BRAKE BOOSTER ON FORD EDGE FAILED SUDDENLY AT 60-70K MILES. NOTICED IT SUDDENLY WHEN DRIVING THE CAR ONE AFTERNOON. AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT, HAD TO STOMP ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR TO A STOP, BECAUSE NORMAL BRAKE PRESSURE HAD HARDLY ANY EFFECT. KNEW SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG, BECAUSE BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS WERE RECENTLY REPLACED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE COVERED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE 5/3/10-3/28/13 MANUFACTURING WINDOW COVERED BY THE PROGRAM. THEREFORE FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX MY ISSUE. THIS IS INSANE SINCE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AND WITH THE SAME PARTS AS THE OTHER VEHICLES COVERED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE BRAKES ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE FULLY. THE PROGRAM ALSO STATES THAT "THE FUNDAMENTAL BREAKING SYSTEM REMAINS FUNCTIONAL" AND "THE EFFORT REQUIRED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WILL INCREASE GRADUALLY" IN REALITY YOU HAVE TO STOMP THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITH HARD PRESSURE TO SLOW THE CAR EVEN A LITTLE BIT. I WOULD NOT CALL THAT "FUNCTIONAL". PEOPLE WILL PROBABLY DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. AND IT'S RECKLESS FOR FORD TO HAVE PICKED SOME ARBITRARY MANUFACTURING DATES TO BE COVERED. POSSIBLY THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS YET FROM THE ONES PRODUCED JUST AFTER THIS BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL A LITTLE NEWER? THIS IS *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED RESULTING IN INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ADDITIONALLY, AS THE DOOR IS NOT BEING SENSED AS BEING CLOSED, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON ALONG WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT. THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY. THE INABILITY OF THE DOORS TO NOT STAY LOCKED AS A RESULT OF THIS LATCH FAILURE IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
RECALL #13N02 DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER COMPLETELY FAILED; HAD TO PRACTICALLY STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. FOUND THIS RECALL, AND IT APPEARED TO COVER MY YEAR, BUT WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. SPENT ABOUT 400.00 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE.
ON 9/6/16 I HAD TO HAVE THE LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH REPLACED BECAUSE IT CAUSED A 'DOOR AJAR' LIGHT TO COME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DOORS WON'T LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF AT THE PROPER TIME. NOW TWO MONTHS LATER THE LEFT FRONT DOOR LATCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE DOOR SWITCH TO LOCK DOORS DOES NOT ENGAGE LIGHTS STAY ON DOORS DO NOT LOCK IT DRAINS BATTERY
DOOR AJAR SWITCH ON DRIVERS DOOR MALFUNCTION. INDICATES DOOR AJAR AT ALL TIMES, THUS DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON, DASH TELL-TAIL LIGHT AND WARNING SIGNAL. UNSAFE CONDITION EXIST BECAUSE OF FAILURE OF LOCKS FOR CHILD SAFETY, DURING VEHICLE MOVEMENT. ALSO UNABLE TO ENGAGE VEHICLE LOCKS AND ALARM SYSTEM DUE TO FAULTY SWITCH, AS VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. *TR
HAD THE USED EDGE ALMOST ONE YEAR NOW AND THIS IS THE 3RD THIRD TIME TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME BLINKING PROBLEM. IT IS A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 40K MILES. FIRST TIME WAS ANNOYING BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS PROFESSIONAL AND FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND TIME I WAS PISSED BECAUSE I HAD GOTTEN ONLINE AND DID RESEARCH ABOUT THIS APPARENTLY VERY OBVIOUS AND COMMON ISSUE !!!!FORD!!!! AND TO TOP IT OFF THE WARRANTY HAD JUST RAN OUT SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY A 100 DEDUCTIBLE. I WAS REALLY STEAMED BY THIS POINT. AND GUESS WHAT NOW...THIRD TIME ... THE TECH SAID WELL MAYBE IT JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE PART? SO I ASKED ARE THE PARTS NOT COVERED HE SAID JUST FOR 30 DAYS !? SERIOUSLY? I TOLD THEM THEY ARE EATING THE COST ON THIS NOT ME. THE DEALER WILL BE PAYING FOR THE CRAPPY PART THAT DOESNT LAST NOT ME. I IMAGINE I WILL BE TALKING TO THE AUTONATION OWNER AT SOME POINT... THIS IS SO STUPID. MY WIFE WAS IN DOWNTOWN LA IN A PARKING GARAGE AND IN TRAFFIC AT NIGHT WITH UNLOCKED DOORS AND HER INTERIOR LIGHT ON BECAUSE FORD IS SO ATE UP WITH PROFIT THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THIS. ALL THE DEALERSHIPS SHOULD EAT THE COST EVERY SINGLE TIME... MAYBE ONCE THEY DO IT SOMETHING WILL BE DONE.,SHE IS NOT DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL I GET SOMETHING DONE. POS. UNBELIEVABLE THAT IT TAKES THIS MANY REPAIRS AND COMPLAINTS AND NOTHING BEING DONE. I NEED TO FIND OUT ALL THE REPAIRS ON THIS CAR BEFORE I GOT IT.. BET I SEE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE PRIOR OWNER. THE INTERIOR LITE STAYS ON AS WELL AND THE CHIME STAYS ON. ONCE PARKED AND ENGINE OFF, WE ALL EXIT CAR AND CLOSE DOORS AND THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON... WONDERFUL HAVING YOUR CAR PARKED ON THE ROAD AT NITE LIKE THAT HERE IN LA.
LEAVING STORE PARKING LOT, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AS I LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATOR. I COULD STEP ON GAS BUT NOTHING HAPPENED, ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS STILL WORKED. I QUICKLY THREW THE CAR IN REVERSE AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID ROLLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING A LOT! I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND MY FAMILY AND I TOOK A TAXI HOME, LEAVING OUR 6 DAY OLD CAR IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR TURNED ON AND I DROVE IT TO A SAFER PARKING LOT WITH NO PROBLEMS?
DRIVERS DOOR STATES DOOR AJAR WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THE LOCKS WILL NOT WORK ON ANY OF THE DOORS WHEN THIS OCCURS. ANY ONE CAN JUMP IN THE CAR WHEN STOPPED. IF KIDS ARE IN THE BACK SEAT, THEY ARE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. WHEN LEAVING THE CAR WE CANNOT LOCK THE VEHICLE, BELONGINGS AND PETS CAN BE STOLEN. ALMOST $500 TO FIX THIS COMMON SAFTEY ISSUE.
MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT STARTED COMING LAST WEEK AND WON'T GO OFF. I AN POSITIVE THE ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. IT IS VERY DISRUPTIVE WHILE DRIVING, WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWS AT SIGNAL LIGHTS, IN INTERSECTIONS OR IN TRAFFIC THE ALARM COMES ON. ALSO, I WAS IN A COMPLETELY DARK PARKING LOT WITH PEOPLE AND CARS MOVING AROUND AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULDN'T GO OFF. I COULD NOT SEE OUTSIDE BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT FUNCTION IN THIS STATE EITHER. SOMEONE COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO THE VEHICLE WITH ME. HELP!
I FIRST NOTICED A HISSING SOUND WHEN I WOULD PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT THEN BECAME SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THEN ALSO LIKE IT DID NOT WORK AND WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AT TIMES, WHEN I HAVE THE CAR STOPPED USING THE BRAKES IT FEELS AS THOUGH THEY ARE SLIPPING AND THE CAR WILL LUNGE. I SAW THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED BY FORD TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS ISSUE BUT WHEN I REACHED OUT THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED TWO MONTHS AFTER THE CUTOFF. WHEN I ASKED WHAT WAS CHANGED TO EXCLUDE MY CAR THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER.
DOOR AGAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DOORS IS LOCKED.
"TAKATA RECALL" - DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DASH. FRONT AND REAR DRIVERS SIDE
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM WENT OFF LAST WEEK WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WILL NOT STOP. THIS IS CAUSING ME TO GET A CONSTANT WARNING WHILE I'M DRIVING THAT MY DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR AND TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK. IT ALSO MAKES MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN MY CAR IS TURNED OFF (WHICH IS KILLING MY NEW BATTERY) AND MY DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. NO AMOUNT OF SLAMMING THE DOOR SHUT OR CLEANING OF THE DOOR LATCH CORRECTS THE PROBLEM. I AM HAVING TO DISCONNECT MY BATTERY IN ORDER TO NOT DRAIN MY NEW BATTERY DOWN FROM THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON.
DOOR LATCH ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR BROKE
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON CONSTANTLY WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED. THE INSIDE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF CAUSING A DRAIN IN THE BATTERY. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY ONCE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. PLEASE FIX IT NOW FORD, WE WILL PROBABLY NOT BUY A FORD AGAIN IF THIS IS THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER CARE THAT WE ARE EXPECTING TO RECEIVE.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING , AND THE LIGHTS STAY ON 10 MINS AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF . *TR
DRIVER DOOR ALWAYS READS AJAR. SOME LIGHTS CONSTANT, DRAINS BATTERY . CONSTANT ALARMS, CANNOT LOCK DOORS.
DOOR LATCH SENSER IS MALFUNCTIONING. WITH IT DOING THIS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE OPERATING THE CAR. LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN NOT IN USE. AND ALARM WILL GO OFF WHEN EVER IT DECIDES TO WHILE NOT IN USE. DUE TO CAR SENSING THE DOOR IS AJAR. THIS MAKES THE CAR AVAILABLE TO BE PLUNDERED BY BURGLARY. WHILE IT DRAINS THE BATTERY. THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF EVENTUALLY. BUT DRIVER DOOR ( THE ONE CAUSING ISSUES) WILL NOT RESPOND KEYFOB. WHEN I USE SET OF KEYS NUMBER 2 ( MY SET) IT WON'T RESPOND TO THEM TILL I LOCK CAR AND REMOTE START SITTING INSIDE THE AUTOMOBILE. EVERY TIME YOU STOP THE CAR WILL SOUND AN ALARM AND TELL YOU TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND CLOSE DOOR, EVERYTIME!! EVEN WHEN YOU PHYSICALLY LOCK DOORS THE CAR WILL UNLOCK THEM. (POSABLY SO WE CAN GET CAR JACKED) IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. REPLACING THE MECHANISM ISN'T THE WHOLE ANSWER. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO HAVE DONE THAT ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE POP UP IN SEVERAL MONTHS. THEN THEY ARE OUT ABOUT $600. PLEASE DEAL WITH THIS IT IS ON SEVERAL MAK S AND MODELS OF FORD. I LIKE THE COMPANY, BUT AM GETTING TIRED OF THE RUN AROUND. IT STARTED IN 11/01/16 TO CURRENT. DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND NONE OF THE VEHICLE LOCKS WILL LATCH BECAUSE VEHICLE BELIEVES A DOOR IS AJAR, WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. THE ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO (OCTOBER 10, 2016). I WAS ABLE TO OPEN AND SHUT DOOR TO TURN THE SENOR OFF THE FIRST FEW TIMES THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM...TEMPORARILY. AT THIS POINT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, BATTERY IS DRAINED DUE TO LIGHTS STAYING ON UNLESS I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND DOORS NEVER LOCK - NOT WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, NOT WHEN IT IS PARKED.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS LOSES ALL ENGINE POWER. THE RPM'S DROP TO ABOUT 600 AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR HAS NO EFFECT ON THE RPM'S. THE 5 TIMES IT HAPPENED DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2016 I WAS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 40 TO 50 MPH. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COAST TO THE NEAREST SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE POTENTIAL FOR A CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT IS OBVIOUS.
ENGINE BECAME TOTALLY DISABLED AT 50 MPH ON A RURAL COUNTY HIGHWAY.STRUGGLED TO STEER VEHICLE TO SHOULDER OF ROAD BECAUSE OF LOST POWER.FORTUNATELY WE WERE ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD.I CAN ONLY THINK THAT IN SO MANY OTHER DRIVING SITUATIONS THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE PUT US IN A LIFE THREATENING POSITION.FORD REALLY NEEDS TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT! *TR
FORD EDGE 2013 PROBLEM WITH SENSOR OR OTHER CAUSING DRIVER DOOR ALARM TO ACTIVATE AFTER DOOR IS SHUT. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON; DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT BUT MESSAGE STATES THAT "DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR". MESSAGE AND ALARM SOMETIMES COMES ON WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL TRIES REPEATEDLY SHUTTING DOOR TO GET ALARM AND LIGHTS TO TURN OFF. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS CLOSED SECURELY THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING SOUND ACTIVATE ALMOST DAILY, MORE OFTEN ON COOLER MORMINGS. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE DOOR SECURELY THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS AND AT ALL SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING OR AS A RESULT OF UNUSUAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, ALL OF THE DOORS UNLOCK WHEN THE DOOR AJAR WARNING ACTIVATES AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT IS ENABLED MAKING THE VEHICLE, IN MY OPION, UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND OCCUPY. THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAD I KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED ANY VEHICLE MADE BY FORD.I AM NOW AWARE THE PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND WIDELY KNOWN ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND THROUGH COMMENTS I HAVE READ ON VARIOUS CONSUMER WEBSITES. I DO NOT RECALL THE FIRST TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURED, BUT THE LAST TIME WAS TODAY WHILE TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS HAD BRAKE ISSUES SINCE JANUARY 15, 2016. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE STATIONARY, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE ALL OF THE DOORS WERE SHUT. IN ADDITION, THE DOME LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR ALARM ACTIVATES WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT OPEN. THIS CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHT TO REMAIN ON FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE SHUTOFF. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, THEN COMES TO A STOP SAY, AT AN INTERSECTION, AN ALARM SOUNDS AGAIN AND REQUESTS THAT YOU SHIFT TO PARK. I HIT THE OK BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL, BUT THE PROCESS REPEATS. I HAVE SOMETIMES BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE ALARMS BY WIGGLING THE WIRING HARNESS AT THE DOOR HINGE, BUT THIS MAY BE COINCIDENTAL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING, AND WHEN STILL. THE AUTO LOCK WILL ALSO NOT ENGAGE DURING THE ALARM, AND EVEN WHEN MANUALLY ACTIVATING IT WON'T ENGAGE. I NEVER KNOW IF THIS IS A TRUE ALARM OR NOT. I ASSUME ALWAYS IT IS FALSE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ASSUMPTION. REPEATED DOOR SLAMMING OR NORMAL CLOSING DOES NOT STOP THE ALARM. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND HAS BEEN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I SEE THE ISSUE ON CAR COMPLAINT SITES, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE FALLS FROM A MOVING VEHICLE THINKING THE ALARM WAS FALSE WHEN IT WAS NOT. *TR
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. ALSO THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK/STAY LOCKED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN INITIALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM TO BE EITHER IN THE SENSOR OR THE DOOR LATCH ITSELF. AT FIRST IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM, BUT NOW SEEMS TO BE OCCURRING MORE OFTEN. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR A FEW WEEKS. WILL BE TAKING IT TO BE REPAIRED IN A FEW DAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING, THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT FUEL LEAKED FROM A FUEL LINE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS TURNING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AS MENTIONED IN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS, I TOO HAVE THE ISSUE OF THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT DISPLAYING "AJAR". BECAUSE OF THIS ALMOST ACCIDENT, I NOW OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES TO MAKE SURE THE LATCH IS CLOSE AND THE LIGHT IS OFF. MY LIFE MATTERS.

I WAS LUCKY TO GET ACROSS TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE I LOST ALL MOMENTUM. NO RESPONSE WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR, ENGINE SHAKES BADLY. HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TRAVEL. ALL RESEARCH POINTS TO FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. FORD SERVICE CENTER ADVISERS AGREE BUT REFUSE TO PERFORM REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AS THERE ARE NO CODES. THE CODES GET WIPED AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE.

THIS HAPPENS ABOUT TWO TIMES A WEEK AND SOMETIMES TIMES YOU HAVE TO CLOSE THE DOOR ABOUT FIVE TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN AND I HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE TO RECLOSE THE DOOR.
2013 FORD EDGE, THE BRAKES ARE DIFFICULT TO APPLY AND MAKE A HISSING NOISE. WITHOUT WARNING THE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS, AND ALWAYS WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO STOP. AT TIMES YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO USE BOTH FEET TO FULLY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE STARTED AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENT. I WILL NO LONGER BRING THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED ON THIS, OR ARE WE WAITING FOR PEOPLE TO DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED?
SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE NO LONGER REGISTERED ONE OF THE DOORS AS BEING CLOSED. IT ALWAYS HAD THE DOOR AJAR WARNING ON THE SCREEN AND THE DOME LIGHTS STAYED ON AND DOORS WOULDN'T LOCK WHILE DRIVING AS IF A DOOR WAS OPEN. THIS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE ALL THE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON IN THE CAR. ALSO, MY 4 YEAR OLD WAS ABLE TO REACH AND OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION SO I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ONE OF MY CHILDREN WAS HURT. THE CAR ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL CARED FOR BUT OUT OF WARRANTY SO THE REPAIR COST US 474$ AND I WAS OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR TWO DAYS. *TR
CAR DOOR SENSOR GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT STOP IN TILL I REPEATEDLY SHUT THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE ALARM GOES OFF AND PUTS THE DRIVER IN SUDDEN ALARMING MODE AND IN NEED OF PULLING OVER QUICKLY AND AT TIMES NOT ABLE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK IN SEPT 2016 AND IT STARTED 1 WEEK AFTER DRIVING THE CAR AND CONTINUES. *TR
MY DRIVER DOOR NO LONGER REGISTERS AS 'CLOSED' WHEN IT IS IN FACT CLOSED. THIS PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THE PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR NOT REGISTERING AS LATCHED AND CLOSED MEANS THAT YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. EVERY TIME YOU ATTEMPT TO LOCK IT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS IT. AT THIS POINT I HAVE REMOVED ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS (THAT STAY ON) SO I CAN OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY AT NIGHT UNTIL I HAVE TIME TO GET THIS FIXED. I'M JUST SIX MONTHS PAST THE NORMAL 3YR/36K MILES WARRANTY PERIOD AND FORD DEALERSHIP IS QUOTING A REPAIR CHARGE OF NEARLY $500 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAS BEEN PART OF A LARGE RECALL FOR OTHER FORD VEHICLES, BUT NOT AT THIS TIME FOR THE EDGE. IT'S A REAL NUISANCE. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE.

EXTERIOR LIGHTS AND INSIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL STAYS LIT UP AFTER CAR TURNED OFF, HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 1.5 YEARS.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR DRIVERS DOOR WILL INTERMITTENTLY STAY ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. AS A RESULT THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS GO ON OBSTRUCTING DRIVERS VISION AT NIGHT. ADDITIONALLY IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THIS CONDITION EXISTS. WHEN DRIVING AN IRRITATING MESSAGE COMES ON SAYING TO SHIFT TO PARK AND CLOSE DOOR WHICH ARE ALREADY CLOSED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A BAD DESIGN FLAW WHICH CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIPS CHARGE SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $450.00 TO REPLACE ASSEMBLY WHICH IN SOME CASES STILL DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS IN A RECALL.
