DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAILING. EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED AND LOCKED, THE DASH REPORTS THE DOOR IS AJAR. CAUSES DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON, CHIMES TO SOUND, AND DRAINS BATTERY. CLEANING AND OILING WITH SILICON SPRAY HELPS SOME, BUT IS A TEMPORARY FIX AT BEST. FORD DEALER WANTS OVER $600 TO REPLACE LATCH ASSEMBLY. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR CENSOR IS BAD. FORD HAS KNOWN OF THE PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. WHEN YOU SHUT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THE DASH LIGHT INDICATES THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN SO YOU CLOSE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. IVE GOOGLED IT AND FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT I GUESS THEY RATHER YOU SPEND 500 DOLLARS TO GET IT FIXED THEN DO A RECALL. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME SHUTTING THE DOOR AND RESHUTTING THE DOOR OVER AND OVER TO GET THE LIGHT TO GO OUT AND TO GET IT TO STOP DINGING IVE READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON LINE AND STILL FORD DOES NOTHING WHY DONT THEY HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS PROBLEM BEFORE YOU BUY THE VEHICLE ISNT THAT FRAUD. IF YOU KNOW OF A PROBLEM YOU HAVE TO DISCLOSE IT. YOU DO WHEN YOURE SELLING AND BUYING A HOUSE!!!!
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DOOR DOES NOT 'KNOW' IT IS CLOSED. SOMETIMES SLAMMING IT WORKS, SOMETIMES NOT. DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND THE FIX IS VERY EXPENSIVE. MANY MECHANICS THINK IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRONIC PANEL FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE LIFTGATE FAILED TO REMAIN CLOSED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS RANDOMLY FAILED TO REMAIN CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE SENSORS WERE CLEANED. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS SHUT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. IN ADDITION, EACH TIME YOU STOP AND RESUME DRIVING THE CHIMES DING WHICH DISTRACT DRIVER. IF YOU DO NOT NOTICE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN YOU LOCK YOUR CAR, BATTERY WILL BE DEAD WHEN YOU RETURN. IN ADDITION TO A INCREASED POSSIBILITY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT THIS DEFECT ALSO SUBJECTS YOU TO BEING VICTIM OF A CRIME WHEN YOU RETURN TO A STRANDED VEHICLE AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE TO ARRIVE.
THE SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO DETECT DOOR CLOSURE MALFUNCTIONS REPEATEDLY AND DOES NOT REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED EVEN IF THE DOOR LATCH IS IN PROPER POSITION. THIS CREATES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD IN THAT THE DOORS CANNOT BE FULLY LOCKED (SIGNIFICANT CRASH SAFETY RISK) WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT (PERSONAL SECURITY RISK, REMAINS ABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM THE EXTERIOR). THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM AND FROM ENCOUNTERS WITH OTHER OWNERS, THIS IS CONSISTENT ACROSS THESE VEHICLES AND RECURS EVEN IF THE PART IF REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 FORD EDGE LOST ALL POWER IN A TURN. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, THE LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD A HARD TIME STEERING THE CAR DUE TO THE LOST OF POWER AND THE CAR STILL IN DRIVE. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME. UPON READING SEVERAL FORUMS ON THIS PROBLEM I FIND THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AS IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, A FATAL ACCIDENT? I'LL BE TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALER SINCE I DRIVE IN TRAFFIC EVERY DAY AND I CAN'T AFFORD THIS TO HAPPEN IN THAT CONDITION, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DEALER WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM AS PER PREVIOUS POSTS INDICATE SUCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD THE VEHICLE RUN OVER SOMETHING THAT LEFT DEBRIS IN THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SHIELD COVER DISLODGED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.

DRIVER DOOR LATCH FAILURE. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND WARNING BEEP.
MY 2013 EDGE IS NEW WITHIN THE PAST 2 YEARS AND IT IS CURRENTLY UNDER LEASE. THE DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION IS BEING TRIGGERED CONSTANTLY WHICH IN TURN AFFECTS OTHER MECHANISMS OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN THE CAR. THE INABILITY FOR THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO CLOSE TRIGGERS CAB LIGHTS, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHTS, AND THE LOCKING OF DOORS. THESE ISSUES CAN OCCUR WHILE STATIONARY/PARKING AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING...AT NIGHT AND DURING THE DAY. THE CAB LIGHT BEING ON AT NIGHT IS THE MOST DANGEROUS FROM A DRIVING STANDPOINT, BECAUSE IT AFFECTS VISIBILITY TO A POINT OF WANTING TO TRY AND OPEN AND SHUT IT AT HIGH SPEEDS. I DON'T KNOW IF HAVING THE CAB LIGHT ON WHILE IT IS PARKED IS ENOUGH TO DRAIN THE BATTERY OR EVEN HOW LONG THE CAB LIGHT EVEN STAYS ON, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I'M GOING TO PROBABLY LEARN THIS THE HARD WAY AND BE STRANDED. ALSO, THERE IS DEFINITELY A RISK OF HAVING ITEMS STOLEN FROM MY CAR. *TR
DOOR LATCH SENSOR WON'T REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS MEANS THE DOME LIGHT STAYS AND IS UNSAFE FOR NIGHT DRIVING.
THIS IS A 2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED W/V6 ENGINE. WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, THE ENGINE GOES TO A ROUGH IDLE, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND THERE IS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER SHUTTING EVERYTHING DOWN, THE ENGINE WILL FINALLY RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND RUN NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, THE LAST TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR REPAIR. SO FAR, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED, A SENSOR WAS REPLACED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED AND SOME WIRING WAS REPLACED. THE LAST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AFTER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I SUBSEQUENTLY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, IT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I THEN CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER. THE FORD REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER ASSIGNED TO THE CASE FINALLY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER THEY COULD DO AND I SHOULD COME AND PICK UP THE VEHICLE.
DRIVING DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU CAN'T LOCK THE DOORS AND THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO OCCUPANTS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. THE LIGHTS ON IS A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THE FALSE DOOR AJAR WARNING COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO DISREGARD A TRUE DOOR AJAR WARNING. *TR
THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR INDICATES THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED AND WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE DOOR IS REPEATEDLY SLAMMED. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AND THE ELECTRONIC CHIME WILL CONTINUE TO SOUND UNTIL THE SENSOR IS ACKNOWLEDGED OR THE DOOR IS SLAMMED UNTIL THE SENSOR TURNS OFF. *TR

DOOR ADJAR SWITCH DOESN'T WORK. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON DRAINING THE BATTERY, CANNOT LOCK DOORS ANYTHING! THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
BAD FUNCTION DOOR SENSOR, DASHBOARD SHOWS OPEN DRIVER DOOR, EVEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. IT HAPPENS ALL TIME
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR COMES ON ANYTIME THE DOOR IS OPEN AND THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. BEFORE THE ABOVE DATE THE SENSOR WENT OFF AS SOON AS YOU SHUT THE DOOR. NOW IT IS ON ALL THE TIME UNLESS I OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR 5 - 20 TIMES TO GET IT TO GO OFF. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS WITH IT ON. THE DOME LIGHT WON'T GO OFF AND MANY TIMES I AM FORCED TO DRIVE TO WORK WITH IT STILL ON BECAUSE I CAN'T BE LATE FOR WORK SITTING AT HOME OPENING AND CLOSING MY DOOR OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MY SON HAS A 2011 FORD EDGE AND MY FRIEND HAS A 2006 FORD EDGE ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO GO ON BEFORE SOMEONE MAKES FORD FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR EVERYONE?! *TR

MY LEFT REAR DOOR STAYS AJAR WHICH KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON WHICH KILLS MY BATTERY. ALSO WHEN I'M IN PARK MY DRIVE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNS OFF AND ON. AS A FORD CUSTOMER I WISH THEY WOULD RECALL THESE DEFECTS SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. *TR
THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR SWITCH GIVES FALSE AJAR INDICATIONS. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHICH IS A NIGHT TIME DRIVING SAFETY HAZARD. THE FALSE READING PREVENTS THE DRIVER FOR SEEING ANY VALID AJAR SITUATIONS. WITH THE DOME LIGHTS ON, CREATES AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENTS WHEN SITTING IN THE CAR AT NIGHT IN A PUBLIC AREA. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN SITTING IN THE CAR. *JS
AFTER ENTERING VEHICLE AND SECURELY CLOSING DRIVER DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS NOT LATCHED. OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES USUALLY WILL EVENTUALLY RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL TRIGGER WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TWICE WHEN ROLLING UP THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOWS AS THE WINDOW JUST REACHES THE CLOSED POSITION. *TR

DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING TONES REMAIN ON WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON. DOORS CAN NOT BE LOCKED PROPERLY...
THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS INVOLVING LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC. I DO NOT HAVE THE DATE OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, BUT IT WAS APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH BEFORE THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. BOTH TIMES, AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT HAD NO POWER AND I DRIFTED TO A STOP. THE WARNING MESSAGE LIGHT WAS A PICTURE OF A WRENCH. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ON A TWO-LANE ROAD WITH DEEP DITCHES ON BOTH SIDES, AND THERE WAS NO OTHER PLACE TO STOP BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY, CARS BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS ACCELERATING UP A HILL ON A FOUR-LANE ROAD WITH MIDDLE TURN LANE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE TURN LANE AND STOP THERE. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR BOTH TIMES, POWER WAS RESTORED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, WE TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP THE FOLLOWING DAY. THERE WERE NO CODES, BUT FROM THE WARNING LIGHT, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. ON THE SECOND OCCURRENCE, MY HUSBAND AND I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY WERE ABLE TO READ A CODE AND IT WAS TROUBLE CODE P2111, THROTTLE ACTUATOR "A" CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. THE FORD DEALER INDICATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES. BOTH TIMES, IT WAS A FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE INVOLVED INJURIES, IF THE CAR(S) FOLLOWING REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE. *TR
THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS HAVE THE CHROME-PLATING PEELING AWAY. VERY SHARP EDGES WHERE PEELING. SOME WHEELS WORSE THAN ANOTHER. *TR
DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. WARNING SOUND COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON REPEATEDLY WHEN DOOR IS CORRECTLY SHUT. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS DAILY. DUE TO THE FALSE DOOR AJAR WARNING, THE VEHICLE MAY BE DRIVEN WITH THE DOOR AJAR WARNING ON. IF THE DOOR WERE ACTUALLY AJAR, THIS COULD CAUSE A SAFETY RISK. VEHICLE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED WHEN DOOR AJAR WARNING IS PRESENT. THIS COULD PRESENT A SAFETY RISK IF DOORS NEED TO BE LOCKED. *TR
DOOR AJAR SIGN COMES ON DUE TO SENSOR FAILURE ON DRIVER DOOR WHICH TURNS LIGHTS ON IN VEHICLE AND "SHIFT TO PARK" NOTICE COMES UP WHILE DRIVING.
DOOR AJAR WARNING (ON SCREEN AS WELL AS REPEATED BELL NOISE) CAME ON WHILE I WAS ON A 2 LANE ROAD WITH NO SHOULDERS AVAILABLE DUE TO SNOW ALONGSIDE ROAD. I WAS FORCED TO STOP IN MIDDLE OF ROAD TO OPEN AND CLOSE DOOR REPEATEDLY TO TURN OFF DOOR AJAR. IT FELT LIKE DOOR WAS CLOSED BUT SENSOR KEPT INDICATING IT WAS OPEN. PROBLEM ABATED FOR A FEW DAYS BUT HAS COME BACK NOW. *TR
AS WITH MANY OTHER EDGE OWNERS, THE DOOR SENSOR CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. NUMEROUS INCIDENTS ARE REPORTED AND DISCUSSED ONLINE. THE "DOOR OPEN" INDICATOR LIGHTS UP, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND THE ALARM CANNOT BE ACTIVATED. MY DEALER FIRST WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO REPAIR; THEN, REPAIRED IT AT NO COST, AFTER I WROTE A LETTER TO THE SENIOR VP AND SERVICE MANAGER. THIS WAS ON 1/5/15; WHEN THE TECH REPORTEDLY CLEANED THE SENSOR. NOW, IT'S ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS LATER AND THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED AGAIN AND LIKE MANY OTHERS, I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER. PLEASE HELP ME AND THE MANY OTHER UNHAPPY AND CONCERNED OWNERS.
DOOR AJAR WARNING IS PRESENT WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE CLOSE THE DOOR, THE LIGHT STAYS ON. WE ARE ABLE TO BOTH PARK AND DRIVE WITH THIS ALARM ON BUT THE CABIN LIGHTS STAY ON THE ENTIRE TIME. WE EXPERIENCED THE FIRST ISSUE IN JANUARY 2015 AND THE FORD FULLER DEALERSHIP IN CHULA VISTA, CA REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. JULY 2016, THE SAME WARNING WAS APPEARING ON THE DASH BOARD WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT, AND HAD THE FIRST REPAIR DONE, AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THEIR FAULTY WORK. THEY STATED THAT SINCE OUR 3 YEAR WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THE ISSUE WOULD NO LONGER BE COVERED, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THEY "FIXED" THE ISSUE WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY GUARANTEE THEIR REPAIRS FOR 2 YEARS. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE OUR DOOR LATCH AGAIN AS WELL AS A NEW BATTERY FOR THIS ISSUE. WE HOPE A RECALL IS MADE SOON BECAUSE THIS IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL AND PRICEY.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH THIS ON WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND THE ALERT CHIME SOUNDS. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ AND FORD NOT TAKING CARE OF THE COST TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR/SWITCH IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND SHOWS THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS OPEN/AJAR WHEN IT IS SECURELY CLOSED. WHEN THE CAR "THINKS" THE DOOR IS AJAR THE DOME LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, EVEN WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE AND EVEN UNLOCK WHEN THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH IS USED. IN ADDITION, EVERY TIME THE CAR COMES TO A STOP THE ALERT CHIMES THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN HAVING TO DRIVE TO MY WORK IN AN URBAN AREA (NOT SAFELY LOCKED IN MY CAR) IN ADDITION, IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH CHILDREN WHO MAY BE ABLE TO REACH THE DOOR HANDLE. *TR
WHEN CLOSING DRIVERS DOOR INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WILL NOT SHUT OFF AFTER REPEATED TRYS TO RECLOSE DOOR. ALSO DOOR AJAR LIGHT IN DASH REMAINS ON. CANNOT TRUST WARNING DISPLAY IF DOOR IS PROPERLY SHUT. HAVE HAD PROBLEM CHECKED AND TOLD THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. HAPPENS 90% OF THE TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR WOULD CHIME AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUNSET FORD (11700 GRAVOIS RD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63127, (314) 472-7109) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO START THE VEHICLE AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF TO RESET THE INTERIOR LIGHTING TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS SHUT. THIS IS CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON DURING THE NIGHT TIME AND THE DOORS CANNOT LOCK. MY CHILD IS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE MOVING CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WHEN WE TOOK IT IN AND KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECT, BUT WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOME LIGHT INSIDE THE VEHICLE REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND LOCKED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ALARM SOUNDED AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR SENSOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SWITCH MECHANISM INSIDE THE DOOR FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED, BUT RECURRED AFTER SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO AGAIN DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE SWITCH MECHANISM. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,797.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON I N DRIVER DOOR ALMOST EVERYTIME YOU SHUT THE DOOR NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU SLAM IT. IT TAKES SEVERAL TIMES FOR B THE SIGNAL TO GO OFF. THIS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY AND ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON MAKING IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. ALSO THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK IF THE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL IS TURNED ON. DRIVER DOOR SENSORY LIGHT "DOOR AJAR." DOOR IS ALWAYS SHUT WHEN IT TRIPS & EVEN PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD. IT'S BEEN CLEANED REPEATEDLY, SUPPOSEDLY FIXED AT LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ONCE A FEW MONTHS BACK, & DOING IT AGAIN. CLEANING HASN'T WORKED THIS ROUND EITHER.
