TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IN MOTION, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE DOOR WAS PROPERLY CLOSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000(LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH. " DOOR AJAR" DOES NOT GO OFF. CAUSES DOOR LOCKS TO NOT ENGAGE WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. CHIME RINGS WHENEVER CAR STOPS IN TRAFFIC. YOU CAN RESET WITH ACKNOWLEDGMENT, BUT THE ALARM IMMEDIATELY GOES OFF WHEN CAR STOPS AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. STARTED HAPPENING OFF AND ON, BUT AS TIME WENT ON IT HAPPENED EVERY TIME DRIVING CAR.
DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTION. DOOR IS PROPERLY CLOSED BUT SENSOR DOESN'T COMMUNICATE TO COMPUTER. DOME LIGHTS STAYS ON, DOOR AJAR WARNING- DRAINS BATTERY WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK/STAY LOCKED WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. POOR VISIBILITY WHEN REVERSING IN THE DARK AS DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND REFLECTS ON WINDOWS. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE- IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION
DOOR LATCH SENSOR SAYS THE DOORS ARE OPEN. EVEN AFTER REPEATED SHUTTING/SLAMMING OF DOOR. FIRST IT STARTED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. RECENTLY IT IS ALSO HAPPENING WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR. WITH BOTH DOORS THE DASH BOARD SENSOR 'DOOR AJAR' COMES ON, SOME LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A FEW MINUTES(WHICH AT NIGHT IS A HUGE PROBLEM). WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS THE AUTO LOCKS ASLO WON'T ENGAGE, WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING OR PARKED AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS. THE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR WILL ALSO ISSUE A WARNING TO 'SHIRT IN PARK'. REPEATED SLAMMING OF DOORS DOES NOT FIX THIS ISSUE. REAR DOOR ISSUE OCCURRED FALL/WINTER 2015 DRIVER DOOR ISSUE OCCURRED 8/30/16
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. DOOR SENSOR ISSUE. ALMOST WRECKED WHEN INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING-THE DOOR SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT THE DOOR BEING OPENED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. MAYBE ONE OUT OF TEN DOOR CLOSURES WILL TURN OFF LIGHT. AS A CONSEQUENCE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND DRAINS BATTERY. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY BUT CONTINUES WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR 'DOOR OPEN' LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE OVERHEAD LIGHT WILL STAY ON AND DISTRACT ME WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT WILL ALSO DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF BECAUSE IT DOES NOT REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. CONSTANT CHIMES WEB PAID $139.55 TO FIX AND IT HAS STARTED TO DO IT AGAIN
DRIVERS DOOR AGAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN DRIVING, FRONT INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK FROM INSIDE.
SENSOR ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING THE DOORS NOT TO LOCK, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT TO GO OFF WHEN IT IS LOCKED. THIS ULTIMATELY DRAINED THE BATTERY AND LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INDICATOR CONTINUALLY SAYS DOOR IS AJAR WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND PARKED EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS IN FACT SHUT. I HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS IN FACT CLOSED. TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE TO NOT HAVE A RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN FRONT DOOR LATCHING MECHANISM FAILED TO PROPERLY REGISTER THAT THE VEHICLE DOOR WAS CLOSED. AS A RESULT, AN INTERNAL WARNING MESSAGE INFORMING THE CONTACT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR DISPLAYED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WARNING MESSAGE CHIMED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT FURTHER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF, THE INTERIOR LIGHT FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND SHUT OFF CAUSING THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. FAULTY SWITCH/LATCH IN DOOR.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR FOR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ILLUMINATED AND A CHIME SOUNDED EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DOOR LATCH SENSOR AND ASSAMBLY IS HAVING ISSUES. WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE DOOR OPEN CHIME CONTINUES TO CHIME, DOOM LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE AUTO LOCK WILL NOT ENGAGE. WHEN LEAVING THE VEHICLE THE REMOTE LOCK WILL NOT WORK ON THE DOORS AFFECTED.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL APPROX MOVING 5MPH. A FEW TIMES THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED, AS THE SYSTEM THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. AFTER STOPPING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR USING THE KEY LESS ENTRY KEYPAD. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOORS IS TO USE THE KEY FOB. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, NOW THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.
WE RECENTLY HEARD THAT THE EDGE WAS BEING INVESTIGATED BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LATCH. WE WANT TO REPORT THAT WE HAVE HAD THAT PROBLEM. WE BOUGHT A 2013 EDGE IN DEC 2015. DURING THE FIRST WEEK WE STARTED GETTING THE WARNING MESSAGE THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS OPEN WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY NOT. IT DID NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME WE DROVE THE CAR, BUT WHEN IT DID HAPPEN, THE MESSAGE KEPT REPEATING & THERE WAS NO WAY TO STOP IT. ON JULY 26, 2016, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM WAS THE DOOR LATCH. IT COST $486.57 FOR REPLACEMENT (SEE INVOICE). WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION, I TALKED TO THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP & HE SAID THAT IT WAS 'POSSIBLE' THAT WE WOULD BE REIMBURSED BY FORD IF A RECALL WERE ISSUED. ANOTHER FORD WORKER IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID HE DOES NOT THINK THERE WILL BE A RECALL BECAUSE THERE HAVE NOT BEEN THAT MANY INCIDENTS. AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN PLENTY OF INCIDENTS. IF THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. WE ARE LIVING ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND $486.57 IS A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF OUR INCOME. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FORD'S MISTAKE. WE URGE YOU TO ISSUE A RECALL SO THAT WE CAN ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 2015, THE DRIVERS' SIDE DOOR WILL BE FIRMLY CLOSED AND THE 'DOOR AJAR' ALARM WILL CONTINUALLY SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THE DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL REPEATEDLY SOUND DESPITE REPEATED OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE DOOR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION FOR ABOUT 100 FEET, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT FUNCTION (STAY UNLOCKED), AND THE DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL CONTINUALLY SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP OR SLOWS DOWN TO LESS THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 THAT THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND DRIVEN. THIS OCCURS WHEN IN MOTION, STATIONARY, ON OUR DRIVEWAY, ON THE CITY STREETS OR OTHER ROADWAYS, ETC.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON,WE HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, WHEN THE CAR IS ON IT CAUSES THE WARNING CHIME TO CONSTANTLY SOUND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WOULD ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATE. THE FAILURE INDICATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS UNSECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE FRONT PASSAGENER SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THE DRIVERS DOOR GIVES ERROR UPON CLOSING INDICATING THE DOOR IS AJAR. AFTER CLOSING DOOR MANY TIMES THE MESSAGE IS STILL THERE. WHEN THE DOOR IS AJAR THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT FUNCTION MEANING YOU ARE VULNERABLE TO A CAR JACKING BECAUSE YOUR DOORS WON'T LOCK. WHEN YOU GET OUT THE CAR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON UNTIL THE FAILSAFE TIMES THEM OUT FOR EMERGENCY SHUTOFF BUT, THE DOORS ARE STILL UNLOCKED. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BECOME WORST IN THE WINTER TIME. I DO NOT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM DURING THE WARM SUMMER MONTHS.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CONTINUOUSLY GOING OFF WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. CONTINUES TO STAY ON AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHUT DOOR TO MAKE ALARM GO OFF. MAKES IT A DRIVING DISTRACTION.. HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND WE JUST TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE REPAIRED. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTED OVER $500 TO REPAIR. WE CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR RIGHT NOW SO WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT UNTIL WE CAN. AGAIN, A MAJOR DRIVING DISTRACTION
BOTH THE DRIVER AND DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LATCHES AND SENSOR FAILED. THE SENSOR BELIEVES THAT THE DOORS ARE AJAR WHEN IN FACT THEY ARE NOT. BECAUSE OF THIS FAILURE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING UNTIL YOU REACH A CERTAIN SPEED. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT BECAUSE IT IS HARD TO SEE OUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON FOR A VERY LONG TIME AFTER YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IF YOU TAKE THIS IN TO BE FIXED IT COSTS AT LEAST $345.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS UNLOCKED INDEPENDENTLY AND A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO PARK THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE DOME LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY AND COULD NOT BE SWITCHED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IN THE DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
FAULTY DOOR AJAR SENSOR. RELATED TO THE TSB-14-0011.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR CONSTANTLY TURNS ON AND WON'T SHUT OFF - AT TIMES I HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR 10+ TIMES TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF. ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS DON'T LOCK. VERY UNSAFE CONDITIONS. IT HAS GONE ON FOR 6 MONTHS AND I HAVE FINALLY HAD ENOUGH. COST TO GET IT FIXED IT $300. ONCE THIS RECALL GOES THRU I WILL BE REQUESTING MY MONEY BACK. I SEE THEY RECALLED SEVERAL YEARS WORTH OF VEHICLES OF FORDS, JUST NOT THE NEWER ONES. RIP OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE ISSUE; HOWEVER DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSIS COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAULTY. THE PANEL SHOWS THAT A DOOR IS AJAR WHICH IS NOT. THIS CAUSES THE DOMELIGHT TO TURN ON FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. WHEN IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT VISIBILITY IS POOR AND DANGEROUS. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED TWO SENSOR ON ONE DOOR (DRIVERS SIDE) NOW GOING ON THIRD (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE) IT BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS SINCE VISIBILTY AT IS BAD. THIS COMPLAINT IS BECOMING PRETTY COMUN. A COMMUNITY OF FORD CUSTOMERS THAT REALLY NEEDE HELP. JUST HOPE IT DOES NOT BECOME A TRAGEDY.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND I AM NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE IN THE VEHICLE. THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SENSOR PREVENTS ME FROM RECOGNIZING WHEN THERE IS A REAL AJAR DOOR SITUATION. ALSO, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AT NIGHT CAUSING A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CLOSING. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN THE CAR IS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL STAY ON BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, IT TAKES SLAMMING THE DOOR MANY TIMES TO TRIGGER THE LIGHTS TO GO OFF. NOW IT IS AT THE POINT WE ARE AFRAID IT WON'T GO OFF AT ALL OR WE WILL DAMAGE THE DOOR, SO WE ARE ENTERING THE CAR THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE IN ORDER NOT TO SET THE ISSUE OFF AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND I CANNOT LOCK MY CAR DOORS. I HEARD VIA THE WEB THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE AND OTHER FORD MODELS. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED. THEY ARE REPLACING THE DOOR ASSEMBLY AND IT IS COSTING ME ABOUT $400.00 BUT WE CANNOT CONTINUE DRIVING IT IN THIS CONDITION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HORRIBLE DESIGN AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND A BETTER FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. AT THE RATE THIS IS HAPPENING I WILL NEED TO HAVE THE DOOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED IN ANOTHER TWO YEARS. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE!
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, IN PARK AND IN DRIVE, AND WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. SAFETY ISSUE IS LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT ALSO DOES NOT SHUT OFF THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS DRAINED AND RUINED THE BATTERY(WHICH I HAVE REPLACED BECAUSE I WAS LEFT STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES) THIS VEHICLE HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT. THIS COMPLAINT NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED AND A RECALL ISSUED TO REPAIR THIS.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL NOT TURN OFF. LIGHTS KEEP GOING ON WHILE DRIVING.
DOOR AJAR SWITCH KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING. DOOR WILL BE COMPLETELY CLOSED AND WARNING LIGHT COMES ON SAYING DRIVER'S DOOR IS STILL OPEN. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND WARNING LIGHT COMES ON TO TELL YOU TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. FOUND MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET WITH SAME PROBLEM. FORD CHARGING $300.00 TO $500.00 TO REPLACE SWITCH. WE HAVE TAKING IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID IT JUST NEEDED ADJUSTMENT. SWITCH IS NOW MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR BEING FIXED.
THE DOOR SENSOR ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR VERY HARD SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT SAYS THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CAN LEAVE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS RUNNING AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCKING PROPERLY.
WHEN SHUT, THE DOOR DOES NOT REGISTER AS SUCH. I HAVE HAD TO OPEN/CLOSE IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE "DOOR AJAR" SIGNAL GOES OFF. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING, AND NOW I BELIEVE THE 'SENSOR' HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. THE DOOR SHUTS, LOCKS, AND ARMS THE ALARM, YET THE DOME LIGHT AND AJAR SYMBOL CONTINUE TO STAY ON. FORD HAS TOLD ME THIS IS A "WEAR AND TEAR" ISSUE THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER! I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE AFFECT MANY FORD MODELS BETWEEN 2001-2015 BUT MORE PROMINENTLY WHEN IT COMES TO THE EDGE. I GOT THE VEHICLE 08/2015 AND THIS ISSUE STARTED OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY BY 12/2015; NOW, THIS IS OCCURRING EACH TIME I HAVE TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR.
DOOR AJAR IS CONTINUALLY COMING ON. THE DOORS LOCKS, BUT UNLOCK IMMEDIATELY WHEN IN MOTION AND DOME LIGHT STAY ON FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THEN GOES OUT. WHEN CAR IS IN PARK CHIME AND DOOR AJAR ICON DOES NOT GO OFF UNTIL KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION. WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED THE DOME LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, UNTIL LATELY WHEN INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON INDEFINITELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,487.
IT STARTED SPORADICALLY AND NOW IT IS AN EVERY TURN THE KEY OCCURRENCE. THE DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED. THE CAR WILL 'SENSE' IT IS NOT CLOSED. DURING THIS TIME, IT WILL NOT LOCK, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, SENSING THE DOOR IS OPEN WILL REMAIN ON. TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF SLAMMING THE DOOR FOR IT TO REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. OCCASIONALLY, DURING DRIVING, IT WILL ALL OF THE SUDDEN SHOW AND BEEP THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN AND WILL UNLOCK ALL 4 DOORS. TODAY, WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE TO GO TO WORK, IT HAPPENED AS USUAL HOWEVER, THIS TIME, REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSED THE DOOR (SLAMMED, GENTLY PUSHED IT) IT WOULD NOT REGISTER CLOSED. I HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, RESTART THE VEHICLE, CLOSE THE DOOR 4 TIMES FOR IT TO REGISTER THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THIS VEHICLE HAS 38K MILES.
DRIVER'S DOOR SWITCH MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING VEHICLE TO THINK LEFT FRONT DOOR IS AJAR, EVEN WHEN IT'S SECURELY LATCHED. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO EMIT A CONSTANT WARNING CHIME WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION UNDER ANY OPERATING CONDITIONS: VEHICLE OFF, ACCESSORY, KEY ON, NOT RUNNING, AND IN RUN. THE CHIME ALSO SOUNDS EACH TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED AFTER EACH STOP, WITH THE CHIME OVERRIDING THE TURN SIGNAL SOUND. INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT SHUT OFF AT LOW SPEEDS, OBSCURING VISION AT NIGHT. ALSO, ALL DOOR LOCK FUNCTION IS OVERRIDDEN (AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL), ALLOWING ANY DOOR TO BE OPENED AT ANY TIME - WHETHER VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT. IN MY SPECIFIC CASE, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING COULD OCCASIONALLY BE CURED BY AGGRESSIVELY SLAMMING THE DRIVERS DOOR SHUT SEVERAL TIMES. OUR VEHICLE HAS THE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND INHERENTLY FRAGILE ACOUSTIC GLASS INSTALLED, WHICH SHATTERED WHEN THE DOOR WAS SLAMMED WITH THE WINDOW IN THE DOWN POSITION. I AM REPLACING THE FAULTY LATCH AND DOOR GLASS MYSELF AT MY OWN EXPENSE, BUT I INTEND TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT FROM FORD EITHER THROUGH A RECALL OR POTENTIALLY THROUGH A SMALL CLAIMS LAWSUIT.
ONCE AGAIN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED, AND ALL DOORS/HATCH ARE PROPERLY CLOSED. I HAVE TO SLAM THE DRIVER'S DOOR VERY HARD MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT WILL GO OFF AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE LOCKED, AND THE ALARM TO BE SET!!! MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT. THE FRUSTRATING THING IS I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER IN JUNE AND THEY CLAIM THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. WELL, THEY WERE WRONG, VERY WRONG!
WHEN TAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN ONTO ANOTHER ROAD, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ILLUMINATION TO THE SIDE DURING THE ACTUAL TURN UNTIL COMPLETED ON RURAL ROADS WITH NO LIGHTING. THE EXPERIENCE IS LIKE TURNING INTO A BLACK HOLE UNTIL FRONT WHEELS ARE BACK STRAIGHT. ROAD SIDES WITH ADJACENT DITCHES OR ANYTHING IN THE ROAD LIKE PEOPLE OR ANIMALS WILL NOT BE SEEN, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. LOW BEAM ILLUMINATION IS NOT THAT GOOD UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES; IT LIKE DRIVING WITH TWO VERY NARROW BEAM FIXED FLASHLIGHTS. LAST WEEK I ALMOST MISSED A TURN ON AN UNFAMILIAR ROAD BY JUST MISSING RUNNING INTO A DITCH CLOSE TO THE ROADSIDE AT ITS' INTERSECTION.
THE DOOR AJAR LIKE STAYS ON WHILE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF. THE INSIDE LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON UNTIL THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT GOES OFF. THE OTHER DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY FORD UNDER A RECALL
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT ALWAYS GO OFF WHEN DOOR CLOSES. THIS CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND AT NIGHT CAUSES DRIVER TO NOT SEE AS WELL. ALSO, DOORS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN DOOR SENSOR DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY WHICH IS WORRISOME IN SOME PARTS OF TOWN. MANY TIMES DOME LIGHTS MAY STAY ON FOR HOURS WHEN DOOR SHOWS TO BE AJAR. THIS OF COURSE CAUSES BATTERY TO RUN DOWN WHICH HAS REQUIRED BATTERY TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE HELP AS I NOW KNOW THERE ARE MANY FORD OWNERS WHO WILL NOT PURCHASE OR RECOMMEND ANY FORD TO FAMILY OR FRIENDS.

THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. ALSO THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK/STAY LOCKED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN INITIALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM TO BE EITHER IN THE SENSOR OR THE DOOR LATCH ITSELF. AT FIRST IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM, BUT NOW SEEMS TO BE OCCURRING MORE OFTEN. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR A FEW WEEKS. WILL BE TAKING IT TO BE REPAIRED IN A FEW DAYS
