DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS FAULTY. WARNING SHOWS DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. WARNING OF FUEL FILL AREA. DOOR AJAR WARNING OCCURS WHEN STARTING VEHICLE AND WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
WHEN YOU PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL, YOU THINK YOU AREN'T GOING TO STOP, THEN IT SUDDENLY CATCHES AND THROWS ON THE BRAKE, MAKING A SUDDEN STOP. I WENT TO FORD DEALER AND THEY SAY IT'S NOT COVERED BY FORD EVEN THOUGH MANY 2013 EDGES ARE HAVING THE PROBLEM AND ARE COVERED FOR BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. NO REASON FOR WHY SOME ARE COVERED AND OURS ISN'T. DEALER WANTS $450, BUT DOESN'T HAVE BRAKE BOOSTER PARTS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR NOW. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE #13N02 FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER PROBLEMS IN 2013 FORD EDGE & LINCOLN MKX. OUR VIN NUMBER, HOWEVER, IS NOT COVERED. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESN'T KNOW WHY OURS ISN'T COVERED, BUT STILL NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING FOR US. WE HAVE 55,000 MILES, SO OUR REGULAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED.
POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. I WAS MOVING AND TRIED TO STOP AND HAD A DIFFICULT TIME STOPPING. BREAK PEDDLE COULD NOT BE PUSHED. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE (SEE FORD SERVICE BULLETIN 13N02). ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE IS THE SAME IT DOES NOT FIT UNDER THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CITUATION. IT ALMOST MADE ME PULL INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I WAS STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN BEFORE PULLING ON TO A STATE ROAD WHERE TRAFFIC WAS GOING 55 MPH. TRI- STATE FORD IN AMARILLO TEXAS CONFIRMED THE BOOSTER WAS BAD JUST LIKE DESCRIBED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN 13N02. I AM PAYING ALMOST $600 TO FIX SOMETHING F HAS ACKNOWLEDGED IS A PROBLEM AFTER I ALMOST HAD A WRECK. WHY DID I NOT GET A LETTER TO TELL ME OF THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM. WHY DID I ALMOST HAVE TO HAVE A WRECK TO DISCOVER WHAT FORD HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS?
VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE AS I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO A STATE HIGHWAY. ONCE I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE STARTED SPUTTERING AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. AN ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH AND SAID "SEE MANUAL". I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE AROUND AND GOING ABOUT 2 MILES AN HOUR MADE IT BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY...IT CONTINUED SPUTTERING AND KNOCKING TILL I PARKED IT. ONCE PARKED THE VEHICLE IDLED FINE BUT IF I WOULD PUT IT BACK INTO GEAR IT WOULD START THE SPUTTERING/DYING PROCESS AGAIN. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME I FILED A COMPLAINT AS WELL BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WASN'T AN ERROR CODE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE ON AND IT COMPLETELY CUT OUT AND I HAD TO MANEUVER MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO RESET IT. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID PROBLEMS LIKE THIS HAD BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS.
ON 6 OCCASIONS NOW MY 2013 FORD EDGE WHILE DRIVING HAS THROWN UP A CHECK ENGINE SIGN AND THE CAR WILL JUST PRETTY MUCH DIE WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TO THE POINT THAT I AM BARELY MOVING. THEN SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED I TOOK IT TO FORD THEY SAID IT WAS THE BATTERY SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND STILL SINCE THEN IT CONTINUES TO DO IT ALL OF THESE WAY BEFORE MY WARRANTY WAS UP BUT FORD COULD NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT ON THE OTHER OCCURRENCES. ON 8/18/2018 THE CAR THREW UP A WRENCH SIGN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR PRETTY MUCH SHUT DOWN I BARELY MADE IT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. ALL OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR LUCK I DON'T KNOW HOW I KEPT FROM BEING HIT DUE TO THE CAR PRETTY MUCH WOULD ONLY ROLL BECAUSE PRESSING ON THE GAS DID NOT GOOD. ONCE TO SAFETY AND PULLED OVER TO RESTART THE CAR IT WOULD START AND BE OKAY THEN SEVERAL WEEKS SOMETIMES MONTHS IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN. LAST OCCURRENCE WAS 8.18/2019
BEFORE I CAN GO ANYWHERE IN MY CAR, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION COMES ON. I HAVE TO KEEP SLAMMING MY DOOR SHUT FOR IT TO TURN OFF. IT HAS ALSO DRAINED MY BATTERY, MAKING MY CAR INOPERABLE UNTIL I REPLACE IT.
BRAKE BOOSTER. BRAKES BEGAN TO MAKE A HISSING SOUND WHEN PRESSED, AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO PUSH DOWN WHEN NEEDING TO BRAKE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE DIAPHRAGM. COST TO ME WOULD BE $1000 AND WAS TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, THERE WAS A FORD RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2010-2013 FORD EDGES, BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED DURING A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD. AFTER READING, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS PARTICULAR RECALL AND THE COST WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET FOR THEM AS WELL. FORD IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE BRAKE ISSUE ON A PART THEY ALREADY KNOW IS FAULTY.
2013 FORD EDGE WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT WORK. THE CAR IDLED ROUGHLY AND HAD NORMAL A/C, BRAKES AND STEERING. THE CAR WAS GOING 55 MPH ON A CROWDED ROADWAY.
8/11/2018 I CAME UPON STOPPED TRAFFIC WITH NOT ENOUGH TIME TO DECELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY HIT MY BRAKES, BUT REARENDED A PICKUP TRUCK. THE TRUCK FLIPPED OVER ON ITS PASSENGER SIDE. I CONTINUED TRAVELING AND WENT ON THE EMBANKMENT. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I NOTICED FRONT PASSENGER SIDE IN FLAMES. PASSERSBY GOT BOTH OF US OUT. BUT THE CAR WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. IT HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE.
SMELLING GAS INSIDE OF CAR AND ALSO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON THAT STATES CHECK FUEL FILL INLET
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR KEEPS RANDOMLY COMING ON. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND INTERNAL LIGHTS WILL BE LEFT ON. IT DRAINED MY BATTERY AND LEFT ME STRANDED 4 HOURS FROM HOME. TRULY RANDOM TIMES... WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHEN PARKED AND MAYBE HOURS LATER AFTER VEHICLE IS IN PARK.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS STAYING ON,AS WELL AS THE MAP LIGHTS. RUNS THE BATTERY DOWN. THE MAP LIGHTS COME ON AT WILL INCLUDING DURING THE NIGHT. WIFE HAS GOTTEN IN THE EDGE AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON AND IT STARTS BEEPING. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS DOOR SWITCH SINCE 2007 AND REFUSES TO RECALL ALL THE CARS AND TRUCKS THAT HAVE THIS SWITCH. I HAVE GONE ON LINE AND THERE ARE MILLIONS OF COMPLAINTS . WE ARE IF FEAR OF THIS CASING A FIRE OR WORSE YET FOR SOME REASON NOT ALLOWING THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY IN A CRASH. MY WIFE IS SCARED TO DRIVE THIS SUV AND FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND A RECALL IS NEEDED.
DRIVER'S DOOR STOPPED REGISTERING THAT IT WAS CLOSED, CAUSING "DOOR AJAR" WARNING REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD/COMPLETELY THE DOOR WAS SHUT. IT WOULD RESULT IN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS, AS THE CAR WOULD CONSTANTLY ISSUE AN AUDIBLE AND VISUAL WARNING WHILE DRIVING (DURING SLOW SPEEDS/COMING TO A STOP), AND KEEP THE INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHEN PARKED, DRAINING THE BATTERY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS PUBLISHED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 14-0011) FOR ITS SERVICE PERSONNEL, BUT HAS FAILED TO TAKE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IMPACTING A MULTITUDE OF THEIR VEHICLE MODELS (EDGE, EXPLORER, AND FLEX AS WELL AS LINCOLN MK-X & MK-T) FOR YEARS 2011-2014. UNOFFICIALLY, THIS AFFECTS YEAR MODELS 2009-2018, BASED ON INFORMATION ONLINE FORUMS SUCH AS FORDPROBLEMS.COM. THE COST TO FIX WAS IN EXCESS OF $500 AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND I FOUND IT QUITE TELLING THAT THEY HAD THE PART ON-HAND FOR SAME DAY-SERVICE, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS NOW 5 YEARS OLD.
DRIVERS DOOR MALFUNCTIONING. SAFETY HAZARD. DOOR DOES NOT REGISTER CLOSE EVEN WHEN SLAM IT HARD.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD (HIGHWAY) CAR GOES INTO A LIMP MODE AND WILL TRUST START SLOWING DOWN AND EVENTUALLY COMES TO A SLOW CRAWL LESS THAN 5 MPG.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK AND THE MOTOR IS TURNED OFF A WARNING POPS UP ON THE SCREEN. THE WARNING SAYS "SHIFT INTO PARK".
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. UPON STOPPING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND A RATTLING AND KNOCKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED POWER TRANSFER CASE OIL LEAKER. SOME HOW OIL LEAKED FROM POWER TRANSFER CASE OUT IS A SEALED UNIT. COST OF REPAIR $2,000.00. THIS PROBLEM EXIST IN MANY FORD EDGES NOT JUST MINE. IT'S A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. UPDATED 10/16/18*JB
THE SPEED OF MY CAR WAS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 15 MPH. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENDED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB). THIS COMPONENT WAS RECALLED IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16B23. HOWEVER, IT WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR 2011-2012 MODEL YEAR EDGE AND MKX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.5L OR 3.7L ENGINES. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE, IT SEEMS THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR THE 2013 FORD EDGE AS WELL.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED INSPECTION FOR TOTAL PARTS AND LABOR COST OF $672. SOME 2013 FORD EDGES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS BUT NOT MINE. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO INQUIRE BUT ONCE I STATED MY QUESTION, REPRESENTATIVE HUNG UP. I TRIED CALLING BACK BUT NO ONE PICKED UP. I WANT TO KNOW WHY MY SPECIFIC EDGE WAS NOT INCLUDED WHEN IT OBVIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND READY TO START DRIVING, OR READY TO EXIT THE CAR, THE "DOOR AJAR" COMES ON. IF THE VEHICLE IS TO BE PARKED, THE DOME LIGHTS DO NOT GO OUT. IF THE VEHICLE IS TO BE DRIVEN, THE DOOR AJAR MESSAGE STILL DISPLAYS, A PUT IN PARK MESSAGE DISPLACES AND A WARNING NOISE IS GIVEN. THIS STARTED INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND RECLOSING THE DOOR WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NOW IT IS A BIG PROBLEM EVERY TIME THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS USED. I SEE FROM ON LINE THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS IS A COST PROHIBITIVE REPAIR WHEN YOU NEED 4 NEW TIRES
AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, MY VEHICLE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. WITHOUT ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR SOUNDS THE GAS PEDAL DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO IT, IT JUST WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THEN DIED. THE ENGINE WOULD TURN, BUT IT'S AS IF GAS WASN'T GETTING TO THE ENGINE AND IT WOULDN'T START. I TRIED A COUPLE TIMES TO START IT, NO SUCCESS. STILL NO WARNING LIGHTS. AS THE TOW COMPANY WAS ON THE WAY, ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, I TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED. AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. NO VEHICLES WERE BEHIND ME TO HIT ME WHEN IT DIED AND I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE SHOULDER. I WENT TO FORD SERVICE LATER ON AND I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE NONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THERE MORE THAN LIKELY IS NOT A CODE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL PUMP. I NOW DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOPING IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2013 FORD EDGE FUEL SYSTEM, BUT MINE IS NOT ONE TO BE RECALLED.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL FEELS SPONGEY AND THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT IS NOT GOING TO STOP. IN ORDER TO MAKE IT STOP, YOU HAVE TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES THAN NORMAL. I FIRST NOTICED IT WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, BUT IT ALSO OCCURS ANY TIME YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WE TOOK IT IN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER BOOST WAS BAD AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE EDGE. WE THEN TOOK IT IN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE POWER BOOST PROBLEM AND THE MASTER CYLINDER MIGHT ALSO BE AFFECTED. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE, WE FOUND THAT IT IS INDEED A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2010-2013 FORD EDGE. OUR COMPLAINT IS THAT IF THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS, WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL? THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. WE ALSO FOUND THAT FORD WILL COVER THE REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM ONLY IF YOU HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO NOT HAVE ONE AND THEREFORE MUST PAY THE ENTIRE COST FOR A DEFECT THAT IS KNOWN TO OCCUR WITH THESE CARS. MY 2013 EDGE HAS ONLY ABOUT 50,000 MILES AND I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD BE RECALLING AND FIXING THIS DANGEROUS FLAW. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FORD'S MANUFACTURING DEFECT. COVERAGE SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL FORD EDGE OWNERS WHOSE CARS HAVE THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT REGARDLESS.
WHILE DRIVING, WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, VEHICLE LOSES ALL ACCELERATION, ENGINE IDLES. MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON, EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN 2 HOURS LATER. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO WITH READING THE CODES. THEY DROVE MY CAR FOR 8 MILES TRYING TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. I'M 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND FEELING VERY UNSAFE IN MY CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT IT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT IF IT DOES, GO TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE STARTING MAKING A HIGH PITCH WHISTLING/SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN I PUSHING DOWN ON MY BRAKE PEDAL WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. I NOTICED IT STARTED GETTING HARDER TO PUSH THE BREAK PEDAL DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO CHECK THE BRAKES. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE POWER BREAK BOOSTER HAVING THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THERE HAD ACTUALLY BEEN A RECALL ON THIS BY FORD (FOR MY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR) AND THAT A DEALERSHIP SHOULD FIX IT. I CALLED A DEALERSHIP AND GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER. THEY SHARED, WHILE THIS WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR MANY FORD EDGES, MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. AFTER LOOKING INTO IT, I FOUND THERE WERE MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH A 2013 FORD EDGE AND THAT THEIR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IF A HUNDRED PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR CAR (SAME MAKE, MODEL & YEAR) IT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE WERE MORE CARS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY, FORD HAS BEEN EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WHEN ASKING TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR TO CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO SUPERVISOR...WHICH IS CLEARLY UNTRUE. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD'S RESPONSE & THE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY BEING TAKEN WHEN THIS CLEARLY IMPACTS MORE CARS. NOW, I'M STUCK PAYING THE BILL WHICH IS ABOUT $600. I DECIDED TO SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT ENOUGH PEOPLE COME FORWARD FOR AN INVESTIGATION TO BE LAUNCHED CONCERNING THE ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE IS IN PARK WARNING MESSAGE SAYING SHIFT TO PARK
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ISSUE FIRST OCCURED JUNE 5. AS I WAS LEAVING WORK THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING/HESITATING FROM A STOP OR DURING ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP/JERK WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. WOULD NOT SWITCH TO A HIGHER GEAR. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE WOULD JUMP/JERK WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT. PERIODS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD GET TO SPEED THEN SLIP. THERE WAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS MALFUNCTION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT, AND LEFT IT WITH THEM AFTER THE SERVICE AGENT WAS BARELY ABLE TO DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE STATUS OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON JUNE 19TH, AND HAS NOT DRIVEN THE SAME PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE. THIS MORNING, JULY 13TH, WHEN I PULLED OUT ONTO THE FRONTAGE ROAD THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO SPEED AND HESITATED. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROADWAY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING HOME (15 MINUTE DRIVE) ON BOTH THE CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY WHENEVER I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES IT WOULD MAKE A HISSING SOUND, THE BRAKES WOULD FEEL SPONGY, AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE ITS NOT SLOWING DOWN OR GOING TO STOP. WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE BRAKES ONCE AGAIN MADE THE HISSING SOUND, FELT SPONGY, AND THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT GOING TO STOP. I HAD TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKES HARD AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP ALMOST REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHILE SITTING AT THE RED LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES THE HISSING SOUND GRADUALLY BECAME LOUDER THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT OFF.THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MULTIPLE CARS WERE BEHIND ME HONKING AT ME. IT TOOK A COUPLE ATTEMPTS OF PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, TURNING THE KEY AND TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION BEFORE THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO BE LIKE THIS ALL THE WAY HOME. WHEN I PULLED INTO THE GARAGE TO PARK, THE BRAKES DID THE SAME THING. IT MADE A HISSING SOUND, FELT SPONGY, FELT LIKE IT WASN'T GOING TO STOP, AND I HAD TO PRESS HARD FOR IT TO SLOWLY COME TO A STOP ALMOST HITTING THE GARAGE IN FRONT OF ME.
EACH TIME I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP MY 2013 FORD EDGE ON CITY STREETS AND ON INTERSTATES, THE BRAKE MADE A HISSING SOUND AND WAS DIFFICULT TO PUSH TO STOP MY VEHICLE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM JUNE 21 2018 SHORTLY BEFORE GOING OUT OF TOWN. UPON RETURNING, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR JULY 12. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SYSTEM SHOWED THAT MY BRAKES WERE OKAY, SO THIS MAJOR REPAIR OF $732 SURPRISED ME. AFTER RESEARCHING THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13NO2, I DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR BRAKE BOOSTERS. THE EDGE MANUFACTURING CUT OFF DATE WAS MARCH 28, 2013 AND MY EDGE WAS MANUFACTURED MAY 2, 2013. I CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO EXPRESS CONCERN THAT MY EDGE EXHIBITED THE SAME BRAKING PROBLEMS AS THOSE THAT WERE COVERED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM.I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD MY CASE WAS ESCALATED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO WOULD REVIEW IT. MY RECEIPT FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND I CALLED FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHEN THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT ASSIST ME FINANCIALLY WITH ALL OR PART OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. BECAUSE OF MY RESEARCH, I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY 2013 FORD EDGE OWNER WHOSE FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT THE OWNERS' EXPENSE. THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE DRIVER AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROADS. I HAVE INCLUDED A SCAN OF MY REPAIR RECEIPT AND A SCAN OF THE CHAT I HAD WITH THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE.
BRAKES DIFFICULT TO OPERATE, HEARD HISSING SOUND. FORD DEALER SAID IT WAS BAD BRAKE POWER BOOSTER. FORD HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SAME YEAR AND MODEL BUT NOT IF BUILT AFTER MARCH 2013. I CONTACTED FORD BUT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST, IT APPEARS MANY OTHERS HAVE SAME ISSUE, ITS NOT LOGICAL THEY WOULD NOT COVER REPLACEMENT FOR SAME YEAR MODEL AND SAME PART FAILURE. WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY GIVE TO SOME IT SAYS 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES SO THEY KNOW THE PART SHOULD NOT FAIL AT 71,000 MILES FOR SUCH A CRITICAL SAFETY PART.
THE BREAK BOOSTER WAS JUST ON RECALL LAST YEAR AND WAS FIXED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP. IT IS NOW MESSED UP AGAIN AND IS NO LONGER UNDER RECALL. THE PAINT ON THE BUMPER OF MY 2013 FORD EDGE THAT IS ALWAYS CARPORT KEPT IS PEELING.

THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER MARCH OF 2013. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.

SERVICE TECH CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS IN A MODULE CONTROLLED BY THE PCM. THIS NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMED? THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. I HAVE NO GUARANTEE IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHY DRIVING 40 MPH THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON OIL PRESSURE LOW. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP MAKING IT IN POSSIBLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAD JUST DRIVEN ON 4 HWYS TO GET HOME 50 MINUTES. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS WHY SOMEONE IS ON THE HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A MAIN THOROUGH FARE AND EVEN ON A HIGHWAY IT BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN REGARDLESS OF PRESSING THE GAS. THEN IT BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGH AND CHOKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT. ALSO EXPERIENCED IT SHUTTING OFF WHILE SITTING WITH IT IDLE IN A FAST FOOD LINE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY INSISTED NOTHING WAS WRONG AND COULD NOT GET A READ ON THE COMPUTER. I REFUSED TO PICK IT UP FROM THE DEALER UNTIL THEY EXPERIENCED WHAT I EXPERIENCED AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED AFTER 9 DAYS.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR RANDOMLY SOUNDS OFF. THIS STARTED ON OR AROUND 7/2/2018 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. HOWEVER, IT HAS SINCE PROGRESSED TO RANDOMLY DO IT WHILE IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET OR A HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSES ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON, EVEN IN HOURS OF DARKNESS.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED ON MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED FORD. THEY ADVISED ME THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL, BUT MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED. I NEED TO KNOW WHY FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR THE BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE WHEN THEY KNOW THERE IS PROBLEM. FORD ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM TO COVER CERTAIN VEHICLES. BUT REFUSE TO COVER OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE EXACT SAME DEFECT. THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED ON MY VEHICLE, MAKING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FORD WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS 48.000 MILES ON IT.

THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD OF NASHVILLE, 101 ANDERSON LANE, MADISON, TN) WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
DRIVER SIDE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS KNOWN TO BE SECURELY SHUT. THIS SIGNAL ENABLES/DISABLES FUNCTIONS IN THE CAR. SAFETY IS COMPROMISED WHEN AN ERRONEOUS SIGNAL IS BEING SENT, ESPECIALLY IF CHILDREN ARE PRESENT.
I PLACED CAR IN PARK ON FLAT GROUND, TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE, AND CAR STARTED ROLLING. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WITHIN A WEEK BUT HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE THEN. I HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN IT DID HAPPEN TO PREVENT CAR FROM MOVING WHILE PARKED.

CALLED TO SAY I COULD BRING THE CAR IN; ON 9/7/2018 THEY CALLED TO SAY THE CAR NEEDS HCL MODULE; AS OF 9/9 NO REPLACEMENT HAS BEEN MADE AWAITING DECISION BY FORD. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHICH COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTS AND/OR DEATHS. IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AFFECTING FORD EDGES FOR 2013 - FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER & HCU - MODULE OF THE ABS! THE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEMS TO BE TOTALLY REPLACED BEFORE DEATHS RESULT! FORD EDGE OWNERS ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES! TRAVELING ON SECONDARY ROAD AND EXPERIENCED SUDDEN POWER LOSS. "AWD OFF" MESSAGE APPEARED ON SCREEN, ALONG WITH WRENCH ICON. I MANAGED TO LIMP ONTO THE SHOULDER (THANK GOD I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY). CAR WOULD NOT REV UP OR MOVE. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, AND RESTARTED IT. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE AT THAT POINT, BUT I AM VERY AFRAID OF THIS HAPPENING DURING MY DAILY COMMUTE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY.

I FIND THIS VERY CONCERNING AS WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, AGES 2 AND 4. EVEN OF IT'S A SENSOR ISSUE, IT EFFECTS THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE CAR, AND THE DOME LIGHT OVERHEAD TO STAY ON FOR SOME TIME. PLUS, WHAT IF FOR NOW IT'S A SENSOR BUT LATER THE LATCH DOESN'T WORK? HOW WOULD ANYONE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IF THE LIGHT IS STILL PRESENT? THE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME, WHETHER PARKED OR IN MOTION.

MY WIFE WAS OPERATING HER VEHICLE AND NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT ON 6/17/18 BEING. ONE BY SHE TOOK IT TO MIDIS MUFFLER AND BRAKE TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. THEY PERFORMED A CHECK AND ADVISED IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THERE WAS A RECALL,EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH THE FORD, WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED APPLE FORD IN LYNCHBURG VA , THEY DIDN'T EXPRESS AND CONCERN AND WE'RE HESITANT TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE WE DIDN'T BUY THE VEHICLE THRU THEIR DEALERSHIP,AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH AND GETTING NO WHERE WE HUNG UP. WE THEN CONTACTED BERGLUND BEDFORD, VA WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THERE AND THEY ALSO SERVICED IT FOR 5 YEARS, WE AGAIN. GOT EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, TH THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM ,WHICH WAS DONE FOR FREE AT THE OTHER SHOP , THEY EXPRESSED NO CONCERN ,GAVE US A SERVICE DATE ONE AND A HALF WEEKS OUT. WE SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER NAME BRIAN WHOM ALSO DIDN'T CARE AND SAID WE DRIVE IT AT OUR RISK. A MAIN ISSUE ALL THE YEARS THEY SERVICES IT THE PROBLEM WAS KNOWN AND THEY DID NOTHING, WE EVEN HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED AND SERVICED IN OCT 2017 . THEY CHOSE TO LET AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION OCCUR.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE WILL EXHIBIT A FULL LOSS OF POWER. AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND TRYING TO RESTART IT WILL EXPERIENCE A LONG AND HARD START. THE VEHICLE WILL DO THIS WEATHER YOU ARE DRIVING 5MPH OR 70 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS WITH MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
MY VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR FORD BULLETIN 13N02 AND FORD WONT COVER COST OF REPAIR. BULLETIN STATES YEAR 2013 AND VEHICLES BUILT AT OAKVILLE PLANT IN CANADA. I FEEL MY SAFETY REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED, YET I HAD TO PAY $480 OUT OF POCKET. FORD HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO TELL ME WHY IT NOT BEING COVERED

THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
