TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WRENCH WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED AND THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO RESET THE CODE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL NOT GO OFF, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT. WHICH MEANS THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE DOOR WAS OPENED, BUT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES, OR HOW MUCH FORCE IS USED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE NOTIFICATION WON'T GO AWAY, AND THE DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE IN MOTION.
ENGINE CONTROL MODULE-PCM. AFTER 3 YEARS OF REPLACING/REPAIRING ITEMS ON MY CAR, THEY NOW SAY THAT THE PCM IS THE CAUSE. I HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE SENSORS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, DRIVE SHAFT, TURBO, COOLING SYSTEM, AND THE LIST GOES ON. HAD THE PCM BEEN DIAGNOSED THE FIRST TIME MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND REPLACED THE SENSOR, I COULD OF SAVED A LOT OF TIME. EVERY TIME I WOULD GO IN, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WOULD SHOW 02 SENSOR WHICH WAS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES, THEN THEY WOULD SAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER, SO ON SO ON GOING DOWN THE LIST. I WOULD GET STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. NOT ONE PERSON IN THE PAST 3 YEARS SAID THE PCM WAS TO BLAME. AFTER A WEEK OF TRYING TO DIAGNOSIS MY CAR AFTER ONCE AGAIN BEING STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY, THEY ARE SAYING THE PCM. THE MECHANIC STATES THAT THE COMPUTER MODULE IS ON BACK ORDER WITH FORD. THE FORD REP STATES THAT THEY ARE SELLING THEM FASTER THAN THEY CAN BE MADE. IF THIS PART IS ON BACK ORDER (2 WEEKS) AND CAN'T KEEP THEM IN STOCK, THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE PCM FOR FORDS. EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE READ STATES IT IS VERY HARD TO DIAGNOSIS A PCM BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE A CODE THAT APPEARS WHEN IT IS FAULTY BECAUSE THIS COULD OF BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY 3 YEARS AGO BUT INSTEAD, I HAVE PAID A LOT OF OUT OF POCKET TO GET TO THIS POINT OF REPLACING THE PCM. PCM IN HIGH DEMAND WITH FORD INDICATES A RED FLAG FOR THIS PART AND ISSUE. PLEASE REVIEW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEARS FAILED TO PROPERLY SHIFT AND THERE WAS A REDUCTION OF SPEED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER THE GEAR SHIFTER, SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON TO GET THE GEAR TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE DEALER (BELK FORD IN BALTIMORE MD 410-766-3600) HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SHAFT BOOS FAILED AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS A QUART LOW AND BLACK. THE DEALER LATER INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V393000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH WAS FOR THE 2014 MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED 10 POWER TRAIN TSB BUT WITH NO RECALL CAMPAIGN, NO WARRANTY COVERAGE THEY EXPECTED THE OWNER TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,250.
THE FORD EDGE HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE PDU UNIT WHICH ACTUALLY FAILED. ACCORDING TO THE FORD MECHANICS THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE FAILURES CAUSING THE UNITS TO SPLIT OPEN REDENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. IF THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN IF FAILURE OCCURS WHEN DRIVING IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES. LUCKILY IF ONE IS VERY OBSERVANT AND NOTICES THE UNIT LEAKING OIL AND GET IT CHECKED OUT IT CAN BE REPLACED PRIOR TO TOTAL FAILURE. WHEN THE LEAK WAS SEEN ON OUR GARAGE FLOOR I GOT IT CHECKED OUT. NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON A TRIP PRIOR TO GETTING IT CHECKED OUT AND LUCKILY DID NOT FAIL DURING THE 400 MILE TRIP. WHEN WE GOT HOME THE UNIT WAS LEAKING ALOT AND WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENTS IN THE FORD WAREHOUSE SYSTEM AND THAT IT COULD TAKE 2 TO 3 WEEKS TO GET IT IN. THIS REAFFIRMS THAT ALOT OF THESE UNITS ARE FAILING AND WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL UNTIL A MORE PERMANENT IS MADE. REPLACING A BAD PART DESIGN WITH THE SAME THING IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX, JUST A BAND-AID WHICH ONLY DELAYS ANOTHER FAILURE.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING FOR MY DRIVERS SIDE STAYS ON ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THIS HAS CAUSED INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND BATTERY LIFE TO BE DRAINED. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND SIGNAL REMAIN ON ALL THE TIME.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SAYS IT'S AJAR WHEN IT'S CLOSED. AND YOU CANNOT LOCK THE VEHICLE AND THE LIGHT STAY ON LONGER. IT'S ONLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING
WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING REMAINS ON. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF CAUSING A BATTERY DRAIN. ALSO THE DOOR AJAR WARNING SOUNDS AND DOME LIGHT TURNS ON WHENEVER YOU COME TO A STOP AND THEN LIFT FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THIS MAKES IT VERY UNSAFE AT NIGHT WHEN TRYING TO BACKUP. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TO NOT ENGAGE EITHER. THIS CAR IS A LITTLE OVER THREE YEARS OLD AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. VERY POOR DESIGN ON THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR. RESEARCHING I HAVE FOUND MANY EDGE OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE. FORD SHOULD ADDRESS THIS IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE INDICATOR DIMMED AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. IT HAD A HISSING SOUND WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND THE BRAKES WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACTUATE WHEN DRIVING UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. I KNOW THERE WAS A SIMILAR RECALL ON THE FORD EDGE BUT THEY TELL ME THAT MINE IS NOT AFFECTED OR COVERED. I JUST PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT 23,126 MILES.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY LATCHED, THE DOOR CAN BE SLAMMED REPEATEDLY AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS LIT CREATING NIGHT VISION PROBLEMS, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, THESE TWO PROBLEMS CREATE VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED NUMEROUS TIMES
THE DOOR SENSOR IN DRIVERS DOOR IS NOT WORKING. IT SAYS IT'S AJAR WHEN IT'S CLOSED TIGHTLY. ISSUE IS WHEN I AM DRIVING IT WILL JUST POP ON AND INTERIOR LIGHTS POP ON AND I HAVE TO SHUT DOOR SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT SENSE IT'S SHUT AND IT MAY NOT STAY THAT WAY. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN LIGHTS POP ON AT NIGHT MAKE IT HARD TO SEE ROAD HAVE TO PULL OVER. OTHER DOWN SIDE IS IF I DON'T STAND OUTSIDE MY CAR WHEN I GET OUT TO MAKE SURE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS SHUT OFF OTHERWISE WILL DRAIN MY BATTERY AS IT IS NOT SENSING DOOR IS CLOSED.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THE DOOR CHIME BEGAN TO SOUND. WHEN THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR, THE CHIME STOPPED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED EVERY DAY FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,200.
WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SPEED CONTROL IS TURNED OFF, THE WIPER CONTINUES TO RUN. HAVE NOT FOUND A WAY TO MAKE IT STOP. SEARCHING DATABASES ONLINE, REVEALS A PROBLEM THAT IS QUITE COMMON. THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO EARLY FAILURE AND A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS COMING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS IS PREVENTING THE DOME LIGHTS FROM TURNING OFF IN ORDER TO DRIVE AND ALSO DRAINING THE BATTERY. IS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT AND WHEN I PARK MY CAR AND THE BATTERY DIES.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND NOTIFICATIONS REMAIN ON AFTER THE DOOR HAS BEEN CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR
DOOR AJAR WARNING REMAINS ON AFTER DOORS HAVE BEEN CLOSED TIGHTLY. LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DRAINS BATTERY. DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING WILL NOT GO OFF. FOUND OUT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LATCH AND I REPLACED THE LATCH. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I FOUND THIS IS A PREVALENT PROBLEM THAT FORD WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE.
CAR DOOR IS SHUT AND ALERTS THAT DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN WHEN NOT MOVING AND DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. DOME LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF, CAN'T LOCK DOOR WITH KEY PAD ON DOOR. ALARM CONTINUES TO GO OFF THAT DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT'S NOT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT ONLY HAPPENED OCCASIONALY IN MAY, NOW TODAY 7/17/17 IT WILL NOT GO OFF, SHOWS DOOR IS AJAR ALL TIME!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE SHIFTING INTO PARK, A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE APPEARED AND A BEEPING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTING AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO RE-ENTER THE VEHICLE, RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND SHIFT THE GEAR SHIFTER SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE MESSAGE AND INTERIOR LIGHTING TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON AND DOOR IS NOT OPEN
DRIVER DOOR OPEN SIGNAL STAYS ON, EVEN AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES
TWICE NOW WITHIN TWO DAYS, MY WIFE OR I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ALONG AT 20-30 MPH THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE VEHICLE HAS LOST PROPULSION. I SAY THIS BECAUSE THE MOTOR STAYS RUNNING, BUT DOESN'T ACCEPT INPUT FROM THE GAS PETAL. SERVICE WRENCH COMES ON, BUT VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS COME BACK OK. TURN VEHICLE OFF, CRANKS UP AND DRIVES FINE. THE INTERWEBS SAYS ITS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS ARE PROPERLY CLOSED. THIS LEAVES THE DOME LIGHTS ON THE ENTIRE TIME, WASTING BATTERY. IT ALSO CAUSES WARNING BELLS AND LIGHTS TO COME ON WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING A DISTRACTION.
DOOR ADJAR STAYS ON AND LIGHTS DO NOT SHUT OFF WHICH LEADS TO MY BATTERY DYING AND I CAN'T TELL IF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS EVER SHUT PROPERLY.
LH DOOR AJAR LAMP WONT LET THE INTERIOR LAMPS TURN OFF DURING VEHICLE IN USE, A REAL PROBLEM AT NIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, ALAN CAR CARE, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. WILL NOT ALWAYS LOCK IF SENSOR BELIEVES DOOR IS AJAR. TAKES MANY ATTEMPTS TO GET SENSOR TO TURN OFF.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR GOES OFF EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED PROPERLY. THIS HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY. DINGS TO 'SHIFT TO PARK'. STARTED OFF WITH HAVING TO CLOSE AND RECLOSE THE DOOR ON OCCASION. NOW IT'S UP TO 8-10 TIMES IN A ROW BEFORE THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STOPS. CAR ALARM WON'T ENGAGE. HAVE ALSO HAD TO DRIVE WITH INDICATOR CONSTANTLY DINGING WHILE DRIVING TELLING ME TO STOP AND CLOSE DOOR. LOCKS WON'T ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. CALLED MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC...WHICH WILL COST ME OVER 100 DOLLARS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A FEW COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. COSTS TO REPAIR RUN BETWEEN $350-500 ACCORDING TO REPORTS ON FORUMS. MY CAR HAS 50,000 AND IS MAINTAINED IMPECCABLY. WOULD SEEM BECAUSE THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND THE SAFETY ISSUE OF DRIVING WITH THE SENSOR GOING OFF AND NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. THIS STARTED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND HAS GOTTEN CONTINUALLY WORSE AND MORE OFTEN.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. THE DOOR WAS SHUT COMPLETELY. THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR THEREFORE STAYED ON AS IT THOUGHT THE DOOR WAS OPEN. THIS PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE AS LIGHTS SHOWED UP ON DASH AND BEEPING STARTED- TELLING ME TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR FORD- LOTS AND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE EXACT ISSUE- WHICH IS WHERE I FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE A DEALER FIX THIS- $553.46. *TR
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF ON MY 2013 FORD EDGE WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME TO REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A SERIOUS DRIVING OBSTRUCTION AND DANGEROUS CONDITION. IT IS ALSO DRAINING THE BATTERY.
DOOR AJAR/ DOOR LATCH ISSUE. WHEN MY DOOR ARE CLOSED IT STILL SAYS ITS OPEN I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR YEAR AND HALF AND I WANT TO REFUSE TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I HAVE 2 KIDS AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND MY LIGHTS IN THE CAR STAY ON. THE DEALER ONLY PULLS UP WHAT IS ON HIS COMPUTER . YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE AMOUNT OF VEHICLES THAT ARE AFFECTED.DO TO THERE RECORDS NOT BEING AVAILABLE TO YOU..
I HAVE A 2013 FORD EDGE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ILLUMINATED EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BUT NOW THE SYSTEM ALWAYS THINKS THE DOOR IS AJAR. WHEN I LOCK IT WITH MY KEYFOB, IT LOCKS BUT THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND IT HONKS TWICE, INDICATING THAT IT THINKS A DOOR IS OPEN. THIS WILL CAUSE THE CARS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, DRAINING THE BATTERY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. NOT TO MENTION THE DOME LIGHTS STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT IMPEDES MY ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE OUTSIDE AS WELL WITH LIGHTS ON INSIDE.
ENGINE SURGED WHILE PARKING, FELT LIKE IT WOULD HIT CAR PARKED IN FRONT. REMINDED ME OF MY LINCOLN TOWN CAR 2007 THAT WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE
DOOR LATCH DOESN'T LATCH DISABLING DOOR LOCKS AND IT IS A HAZARD. WAS TOLD NOT ON RECALL. HEAVY SMELL OF EXHAUST. WHEN FILLING GAS THE EVAP CODE COMES AND IT IS ROUGH TO START.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED ARM, KNEE, AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED MAJOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
AT 89000 MILES I KEEP GETTING A "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WARNING WHILE I AM DRIVING. I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AT OR ABOUT THE 90K MILE MARK. THE BATTERY WILL DRAIN BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN,THE LIGHTS STAY ON IN THE CAR THUS DRAINING BATTERY.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR DOESN'T REGISTER AND TELLS THE CAR THAT THE DOOR ISN'T CLOSED WHEN IT IS. LEADS TO DRAINED BATTERIES WHEN PARKED DUE TO CAR THINKING THE DOOR IS OPEN AND WE HAVE BEEN STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT ALSO TRIGGERS MULTIPLE ALARMS DURING THE ENTIRE DRIVING EXPERIENCE THAT ARE HAZARDOUS DUE TO TAKING ATTENTION OFF OF THE ROAD TO READ WHAT'S WRONG AND LOOK AT THE SCREEN.
DRIVER'S-SIDE DOOR CONSTANTLY SAYS "DOOR AJAR." LIGHT ON DASH DOES NOT GO OUT. IN-CAR ALARM CONSTANTLY DINGING, SAYING THE DOOR IS OPEN, WHEN IT IS CLEARLY LATCHED. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. CANNOT USE KEYLESS ENTRY BECAUSE THE CAR BELIEVES THE DOOR IS OPEN.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON
MY 2013 FORD EDGE SEL HAS A "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE INDICATOR THAT PREVENTS MY DOORS FROM LOCKING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FROM GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER PARKING. I HAVE TO "REPEATEDLY" OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR TO TRY AND GET THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE TO GO OFF AND ALLOW THE DOORS TO LOCK AND INTERIOR LIGHTS TO GO OFF. WHEN PARKING CAR AND LEAVING CAR, I REMOTELY LOCK THE DOORS, BUT THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE STAYS ILLUMINATED AND INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON (WHICH ARE HARD TO NOTICE IN THE DAY TIME AND HAS CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DRAIN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS) (THIS HAS "COST" ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK TO COME AND ELECTRICALLY JUMP MY VEHICLE TO GET IT STARTED)... I THEN HAVE TO "REPEATEDLY" CLOSE THE DRIVER DOOR TO TRY AND GET THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE TO GO OFF ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS.
WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN THE VEHICLE. BATTERY DRAINS
MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR IS FLAGGING THAT IT'S AJAR WHEN IT'S NOT.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAY AND WHICH CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DIE. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE INTERIOR LIGHTS OFF. SOMETIMES THE DOOR WON'T EVEN CATCH AND HAS FLOWN OPEN WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 8 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE VEHICLE
The backup camera stopped working properly years ago. When in reverse, the camera is either completely a black screen or upside down. I have been quoted many times by Ford that it would be $500-1,000 for me to fix this. This is a common issue with this vehicle make/model. Many other people have notified NHTSA of this issue, as well and Ford says this is VERY common yet they take no responsibility to fix it. This creates blind spots and a safety issue while backing up.
DOOR AJAR WARNING REGARDING DRIVER FRONT DOOR IS CONSTANTLY ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. IN ADDITION, EVERY TIME I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, A SHIFT TO PARK NOTIFICATION APPEARS ON MY DASHBOARD AND IT MAKES A BEEPING SOUND. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN AND MAJOR PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY.
