VEHICLE IMPROPERLY SIGNALS DRIVER'S REAR DOOR AJAR. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH A SENSOR IN THE DOOR LATCH.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR ALARM AND WARNING LIGHT OCCURS WHEN THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN YOU HIT THE SWITCH TO LOCK THE DOORS THEY LOCK AND THEN IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH MAKES DRIVING AT NIGHT UNSAFE. THIS OCCURS AFTER STARTING THE CAR IN PARK AND CONTINUES WHILE DRIVING.
BOTH FRONT LEFT AND REAR LEFT DOOR SENSORS SHOW THAT THE DOORS ARE OPEN ALTHOUGH ITS FULLY CLOSED. THEREFORE THE CABIN LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED. MY 2.5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OPENED THE DOOR WHILE I WAS DRIVING ALTHOUGH THE DOORS WERE SUPPOSED TO LOCKED. *TR
FUEL LEVEL DROPS DRAMATICALLY, THE FUEL INDICATOR WILL DROP UP TO 20 MILES PER EVERY MILE OF ACTUAL MILEAGE. GAS SEEMS TO BE LEAKING AND ODOMETERS WILL SKIP NUMBERS.
MY TRUCK DISPLAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN IN PARK AND THE INDICATOR IS NOT ILLUMINATED WHETHER THE ENGINE IS OFF OR ON. I HAD TO REPLACE A BATTERY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS OFF THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON DRAWING POWER BECAUSE IT'S NOT SENSING THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY KNOWN AND FORD HAS A TSB FOR THE SHIFTER BUT NO RECALL. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD AGAIN.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND UNSURE IF DOOR IS SHUT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON. INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON AN INCLINE, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LEFT THE VEHICLE IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND TEMPORARILY EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. BALISE FORD OF CAPE COD (90 HIGH SCHOOL ROAD EXT, HYANNIS, MA 02601, (508) 815-4007) REPLACED THE IGNITION IN DECEMBER OF 2016, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR AND THE 'PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK' WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND CAUSED THE DOORS TO NOT BE ABLE TO LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
SOUNDS LIKE THE AXEL IS FALLING COMPLETELY OFF COMPLETELY DISENGAGING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. AFTER CONSULTING WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED IT APPEARS THE AXEL IS COMING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO SOME VALVE. DEALERSHIP STATED IT IS NOT COVERED ON THE SAME RECALLS AS THE OTHER 2013S THOUGH IT APPEARS IT IS THE SAME ISSUE.
AT APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES, MY 2013 FORD EDGE'S BRAKES FAILED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE BEHIND A SEMI TRUCK WHEN THEY HIT THE BRAKES. BRAKES WERE LOCKED, HARD TO PRESS AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE FOLLOWING LANE AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I DECELERATED AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS BRAKES BECAME RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I NEEDED TO MAKE IT HOME, DROVE TRYING TO GO AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE AND STAYING AWAY FROM OTHER CARS, HOWEVER BRAKES WORKED WITHOUT ISSUES. APPROACHING HOME THERE WAS A STOP SIGN AND AGAIN I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. THIS TIME A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE FILLED THE CABIN. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER SAYS THEY KNOW BRAKES ARE FAILING IN THEIR F150'S AND FORD EDGES, THERE IS NO RECALL, AND THEY MADE ME PAY A DEDUCTIBLE TO FIX THE CAR THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY. APPARENTLY SOMEONE DECIDED THAT THE EXPENSE OF THE ESTIMATED NUMBER OF PEOPLE THEY PUT AT RISK OF DEATH OR INJURY IS STILL LESS THAN WHAT IT WOULD COST THEM TO FIX THEIR FAULTY BRAKES. HERE IS THE KICKER, I BOUGHT THIS CAR CERTIFIED PRE OWNED IN JULY 2016. I GOT MY CAR BACK TODAY, THEY FIXED THE FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTERS AND THE CABIN IS UNCHARACTERISTICALLY QUIET. SINCE I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR THERE WAS A QUIET HISS WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE SALES PERSON TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL FOR THE CAR, I NEVER HAD A FORD BEFORE AND THE BRAKES DID WORK ORIGINALLY SO I DIDN'T GIVE IT ANOTHER THOUGHT. BUT NOW THAT ITS QUIET I KNOW THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAILING AT THAT POINT. HOW WAS BILL CURRIE FORD IN TAMPA, ABLE TO CERTIFY THIS CAR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ALREADY FAILING!!!!! THEY SOLD ME A DEATH TRAP!
REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMING ON WHEN DOOR CLOSED COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING ALARM AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON. STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED. DEALER SAYS DOOR LATCH MUST BE REPLACED, EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS PROPERLY LATCHING. *TR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED AND LOCKED. DOME AND EXTERIOR SIDE MIRROR LIGHTS STAY LITE DUE TO THIS. CAR IS IN PARK AND IF YOU SHIFT INTO DRIVE WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON THEN THE CAR TELLS YOU TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAY ON. THIS STARTED THE WEEK ON DEC 19, 2016 AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING CONTINUOUSLY THROUGH OUT THE WEEK AND WEEKEND. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO FORD TODAY 12/28/2016 AND OF COURSE THEY'RE ARGUING ITS NOT A SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH MEANS I WILL PROBABLY END UP PAYING THE DEDUCTIBLE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO GET IT FIXED WHEN THIS IS CLEARLY A FORD ISSUE.
DRIVER'S SIDE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT ALONG WITH ASSOCIATED ALARMS ("SHIFT INTO PARK") GOES OFF WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR. THIS WARNING ALSO KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON, THUS POTENTIALLY DRAINING THE BATTERY. BACKING UP IN THE DARK IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE SO BRIGHT, NOTHING CAN BE SEEN OUTSIDE. MY TEMPORARY SOLUTION HAS BEEN TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHEN I'M PARKED FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME. MY CONCERNS ARE; WILL THIS BE HAPPENING TO ALL 6 DOOR SENSORS, HOW LONG WILL THESE FAULTY SENSORS LAST, WILL THEY FIND A REDESIGN FOR THIS SENSOR THAT LASTS LONGER THAN 34K MILES AND WHAT IF THE DOOR REALLY ISN'T CLOSED? FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS ALREADY RECALLED THIS SENSOR/MODULE ON OTHER MODELS (FOCUS, ETC) OF THIS YEAR. BECAUSE THERE AREN'T AS MANY EDGES ON THE ROAD ISN'T A GOOD REASON TO NOT WANT TO MAKE THE CORRECTION FOR ALL MODELS INVOLVED.
EVEN THOUGH I GET IN MY CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS COMING ON (DRIVER DOOR). THIS CAUSES THE LIGHT TO STAY ON AND I AM NOT ABLE TO LOCK MY CAR DOORS. I FIND THIS TO BE A LARGE SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS STARTING TO DO THIS MORE AND MORE. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO OPEN MY DOOR AND SLAM IT SHUT ONCE OR MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO SHUT OFF.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING APPEARS EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. RESULTING IN MULTIPLE ERRORS WITHIN THE SYNC SYSTEM AND THE INABILITY TO TURN OFF THE CABIN LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM CAN OCCUR WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
DOOR SENSOR REFLECTS DOOR OPEN 3RD OR 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR MECHANISM IS FAULTY AND WILL NOT READ MY DOOR AS CLOSED RESULTING IN BEING STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY. AFTER BEING FIXED IT CONTINUES TO REAPPEAR.
FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR. THE FRONT DOOR MECHANISM WILL NOT LOCK. THERE IS A CONSTANT WARNING CHIME AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. THE WARNING IS " DRIVER DOOR AJAR".
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE "DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHILE THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RESULTS. THE DEALER OFFERED A TEMPORARY REPAIR, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO RETURN TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
THIS ISSUE STARTED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. I WOULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY MAINTENANCE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, MY CAR WOULD BEGIN TO SHAKE/RATTLE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. IF I COULD, I WOULD PULL OVER, SOMETIMES I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION ON AN INCLINE AND COMPLETELY SHUT MY CAR OFF. I WOULD WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND IT WOULD START BACK UP AND RUN NO PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO 1 FORD AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO A 2ND FORD EARLIER THIS YEAR IN MARCH AND THEY CLAIMED THEY FOUND THE ISSUE. I SPENT OVER $1,000 REPLACING THROTTLE BODY AND FUEL FILLER NECK, WHICH THEY CLAIMED HAD A LEAK IN IT AND WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES, UNTIL YESTERDAY. AGAIN, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME HOME, CAR STARTED SHAKING AND COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I'M AFRAID EVERY TIME I MAKE A TURN IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO LOSE POWER AND I'M GOING TO GET T-BONED. I'VE READ ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE FORD HAS A BIG LAWSUIT ON HAND. THEY BETTER FIX THIS! *TR
I HAVE A DOOR AJAR ISSUE WITH MY 2013 FORD EDGE. THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF WITHOUT SLAMMING MY DOOR.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT IS ON THE DRIVER DOOR AND NO OTHERS. 2013 FORD EDGE FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE. LEAVING THE RESIDENCE. ONCE PASSED THE CONTROL OF THE SECURITY AGENT OF THE RESIDENCE. I ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AND THEN HEAR A RATHER DEAFENING NOISE. I STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND PROCESS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY AS I FEEL THE BODY WARM. ONCE I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND RUN TO A SAFE PLACE ABOUT 40 FEET AWAY, I THROW MYSELF ON THE GROUND AND LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND SEE THAT THE VEHICLE IS BURNING. I CAN SEE THAT THE FIRE IS CONSUMING THE VEHICLE AND CAN OBSERVE FIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF THE WINDOWS AND FIRE THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE THAT GOES FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE DOWN THE SIDE. AND THE FIRE RUNS TO THE GAS TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 9 MPH, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AFTER FOUR ATTEMPTS, THE DOOR WAS SECURELY CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILED AGAIN. WAS REPLACED UNDER FORD ORIGINAL WARRANTY WITH CAMELBACK FORD BUT HAS FAILED FOUR MONTHS LATER AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER CAMELBACK FORD HAS NO INTEREST AND REPAIRING WITHOUT PAYING $642.00 TO REPAIR. I GUESS NO WARRANTY ON THEIR WORK.
MY INTERIOR LIGHTING STAYS ON WHEN I AM IN REVERSE BECAUSE THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR IS ALWAYS ON, I ALMOST HIT MY NEIGHBOR AND CLIPED HIS DOG BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW WHEN BACKING WHILE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE FILED ON THIS BEFORE BUT NOW IT HAS BECOME A REAL PROBLEM. WHAT IF I HAD HIT MY NEIGHBOR? SAFETY ISSUE.
MY DRIVER DOOR SENSOR CONSTANTLY TELLS ME THAT MY DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT, CAUSING THE DOORS NOT TO LOCK, INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON, A CONSISTENT BEEPING NOISE ALERTING ME, AND DRAINING MY BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS UNSAFE.

DOOR OPEN SENSOR REMAINS ACTIVE EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE AUTO-LOCKING DOES NOT FUNCTION, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN LIT AND INDICATOR LIGHTS/ALARMS DO NOT SHUT OFF. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND CAN ONLY BE SOLVED BY REPEATEDLY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR UNTIL THE SENSOR ACTIVATES, WHICH DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 30 DAYS AGO.
FAULTY ELECTRONIC SENSOR CAUSED DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO COME ON WHICH CAUSED SHIFT TO PARK LIGHT TO COME ON AND CAUSED INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS TO COME ON AND NOT DIM WHILE IN GEAR. PREVENTED WINDOWS FROM BEING RAISED OR LOWERED DURING ALLOTTED TIME ONCE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. VEHICLE WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN DRIVERS DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. THIS CAUSES DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON UNTIL CAR IS MOVING CAUSING A VISIBILITY PROBLEM. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EVEN WHEN LOCKED MANUALLY DOORS WILL UNLOCK BY ITSELF WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION CAUSING A CHILD IN BACK SEAT TO OPEN A DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING AND POSSIBLY FALLING FROM CAR.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND HAVE TO SLAM DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO FINALLY GO OUT. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYS ON UNTIL DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS CLEARED AND OF COURSE DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING IS DISPLAYED ON THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT PANEL, ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND THE DOME LIGHTS BEING TURNED ON. OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR WILL MAKE THE WARNING GO AWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES, BUT IT INVARIABLY RETURNS BEFORE MUCH TIME PASSES. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AS WELL. *TR
DRIVER DOOR LATCH; DOOR WON'T LOCK OR STAY LOCKED INTERMITTENTLY; DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM OCCURS, THE DOORS UNLOCK, THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR EARLY MORNING. THE BATTERY IS DRAINING-THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. IT WILL NOT LOCK FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY. THIS STARTED EARLIER THIS MONTH AN IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW! FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS IS A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH FORD PRODUCTS. *TR

DRIVER DOOR AJAR - COMES ON CONSTANTLY. RECENTLY HAD TO GET A NEW BATTERY BECAUSE THE INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON. I PUT CAR IN PARK AS INSTRUCTED AND SLAM THE DOOR. IT DOESN'T WORK VERY OFTEN. 90% OF THE TIME IT DOESN'T WORK. ALSO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK. IF THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, THEY CAN OPEN THE DOOR AND FALL OUT OF THE CAR. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WITH DOOR CLOSED. WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK IT SOMETIMES. KEEPS INTERIOR LIGHT ON WEARING OUT THE BATTERY. PROBLEM IS PERSISTENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE ALL OF THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR KEEPS ALARMING THAT IT IS NOT CLOSED EVEN IF DOOR IS CLOSED. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT WON'T LOCK THE VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS THE ALARM WHICH DISTRACTS THE DRIVER.

SHIFT TO PARK NOTICE COMES ON. DRIVER DOOR AJAR NOTICE COMES ON. I ARRIVE AT DESTINATION. PUT CAR IN PARK. ENGINE IS ON (OVERHEAD LIGHT IS ON). TAKE KEY OUT OF IGNITION (OVERHEAD LIGHT IS ON). OPEN DRIVER DOOR. NOTE: IF I USE THE FOB, OVERHEAD LIGHTS WONT GOT OUT. IF I MANUALLY PUSH DOOR LOCK BUTTON, THE INSIDE OVERHEAD LIGHTS WILL ONLY GO OUT 3 OF 10 TRIES. I HAVE TO UNBOLT THE BATTERY TO MAKE THEM GO OUT. HAVE ALREADY HAD TO BUY ONE BATTERY. I CANT LOCK DOORS AT A STOP SIGN WHICH IS UNSAFE. THIS IS A DAILY CONSTANT OCCURRENCE. OTHERS ARE EXPRESSING SAME ISSUES. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THE DOOR AJAR FIRST HAPPENED 10/9/14 AT 32,156 MILES. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP. IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2016 AND HAS MORE ISSUES AND NOW IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE A 2013 FORD EDGE SPORT EDITION THAT HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE DOOR SENSORS SHOWING THAT THE DOOR IS A-JAR. THIS STARTED TO OCCUR SHORTLY AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE TO WHERE THE DASH PANEL CONTINUOUSLY SHOWS THAT ONE OF THE DOORS IS A-JAR, EVEN WHEN OPEN AND CLOSING THE DOOR CONTINUOUSLY SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY TO CLEAR THE WARNING MESSAGE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WE CANNOT BE CERTAIN THAT THE DOORS ARE SECURED PROPERLY AND SAFELY DURING TRAVEL. ALSO, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING, OR WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK WHILE IDLING. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOORS COULD BE OPENED WHILE DRIVING, AND THE CAR CANNOT BE SECURED WHILE IN PARK AND IDLING. IF A STRANGER ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE CAR WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, OR WHILE DRIVING VERY SLOWLY, YOU CANNOT PREVENT THE INDIVIDUAL FROM ENTERING THE CAR BECAUSE THE DOOR LOCKS IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK DUE TO SENSING THAT THE DOOR IS A-JAR. THE PICTURE I UPLOADED OF THE WARNING MESSAGE CLEARLY SHOWS THE DRIVING SPEED WHILE THE DOOR A-JAR IS ILLUMINATED. I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THE 2013 FORD EDGE, I WOULD HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT SOONER. I HOPE THAT FORD WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT AND FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. OTHER THAN THIS DEFECT I LOVE MY 2013 FORD EDGE SPORT.
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS AN SUDDEN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER ON THE EDGE OF THE ROAD CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE THROTTLE. AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE THEN RESTARTED, IT WAS ACTING NORMAL AND WAS ABLE TO MERGE BACK INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC ALSO IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
2013 FORD EDGE RECENTLY STARTING SHOWING "DOOR AJAR" INDICATORS ON MY MESSAGE CENTER. ADDITIONALLY, THIS MESSAGE CAUSES A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE ON THE MESSAGE CENTER AS WELL. WHAT STARTED OUT AS A RANDOM MESSAGE IS NOW A DAILY MESSAGE AND I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE DOORS REPEATEDLY IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET RID OF THE MESSAGE. NIGHT DRIVING IS NO LONGER AN OPTION AS I AM BLINDED BY INTERIOR LIGHTS WHEN I CAN'T GET THE SENSOR TO ENGAGE AND RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. DURING THE DAY I RUN THE RISK OF HAVING A DRAINED BATTERY IF I CAN'T SEE WHETHER OR NOT THE LIGHT HAS GONE OUT WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE SENSOR DOESN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY MY KEYLESS ENTRY IS USELESS AS WELL. I FEEL THIS IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE, FORD EVEN LISTS THE DOOR AJAR WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND LOCK LEVER ASSEMBLY UNDER "SAFETY" IN MY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED COVERAGE GUIDE. I AM PAYING THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE THE SWITCH RESET AS THE DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO REPLACE SOMETHING THE DOESN'T HAVE TO. FORD SHOULD JUST BITE THE BULLET AND ISSUE THE RECALL FOR THIS, THEY LISTED IT UNDER THE SAFETY CATEGORY TO STAY IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE IS WRONG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED THIS TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,948.
AFTER 30,000 MILES WE TOOK OUR 2013 FORD EDGE FOR SERVICE AND FOR $800 THEY CHANGED OIL, ROTATED TIRES, ETC. THEY ALSO NOTICED THAT OUR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WEAR AND RUST. THIS COST AN ADDITIONAL $700. WE HAVE DRIVEN NUMEROUS VEHICLES AND KEPT THEM TO 100,000 MILES AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS CONCERN.
