I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD EDGE WHEN I WENT TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH. THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO STOP, IT SLOWED BUT KEPT ROLLING FORWARD WHILE I WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKES. IT DID IT AGAIN WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PARK AT A RESTAURANT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STUCK AND I KEPT ROLLING FORWARD TILL THE PEDAL GAVE AND SUNK TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE CAR FINALLY JERKED TO A STOP. AFTER THOSE 2 INCIDENTS MY HUSBAND DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN, WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT HE ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE DEALER TESTED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THE BRAKES WERE GOING BAD, ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULDN'T STOP MY CAR, I'M REALLY CORNERED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND THAT I MAY END UP IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH WILL NOT SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR WAS PROPERLY CLOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2013 FORD EDGE SPORT WITH APPROX 13,500 MILES HAS BEEN DOING THIS NOW FOR ABOUT 2 PLUS MONTHS. WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO PARK AND THEN TURN CAR OFF, IT WILL BEEP AND SAY ON DASH, "SHIFT TO PARK". THE CAR IS IN PARK. IF YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS TO START CAR AGAIN, PUT IN DRIVE AND THEN ALMOST SLAM THE SHIFTER INTO PARK AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WILL TAKE 2 OR 3 TIMES BEFORE IT WON'T DO THIS. I HAVE DOUBLE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THERE ISN'T ANYTHING IN THE WAY AND THERE IS NOT. VERY FRUSTRATING. OF COURSE IT DOESN'T DO THIS EVERY TIME, SO I HAVE IT ON VIDEO. GRRRR!!
MY CAR ALWAYS SHOW THAT HAS THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN WHEN ITS CLOSE
THE DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON THE DASH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. THE DOOR NEEDS TO BE SLAMMED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE LIGHT EXTINGUISHES, BUT SOMETIMES WILL NOT GO OUT AT ALL. THIS LEAVES DRIVER WITH AN INSECURE FEELING THE CAR DOOR IS NOT SECURELY CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WIDESPREAD ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE FROM WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET.

2013 EDGE DRIVERS DOOR ALARM REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER CLOSURE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK. I'M LUCKY IF AFTER THE 6-7TH DOOR SLAM THE LIGHT MAY GO OUT, OTHERWISE I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE ALARM CONTINUOUSLY ON. NOW A SHIFT INTO PARK LIGHT IS ALSO COMING ON. USED TO LOVE MY EDGE, BUT SLOWLY THINKING DIVORCE.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT. IT'S BLINDING AT NIGHT DUE TO THE FACT IT LEAVES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS ON CAUSING YOU NOT TO SEE OUTSIDE AND UNSAFE DRIVING WITH UNLOCKED DOORS WITH KIDS
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD EDGE 2013 ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE LOST IT'S POWER TO IDLE, LUCKILY I WAS IN A RURAL ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR IN THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IN THE FRONT PANEL A YELLOW WRENCH SYMBOL WITH NO MESSAGE APPEARS, I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND WAIT ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN I STARTED IT BACK AGAIN AND CONTINUE MY WAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM, THE NEXT DAY (YESTERDAY NIGHT) I EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THIS TIME ENTERING IN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED ABOUT 55 MPH WITH THE SAME RESULTS AS THE DAY BEFORE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST TUESDAY.
THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT AND BELL STAYS ON AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT. THIS HAPPENED ON MY EDGE IN JANUARY 2015. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER, AND FIRST THEY ADJUSTED THE DOOR LATCH. THAT ONLY LASTED A COUPLE OF MONTHS. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK, THE DEALER SAID THAT FORD TOLD THEM THE LATCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE BILL TO REPLACE THE LATCH WAS $132.08, WHICH I PAID. THAT FIXED MY PROBLEM. I SAW ON THE NEWS TODAY THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM YOU ARE INVESTIGATING, AND I WANTED YOU TO KNOW MY SITUATION.

DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED WHICH KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON AND PROHIBITS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES SAFETY ISSUES THROUGH THE DISTRACTION OF HAVING THE INTERIOR LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON AND THE DOORS NOT LOCKING. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, I'VE NOTICED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR MY TYPE OF VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT AT THIS POINT.
DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SAY THE DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENED WHEN GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE CAR. TODAY IT SAID THE DOOR WAS AJAR RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION, DOME LIGHTS AND MIRROR LIGHTS STAY ON. COMES ON WHEN DRIVING. DONT ALWAYS KNOW IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED PROPERLY OR NOT. TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY TEMPORILY STOPPED IT, THEN IT STARTED AGAIN.
FORD EDGE LATCH DOOR AJAR, DOME LIGHTS STAY ON NIGHT DRIVER HAZARD
THE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR IS SHUT. AT FIRST I COULD OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR (SOMETIMES NUMEROUS TIMES) AND IT WOULD GO OFF. NOW IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE OVERHEAD LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL AND REPAIR.
DOOR AJAR ALERT ON DASH BOARD REMAINS LIT. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON, THE CAR TO "THINK" THE DOORS ARE NOT ALL CLOSED, AND ISSUES WITH LOCKING THE CAR DOORS. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE AT NIGHT THE DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON. THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THE LIGHTS TO TURN OFF UNTIL THEY AUTOMATICALLY DIM AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES OF ACTIVE DRIVING. DOME LIGHTS WILL ALWAYS REMAIN ON WHEN IN REVERSE. SEEMS TO BE A GUARANTEED PROBLEM IN ALL FORD EDGE'S, VERY FRUSTRATING. HOPING THIS HELPS TO GET A RECALL AS IT'S QUITE COSTLY TO GET REPAIRED.
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR IS HIGHLIGHTED. DEALER TELLS ME NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED OR FACTORY WARRANTY. TELL ME DOOR LATCH NEEDS REPLACEMENT. WHEN I GOOGLE KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD EDGE GUESS WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE RESULT? DOOR LATCH. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE?
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON. MAYBE SEVERAL TIMES OF CLOSING IT REAL HARD TURNS IT OFF L. WILL EVEN ILLUMINATE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING.

IN ADDITION, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WE GOT IN THE CAR TO LEAVE WORK AND, IN THE PARKING LOT, NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES HAD GONE COMPLETELY SOFT. THERE WAS A SLOW HISS WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A SHOP THE NEXT DAY BUT IT TOOK A LOT OF PRESSURE, PUTTING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS CONDITION CAME ON SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING.
DRIVER DOOR AGAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. I HAVE TO REPETITIVELY SLAM MY DOOR FIFTEEN TO TWENTY TIMES FOR LIGHT TO GO OFF. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE INSIDE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND IT IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES AND I VOICED MY CONCERN TO THEM AND TOLD THEM THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE AT FORD'S EXPENSE NOT OWNERS EXPENSE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID TO SAVE MY RECEIPT IF THERE IS AN UPCOMING RECALL.
THE BRAKE FLUID LINE ON THE REAR BRAKES WAS NOT ALLOWING BRAKE FLUID THROUGH THEREFORE CAUSING THE REAR BRAKE PADS TO CONTINUALLY STAY ENGAGED. THE OUTER RIM OF BOTH REAR ROTORS WAS COMPLETELY CHARRED AND BURNT RED ALONG WITH THE SURFACE OF THE ROTOR BEING COMPLETELY WORN AND GOUGED. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT I WAS LUCKY THEY DID NOT START A FIRE FROM RUNNING SO HOT. THE REAR ROTORS, PADS AND BRAKE FLUID LINES ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED.
THE TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW WAY TO OFTEN.IT SEEMS THE TIRES AREN'T HOLDING AIR.I AIR THEM UP BUT IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW WEEKS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT ALWAYS STAYS ON AND AT TIMES DOORS DON'T LOCK.
VEHICLE DOOR LOCK SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING INCORRECTLY CREATING DRIVING AND SAFETY HAZARDS, BELIEVES DOOR IS AJAR WHEN COMPLETELY CLOSED. VEHICLE ASKS YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT CREATING A GLARE. DOORS DO NOT AUTO LOCK WHEN DRIVING WHICH IF A CHILD GRABBED A HANDLE, THEY COULD POTENTIALLY BE THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE. SECURITY OF THE VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED WITH THIS ISSUE, AS WELL AS A TENDENCY TO DRAIN THE BATTERY, CREATING ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES DUE TO FREQUENTLY NEEDING TO PURCHASE / CHANGE REPLACEMENT BATTERY.
THE SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILED TO DETECT THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED IN ORDER TO LOCK THE DOORS. NEED TO SLAM DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO ATTEMPT TO ACTIVATE SENSOR. SOMETIMES WORKS, SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHILE DOOR IS PARKED (DRAINING BATTERY) OR WHILE DRIVING, WHICH IS A SAFETY DISTRACTION AT NIGHT. DOORS DO NOT LOCK AND WHEN TRYING TO MANUALLY LOCK, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS ALL DOORS - VERY UNSAFE WITH CHILDREN OR ELDERLY IN VEHICLE. FORD WARRANTY EXPIRES AT THE LOW MILEAGE OF 36,000 MILES, SO THEY WILL NOT FIX WITHOUT SPENDING $450.00. THE FORD WARRANTY IS VERY POOR COMPARED TO ALL OTHER VEHICLES. UPDATED 09/03/15*LJ

2013 FORD EDGE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR REMAINS AJAR, I CLOSE THE DOOR MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR THE INSIDE LIGHT TO TURN OFF. WHILE DRIVING THE SENSOR WILL TURN ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHEN INSIDE FAULTY LATCH
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS COMING ON EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD THIS IN FOR SERVICE TWICE. FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL, BUT THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN MANY VEHICLES. WHEN I TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY KNOW THE CODES TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT LOOKING THEM UP IN THE COMPUTER. THE DEALER SAID THEY CAN ONLY CLEAN THE SENSOR AND NOT REPLACE THE LATCH BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A RECALL
ON Y 2013 FORD EDGE SEL AWD WITH 36,600 MILES THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED. THIS CAUSES A NUMBER OF ISSUES: THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDS WHEN CAR STARTS IN MOTION, WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC; DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED, WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN; INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS LIT AT NIGHT WHEN FIRST STARTING IN MOTION, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS HOPING THAT THE ISSUE, WHICH OBVIOUSLY IS A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN DEFECT, WOULD BE COVERED IN A RECALL NOTICE. SO FAR IT HAS NOT AND I HESITATE TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED $ FOR A DEALER "FIX" THAT DOES NOT REALLY RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.I HAVE READ THAT THE COST (PARTS & LABOR) IS IN THE $400.00. OF COURSE THIS PROBLEM COMES UP JUST AS THE VEHICLE GOES OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE
DOOR AJAR SENSOR. IT STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES. IT KILLS MY CAR BATTERY AND NOW IM ON MY 2ND NEW BATTERY. I CANT BACK UP OR DRIVE SAFE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON. I CANT LOCK MY DOORS WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED BECAUSE IT SAYS DOOR AJAR.
A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED DOWN AND WHEN I WENT TO TAKE MY FOOT OF THE GAS MY TENNIS SHOE GOT CAUGHT ON THE PLASTIC TRIM ON THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEXT TO THE GAS PEDAL.. I HAD TO PULL HARD TO GET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE EDGES HAD THE TRIM AND THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN MY LEG WAS RESTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE GAS PEDAL. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE ILLINOIS FREEWAY. THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED DOWN AND BY THE TIME I GOT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME. I THINK FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO MODIFY THE TRIM IN THAT AREA. *TR
A CONSTANT DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALERT WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR. WILL TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL GET THE SAME ALERT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF BECAUSE OF THE MESSAGE. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE DRIVER WILL NOT KNOW IF THEIR DOOR IS AJAR OR NOT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL REMAIN ON AND THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO WEAR OUT MUCH FASTER THAN NORMAL AND CAN CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER AT NIGHT. *TR

THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM STARTED GOING OFF, AND THE DOORS UNLOCKED WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING ON THE INTERSTATE. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BOTH WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WHEN GETTING IN THE VEHICLE. NOW, THE DOME LIGHT AND OUTSIDE MARKER LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK BECAUSE THE SENSOR ISN'T READING THAT THE DOORS ARE CLOSED.
THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR IS FAULTY RESULTING IN THE DOOR AJAR ALERT STAYING ON CONSTANTLY, EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO BE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A LONG TIME AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF DUE TO SENSOR ISSUE, THUS DRAINING THE BATTERY.
CAR DOOR IS CLOSED BUT THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES ON AND ALSO DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AS I DRIVE WITH A CHILD AND IT IS HARD TO SEE WHEN THE CAR INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AT NIGHT WHILE I AM DRIVING BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR.
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON EVEN WHEN MY DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. SOME TIMES I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT SEVERAL TIMES AND ALMOST SLAM IT SHUT TO GET THE SENSOR TO GO OFF..
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR KEEPS STATING IT IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. CONTINUES TO STAY ON UNTIL MULTIPLE CLOSURES OF THE DOOR, THEN WILL COME BACK ON WHEN AT LOW SPPED OR COMES TO A STOP.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR KEEPS STAYING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT ALL THE WAY. IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR TO GET IT TO GO OFF. WHILE THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS ON YOU CAN NOT LOCK YOUR DOORS WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BECAUSE OF THIS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT IT IS EASY FOR ANYONE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND BE ATTACHED OR CAR JACKED. IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL THE LIGHT CAN STAY ON FOR HOURS AND DRAIN YOUR BATTERY. I AM SURE NOTHING WILL GET DONE ABOUT THIS UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED OR ATTACHED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. ITS A SHAME!!!
