DRIVER DOOR AJAR REMAINS ON WITH DOOR CLOSED. CANNOT LOCK DOORS AND LIGHTS DRAIN BATTERY.
LEAKING PTU. $1800 TO REPAIR. READ ON INTERNET THAT'S IT'S A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM CAUSED BY A DESIGN ISSUE. THERE IS NO WAY TO DRAIN FLUSH AND REFILL THE PTU APPARENTLY SOME COMPANIES ARE DRILLING AND TAPPING THE UNIT TO ADD A NEEDED PLUG. FORD WAS NOT INTERESTED IN ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. MY CASE NUMBER WITH FORD IS CAS 13398813
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL BE CLOSED PROPERLY AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL TURN ON.
DOOR AJAR WARNING. THE CAR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN YOU SHUT THE DOOR. WHEN YOU START THE CAR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE WARNING LIGHT FOR DOOR AJAR STAYS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE ERROR CODE SHIFT TO PARK DINGS EVERYTIME YOU TAKE OFF FROM A STOP. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING AND IN MOTION. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY THEY IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND LOCKED FROM THE FOB THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME. THIS IS VERY DRAINING ON THE BATTERY.
'DRIVER DOOR AJAR' NOTIFICATION IS PRESENT WHILE IN MOTION IN SPITE OF DOOR BEING CLOSED/LATCHED. DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE IN THE CAR (WHETHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY) & ALARM CANNOT BE SET BECAUSE OF THIS. SEVERAL TIMES, THE NOTIFICATION WASN'T PRESENT ONLY TO POP UP WHILE DRIVING & DOORS UNLOCKED & WOULDN'T LOCK AGAIN. SOMETIMES NOTIFICATION GOES AWAY BUT IT'S BEEN INCREASING IN FREQUENCY THE LAST MONTH & A HALF. "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" NOTIFICATION IS PRESENT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. SAFETY IS AN ISSUE & FRUSTRATION IS HIGH. SLAMMING THE DOOR DOESN'T WORK. SHUTTING THE DOOR LIGHTLY DOESN'T WORK. SHUTTING THE DOOR NORMALLY DOESN'T WORK. THERE'S NO RHYME OF REASON TO IT. REGARDING "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN", IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST MONTH & A HALF (BEGINNING OF SEPT UNTIL NOW) .
CAPLESS GAS CAP KEEPS GIVING THE INDICATION LIGHT TO CHECK & LOSING GAS MILEAGE BUT NO SMELL OF GAS
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR IS INDICATED AS ALWAYS OPEN/AJAR. THE ON-DASH WARNING SHOWS UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVEN IN REVERSE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FORWARD, THE LIGHTS FADE OUT BUT THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IN MY GARAGE, THE CONVENIENCE LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY TURN ON. THIS STARTED HAPPENING CLOSE TO TWO YEARS AGO AND WAS INTERMITTENT. NOW IT IS VERY CONSISTENT. I USED 10/15/2017 FOR THIS REPORT SINCE I DON'T REMEMBER WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN JULY OF LAST YEAR, IT IS NOW OCTOBER. MY HEAT WORKED FINE THIS PAST WINTER BUT SINCE TRYING TO USE IT THIS YEAR SINCE IT HAS STARTED GETTING COLDER, ALL I GET IS COLD AIR. I HAVE EVEN HAD THE THERMOSTAT REPLACED WHICH MADE IT WORK FOR A DAY BUT HAD TO TAKE MY CAR BACK IN 2 DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR. MY MECHANIC SAID IT IS THE COMPUTER WHICH I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT IN MY WARRANTY GUIDE. I KNOW I AM NOT THE FIRST ONE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES AS I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF I COULD GET SOME HELP GETTING THIS ISSUE RESOLVED SOON DUE TO MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON WITH DOORS FULLY SHUT. CAN HAPPEN WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING. DOOR LOCKS DO NOT ACTUATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. HAS RUN BATTERY DEAD 3 TIMES. VEHICLE HAS 49,000 MILES AND IS KEPT IN GARAGE.
DIFFICULT TO STOP. PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I HEAR A HISSING NOISE LIKE AN AIR LEAK AND A HIGH PITCHED SOUND. AFTER COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STILL WANTS TO MOVE FORWARD. MUST PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL REAL HARD TO GET IT TO STOP. HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING IN AN ACCIDENT AND CURRENTLY UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HAD MECHANIC CHECK VEHICLE AND THEY EXPLAINED THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS NOT WORKING AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.
MOTOR DIES WHILE DRIVING . TURN OFF KEY WILL START BACK , MOTOR WILL DIE ON CITY STREET AND ON HIGHWAY AT ANY SPEED CAN NOT FIND OUT WHY
WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DIE BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ONCE IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND ONCE AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO CAUSE THE PROBLEM OR PREVENT IT. DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FOR $524.00
WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO, I WOULD BE DRIVING AND THE CAR WOULD SIMPLY BEGIN SLOWING DOWN UNTIL IT WAS STOPPED, NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS I TRIED TO GIVE IT. AFTER THIS HAPPENING 2 TIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY AND CHANGED IT. I GOT THE CAR BACK APPROX. 2 WEEKS AGO. LAST FRIDAY, 10/6/17, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND THE SAME THING AGAIN, EXPECT THIS TIME, THE AUTOTRAIN ERROR (A WRENCH) CAME ON, AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT STOPPED 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME - EACH TIME I PULLED OVER (AS WELL AS I COULD), TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RECRANKED IT. EACH TIME I WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND RECRANK IT, THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF AND THEN COME BACK ON AS SOON AS THE CAR LOST POWER AGAIN. I FINALLY GOT IT HOME. MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO PUT A NEW BATTERY IN (SINCE I'M ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS THE DOOR OPEN ALERT - ANOTHER STORY). AFTER PUTTING THE BATTERY IN, HE DROVE IT AROUND FOR 30 MINUTES OR SO WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT WORKED FINE ALL WEEKEND. THE FOLLOWING WEDN., 10/11/17, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER AGAIN - ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT NOTHING HAPPENING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE AUTOTRAIN & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, TURN IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN CAME ON TO WORK WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS. IT'S TERRIFYING NOT KNOWING WHEN IT'S GOING TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET & DISCOVERED THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME PROBLEM & HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I'M TAKING IT BACK TO FORD THIS EVENING. IF MORE THAN A FEW PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS, THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY FORD. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT.
BATTERY DRAIN FROM SOMETHING. CAR BATTERY WILL GO DEAD FOR NO REASON. I'VE HAD TO HAVE CAR JUMP STARTED 5 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS. NO GETTING BATTERY SAVER MODE IS OFF. BATTERY WILL TEST GOOD WITH PROPER VOLTAGE. THEN IT WILL TEST AT 9 VOLTS. JUMP IT AND IT WILL BE FINE AND CHARGE. THEN IT WILL GO DEAD AGAIN. SOMETHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND FORD HAS NO CLUE BUT TO SAY LET'S PUT A NEW BATTERY IN. AND THEN THE NEW BATTERY WILL GO DEAD.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DASH ALWAYS ON WHEN IGNITION KEY IS INSERTED - DOORS SECURELY LATCHED - DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, DRAINING BATTERY - DOORS WON'T LOCK FOR SAFETY IN MOTION - DEALER TRYING TO ACT LIKE THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT, ALTHOUGH THOUSANDS MENTIONED ONLINE - VEHICLE HAS 30600 MILES
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH. DOOR IS CLOSED AND DOOR AJAR ALARM STAYS ON CAUSING BATTERY DRAIN IF YOU DON'T GET IT TO GO OFF. BATTERY HAS WENT DEAD 5 TIMES BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO IF DOOR AJAR ALARM IS ON. THIS ALSO CAUSES DOOR LOCKS NOT TO WORK. FORDS FIX IS TO SERVICE THE LATCH WITH CLEANING THAT LASTS ONLY A COUPLE MONTHS AT $250.00. TO REPLACE LATCH CAN BE IN EXCESS OF $500.00 FOR A $50.00 PART. A BATTERY CAN ONLY TAKE GOING DEAD SO MANY TIMES. BATTERY'S CAN COST WELL OVER $100.00 DOLLARS TO REPLACE.
DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR SENSOR ALWAYS STATES THE DOOR IS OPEN, WON'T TURN OF INTERIOR LIGHTS SO AFFECTING VISION WHILE DRIVING. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ONE DUE TO DOOR NOT CLOSED SO BATTERY IS DYING. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS FOR SMALL CHILDREN . CHILD SAFETY LOCK WILL NOT WORK DUE TO THE SENSOR SAYING THE DOOR IS OPEN
2ND TIME I GET THE SHIFT TO PARK ERROR. FORD FIXED IT 1 TIME ALREADY UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. IF YOU DON'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE VEHICLE, IT WILL KILL YOUR BATTERY.
NOTED A HISSING SOUND WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKE PETAL, THEN A SPONGE PETAL WITH LITTLE EFFECT ON BRAKING AND FINALLY THE LOSS OF ANY BRAKE BOOSTER OR POWER BRAKE EFFECT WHILE BRAKING. DEALER SAID SOME VEHICLES HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT OTHERS, LIKE MINE, MAGICALLY DID NOT!
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN ALL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING POWER STEERING STOPPED DURING A LEFT TURN. UPON INSPECTION, BATTERY WAS DEAD. PRIOR TO THIS, THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING INDICATOR WAS LIGHT, DESPITE THE DOOR BEING LATCHED. CERTIFIED FORD SERVICE CENTER SAID THAT THE DOOR WAS INDEED LATCHED, SO THERE WAS NO SAFETY ISSUE THERE. HOWEVER, DIDN'T INFORM THAT IT WOULD DRAIN BATTERY. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE PARKING HEADLIGHTS WOULD COME ON, ALONG WITH DOME LIGHT WHEN NOT IN OPERATION.
WHILE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED, HISSING OCCURRED FOR ABOUT 7-10 DAYS. THEN, WHILE TRAVELING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF, AND COULD BARELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS NOW, INCLUDING NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP IN A DRIVE THROUGH, AND PASSING THE WINDOW.
A COUPLE WEEKS AGO THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. I'VE REPEATEDLY CHECKED THE CONDITION OF THE DOORS AND LIGHT DOESN'T GO OFF. I'VE READ OF THE PROBLEM ON LINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE, EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, AND KNOWN TO CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY LIFE AND OPERATION OF THE LOCKING/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
DRIVING ALONG ON FREEWAY FEEDER AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY DID NOT WORK AND I COULD NOT DRIVE MY CAR. HAD TO STOP AND PUT ON EMERGENCY BLINKERS. HAD TO SPEND $542.99 TO GET IT FIXED AS IT WAS NOT CONTROLLABLE. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT, FLOOD OR ETC.
THE REAR WIPER STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH IS IN OFF POSITION. IT HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHILE STATIONARY.
THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON BUT THE DOORS ARE SHUT TIGHT ALSO THE DOORS COME UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT US TOUCHING ANY BUTTONS.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, BECAUSE OF THAT INSIDE LIGHTS STAYS ALSO ON AND DRAINS MY BATTERY. (I ALREADY REPLACE BATTERY). I HATE TO BE THROWING MY DOOR TO TRY TO SHUT OFF THAT LIGHT AJAR AND THAT IT'S CAUSING A MARK ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY DOOR. I JUST BOUGHT MY EDGE LAST YEAR AND APPARENTLY A LOT OF PEOPLES ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT'S NOT MARK AS A RECALL WHEN IT'S FACTORY FAULT. THE PROBLEM STARTED AS JUST SOUNDING LIKE AIR PRESSURE WAS RELEASING FROM THE BREAK PEDDLE. BEFORE I COULD GET IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE BREAKS STARTED LOCKING UP IN THE BREAK PEDDLE TO WHERE I COULDN'T STOP SAFELY AND FEEL COMFORTABLE TRANSPORTING MY SELF OR MY 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I ALSO IN THE SAME TWO DAYS WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE BREAK UNDER MY FOOT SLOWLY PUSHED UP AT A RED LIGHT 30 SECONDS OR SO, AND THEN LOCKED AND MY CAR TURNED OFF WHILE IT WAS IN GEAR. THIS, ALL APART OF THE RECALL, I'M BEING TOLD IS MY PROBLEM NOT THEIRS, BECAUSE MY CAR WAS "BORN" OR MADE ONLY 5 MONTHS AFTER THEY THOUGHT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH TH NEW CARS BEING MANUFACTURED. I AM GOING TO FIGHT BACK AND INVESTIGATE THIS TO THE BITTER END. I WANT A SAFE CAR. IT HAS 74,000. MILES ON IT, A BREAK ISSUE IS A HUGE ISSUE. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE IN LIFE AND DEATH.
BREAK BOOSTER FAILED
I BEGAN TO NOTICE A WHISTLING SOUND WHEN I STEP ON MY BRAKES AFTER STARTING BUT BEFORE MOVING. IN ADDITION THE BRAKES FELT SPONGY WHEN STOPPING. I GOOGLED THE SYMPTOMS AND CAME UP WITH FORD SERVICE BULLETIN 13N02 CONCERNING TEARS IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER MEMBRANE. THE DEALER INDICATED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2013 EDGE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS SERVICE CAMPAIGN EXTENDED AS THE THERE APPEARS TO BE AFFECTED EDGES OUTSIDE THE CURRENT VIN # THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THOSE COVERED UNDER 13N02
WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR COME ON AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO A CRAWL WITH LIMITED ACCELERATION, MORE LIKE IDLE SPEED. THE SITUATION HAPPENS 1X-2X PER WEEK. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTING THE CAR WILL RUN NORMALL. THIS HAS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES WITH NO OTHER INFLUENCES LIKE WEATHER. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO BE IN THE CAR WHEN THIS SITUATION OCCURS. YOU ARE IMMEDIATELY PUT INTO UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE TRAFFIC ISSUES. EVEN MORE FREIGHTENIN IS YOU BECOME A TARGET TO BE IN AN ACCCIDENT IF OTHERS ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO YOU SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED.
ABS SYSTEM FAILURE - WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN FULL SPEED MOTION AND AFTER APPLYING BRAKES FIRMLY FOR AN ABRUPT STOP, THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILS TO DISTRIBUTE POWER EQUALLY TO EACH BRAKE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FAIL IN TWO SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE FEATURES. FIRST APPLYING FULL BRAKING CAPACITY TO SLOW THE VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY. SECOND, THE VEHICLE PULLS TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER IN A RANDOM FASHION. THIS PERFORMANCE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE POWER BRAKING CAPACITY IS LESS THAN 30 PERCENT. THIS FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE FAILURE OR CHOSE NOT TO. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARRANTY ISSUE BUT WAS NOT SINCE THE DEALER DID NOT IDENTIFY DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, I WAS FORCED TO PAY THE FULL REPAIR COST MONTHS LATER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHILE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE, IT ROLLED AWAY AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CAME TO A STOP ON A BARBWIRED FENCE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT WAS DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHNSON-SEWELL FORD-LINCOLN (830-693-5577, LOCATED AT 3301 US-281, MARBLE FALLS, TX 78654) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED A DISCOUNT TOWARDS THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD EDGE WHICH BEGAN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SWITCH AT APPROXIMATELY 50K MILES. THE SWITCH WAS REPAIRED BY A FORD DEALER AT APPROXIMATELY 61K MILES AND WITHIN 6 MONTHS BEGAN TO REOCCUR. NOW A YEAR LATER AT 79K MILES IT COMES AND GOES MOST EVERYDAY IT IS DRIVEN. SOME DAYS IT IS WHEN YOU FIRST GET IN THE VEHICLE, OTHER DAYS IT MAY SUDDENLY UNLOCK THE DOORS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SOUND THE ALARM TELLING YOU TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY HAZARD THAT FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT. BLINDING LIGHTS AT NIGHT, DOORS THAT WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD POSES A SAFETY RISK FOR CHILDREN OPERATING DOORS AS WELL AS THE ADULT OCCUPANTS. NOT TO MENTION THE SECURITY RISK WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A QUESTIONABLE AREA AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THE CONSTANT DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS ANYTIME YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE FROM THE AUDIBLE ALERT TELLING YOU TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT APPEARS WILL NOT BE CORRECTED UNTIL ENOUGH PEOPLE DIE. IT HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS AND STILL NO RECALL. ALL AT THE RISK OF THE VICTIMS THAT BOUGHT THESE CARS FROM FORD. WHY SHOULD THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES BE FORCED TO PAY FORD TO REPAIR THESE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS EVERY 6-12 MONTHS. WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC BE EXPOSED TO THE RISK OF CRASHES FROM THE DISTRACTION AND PEOPLE HAVING TO REPEATEDLY SLAM THEIR DOORS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TO TRY AND SATISFY THE DEFECTIVE SWITCHES? THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE FORD TO DEVELOP A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE KIDS FALL OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE.

A WARNING PANEL DECLARING THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS AJAR COMES UP WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR WHETHER WE ARE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. ALSO, ANOTHER PANEL DIRECTS ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. WHEN THE DOOR IS AJAR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHICH IS DANGEROUS AT NIGHT BECAUSE IT DIMINISHES VISIBILITY. IT IS A SAFETY DEFECT.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON RUNNING INTERIOR LIGHTS CAUSING BATTERY USAGE EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. TRYING TO OPEN AND CLOSE DOOR WHILE DRIVING TO ELIMINATE DOOR AJAR COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND FIX.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE KEEPS TELLING ME MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS AJAR, IT KEEPS BEEPING WHEN I AM DRIVING, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN I TRY AND LOCK THE CAR WHEN I ARRIVE HOME AND THEY DON'T GO OFF AND DRAIN THE BATTERY. I ONLY HAVE 25,900 MILES ON MY CAR AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFTER IN ORDER TO DOWNSHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEN GRODY FORD (6211 BEACH BLVD, BUENA PARK CA 90621, (714) 521-3110) AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE ESCALATED TO KEN GRODY FORD. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,700.
9/1/17, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR LOST POWER BUT I WAS ABLE TO LIMP OUT OF TRAFFIC. HERE IS THE UNSAFE THING'.. WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE ACCELERATOR SURGED TWO OR THREE TIMES FORCING ME TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE TO KEEP IT FROM ACCELERATING FURTHER. THE ENGINE RPMS WENT FROM IDLE (APPROX. 600RPM) TO 3000RPM WHILE MY FOOT WAS PRESSING ONLY ON THE BRAKE AND THE WRENCH SYMBOL DISPLAYED ALONGSIDE THE SPEEDO. 15 MINUTES LATER, IT HAPPED AGAIN. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, THE WRENCH DISPLAYED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE STOPPING, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND FORCED ME TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL TO CONTROL IT WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE. IF THERE WAS ANYONE INFRONT OF ME, I WOULD HAVE SURGED AND REAR-ENDED THEM CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURY. THERE IS A LOT OF HISTORY ON THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES AND THEIR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION PROBLEMS IN THE EDGE, ESCAPE, EXPLORER, AND MUSTANGS. PLEASE GET THIS MAKE MODEL INCLUDED IN A RECALL.
DOOR WON'T STAY LOCKED WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND THE DOORS WON'T LOCK WHEN I'M DRIVING. DOOR ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF, SHOWING THAT DOOR ISN'T LATCHED PROPERLY.
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR WILL RANDOMLY SAY THAT THE DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR. IT ALSO AUTOMATICALLY TURNS THE DOME LIGHTS ON AS PART OF THE ALERT WHICH IS IN TURN BURNING UP MY BATTERY. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH CAUSES SAFETY ISSUE BY LEAVING MY VEHICLE UNLOCKED. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED EVERY TIME FOR THE VEHICLE TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.

SEEMS TO BE THE 'SEAT TRACK', IT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A FAULTY ITEM ON FORD EDGE MODELS ALL THE WAY FROM VERY BEGINNING OF VEHICLES HITTING THE MARKET,
WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT IN DASH APPEARS "SHIFT TO PARK" ACCOMPANIED WITH A WARNING NOISE
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP CAR BEEPS AND INDICATES TO "PUT IN PARK". WHEN CAR IS IN PARK, ENGINE OFF, KEY REMOVED AND DOOR CLOSED THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON AND DOES NOT GO OFF. THIS BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2017 AND CONTINUES TO THIS DAY 1/17/18.
AUGUST 31, 2017: TRAVELING 80MPH (WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL, IN LEFT HAND LANE THAT HAD NO SHOULDER), ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, DROPPED BELOW IDLE SPEED, & RUNNING ROUGH. MANAGED TO LIMP CAR TO RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT! INFO SYSTEM DISPLAYED A "YELLOW WRENCH" "SEE OWNER'S MANUAL." HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT UNDER 40 MPH. ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY ONE TIME WITH "LOW OIL PRESSURE" MESSAGE. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN CHECKED. NO CODES & OIL SYSTEM IS FINE. HAVE DISCOVERED ON LINE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THROTTLE BODY ACROSS SEVERAL FORD MODELS. THE SECOND TIME THIS FAILED WAS RIGHT AFTER MAKING A TURN. THIS LAST INCIDENT WHICH HAS BROUGHT ME HERE TO LODGE A COMPLAINT, WAS VERY SCARY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR LOSS OF LIFE. WHY ARE THERE NO RECALLS! I HAVE JUST FOUND A CALIFORNIA CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING FORD THROTTLE DECELERATION DEFECT. AFTER EACH INCIDENT THE CAR RESTARTS & RUNS NORMAL. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT GOING TO QUIT!
1. THE 'DOOR AJAR' SENSOR IS TELLING THE CAR THAT THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN. AS A RESULT, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ALL THE TIME, WHICH CAUSES VISIBILITY ISSUES WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT ALSO LEAVES THE LIGHTS ON EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND DOORS ARE LOCKED, WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY, AND HAS CAUSED MY WIFE TO BE STRANDED A COUPLE OF TIMES. WE REPLACED THE SWITCH AND A YEAR LATER, WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. OUR DAUGHTER OFTEN DRIVES THE CAR TO COLLEGE AT NIGHT AND HAS BEEN STRANDED AT LEAST TWICE AFTER GETTING OUT OF CLASS AT 10 PM. THIS PROBLEM HAS GONE BEYOND A NUISANCE AND IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED FORD DEALER TO COMPLAIN AGAIN, THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN FIX IT, BY REPLACING THE SWITCH ASSEMBLY ON THE DOOR LOCK, FOR $400. SO FAR, THIS SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN 4 YEARS AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. 2. OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS, THE LIGHT FOR "SHIFT TO PARK" COME ON RANDOMLY. MOST OFTEN, IT IS WHEN MY WIFE IS STOPPED AT THE LIGHT. THE MOMENT SHE TAKES HER FEET OFF THE BREAK, THE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON UNTIL SHE STEPS ON THE GAS AND THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEMS. RIGHT AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, AT THE STOP LIGHT, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IF WE WANTED THEM TO LOOK AT IT, THEY WILL HAVE TO CHARGE US ANOTHER $140 FOR THE TESTS. EITHER THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING OR THEY HAVE A GOOD SCAM GOING. THEY CHARGE PEOPLE AND TELL THEM THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, AND HAVE THEM BRING IT BACK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER CHARGE.
