NO SET TIME THE BRAKES FAILS. GOES TO THE FLOOR INSTEAD OF STOPPING AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT RATE OF SPEED YOU'RE TRAVELING. EVEN AFTER THINKING FORD FIXED IT I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE BRAKES FAILED. FORD FIXED IT BY DOING A FLUSH, COST CHARGED ME A LOT OF MONEY FOR NOTHING OR THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.
THERE IS A LEAK/CRACK IN THE FUEL NECK. EVERY TIME I REFUEL THE VEHICLE, IT WILL NOT START RIGHT AWAY. AFTER A MINUTE IT WILL START. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED I SPEND $600 TO REPLACE IT. ALSO, DRIVER WINDOW IS SCRAPING WHEN IT GOES UP AND OUTSIDE DECORATIVE PANEL PAINT IS FADING.
AFTER HITTING A BUMP, POT HOLE, ETC. THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND IS SLOW TO STOP, CURRENTLY, THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IS SLOW TO STOP, WHICH FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IS A COMMON PROBLEM,WITH THE HCU AND/OR POWER BREAK BOOSTER BUT NO OFFICIAL RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. ALTHOUGH THIS HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE IN DECEMBER OF 2018, IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE MONTH OF JUNE 2019 AND NOW IS CURRENTLY NOT IMPROVING.
DASH PANEL GOES BLACK AT ANYTIME,IT WILL EVENTUALLLY COME BACK ON.WHEN THIS HAPPENS PANEL IS BLACK LIKE WHEN CAR IS NOT RUNNING
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON, LEAVING INTERIOR LIGHTS ON RUNNING BATTERY DOWN. WHEN I AM DRIVING INTERIOR LIGHTS ON IT'S REALLY HARD TO DRIVE IN THE EVENING/NIGHT TIME. MY MECHANIC CHECKED THE DOOR AND SAID IT'S ELECTRICAL ISSUE NOT MECHANICAL. FIRST IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE LIGHTS TURNED ON AND ON THE DASHBOARD WAS SIGH PASSENGER DOOR AJAR. ALL THE DOORS WERE DEFINITELY CLOSED. I DIDN'T GET RECALL WHEN SHOULD'VE CAUSE THIS'S SAFETY HAZARD DRIVING WITH INTERIOR LIGHT ON IN NIGHT TIME.
WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED THAT CAR STALLS AND IT FEELS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT TO GO FASTER. IT ENDED UP NOT WANTING TO GO FORWARD ANY LONGER. IT WILL ONLY REVERSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. AFTER ADDING FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK NEAR THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V002000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN DRIVING, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING APPEARS ON THE CONSOLE WHICH PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING. THIS ISSUE ALSO CAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND CAN'T BE MANUALLY TURNED OFF.
DOOR AJAR SYMBOL KEEPS COMING ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DRIVING AND SIGNALS TO SHIFT TO PARK AND CLOSE DOOR. VERY DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT
WHEN PRESSING ON THE BREAK PEDAL, HISSING AND SQUEALING NOISE OCCURS. SOMETIMES WHEN PRESSING ON BREAK PEDAL, HARD STOP OCCURS RATHER THAN GRADUAL SLOWING. HISSING AND SQUEALING OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BOTH STOPPED AND MOVING. HARD STOP OCCURS WHEN COASTING/BREAKING SLOWLY, HISS, THEN A JERK/HARD STOP OCCURS SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.
GETTING IN MY VEHICLE ONE DAY NOTICED A BUMP ON THE SIDE OF THE TIRE AND DETERMINED IT WAS PROBABLY THE BELT OR BELTS ON THE INSIDE OF TIRE PROBABLY FAILED. WHEN I WAS LOOKING ONLINE NOTICED THERE WERE RECALLS FOR MANY TIRES IN THE KOMHO TIRE COMPANY PARTICULARLY THE SOLUS LINE IN THAT SPECIFIC YEAR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I AM TOLD,
BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR DURING SUDDEN STOP SITUATIONS AND DOES NOT GO BACK TO NORMAL. WILL SELF CORRECT AFTER VEHICLE SITS FOR A FEW HOURS. AFTER MUTIPLE OCCURRENCES AND ATTEMPTED REPAIRS TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS HELPED THE FORD DEALER DETERMINE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER SINCE 11/9/18 AND THERE ARE STILL NO FORD FACTORY PARTS AVAILABLE. I WAS NUMBER 208 OUT OF 228 ON THE BACK ORDER LIST. AN AFTERMARKET PARTS WAS INSTALLED WITH OUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR AUTHORIZATION AND FORD WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY WARRANTY FOR THIS PART. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.
I HAVE LOST MY BRAKES WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY
DRIVER DOOR STAYS WITH THE SIGN OF DOOR AJAR. IT HAS HAPPENED ON ALL 5 EDGES OF MYSELF AND 4 FAMILY MEMBERS. CHECK ON INTERNET AT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN NOT ONLY FORD EDGE, BUT ON EXPLORER AND EXPEDITION ALSO. BELIEVE TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT BUT NOBODY DOES ANYTHING WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE AN NHTSA ISSUE..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED WHITMOYER FORD AT (877) 280-7292 (LOCATED AT 1001 E MAIN ST, MOUNT JOY, PA 17552) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE CODE THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOUND. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
WATER LEAK IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE DO TO SEALANT GAPS IN A PANEL ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TO THE POINT WERE WATER WAS POOLING ON THE RUBBER MATS. I SEE THAT THERE WERE PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE CONSIDERED IN THIS RECALL.
BRAKE BOOSTER FOR THIS VEHICLE NEEDED REPAIR BASED ON SYMPTOMS MATCHING FSP 13N02, AND THE REPAIR WAS ALSO AN EXACT MATCH. EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE IS PROVIDED BY FORD FOR FSP 13N02 BASED ON A DATE RANGE, BUT FORD REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE CONDITION APPLIED TO THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. I HAD THIS VEHICLE REPAIRED AT ANOTHER SHOP (NOT FORD), AND THIS SHOP SAID IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED.
2013 FORD EDGE VIN# (XXXXXX) 58665 MILES MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR AND WAS COMPLETELY UNNERVED WHEN 3 TIMES THE CAR LOST POWER IMMEDIATELY AFTER A STOP AND THEN A LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC. SHE IS A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER AND THERE WAS TIME FOR HER TO GLIDE OFF TO THE SHOULDER WHERE SHE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED. I BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVE AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO STOP. THE PEDAL WAS HARD TO PUSH ON. I HAD TO STAND ON IT TO GET THE CAR STOPPED! I PULLED BACK INTO THE DRIVE AND IT WORKED FINE. DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK AND IT WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK. DANGEROUS I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND IT STOPPED WORKING AND AGAIN I HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKE. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND AGAIN IT WORKED FINE.
REAR LEFT DOOR AJAR LIGHT MALFUNCTIONING. STAYS ON. HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS ON.
AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING SYSTEM IS BLOWING OUT COOL AIR WHEN THE HEAT IS ON.
BRAKES STARTED BECOMING 'LOOSE', WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR WITH HISSING SOUND. VEHICLE WOULD STILL STOP OK. MECHANIC CHECKED BECAUSE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, ETC WERE ALL FINE. HE SAID IT WAS THE PRESSURE AND HE BELIEVED THERE TO BE A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE ISSUE SO HE DID NOT WANT TO DO. THE BRAKES THEN STARTED TO BECOME LOCKED, IT WOULDN'T GO DOWN AT ALL AND STOPPING WAS BECOMING AN ISSUE. UNLESS YOU PUMPED SLOWLY AND THEN IT DID THE HISS AND ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK VIN AND SAID OUR VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED. I STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT MANY FOLKS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND ARE BEING TOLD THE SAME THING...NOT INCLUDED. MANY. SEEMS TO ME COMMON SENSE WOULD SAY THAT MAYBE THE ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN WE FIRST REALIZED. HOW MANY WILL BE INJURED OR KILLED ? AND OH YES HOW MANY LIKE US WILL HAVE TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON SOMETHING FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE FORD FIX THEM ALL. *TR

ORIGINAL SAFETY RECALL 14S10 RECENTLY MY MECHANIC FOUND THE RIGHT AXLESHAFT LEAKING AND COPIED THE ABOVE REFERENCED RECALL NOTICE AS IT MATCHES MY MAKE MODEL AND YEAR AS WELL AS MY VIN NUMBER. WHEN I CONTACT FORD TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET THIS LOOKED AT THEY INFORM ME I D9NT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT'S NOT ATTACHED TO MY VIN. THE RECALL COVERS THE MAKE MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE SO I HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME BELIEVING THAT IT'S NOT POSSIBLE FOR MINE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. MY MECHANIC DOESN'T DO RECALL WORK FOR FORD AND DISCOURAGES PEOPLE TO PAY AND HOPE TO BE REIMBURSED.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,407.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG INJURED MY CHEST AND SHOULDER AND CHEST. THEE SEAT BELT CUT MY NECK . I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FORDS ALL MY LIFE AND WAS A SATISFIED CUSTOMER. BUT AFTER THAT ACCIDENT I WAS SCARD BECAUSE THE DASH BOARD DROPPED DOWN. I NOW QUESTION MY SAFETY IN A FORD EDGE. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 35 MILES AN HOUR.
BRAKE BOOSTER HOSE HAS A LEAK. BRAKES HISS WHEN PRESSED AND GET SPONGY. IF PROBLEM GOES ON LONG ENOUGH WITHOUT BEING FIXED, THE VACUUM LEAKS INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING RPMS TO BOG DOWN WHEN BREAKS ARE PRESSED FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME (EX. AT A STOP LIGHT) AND CAR STALLS OUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,426.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE AND ATTRIBUTED IT TO THE POWER BOOSTERS ON THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL, BUT SHOULD BE COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF TEN YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED ONLY IF IT WERE MANUFACTURED IN CERTAIN PLANTS. THE DEALER (LEIF JOHNSON FORD, 501 E KOENIG LN, AUSTIN, TX 78751, (512) 454-3711) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
REAR DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT GOES ON WHEN DRIVING OR STATIONARY
3RD DOOR AJAR SENSIOR ON MY EDGE. CLEANING DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. 1ST TIME WAS 8/02/16, 2ND WAS 1/08/18, 3RD TIME IS NOW, WAITING ON MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO FIX IT AGAIN.
THE TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE AND YOU HAVE 0 POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES. SOMETIMES IT WILL BE AT 50MPH AND SOMETIMES IT WILL BE FROM A STOP WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE. YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, SHIFT TO PARK OR NEUTRAL, TURN OFF THE CAR, THEN RESTART THE CAR AND IT WORKS AGAIN. IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING LEFT AT A BUSY LIGHT AND THE CAR LOST POWER IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC.
BRAKES ARE NOT FUNTIONING WELL THEY ARE VERY HARD AND MAKE NOICE
HAVE HAD LIGHTS STAY ON, COME BACK ON OR RADIO TURN ON IN GARAGE AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE. 10 OR MORE INSTANCES OF THE BATTERY BEING COMPLETELY DISCHARGED AFTER BEING TURNED OFF IN GARAGE FOR TWO TO FOUR DAYS. THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEMS FOR A LONG TIME FOLLOWED BY TIMES WHEN EVERY OTHER WEEK THERE IS A PROBLEM TO HAVING TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY EVERY NIGHT OR IT WON'T START. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 4 OR 5 TIMES AND HAVE AGAIN ON A NEW DEEP CYCLE BATTERY HAVING PROBLEMS. ALSO HAD VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AT A STOP SIGN IN FIRST 6 MONTHS TO YEAR OF LIFE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SOME SORT OF FUEL THING THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED EVERY 10,000 MILES TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. HOWEVER, IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN THE BATTERY, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND IS NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED. WE HAVE HAD CONSTANT BATTERY PROBLEMS BUT NO FURTHER FUEL ISSUES.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHCLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE RELATED TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM NUMBER: 13N02 (EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER). THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,584.
MY BACKUP CAMERA IS IN 2013 FORD EDGE IS NOT WORKING FOR PAST 2YEARS JUST LIKE IN THE 2020 MODELS RECALL.
WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE ACCELERATOR JUST GOES DEAD. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 3 YEARS IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. VERY SCARY. HAVE TO CRUISE TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE GAS PEDDLE WILL NOT RESPOND AT ALL. FORD ALREADY CHARGED US $750 TO FIX IN 2016 AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE UNEXCEPTABLE
I OPENED THE SUNROOF OF THE CAR MAYBE 10 TIMES EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD. I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE SUNROOF AND I HEARD A POP. THE SUN ROOF WILL NO LONGER CLOSE. THE PART THAT PULLS THE GLASS CLOSED AND OPEN SNAPPED. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT ABOUT TO GET OUT AND GO TO LUNCH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TOOK THE CAR TO TWO PLACES FOR REPAIR ESTIMATES. ONE WAS MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THE OTHER A COLLISION REPAIR PLACE. BOTH PLACES QUOTED $8000 TO REPAIR MY SUNROOF. THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND AGAIN I HAVE ONLY OPENED THE SUNROOF MAYBE TEN TIMES EVER. NOW IT WILL NOT CLOSE AND $8000 IS JUST CRIPPLING AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR A SUNROOF. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH FORD SUNROOFS AND THIS IS SIMPLY JUST HORRIBLE. FORD KNOWS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS OVER $6500 PLUS ABOUT 11 HOURS LABOR. FORD NEEDS TO MITIGATE THIS ISSUE. IT IS AN OUT RAGE THAT ANYONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY ON A FIVE YEAR OLD CAR BECAUSE A PIECE OF FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT BREAKS WITH MINIMAL USAGE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 FORD EDGE AT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC I RECEIVED A WRENCH NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER TO CONTROL MY SPEED. AS MY CAR QUICKLY REDUCED SPEED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY I ATTEMPTED TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER OUT OF HARMS WAY. ONCE I WAS OFF THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND I POWERED DOWN THE VEHICLE. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN I WAS PROMPTED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT IS NOW ROCKING- FORWARD WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND BACKWARDS WHEN GAS IS APPLIED. THE SEAT IS NO LONGER MOVING INTO ALL OF THE POSITIONS IT IS SUPPOSED TO. THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING THE LAST FEW DAYS. IT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET AND ONLINE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE- SINCE THE EDGE WAS FIRST MADE ALL MODELS ARE INCURRING THIS. IF THE SEATS BREAK THEN THAT COULD BE DISASTROUS.
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED. NOTHING HIT THE ROOF PRIOR TO IT SHATTERING.
VEHICLE BRAKE NOT STOPPING AS NORMAL. BRAKE SEEMS TO FAIL - NEED TO PRESS HARD AND ALMOST CRASHED.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL ARE THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING LIGHT. THESE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN I START THE CAR AND GO ON THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE TIME DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
WHEN YOU APPLY YOUR BRAKE, YOU DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR WILL STOP OR NOT AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKES WILL STOP HARD AND THROW THE PASSENGERS AGAINST SEAT BELT. IT IS ALMOST A VIOLENT STOP. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2013 FORD EDGES. BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD. FORD WILL FIX SOME, BUT NOT ALL. DEPENDS ON YOUR VIN#. NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHY MY VIN# ELIMINATES ME WHEN IT IS COVERED ON MOST OTHERS. RECALLED ON BULLETIN 13N02, BUT ONLY ON SELECT VIN#'S EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING IS IDENTICAL...MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, PROBLEM.
DRIVING HOME ON A LOCAL STREET THAT ALLOWED 25MPH - I WAS GOING 23 MPH THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME UP THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND THE SPEED REDUCED TO UNDER 5PH. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER, PUT IT IN GEAR AND TURN IT OFF, TOOK THE KEYS OUT AND WAITED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR - THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MYSELF HOME. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. NEXT TO THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS A MESSAGE TO REFER TO THE CAR MANUAL. THE MANUAL IDENTIFIES THE WRENCH LIGHT SYMBOL AS "POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER" POWERTRAIN OR AWD FAULT HAS BEEN DETECTED. INCIDENT OCCURED ON 9/14/18 AT 8:20PM ON A CLEAR NIGHT WITH LITTLE HUMIDITY NEITHER THE RADIO OR THE HEAT/AC WAS ON. I HAD THE WINDOW PARTLY OPENED.
OUR 2013 FORD EDGE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM THREE TIMES IN A MONTH, TWICE ON FLAT ROADS, ONCE ON AN INCLINE/BRIDGE. YOU ARE DRIVING ALONG THE CAR IS MOVING, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU LOSE ALL POWER AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. YOU CAN'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART, YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THEN THE CAR WILL START AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AS THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WITH NO POWER ANYTHING...ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 65 MPH, WITH A NARROW SHOULDER ON A BRIDGE, WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR (LIKE IT DID TODAY). THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES SO THERE ISN'T MUCH TO GO ON, YOU JUST HAVE TO START GUESSING AT THE SOLUTION. IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, THIS BOARD IS FILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM. YET FORD OR THE NTHSA ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN?
BRAKES GRIND WHEN APPROACHING A STOP. DEALER ADVISES THIS IS NORMAL AND NOT A PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. AUTONATION FORD MARGATE (LOCATED AT 5401 W COPANS RD, MARGATE, FL 33063, (954) 644-4976) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY HARD TO PUSH, THE BRAKES HARDLY WORK, WHILE PUSHING ON THE HARD PEDAL THE PEDAL WILL GO PART OF THE WAY DOWN AND THEN SUDDENLY GET SOFT AND SUDDENLY ENGAGE BRAKES JERKING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS FORWARD.
