WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, MY HAD COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND I HAD LESS THEN 20 SECONDS TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER HOWEVER EVERYTHING LOCKED UP AND I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR 30 SECONDS AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT BY 2 DIFFERENT SERVICE CENTERS AND THEY DIDNT FIND A PROBLEM. I DROVE IT AGAIN, AND IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES ON THE FREEWAY FROM SAN DIEGO TO ORANGE COUNTY. I HAD MY CAR TOWED, DID MY OWN RESEARCH AND LEARNED THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES FOR MY SPECIFIC YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT COVERING IT. I AM SELLING THIS CAR BECAUSE I AM FEARFUL FOR MY LIFE AND MY BABY GIRL THAT WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES, EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TIRES ARE INFLATED TO PROPER PRESSURE. DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A VALID PROBLEM WITH TIRE PRESSURE - IF I IGNORE THE WARNING LIGHT AND THE TIRES REALLY ARE NOT AT CORRECT PRESSURE, I TAKE THE RISK OF HAVING A BLOW-OUT TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYING ON FOR DRIVER DOOR. ALERT KEEPS TELLING ME TO PUT CAR IN PARK WHILE CAR IS IIN MOTION. DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. DONE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENED IN EARLY 2016 AS WELL, FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENTIRE DOOR MECHANISM SO THIS PART IS ONLY 16 MONTHS OLD.
DOOR AJAR SENSORS ARE FAULTY, CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS WHILE DRIVING, MOSTLY AT NIGHT TINE..
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, NO SPECIAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS, ENGINE RPM DROPPED WITHOUT WARNING TO 400 RPM, CAR SPEED LIMITED TO 1 MPH. HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OFF 45 MPH, 4-LAND HWY. THRU HEAVY TRAFFIC TO REACH SIDE STREET (NO SHOULDER AVAILABLE). ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN - BUT NO RESPONSE TO THROTTLE PEDAL. CONDITION KNOWN AS "LIMP MODE". TURNED ENGINE OFF, WAITED FEW MINUTES, STARTED BACK UP NORMALLY. DEALER UNABLE TO PULL ERROR CODE. HOWEVER, RESEARCH AND COMPLAINTS FILED ON-LINE SHOW THIS IS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH FORD ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS IS DEFINATELY A SAFETY ISSUE. MANY OTHER FORD MODELS HAVE HAD RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE ETB'S - BUT NOT MY VIN. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IS INDICATED BY "YELLOW WRENCH" INDICATOR - BUT SUDDEN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER IS SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE ON ROADS WITHOUT SHOULDER, OR WORSE, HEAVY MULTI-LANE TRAFFIC OR NARROW BRIDGES. FORD ACCEPTED COMPLAINT - BUT REFUSED EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE - DEALER CHARGES FOR REPLACEMENT ETB INSTALLATION WERE NOT SUBSIDIZED BY FORD. IF FORD ETB'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS, ALL ETB'S SHOULD BE RECALLED. SEVERE, SCARY, RELIABILITY & SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND PUT IN DRIVE, "ENGINE ON" WARNING COMES ON, FOLLOWED BY, "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WARNING. NEXT MESSAGE IS TO PUT CAR IN PARK. DOOR IS NOT AJAR, BUT OPENING AND SLAMMING DOOR SOLVES THE PROBLEM. INTERMITTENTLY, THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITHOUT THE KEY BEING USED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. PASSENGER DOOR IS UNAFFECTED.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CONSTANTLY SHOWS AS " DOOR AJAR" I HAVE TRIED LUBRICATING SWITCH AND BLOWING AIR ACROSS SWITCH AND IT STILL STAYS ON. I HAVE TRIED CLOSING DOOR WITH FORCE AND IT STILL REGISTERS AS AJAR. THE PROBLEM IS IT CONSTANTLY MAKES A NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND THE DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL DRAIN MY BATTERY AND I WONT KNOW FOR SURE THAT THE DOOR ISN'T AJAR AND I WILL NOT BE AWARE IF IS IN REALITY AJAR. THIS COULD BEE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS OCCURS WHEN I GET IN THE CAR AND START THE IGNITION, ALSO OCCURS WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND CLOSE AND LOCK THE CAR DOORS. THERE IS NOTHING TO TAKE A PICTURE OF, IT IS JUST A MICRO SWITCH MALFUNCTION. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE LAST YEAR PLUS.
CONSTANT DOOR ADJAR WARNINGS. UPON CLOSING THE DRIVERS DOOR, THE DOOR ADJAR WARNING GOES OFF, AND I CAN NOT LOCK MY DOOR AFTER THIS WARNING GOES OFF. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT IF IT IS THROWING THIS DOOR ADJAR WARNING WHEN YOU PARK YOUR CAR, THE DOME LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND DRAIN YOUR BATTERY. THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FAILURE, AND NEEDS HAVE A RECALL ISSUED. IF YOU CAN NOT LOCK YOUR DOORS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING....NOW DAYS THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. CAN YOU SAY CARJACKING WAITING TO HAPPEN?? THINK ABOUT YOUR FAMILY, DRIVING IN A CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM...NOT A GOOD FEELING HUH? MAKE THIS A RECALL FORD! STAND BEHIND YOUR VEHICLES THAT YOU SELL !!!!!
DOOR LATCH DOES NOT PROPERLY SECURE. DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND VEHICLE ALARM WILL NOT ACTIVATE BECAUSE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT ENGAGE. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANTLY; WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, STANDING, PARKED, ENGINE RUNNING AND ENGINE NOT RUNNING. LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT ALSO REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES, EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TIRES ARE INFLATED TO PROPER PRESSURE.
DOOR LATCH SENSOR INDICATED DOOR OPENED (LEFT REAR), TURNING ON CABIN LIGHTS AND STARTLING DRIVER. HAD TO MAKE EMERGENCY STOP TO IDENTIFY CAUSE. PROBLEM KEEPS REPEATING.
2ND AND 3RD CYLINDERS IN MY 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE ARE MISFIRING. CAR HAS 63000 MILES. CAR SHAKES WHEN IDLING AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. CAR DRIVES AT 6000 RPM WHEN GOING 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR SHAKES AND JERKS WHEN DRIVING. CHANGED ENGINE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THAT DID NOTHING.
DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH - THE DEFECT IS NOT COVERED IN OTHER RECALL FOR FORD MODELS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS SAFETY CONCERN AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE.
ALL FOUR ROTORS FAILED BEFORE THE BRAKE PADS FAILED. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN LIGHTLY USED. IT SEEMS THE BRAKE ROTORS ARE MADE OF DEFECTIVE MATERIALS SUBJECT TO ABNORMAL CORROSION. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO COVER THE PARTS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I WILL HAVE TO RESOLVE AND PAY FOR.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WON'T TURN OFF AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. REPEATED SLAMMING OF DOOR DOESN'T RELEASE DOOR AJAR SENSOR. DOOR AJAR WILL COME ON DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE. INTERIOR LIGHT REMAIN ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED.
VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW AND NOW HAS 60000 MILES. WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS BEFORE 06/14/17. DRIVING TO WORK, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT FUNCTION AND SPEEDOMETER QUIT REGISTERING. THE YELLOW WRENCH CAME ON INDICATING THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF POWERTRAIN FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS ON A TWO-LANE BRIDGE AND HAD TO LIMP TO THE OTHER SIDE TO SAFELY PULL OVER. WAS NOT ABLE TO TRAVEL MORE THAN 1-2 MILES PER HOUR. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND DECIDED TO RESTART THE CAR. VEHICLE WORKED NORMALLY AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE INTO WORK. CONTACTED FORD SERVICE AND MAKE APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING FOR DIAGNOSIS. TECHNICIAN VERIFIED CONCERN, TRIED TO PULL A CODE, WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ONE, BUT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY INTERNAL FAILURE AND REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED PCM. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM AND PART BY FORD BUT NOT FOR THE EDGE. HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE MANY EDGE OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE SIMILAR TO SAME MODEL YEAR VEHICLES WHICH HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLES VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM.
FORD HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON THE EDGE. BEING PROACTIVE TO HAVE MINE MY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE'S SPEED REDUCED AND WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO 4 MPH. A WRENCH WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (PINES FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 8655 PINES BLVD, PEMBROKE PINES, FL 33024; (954) 443-7000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-436-7332 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. CASE NUMBER: CAS12510115 WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
DRIVER DOOR SWITCH, DOOR AJAR STAYS ON ALL THE TIME, CAR ALWAYS THINKS TH DOOR IS OPEN.
DOOR AJAR SIGNAL & INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. CAUSES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD SINCE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN DRIVING, LEAVES INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY WHEN CAR IS OFF & IN PARK, & UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS WHEN IN VEHICLE WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE IN DRIVE. HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY OVER MULTIPLE WEEKS & MONTHS.
I HIT JUST A LITTLE OVER 60 K MILES ON MY 2013 FORD EDGE AND I WAS ALSO DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WHEN IT WAS GETTING SERVICED, THEY OFFERED ME MAINTENANCE ON MY CAR AS IT WAS DUE. I DECLINED. WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR THE 'DOOR AJAR' LIGHT STARTED TO SOUND SO I OPENED AND SHUT MY DOOR BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT CORRECT. I WENT ABOUT MY DAILY ROUTINES AND IT HAS NOT STOPPED AND IT'S VERY ANNOYING AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T SHUT OFF CAUSING THE PANELS TO BECOME VERY HOT. NOW THE INSIDE PANEL/SCREEN HAS FROZEN UP AND I KEEP HAVING TO RESET IT. I CALLED FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY ONLY WANT ME TO BRING IT IN (SO THEY CAN CHARGE ME THE $500+ TO FIX IT). THIS IS A RIPOFF!!! MY DOOR WON'T LOCK EITHER. I LIVE ALONE IN A RATHER LARGE CITY AND THERE ARE BEGGARS ON JUST ABOUT EVERY CORNER. THIS MORNING, ONE CAME UP TO MY CAR AND TAPPED ON MY WINDOW WANTING MONEY. MY DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AND I WAS SCARED TO DEATH. ANYONE CAN OPEN MY DOOR AT A STOP LIGHT OR WHEREVER I AM AND I AM NOT SECURE. FORD KNOWS THIS IS HAPPENING AND WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT'S A SCAM TO GET MONEY FROM EVERYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND I AM NOW CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY.
LAST YEAR I BROUGHT MY EDGE IN FOR DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO A FORD DEALER. THEY FIXED IT AND IT COST 225.00. THIS WAS JULY 14 2016. IT HAS STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING LESS THEN A YEAR. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF YOU JUST PRESS THE OK AND THE LIGHT GOES OUT THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. AND IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK THEY CAN STILL OPEN THE DOOR.. FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO HAVE THIS FIX NOT THE CONSUMER.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS SAYING THE DOOR IN MY 2013 FORD EDGE (WITH LESS THAN 35,000 MILES) IS OPEN WHEN IN FACT IT IS CLOSED. IT WILL POP ON WHILE I AM DRIVING, SOUNDING AN ALERT AND TURNING ON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. (WHICH IS ENOUGH TO SCARE THE HECK OUT OF YOU) OTHER TIMES, WHEN I GET IN OR OUT OF THE DOOR IT WILL JUST STAY ON. THIS LEAVES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON DRAINING THE BATTERY TO DEAD.SO AS OF LATELY, I HAVE BEEN GETTING IN AND OUT THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHILE THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED AND SEATED. FORD STATES THAT THE LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $465. MULTIPLE OTHER PROFESSIONAL OPINIONS HAVE STATED THAT THE LATCH IS UNNECESSARY AND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINING ON AFTER CLEANING VARIOUS PARTS, REPLACING PARTS, AND SPENDING LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY ON PATCH FIXES. THE LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO AND GRADUALLY STAYED ON AS TIME PROGRESSED. ORIGINALLY, I COULD CLOSE THE OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR UP TO 3 TIMES AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF. OVER TIME THE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUALLY STAY ON. THIS BEGAN TO DRAIN THE VEHICLE BATTERY AS WELL.

DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL NOT TURN OFF WITH DOOR FULLY SHUT. THIS IS SECOND TIME AFTER WE PAID TO HAVE REPAIRED APPROX. ONE YEAR AGO.
UNSAFE ELECTRIC ISSUES, VERY CONCERN.
IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS MY FORD EDGE HAS SHUT DOWN 6 TIMES AND GOES TO LUMP MODE. AFTER PULING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTING VEHICLE EVERYTHING IS FINE THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS SO FAR I HAVE AVOIDED HAVING AN ACCIDENT BUT ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO HELP I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD FOR SERVICE AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOT ANY CODES IN SYSTEM AND WITHOUT THEM THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESSED THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT
ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THERE IS NO POWER WHEN APPLYING ACCELERATOR. HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON HIGHWAY (APPROX 70 MPH) AND SURFACE STREETS (APPROX 30 MPH). PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. THE RESTART WAS SPUTTERY BUT CAME ON AND NO MORE WRENCH LIGHT, THE VEHICLE RAN AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER TAKING IT TO A DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND NO FIX COULD BE MADE.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT LIGHT WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING AS THERE WAS NOT LIGHT ON WHEN ONE STARTED THE TRIP BUT COMES ON AFTER DRIVING A BIT, AND HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND ALSO CAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON. HAVE TO BE CAREFUL AS SOME TIMES THE LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF WHEN CAR IS PARKED. FEEL IT IS A HAZARD TO BE DRIVING AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COME ON AFTER DRIVING A WHILE IN TRAFFIC
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING WILL NOT GO OFF WITH THE DOOR CLOSED . IT WILL DO IT AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MILES AND WHEN FIRST STARTED. I CAN NO LONGER LOCK MY CAR AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND WAKE EVERYONE UP. I HAVE BEEN READING MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE,AND FOR AS MUCH AS THESE CARS COST , I CAN'T BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO FIX IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO ME NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS AT NIGHT, AND BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING, THE DOORS UNLOCK. PLEASE EXPEDITE THIS INVESTIGATION FOR MYSELF AND THE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THIS HAS AFFECTED.
SHIFT TO PARK WARNING ON THE DASH COMES ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY.CAR HAS 19,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED AS A RESULT, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL COLLINS FORD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
PURCHASED CAR JAN 2017, STARTED HAVING TROUBLES 5 MONTHS LATER + SUNROOF WON'T OPEN, THEN WHEN DOES, WON'T CLOSE. GO TO PUT IN PARK, TELLS YOU CAR ISN'T IN PARK WHEN IT IS AND SEAT WON'T MOVE! AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AT RANDOM AND STAYS ON. OF COURSE IT GOES OFF WHEN YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP! LOW AIR TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON NO MATTER THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE. NO PROBLEM WITH TIRES... TRYING TO TALK TO ANYONE ON THE CARS PHONE FEATURE HASN'T WORKED SINCE WEEK 2... 2013 FORD EDGE 3.5L V6 SEL THE DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON RANDOMLY, EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT (MOSTLY 2 LANE COUNTRY ROADS). I HAVE TO STAND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN I AM DONE DRIVING AND OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR ANYWHERE FROM 10-20 TIMES BEFORE IT GOES OFF. THIS HAS DRAINED AT LEAST 2 BATTERIES BY RANDOMLY COMING ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I HAVE REPLACED THE SWITCH, THE ENTIRE LOCK SYSTEM TWICE NOW. THE DEALER WANTS $500 TO FIX. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $500 EVERY FEW MONTHS FOR A BAD DESIGN BY FORD. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS BEEN FOR QUITE SOMETIME. JUST ABOUT EVERY EDGE OWNER HAS HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS. FORD NEEDS TO COME UP WITH THE PROPER FIX FOR ALL DOORS AND AT THEIR EXPENSE. THE CONSUMER IS GETTING RIPPED OFF BY FORD WITH THIS ISSUE.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT AND ALARM COMES ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE DOOR IS CLOSED OR HOW HARD IT IS SLAMMED, THE WARNING CONTINUES. ALSO, THE DOME LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF, AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE THE WARNING IS ON. THE NOISE IS DRIVING ME NUTS! HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR WAS 1 YEAR OLD AND NOW IT IS BACK AGAIN. 40,000 MILES SO NO WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY THEY DO NOT HAVE A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS RECURRING PROBLEM. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON AS SOON AS I START THE CAR, AND CONTINUES WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. AGAIN - THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED!!!
THE DOOR SENSORS IN THIS VEHICLE DO NOT SENSE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN IT IS. THIS LEADS TO BEING UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING, IT ALSO CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON WHEN THE CAR IS OFF EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND THE CAR IS LOCKED WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR WILL SENSE THAT IT IS CLOSED AFTER SLAMMING IT. THIS HAS LED TO AN ARM INJURY THAT I SUSTAINED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DO THIS REPEATEDLY FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND NOT A ONE-TIME OCCURRENCE.

IT LATER HAPPENED AN HOUR LATER AT A STOP LIGHT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND THEN AGAIN AT THE NEXT LIGHT ON THE ROAD. AFTER LOOKING UP POSSIBLE PROBLEMS, IT WAS FOUND THAT COUNTLESS OTHERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME STALLING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS RISK FOR DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE FORD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE SPOKEN ON THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THEY CANNOT "RECREATE THE PROBLEM". WHEN THE DRIVERS DOOR IS SHUT, THE SENSOR WILL SHOW THAT IT IS STILL OPEN AND WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES AND STAY ON SOMETIMES ONE MINUTE, SOMETIMES 5 MINUTES AND IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE DOOR IS SHUT BUT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AS WELL AS INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ONE. I HAVE HAD THIS "FIXED" BY FORD A YEAR AGO AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING.
