THE SENSOR FOR THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR KEEPS POPPING UP. I HAVE TO CLOSE THE DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE IT WILL ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE CAR. IF I DON'T THEN THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN PARKED. IF I AM DRIVING THEN THE DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON UNTIL I CAN GET THE SENSOR TO TURN OFF.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE. THE DRIVERS DOOR CONTINUES TO TELL ME IT IS OPEN EVEN AFTER REPEATEDLY OPENING AND FIRMLY CLOSING THE DOOR. THE INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT, AND THE DOORS WON'T LOCK. I SPOKE TO FORD AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 500 FOR THE PART.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED.
ABOUT A YEAR AGO HAD ISSUE WITH CAR BATTERY AND CAR NOT STARTING. TOLD DEALERSHIP OF ISSUE WITH DOME LIGHT COMING ON AND THE DOOR AJAR ALARM NOISE BUT NOT THE AJAR LIGHT. THEY SAID THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WITH BAD BATTERY. NOW THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON, THE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS, MY DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, AND AN ALARM ON MY DASH TELLS ME TO STOP AND PUT MY CAR INTO PARK. THIS STARTED OVER A YEAR AGO WITH THE BATTERY AND NOW A YEAR LATER WE HAVE HAD CONSTANT ISSUES WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT THAT IS NOW PROGRESSING. LIGHT AND ALARMS OUT OF NOWHERE, DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK, AND THE PROBABILITY OF CAR BATTERIES GOING DEAD BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T STAY OFF IS A HAZARD NOT TO MENTION TRYING TO SEE AT NIGHT WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS UNABLE TO GO OFF. SOMETHING NEEDS DONE. ALL OF THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN IN MOTION OR AT A STAND STILL. IT STARTED OFF BEING JUST WHEN YOU FIRST GOT IN TO START THE CAR, NOW IT CAN BE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING.
DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK, CAN POP OPEN WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH IS FAULTY. CLAIMS THE DOOR IS OPEN, EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT. UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS, AND NOW JUST GOT A DEAD BATTERY BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON.
LEFT DOOR SENSOR/LATCH IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AFTER 65,000 MILES. AFFECTS DOOR LOCKS WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THE DOOR LOCKS GO UP AND DOWN INTERMITTENTLY AND UNEXPECTANTLY. AFFECTS OVERHEAD LIGHTING AND THE REMOTE START. DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE DOORS NOT LOCKED ESPECIALLY IF YOUNG KIDS ARE IN BACK SEAT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 12/01/16*LJ THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE WARNING BUZZER WOULD NOT GO OUT WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE DEALER CLEANED THE DOOR SWITCH . UPDATED 12/15/16.*JB
DRIVER DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY BECAME FAULTY AT 53000 MILES. CAR DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AS DESIGNED WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED 15 TO 20 MPH.. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRIVEN WITH DOORS UNLOCKED AT ALL TIMES. STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION WITH DOORS UNLOCKED CREATED A SAFETY SITUATION. AUDIO ALARMS KEPT GOING OFF AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE AUDIO ALARMS INDICATED THE DRIVER DOOR WAS AJAR WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED FALSE VISUAL ALARMS WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN RESULTING IN DRIVER DISTRACTION. DRIVER WAS INSTRUCTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE AUDIO ALARMS GOING OFF ONCE THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED. AUDIO ALARMS WERE ANNOYING, DISTRACTING AND FRUSTRATING TO DRIVER. VEHICLE LATCH WAS REPLACED BY PRIVATE MECHANIC, COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED FOR A TOTAL COST OF $454 OUT OF OWNER'S POCKET. OWNER WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SO FORD WAS AWARE THE ISSUE WAS COMMON.
THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR. IT WILL REMAIN ON THE ENTIRE TIME THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AND WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE KEYPAD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE THINKS THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN. THE HORN BEEPS TWICE WHEN YOU TRY TO LOCK THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB INDICATING THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN. THE RADIO WILL ALSO REMAIN ON AFTER YOU EXIT THE VEHICLE AND LOCK THE DOORS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DASH CONTINUES TO STAY LIT AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CREATES AN ISSUE AS THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING.
MY VEHICLE BEGUN HAVING PROBLEMS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AT AROUND 40,000 MILES WHENEVER I WOULD OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. IT WOULD FLASH "DOOR AJAR" AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE. ONCE I WOULD SLOW, THE DASH WOULD ALSO HAVE A "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING FLASHING. THE DOORS WOULD NO LONGER LOCK WHEN I WAS DRIVING, AND I WAS UNABLE TO SECURE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS PARKED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON. IT TOOK MY LOCAL FORD DEALER ALMOST 2 WEEKS TO FIT ME INTO THEIR SCHEDULE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, AND IT COST ME OVER $500 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT WAS VERY DISTRACTING AND UNSAFE WHEN YOU CAN NO LONGER SECURE YOUR VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WITH A CHILD.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE DOORS COULD OPEN INDEPENDENTLY AND ALSO THAT THE BATTERY COULD BE DRAINED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES NEEDED TO BE RE-CALIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
2013 FORD EDGE SEL WITH 33000 MILES, DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. IT KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHILE DRIVING, CONTINOUSLY WARNS DRIVER WITH DOOR OPEN MESSAGES ON DASHBOARD EVEN WHEN IT'S DOOR IS CLOSED. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE ALSO DRAINED MY CAR BATTERY SINCE I HAD TO REPLACE IT BACK IN SEPT 2016. FORD PLEASE RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE HOW MANY TIMES YOU SLAM THE DOOR CLOSED. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK IF THE CAR DOES NOT BELIEVE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS, THE DOOR COULD POTENTIALLY OPEN DURING AN ACCIDENT OR I COULD BE CARJACKED OR MY FAMILY COULD BE PULLED OUT OF THE CAR WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT OR INTERSECTION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO NOT BE ABLE TO LOCK YOUR AUTO WHILE TRAVELING. ALSO, SINCE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS UNRELIABLE THE DOOR MAY NOT BE CLOSED AND COULD FLY OPEN WHILE TURNING CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF THE DOOR AJAR OR REVERSE SENSING IS DINGING, WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE BACK UP CAMERA. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I DEPEND A GREAT DEAL ON THE BACK UP CAMERA TO MAKE SURE I DO NOT BACK INTO SOMEONE. AT FIRST THE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON ONLY ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME, BUT NOW THE LIGHT STAYS ON ABOUT 99% IF THE TIME.
VEHICLE HAS WARNING LIGHT FOR DOOR AJAR EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, AND DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF. STOP CAR AND CLOSE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GO OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, DOOR LOCKS OPEN ON THEIR OWN, WARNING LIGHT DINGS, ETC. AND DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS IS S KNOWN HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO REPAIR LATCH BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
WHEN YOU GET IN THE CAR AND START THE ENGINE (WHILE STILL IN PARK) THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. WE MUST OPEN AND RECLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE WARNING LIGHT TO GO AWAY.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAILS TO DETECT THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED. THIS CAUSES THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TO UNLOCK THE DOORS EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD EDGE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE TURBO CHARGER FAILED, AND NO PART IS AVAILABLE FOR 3 MONTHS. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED MANY TIMES PRIOR TO 60,000 MILES BUT NOW SUDDENLY I AM BEING TOLD THE PART JUST FAILED. MY COMPLAINT IS A MAJOR ENGINE PART FAILING AT UNDER 60,000 MILES AND NO PART AVAILABLE FOR 3 MONTHS.
THE REAR DOOR IS CONTINUALLY STATING THAT IT IS AJAR AND ALL DOORS REFUSE TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN PUT IN "DRIVE".
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. ALSO, WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THROTTLE SYSTEM WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
DOOR AJAR WARNING BACK PASSENGER DOOR IS CONSTANTLY ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN AND MAJOR PROBLEM. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALL ISSUE AND FIXED IMMEDIATELY.
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHEN I SHUT IT, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALONG WITH THE DOME LIGHTS. IT ONLY TOOK A FEW TIMES RE SHUTTING THE DOOR TO MAKE THIS GO AWAY. HOWEVER, JUST RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN STAYING ON LONGER AND HARDER TO GET TO GO OFF. IT HAS ALSO BEEN COMING ON WHEN DRIVING AND I HAVE TO PULLOVER TO TRY TO GET THIS TO TURN OFF. I CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THIS HAPPENS CAUSING A VERY UNSAFE TRAVEL ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS STAYING ON. IF I HAD KIDS IN MY VEHICLE I WOULD FEEL THEY COULD OPEN THE DOORS DUE TO THIS FAILURE AND FALL OUT. WHEN DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENS THE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAUSES A GLARE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT! EVEN AFTER FORD DOES THEIR "CLEANING" TO THE DOOR IT STILL HAPPENS AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS. THE DOOR LATCH AND COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY TO HAVE THIS FIXED.
THE DOOR OPEN WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN ITS CLOSED, THIS IS NOT ALLOWING THE DOORS TO CLOSE PROPERLY , THIS ALSO CAUSES THE PANIC ALARM TO GO OFF AND IT KEEPS THE DOME LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING CAUSING GLARE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE BRIGHT DOME LIGHT STAYING ON. THIS ALSO DRAINS THE BATTER DUE TO THE CONSTANT INTIRIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND CLOSED
DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY MAKING IT SEEM THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED MAKING FOR UNSAFE CONDITIONS FOR PASSENGERS. CARJACKING VERY POSSIBLE!
DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON LEAVING DOME LIGHTS ON CAUSING BATTERY TO DIE AND EVERYTIME STOP AT RED LIGHT-CHIMES
FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WARNING LIGHT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING, DOOR NEEDS TO BE SLAMMED SHUT A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR WARNING LIGHTS TO TURN OFF. WARNING LIGHT APPEARS MORE FREQUENTLY AND NOW APPEARING WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON, UNTIL DOOR IS SLAMMED SHUT.
WHEN CLOSING THE DRIVER DOOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WITH THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED AND ALSO A NOISE INDICATOR EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR. ALSO WHEN TRYING TO USE THE KEYPAD TO LOCK THE CAR FROM THE OUTSIDE SOMETIMES IT WON'T LOCK. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS INCONSISTENT, SOMETIMES IT WILL STAY ON, OTHER TIMES IT WILL TURN OFF. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. AFTER A $200 FEE TO JUST LOOK AT THE VEHICLE THEY SAID IT IS THE DOOR LATCH WHICH IS A COMMON DEFECT AND WILL COAST UPWARD OF $500 WITH LABOR AND PARTS TO FIX. AFTER DOING RESEARCH TO TRY AND SEE IF I COULD REPAIR IT MYSELF I FOUND I WAS NOT ALONE IN HAVING THIS ISSUE AND WAS ENCOURAGED TO FILE A COMPLAIN ON THIS SITE.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE KEEPS SAYING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS AJAR, CHIMES KEEP GOING OFF, THE DOME LIGHT KEEPS GOING OFF & ON & I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. AND NOW THEY RECALL 1.5 MILLION VEHICLES BECAUSE THE DOORS CAN FLY OPEN!?!?! WHERE IS THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE???????? ARE YOU ALL WAITING ON FATALITIES?!?!?! COME ON FORD!!

DRIVER DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT LOCK. WARNING LIGHT, DOME LIGHT AND WARNING SINGLE STAYED ON. DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH, HAD TO HAVE LOCK REPLACED BY DEALER.
OPEN DOOR WARNING LIGHTS COME ON EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED, HAPPENED 2 YEARS AGO WITH BACK DRIVERS DOORS AND WAS FIXED, A YEAR LATER THE SAME HAPPENS WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR. THIS IS CONSTANT ONCE YOU TURN ON THE CAR AND CLOSE ALL DOORS, SOMETIME IF DOOR IS CLOSE VERY HARD, LIGHT TURNS OFF. SOMETIMES WORKS, SOMETIMES DON'T. IT DOES NOT IMPEDES THE CAR TO DRIVE CORRECTLY BUT BOTHERS WITH SOUND, LIGHTS AND WARNINGS.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON. THE DOORS WON"T LOCK AND I DON'T KNOW IF THE DOOR IS REALLY CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONERY OR IN MOTION.
"DOOR AJAR" LIGHT AND CHIME HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR.
I SMELL CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE TRUCK. IT SMELLS WHEN CAR IS RUNNING AND I'M COMING TO A STOP OR DRIVING SLOWLY OR PULLING INTO THE GARAGE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYING ON EVEN AFTER DOOR HAS BEEN COMPLETELY SHUT.
THREE OCCURRENCES: DRIVING 30 MPH, ALL FORWARD MOVEMENT STOPPED. ENGINE WRENCH CAME ON, NO POWER, NO RPM, NO RESPONSE. HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC (COASTING) TO PREVENT US BEING T-BONED IN THE INTERSECTION. NEXT : DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. SAME THING HAPPENED, ALL POWER STOPPED, NEARLY RUN OVER BY AN 18 WHEELER. HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THIRD : THE VERY NEXT DAY, SAME THING HAPPENED ON A COUNTRY ROAD. NO TRAFFIC. NO NEAR MISS THIS TIME. HAD IT FIXED AT FORD THE FOLLOWING DAY. COST NEARLY $250. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD HAS REPLACED 1.6 MILLION ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES. THIS NEEDS RECALLED. I'M FIGHTING FORD FOR A REFUND THAT I PAID FOR. I HAD TO HAVE MY FAMILY SAFE. PLEASE HIT FORD HARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I THINK THEY'VE HAD A RECALL ON FUSION / ESCAPE. WHY NOT EDGE. I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY EDGE VEHICLES HAVE HAD ETB REPLACED.
PAST YEAR CAR WARNS TO SHIFT INTO PARK; ALTHOUGH IN PARK. WARNING THAT DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR, WHEN IT IS CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON, CANT LOCK THE DOORS AND CAUSES MY CAR ALARM TO GO OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX. PLEASE RECALL THIS. THERE AND TONS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND ALL OVER THE INTERNET. HOW CAN FORD IGNORE THIS???
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT STARTED THE FIRST TIME, APRIL OF 2015, 42,799 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. APRIL 2016, 54,629 MILES DID SAME THING. RETURNED TO DEALER, SAID IT WAS FIXED. TODAY AT 58,770 MILES IT IS DOING SAME THING AGAIN. VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AGAIN. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD MAKE FORD RECALL THIS PROBLEM AND GET IT FIXED. DO NOT FEEL IT IS SAFE TO BE DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENS, NO LOCKED DOORS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS CAN COME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN HIT THE OK SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO STOP THE WARNING BUZZER FROM CONSTANTLY RINGING TO THE OCCASIONAL REMINDER, BUT THE DOORS STILL DO NOT LOCK. THIS HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER YOU GET IN THE VEHICLE, SHUT THE DOOR AND START THE ENGINE. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING AND IT WILL COME ON.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON CONTINUALLY. IT IS NOT AJAR. AN IRRITATING ALARM IS SOUNDED REPEATEDLY. RE-CLOSING THE DOOR DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE ALARM CONTINUES TO SOUND WHETHER IN MOTION OR STOPPED.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SENSOR STATES THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR. THIS LEAVES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOOR. IT ALSO DEPLETES THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE COMPUTER IS STILL ACTIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED AND ALL FOUR DOORS FAILED TO LOCK APPROPRIATELY WHEN NECESSARY. IN ADDITION, UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CLOSE THE DOORS SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE LIGHT TO DIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
"DOOR AJAR" LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, STARTED EARLY 2015 WHILE IN WARRANTY. IT WAS REPAIRED BUT IS NOW DOING IT AGAIN AS OF AUG., 2016 AND OUT OF WARRANTY. ALSO, DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF SOMETIMES.
FOR ABOUT A MONTH THE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON. NOT ABLE TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING (STREETS OR HIGHWAY) THE SHIFT TO PARK INDICATOR LIGHTS UP, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR COMES ON, INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN ON, ALL THE DOORS UNLOCK AND THE DOOR OPEN CHIMES ARE HEARD. WHEN I INITIALLY CHECKED FOR RECALLS THERE ARE SEVERAL INTERNET STORIES FROM 2014 RELATED TO THIS ISSUE ON THE FORD EDGE. I WAS TOLD ABOUT A RECALL THAT HAD BEEN ISSUED ON FORD VEHICLES SO I TOOK MY EDGE TO SOUTH BAY FORD ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 5, 2016. I WAS TOLD THAT MY EDGE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. ON AUGUST 4, 2016 CNBC REPORTED THE RECALL OF ABOUT 830,000 FORD VEHICLES (HTTP://WWW.CNBC.COM/2016/08/04/FORD-RECALLS-830000-2012-2016-FORD-AND-LINCOLN-VEHICLES-TO-FIX-LATCHES.HTML) . TO MY SURPRISE THE 2013 FORD EDGE IS NOT LISTED.
TWO PROBLEMS:1) DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON - DOOR HAS TO BE SLAMMED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE LIGHT GOES OUT, SOMETIMES LIGHT STAYS ON FOR ENTIRE 15 MILE DRIVE TO WORK. PROBLEM 2) SHIFT TO PARK LIGHT COMES ON- CAR IS IN PARK , MUST JAM SHIFTER FORWARD TO GET LIGHT TO GO OFF. SOMETIME MUST PUT CAR INTO DRIVE, MOVE FORWARD FEW FEET AND BACK TO PARK. BOTH PROBLEMS ARE INTERMITTENT BUT HAPPENS 8 OF 10 TIMES WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSING MECHANISM FAILS CHRONICALLY, RESULTING IN ONGOING ALARMS, WHICH IS DISTRACTING THE DRIVER, AND AN A LEARNED DISREGARD TO THE DOOR POSITION.

THE DOOR ADJAR STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING LEAVING LIGHT DOME ON CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS AT NIGHT. WHEN I GET HOME I ALWAYS HAVE A HARD TIME CLOSING MY DOOR FOR THE LIGHT DOME TO TURN OFF. MY BATTERY ALREADY DIED HAD TO BUY A NEW BATTERY AND THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2013! A BATTERY SHOULD NOT DIE THAT SOON! ALL BECAUSE THIS DOOR ADJAR. PLEASE HAVE THIS RECALLED. ALSO. I HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED FOR A MINUTE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO GET CHECKED AT FORD WHEN IT WAS STILL IN WARRANTY! THEY FIXED IT FOR THE TIME BEING BUT IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN. AND MY WARRANTY IS OVER!
