ALL THE CAR SENSORS HAVE GONE OUT IT SAYS THE DOORS ARE OPEN AT ALL TIME EVEN WHEN CLOSED TIGHTLY THE LIGHTS COME ON AND GO OFF ON THEIR OWN WHEN IT'S PARKED AND THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT POPS ON AND OFF THE AIR PRESSURE LIGHT STAYS ON THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF THE BACK UP CAMERA HARDLY EVER WORKS. THE HEAD LIGHTS HAVE DROPPED DOWN AND ONLY SHINE OUT ABOUT A 15 FEET AHEAD OF YOU WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK 6:30 AM SMALL INCLINE AND VEHICLE JERKED AND STOPPED ,I PUT IT INTO PARK PUSHED THE RED OK BUTTON RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND FIXED IT AND CHANGED THE CODES THE THROTTLE WAS OUT OF RANGE. *TR
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHILE GOING UP AN INCLINE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AT THE TOP (LOST ALL POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING) AND THE "ENGINE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON". TURNED THE KEY OFF WAITED A MINUTE AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL YESTERDAY 7/5/14 WHILE DRIVING (25MPH) ON LOCAL STREET (LEVEL) THE SAME THING HAPPENED CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING HAD TO STEP ON BRAKE UNTIL CAR WOULD STOP (LOST ALL POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING) AND "ENGINE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON". TURNED KEY OFF AND WAITED A MINUTE AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. DID NOT BRING TO DEALERSHIP FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT WILL THIS TIME. DEFINITELY A SAFETY CONCERN IF THIS HAPPENS ON A HIGHWAY GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR UPDATED 1/28/2015*JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE FOR THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOORS WOULD DISPLAY ALTHOUGH THE DOORS WERE COMPLETELY SECURED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND CLOSING THE DOORS, THE BATTERY WOULD BECOME DRAINED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE DOOR SWITCHES WERE CLEANED AND/OR REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WOULD RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES LATER. IN ADDITION THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE THE DOORS WERE UNABLE TO BE LOCKED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WE PURCHASED A FORD EDGE SPORT 2013 BRAND NEW. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A FEW WEEKS AFTER HE PURCHASED MY PARTNER WAS DRIVING WITH ME AND MY DAUGHTER AND HE ALMOST PASSED OUT AT THE WHEEL. WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE WE GET SICK; DIZZY, HEADACHES, NAUSEA, CONGESTION, ETC. I WAS SICK FOR YEARS THOUGHT I WAS DYING. MY DAUGHTER EVEN PASSED OUT IN THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AND CALL 911. I HAVE PICKED UP FRIENDS AND THEY RODE IN THE VEHICLE AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I HAVE ALL THE RECORDS FROM FORD. FORD SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEMS, BUT WAS NEVER FIXED. IT'S 2018 AND THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE. I HAVE TO RENT CARS JUST FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I'M SO FRUSTRATED AND LOST FOR WORDS WITH ALL OF THIS. I RECENTLY SAW THAT SOME OF THE FORD EXPLORERS DRIVERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WE HAVE EXPERIENCED. IF YOU GO ONE BLOCK IN MY CAR YOU WILL WANNA PASS OUT. PLEASE CONTACT ME I HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCE DOCUMENTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND HEALTH HAZARD TO US DRIVING THESE VEHICLES.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND RIGHT REAR DOOR SENSORS INTERMITTENTLY HAVE A "DOOR AJAR" WARNING, THOUGH EACH DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. THE SENSOR IS INSIDE THE LATCH, AND HAS A VERY HIGH FAILURE RATE, BASED ON CURSORY INTERNET RESEARCH. THE WARNING CAN OCCUR WHILE DRIVING, IT ALERTS THE DRIVER TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. FORD CATEGORIZES THE DOOR AJAR WARNING UNDER 'SAFETY' IN ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY PLANS, SO I WOULD CONCLUDE THAT NOT KNOWING WHETHER THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY AJAR OR NOT IS, IN FACT, A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR DOES NOT WORK. AS I AM DRIVING IT DETACHES AND SIGNALS TO THE CAR THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHILE IT IS NOT. THIS CAUSE THE DOORS TO UNLOCK AND THE LIGHTS TO TURN ON. WHILE I AM DRIVING IT BECOMES DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKED. ALSO, AS ONE IS DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS TURN ON UNEXPECTEDLY IT COULD AFFECT ONES VISION. ITS SEEMS IT IS A DEFECT IN DOOR THAT IS DAMAGING THE PART. MANY HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED AND AFTER A WHILE BECOMES DEFECTIVE ONCE AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING MY COMPANY VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY THE MOTOR LOST ANY WAY TO INCREASE THE SPEED AND LITTLE BY LITTLE THE SPEED WENT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TOWARDS THE RIGHT LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SHAKING, I DECIDED TO TURN OFF THE MOTOR AND TURN IT ON AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEAR. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE ALREADY IN MY EDGE. THE TRUCK IS ALREADY AT THE DEALER BUT ACCORDING TO A CALL I GOT ON SATURDAY THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT THE CAR DO HAS. THEY HAVE MADE SOME TESTS BUT SO FAR NO FAILURE HAS APPEARED. *TR
WE WERE RETURNING HOME VIA I55 AND I TURNED ON THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM. THREE TIMES IN THE SPACE OF AN HOUR, WITHOUT ANY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US, THE VEHICLE BRAKE ITSELF. THERE WAS A TRACTOR AND TRAILER NEXT TO US AND CARS BEHIND US ON THE TWO LANE HIGHWAY. AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT I TURNED OFF THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM BUT LEFT THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON. SOME TIME LATER WITH DIFFERENT VEHICLES, BUT THE SAME TYPES IN THE SAME RELATIVE POSITIONS, THE CAR BRAKE VIOLENTLY, THE WARNING LIGHTS IN THE WINDSHIELD WERE BLINKING AND A SIREN WAS SOUNDING AND THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF US AGAIN. THE ATTEMPTED STOP BY THE CAR WAS SO VIOLENT IT THREW US FORWARD. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE AND IT HAS BEEN AT THE FORD DEALER WAITING FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND A PART THAT MAY FIX THE ISSUE. THE EDGE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER SINCE THE THE 27TH OF DECEMBER AND NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA AS TO WHEN THE "PART" MAY BE IN. WE TOOK POSSESSION OF THE CAR ON DECEMBER 20TH, 2014. I CONTACTED FORD ASKING FOR A BUY BACK AND AM WAITING TO HEAR. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER AND A FORD FIELD ENGINEER EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. *TR
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. WHEN DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE RAN THROUGH THE STOP SIGN, STRUCK A FENCE AND THEN 2 OTHER VEHICLES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. *TR
NOTED LEAK OF FLUID FROM REAR OF VEHICLE OF MY 2013 FORD EDGE. TAKEN TO LOCAL FORD GARAGE, WAS TOLD IT WAS REAR DIFFERENTIAL VENT, SO THIS PART WAS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THIS PROBLEM WAS A PRIOR RECALL. CONTINUED TO HAVE LEAK FROM REAR OF VEHICLE AFTER REPAIR WAS DONE, SO VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN AGAIN, THEY WERE ADVISED BY FORD THAT THE PRIOR FIX WAS THE REPAIR, AND THAT THEY SHOULD NEXT CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL, WHICH MY LOCAL GARAGE HAD ALSO DONE, FORD THEN ADVISED THEM TO UNDERFILL THE FLUID TO BELOW THE DIFFERENTIAL VENT LEVEL AS THE CORRECTION. MY QUESTION IS THIS, IS IT SAFE TO DO THIS OR WILL THIS DAMAGE MY VEHICLE OR CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE IF MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE ADEQUATE FLUID FOR THE PARTS TO WORK PROPERLY. *TR
HAVE NOTED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE ODOR OF FUEL/GASOLINE IN CLOSED CAB OF 2013 FORD EDGE AFTER STARTING VEHICLE. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME I START VEHICLE, BUT APPROX 10% OF STARTS IT DOES. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NO FUEL LEAK. WELL, I HAVE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE GASOLINE ODOR MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEY CHECKED IT. MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WILL SOON EXPIRE AND I GET THE IMPRESSION WITH THE RUN AROUND I HAVE BEEN GETTING THAT FORD DOES NOT TAKE THIS COMPLAINT SERIOUS ENOUGH TO TRY A LITTLE HARDER TO FIND THE SOURCE AND FIX IT. THIS IS NOT AN ECO-BOOST ENGINE, IT IS A 3.5 LITER V6, QUESTIONING IF THIS COULD BE SAME PROBLEM FORD HAS HAD WITH MULTIPLE OTHER MODELS FUEL LINES, AFTER ALL THEY DO USE ALOT OF THE SAME PART IN MULTIPLE MODELS. *TR
DOOR ADJAR SIGNAL TURNS ON WHILE DRIVING. INTERIOR SOME LIGHT TURNS ON AS WELL. INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN CAR OR EXITING VEHICLE. FAULTY DOOR SWITCH.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN I CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DRIVE DOOR AJAR SENSOR NEVER GOES OFF. IT CAUSES THE LIGHTS TO COME ON WHILE I AM DRIVING, IT WILL NOT LET ME LOCK THE DOORS WHILE I AM INSIDE THE CAR AS WELL AS THE LIGHTS STAY ON FOR OVER 5 MINUTES WHEN I TRY TO LOCK THE CAR AFTER I GET OUT. THIS IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. *TR
DOOR LATCH SWITCH WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT. I TOOK IT IN FOR WARRANTY AND FORD SPRAYED IT WITH LUB. AND SAID IT WOULD FINE. BECAUSE OF IT EVERYTIME YOU BRAKE THERE IS A CHIME. YOU CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS THE POP OPEN AGAIN. DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND BATTERY IN CAR WILL GO DEAD IF YOU LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I THINK THAT THIS NEEDS FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON FORDS BEHALF. IT IS A DISTRACTION DURING DRIVING AND ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN I HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR. I TRIED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND THE REPAIR FAILED.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT GOES ON. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME THING STILL NOT FIXED. THIS WEEKEND SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I DO NOT REMEMBER THE DATE THEY WILL HAVE IT AT THE MECHANIC I'M SURE OR SOMEWHERE IN MY FILE FOLDERS
FAULTY SENSOR IN DRIVER'S-SIDE DOOR? SENSOR SHOWS THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED, BUT THE ALERT GOES OFF THE ENTIRE TIME YOU'RE DRIVING WHICH IS A HAZARD & DISTRACTION. *TR
REAR DOOR IS OPEN. LIGHTS STAY ON. PLEASE PUT CAR IN PARK. ENGINE IS ON. ERROR CODES. DOOR IS SHUT AND IT WON'T DISENGAGE ALERT OR READ DOOR IS SHUT WITH OR WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION. *TR
THE SYSTEM IS SHOWING A "DOOR AJAR" ALARM, DRIVERS FRONT DOOR. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BECAUSE I DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR ENOUGH SO I JUST OPENED IT, AND PULLED A LITTLE HARDER AND THE ALARM WENT AWAY. I DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND ONE MORNING WHEN IT WAS FROSTY I CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE "DOOR AJAR" ALARM POSTED AGAIN. I OPENED THE DOOR AND CLOSED IT SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ALARM WENT AWAY. FROM THIS I THOUGHT THE STRIKER NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED, I THOUGHT, "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE DOOR SWITCH COULD HAVE FAILED ON A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 1.5 YEARS OLD?". I DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW MORE DAYS AND AT THIS POINT THE ALARM WAS POSTING ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME. AROUND THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER THE ALARM BEGAN POSTING ALL THE TIME. NOW, IT POSTS NEARLY 95% OF THE TIME WITH ONLY A FEW TIMES WHERE IT DOES NOT. THE ISSUE WITH THIS ALARM IS TWOFOLD: 1) IT KEEPS THE DOME LIGHTS ON BECAUSE THE SYSTEM DOES NOT SEE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCK IT, THUS THE TIMER MUST TIME OUT (AROUND 20 MINUTES) AND THE LIGHTS TURN OFF. 2) THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. THE LAST ONE IS THE ONE THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BECAUSE THIS, TO ME, IS A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
CAR STOPPED RUNNING AS MY WIFE,DAUGHTER,AND MYSELF WERE ON OUR WAY HOME. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HWY. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED AND WE CONTINUED HOME. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND LEFT IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE SERVICE REP. I SPOKE WITH SAID THEY COULD FIND NO TROUBLE CODE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I ASKED IF HE HAD SPOKEN WITH FORD ENGINEERING ABOUT THIS AND HE SAID NO. I ASKED HIM TO AND HE SAID HE WOULD. HE CALLED FORD ENGINEERING AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO SOLUTION AND DENIED A PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO RETURN MY LOANER CAR. I DID SO .A DIFFERENT SERVICE REP. WAITED ON ME THIS TIME.WHEN HE BROUGHT ME THE CAR HE ASKED IF MY PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND I SAID NO .HE ASKED ME THE PROBLEM AND I TOLD HIM.HE THEN TOLD ME THAT HE HAD A LADY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HER CAR,A 2012 FORD EDGE. HE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY TOLD HIM TO CHANGE PROGRAMMING. THEY DID THIS TWO TIMES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.SHE THEN TRADED THE CAR WITH 32000 MI. ON IT FOR A NEW VEHICLE. I TALKED WITH SEVERAL FORD REPS AND FOR THE MOST PART SEEMED UNCONCERNED. I EXPRESSED MY SAFETY CONCERNS TO THEM TO NO AVAIL. I WAS TREATED AS COLLATERAL DAMAGE. *TR
OUR FORD EDGE KEEPS THINKING THE DRIVERS DOOR IS OPEN!!! ITS NOT A SECURE FEELING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING OR STANDING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS GO ON AND THE PANEL IS SAYING YOUR DOORS IS OPEN. *TR
THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AFTER THE BREAK PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH INTO A TREE. DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP. AT LEAST THREE OTHER INCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR SURGED FORWARD BUT DID NOT RESULT IN A CRASH. TOOK THE CAR TO FUTURE FORD AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING WAS DONE. LATEST EVENT ON 5/22/2015 WHERE THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. IN BOTH INCIDENTS, WE WERE LUCKY IN THAT NOBODY WAS INJURED. THE SURGES LAST ABOUT 4 TO 5 SECONDS.THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOTHING IS DONE TO STOP THE SURGE EXCEPT PUSH HARDER ON THE BREAK PEDAL. FUTURE FORD SERVICE MANAGER STATED NOTHING CAN BE DONE WITHOUT POSITIVE PROOF IN THE ERROR CODES.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECOMES AJAR EVEN WHEN SHUT AND YOU HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THE ALERT GO AWAY. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND AT NIGHT THIS NOT SAFE. ALSO, EVERY TIME YOU START TO ACCELERATE THE CAR BEEPS AND TELLS YOU TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, WHICH IS A DISTRACTION. ALSO THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON IN THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED. IF CONTINUE TO DRIVE WHILE DOOR AJAR LAMP IS ILLUMINATED THE ALERT WILL ALSO CHIME EVERY TIME I START FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHICH VERY DISTRACTING. *JS
ON 10/21/13 AT 6:30 AM I WAS DRIVING ON MY DAILY ROUTE TO WORK ALONG INTERSTATE ROUTE 95-SOUTH. AS I WAS DRIVING OVER THE HIGH LEVEL BRIDGE IN PORTSMOUTH, NH, I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT STRUCK ANY OBJECT, NOR HAD ANY OBJECT STRUCK THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP AND SAW THAT THE ENTIRE MOONROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED IN PLACE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE NEXT EXIT. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED ITS EXTERIOR, I CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD HIT MY CAR. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY OBJECT HAVING STRUCK THE MOON ROOF. THERE WERE NO LOCALIZED IMPACT CRACKS OR PUNCTURE HOLES ANYWHERE, YET, A STRIP ALONG ALL FOUR EDGES OF THE MOON ROOF HAD SEPARATED, WHILE THE CENTER AREA STAYED INTACT, BUT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE PORTSMOUTH, NH FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE'S MOON ROOF AND AGREED THAT THE DAMAGE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING MY CAR. FMC HAS DOCUMENTATION OF HIS STATEMENT. SM TOOK PICTURES OF THE MOON ROOF AND SUBMITTED A TO FMC. FMC IMMEDIATELY DENIED THE REQUEST FOR REPLACEMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER ESCALATED THE REQUEST BECAUSE HE FELT VERY STRONGLY THAT THIS WAS NOT A RESULT OF SOMETHING HITTING MY MOON ROOF. THE REQUEST WAS ONCE AGAIN DENIED. MR.XXX HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE CALLS ON MY BEHALF THIS WEEK TO FMC, ASKING HOW ANYONE CAN MAKE A DETERMINATION WITHOUT SENDING SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE MOON ROOF FIRSTHAND. HE WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD FOR THREE DAYS THAT FORD WAS WORKING ON COMING UP WITH A RESOLUTION. ON 10/23/13 FORD CALLED AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THE MOON ROOF. ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND COOLANT HIGH TEMPERATURE SAID ON THE DASHBOARD. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AND I CHECK THE ENGINE COOLANT RESERVOIR AND FOUND IT EMPTY. THIS IS A 2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED. IT HAS 13,000 MILES AND IS 15 MONTHS OLD. THIS VEHICLE HAS A MYFORD TOUCH SCREEN AND SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN GIVING US PROBLEMS SINCE WE GOT THE EDGE. ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 MY WIFE WAS STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT TRYING TO GET THE MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM TO MAKE A CALL FROM HER CELL PHONE. THIS CELL PHONE HAS BEEN PAIRED TO THE MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM SINCE DAY 1 BUT REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE THE PHONE TO MAKE A CALL. SHE WAS TOUCHING THE SCREEN TO MAKE THE CALL AND THE SCREEN CRACKED. THE SYSTEMS THAT ARE PART OF THE SCREEN WILL NOT WORK NOW DUE TO THE CRACKED SCREEN. THE DRIVER IS FORCED TO MANUALLY WORK AROUND THE SYSTEM CONTROLS SINCE THE TOUCH SCREEN WILL NOT WORK. FORD REGIONAL SERVICE REFUSES TO REPLACE THE CRACKED TOUCH SCREEN AS A WARRANTY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. FORD REQUIRES $1,500 TO REPLACE THE CRACKED TOUCH SCREEN. FORD HAS MULTITUDES OF ISSUES WITH THIS MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM WHICH THE TOUCH SCREEN IS A PART OF THE OVERALL SYSTEM. I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE POWER STEERING KICKED OUT. I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS AND WAS ALREADY COMMITTED TO MAKING A LEFT TURN. Shift to Park warning light comes on even though the car is in park. This component or system failure is known to ford dealers but they state that it is not on the recall listing. It should be because this is a known issue with ford on the 2013 Ford Edge. It requires the whole shifting assembly to be replaced at the cost of the owner and not the dealership. My car is available for inspection. I have reported this to the Ken Garff St George Ford/Lincoln service and it should be in my file. THis should be a recall issue and not replaced at the cost of the owner

UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, WE HAVE HAD SPORADIC DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR INDICATIONS WITH DASH ALARM & INTERIOR LIGHTING AFFECTED. THIS HAS PLAGUED US FROM 2500 MILES TO THE PRESENT (FEBRUARY 2016 @ 36,000 MILES). FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE ON APRIL 1, 2013. SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER W/DOOR ADJUSTMENTS & "BURNING OF THE CONTACTS" HAS NOT SOLVED THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT COMES BACK SOMETIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS AT A TIME. WE ALWAYS CHECK THE DOOR TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS SHUT & CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR W/WARNING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. AT NIGHT THIS ISSUE CREATES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. I FEEL THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS BEEN VERY ELUSIVE, NOT SUPPLYING PAPERWORK CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. MAYBE FORD IS PLAYING DODGE BALL ON THIS, BUT THEY ARE ONLY MAKING ENEMIES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.

WE ARE HAVING A EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB OF OUR NEW 2013 FORD EDGE. WE FIRST NOTICED IT WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR QUICKLY AND THEN LETTING OFF ON THE GAS AND A FEW SECONDS LATER WE GET A EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE CABIN AIR EXTRACTORS TWICE, REPLACED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, APPLIED SEALANT TO BODY SEAMS, NO LUCK. THIS MAKES FOR A UNPLEASANT VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND CONCERNS OF BREATHING FUMES. Three times over the past month I have experienced a soft brake pedal that would go all the way to the floor and the vehicle would fail to stop normally. The first two (2) times where at low speed approaching a gas pump. More frighteningly the third time was at 45 MPH with my young daughter in the vehicle and evasive maneuvers had to be mad to avaoid a collision. After the first time I had the brake pads changed. Earlier on the day of the third incident my vehicle was at a national service center for a brake inspection, because of the alarm from the second incident, and no issue was found. The issue is completely random with no noise, dash lights, warning, or indication of impending failure at all. I have read multiple accounts of 2013 Ford Edge drivers with accounts matching mine detail for detail. Reports of multiple brake booster and master cylinder replacements and HCU replacements with no success. This is extremely dangerous and will eventually result in the loss of life for someone. This needs to be addressed by Ford via recall immediately.

SHE WAS APPROACHING THE SCHOOL AT ABOUT 20 MPH ON LEVEL STREET WHEN SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. SHE SOON REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE HAD STALLED. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE AND TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN THE NEXT TIME THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I ALSO INFORMED THEM OF A PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT MOVING FOR NO KNOWN REASON AND ABOUT GETTING MUCH LESS THAN THE STATED GAS MILEAGE ON PURE HIGHWAY DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS EITHER. I REQUESTED THE NUMBER OF SOMEONE THAT I COULD CALL TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THESE ISSUES. I WAS GIVEN THE NUMBER OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. BECAUSE OF THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE PROBLEM THE INITIAL CONTACT REFERRED ME TO A MANAGER. INITIALLY THE MANAGER OFFERED NO MORE THAT THE DEALERSHIP, THAT IS TO BRING IT IN AFTER IT FAILS AGAIN. I EXPLAINED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUES OF LOSING CONTROL AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED OR IN A SCHOOL ZONE. HE STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM. (I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE THEY GET CONCERNED ABOUT A SAFETY ISSUE.) AFTER AN EXTENSIVE HEATED DISCUSSION HE AGREED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FURTHER EVALUATED AT THE DEALERSHIP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,137.
