PART OF THE DASHBOARD WILL MADLY CHANGE ON ITS OWN GOING THOUGH THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS LIKE IT'S STUCK; THE NAVIGATION DISPLAY AND DASH BOARD WHEN STARTING THE CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS LIGHT UP LIKE IT USED TO DO. THERE IS A DELAY AT TIMES. THE AMBIANT LIGHTING NOMATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CHOOSE PINK IT ALWAYS DEFAULTS BACK TO BLUE ON ITS OWN. MY CAR HAS BEGUN TO MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE UNDER THE CARRIAGE, WE SUSPECT IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO MOVE FORWARD. JUST THE OTHER EVENING AFTER LEAVING WORK, MY INTERIOR OVERHEAD LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF. NOMATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF. THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE DASH BOARD BEGAN A WHILE BACK AND THE NOISE JUST RECENTLY. THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR IS 36,000 MORE OR LESS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO OUR CAR. WELL TAKEN CARE OF, I DRIVE IT TO WORK AND BACK. THE CAR JUST TURNED IN AUGUST 2 YEARS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP THIS COMING TUESDAY. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, I PRAY THAT IT IS. JUST TODAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT LOCK AS WELL. I WILL UPDATE AS SOON AS I TAKE IT TO THE SERVICE DEPT.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM. DOOR IS CLOSED BUT SWITCH IS NOT MADE UP. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IF THE LOCK SWITCH IS ACTUATED, 2 SECONDS LATER IT UNLOCKS ALL DOORS. THIS COULD BE HAZARDOUS WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE OR WHEN DRIVING IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS BUT REFUSES TO RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT DEEMED A SAFETY ISSUE BY THEM.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED AND KNOW NUMEROUS OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAILS AND SHOWS THE WARNING LIGHT THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN SHUT. NOW DOORS WON'T LOCK WHILE DRIVING, INTERIOR LIGHTS MOMENTARILY STAY ON AND THE ALARM BEEPS ( WARNING THAT THE DOOR AJAR IS KEEPING IT FROM SETTING PROPERLY. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND SO DOES MY REAR CABIN LIGHT. BOTH LIGHTS STAY ON AS I'M DRIVING. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE, I FOUND THAT IT IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM.
SHIFT TO PARK WE HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS PROBLEM EVEN AFTER SPENDING $313 ON 9/23/15 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED (CURRENT DATE IS 10/29/17). WE PUT IT IN PARK & TURN OFF THE CAR, BUT WE GET THE MESSAGE TO "SHIFT TO PARK" ON THE SCREEN & THE SCREEN WON'T GO OFF WHICH THEN CAN RUN OUT THE BATTERY. IT GETS TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR WON'T EVEN START. SEEMS LIKE MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN POSTED ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON DIFFERENT MODELS. FORD SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED THIS FOR FREE &/OR SHOULD REIMBURSE ANY ONE WHO HAS HAD TO PAY FOR IT.
DOOR AJAR PROBLEM. DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON ALONG WITH INTERIOR LIGHTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A CHIME SOUNDED AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED; HOWEVER, THE DOOR WAS CLOSED SECURELY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING AND AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. UPDATED 09/08/16*LJ *JS
I WAS DRIVING TO WALMART WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED FROM 45MPH TO LESS THAN 3MPH AND NO MATTER WHAT INPUT WAS GIVEN TO THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACT. THE TACK WAS UNDER 900 AND ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH A WARNING CAME UP LOOKING LIKE A WRENCH. ONCE I PULLED OVER TRIED TO DO A VEHICLE REPORT AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DO A MAINTENANCE CHECK. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; NO PROBLEMS RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND NO MEMORIES OF WHY THE ENGINE DID WHAT IT DID (CALLED "LIMP HOME STATUS"). THERE IS ALSO NO MEMORY WITHIN THE PCM ABOUT THE VEHICLE GOING INTO THIS MODE OR WHY.THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS ON A HIGH WAY. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING; ALL WITH SAME RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NO IDEA WHY IT WENT INTO LIMP HOME AND NO MEMORY OF THAT STATUS AFTER RESTART.
ITS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD THE SENSOR IN THE DRIVER DOOR FAIL, THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHCILE STAY ON, BOTH INTERIOR AND DRIVING LAPS, WHICH WILL ALLOW THE BATTERY TO DRAIN, WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED I GET THE DOOR AJAR CHIME PLUS A DASH NOTICE THAT A DOOR IS AJAR, BUT THE REALL KICKER IS IT BLACKS OUT THE REST OF THE DASH TO WHERE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, CANNOT READ SPEED OR RPM ALONG WITH THE OTHER INFORMATION. I AM CONCERNED THAT ONCE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY THIS WILL BE A COSTLY AND TIME CONSUMING PROBLEM. THIS ITEM NEED A BE PART OF A RECALL.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER DOOR IS SHUT. WHILE DRIVING, THE NOTICE CONTINUES TO BEEP AND ALERTS THE DRIVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK WHICH IS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE OF DRIVER DISTRACTION. WHILE DRIVING, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH CAUSES A ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD. IN ADDITION TO THESE BEING A SAFETY CONCERN, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT SHUT OFF. NOW I AM CONCERNED THAT I MAY GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH A DEAD BATTERY. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW, IS NOW 2 1/2 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY COULD GET ME AN APPOINTMENT 5 DAYS LATER. THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND NOW THEY ARE GETTING ME IN THE FOLLOWING DAY.
DRIVER'S DOOR FALSELY INDICATING AJAR. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS AT 29K MILES AND LOCAL FORD DEALER CLEANED IT PER TSB 15-0013 AND THE SYSTEM WORKED FINE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. ISSUE WOULD REOCCUR SPORADICALLY FOR VARYING DURATION. IT IS NOW A DAILY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IS "NOT A WARRANTY ITEM". THIS ISSUE PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AS THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON AS IF THE DOOR WAS OPENED CAUSING REDUCED VISIBILITY AS WELL AS REMOVING FOCUS FROM THE ROAD TO MANUALLY OVERRIDE THE INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM.
I WAS DRIVING MY FRIEND AND HER 9YR OLD TO THE STORE, MY DOOR LOCK SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING AND SAID DOOR AJAR SO I WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS IN DRIVE I TRIED AND THEY WHOULD JUST UNLOCK. MY FRIENDS CHILD WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE I WAS GOING 45MPH SHE COULD HAVE FELL OUT. THIS DOOR AJAR PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND IM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR USED SO ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS A HUGE SAFTEY ISSUE AND I GUESS AFTER READING THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE THAT NOTHING IS GOING TO BE DONE UNTILL THERE IS A DEATH INSTEAD OF TRYING TO AVOID ONE. ALSO I HEARD THE POLICE VERSION OF THE EXPLORER HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND FORD RECALLED IT RIGHT AWAY WHY NOT THE CONSUMER IT SEEMS LIKE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE CONSUMERS SAFETY. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SOMEONE ACTULLY GETS HURT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE'S DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR AND SHUT IT, BUT THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER PIPE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM FAILED TO OPERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,338.
DRIVING FORD EDGE 2013 APPROX. 40 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO ALMOST A DEAD STOP. IT SEEMED AS IF THE BRAKES BECAME FULLY ENGAGED OR THE TRANSMISSION SEIZED. A TRUCK BEHIND US SWERVED AND BRAKED AND ALMOST CRASHED INTO US. MY 2 CHILDREN AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AS IT MOVED ABOUT 2 MPH. I BARELY WAS ABLE TO GET IT OVER TO THE RIGHT, OFF THE HIGHWAY. IT WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER. A RED WRENCH ICON LIT ON THE DASH. I TOWED IT TO MIDWAY FORD. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE THROTTLE BODY PART IS DEFECTIVE AND RECALLED, BUT RESETS ITSELF IF VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF FOR A WHILE, SO IF I DID NOT TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, FORD WOULD FIX IT FOR FREE. SINCE I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND IT RESET, I HAD TO PAY HIM $900 TO REPLACE IT. SINCE I DID NOT HAVE $900, HE ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY SLOWLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM NOW ON, AS A PRECAUTION SO MY CHILDREN OR I DO NOT GET INJURED OR KILLED THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. IF THIS IS FORD'S CRITERIA FOR REPLACING THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECTIVE PART, THAT IT MUST BE IN ACTIVE DEFECT STATUS WHEN ARRIVING AT THE DEALER, THEN NOT ONLY HAS FORD HAS FOUND A WAY TO BEAT PAYING FOR THE 1.6 MILLION VEHICLES THEY AGREED TO RECALL WITH THIS DEFECT, SINCE YOU CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT 900 RPM TO THE DEALER, OR TOW IT WHILE RUNNING, BUT FORD IS GETTING RICH OFF THE RECALL (THE PART IS ABOUT $185 AND TAKES 15 MINUTES TO REPLACE), AND 1.6 MILLION PEOPLE MUST PAY FORD $900 TO FIX A RECALLED DEFECTIVE PART.
ALTHOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED THE SENSOR DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY AND REPORTS THE DOOR IS STILL AJAR. THERE IS NO APPARENT OVERRIDE FOR THIS WHICH CAUSES THE DOME LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE DOORS TO LOCK.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR ERROR MESSAGE STAYS ON WHEN THE KEY IS ON AND WHEN DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CANNOT RESET IT AND A WARNING BEEP CONTINUES AS THE ERROR CANNOT BE CLEARED. STARTED A MONTH AGO AND WOULD RANDOMLY APPEAR NOW IT STAYS ON. ALSO WHEN I LOCK MY CAR NOW WITH THE REMOTE IT BEEPS TWICE NOT ONCE. I FEEL THERE COULD BE AN ISSUE WITH SECURITY NOW TOO.

THE FAILURE INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS STILL OPEN AND CAUSED THE DOME LIGHT TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OFTHE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILIABLE.
I PURCHASED A 2013 FORD EDGE IN APRIL 2013, DRIVING FOR TWO YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH THE WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD, A SECOND LATER, THE VEHICLE DECREASED FROM 65 MPH TO 0 MPH, SITTING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES WITH VEHICLE STILL RUNNING VERY LOW, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, WAS ASKED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE THERE. AS OF SEPTEMBER 12TH THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP, WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS SITUATION IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE'S DOORS WERE CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
THE DOOR SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS FAULTY AND WILL REPORT THE DOOR AS AJAR WHEN IT IS POSITIVELY NOT AJAR. THIS PREVENTS THE CAR FROM BEING ABLE TO BE LOCKED AND CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY NUMEROUS PERSONS AND FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS IT.
MY WIFE AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME COMPLAINT AS MANY OTHERS IN NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK DOORS, AND WITH DOME LIGHTS COMING ON AS A RESULT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATED COMING ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS PROPERLY SHUT. WE CONSIDER THESE ISSUES TO ADVERSELY AFFECT ATTENTION TO SAFE DRIVING.
WHEN CLOSING THE DRIVERS DOOR THE DOME LIGHTS, WARNING BUZZER AND AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON. THESE CONDITIONS REMAIN CONSTANT DURING THE DRIVE. SUSPECT THE DOOR SWITCH IS EITHER STUCK OR DEFECTIVE. PERIODICALLY THE WARNING LIGHT GOES OFF BUT THEN COMES BACK ON DURING THE DRIVE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
CA. PASSENGER DOOR SAYS AJAR AFTER SHUTTING DOOR. CAN OPEN AND SHUT OVER AND OVER AND SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF, OTHER TIMES WILL NOT. CAUSES LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND NOT RUNNING. SAFETY CONCERN: THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, LEAVING THE BACK DOORS UNLOCKED WITH SMALL CHILDREN ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE STOPS THE ANNOYING ALERT SENSOR SIGNAL KEEPS GOING OFF. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS, I SEE IT IS VERY COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR IN DRIVER DOOR REMAINS IN "AJAR" STATUS EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION WITH THE FOLLOWING: 1. CONTINUOUS ALERT 2. DOME LIGHT REMAINS LIT, CAUSING VISION ISSUE WHILE NIGHT DRIVING 3. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK THE LAST ONE IS THE MOST CONCERNING AS IT COULD CREATE A SITUATION WHERE A DOOR MAY ACCIDENTALLY BE OPENED DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. ALSO COULD CREATE ISSUES IN HIGHER CRIME AREAS AT STOPLIGHTS (SOMEONE COULD ACCESS THE CAR DUE TO NOT BEING LOCKED) THIS SITE REQUIRES ME TO LIST A DATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND I HAVE ENTERED THE FIRST DAY I REMEMBER IT, BUT IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR MADE AN ALERT THAT THE LEFT FRONT (DRIVER'S) DOOR WAS AJAR ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT SEEM TO BE. I STOPPED AT THE NEXT LIGHT AND RECLOSED THE DOOR YET THE ALERT DID NOT GO AWAY UNTIL THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AGGRESSIVELY A COUPLE OF TIMES. SINCE THAT INITIAL INCIDENT, THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT THE ALERT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. AFTER TRACKING DOWN THE PROBLEM MYSELF I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM IS PRIMARILY DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR. AFTER CONSULTING WITH A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND AN INTERNET SEARCH, IT'S BEEN DISCOVERED THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE AND MANY OTHER FORD MODEL VEHICLES WHICH USE THIS SAME PART AND ALWAYS THE DRIVER'S DOOR (POTENTIALLY BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST USED). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED DUE TO THE FOLLOWING: 1) THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD; 2) THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN SITTING IN A PUBLIC AREA AT NIGHT; 3) THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM RECOGNIZING A TRUE DOOR AJAR SITUATION; 4) THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON, OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, SAYS SHIFT TO PARK AFTER STOPPING & STARTING AGAIN.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. IT KEEPS ME FROM LOCKING THE DOORS WHILE INSIDE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE ISSUE FIXED WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE DRIVER DOOR BUT THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN WITH THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT AT ALL TIMES.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING AND THEY CAN ONLY BE LOCKED MANUALLY, THE DOME LIGHTS WILL NEVER GO OFF AND EVENTUALLY THE BATTERY DIES, AND THE AC WILL ONLY BLOW COLD ON 1 SETTING. IT WILL NOT BLOW HEAT. THE KEYPAD WILL NOT LET THE VEHICLE LOCK WHEN THE WARNING IS ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY, AND INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T HAPPEN, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR 20 TIMES TO GET IT TO LOCK PROPERLY WITH THE LIGHTS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE TRACKING SYSTEM SHUTDOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERABLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WINDOWS FAILED TO OPERATE, THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO UNLOCK AND THE VENTILATION SYSTEM EMITTED HOT AIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WRONG COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS DOWNLOADED TO THE VEHICLE AND THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPGRADED TO THE CORRECT SOFTWARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM: THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON. I HAVE TO CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I AM DRIVING THE CAR. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD DOORS.

WHEN THE CABIN LIGHTS CAME ON THEY CAUSED TEMP BLINDNESS AND I SWERVED ALMOST HITTING PEDESTRIANS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ALSO ALL DOORS UNLOCKED WHEN THIS HAPPENED I FEAR SPMEONE WITH CHILDREN WOULD FIND THIS ALARMING DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEIR CHILDREN COULD EASILY OPEN THE DOOR BECAUSE OF THE DOORS BEING UNLOCKED. AFTER MY INCIDENT I HAVE TO CLOSE THE DOOR MULTIABLE TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY WORK SOMETIMES SLAMMING IT WHICH COULD CAUSE MY WINDOW TO SHATTER BUT ITS THE ONLY WAY IT WORKS. I FEEL THAT FORD HAS PUT A SUB PAR LATCH ON THESE CARS AND HAVE LOOKED UP ONLINE TO SEE IF I WAS THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT 1 OUT OF FIVE EDGE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I TRIED CONTACTING FORD THEY JUST ADVISE ME TO GO TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHICH I DID BUT I DIDNT HAVE THE $400 REQUIRED TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED AT THE GET GO. I MOTION FOR A RECALL ON THIS PART.

AROUND THE END OF AUGUST 2015 THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE DOOR IS CLOSED BUT THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CONTINUES TO SHOW THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSED. IT APPEARS THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE WITH THE SAME LATCH/SENSOR PROBLEM ON FORD PRODUCTS. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING IN ADDITION TO A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT JOLT.THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS NOTHING WHAT HAPPENING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IN PARK THE VEHICLE IDLED VERY ROUGH. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND MOMENTS I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE AND IT TOOK ABOUT 5 SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO TURN OVER, BUT WHEN IT DID TURN ON THE WARNING LIGHT WAS GONE AND THE GAS PEDAL WORKED. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THE RPM'S WENT UP. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WORKED NORMAL. I'VE READ A ABOUT 100 REVIEWS FROM THREE DIFFERENT WEBSITES FROM PEOPLE WHO THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO MY DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING STARTED COMING ON WHEN I WOULD CLOSE THE DOOR. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE SENSOR TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS IN FACT SHUT (IT HAS TAKEN UP TO 10X). ON AUGUST 8TH, 2015 AT ABOUT 4:45 PM, I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND MY VEHICLE STOPPED AND LOST ALL POWER. MESSAGE I RECEIVED WAS "NO OIL TO ENGINE". I TRIED TO START MY 2013 EDGE BUT HAD NO LUCK. I CALLED ROAD ASSISTANCE FOR A TOW TRUCK AND THE VEHICLE WENT TO THE MANKATO FORD DEALERSHIP. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK ON AUGUST 11TH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I DO WISH FORD WOULD DO A RECALL OF THE EDGE AND ESCAPES. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME AND A VEHICLE WILL STOP AND GET HIT BY A SEMI AND SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED AS A RESULT.
