"DOOR AJAR" SIGN WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR PROPERLY. THE SIGN STAYS ON DURING A DRIVE WITH SEVERAL ALERTS TO STOP THE CAR, "SHIFT TO PARK" AND SHUT THE DOOR. ALSO, WHEN YOU TRY TO LOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY, THE SYSTEM STILL THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS A ISSUE OF SAFETY FOR THE DRIVER, AND PASSENGERS (ESPECIALLY CHILDREN) IF THEIR DOOR CANNOT BE PROPERLY LOCKED. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING THE SIGN WOULD GO OFF AFTER 3-5 ATTEMPTS. NOW AFTER 10 DAYS OF HAVING THIS ISSUE, THIS SIGN WILL NOT GO OFF AT ALL. AS WELL AS THE CABIN LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, DRAINING THE BATTERY (EVEN IF THE CAR IS NOT TURNED ON). FINALLY, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SPRING IS BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR, THE SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER FORD BRANDS THEY HAVE ALREADY RECALLED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR TRANSPORTING CHILDREN DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. I HOPE THIS ISSUE IS TAKEN UNDER SERIOUS CONSIDERATION SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY A ISSUE FOR THE 2013 FORD EDGE AS MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING STRUCTURE AND LOST ALL POWER. I TRIED TO RESTART IT, NO LUCK. VEHICLE TURNED BACK ON AFTER 2ND ATTEMPT TO RESTART AND SEEMED FINE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DOWNTOWN FORD IN SACRAMENTO, CA WHO SAID THE ISSUE "MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE WIRING PANEL" AND CLAIMED TO FIX IT. SECOND INCIDENT: AUGUST 2015 (MILEAGE: 35,755) VEHICLE WAS AGAIN IN A PARKING STRUCTURE AND LOST ALL POWER. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO FOLSOM LAKE FORD IN FOLSOM, CA WHERE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AFTER THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS. I WAS TOLD "MAYBE RADIO INTERFERENCE" CAUSED THE PROBLEM OR MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS IN A CEMENT PARKING STRUCTURE. I PARK IN THIS SAME PARKING STRUCTURE MONDAY - FRIDAY AND THIS ISSUE DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY SO THE LOCATION IS NOT A FACTOR. THE VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER RANDOMLY SO I FEAR THAT WHEN I AM ON A FREEWAY OR TRAVELING ON A CURVY ROAD AND EXPERIENCE THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, IT COULD CAUSE A FATAL CRASH. A CASE NUMBER CAS7689216 WAS OPENED BECAUSE WE TOLD FORD THAT I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. FORD'S CSM CONTACTED BOTH ME AND MY HUSBAND AND REQUESTED THAT WE CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE UNSAFE VEHICLE AND HAVE FORD INSTALL A MONITORING DEVICE SO THAT THEY CAN DETERMINE THE CAUSE THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS. I EXPRESSED THAT THIS IS NOT A RISK I AM WILLING TO TAKE BECAUSE OUR LIVES MATTER. SECOND OPTION IS TO TURN OVER THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND PAY FOR THEIR TECHNICIANS TO PERFORMED "A LONG TEST DRIVE" WHICH WOULD INCUR POSSIBLY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN SERVICE HOURS AND FUEL. NOT SURE WHY THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX A LEMON VEHICLE. THIRD OPTION GIVEN BY THE CSM WAS TO HAVE BBB BUY BACK THE VEHICLE WHICH DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE AN ACTUAL OPTION AVAILABLE THROUGH BBB. FORD'S CSM TOLD ME "IF WE CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEN THERE IS NO PROBLEM."
EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, THE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED, NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, ENGINE WAS RUNNING, AIR CONDITIONING AND POWER STEERING REMAINED ACTIVE. TURNED ONTO A SIDE ROAD AND COASTED TO A STOP. ONCE STOPPED, SHIFTED TO PARK, TRIED TO REV THE ENGINE, NO RESPONSE. SHIFTED TO PARK. TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, RESTARTED, DROVE NORMALLY FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.... VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC....UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF
LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE STAYS ON, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE INTERIOR/DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING, EVEN AT NIGHT TIME, SO IT IS HARD TO SEE TO DRIVE. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AS EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE WE ARE INSIDE OUR VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF, AND MY GROWING FAMILY. FOR ONE, NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS TO KEEP OURSELVES PROTECTED AND SAFE INSIDE OUR VEHICLE HAS ME VERY CONCERNED. THIS VEHICLE IS SUPPOSE TO BE OUR FAMILY CAR THAT I FEEL SAFE AND SECURE IN WITH MY SPOUSE AND CHILDREN. ALSO, DRIVING AT NIGHT WHILE THE DOME LIGHTS CONTINUE TO STAY ON PREVENTS ME FROM SEEING EVERYTHING PROPERLY AT NIGHT. I SERIOUSLY FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THIS WAY. THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR THAT NEEDS THIS DOOR LATCHED REPLACED DUE TO A FAULTY LATCH. PLEASE, SEND OUT THE RECALL. HELP ME PROTECT MY FAMILY AND THOSE AROUND ME FROM ANY ACCIDENTS THAT MAY HAPPEN DUE TO THIS FAULTY DOOR LATCH. DOOR AJAR AND LATCH ISSUE - THE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN I CLOSE MY DOOR AND THEN INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON. I THEN AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE BEING IN THE VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A FAULTY LATCH. WHEN I MOVE THE LATCH WITH MY FINGERS, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL TEMPORARILY GO OFF BUT SOMETIMES WILL EVEN COME BACK ON WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED THAT THE DRIVER DOOR WAS NOT LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DOME LIGHTS, AJAR LIGHT OTHER DASH BOARD LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN I GET OUT OF THE CAR. I CAN LOCK OR NOT AND THEY WILL STAY ON AND DRAIN MY BATTERY. I SOMETIMES TAKE 5 MINUTES OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS AND LOCKING/UNLOCKING VEHICLE BEFORE IT WILL GO OFF. ALSO WHILE TRAVELING THE DOME LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND AT NIGHT I HAVE TO STOP OR HAVE A WRECK. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHY HASN'T FORD DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WILL NEVER BUY A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATED CAUSING THE DOORS NOT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO REMAINED ILLUMINATED, CAUSING THE BATTERY TO FAIL PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A FAILURE CODE WAS LOCATED AT THE REAR DOOR LOCKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
RIGHT BEFORE OUR 3 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED THE "DRIVERS DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WE CHECKED IT OUT AND OTHER ITEMS AND ALL SEEMED TO BE OK. ONE OR TWO DAYS LATER IT CAME ON AGAIN AND CLEARED WHEN WE SHUT THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. NOW 8 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY IT SEEMS TO COME ON ALMOST ALL THE TIME AND WON'T CLEAR. ALSO, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON TOO. I CALLED THE DEALER AND SAID IT WOULD COST ME $125 BUCKS TO DIAGNOSE PLUS REPAIR. HE SAID I COULD CALL FORD. I CALLED FORD AND SPOKE TO KEVIN WHO CREATED CASE # CAS7689552, BUT GOT DISCONNECTED. HIS STATEMENT WAS TO BRING IT IN TO A DEALER AND THEN THEY WOULD DECIDE WHAT THEY WOULD DO FOR ME AFTER INSPECTION. I REALLY THOUGHT FORD WOULD JUST FIX THIS. I THEN CALLED BACK AND SPOKE TO KENDRA WHO WAS NICE BUT SAME THING. I ASKED HER WHAT SHE THOUGHT I COULD EXPECT AND SHE SAID IN THE BEST CASE I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A PORTION OF THE BILL. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW ONE GUY TAKE THE WHOLE DOOR OFF TO FIX AND ANOTHER WHO CLEANED FOR A TEMP FIX. THERE WERE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAS TO BE AN ENGINEERING FLAW AND FORD KNOWS THIS. IT IS ALSO UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER DARK WITH YOUR INSIDE DOME LIGHTS ON AND YOUR DOOR CHIMING. PLEASE GET A RECALL ON THIS! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO YET BUT I CANNOT AFFORD A $500 REPAIR BILL ON SOMETHING SO STUPID AS THIS. SHAME ON FORD.
CENTER DASH DISPLAY -- SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER WITH ADJUSTMENT TO THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERS SAYS THAT THE GEAR SHIFT PARKING CONTACT IS NOT SIGNALING THE DASH DISPLAY. IF THE CAR IS LEFT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THE DISPLAY PROBLEM CREATES A DEAD BATTERY. THIS CONDITION EXISTS WHEN THE IGNITION IS OFF, KEYS ARE REMOVED, ALL DOORS ARE SHUT AND THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THIS ISSUE HAS EXISTED FROM 2014 THROUGH FEB. 2, 2016 AND IS ONGOING.
WHILE COMING OFF AN ON RAMP FROM ONE HIGHWAY TO ANOTHER DOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH MY 2013 FORD EDGE JERKED, A WRENCH POPPED UP ON MY DASH, AND IT LOST POWER. THE ACCELERATOR DID NOT WORK BUT THE CAR WAS STILL IDLING. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY LANE ON THE LEFT SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON IT WAS LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE ACCELERATOR WORKED AND THE WRENCH WAS GONE. HOWEVER, THIS HAVE SINCE HAPPENED TO BE TWO MORE TIMES AND LOWER SPEEDS. BOTH TIMES LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON EVERYTHING WORKED. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER DRIVERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
7/20/15-WHILE TRAVELING IN UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC, MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF CAUSING ME TO ENGAGE MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COAST IN NEUTRAL (IN A VERY HIGH TRAFFIC AREA) TO A NO PARKING ZONE. NO DIAGNOSTIC CODE APPEARED BUT THE WRENCH ICON APPEARED. I RAN AN ONBOARD SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS AND IT WAS CLEAR. CAR RESTARTED WHEN PUT IN NEUTRAL AND I THEN DROVE IT THE REST OF THE DAY. 7/21/15- APPROXIMATELY 110+ MILES SINCE THE PRIOR DAYS PROBLEM, THE CAR RAN FINE UNTIL THE EVENING WHEN I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND CLIMBING A GRADE AROUND A CURVE AND THE CAR JERKED AND SHUT OFF SHOWING THE WRENCH ICON AGAIN. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO COAST ONTO AND TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, AND PRAYED NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME CAUSING A COLLISION. AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS THE CAR RESTARTED IN THE PARK POSITION JUST AS A VAN SWERVED TO MISS ME IN THE NO PASSING ZONE WHERE THE CAR FAILED. IT WAS AFTER HOURS FOR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE CAR IS A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED VEHICLE WITH ADDITIONAL WARRANTY. I FILLED OUT THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM AND LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM UNTIL 7/28/15 AND AUTHORIZED ALLOWING A MECHANIC TO DRIVE IT HOME IF NEEDED AS NO DIAGNOSTIC CODE WAS GENERATED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AND THE CAR WAS THEN DROVE LESS THAN 40 MILES WHEN IT STOPPED RUNNING AGAIN 7/29/15 WITHOUT WARNING THE THIRD TIME. FORD CORPORATE HAS REFUSED TO MAKE REPAIRS WITHOUT A CODE AND THE DEALERSHIP DID AS WELL, HOWEVER, SINCE HAVING A FRUSTRATING CONVERSATION 7/29/15 WITH FORD, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AS I REQUESTED LAST WEEK AS THIS HAS RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR OTHER CONSUMERS.. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS NOTED MANY TIMES BY OTHER CONSUMERS. PLEASE HAVE FORD STAND BEHIND THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLE BEFORE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES. FAULTY "DOOR AJAR" WARNING DO TO POORLY DESIGNED LATCH ON DOOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH CARS FLYING BY. I PUT HAZARDS ON AND SLOWLY MOVED TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE CAR. I WAS VERY SCARED BEING STUCK ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE WITH VEHICLES GOING PAST ME AT 70 MILES AN HOUR AND I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND SLOWLY DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 30 MILES AN HOUR. THE DFFECTIVE PART THE DEALER SAID WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH IS A PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE FORD ESCAPE 2009-2013 AND ON THE 2009 - 2013 FORD FUSION 2009-2013 MERCURY MARINER 2009 -2013 MERCURY MILAN. MY CAR IS FORD EDGE 2013 , THE THROTTLE BODY PART IS AN OBVIOUS EXTENSIVE ISSUE WITH FORD.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE I SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION AND STALLED. I HAD TO GET IT REPLACED COSTING 800. IF CONDITIONS WOULD OF BEEN DIFFERENT, OTHERS TO INCLUDE MYSELF COULD OF GOTTEN HURT OR KILLED.
THE VEHICLE STALLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY. THE CHECK ENGINE WRENCH WAS ILLUMINATED. AFTER MANAGING TO FINALLY GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN RAN FINE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. EACH TIME I WENT TO THE DEALER BUT NO CODE WAS STORED IN THE COMPUTER. FINALLY THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT REPEATED. DEALER SAID IT WAS A KNOW PROBLEM WHICH IS WHY THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO STORED ENGINE CODE AFTER REPEATED INCIDENTS. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE!

IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON UNTIL A CERTAIN SPEED IS ATTAINED. ALSO DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON.
AT FIRST I NOTICED THAT EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER WAS PROPERLY SHUT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS STILL ON IT WAS FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL NOW THE INTERIORS LIGHTS NOW WON'T GO OFF WHEN I LEAVE THE CAR AND ACTIVATE THE ALAR.
SUBJECT: CRACK VEHICLE TIRES I BEEN IN TOUCH WITH MIDWAY FORD IN MIAMI WHERE I BOUGHT THE FORD EDGE 2013 0 MILES SINCE JULY 2015 IN OTHER TO RESOLVE THE CRACK PIRELLI TIRES COMES WITH MY VEHICLE. AT 1:30PM AN HE OFFER ME A PRORATED CHARGE OF $711.14 TO REPLACE THE TIRES, I CALLED [XXX] TO EXPLAIN THAT MY CAR HAVE ONLY 5600 MILES AND HE RESPONDED TO ME, THAT IS THE ADJUSTMENT BECAUSE IF THE TIRES WERE CLEANED BY ANY PRODUCT SOLD ON THE AUTO PARTS IN US, THAT IS THE CAUSE OF TIRES CRACK. WHEN ALL THE CAR DOORS ARE PROPERLY CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON NUMEROUS TIMES, AND THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED, CAUSING THE DOORS NOT TO LOCK.

THE CAR ALWAYS SAYS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS AJAR AND THE SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE SHOWS UP ON THE DASH ALONG WITH THE ENGINE ON MESSAGE. NONE OF THESE MESSAGES GO AWAY. ITS ALWAYS DINGING BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS DONT WORK. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME I TAKE THIS TO THE GARAGE FOR THE SAME THING. I UNDERSTAND ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEM PROPERLY.

AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES (20+) OF OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR, IT WILL SOMETIMES FINALLY CLOSE TO STOP SHOWING AJAR AND LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IF DRIVING AT NIGHT AS I'VE EXPERIENCED ALREADY ONCE WITH MY DOOR NOT WILLING TO CLOSE PROPERLY AT NIGHT, AND HAVING TO DRIVE WITH ALL DOME LIGHTS ON (HUGE ISSUE). WENT TO A FORD DEALER THAT SAYS THEY WILL RUN A DIAGNOSTICS TEST TO SEE WHAT'S WRONG, BUT THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ALREADY ON-LINE OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THIS STILL HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD FOR A RECALL. MANY ARE SAYING THE COSTS ARE FROM $250-$500 FOR REPAIRS TO GET IT FIXED. FOR A 2 YEAR OLD CAR, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!

THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH AND A HALF. MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING OR SPEED. WHEN I RESTART MY CAR, IT TURNS ON. THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR OTHER NOTIFICATIONS UNTIL TODAY WHEN IT HAPPENED FOR THE FOURTH TIME AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR CAME ON AND IN THE INDICATOR BOX A WRENCH IS NOW DISPLAYED. THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO TRAFFIC WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE SECOND INCIDENT I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. THE THIRD INCIDENT I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN AND THIS FINAL INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND IN TRAFFIC, THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN. IN ALL INSTANCES THE CAR STARTED BACK UP BUT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN ANY INSTANCE THAT I WAS GOING FASTER OR CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, I FEAR I WOULD BE KILLED OR INJURED. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME COMPLAINT AND I JUST FEAR THAT SOMEONE WILL DIE FROM THIS.

WHILE VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY ON JULY 1, 2015 TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR DOOR AJAR LIGHT NOT GOING OFF. ON 12/7/2015 TOOK IT IN AGAIN BUT HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE SINCE THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY/MILEAGE HAD EXPIRED. FIRST THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE OVER NIGHT TO FIX BUT THE SECOND TIME THEY STATED THAT I HAD TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE FOR A DOOR LATCH. I ASKED THE REP SEVERAL TIMES WHAT WAS DONE BEFORE AND WHY THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THE WORKMANSHIP DID NOT LAST AND SHE STATED I'LL HAVE TO SEE BUT NEVER GAVE ANY INFORMATION WHEN I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP. FORD SHOULD RECALL FOR DOOR AJAR PROBLEMS AND I SHOULD GET MY DEDUCTIBLE BACK.

THE CONTACT WAS REIMBURSED FOR THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR LATCH REPAIR HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A DEFECT TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. WOKE UP SUN MORNING OPENED BASEMENT DOOR SMELLED THE ODOR OF GASOLINE OPENED DOOR TO GARAGE HEAVY ODOR OF GASOLINE REMOVED CAR FROM GARAGE SAW DRIPPING OF GASOLINE FROM GAS TANK CALLED FIRE DEPT THEY CAME PUT DOWN GASOLINE ABSORBENT AND SAID SMALL LEEK COMING FROM GAS TANK NOTHING THEY CAN DO TOLD TO CALL TOWING AND REMOVE CAR MON AAA REMOVED CAR AND TOOK TO FORD DEALER WEISLANDER FORD IN POINT PLEASANT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A HOLE IN THE GAS TANK AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROX. $5000 TO HAVE IT FIXED AND IT WOULD TAKE 4 MONTHS BEFORE THEY WOULD RECEIVE THE TANK FROM A FRIEND I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2012 & 2013 FORD EDGE GAS TANKS I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT VIN# WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND THE HOLE WAS CAUSED BY ME MY WIFE WHO DRIVES THIS CAR SAID SHE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IF YOU HIT AN OBJECT ON THE ROAD YOU WOULD ONLY GET A SMALL DRIP FROM THE GAS TANK
ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR ALERT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. WHEN I COULD DO SO, I OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR. THE ALERT REMAINED ON. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID IT'S THE DOOR AJAR LATCH ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED AND THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM. IT COULD BE FIXED FOR $500. I SAID NO THANK YOU. IT WOULD TAKE ME 5+ TIME OF SLAMMING THE DOOR CLOSED TO GET THE ALERT TO GO OFF. ONCE I WOULD GET THE ALERT OFF, I WOULD ACCESS MY CAR VIA THE PASSENGER SIDE. EVENTUALLY THAT HAS STOPPING WORKING AND THE DOOR AJAR ALERT IS ON CONSTANTLY. WHILE DRIVING, THIS BRINGS UP A "SHIFT TO PARK" ALERT EVERY TIME I CAN TO A STOP. IN ADDITION TO THAT, NOW WHILE DRIVING AND I LOCK THE DOORS FROM INSIDE THE CAR, THEY LOCK AND THEN IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK. ALL 4 DOORS. FURIOUS WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT.

FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS MY CAR IS INDICATING THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. IT NOTIFIES ME CONSTANTLY USING LIGHTS AND DINGING WHICH IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. EVERY TIME YOU TURN ON THE CAR OR STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED IT STARTS DINGING. WHEN BACKING UP IT IS DINGING MAKING IT HARD TO DISTINGUISH WHETHER THERE IS AN OBJECT IN THE PATH. IT ALSO KEEPS THE DOME LIGHT FROM GOING OFF WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL WHICH COST $162 TO REPLACE. ADDITIONALLY, THE FIRST TIME I PAID $120 TO HAVE IT FIXED AT THE DEALER. 'WHEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED BY FORD. A SMALL INEXPENSIVE PLASTIC PIECE WHICH AN EXPERIENCED MECHANIC SHOULD BE ABLE TO REPLACE IN 15 MINUTES. "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN" AND "HOW FAST WERE YOU GOING" DOES NOT FIT INTO A SINGLE DATE OR SPEED; THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF WHICH CAN BE A DRIVING HAZARD AND WILL ALSO DRAIN THE BATTERY. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AT ABOUT 47,000 MILES AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER IN JUNE 2015. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I HAD TO PAY $107 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THEM TO CLEAN THE SWITCH. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AGAIN IN MARCH 2016.

IT HAPPENS EVEN WHEN SOME ONE IS EXITING THE PASSENGER DOOR AND THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR AJAR MESSAGE WILL SHOW UP. ENGINE ON MESSAGE ALSO SHOWS UP. YOU CAN CLICK THE OK FOR BOTH MESSAGES BUT THE DOORS DON'T AUTOLOCK WHEN YOU DRIVE. ALSO THE DOME LIGHTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE TAKES A LONG TIME TO SHUT OFF. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF WHEN YOU SHUT OFF THE CAR BUT THE INSIDE LIGHTS STAYS ON. SOMETIMES I WILL TURN THE CAR BACK ON SO THEY SHUT OFF.
