I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS DOOR LATCH SENSOR ISSUE FOR THE DURATION OF MY OWNERSHIP ON MY FORD EDGE. I DON'T SEE HOW IT IS POSSIBLE THAT OUR VEHICLES MEET NHTSA STANDARD FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 206, DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS. THE TESTING FOR THAT STANDARD WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN A LABORATORY, AND IT IS APPARENT THAT CONTAMINANTS OUT IN THE FIELD ARE MAKING THEIR WAY INTO THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY AND COMPROMISING THE SENSOR - IT IS NOT A STRETCH TO CONSIDER THE LATCH ITSELF MAY BE DETERIORATING AS WELL. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE DOOR IS FULLY SHUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHTTIME FROM THE UNPREDICTABLE SENSOR. I JUST REPLACED A BATTERY 10/3/16, FAILED FROM THE SENSOR DRAINING IT REPEATEDLY, BOUGHT THE LARGEST CAPACITY OEM REPLACEMENT I COULD GET FOR IT FROM FROM THE DEALER. WHILE PARKED, EVEN FOR HOURS AND DAYS ON END UNTOUCHED, THE CAR WILL PERIODICALLY SENSE THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED (THOUGH IT HASN'T BEEN), AND THE PARKING/CONVENIENCE LIGHTING WILL COME ON AND GO BACK OFF AGAIN.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND THE "DOOR AJAR' WARNING LIGHT AND ALARM WILL SOUND CONTINUALLY. THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN, BUT ONLY IN AN UNLOCKED CONDITION WHILE LISTENING TO THE WARNING CHIMES AND FLASHING DASH LIGHTS. THE CONDITION OFTEN LASTS A WEEK OR SO, GOES AWAY FOR SOME TIME AND THEN RETURNS.
WHEN YOU ARE STOPPED AND 'SHIFT TO PARK' AND PUSH THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, IT DINGS KEEPS TELLING ME TO 'SHIFT TO PARK'. YOU NEED TO CONTINUE TURNING OFF AND ON AND MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER BETWEEN PARK AND DRIVE TO FINALLY GET IT TO TURN OFF. I SEE ONLINE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH SOME AWD VEHICLE FROM FORD. *TR
THE DASH SAYS THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED. I HAVE SEEN WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SENSOR OR LATCH GOING BAD. I AM HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
DOOR AJAR SENSOR - LEADING YOU TO BELIEVE THE DOOR IS AJAR. THE DOOR IS CLOSED BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AS THOUGH THE DOOR IS AJAR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS MAY OR MAY NOT TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING THIS IS DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. DOOR LOCK BUTTON WON'T ACTIVATE DOOR LOCKS SENSING A DOOR IS AJAR AGAIN VERY DANGEROUS.THIS SENSOR COMES ON AT WILL DRIVING NOT DRIVING NO RHYME OR REASON. PROLONGED LIGHTING MAY SHORTEN THE LIFE OF MY BATTERY OR LEAVE US STRANDED. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DESIGN PROBLEM AND THE BURDEN OF REPAIR ON THEIR CUSTOMERS A RECALL IS IN ORDER. *TR
DOOR AJAR LATCH NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. DOOR IS CLOSED BUT LIGHT STILL ON.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS OBVIOUSLY CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL CAR ACCELERATES BEYOND 5 MPH (?) AND DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON FOR LENGTH OF TRIP. 'SHIFT TO PARK' YELLOW WARNING APPEARS WHILST DRIVING BUT STOPPED AT A LIGHT. WHEN CLOSING AND LOCKING DOOR AFTER PARKING, CAR HONKS TWICE SIGNIFYING UNLOCKED DOOR. LIGHT STAYS ON, POSSIBLY DRAINING BATTERY.
THIS IS FOR A 2013 FORD EDGE SEL AWD MODEL, RECENTLY THE DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR INDICATOR KEEPS COMING ON , AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WITH IT, SLAMMING THE DOOR A FEW TIMES , SOMETIMES CORRECTS IT. BUT IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING MORE AND MORE FREQUENT, VERY ANNOYING, AND IF IT DOES IT UPON LEAVING THE VEHICLE PARKED , INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND RUN DOWN THE BATTERY. WHILE DRIVING IT SOMETIMES COMES ON, AND UNLOCKS THE DOORS, BECAUSE IT THINKS THIS DOOR IS AJAR, WHEN IN FACT THE DOOR IS CLOSED TIGHT. FORD SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE, APPARENTLY IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT MODELS, AND THEY WANT MORE THAN $400 TO REPAIR THEIR FAULTY SWITCH ISSUE.
LOW OIL ENGINE PRESSURE AT ALL TIMES INDICATED, OLMOST SINCE PURCHASE 2 YAERS AGO.WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A CITY OR HIGHWAY .
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SENSOR WILL COME ON INDICATING THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPEN, WHEN IT IS IN FACT CLOSED TIGHT. IT WILL CAUSE MY LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AWHILE AFTER DRIVING, AND ANYTIME I STOP THEN ACCELERATE, IT WILL DING TO NOTIFY ME THAT THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN. WHICH IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. ALSO, BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON LONGER WHICH HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY, TO THE POINT THAT I'VE HAD TO JUMP START MY CAR. THE SENSOR INDICATED THE DOOR IS OPEN DESPITE BEING STATIONARY OR MOVING. *TR
DOOR AJAR ERROR HAPPENING WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. ERROR CAUSES BEEPING, DOME LIGHTS STAYING ON, AND PREVENTS LOCKS FROM LOCKING, ALL WHILE CAR IS MOVING. THE LIGHTS STAY ON FOR EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME CAUSING ME TO REPLACE THE BATTERY.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR INDICATOR WILL SOMETIMES GIVE FALSE READING THAT DOOR IS AJAR. DOME LIGHT WILL STAY ON AND NOT ABLE TO LOCK DOORS.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING DINGS WHEN THE DOOR IS DEFINITELY SHUT. IF I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES IT WILL SOMETIMES GO OFF. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOOR CANNOT BE LOCKED WHEN THIS HAPPENS, CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. CAUSES BATTERY TO DRAIN BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH LIGHTS ON WHICH MAKES NIGHTTIME DRIVING DANGEROUS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL IT.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE I'M DRIVING CAUSING DANGEROUS CONDITIONS AT NIGHT. CHIMES "DOOR AJAR EVERY TIME I LET OFF THE BRAKES WHICH IS VERY DISTRACTING. DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THE KEYS ARE IN THE IGNITION BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS IS ALL VERY DISTRACTING AND UNSAFE. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS IN AN ACCIDENT OR ROBBED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS. I CANNOT SEE TO BACKUP AT NIGHT WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH A MESSAGE TELLING ME THAT THE DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR. THE MESSAGE TELLS ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE DOOR. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES TO GET THE MESSAGE OFF, SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK BUT MOST OF THE TIME I END UP SHUTTING AND RESHUTTING THE DOOR TO GET THE MESSAGE OFF. AND WHILE THE MESSAGE IS ON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. SOMETIMES I SPEND HOURS TRYING TO GET THE MESSAGE OFF. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A SENSOR. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. A RECALL MUST BE MADE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. ALSO, IN ADDITION TO THE LIGHTS STAYING ON, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. IT IS VERY ANNOYING AND NOT SAFE. ALSO, I AM WORRIED THAT THE BATTERY WILL RUN DOWN. I AM GETTING TO THE POINT THAT I DON'T EVEN WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON LONG AFTER CAR IS PARKED OR DRIVING ALONG WITH INTER LIGHTS STAY ON TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR STAYS LOW PRESSURE RANDOM TIMES COLD OR HOT WEATHER
"REAR LEFT DOOR AJAR". INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A SIGNIFICANTLY VARYING AMOUNT OF TIME WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN IT'S DARK AT NIGHT THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A SIGNIFICANTLY VARYING AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND KEY IS REMOVED. THIS IS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND GOING TO LEAD TO PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. SOMETIMES THE CAR DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES CAR DOORS WON'T LOCK AFTER EXITING CAR IN NON-SECURE AREAS SUCH AS PARKING LOTS, ETC.
THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR CLOSES BUT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON AND IS ANNOYING. MY WIFE TOOK IT IN AND THEY WANTED 500.00 TO FIX IT ON A 3YR. OLD CAR THEY CAN'T MAKE A LATCH TO LAST LONGER THAN 3 YRS.?
IN APRIL 2014 AT 20,000 MILES A SHIFT TO PARK NOTICE WAS BEEPING WHEN ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF AND VEHICLE PUT IN PARK. HAD TO KEEP FOOT ON BREAK AND JIGGLE SHIFTER TO GET SHIFT TO PART NOTICE TO STOP TO ENSURE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND WOULD NOT ROLL AWAY AND TO PREVENT BATTERY FROM DRAINING. WAS REPAIRED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY IN JUNE 2014. IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AT 47,000 MILES THE SHIFT TO PARK NOTICES ARE HAPPENING AGAIN. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WANTS TO CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. OBVIOUSLY THE REPAIR PEFORMED UNDER WARRANTY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS THAT THE SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE COULD RESULT IN CAR ROLLING AWAY AFTER DRIVER BELIEVES THEY HAVE PARKED CAR.

IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AT 47,000 MILES THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WANTS TO CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. OBVIOUSLY THE ORIGINAL REPAIR PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS WHETHER DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED WHILE DRIVING.
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CORRECTLY CLOSED. MY 2013 EDGE HAS LESS THAN 38000 MILES. BUT FORD WILL NOT FIX WITHOUT OWNER PAYING FOR IT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST 2013 EDGE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND FORD SHOULD FIX WITHOUT OWNER'S COST
WHEN I CLOSE MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND START MY 2013 FORD EDGE, IT THINKS MY DOOR IS AJAR. THIS IS A LATCH PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. AS A RESULT, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB. I AM HOPING THAT THE NHTSA WILL FORCE FORD TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE HAS A MECHANICAL/ELECTRIC DOOR JAR SWITCH WHICH FAILS THUS YOU END UP WITH A 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING ON YOUR DASH. THUS YOU CAN'T LOCK YOUR DOORS AND THE LIGHT AND RADIO REMAIN ON AFTER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING INTO THE GARAGE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT SEEMED TO BE LOCKED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ALTHOUGH THE DOOR IS LATCHED PROPERLY. THIS HAPPENED AND WAS "FIXED" WITH A NEW SENSOR 1 YR AGO. NOW IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. WHILE THE LIGHT IS ON THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHILE DRIVING (ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WITH 2 KIDS), THE LIGHTS INSIDE REMAIN ON AFTER THE CAR IS SHUT OFF (ALTHOUGH I CANNOT PROVE IT IS RELATED TO THIS I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE BATTERY ONCE ON THIS CAR), IF THE CAR IS LOCKED WHILE OFF AT TIMES THE SENSOR TRIPS ITSELF AND THEN THE ALARM STARTS GOING OFF ON ITS OWN RANDOMLY, THEREFOR NOW I HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR UNLOCKED SO THAT THE ALARM DOES NOT BOTHER MY NEIGHBORS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS A HISSING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO DECELERATE AND THE ENGINE SHOOK AND NEARLY STALLED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,057.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, FAULTY SENSOR DOES NOT READ WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. LIGHTS STAY ON AND WARNING PROMPT APPEARS ON DASH WHILE DRIVING WITH ALARM. VEHICLE MILEAGE 51,000.
THE DRIVERS DOOR (ADJAR) SIGNAL KEEPS INDICATING THE DOOR IS OPEN EVEN IF THE DOOR IS FIRMLY CLOSED. THIS CAUSE THE CABIN LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND THE ALARM GOING OF EVERY SO MANY SECONDS. IT DISTRACTS ME CONSTANTLY.
THE DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT.

ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS DID NOT LOCK. THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ON 9/19/2016, REPORTED PROBLEM OF UNABLE TO STOP WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. FIRST TIME HAPPENED WHEN EXITING PARKING LOT AND RAN STOP SIGN. SECOND TIME HAPPENED AS APPROACHED STOPLIGHT. LATER ON WIFE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS STOPPING FROM 35MPH AT STOP SIGN AND OTHER STOPLIGHTS. PROBLEM WAS LEAKING BRAKE BOOSTER COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY RECALL #13N02. THIS RECALL WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY NOTED ON FORD.COM, BUT IT SHOWED UP TODAY, 9/20/2016.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE ISSUE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,500.
APPROACHED STOP SIGN, FROM PARKING LOT AT APPROX 8-10 MPH. APPLIED BRAKES, BUT THEY WENT SOFT AND ENTERED TWO LANE HIGHWAY APPROX. 2 FEET. DUMP TRUCK SWERVED TO MISS ME. CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME BUT AT FIRST STOPLIGHT I ENCOUNTERED, SAME THING HAPPENED, NEARLY RUNNING INTO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WIFE LEFT THAT EVENING TO DELIVER MEAL TO MY ELDERLY MOTHER. SHE SAID THAT SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER AT ONE STOP SIGN AND TWO STOPLIGHTS. (CAR WAS IN MOTION DURING ALL INCIDENTS. MINE HAPPENED WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND ENTERING A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. HERS HAPPENED ON TWO LANE ROAD NEAR HOME AND FOUR-LANE INTERSECTION ACROSS TOWN. THIS IS REALLY A SCARY SCENARIO. MADE APPOINTMENT TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER ON MONDAY SEPT. 19. 2016.
THE LEFT DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED SECURELY. THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A LONG TIME. THE WARNING SIGNAL BEEPS EVERY TIME WE STEP ON THE BRAKE AND IS VERY ANNOYING.
MY DRIVER "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF, CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON FOR EXTENDED PERIODS, BEEPING WHEN COMING TO A STOP, INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS INSIDE WHEN DRIVING AND IGNITION DINGING CONSTANTLY WHEN KEYS ARE IN. THIS OCCURS BOTH WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AS WELL AS MOVING AND IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW HARD OR LIGHT THE DOOR IS SHUT. IN LOOKING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE, HOWEVER HAS YET TO BE RECALLED.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AND THE DOOR IS NOT OPEN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF, THEREFORE RUNNING DOWN THE BATTERY. WE JUST HAD TO PUT IN A NEW BATTERY. THE DOORS WON'T AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT THINKS THE REAR DOOR IS OPEN. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SHUT THE DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. VERY FRUSTRATING!! SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM, IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!!
THE DRIVER'S DOOR WARNING DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR WILL NOT GO OFF. EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF, LIGHTS REMAIN ON INSIDE THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING, LIGHT AND WARNING CONTINUALLY STAY ON, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE SENSOR FOR DOOR REMAINS ON. WHEN I COME TO A STOP WHILE CAR IS RUNNING, WARNING TO SHIFT CAR TO PARK WILL COME ON..THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM WITH LITTLE CHILDREN IN CAR.. DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED..
PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYING ON CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 9/8/16 ON A MAIL THOROUGHFARE, I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD BECAUSE A VEHICLE PULLED OUT IT FRONT OF ME. SINCE THAT TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN INCONSISTENT (FIRM/SOFT) AND WHEN IT GOES SOFT IT REQUIRES MORE STOPPING DISTANCE. IN ADDITION WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND PRESSING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE IS A SQUEALING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH/FIREWALL AREA. AFTER TAKING VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE BRAKE BOOSTER/VACUUM PUMP ATTACHED TO THE MASTER CYLINDER THAT HAS FAILED.
THE CAR CANNOT RECOGNIZE WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS CLOSED. THE LIGHT PANEL WILL SHOW DOOR OPEN, A LIGHT WILL COME ON TELLING ME THE DOOR IS OPEN, SHIFT INTO PARK, AND IF I AM DRIVING, SOUNDS WILL CHIME UNTIL I PARK. THE DOOR OCCASIONALLY WILL BE RECOGNIZED AS CLOSED, BUT 80% OF THE TIME, IT WILL NOT. I,WAS TOLD AT THE DEALER THAT THE PROBLEM IS COMMON IN FORDS AND THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE LATCH MECHANISM IN THE DOOR.
THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE IDLES ROUGHLY, AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPS WORKING - THIS IS ALL WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING THE CAR. THERE WERE COMPLAINTS FILED BACK IN 2013 AND A LAWSUIT RELATED TO OTHER FORD VEHICLES REGARDING THIS ISSUE (DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL). THIS MODEL AND YEAR, HOWEVER, IS NOT PART OF THE GROUP FORD AGREED TO FIX AND THERE WAS NEVER A FORMAL RECALL. THIS PUTS DRIVERS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION...LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING.

DOOR AJAR STAYS ON FOR DRIVERS SIDE. MUST SHUT DOOR MANY TIMES BEFORE IT GOES OFF, IF IT GOES OFF AT ALL; LEAVING THE DOORS UNLOCKED AS WELL AS LIGHTS ON IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. VERY UNSAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THOSE CONDITIONS. WAITING FOR DOOR TO OPEN AT ANY TIME.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A LIMP-TYPE MODE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WHICH I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT IS A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM IN FORD VEHICLES AND THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND FORD IS PUTTING ITS CUSTOMERS AT RISK FOR ACCIDENTS.
THE CAR IS AT 50,000 AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SIGNALS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND IT IS NOT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AS THEY SHOULD. ALSO, IT CAUSES THE DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND OTHER SENSORS TO COME ON WHEN THE CAR IS AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. DUE TO THIS BEING AN ISSUE READ ABOUT WIDELY FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS.

WE HAVE HAD IT TO FORD TO FIX DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DASH WITCH WAS SAYING DRIVER DOOR WAS THE PROBLEM AT ABOUT 34000 MILES FORD FIXED IT BY CLEANING THE SENSOR WORKED FOR AWHILE UNDER WARRANTY. ABOUT A MONTH LATER SAME PROBLEM AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY COST ABOUT $380.00 TO FIX HAD TO CHANGE SENSOR NOW AT 42000 MILES DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS BACK ON SAY PASSENGER DOOR. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON WITCH AT NIGHT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NOW THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED HOW DO I KNOW IF DOOR IS NOT GOING TO COME OPEN. I FEEL FORD HAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THERE RESPONSIBILITY AND ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND DON'T FEEL WE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR FORDS PROBLEM THIS CAR IS A 4 DOOR WE'VE ALREADY PAID FOR ONE DOOR AND NOW HAVE TO FIX ANOTHER ONE. WAS DRIVING APPROX. 45 MPH COMING THRU A 5 CORNERS MAJOR INTERSECTION AT PEAK TRAFFIC TIME OF 5:15PM. DRIVING ON STATE FARM TO MARKET ROAD IN TOWN OF 100K RESIDENTS. HAD BEEN DRIVING APPROX. 3 MILES. TEMP IN 80'S, ROADS DRY. COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, NEARLY REAR ENDED. CAR CREPT A LITTLE, MOVED TO MIDDLE TURN LANE, STRONG FORWARD LURCH/JERK, YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT ON. PUT CAR IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF. TRIED TO START, NOTHING. SAT ABOUT A MINUTE, TRIED, STARTED. LIMPED TO PARKING LOT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, SAT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THEN TOOK ROUTE HOME GOING THRU SUBDIVISIONS WHERE STALL WOULD NOT JEAPORDIZE LIFE. COULD NOT DRIVE TO DEALER AS THAT WOULD INVOLVE HIGHWAY, AND RISK OF FATAL ACCIDENT. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TODAY, HAVE NEVER BEEN THAT SCARED DRIVING A VEHICLE IN 40 YRS OF DRIVING.
