Initially we contacted Ford when the brake pedal went to the floor while my wife was driving WITH the KIDS in the car. Ended up having the car towed to Ford. They inspected the vehicle and later called and said brake booster was bad. With no signs or warnings of failure I find this a safety issue . Ford replaced parts and Now we are back to having the pedal on the floor with very little pedal at all. My family's lives are at risk and Ford should be responsible. To think my wife has to drive this vehicle with my kids in it and be in a terrible accident one day is horrific.
Driving under normal conditions, brake pedal goes to the floor, very hard to stop vehicle. This happened 3 times. Twice in July 2022 on a family road trip, and today, 11/15/2022 while being driven to work, almost resulting in an accident.
HCU unit master cylinder and brake booster failure all at one time (ford knows of this issue that’s why there’s a recall on the brake boosters ) I was driving with my family in the car going about 70 mph down the highway and the brakes gave out causing them to go to the floor and barley able to stop super spongy and barley made it home without using the e brake the next day we limped it to our local dealer ship and they said the HCU unit brake master cylinder and brake booster had to be repair due to no fault of our own now this repair wasn’t cheap at all at a cost of 2000 dollars. Always have had the dealership service the vehicle when it was due or recommended . We’ve never had an issue with the brakes on this vehicle before no warnings no nothing just cruising down the road had to hit the brakes due to traffic and nothing, very scary and the HCU units master cylinders and brake boosters in these cars need to be recalled due to safely issues not just for the drivers and passengers but for everyone around on the road . Think god I was able to stop if not we would have ended up in the back of a 18 wheeler in a fiery crash and wouldn’t be able to type this complaint . The units were inspected and was told they need to be replaced but dealership service advisor said they see them all the time for no apparent reason just driving and a failure occurs.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing out of the garage, she depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that she had to apply extra pressure to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that she previously had the vehicle diagnosed but the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
While driving my 2013 Ford Edge Sport down the highway at 60mph the traffic light changed to yellow and then red as normal. When I went to apply the brakes the brake pedal suddenly lost pressure and went to the floor before the vehicle was able to stop. By this time I was in the middle of the intersection. By some miracle I was able to avoid a potentially serious accident as luckily no cars were in the intersection. The brakes were fine one moment and then no brakes the next with no warning lights or error codes. The brakes haven’t changed since then. Still no pressure and I’m afraid the drive the vehicle. My vehicle has yet to be inspected/diagnosed, but after doing extensive research online I’ve found that this is a very common problem with the ABS system. Apparently the valves get stuck open allowing fluid to flow freely past them and the system needs replaced. How is this not a safety issue. I’ve read that so many people have almost been in serious accidents were death could potentially occur. I don’t understand why this has not been recalled. The brake fluid is at normal level and the brake booster was previously replaced by Ford a couple years ago. In that instance the brake pedal was very hard and the vehicle would not respond to braking. That issue was fixed by Ford on their dime and I was told it was some secret or unpublished recall on certain vehicles, depending on where they were manufactured. This is gross negligence on Fords part and can’t wait for someone to sue the pants off them.
We were driving in the mountains and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor before engaging. This caused us to almost hit a vehicle in front of us, swerved successfully, but then my wife and I have whiplash pain from the instant, hard stop. Took it to a Brakes Plus and they said air in the lines was the cause and flushed the lines. Worked for a few days, then almost got into another accident with the same issue of the brake pedal falling to the floor before engaging. Took it back to Brakes Plus and they notified us that Ford is well aware of this issue and extended the warranty of the Brake Booster, which is known to fail. Took it to Ford, they happily replaced the brake booster, under the warranty, but then said this is not the issue, we need to replace the HCU Assembly and replace the master cylinder. Which, conveniently, is not under warranty. Ford is playing with peoples lives, knowing having faulty parts installed on vehicles and not taking ownership and replacing the parts needed to safely operate their vehicles. When I asked if I can complain, they gave me your web-address instead of trying to make things right. The only response I received worth a penny, is keep your receipts, maybe we can reimburse you, if I/m not dead, when we decide to take ownership.
This is in regards to Recall # 14S10 (Ford) and NHTSA # 14V393000. I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge when turning there was a pop, and vehicle would not engage into any gear causing an extreme safety issue. After being towed, it was noted that the intermediate shaft was broke and sheared the gears off. This is a very uncommon finding. We contacted Ford and was told there was not a recall on this vehicle. Therefore, we replaced, through Ford, the intermediate shaft and 2 new CV axles (ordered through a parts store). Once repairs were completed, the CV axle seal leaked and was also replaced. It started shaking upon acceleration. We then replaced the motor mounts and struts in an attempt to fix the problem. We also put another CV axle on passenger side at that time. At this point, after speaking to several different professionals regarding our problem, we were then informed that there WAS a recall for this very problem on 2013 Edge. We contacted Ford again and gave them the recall numbers. They then agreed that the recall should have included this vehicle but that our particular VIN number was not included in the initial recall. We were advised by Ford to bring the vehicle in and let them inspect it. After inspection, they found that when the intermediate shaft went out, it damaged the transmission. They also stated that looking into the history of this vehicle, this is not the first time for this problem with this particular Edge. They stated this should've been included in the original recall as this is the exact reason for the recall. We were advised to contact you with this complaint so that this Edge with Vin number can be added to the recall and fixed accordingly. This Edge is currently at the Ford dealer awaiting your response. I implore you to consider adding this VIN # to the original recall. The Ford dealer is in agreement that this is the exact reason for the recall. Thankfully, no one was injured during the initial incident which could have been serious.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was soft and required an abnormal amount of effort to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS hydraulic control unit. The contact was informed that the ABS hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Brake pedal goes to the floor with much reduced braking power. Then problem may go away for awhile, but then always reappears. Starts at intermittent, but eventually becomes permanent. Had brakes and rotors replaced which did not help. Had Master Brake Cylinder replaced which did not help. Determined to be the ABS/HCU unit internal valves getting stuck "open" which allows the brake fluid to bypass the brake system which causes low brake pedal and loss of brakes. VERY costly too have repaired and parts are not readily available. Many 2013 (and other years) Ford Edge owners are experiencing this problem as can be seen by the many YouTube videos identifying this problem. Ford should replace the defective units. Not having brakes is a BIG safety issue.
Brake pedal sinks to the floor, I have replaced the master cylinder (3) times and also the Break Power Buster. . . Problem still exist

The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I experienced a loss of brake pressure, resulting in the brake pedal sinking to the floorboard before the vehicle came to a complete stop. Service was performed on the vehicle and an independent mechanic replaced the brake master cylinder. However, the brake cylinder replacement did not solve the issue and the symptoms persisted.
Flexplate rattle. Tsb from the lawsuits for years 2015 to 2018 days they have to replace the long block. Meaning I’ll have to replace either my transmission or engine and I have already replaced the transmission once in this car. There needs to be a recall and it cover ALL 6f35 transmissions.

I had my brakes repaired and since having my brakes repaired, I continued to have issues with the suspension, vehicle handling and imbalance (vehicle not stopping properly). I was dropping my friend girl's grandsons off at school and my brakes went out...almost causing me to have a head on collision with the vehicle in front of me. I was overwhelmed and hysterical! I had taken my vehicle back to the repair shop that replaced my brakes and I tried to explain what happened. I was bewildered because my vehicle didn't have any warning messages of any sort. I remember riding over some bumpy streets and when the traffic slowed down, I pressed my brakes and they were gone. I had to press the brake pedal all the way down to the floor and I wasn't getting any pressure through the brake line at all, which caused me to almost run into the vehicle in front of me. When I pressed the brake to the floor, my vehicle slid rapidly and made a strange noise before I was able to come to a complete stop. We were terrified because I had ran into the curb trying to stop my vehicle! The repair shop mechanic stated that it could be the caliber connected to the brake line, because my vehicle did not have sweaking noises that you usually hear when your brakes need to be replaced. My vehicle is still in need of repairs, I'm afraid while driving it still. I'm bewildered because I honestly don't know what caused my brakes to just go out like that!
Brakes are hard to press and pedal will travel to the floor. I hear hissing when depressing the pedal, i also hear a whistle when the pedal is all the way to the floor. The symptoms match the Ford communication of 13N02. My vehicle was assembled on April 2 2013, the recall only affected cars assembled through March 28, 2013. Sure seems like I have the same problem as the recall.
My 2013 Ford Edge is making a hissing noise when the brakes are applied. It has been a few months; I’ve tried to brush it off that it was just my imagination because my brakes are working (for now), there is nothing leaking, but now there is also a jerk feeling. As I’m driving and then slow down, somewhere between 35-40 mph, there is a little jerk or “hiccup” feeling. I have noticed that sometimes the pedal feels hard to press. I’m worried what is going on will eventually cause my brakes to fail and cause injury. Nothing has been inspected yet, but I did research and see that there is a recall for this exact problem. However, I have not received anything in the mail regarding this. I looked up my VIN and found there are 0 recalls for my vehicle. I believe that my vehicle should be included in this recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact was informed that their vehicle was not covered by the recall even though their vehicle experienced the same issues and was also manufactured at the same plant that made the other affected vehicles.
ON 9-28-2022 I was driving about 45 mph when suddenly my car lost power. The wrench symbol appeared on the dash. I floored the gas pedal, pressed it completely to the floor, and the car sputtered off the road and out of traffic. It was terrifying.

My driver door ajar light comes on and stays on if you start the Ford Edge before shutting the door. If you turn off the car then shut the driver door wait a min then start the Edge then the door ajar light does not come on. And sometimes it doesn't matter the door ajar light comes on anyway. It has something to do with either the sensor or door latch. I believe it is unsafe cause you don't know if its just on or if your door is really shut as you drive around. Also when it on while you are driving when stopping at a red light the screen comes on telling you to put the car in park. It doesn't make since to me. I haven't had it looked at cause can't afford the service call. This started happening in Sept 2022. The passenger door had the same problem and was fixed upon buying my Ford Edge. I don't have proof of it but I can show someone.
Unknown but the issue is that the vehicle is all over the road swaying back and forth. The steering is super loose. In other models of the same year it was found to be the toe linkage. Also the cross traffic sensor goes off when nothing is even close causing me to slam on brakes thinking something is back there.

The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
My brakes started feeling like the pedal went to floor, or if needed extra break at a light, there was none, took to get brake pads at 57,000 miles on tues and was told pads were fine but something bigger. I drove it 4 miles away to Moyer ford and dropped it off, after researching internet, it appears this break booster is a major issue with 2013 edge. $875 later, 2 days later, I now can drive my car. My research shows this issue will likely return, I want my vin reported with this issue.

The brakes on my otherwise perfect 2013 Ford Edge recently went to the floorboard while I was driving. The first time, I could have killed a pedestrian--which should shock everybody including Ford. The second time, I could've killed several people in the car in front of me and started a deadly chain reaction. Ford dealers have told me that there is a recall on the 2011 & 2012 Ford Edges for a replacement of the ABS module--BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR! People are going to die if the greedy Ford is not FORCED TO RECALL THIS YEAR TOO. I've been told by numerous independent mechanics and have spent hundreds of dollars which leaves the brakes still not working properly. Ford dealers have quoted me $2000 + to replace the ABS module (ECU & HCU). I am a senior citizen and cannot afford anything near that. PLEASE ... PLEASE HELP ME AND DEMAND THAT FORD RECALL THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT IMMEDIATELY.
i BOUGHT MY CAR USED FROM DEALERSHIP WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE MY BABY. SUV WAS FINE UP UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WAS DRIVING AND MY BREAK PEDAL WAS MAKING A SQUEEKING, SQUEALING SOUND EVERYTIME MY FOOT WAS ON THE PEDAL. NO MATTER WHAT IT MADE THAT NOISE ENTIRE TIME WHILE DRIVING DAY IN AND OUT. THE BREAK PEDAL WOULD EITHER BE VERY LOOSE TO THE FLOOR OR EITHER IT WOULD BE SO HARD I COULD NOT PUSH IT DOWN. IVE ONLY HAD VEHICLE 5 YRS AND JUST REPLACED BREAKS. NOW I HAVE TO USE BOTH FEET TO PUSH DOWN ON BREAK PEDAL TO STOP. MY CHILD ISN'T SAFE SO I DRIVE SLOW EVERYWHERE NOW. MECHANIC WHO DID BREAK PADS SAID IT WAS THE BOOSTER GOING OUT. SAID FORD HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS AND ISSUES HAPPENING WITH BREAKS/BOOSTER/MASTER CYLENDER. I AM A SINGLE MOM WHO DOES NOT HAVE MONEY FOR COSTLY REPAIRS LIKE THIS. I JUST PAID OFF IN FULL THIS VEHICLE AND NOW THINKING I COULD HAVE USED THAT MONEY NOW FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 9 YRS OLD. I NEED A MIRACLE. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD AND A RECALL ISSUED FOR BREAK ISSUES INCLUDING BOOSTER AND MASTER CYINDER.
My 2013 Ford Edge has (in the past year) had the Master Cylinder and the Brake Booster replaced to correct various problems with braking system and loss of pressure. I currently have the vehicle in the shop (Pittsville Ford) to repair the "wrench" indicator light causing a loss of engine power when the wrench light is illuminated. This appears to be a Throttle Body error that is currently listed under CAS # 38134291 Talking to the service representative last night they indicated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive given the current condition (and actions) of the brake pedal. It currently has what they call a soft brake pedal. None of their techs will even drive the vehicle so they cannor diagnose the issue from CAS # 38134291. The dealer advised me to initiate another critical safety complaint about the "soft Brakes.
I have been having trouble stopping my vehicle. I thought it was just time for a brake replacement so I had them changed at Firestone and I was told that was only part of the problem. I was told my car was showing a recall for my brake booster part through Ford and that the dealership would have to fix it. I've called multiple Ford dealerships and also customer service and they are all telling me there are no recalls attached to my VIN. After calling back Firestone I was told they still could not fix it because my VIN was still showing them a recall for the brake booster. I called Ford customer service to tell them and was told there was nothing else to do because my VIN was not showing a recall. I am having to continue driving unsafely in my car. The recall number I was given is 13N02.

Panoramic Sunroof Broken, Glass stuck open, Paid to have it closed. Can not find a dealer or body shop willing to fix to re-open the sunroof
The first issue I am having is that the vehicle is telling me to put my car in park when it’s already in park. This has been going on for many months now. My second issue is when I fill my tank to full and try to start it, it has a hard time turning over. This has been going on for many months now. My third issue is that my front wipers will not turn off no matter what I do. And it’s been weeks. The fourth issue I have is that two of my tires keep leaking air since I have purchased a vehicle from the dealership and I have had it in and they claim they sealed it but they are still leaking. So I constantly have to fill them up with air. This has been going on since I bought it from the dealership.
