AT APPROXIMATELY 76,000 MILES, MY 2013 FORD EDGE'S BRAKES FAILED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE HARD TO PRESS & THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. I PRESSED DOWN HARDER & CAME TO A VERY HARD & SUDDEN STOP. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE FOLLOWING & I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I SLOWED & WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS BRAKES BECAME RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I NEEDED TO GET HOME SO I DROVE AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE STAYING AWAY FROM OTHER CARS, HOWEVER BRAKES WORKED WITHOUT ISSUES. APPROACHING HOME THERE WERE MULTIPLE STOP SIGNS & AGAIN THE BRAKES LOCKED & THE CAR DID NOT STOP. I ALSO HEARD A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE IN THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER & EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER SAYS THEY KNOW BRAKES ARE FAILING IN THE 2010-2013 FORD EDGES, THERE IS NO RECALL, ONLY A CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM THAT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN. THIS PROGRAM NUMBER IS 13N02 AND EXTENDS THE COVERAGE OUT TO 150K MILES ON SELECTED VEHICLE'S. I CONTACTED FORD @ 1-866-436-7332 TO EXPRESS MY PROBLEM & CONCERN. I SPOKE TO 4 DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVES THAT ALL RECITED THE SAME SCRIPT. THE SCRIPT BASICALLY SAID SORRY YOUR CAR IS EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM AND TO HAVE A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP FIX IT AT MY COST. APPARENTLY SOMEONE DECIDED THAT THE EXPENSE OF THE ESTIMATED NUMBER OF PEOPLE THEY PUT AT RISK OF DEATH OR INJURY IS STILL LESS THAN WHAT IT WOULD COST THEM TO FIX THEIR FAULTY BRAKES. HERE IS THE KICKER, I BOUGHT THIS CAR CERTIFIED PRE OWNED IN EARLY 2016. HOW WAS FORD OF PORT RICHEY, ABLE TO CERTIFY THIS CAR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ALREADY FAILING!!!!! THEY SOLD ME A DEATH TRAP! I HAVE DECIDED TO HAVE A LOCAL AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SHOP FIX MY VEHICLE RATHER THAN LINE THE POCKETS OF FORD THAT SEEMED OK WITH PLACING MY FAMILY & OTHERS AT RISK WHILE BEING AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTALLED FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTERS.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH DOES NOT LOCK DUE TO A MALFUNCTION IN THE LATCH MODULE. THIS OCCURS WHILE IN MOTION WITH THE 'DRIVERS DOOR AJAR" WARNING COMING UP ON THE DASH.
DRIVER DOOR NOT LOCKING, DOOR MUST BE OPENED AND RE CLOSED SEVERAL TIMES. IF NOT ENGAGED, INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON DRAINING BATTERY AND CAR REMAINS UNSECURED AND PRONE TO THEFT. ALSO SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING THE UNLOCKED INDICATOR LIGHTS UP AND SOUNDS AND NOT SURE IF DOOR HAS TRULY UNLATCHED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
INCIDENT WAS IN LOCAL STREET WHEN MY WIFE WAS REVERSING THE CAR FROM THE DRIVEWAY THEN STARING SUDDENLY LOCKED AND CAR GOT SHUT OFF. AS CAR WAS MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH BABY SO FEW PEOPLE CAME TO HELP AND PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE TRIED TO START AGAIN AND CAR GOT STARTED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER SHOP AGAIN AND AGAIN THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE. FORD GAVE US CAR BACK AND MAKE SURE THAT THIS CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING COME ON WITH DOOR CLOSED. OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR ALLEVIATES THE PROBLEM AT TIMES.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. LIGHT WILL COME ON WHEN DRIVING, DOME LIGHTS COME ON AND DURING NIGHT DRIVING THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND BLINDING. THIS WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY, NOT TO MENTION THE OUTRAGEOUS COST TO GET THIS "FIXED" AT A FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CARD USED FROM A FORD DEALER ONE YEAR AGO.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR SWITCH DOES NOT WORK. THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT, BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE WARNING SIGNAL KEEPS GOING OFF. HAVE HAD THIS WORKED ON, BUT THE FIX DOES'T LAST. TERRIBLE DESIGN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!
DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. QUOTED $400 TO FIX FROM FORD DEALER
I HAVE HAD A RE-OCCURRING DOOR AJAR ISSUE WITH MY FORD EDGE EVER SINCE I PURCHASED IT. OVER TIME, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF EVEN AS ALL THE DOOR ARE CLOSED. HAVE HAD THE ISSUE LOOKES AT BY FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY CHARGE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT TO REPAIR IT. WITHIN THE PAST WEEK, THE DOOR AJAR ISSUE IS NOW CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON. I DID NOT USE MY CAR OVER THE WEEKEND, AND NOTICED 3 DAYS LATER THAT MY INTERIOR LIGHTS HAD BEEN ON FOR A WHILE. THE LIGHTS WERE EXTREMELY HOT, THAT ONE OF THEM WAS SMOKING. THE LIGHTS NOW WILL NOT TURN OFF BECAUSE OF HE DOOR AJAR ISSUE. WHEN I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR OVER AND OVER AGAIN, THE DOOR AJAR ISSUE GOES AWAY AND THEN THE LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE ONE OF THE LIGHTS SMOKING. IN ADDITION, TOUCHING THE LIGHTS AFTER BEING ON FOR DAYS, COULD HAVE CAUSE BURNS ON THE SKIN.
I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF A LARGE INTERSECTION WHEN I LOST ACCELERATION AND I HAD EXTREMELY LIMITED POWER ABOUT 2 TO 3 MILES PER HOUR. I COULD JUST BARELY "SLOWLY LIMP" OFF TO A SAFE PLACE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC AND MOST LIKELY WILL BE THE ETB ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. FORD SAID MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT LISTED ON THEIR RECALL LIST OR THEIR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" YET THEY FIXED 1.6 MILLION OTHER CARS WITH THIS SAME VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT. FORD EDGE 2013. I AM VERY FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE ANYMORE AS IT IS NOT SAFE AND CAN BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITHOUT ANY WARNING!! ONLY 37,000 MILES. I CALLED AND MADE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO FORD. ALSO THE ETB IS ON A LONG BACK ORDER WHICH MAKES SENSE BUT YET NO COMPLETE RECALL FROM FORD?? THIS IS INDEED A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT FOR THE CONSUMERS AND THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY!
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON SAYING DOOR IS OPEN AND NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SHUT THE DOOR IT STILL STAYS ON. BECAUSE OF THIS INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN IN DRIVE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU TURN ON THE VEHICLE EVEN IF YOU DID NOT OPEN THAT DOOR. IT STARTED WITH THIS JUST HAPPENING ONCE A WEEK AND NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I START MY CAR. IT IS JUST ON THE PASSENGER DOOR.
THIS IS MY SECOND TIME REPORTING NON-WORKING DOOR LOCK SYSTEMS. HAS BEEN REPAIRED BUT CONTINUES TO NOT WORK. WHAT CAN BE DONE
WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AFTER DRIVING IT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE CAR IS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE IS IN FACT IN PARK AND WILL NOT MOVE, BUT THE PARK INDICATOR LIGHT WILL NOT LIGHT UP AND THE CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL 20 SECONDS TO SEVERAL MINUTES WHEN IT FINALLY FIGURES OUT THAT IT IS IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE CONTACT CLOSED THE VEHICLE'S DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, THE INDICATOR DIMMED. THE FAILURES RECURRED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND DRAINED THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
I HAD TO REPLACE DRIVER DOOR LATCH DUE TO ISSUES WITH DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING CONSTANTLY COMING ON WHEN DOOR WAS CLOSED WHILE PARKED OR MOVING ALSO CREATING PROBLEMS WITH DOME LIGHT, DOOR LOCKS AND ENTRY PAD. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMED TO BE PRETTY COMMON AMONG OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS WHICH CONFIRMED MY DECISION TO REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 28,000 MILES.
THE LATCH CAUSED A PROBLEM SO THE VEHICLE KEPT GIVING ME A "DOOR AJAR" WARNING. SINCE IT THOUGHT THE DOOR WAS AJAR, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF, EVENTUALLY CAUSING A DEAD BATTERY. THIS WAS A PROBLEM DRIVING AT NIGHT SINCE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ON CONTINUALLY CAUSING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. IT ALSO WAS A PROBLEM FOR ME, AS A WOMAN I DIDN'T FEEL I COULD USE MY CAR FOR ACTIVITIES, ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENING, IF I HAD TO WORRY ABOUT COMING OUT TO A VEHICLE WITH A DEAD BATTERY AND NO HELP AVAILABLE. I HAD THIS REPAIR THROUGH MY LOCAL SHOP, SO I COULD TRUST USING MY CAR. THE COST OF THE REPAIRS WAS $392 WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON MOST OF THE FORD MODELS FOR THIS YEAR, BUT NOT THE EDGE. SAME PROBLEM...WHY AREN'T WE GETTING THE REPAIRS NEEDED AT NOT COST.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND ALARM STAYS ON FOR DRIVER'S DOOR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS AND WHEN STATIONARY.
THE WIPERS RANDOMLYTURN ON WHEN SWITCH IS IN OFF POSITION
CONTROL PANEL STATES DOORS AJAR AND LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF OR DOORS WON'T LOCK. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES DANGEROUS CONDITIONS AT NIGHT WHEN TRYING TO BACK OUT OR WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS WILL ALSO COME BACK ON WHEN STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT AND WON'T GO BACK OFF UNTIL A CERTAIN RATE OF SPEED HAS BEEN MET DUE TO THE SYSTEM THINKING THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT'S NOT. DOORS WILL ALSO NOT LOCK WHEN CAR IS OFF AND DOME LIGHT STAYS ON DRAINING BATTERY TILL THE BATTERY IS DEAD SITTING IN PARKED POSITION. IT IS ALSO CLIMATE SENSITIVE AND IS WORSE ON COLD OR HUMID DAYS. BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE DRIVERS PASSENGER DOOR IS AFFECTED AND CREATES EXTREMELY DANGERS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AND CONTINUES TO GET WORSE.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS CONTINUALLY ON AND REQUIRES STOPPING PUTTING IN PARK AND OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND IS BEING ADDRESSED FOR OTHER FORD MODELS BUT NO THE EDGE PLEASE CONSIDER INCLUDING IT IN THE CURRENT RECALL 16S30. THIS OCCURS WHILE BOTH STATIONARY AND MOVING.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE
RECEIVED A DOOR AJAR MESSAGE FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AND INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD STAY ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR WAS CLOSED. DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD HEAR A CONSTANT DINGING SOUND AND WOULD RECEIVE A MESSAGE ON CONSOLE SAYING SHIFT TO PARK. THE DOOR LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED ON 3/13/17 AND COST $590. THE MILEAGE ON THIS VEHICLE IS 42,716 WHEN THE LATCH FAILED AND WAS REPAIRED.
A FEW THOUSAND MILES AGO I REPLACED THE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVERS DOOR DUE TO FAILURE, AND NOW THE LEFT REAR SENSOR HAS FAILED. THIS RESULTS IN CABIN LIGHTING SUDDENLY COMING ON, REFUSING TO GO OFF, AND LEAVING MY VEHICLE ILLUMINATED WHEN PARKED. WHEN FIRST OCCURRED, I PULLED OVER ON A BUSY HIGHWAY TO ASSURE MY DAUGHTER (IN THE REAR SEAT) WAS SAFE AND THE DOOR WOULDN'T FLY OPEN. RECOGNIZING IT NOW AS A SENSOR, AND THE SECOND ON THIS VEHICLE, I'M SHOCKED TO SEE THAT FORD STILL THINKS THIS IS OK AND SHOULD NOT BE ADDRESSED.
DOOR AJAR LATCH/SENSOR CONTINUES TO STICK WHICH KEEPS THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON AND KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND PARK LIGHTS ON AFTER TURNING OFF CAR, CLOSING DOOR, AND LOCKING CAR. INTERIOR LIGHTS AND PARK LIGHTS ARE HARD TO NOTICE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS AND THIS RESULTS IN DRAINING BATTERY WHICH LEAVES THE OWNER STRANDED. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY!
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD,AND WON'T SHUT THE DOME LIGHTS OFF AFTER SHUTING OFF VEHICLE AND EXITING AND SHUTING DOOR.ITS HAPPENED MANY TIMES MOVING AND STATIONARY.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE WAS RECENTLY SERVICED TO CORRECT A PROBLEM WHICH WAS THE CAR ALARM COMING ON AND RANDOM TIMES AND AN INTERIOR LIGHT COMING ON TO SAY DRIVER DOOR AJAR. THIS DOOR AJAR LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING OFF AND ON FOR OVER A YEAR, I JUST LIVED WITH IT. WOULD SLAM THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING TO SEE IF IT WOULD GO OFF. ANNOYING. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ROSEBURG OR DID MY SERVICE WORK AS THEY DO SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THEM. LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH A FAILED DRIVER DOOR LATCH IS SOMETHING MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. I FEEL THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND I DON'T FEEL THAT US VEHICLE OWNERS SHOULD BE THE ONES FOOTING THE BILL TO GET A NEW LATCH INSTALLED TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM!! I PAID $555 TO GET THIS PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AND A NEW LATCH INSTALLED. THE PART ITSELF WAS $214.70 AND THE REST WAS FOR LABOR AND THE DIAGNOSIS. SEEMS VERY, VERY HIGH PRICE TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT FORD SHOULD BE PAYING FOR.
DOOR AJAR SIGNAL ALARM FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR SOUNDS WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. SHIFT INTO PARK AND CLOSE DOOR MESSAGE SHOWS ON SCREEN. TAKES THREE OR MORE TIMES CLOSING THE DOOR BEFORE SIGNAL WILL GO OFF. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK UNTIL THAT SIGNAL GOES OFF. OPTION TO PRESS OK IS GIVEN BUT THAT DOES NOT SOLVE THE SAFETY ISSUE. WARNING CONTINUES AT SPEED RATE OF 60 MPH OR MORE. INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF IF DOOR AJAR SIGNAL IS STILL SHOWING ON COMPUTER SCREEN WHICH CAUSES DRAIN OF BATTERY POWER. 24,557 MILES ON 2013 EDGE. SAFETY RECALL NEEDED!!!!!!!
DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR COMES ON INSPITE OF BANGING DOOR LOCKED AND DOES NOT GO AWAY AFTER SEVERAL TIME CLOSING HARD. CHECKED DOOR IS LOCKED AND LIGHT IS FALSE. SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. SOMETIME THIS COME ON WHEN VEHICLE IN MOTION ON THE STREET. THIS WAS REPAIRED BY FORD DEALER IN TURNERSVILLE NJ 1.5 YEARS BACK WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN WARRANTY.
DOOR AJAR CONTINUES TO STAY ON DESPITE DOORS BEING CLOSED. UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS (ALL DOORS) WHILE DRIVING. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT. UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS WITH KEYPAD. UNABLE TO TELL IF DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED OR NOT WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE CHIME SOUNDED. THE "ENGINE ON, DOOR OPEN, PARK CAR" MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT THE CHIME CONTINUED AND THE MESSAGE REMAINED. THE CONTACT HAD TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO STOP THE WARNING INDICATOR AND THE CHIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CAPELL FORD WOODSIDE NEW YORK DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
2013 FORD EDGE HAS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM WHERE DOOR SENSORS ON 2 OF 4 DOORS INDICATE THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR, WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON (AND STAY ON) WHEN STARTING THE CAR OR WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, WHICH IS DANGEROUS, PARTICULARLY AS IT INTERFERES WITH NIGHT VISION. THE DOORS WON'T LOCK DUE TO THIS WARNING MESSAGE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS AFFECTED BY THIS SENSOR PROBLEM, WHICH ALSO CAUSES A BELL WARNING THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR, AND REPEATED DASH WARNINGS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. REPEATEDLY SLAMMING THE DOOR CLOSED TEMPORARILY HELPS, SOMETIMES. THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR WAS FIXED (BUT NOT REPLACED) WHILE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM RETURNED WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE SECOND TIME, I HAD THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR CLEANED (THE DEALER WANTED ALMOST $400 FOR THIS, BUT REDUCED IT TO $260 AFTER MY COMPLAINT, VS $500 TO REPLACE EACH SENSOR) WHICH WAS HELPFUL FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS, KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE DEFECTIVE DOOR SENSORS THAT IS HIGHLY DISTRACTING FOR DRIVERS, WHICH INTERFERES WITH NIGHT VISION, AND THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE CAR DOORS WHILE DRIVING. THE FORD DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT REPAIR IT FOR FREE (NO RECALL ISSUED). THESE DOOR SENSOR ERRORS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE CURRENTLY (80,500 MILES), WHEREAS IT WAS A FREQUENT YET INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FROM ABOUT 30,000 TO 60,000 MILES. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHEN STARTING THE CAR, AS THEY SHOULD, THEN THE WARNING MESSAGES COME ON ON THE DASH, AND BOTH THE LIGHTS AND THE WARNINGS STAY ON WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. SOMETIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND WARNINGS WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS, FOR NO APPARENT REASON; WHEN THIS HAPPENS AT NIGHT, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART AND PROTECT DRIVERS.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. CAUSED DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON AND HAS DRAINED THE BATTERY. ONLY SOLUTION IS TO SLAM THE DOOR.
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH SEEMS TO BE FAILING. MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ONE WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I'M NOT SURE IF IT ACTUALLY IS OR NOT. IT HAS YET TO OPEN ON ITS ON, BUT UPON SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS COULD HAPPEN. WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SAYS ITS AJAR THE DOORS WON'T LOCK. I'VE HAD TO OPEN AND CLOSE MY DOOR A DOZEN TIMES JUST TO GET THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. I'VE ALSO HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE OF GETTING IN THE CAR AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON. THEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, START MY WAY DOWN THE ROAD ONLY FOR THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT THOUGH, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON IMMEDIATELY. AGAIN, I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S SENSOR, OR IF THE DOOR LATCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. I'M NOT SURE IF THE DOOR IS EVEN LATCHED WHEN I'M DRIVING. I'VE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COSTLY ISSUE TO REPAIR. FORD SEEMS TO HAVE DONE A RECALL ON CERTAIN MAKES EXCEPT THE EDGE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WARNING EVEN WHEN DOOR IS LATCHED AND CLOSED PROPERLY. HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT TO DEALER FOR A "FIX" APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO, AND NOW IT STARTED AGAIN. DOOR OPEN SENSOR STAYS ON, DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WHEN DOORS CLOSED. SHIFT TO PARK COMES ON. MAKES THIS VERY DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF A REAL OCCURRENCE OF THE DOOR NOT BEING CLOSED PROPERLY. TAKES SEVERAL SLAMS OF THE DOOR TO SOMETIMES FIX IT. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION. HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND NOT OR SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. FORD NEEDS TO MAKE A RECALL ON THIS AS MANY OTHERS ARE AFFECTED.
THE DRIVERS SIDE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IN THIS CONDITION THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AND THE WARNING CONTINUES TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHICH IS A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. THE WARNING LIGHT AND ANNUNCIATOR COME IN WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND WILL GO QUIET WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION ONLY AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING THE WARNING BY DEPRESSING OK ON THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. THE ALARM COMES IN AGAIN WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE DRIVER SIDE WAS AJAR. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO SECURE THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND PREVENT THE DOME LIGHTS FROM ILLUMINATING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
DRIVER SIDE, REAR PASSENGER "DOOR AJAR" IS CONSTANTLY LIT ON THE DASHBOARD. DESPITE REPEATED VERIFICATION THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE WARNING MESSAGE REMAINS. THIS MEANS THE DOORS WON'T LOCK, THE CABIN LIGHTS DON'T TURN OFF AND THE AUDIBLE ALARM RINGS. THERE HAS BEEN NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT AT THIS TIME. DOOR APPEARS TO BE LATCHED, BUT WARNING INDICATOR STAYS ON. REMAINS WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD EXHIBITED FRACTURES AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AREA, WHICH CAUSED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG TO BE EXPOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. A LOCAL UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

TSB 150013 DONE BY DEALER 7/23/2015 @ 31,833 MILES. THIS TSB IS TO CLEAN THE SWITCH CONTACTS BUT DO NOT REPLACE SWITCH. . CURRENT MILEAGE 3/7/2017 53,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CONTACTED FORD DEALER, I MUST PAY FOR REPAIR. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE @ 888-270-1055 3/7/2017 WAS TOLD NO HELP FROM FORD. WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. COST OF REPAIR $150.00 PARTS $!87.00 LABOR PLUS 6% SALES TAX.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON WHILE STATIONARY. IT WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY. SUMMIT FORD HAS QUOTED $600 TO FIX.
THE FRONT, DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DYSFUNCTIONAL. THE SENSOR DOES NOT CORRECTLY READ WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN AND CLOSED. IT WILL NOT READ WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, SO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. PLUS, THE DOOR AGAR SWITCH DINGS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT DRIVING DURING THE NIGHTTIME WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF BECAUSE OF THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL SENSOR. PLUS, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE THE SENSOR READS INCORRECTLY. I RECENTLY ATTEMPTED TO LOCK MY DOORS BECAUSE I WAS AT A STOP-LIGHT IN A ROUGH PARTY OF TOWN, BUT THEY WOULD NOT LOCK BECAUSE THE SENSOR READS MY DRIVER'S DOOR AS "OPEN." I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE IN MY CAR WITHIN A MONTH. 1ST ONE, I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY IN SPEED OF AROUND 60 MILE/HOURS DUE TO TRAFFIC, ALL OFF SUDDEN A MESSAGE POOPED UP ON MY SCREEN TO PARK THE CAR. AS I WAS DRIVING INNER LANE SO COULD NOT PARK ON SHOULDER SIDE BUT PARKED INNER SIDE WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. CAR LOST POWER AND DID NOT START BUT HEATER WAS ON WITH HIGH HEAT AND FAN. ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF COULD NOT SWITCH ON EMERGENCY LIGHTS. I TOWED MY CAR TO LOCAL SHOP IN THAT TOWN TO FIND THE ISSUE BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY COULD MANAGE TO SHUT OFF THE HEATER AND NEXT DAY IT WORKED BUT THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE TO FORD DEALER SHOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER SHOP IN MY TOWN BUT THEY ALSO DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE AND ASSURE THAT ISSUE WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND SAFE TO DRIVE. WHICH WAS STRANGE TO ME THAT WITHOUT KNOWING THE ACTUAL REASON HOW THEY CAN BE SO SURE THAT THIS CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE AGAIN. 2ND INCIDENT WAS IN LOCAL STREET WHEN MY WIFE WAS REVERSING THE CAR FROM THE DRIVEWAY THEN STARING SUDDENLY LOCKED AND CAR GOT SHUT OFF. AS CAR WAS MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH BABY SO FEW PEOPLE CAME TO HELP AND PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE TRIED TO START AGAIN AND CAR GOT STARTED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER SHOP AGAIN AND AGAIN THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE. FORD GAVE US CAR BACK AND MAKE SURE THAT THIS CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR OF MY '13 FORD EDGE LIMITED INDICATING THAT IT IS AJAR (WARNING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON) WHEN IT IS NOT. IN ORDER FOR IT TO QUIT, I HAVE TO EITHER VERY FIRMLY CLOSE THE DOOR (SLAM IT) OR OPEN AND CLOSE IT A FEW TIMES UNTIL IT SENSES THAT IT IS IN FACT FULLY CLOSED. IT IS ALSO DRAINING MY BATTERY BECAUSE WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW OCCASIONS THAT I HAD TO JUMP START MY CAR. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND IN MOTION.

DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, DOME LIGHT COMES ON AND WARNING SOUNDS ARE CONSTANT WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED OR SLOW POSITION.
A LIGHT INDICATING 'DOOR AJAR' RANDOMLY APPEARS EVEN THOUGH DOOR SEEMS TO BE CLOSED. THERE IS NO SOLUTION EXCEPT TO REPEATED SLAM DOOR SHUT MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL LIGHT DISAPPEAR. FORD REFUSES TO COVER THIS PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY.
THE "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR" SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND PREVENTING LOCKING OF THE DOOR.. DOORS CAN NOT BE LOCKED FROM DRIVER SIDE WITH "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT ON, COMPROMISING SAFETY AND SECURITY.
