHUT OFF CAR START AGAIN, SAME THING HAPPENS. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. FORD HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON EARLIER FORD EDGE MODELS BUT DOES NOT ON THE 2013 EDGE. THIS IS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AND REPAIR ( FORD SERVICE DIAGNOSED) AT A COST OF $600.00. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO OCCUR SUDDENLY SLOWING TO A CRAWL IN FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL.
THE DOOR SENSOR TO LET THE CAR KNOW THE DOOR WAS CLOSED, FAILED, RESULTING IN A CONSTANT "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE. THIS OCCURRED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND STARTED SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR (USED) IN 2017 AND WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. FOR THE BETTER PART OF THE PAST 2 YEARS I WAS ABLE TO REPEATEDLY OPEN/CLOSE THE DOOR UNTIL THE SENSOR RECOGNIZED THAT THE DOOR WAS ACTUALLY CLOSED, BUT THAT NO LONGER BECAME AN OPTION AS OF 9/9/2019. NO MATTER HOW MANY ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO OPEN/CLOSE THE DOOR, I COULD NO LONGER MANIPULATE THE SENSOR. TWO IMPACTS OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THIS: 1. THE CAR DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. SINCE THE CAR BELIEVED THE DOOR WAS AJAR, EVERY TIME YOU WOULD GO TO LOCK THE DOORS, THE CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK THEM. THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE. 2. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED LIT, RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO SPEND APPROXIMATELY $350 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM EDGE OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, YET FORD IS NOT BEING HELD LIABLE FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT. THIS IS AN UNFAIR EXPENSE TO PASS ON TO THE CONSUMER. IF THE ISSUE IS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A "RECALL", THE LEAST THAT COULD BE DONE IS FOR THE ISSUE TO BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE BY FORD, IF/WHEN THE ISSUE ARISES FOR THE OWNER.
BRAKE FAILURE ON A 2013 FORD EDGE. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AS I APPROACHED STOPPED TRAFFIC ON I-26 EAST BOUND. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE CAR COMPLETELY. I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND IT SLOWLY BEGAN TO STOP. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED AT THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD ANY TYPE OF BRAKE PROBLEM. IT HAS AROUND 50,000 MILES. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO MY MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. IN THE MEAN TIME I LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I DID FIND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM EDGE OWNERS THAT EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. MY MECHANIC LATER INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCATION OF THESE PARTS REQUIRES A LOT OF LABOR TO REPLACE THEM. TOTAL COST $1,375.
CHECK FUEL INLET CAME ON. THEN ENGINE LIGHT SEVERAL DAYS LATER. THE GAS GAUGE WILL NOT READ THE LEVEL OF GAS. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON. THE DEALER SAID IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER EMISSONS. AND IT SURE IS. THESE FUMES ARE GETRING IN THE AIR. AND THE VALVE IS NOT WORKING CAUSING THE GAS CAN TO GET METAL WHICH WILL IN TURN TEAR THIS UP .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY FORD (LOCATED AT 2104 PETERS CREEK PKWY, WINSTON-SALEM, NC 27127, (877) 836-4271) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
HAD IT IN TO HAVE VACUUM LEAK TAKEN CARE OF AND THEY TOLD ME MY VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD AND NOT DRIVE IT IN CASE IT WON'T STOP AT ALL. FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILURE. SYMPTOMS COULD NOT CLOSE DOOR. LATCH MECHANISM WAS FREE TO MOVE, BUT WOULD NOT LOCK INTO PLACE WHEN DOOR CLOSED. DOOR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, UNLOCKED CAR, OPENED DOOR, ENTERED VEHICLE, TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR. DOOR WOULD JUST NOT LATCH CLOSED. MANUALLY MOVED DOOR LATCH MECHANISM BACK AND FORTH. ON OTHER DOORS, THE LATCH WOULD LOCK INTO PLACE, AND COULD BE 'UNLOCKED' BY OPENING USING DOOR HANDLE. ON AFFECTED DOOR, THE LATCH WOULD ONLY MOVE BACK AND FORTH FREELY. TOOK TO FORD DEALER TODAY. DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY LATCH ASSEMBLY. APPROXIMATELY $250 FOR THE PART, AND $250 FOR LABOR.
SEAT REAL EASE FOR REAR SEATS DOESN'T WORK. READING FORUMS MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE ISSUE AND THE FIX REQUIRES REMOVING SEATS AND REPLACING THE CABLE ON THE RELEASE MECHANISM. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS I DIDN'T WANT TO REMOVE AND REPLACE SEAT BY MYSELF.

DRIVERS SEAT ROCKS BACKWARDS ABOUT 5 INCHES UPON ACCELERATION AND ROCKS FORWARD WHEN STOPPING. WHEN IT ROCKS BACKWARDS YOU FEEL AS IF THE SEAT IS GOING TO GO OVER BACKWARDS AND YOU PANIC FOR A SECOND BEFORE RECOVERING. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGE DRIVER SEATS.
DRIVING ON COUNTY ROAD, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED. WRENCH SYMBOL LIT UP ON DASH. THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT BUT ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING.TOWED TO A GOODYEAR SERVICE STATION: THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND THE SENSORS SHOWED NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. ON THE WAY HOME IT DID THE SAME THING. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY, CAR STARTS BACK UP. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER. THEY TOO SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AND THAT WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF IT CLEARS THE COMPUTER. THEY RETURNED THE CAR BUT CHARGED $140. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TWO DAYS LATER. CALLED FORD FROM SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEY SAID THEIR TRANSMISSION GUY WAS OFF UNTIL TUESDAY (THIS WAS FRIDAY AFTERNOON). DROVE ABOUT 8 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES. I HAVE READ THAT MANY FORD EDGE'S HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ETB BUT AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL.
