THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH LATCHES BUT THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS THE DOOR IS AJAR....MAKING ME LEARY IF THE DOOR WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING.....HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND DRIVING
MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT TO PRESS, CAUSING LONGER STOP TIMES. THIS WOULD HAPPEN RANDOMLY, BUT MULTIPLE TIMES EVERY DAY. FOR SAFETY REASONS, I HAD TO LEAVE AMPLE SPACE IN FRONT OF ME, AND COULD NOT LET MY CHILDREN DRIVE MY CAR. WHEN I SPOKE TO MY MECHANIC, HE TOLD ME IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. FORD CURRENTLY HAS A "PROGRAM" (13N02) FOR REPLACING THE BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURING DATES INVOLVED. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 2 MONTHS LATER THAN THE THE DATES INVOLVED. I HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED ON MY OWN, AND FORD WOULD NOT GIVE ME ANY COMPENSATION FOR THE FAULTY PART.
BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY HARD TO DEPRESS. REQUIRED EXTRA PRESSURE AND INCREASED BRAKING DISTANCE. WAS TOLD BY FORD DEALERSHIP. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO CAUSE IT OR PREVENT IT. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER FOR $900.00
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE GOSCH FORD HEMET LOCATED AT 150 CARRIAGE CIR, HEMET, CA 92545, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS RECOMMENDED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT SHOULD THE FAILURE BE CAUSED BY THE BRAKE BOOSTER; THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE SINCE THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS RECENTLY REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKES LOST POWER, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED QUIRK FORD OF AUGUSTA AT 207-430-1600 (LOCATED AT 7 WATER ST, HALLOWELL, ME 04347) AND THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
AS I WAS COMING TO A STOPLIGHT IN THE CITY AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH, MY BRAKES ENGAGED FOR ABOUT A QUARTER OF A SECOND, THEN GAVE OUT ALMOST ENTIRELY. I HAD TO PUMP BRAKES AND HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO STOP FROM HITTING A STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. THANKFULLY I BRAKE EARLY AND STOPPED SHORT A FEW INCHES. AFTER INSPECTION THE CULPRIT IS THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER.
CAR WAS MAKING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHILE IN MOTION.
SINCE JULY OF 2019 UNTIL I HAD IT REPAIRED END OF JANUARY 2020. MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF(THE ENGINE) COMPLETELY GO INTO LIMP MODE-FIVE TIMES IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS THANK GOD THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME WERE ALERT ENOUGH TO NOTICE MY CAR GO INTO LIMP MODE-I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED-LITERALLY IT WAS 55 MILES PER HOUR I WOULD GO OR SOMETIMES 25 MPH-I TOOK IT TO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS AND IT WAS STATED WAIT TIL A LIGHT GOES ON SO THEY COULD MAKE A DIAGNOSIS OR COPY A CODE-WELL SOON AS I STARTED THE ENGINE IT WOULD BE DRIVABLE TIL BOOM IT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN IN COUPLE OF WEEKS WITH NO WARNING. FINALLY, I DID SOME RESEARCH ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY AND GUESS WHAT TOLD A DEALER TO REPLACE IT AND HASN'T SHUT OFF SINCE. THANK GOD I DID MY OWN RESEARCH-STATES THERE ARE CURRENTLY RECALLS BUT GUESS WHAT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVEN'T COMPLAINED ABOUT THE 2013 EDGE FOR IT TO BE ON THE RECALL LIST-ITS AN EASY FIX-AND MY SONS COULD HAVE LOST A MOTHER-HUSBAND COULD'VE LOST A WIFE AND ELDERLY PARENTS LOOSE THERE PRIMARY CAREGIVER ALL BECAUSE OF A PART WHICH IS AN EASY FIX. I BEG YOU PLEASE ADD THE 2013 FORD EDGE ON RECALL NOT BECAUSE OF THE MONEY-BUT BECAUSE I GOT NO HELP FROM MECHANICS FROM THREE FORD DEALER-I WAS TOLD WAIT TIL A DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT COMES ON-WELL GUESS WHAT THE LAST FORD DEALER I WENT TO WHICH WAS 100 MILES ROUND TRIP TOLD ME WITH THIS PART A DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON-HAD I NOT DONE MY RESEARCH AND TAKEN IT TO RIGHT FORD DEALER I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED-DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO DO THE RESEARCH-ALERT THEM WITH A RECALL-AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU DO PUT IT ON RECALL--I WOULD APPRECIATE A REFUND-FOR MY TIME AND TROUBLE. THE "DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT" STAYS ON EVEN WITH THE DOOR SECURELY CLOSED. I HAD TO SLAM IT A FEW TIMES, WHICH I FEEL IS IMPROPER PROCEDURE, TO DISENGAGE THE LIGHT. UPON SECURING VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T DISENGAGE. THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY LIFE, WHERE UPON I NEED TO BUY A NEW BATTERY. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON, WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO SEE. IS THERE OR WILL THERE BE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT PROBLEM ???
DRIVER'S DOOR UNABLE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING, AND INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAYING ON CONTINUOUSLY. DOOR ALARM CONTINUOUSLY SOUNDING.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING ON WHEN DOOR IS SHUT TIGHT, AFTER SLAMMING DOOR SHUT A FEW TIMES IT GOES OUT. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.

WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL HISSING SOUND AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL MORE THAN ONCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO DONLEY FORD (702 CHARLES ST, GALION, OH 44833, (419) 468-4322) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A BRAKE LINE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,527. *BF CONSUMER STATES THAT AFTER THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL GOODYEAR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER FOUND OUT LATER THAT THEIR VEHICLE'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *DL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS HALFWAY PAST THE LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTERS FAILED. THE MECHANIC REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED NORM REEVES FORD LINCOLN (18900 STUDEBAKER RD, CERRITOS, CA 90703) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $800. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT A SAFETY LETTER WAS ISSUED FOR THE BRAKES FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OWNED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER HAS FAILED. BRAKE STOPPING EFFORT CHANGES WITH ENGINE RPM. AT LOW ENGINE SPEEDS, THE CAR APPEARS TO HAVE NO BRAKES. NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE GIVEN TO OPERATOR TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH BRAKES. FORD HAS A VOLUNTARY SERVICE ACTION (13N02)TO CARS BUILT UNTIL MARCH 2013, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST IN CAR BUILT IN MAY
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018, VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TRAVELING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND HEAVY TRAFFIC. GAS PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND WHEN PRESSED. LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. FORD DEALER/REPAIR COULD NOT IDENTIFY OR REPEAT PROBLEM, BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT A USED 2013 FORD EDGE: SPORT TRIM, 3.7L AWD WITH 84,000 MILES ON JUNE 8TH. INSPECTION WAS FINE. I DROVE IT HOME 1400 MILES THE NEXT 2 DAYS, AND NEVER DROVE IT HARD AT ALL. IT RAINED THE WHOLE WAY. DRIVING FELT A BIT ODD AT TIMES, THOUGH I ATTRIBUTED THAT TO MY UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE NEW VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVING HOME I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR TRANSMISSION LEAK. UPON MY RE-INSPECTION, IT WAS DRIPPING AT EVERY STOP, SOMETIMES LEAVING 2-5" DIAMETER PUDDLES. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS FINE, BUT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS LEAKING AND THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. COST OF REPAIR, $1800. UPON RESEARCHING, THE UNIT WHICH CLAIMS TO HAVE A "LIFETIME FLUID" OF GEAR-OIL HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW IN WHICH THE UNIT IS NOT PROPERLY COOLED, AND THE "LIFETIME FLUID" BREAKS DOWN DUE TO HEAT, CAUSING THE UNIT TO FAIL. THIS SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW COULD HAVE CAUSED MY TRIP THROUGH THE RAIN TO HAVE RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT WOULD HAVE ENDANGERED MY SAFETY, THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE IN THE RAIN, AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I AM NOW STUCK UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD THE $1800 REPAIR, AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION IS DANGEROUS. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP, AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
I FOUND SPOTS OF FLUID ON MY GARAGE FLOOR AND IN MY DRIVEWAY THAT WAS LEAKING FROM MY CAR. FORD DEALER INFORMED ME THIS FLUID IS LEAKING FROM TRANSMISSION PTU.
FUEL LEAK PUT GAS AND FIVE MINUTES LATER THE TANK IS HALF EMPTY

IN ORDER TO AVOID A COLLISION, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP, IT WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK OR THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE COOPER FORD YUKON (1780 GARTH BROOKS BLVD, YUKON, OK 73099, (405) 354-1111), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DITSCHMAN/FLEMINGTON FORD LINCOLN (215 US-202, FLEMINGTON, NJ 08822, (908) 905-0317) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER, AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *BF *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR BACK DOOR HAS A SENSOR LIGHT THAT COMES ON JUST LIKE THE DRIVERS DOOR SIDE DOOR THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND SHOWS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND WILL NOT LOCK.
SMALL TEAR IN BREAK BOOSTER. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND COVERED A LOT OF VEHICLES IN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02. MY CAR IS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MADE AT THE SAME FACTORY DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD OF THE ONES THAT WERE COVERED. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN IT BROKE AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT. FORD HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE. I FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF DRIVERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I DO WITH THEIR 2013 FORD EDGES THAT WERE NOT COVERED BY FORD.
BRAKE BOOSTER. I HAVE NEW BRAKES ON MY CAR BUT STILL FEEL LIKE I CAN'T STOP RIGHT AWAY LIKE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO. MY HUSBAND HAS A FORD EDGE 2019 FOR WORK. HIS CAR DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. EITHER DOES MY FRIEND WHO HAS A FORD EDGE 2016. I CAN BE IN A PARKING LOT AND BACKUP AND FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO HIT ONTO THE CAR BEHIND ME CAUSE I DON'T STOP RIGHT AWAY.
MY MECHANIC HAS INFORMED ME THAT MY MASTER CYLINDERS ARE BAD. THAT THIS PART ON THE FORD EDGE LEAKS FLUID INTO THE POWER BOOSTER WHICH COMPROMISES THE BOOSTER'S DIAPHRAGM AND IS UNDER A CURRENT RECALL WITH FORD. I HAD MY POWER BOOSTER REPLACED LAST OCTOBER, BECAUSE MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. SINCE HAVING THE BOOSTERS REPLACED, I HAVE THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE ENGAGING. BECAUSE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WORK IN TANDEM, IT MAKES NO SENSE TO REPLACE ONE WITHOUT REPLACING THE OTHER, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER IS THE CAUSATION OF THE POWER BOOSTER'S FAILURE. I IMPLORE YOU TO ISSUE A CORRESPONDING RECALL FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER OR AMMEND THE RECALL ON THE POWER BOOSTER TO INCLUDE THIS COMPONENT.
THE DRIVERS DOOR INTERMITTENTLY DOESN'T RECOGNIZE WHEN ITS CLOSED. THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE OTHER DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A SHORT DISTANCE.
REAR CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY FAILS. THE CAMERA OPERATES FINE AT TIMES, BUT IN MANY CASES, AN ERROR APPEARS ON THE SCREEN INDICATING THE CAMERA IS INOPERATIVE. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE CAR , PUT IT IN PARK, THEN REVERSE TO SEE IF IT WOUKD RESET. IT DOES NIT RESET. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE CAMERA INITIALLY OPERATES BUT FAILS AS I BACK UP. I HAVE BEEN TO FORD DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT THE CAMERA MUST BE REPLACED. DON'T QUITE GET THAT - WHY WILL THE CAMERA WORK FINE DURING KNEE ATTEMPT TO BACKUP AND THEN FAIL DURING NEXT ATTEMPT TO BACKUP! THE PROBLEM BEGAN LAST SUMMER (SUMMER OF 2019)
WHEN WIFE FILLS UP GAS TANK THE STRONG SMELL OF GAS YOU CAN SMELL FROM OUTSIDE OF CAR.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would intermittently depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure continued and the contact received a notice from emissions that the brake booster had been placed under an extended warranty. The contact's husband then called the dealer who informed him that unless the failure occurred while in their possession, they could not offer any assistance. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING EFFECTIVELY - SPONGY FEELING AND BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. TOOK INTO THE SHOP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. DID SOME RESEARCH AND THIS PART IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE MODEL AND YEAR OF MY CAR BUT NOT FOR MY VIN. TECHNICIAN WAS RELUCTANT TO LET ME DRIVE OFF THE LOT AS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. NOT SURE WHY FORD HAS ONLY CHOSEN TO REPLACE SOME OF THESE PARTS THAT IT KNOWS ARE FAULTY. MILEAGE IS 72K.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE CAUSING DIFFICULTY BRINGING VEHICLE TO FULL STOP. VERY HARD PEDAL. I ALMOST WENT INTO CROSS TRAFFIC, WHICH WAS GOING AT 55MPH. I NEEDED TWO FEET TO BRING CAR TO FULL STOP.
2013 EDGE WITH 53,000 MILES - 3-4 MONTHS OUT OF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT NOISES WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD (I.E. GRINDING NOISE, ENGINE RUNNING IRREGULAR, AND FAINT HUMMING AT ENGINE/TRANSMISSION). THIS ONLY HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3-4 TIMES TOTAL WITH MANY DAYS IN BETWEEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. VERY SLIGHT AT FIRST AND PROGRESSED AND BECAME LITTLE MORE PRONOUNCED. WHEN I WOULD STOP, THE ENGINE WAS CALM AND STILL. I WOULD WONDER IF IT WAS EVEN STILL RUNNING. IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP OVER A WEEK TO DIAGNOSE BECAUSE IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE MECHANIC HAD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FINALLY, FORMALLY DIAGNOSED 5/22/19 AS A FAILED PTU. NO FLUID LEAKS AND ALL SEALS INTACT. VERY LITTLE PRICE BREAK ON LABOR AND/OR PARTS. THE DEALERSHIP REFERS YOU TO CORPORATE FORD FOR ANY PART AND/OR WARRANTY COMPLAINTS. SINCE THERE WAS NO CORE CHARGE, I DID REQUEST THAT THE FAILED PART BE RETURNED AFTER REPLACEMENT. LASTLY, WITH THE FOREKNOWLEDGE MENTIONED ABOVE ABOUT THIS VEHICLES' PTU ISSUES. I WOULD CERTAINLY HESITATE TO BUY ANY FORD EDGE OR FLEX BECAUSE OF THIS SUBSTANDARD PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR CONSUMER SAFETY REASONS. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FIX IS ONLY TO PUT THIS SAME POORLY DESIGNED REPLACEMENT PART BACK ON THE VEHICLE - ONLY TO WAIT FOR IT TO POSSIBLY FAIL AGAIN.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING WHEN DOOR IS NOT AJAR. PROBLEM STARTED APPROX MID MAY 2019, MILEAGE UNDER 60,000 MILES.
THERE IS A FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 2013-2013 FORD EDGE, BUT MY 2013 FORD EDGE IS NOT COVERED. NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND FORD WILL NOT HELP ME. I HAVE 125,000 MILES, SO SHOULD BE COVERED, BUT FORD SAYS NO. THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY EDGE IS THE SAME ONE COVERED BY THE PROGRAM, AND IT'S NOW BAD, AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HOPE YOU HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING IT HAS NO BRAKES, OR VERY LITTLE BRAKES.
BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN I PUSH DOWN ON BRAKES IT FEELS VERY SPONGY LIKE THERE'S AIR STUCK IN THERE. MAKES A HISSING SOUND. I STEP ON THE BRAKES AND IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR KEEPS ROLLING. AND I HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES.
DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND A WRENCH ICON LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY AND ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT WORK. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD FIND NO TROUBLE CODES AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN AT AROUND 45 MPH ON A HIGHWAY.
STARTING A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE BRAKE PEDAL ON OUR 2013 FORD EDGE WENT VERY SOFT UPON BRAKING MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO SAFELY STOP. TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY COULD FIND NO ISSUES AS THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF. THE BRAKE ISSUE REOCCURRED AGAIN, BUT, AGAIN THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING AS IT RESOLVED ITSELF. LAST WEEK THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE DEALER FINALLY DIAGNOSED THE FIX AS A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER; THEY ARE CURRENTLY MAKING THE REPAIRS AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $2,300 (WON'T HAVE THE FINAL COST UNTIL I PICK IT UP NEXT WEEK). THIS IS MY WIFE'S VEHICLE AND ALL OF THE FAILURE OCCURRENCES WERE WHEN SHE WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE. SHE CLEARLY STATES THAT HER SAFETY WAS SEVERELY COMPROMISED WITH EACH OCCURRENCE AS THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SAFELY STOP. ADDITIONALLY, WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT ALTHOUGH THIS ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL YEAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY FORD, OUR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. WITH ALL OF THE OCCURRENCES OF THIS VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE FORD MOTOR NEEDS TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. A FULL AND COMPLETE RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER AS WELL AS THE DRIVING PUBLIC IS AT RISK OF INJURY AND EVEN DEATH ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND WHEN IT DOES OCCUR IS A COMPLETE SURPRISE TO THE DRIVER.
"TAKATA RECALL" THE WARNING LIGHT THAT L PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR STAYS ON -- EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS APPARENTLY DRAINED THE BATTERY; HAD TO JUMP THE CAR TO GET IT STARTED. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS HAS ESPECIALLY BEEN A PROBLEM FOR THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS. THIS OCCURS WHETHER THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
THE BRAKES STARTED TO BECOME HARDER TO APPLY. AN AIR HISSING SOUND CAME FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO BRAKE, BUT ALL OTHER BRAKE PARTS ARE INTACT (ACCORDING TO MECHANIC). THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THE BRAKING PROBLEM WAS NOTICED. THE AIR HISSING SOUND CAN BE HEARD WHEN IN PARK AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AS WELL. THERE IS AN ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM WITH THIS PART IN A POSTED EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THE TERMS OF THAT DO NOT APPLY TO MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. I AM SHOWING THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AND I WAS ALMOST IN 2 DIFFERENT WRECKS WHEN MY CAR WOULDN'T STOP - AND IT WILL COST $1000 TO FIX! IT SEEMS IF THE PROBLEM IS ACKNOWLEDGED IN OTHERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE, IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN ALL OF THE SAME. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD.
DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD AND NEEDED TO STOP. PUSHED ON BRAKE PEDAL AND PEDAL FELT SOFT AND TRAVELED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR. FELT AS IF A FLUID LINE HAD BURST ALLOWING FLUID TO SPRAY OUT. NO FLUID WAS LOST OR VISIBLE LEAKS. AFTER VEHICLE HAD SET FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, BRAKE PEDAL CAME BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME WAS IN JANUARY, SECOND TIME MAY. LOCAL FORD DEALER CAN NOT FIND ANY FAULTS OR PROBLEM.
2013 FORD EDGE BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE. MILEAGE 119,000. STARTING HEARING A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES BECAME VERY RESISTANT. AFTER HAVING IT LOOKED AT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS BAD AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR VEHICLE. AFTER CHECKING FURTHER I DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR VEHICLE BUT THAT ONLY CARS MADE AT CERTAIN ASSEMBLY PLANTS WERE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND MY CAR WASN'T ONE OF THEM. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE WHO CREATED A CASE # FOR ME AND SET ME UP WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR WAS IDENTICAL AS THOSE THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED AND SUBMITTED THIS CLAIM BACK TO FORD CUSTOMER CARE AS BEING A VALID ISSUE TO BE REPAIRED. FORD CUSTOMER CARE SENT A RESPONSE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER ANY HELP THROUGH FORD LOYALTY OR FORD ASSISTANCE ON MY REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TOLD ME THAT FORD HAD IN THE PAST AGREED TO PAY SOME THAT WEREN'T ON THE RECALL LIST BUT DENIED OTHERS AND THEY WEREN'T SURE WHY. THAT IS REALLY UPSETTING....WHO DETERMINES WHO THEY SAY YES TO AND WHO THEY TURN AWAY? WHY EVEN ASSIGN A CASE # AND SET YOU UP WITH A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR IF THEY ARE KNOWINGLY GOING TO DENY YOU? MY FAMILY IS A HUGE FORD FAMILY. THAT IS THE ONLY TYPE OF VEHICLE WE EVER PURCHASE. WE'VE SHOWN DECADES OF CUSTOMER LOYALTY TO THEIR BRAND AND MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN LOOKING TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE AS WE SPEAK...BUT THIS ISSUE AND BEING DENIED ASSISTANCE FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY IS GIVING US NO CHOICE BUT TO LOOK OUTSIDE OF FORD AT OTHER MANUFACTURERS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. THIS HAS DISAPPOINTED OUR ENTIRE FAMILY AND COST FORD A LOT MORE THAN THE COST OF THIS REPAIR!!!

I DO HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY & HAVE SPENT A FORTUNE ON DEDUCTIBLES FOR BRAKE ISSUES. I TRAVEL FOR WORK IN ALL TYPES OF MOUNTAINOUS CONDITIONS. AFTER READING THERE ARE 144 COMPLAINTS ON 2013 MODEL THIS IS DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS ISSUE. NEEDS RECALL.

DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. DOOR AJAR LIGHT ALWAYS GOES OFF EVEN AFTER SLAMMING THE DOOR SHUT. I HAVE HAD THIS FIXED BY A DEALERSHIP TWICE AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK AND THE DOORS WONT LOCK AND THE BATTERY DIES. THIS HAPPENS WHEN SHUTTING THE DOOR WHEN STATIINARY.

BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED CAUSING SERIOUS DECLINE IN BRAKING DISTANCE TO A POINT WHERE I FELT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A PART THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND ALMOST REAR ENDED SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS INCREASED BY A LARGE AMOUNT.

THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
