WHEN TURNING KEY TO START VEHICLE, "DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR LIGHT DISPLAYS. WHILE DRIVING, SAME INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON, ALONG WITH CONSTANT "DOOR AJAR" CHIME. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT DIM EVEN THO LATCH IS SECURE--- AND SECURITY ALARM IS ON. ALL OF STATED COMPLAINTS IMPEDE VISIBILITY, AND CREATE ATTENTION AND SAFETY ISSUES. DEALER RESOLVED SAME ISSUES 16 MONTHS AGO BY REPLACING A 5-YEAR BATTERY WITH A BRAND NEW 5-YEAR BATTERY; NOW YET ANOTHER NEW BATTERY IS BEING RECOMMENDED BY DEALER. HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FORD INTENDED FOR CUSTOMERS TO REPLACE AUTO BATTERY EVERY 1.5 YEARS, ESPECIALLY FOR A 3-YEAR OLD VEHICLE.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT WON'T ALLOW YOU TO LOCK THE DOORS AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL STAY LIT. WHEN DRIVING IT WILL TELL YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK. EVEN WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR AND CLOSE IT NUMEROUS TIMES IT STILL SAYS DOOR AJAR. ALSO, IF YOU HIT A BUMP OR ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOW THIS WILL RANDOMLY HAPPEN AS WELL. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD GARAGE AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE EDGE.

A FAULTY SWITCH IN DRIVER DOOR CAUSING A CONSTANT FAULTY DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM IN CAR...DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AT NIGHT WHILE CAR IS IN REVERSE...DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE SENSOR IS SAYING THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN...AFTER PARKING/SHUTDOWN LIGHTS REMAIN ON ADDITIONAL MINUTES, AGAIN SENSING THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN CAUSING UN-NEEDED BATTERY DRAIN...NO RECALL...$400 REPAIR TO REPLACE A CHEAP FAULTY DOOR SWITCH...MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON INTERNET ABOUT THIS VERY PROBLEM...
DOOR LATCH DOES NOT FULLY SHUT DRIVERS SIDE. LIGHTS AND DOOR AJAR REMAIN ON. EVEN IF OFF DURING DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT MAY COME ON SUDDENLY AFTER TURNING CORNERS. ONLINE COMMENTS SUGGEST LATCH SENSOR ARM CONTINUES TO TOUCH DOOR LATCH WHEN CLOSED OR DOOR LATCH DOES NOT FULLY ENGAGE.
DOOR IS CLOSED AND YET IT SHOWING THAT DOORS ARE OPEN UNABLE TO LOCK CAR ALARM BEEPING ALL TRUE THE DRIVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND ALARM BELLS REMAIN AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT, EVEN AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHICH AFFECTS ABILITY TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE WARNING LIGHTS AND ALARMS ARE DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. THE DOOR STAYS SHUT BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF IT IS SECURE. THE ISSUE EXISTS AFTER ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR IT BY A MECHANIC.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS PROPERLY LATCHED. THE LIGHT WILL GO AWAY AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE LIGHT HAS ALSO COME ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND IT REFUSES TO LOCK AS A RESULT. MALFUNCTION WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY DIDN'T FIX THE CAR. THEY BELIEVED WE'D EITHER NEED A NEW DOOR LATCH OR TO RESTART THE CAR'S ELECTRONIC SYSTEM.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR SENSOR ALWAYS ON INTERIOR LIGHTS DRAINING BATTERY UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS
DRIVER'S DOOR ALERTING AS NOT CLOSED. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, DOOR OPEN ALERT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TO MANUALLY MOVE THE DOOR LATCH TO GET IT TO WORK CORRECTLY. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT LOCK, AND SOMETIMES IT REMAINS LOCKED SO I CAN'T CLOSE MY DOOR. SINCE THIS STARTED, AS I'M DRIVING, THE ALERT COMES ON TO SHIFT MY CAR IN PARK, BECAUSE THE DOOR IS OPEN!! I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR I DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND FREQUENTLY, AND I DON'T KNOW WHETHER IT WILL CLOSE, LOCK OR OPEN!! WHEN I MANUALLY MOVE THE LATCH, THE ALERTS GO OFF COMPLETELY.
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR SENSOR DOOR AJAR. TOOK TO DEALER IN JC, KS $315 PROBLEM "FIXED"APRIL 2016. JULY 27, 2016, I PUT MY MOTHER'S STUFF IN BACKSEAT AND LOCK DOOR. "PING AND A PLINK" AND SOMETHING FALLS TO THE BOTTOM OF DOOR. WHEN I REACH MY DESTINATION, THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. CAR WAS STATIONARY.
IN 2015 WE TOOK OUR EDGE IN TO THE SHOP BECAUSE THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WOULD STILL BE ON WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THIS WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DOORS TO LOCK GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND WOULD HAVE AN ANNOYING MESSAGE TELLING ME TO SHIFT TO PARK AS I CAME UP TO A RED LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD CLEAN IT AND THAT SHOULD FIX IT BUT THAT WOULD ONLY BE TEMPORARY AND THAT THEY WOULD PROBABLY EVENTUALLY REPLACE THE SWITCH. AGAIN THIS MONTH, JULY 2016, IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ALL HAPPENING AGAIN. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, EVEN AFTER THEY REPLACE THE SWITCH, THIS DOESN'T COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WILL START TO OCCUR AGAIN AFTER A FEW MONTHS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THE DEALERS ARE MAKING A FEW 100 BUCKS FROM EVERY PERSON THAT SHOWS UP TO GET IT "REPAIRED". IT IS GOING OFF RIGHT NOW, AS I TYPE THIS, AS MY WIFE IS DRIVING AND I AM AT WORK AND SHE CALLED ME.
DOOR AJAR, LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WITH DOOR CLOSED
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR ALWAYS SAYS MY DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE IT. BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN I CAN'T LOCK THE CAR DOORS THEREFORE I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE. THE SENSOR ALSO MAKES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS GO ON AND THEY DON'T SHUT OFF. IT MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT JUST STARTED HAPPENING AFTER I STARTED MY CAR AND LEFT FOR WORK.
WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, WHICH THEN CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHT IN THE CAR TO STAY ON. I HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES TO TRY AND GET THEY DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO SHUT OFF SO THE DOORS CAN LOCK AND I CAN DRIVE. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT, WHEN ALL DOORS ARE PROPERLY CLOSED THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT APPEARS. WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND SECURED THE SYSTEM STILL SAYS THE DOOR IS AJAR CAUSING THE DOME LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON, THUS DRAINING THE BATTERY. IF DRIVING AT NIGHT THE SYSTEM AGAIN KEEPS THE DOME LIGHT ON WHILE THE VEHICLES MOVING MAKING IT HARD TO SEE OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND WON'T REGISTER WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS SHUT. LIGHTS WILL NOT DIM WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED, LOCKS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY EITHER. BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY SENSOR. FORD WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
THE DOOR AJAR ERROR KEEPS COMING ON AND WON'T GO OFF, WHICH IN TURN KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR - WHILE DRIVING DOOR AJAR INDICATOR COMES ON. IT DRAINS MY BATTERY WHILE PARKED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE ISSUE HAS REPEATED ITSELF ON THE DRIVER DOOR.
DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET. STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN IT WAS GREEN WE GOT UP TO ABOUT 45 MPH, THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WE HAD TO PULL OVER INTO THE TURN LANE. WE COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER. DEALER ADVISED FAULTY THROTTLE BODY WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS A KNOWN ISSUE.
THE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL REMAINS LIT WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, PREVENTING THE ABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE DRIVING, AND CAUSING INTERNAL CAR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON.
FOR WELL OVER A MONTH, THE DRIVER'S DOOR WARNING WILL NOT GO OFF. EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF, LIGHTS REMAIN ON INSIDE THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING, LIGHT AND WARNING CONTINUALLY STAY ON, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE SENSOR FOR DOOR REMAINS ON. WHEN I COME TO A STOP WHILE CAR IS RUNNING, WARNING TO SHIFT CAR TO PARK WILL COME ON.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPENED WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED AS THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING MESSAGE ALSO DISPLAYED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT LOCK DUE TO FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE ALSO RECEIVED THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE AND WARNING BELL THAT WOULD SOUND WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ADDITIONALLY, THE KEYPAD ENTRY WOULD NOT WORK AND THE HANDS FREE ENTRY DID NOT WORK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DOOR LATCH AT A COST OF ABOUT $700.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THE WARNING TELLS YOU TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK EVEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT MAKES A SIGNAL SOUND THAT WILL NOT STOP. THE INSIDE LIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF. WILL IT RUN THE BATTERY DOWN?
DOOR LATCH ON DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT TURN CAR COMPUTER OFF WHEN IT IS OPENED. COMPUTER AND RADIO WILL REMAIN ON UNLESS PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED. CAUSING A DRAIN ON THE BATTERY CAUSING IT TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS NO ALARM WARNING WHEN DRIVERS DOORS IS OPENED. THE SENOR IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROAD THE SENSOR WILL NOT NOTIFY YOU THAT YOUR DRIVERS DOOR IS OPENED OR NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY. THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE ADVISER THAT IT IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BUT I SHOULD WAIT FOR THE RECALL TO GET IT FIXED. THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DOOR LATCH AND SENSORS NOTICED THE ISSUE AND HAD IT IN THE SHOP 7/14/2016 FOR THIS ISSUE AFTER NOTICING THE DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT TO GET ON FREEWAY AND NO ALERTS OR WARNING SIGNS NO LIGHTS NOTHING THIS IS A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE TO MY FAMILY
2013 FORD EDGE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY POINT WHILE DRIVING OR SIMPLY BACKING UP IT WILL STALL AND SHAKE AND PRESSING THE GAS DOES NOTHING. THE CAR BASICALLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING.. THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS COAST AND PRAY THAT YOU MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY SAFELY. THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN FIXED LESS THAN 8 MONTHS AGO AND STILL ISSUE HAS STARTED AGAIN. I'VE SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUNDS PAGES AND PAGES AND PAGES OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS... THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL OF OTHER FORD VEHICLES WITH THAT SAME ISSUE... WHEN I INITIALLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP (JOE MYERS FORD ON NWO FREEWAY) MY SERVICE REP ADVISED THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE EVEN IN THE 2016 MODELS. HE DROVE ONE THE SAME DAY WITH THAT ISSUE.. BUT OF COURSE I PAID $900 TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED.. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
MY FORD EDGE INAPPROPRIATELY LEAVES THE DOME LIGHT ON, WON'T LET THE DOORS LOCK, AND SAYS THERE IS A DOOR AJAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS WHO ARE THE PRIMARY USERS OF THE CAR. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED
DOOR AJAR- FRONT DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH PROPERLY AND THEREFORE DOOR AJAR ALERT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN FIRST DRIVING WHICH CAUSES SAFETY HAZARD AT NIGHT AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING, ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR DISPLAY IS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE DOOR FOR THE DISPLAY LIGHT TO GO AWAY. WHEN LIGHT IS ON, DOORS WON'T LOCK AND DO NOT KNOW IF A REAL DOOR AJAR MESSAGE IS VALID. ALSO, CAR LOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. JUST LOSES POWER AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF YOU CAN'T GET OFF THE ROAD IN TIME BEFORE GETTING HIT. HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT BOTH SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE EDGE, DOOR LOCK SENSOR AND HALFSHAFT RETENTION CIRCLIP COMING LOOSE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINED LIT ON DASHBOARD AS WELL AS INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. HAPPENED SOMETIMES ONCE DOOR WAS SHUT AND VEHICLE STILL IN PARK CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO TRY MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET SENSOR TO REGISTER PROPERLY AND WOULD HAPPEN SOMETIMES SHORTLY AFTER TAKING OFF AND GETTING UP TO SPEED ON CITY STREETS, OR SHORTLY AFTER I WOULD GET UP TO 10 MPH CAUSING THE AUTO LOCK FEATURE TO ACTIVATE AND DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. ALSO WAS ABLE TO GET SENSOR TO REGISTER DOOR WOULD BE SHUT AND I WOULD CLIMB OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND BACK IN LATER, NOT OPENING DRIVER DOOR AFTERWARDS AND WOULD GET DOOR AJAR LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY FAULTY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. DEALER REPLACED CLUSTER AND STILL HAD ISSUE WITH DOOR AJAR REMAINING LIT SHORTLY AFTER GETTING BACK HOME.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON DUE TO A FAULTY SWITCH WITHIN THE DOOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND FORD FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, MY INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER I LOCK THE DOORS, THE DOOR AJAR CHIME RINGS THE WHOLE TIME I'M DRIVING. THIS IMPEDES VISIBILITY, ATTENTION, AND COULD HAVE ADVERSE SAFETY CONSEQUENCES.
DRIVERS DOOR SHOWS AJAR WHEN DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUES AS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. BATTERY WILL DIE BECAUSE THE DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED. THIS IS AN ISSUE AND THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED. JUST PURCHASED CAR.
ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO (AROUND JULY 8, 2016) I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMING ON. IT WOULD SOMETIMES GO OFF ON ITS OWN OR WHEN I OPENED AND CLOSED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR A FEW TIMES. THIS HAS PROGRESSED TO THE POINT TO WHERE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME WHEN THE CAR IS ON. MY DOME LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS AND DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF, OF COURSE CREATING PROBLEMS WITH RUNNING THE BATTERY DOWN. AS I DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR DRIVING IN TOWN, WARNING LIGHTS AND CHIMES CREATE A DRIVING HAZARD WHEN THEY GO OFF. I HAVEN'T HAD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT YET, BUT THE DOME LIGHT COMING ON RANDOMLY WILL DEFINITELY CAUSE A DRIVING HAZARD. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

GEAR SHIFT LEVER SWITCH FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN CAR IS IN PARK BUT WARNINGS SAY IT IS NOT IN PARK.
FUEL ODOR IN CABIN. EVERY TIME I PUT GASOLINE ON IT, WHEN TRYING TO TURN ON, IT FAILS AND I HAVE TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE PARKED IT TURN OFF BY IT SELF AND A RED NOTIFICATION SAYING SOMETHING LIKE OIL PRESSURE APPEARS. I WENT TO DEALER AND THEY SAY IS OK. I ENTERED THE VIN IN YOUR SITE AND THERE ARE 2 RECALLS. DEALER NEVER CONTACT ME ABOUT THAT.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR INDICATES THE DRIVERS DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURED AND SHUT. INTERIOR LIGHTS AND CHIME COME ON. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND WHEN IT IS IN MOTION. THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 FORD EDGE. IT IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. THE DOOR IS AJAR LIKE STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. INSIDE CABIN AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH CREATES A HAZARD AT NIGHT. MORE IMPORTANTLY THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH THE "DOOR IS AJAR" SIGNAL ON. THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME BECAUSE MY WIFE (WHOSE CAR IT IS) CAN BE SUBJECT TO A POTENTIAL CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. ADDITIONALLY IT POSES A THREAT TO MY GRANDCHILDREN BECAUSE WE CANNOT ENGAGE THE CHILD LOCK SAFETY FEATURE. FORD TOLD ME IF WOULD COST $400 JUST IN LABOR AND NOT INCLUDING PART TO REPAIR. TO KEEP MY BATTERY FROM DRAINING I HAVE HAD TO REMOVE THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS. ANOTHER PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM A MAJOR MANUFACTURER. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO CORRECT IT. MY CAR ONLY HAS 42K. WHAT'S TO BE DONE.

AT TIMES THE INDICATION DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL THE DOOR AUTO LOCK LOCKS DURING DRIVING. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE FORD MANUFACTURER. THE RANDOM FAULTY INDICATION TAKES DRIVER'S FOCUS AND ATTENTION FROM DRIVING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR IS STAYING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT AND VERIFIED TO BE SHUT ALL THE WAY. THE BELL CHIMES AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING DRIVING THE VEHICLE AWKWARD AND HAZARDOUS. THE INDICATOR STAYS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. THIS IS LISTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT YET FORD HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. COST TO REPAIR APPROXIMATELY $400.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON WHILE DOOR IS CLOSED (IN MOTION, IDLE AND OFF), RESULTING IN THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED IF LEFT OFF TOO LONG. THIS HAS LEFT ME NEEDING TO GET A JUMP IF OUT AND MULTIPLE TIMES CHARGE MY BATTERY IF IT SITS TOO LONG.

2013 FORD EDGE - DOOR AJAR SWITCH HAS GONE BAD IN DRIVERS DOOR. THIS CAUSES DOME LIGHT TO COME ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. MY WIFE HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE EDGE BACK HOME AT NIGHT BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SEE WITH THE DOME LIGHT ON. SEARCHING INTERNET INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MANY NEWER FORD VEHICLE OWNERS. THE ALARMS AND DASH WRITTEN WARNINGS ABOUT A DOOR BEING AJAR (WHEN IT'S NOT) IS A NUISANCE AND BEGIN TO TRY AND IGNORE IT. UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN IT IS AJAR, YOU WILL NOT PAY THE WARNINGS ANY ATTENTION. THE NIGHT DRIVING WITH THE DOME LIGHT ON IS THE BIGGEST SAFETY ISSUE.

THE (DRIVERS SIDE) DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND CHIME COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, CAUSING DISTRACTED DRIVING AND ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING OR PULL OVER IN LESS THAN IDEAL AREAS TO PERFORM THE PROCEDURE. EVENTUALLY THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE OK BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL REPEATEDLY. EVENTUALLY THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM EITHER AND PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO FIND COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS ONLINE. DISABLING THE FEATURE TO AVOID CONSTANT CHIMING AND ALARMS GOING OFF THEN RESULTS IN DISABLING THE FEATURE ALTOGETHER WHICH COULD RESULT IN A DOOR BEING PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY OPEN WITH DRIVER OR PASSENGERS NOT KNOWING. MAY BE PART OF ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVING DEFECTIVE LATCHES. WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS. THIS HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING, SO AFTER SLOWING TO AQ STOP (STOP SIGN) AND THEN MOVING AGAIN.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED TIGHT.(DRIVERS DOOR) THIS CAUSES WARNING LIGHTS AND SOUNDS FROM DASH DISPLAY. THE DOOR OVERHEAD LIGHTS ALSO COME ON. WHEN STOPPING THE WARNING SYSTEM STATES "SHIFT TO PARK". CONSTANT RINGING AND DISPLAY OF THIS PROBLEM BUT THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR. RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET SHOWS A OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE DOOR SENSORS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE FORCE RECALL!
THE FAULTY DOOR CLOSED SWITCH AND/OR DESIGN IS INDICATING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING ALL THE DOORS TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING OR UNLOCK DURING DRIVING IF IT GOES OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX IT. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
