On May 24, 2021 my brakes failed on my 2017 Ford Edge and it was towed to Baxter Ford in Omaha NE (dealership where I purchased the vehicle). Baxter determined this was due to Safety recall 20S42 / NHTSA recall 20V-469. After repair was made on the front flexible brake lines the car was still not performing correctly and Baxter determined the right rear brake line also needed to replaced. This was not covered under the recall or the warranty. I called my ASE certified mechanic, who has been servicing all of my vehicles for over 10 years, to discuss with them. They told me the front and rear brakes lines are separate from each other, but they have been servicing many Ford vehicles with same rear brake line problem and just had 2 Ford F150's the previous week, one with about the same mileage as my vehicle (61,000). I am diligent with servicing my car for maintenance, oil changes and repair. My vehicle had been in to my mechanic on Feb. 18, 2021 at 57,318 miles and all fluids were also checked and everything was fine. On May 24, 2021 at 61,892 miles my 2 front brake lines and one rear brake all lost their fluid at the same time. Baxter Ford filed a request with Ford to have this covered for repair and it was denied. I contacted Ford to request to have this reviewed and was denied. However, I was told just to hold on to my receipt in case the NHTSA files a recall and would be reimbursed at that time. I have also talked to several other Ford vehicle owners who have experienced the same problem and I think this needs to be reviewed. You can reach me at [XXX] or [XXX] if you have questions or need additional information. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
We are having an ongoing issue with the tailgate malfunctioning of our 2017 Ford Edge Titanium. The tailgate will suddenly will not open for no reason after pushing the remote as well as the button on the hatch . We have tried resetting it on the menu and it will work for a while and then won’t open again. I have read that other owners have reported that it closes on their heads while putting stuff in the back. This is a safety issue because we can’t get to the spare tire if need be because of a design flaw that allows no manual operation of this tailgate!! I can’t believe this issue has not been addressed by Ford or the NTSB. Very frustrated.

Engine light came on with 83,690 miles. Carried to local Ford dealership. Problem was coolant leakage into engine(which my research has shown is a common issue). The solution is engine replacement at cost of around $7000. This is a known problem and Ford has yet to correct it.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would start shaking violently. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V390000 (Power Train) and 17V427000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes warning light was illuminated. The contact placed brake fluid in the vehicle however, the next day while reversing out of the driveway, the brakes locked up. The contact used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact noticed brake fluid leaking from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
2017 Ford edge with 79,000 miles began to make a loud engine rattle, it almost sounded like someone had put a semi-engine in it overnight. No check engine lights ever appeared. Took it to a local shop and they came out to look at it and said it sounded really bad and I needed to tow it to a Ford House immediately. Once Ford took it apart they found that the flywheel had cracked, and it caused my crankshaft to crack as well. They're saying I need a complete engine replacement for $8,000. Big safety issue that no check engine light never came on with complete engine failure.
I received a letter from ford in May that there was a recall on my model ford fusion. I have called my ford dealer 3 times since May and they keep saying they haven't received the parts for this recall. Am I putting my family at risk by driving my vehicle? How much longer can I expect to wait? On may 5th I had front and back rotors replaced because my brakes were making a strange noise when I pressed on them. Is this part of the recall problem? If it is shouldn't I get a refund for the work done? It cost me $667.85 Thank you for your time.

I received a Safety Recall Notice number 20S42/NHTSA Recall 20V-469 in May, 2021. Since then I have been unable to have the problem resolved by Ford Motor Company due to as they say "waiting for parts to be delivered to dealership." Is this acceptable? Where's the urgency due to a safety recall? Can you help? I have contacted the local dealership over 5 times to see when this safety recall can be taken care of. Each time the response is the same. They have no parts and they are on backorder. Required to call back at a later date.First recall notice was received September 2020, Latest recall notice May 2021. Recall has not been completed.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and an appointment date was scheduled for July 2, 2021. The contact stated that the recall repair part was however given to another vehicle owner to repair their vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after the vehicle was parked, the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the local service center who replaced the battery and confirmed that the alternator was operating normally. The failure reoccurred, and the battery was replaced on two additional occasions. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 95,000.
CAR BATTERY IS DEAD; FIFTH TIME IN 3.7 YEARS. THIS CAN HAPPEN AFTER SITTING A FEW DAYS OR JUST OVERNIGHT. AFTER BEING CHARGED BY AAA, IT APPEARS TO BE FINE AND THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. BATTER WAS REPLACED AFTER THE 4TH TIME, BUT THE CAR DIED AGAIN 1.5 YEARS LATER. DEALER TRIED TO FIX BY REPLACING A SHIFT SELECTOR SWITCH (TWICE) BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
THE DESCRIPTION BELOW IS WHAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MY VEHICLE. IT HAS A CRACKED FLEXPLATE RESULTING IN LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTING ENGINE AND WHEN IDLE OR AT LOW SPEED. VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER IF NOT FIXED. NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10144200 MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: SSM 47398 SUMMARY SOME 2015-2018 EDGE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.0L ECOBOOST AND 6F35 TRANSMISSION MAY EXHIBIT A RATTLE NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AREA WHILE RUNNING. THIS MAY BE THE RESULT OF A CRACKED ENGINE FLEXPLATE.
2017 Ford Edge w/2.0 EcoBoost engine. Vehicle had about 64000 miles, started vehicle in morning and it idled rough. Check engine light came on. I used a code reader and it showed "random misfire, cylinder 4" P0304. Reset the check engine light and drove for about 10 more days. Started again in the morning and it idled rough causing the check engine light to come on again. I took vehicle to Ford and they diagnosed "fluid intrusion into cylinder walls". Service adviser knew exactly what it was when I described problem, saying "this is a common occurrence". Replaced engine at a cost of $5302 since it was approx. 6ooo miles out of warranty. Found numerous online complaints about this same engine and same problem. Ford seems to know about it because in Dec. 2019 they issued TSB #19-2346 describing the problem and the steps to fix it (new engine and the required parts to order). many online complaints describe low coolant and overheating. My engine would of gotten there if I hadn't taken it in to the dealer.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine at start-up. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where a pressure test was performed. The test showed that coolant had been leaking into the cylinder block. Due to the failure, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE

WHILE DRIVING #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE RUNS ROUGH. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND DIAGNOSIS WAS COOLANT LEAK INTO #2 CYLINDER. DETERMINED ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
VEHICLE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET BRAKE FLUID WARNING SYSTEM WENT OFF. PULLED OVER AND FOUND OUT BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY DRY. TOOK IT TO HERITAGE FORD IN CORYDON, IN AS THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS FROM SEPT. 2020 BUT NO PARTS AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE SAID 3 DAYS TO REPAIR ONLY ONE BRAKE LINE AND WE HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET, NO RENTAL CAR. WE CALLED FORD CORPORATE OFFICE AND ARE ADVISED OF THE SAME.
WHILE DRIVING IN NEW ALBANY, INDIANA ON SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2021, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT ONCE. MY HUSBAND HAD ME PULL OVER INTO A PARKING SPOT AND HE SAID THERE WAS 0 BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. HE HAS WORKED ON BRAKES AS A MECHANIC HIS WHOLE LIFE (71 YO NOW) AND SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. HE DROVE TO A VERY CLOSE GAS STATION AND GOT A CAN OF BRAKE FLUID AND WHEN WE GOT HOME HE HAD HIS BROTHER LOOK UNDER IT WHILE HE PUMPED THE BRAKES. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE HOSE WAS RUPTURED. TOOK IT TO HERITAGE FORD IN CORYDON, IN WHICH IS THE CLOSEST FORD DEALIERSHIP TO US. WE FOUND PAPERWORK THAT WAS SENT IN SEPT. 2020 THAT SAID THIS WAS SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S42/NHTSA RECALL 20V-469. THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS. WE CALLED THE MAIN FORD CORP. PHONE NUMBER AND THEY TOLD US THE SAME THING. BOTH THE DEALER AND FORD CORP. SAY WE MUST PAY UPFRONT AND MAY BE ABLE TO GET OUR MONEY BACK AND THERE MAY BE A FORM BUT ALL WE GOT WAS A TOLL FREE NUMBER TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FAILURE TO BRAKE OR STOP, CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH AS IT WAS IMMEDIATE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THEY ONLY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WILL NOT REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEY DID NOT CHECK THE BRAKES FOR FURTHER WEAR OR DAMAGE. THE RECALL NOTICE, INVOICE, AND PROOF OF PAYMENT ARE ATTACHED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT RIGHT. FORD DEALER AND MAIN CORPORATE OFFICE HAVE SAID "THEY DON'T KNOW HOW THEY ARE GOING TO HANDLE THIS AND THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT." WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK TO START WITH AND WANT THE OTHER SIDE REPAIRED AT THEIR EXPENSE ALONG WITH BRAKE INSPECTION. THEY ALSO DID NOT OFFER A COURTESY VEHICLE ALTHOUGH WE ASKED REPEATEDLY FOR ONE.
ON APRIL 9, 2021 WE FOUND THE SEATBELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT LATCH ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. I NOTIFIED THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY, APRIL 12, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SCHEDULED ME TO BRING THE EDGE IN ON APRIL 22. ON FURTHER INSPECTION I FOUND THE SEATBELT BUCKLE TO BE BROKEN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN AND LEAVE IT TO BE SERVICED. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE SEATBELT BUCKLE AND FOUND IT INOPERABLE DUE TO THE INNER GUTS OF THE BUCKLE BEING BROKEN. A REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN ORDERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND THIS OCCURRED WITH NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE EDGE HAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000 MILES.
AT ROUGHLY 77,500 MILES OUR ENGINE STARTING MISFIRING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED CODE P0305, INDICATING CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. WE REPLACED THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MISFIRE. WE THEN BEGAN HEARING FLUID MOVING BEHIND OUR DASH BOARD AND NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT TANK WAS LOW BUT NO VISIBLE COOLANT LEAK WAS FOUND. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER'S SERVICE CENTER (WOODHOUSE FORD - OMAHA, NE) FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #2, CAUSING THE MISFIRE. IT WAS ALSO LEAKING INTO THE HEATING ELEMENT, CAUSING A PUTRID SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE AND THE RUSHING FLUID SOUND BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THEY CONFIRMED THIS IS RELATED TO FORD TSB 19-2346. FORD STATED THAT THE REPAIR REQUIRES A $6300 REPLACEMENT ENGINE AND THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AS A RESULT OF THEIR DEFECT. PER THE TSB, THIS ENGINE DEFECT MAY RESULT IN ENGINE FIRES BUT FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT GET TO THIS POINT FOR US.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V469000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AL PACKER'S WHITE MARSH FORD LLC (9801 PULASKI HWY, MIDDLE RIVER, MD 21220) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHERE THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING WHILE THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR.
ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THIS VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER & ACTS LIKE IT'S RUNNING OUT OF GAS. IT "STUDDERS" FOR 15-20 SECONDS & THEN BEGINS TO RUN FINE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN HAS JUST BEEN COMPLETED. IT'S A FRIGHTENING FEELING THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED & YOU HAVE FAST MOVING TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU ON A BUSY CITY STREET. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT IS NOT BEING DRIVEN NOW BECAUSE WE ARE IN FEAR OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS ENGAGED IN PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARUSO FORD LINCOLN (3500 CHERRY AVE, LONG BEACH, CA 90807) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE GEAR UNIT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 2017 EDGE CAME ON WHEN I STARTED IT. THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND RUNNING ROUGH. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID WHEN THEY TRIED TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS, THEY BROKE ON OFF. THEY THEN DISCOVERED THE BLOCK CRACKED AND COOLANT GOT INTO THE CYLINDERS. THE ONLY FIX ACTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign number 18V390000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was 95,274.
AROUND 70,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR HAS ALSO BEEN SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION, WHICH HAS BEEN UP TO THIS POINT, UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. I TOOK MY CAR INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER 4, AND THAT THE WHOLE ENGINE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO START-UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED LATER THAT DAY SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE USING THE SPARE KEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHITE SMOKE EXITED THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAD GASKET ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2. VIC BAILEY FORD (501 E DANIEL MORGAN AVE, SPARTANBURG, SC 29302, (864) 585-3600) WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
Service Code P0302 and P0316 indicating Cylinder #2 malfunction/misfiring---2017 FORD Edge SE FWD 2.0L EcoBoost. Check engine light came on at 59,995 miles, Sunday, March 28, 2021. Thus far, no one in danger. But some of the symptoms of this inherent, internal engine, failure code make the operation of the vehicle dangerous. The vehicle may stop abruptly or stall out. Occasionally, engine runs rough, shakes with hesitations and jerks with acceleration. 06/18/2021 inspected at Pinnacle FORD in Nicholasville, Ky. "Allowed engine to reach operation temperature and pressurized for 5 hours, 8 PSI drop in pressure. Removed spark plug and used borescope to verify coolant intrusion in the cylinder. Customer given estimate for long block rebuild". The engine light came on & off (more often) for the next 4 weeks or so after 3/29/2021. I stopped by the dealer on Monday, 3/29 to get appointment. They were 2 1/2 weeks out booking appointments.Approximately 3 weeks passed without definite symptoms or smell, engine light off & on.Had a friend mechanic look at hoses and the like, without finding any leakage, smell of antifreeze, etc. Tested P0302 diagnostic code. Changed the spark plugs. As a result, for about 2 week period of no light illumination, no smell.Came on again prior to getting an appointment prior to Memorial Weekend, and the service center was again booked 2 weeks out.Per my schedule and theirs, I scheduled an appointment at the 3 weeks timeframe. Dropped it off 06/17/2021 after hours. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
CAR ENGINE IDLES ROUGH AND WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF EXHAUST. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING 20 MILES PER HOUR ON MY TOWN ROAD AND I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC HE SAID THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER HEAD NUMBER 2. WE HAD TO FILL THE COOLANT RESERVOIR BECAUSE IT WAS VERY LOW.
Around 50,000 miles my edge broke down, following warranty protocol I took to dealership and found out fluids were leaking into my motor. Had to replace engine, coil pack and cylinders. Less than a month later the engine light came back on and took it to a ford mechanic. The warranty approved motor was having the same issues as motor replaced. I needed another engine. Only somehow less than 2,000 miles and I wasn’t covered anymore through warranty. I had to find another motor and pay out of pocket for it to be replaced.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V469000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. ALPHORN FORD LINCOLN (N2985 18TH AVE, MONROE, WI 53566) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FELT SPONGEY WHILE DEPRESSED. ON MY 2017 FORD EDGE THE EPB MOTOR AND ABS MODULE WENT OUT AT 62,000 MILES RESULTING IN BRAKES DRAGGING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE WITH THE DANGER OF LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE ENGINE IS A 4 CYLINDER 2 LITER ECOBOOST AND HAS BEEN LEAKING COOLANT INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2 CAUSING COOLANT LEVEL TO DROP AND THE ENGINE MISFIRING EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. FORD HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LOOK OUT FOR THESE PROBLEMS. THE ONLY REMEDY IS ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF AT LEAST $8,000.00. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND WILL NOT HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. I BELIEVE MY ENGINE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT APPROX. 61,500 MILES. I THINK FORD SHOULD BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT AS THE ENGINE HAS FAILED BEFORE 62,000 MILES. A CAR ENGINE SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS OF DOZENS OF SIMILAR CASES OF THE ECOBOOST ENGINES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND BELEIVE IT HAS A DESIGN FLAW.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN. TOOK CAR FOR REPAIR WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS. WEEK LATER CHECK ENGINE CAME BACK IN. WAS TOLD IT WAS MISFIRE CODES THEN CLEARED. WEEK LATER (3RDWEEK IN ROW) HEARD SWOOSHING SOUND LIKE LIQUID RUNNING TOWARDS THE FRONT OF CAR WHERE THE HEAT VENTS LOCATED AND CHECK ENGINE BACK ON WITH CAR GAS MILEAGE DECREASING FROM 147 MILES TO 25 MILES DURING A 5 MIN RIDE TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD LOW COOLANT AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE THUS DESTROYING ENGINE. ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS 42000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THAT CONTACT STATED THAT PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT SPACE TO PARK, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK WITHOUT WARNING AS THE VEHICLE SHOT FORWARD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE CONTACT TRIED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILED TO RELEASE CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A 2ND VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD ACROSS THE STREET INTO A TREE WHERE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE FIRST INDIVIDUAL IN THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE PELVIC BONE (FRACTURE). THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE OTHER INDIVIDUAL WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP WHERE AT THIS TIME WAS AWAITING ESTIMATES FOR DAMAGES BY INSURANCE COMPANY. NO DEALER OR MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. *DT*JB
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND COOLANT KEEPS GOING LOW, CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE, COOLING GETTING INTO THE CYLINDER
I WENT TO PUSH MY BRAKES AT A STOP SIGN AND I FELT THE BREAK GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND HEARD A POP NOISE AND FELT THE PRESSURE UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED AT THE RIGHT SIDE BRAKE LINE AND IT APPARENTLY HAD BURST BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP
MY 2017 FORD EDGE WITH A 4 CYLINDER 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE AND 81,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, AS PER MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. I RECENTLY HAD COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE CYLINDERS. ALL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK, INCLUDING OIL CHANGES, HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN REQUIRED. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOTALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $8,500. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WITH FORD ECOBOOST ENGINES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT FOR YEARS. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE SINCE MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THEN IT'S THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT WHEN THEY HAVE KNOWN FOR SOME TIME THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE.
THE PASSENGER SEAT IS LOSE AND MAKES RATTLING NOISES
DIAGNOSTIC DONE BY FORD IDENTIFIED THAT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3 MISFIRE. THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY HAS AN INTERNAL COOLANT LEAK AT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3. THERE IS COOLANT INTRUSION AT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST FORD REGARDING THIS ECOBOOST ENGINE. MY CAR STALLS AND CANNOT EXCEED 60 MPH. THE RESOLUTION IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LONG BLOCK. FORD HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2.0 L ENGINE BUT HAS ISSUED SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. COOLANT LEAKING INTO #2 CYLINDER -- 88,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT REQUIRES A TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. DEALERSHIP ESTIMATE OF $9,000 TO FIX.
We were driving down Hwy 84 in Georgia coming from the airport a truck was making a left hand turn and turned in front of us.. We hit the car going about 30 miles an hour.. The air bags did not deploy and we suffered greatly because of this.. This happened 2/14/21..
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle it was discovered that the brake pedal extended to the floor while depressed and the vehicle would not immediately stop. Upon inspection, it was discovered that brake fluid was leaking from the front passenger’s side braking assembly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front passenger’s side brake hose had failed. The hose was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was later informed that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA campaign number 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 15,000.
